I would try a small fm transmitter like this one

ROAV (subsidiary of ANKER) makes a great bluetooth -> fm transmitter that has 2x quick charge ports. Link
If you decided to go this route..
Wire up this guy: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ZGDYG7Y/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_BqbXCbJPFDVW2
Add this guy: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07GJ7DHMP/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_rsbXCbTDX7V4B
Probably waterproof the whole thing up a bit, and stuff it somewhere safe.
But definitely confirm the FM solution works first. The manual seems to indicate that, but I haven’t personally tested/confirmed that FM sharing still allows communication.
Yep. They make nice little ones that just plug into your cigarette port!!

There are a bunch of FM transmitters that are only a little bit bigger than a regular car charger, and have different higher powered USB ports on them that may work for you.

This one is from Anker, it doesn't have any specific quick charge standard, but it does have "intelligent" USB ports. Usually these do a good job of keeping things topped up.

There are some other random ones with 2 USB ports and at least 1 of them is QC3.0:

https://www.amazon.com/Bluetooth-FM-Transmitter-Wireless-Adapter/dp/B07F2RTN5Z/

And this one, the FM transmitter controls are on a gooseneck thing, but the second non-QC3.0 USB port is 2.4A, if you care about such things.

You can get a bluetooth receiever that plugs into your aux port or transmit on FM.
Here's a popular model on Amazon
This is the one I have, it's actually $17. Just keep your radio on 88.1 or similar low frequency and it has a strong signal, works great. The first one I'd tried couldn't overpower static but this one works great.

I have used alot of FM to bluetooth transmitters.
I love this one.

I really like the Anker products so here is what I currently use. I like how small it is.

I am returning it and I got the lower end model instead.
It works just as good but it doesn't reach all the way through 200 feet of brick and concrete, exactly like it should
I like it. No regrets
Two things to check: 1) see if your vehicle manufacturer has a software update for your headunit, and 2) if all else fails, get yourself one of these - it's what I ended up doing and it connects solidly first time every time to all my phones (7Pro included).
Hey dude I just bought this for my 08 Mazda 6 and it works great. It was on sale for 10 dollars. I remember buying a POS back in 2005 that cost me near 80 dollars and this thing blows it away. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07GJ7DHMP?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

Buy a new transmitter, I use this one, works flawlessly on any station with nothing already on it. Has 2 fast charging USB ports too.
Keep the radio as is and get one of these, much cheaper and easier solution.

This FM transmitter / charger / find my car works great...well not much experience using the find my car part but the one time I did it put me in the ballpark.

Try one of these, it has Bluetooth + aux 3.5mm output. Very versatile.

Some of the things I've gotten that have made my life a little easier.
I'm sure there are more and I'll come back and add them as I can think of them, these are some of the non-medical quality of life items I add to my every day to make things more bearable.
In my previous car, I had the same issue and used a tape-deck adapter. https://www.amazon.com/INSTEN-Universal-Cassette-Adapter-Smartphones/dp/B00CRBA9D8 They work fairly well, but the cord usually wore out after a time. I also found a Bluetooth version in the past that kinda sorta worked, but I had Bluetooth connectivity issues that I now believe was my phone at the time.
I use something like this now: https://www.amazon.com/SmartCharge-Bluetooth-Transmitter-Receiver-Dedicated/dp/B07GJ7DHMP/ref=sr_1_fkmrnull_3?keywords=roav+audio+adapter&qid=1549639180&sr=8-3-fkmrnull It has both a radio transmitter so you just tune to that channel, or aux out which is what I use. And then you can Bluetooth pair it to your phone. On my car, the power shuts off with the car so it will shut off when you turn off the car (which pauses the book), and come back on and pair automatically when you start the car up and then you just have to start the book.
You could possibly combine the too which I think would make the tape adapter last longer since you don't have to move it as much. I had mixed results with the FM adapter in the past. Mostly because you'll run into interference in spots either from other adapters or from radio stations in the same location.
Roav makes a really good bt adapter that also does some other cool things. I installed this, but was disappointed with the lack of quality from it. The steering wheel control integration is really poor. Ended up returning this and got an Anker Bluetooth FM transmitter instead from Amazon. Connects everytime, but every now and then, there is some white noise.
Oh well. I’m still happy with it though.

This isn’t the one I have but it’s the cheapest I saw.
Get a Bluetooth to fm transmitter (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07GJ7DHMP/). It's got an output for aux but Bluetooth also works well with it. Make sure you choose a FM channel that isn't occupied in your county
