I mean...yeah, obviously, but upgradability, modularity, and customization would be way better on a case like this.

I just took delivery of one of these.

https://www.amazon.com/Arteck-HB030B-Universal-Bluetooth-Rechargeable/dp/B00X5P8BJO/ref=sr_1_2?crid=30D80T4NFL9FE&keywords=bluetooth+keyboard&qid=1570498325&sprefix=bluetooth+key%2Caps%2C243&sr=8-2

$20 and backlit. Cannot go wrong at this price. It is great feeling keyboard when typing and it has a 'delete' key in addition to the backspace key!

I purchased this keyboard from Amazon and it works extremely well with my iPad. No lag, very lightweight and the backlight is great for typing in the dark. It also has a long battery life and doesn't take long to recharge, I go days before charging. The keyboard is only $20, the plus side of ordering from Amazon is that if you don't like it you can always return it and get your money back. I would recommend you give this keyboard a try.

Have you tried getting one of these to use when your in the car? Maybe hook your phone up to the stereo so it can play it louder or just directly through your phone pointed at the the drive up box?

I recommend that one because it has USB charging. You should be able to just plug it in and go without a charge.

Ill also ask my brothers GF how she handles the drive through. Ive got a paralyzed VC but the other one is still good (for now)

The iPad pro allows you to connect to an external display, has a higher resolution and is more responsive, but if you want to use a tablet as an EFB, then you really don't need those things. An iPad Pro is perfect for anyone that needs a laptop replacement or a dedicated creative content device, but an EFB shouldn't need too much power.
If you need to do any typing you can use the on screen keyboard or one of these 2 keyboards. And If you're okay with Android, the Samsung tab A and S5E would serve similar functions (assuming software compatibility and company policy doesn't restrict device brands) while being a little cheaper $200 and $400 respectively (depending on where you get them) as well as the S5e supporting external monitors and Dex mode (which essentially turns your tablet into a laptop in terms of software looks).

TLDR: It depends on your company and monetary restrictions, but I'd go for the iPad Air for something so straightforward

Aye. I do agree with you on that :)

I actually went ahead and ordered myself one of these, don't know if I'll like it as I never actually tried to use it, but I have really limited space. Going to be using it for my tablet and my computer (if I am in bed), so that I don't keep having to remote access my computer from my bed all the time lol

I'd actually get something like a Arteck HB030B or the Anker you linked if space wasn't an issue.

I wanted something similar but I just bought this full Bluetooth keyboard which was a) inexpensive b) gives stabdard shortcuts c) very very small and light.

Consider it as an option. Battery lasts ages and having a full keyboard is great. Backlighting is very useful. Links up with Bluetooth on the surface and requires flipping one switch to turn it off and on.

I have one of these that I use with an iPad:

It supposedly works with the PS4.

I bought this case and this keyboard for my iPad. Works well enough for me as it is slim and I can pull the keyboard out of my bag if I need it.

I purchased an Arteck Universal keyboard for $19 off Amazon, it's backlit (colors can be changed), has many shortcuts for you, rechargeable and is really a joy to use. After spending the amount I did on my iPad Pro, I wanted an affordable keyboard and I think this is one of the better ones in the lower price range.

I got this really nice Arteck keyboard from Amazon, pretty small footprint. I think it is similar in size to the wireless thinkpad keyboard, plus it has RGB if you're into that. No issues with bluetooth connectivity at all and it's worked quite well for the past 4-5 months I've had it.

I'm a working college student and I decided to finally treat myself a little for a better workstation on a budget of ~$200. This is the wallpaper I used.

Total cost of the items I've recently bought on Offerup and Amazon:

I got this - it works OK but the keys pop out easy if you, for instance, drive to Mom's with it in your backpack.

I specifically looked for size, I wanted the smallest I could go, so it'd, y'know, fit into a backpack. There's probably cheaper or better ones out there, though.

Did you know Amazon will donate a portion of every purchase if you shop by going to smile.amazon.com instead? Over $50,000,000 has been raised for charity - all you need to do is change the URL!

Just read reviews and compare price/benefit ratio. If you are gaming, I would suggest purchasing the devices individually.

Wireless Gaming mouse with 2400 dpi, 7 buttons, and good reviews -> https://www.amazon.com/Pictek-2400DPI-Adjustable-Wireless-7-Button/dp/B01AWGCPIG/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&qid=1492872615&sr=8-12&keywords=wireless+gaming+mouse

This one is only $20 and has a 7 color backlight.

u/shananies · 1 pointr/ipad

I've recently tried out this from a friend and will be purchasing this setup instead of my Apple one when I upgrade as the cost savings is huge and this is awesome. the backlit keyboard is my main selling point.

This one is a little larger than you mentioned (5.91 x 9.72), but is backlit, bluetooth, and currently ~$20

Not sure if anyone will see this after a month, but I have an update to this post:

I downloaded Evernote and bought a 20$ Android-compatible bluetooth keyboard from amazon (this one, if curious: https://www.amazon.com/Arteck-HB030B-Universal-Bluetooth-Rechargeable/dp/B00X5P8BJO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1485617570&sr=8-1&keywords=artek+bluetooth+keyboard).

Works great. Types with seemingly no delay or lag. I don't love that Evernote doesn't have an autocorrect feature (that I can find) but that's an issue with the software.

So now I can use the Kindle as an ad hoc laptop-tablet to type my prep notes on and write with.

The only thing I cannot do that I had hoped is stream the Ambient Sound Mixer App to my bluetooth speaker. But I did find my old iphone 4 and DL'd the ASM app which streams the ambient sounds just fine.

All in all, not a bad investment: 40$ for the Kindle Fire and 20$ for the BT keyboard.

Thanks again for the feedback!
