Best car dock I've had in a long time and it does fast wireless charging using the included USB 12v charger.

I know it's a little expensive but it's super adjustable and just works very well, the process for placing your phone in and removing it is super easy.

I’ve mounted mine at the bottom of the left pillar.

From the driver’s position it keeps my phone lined up with the pillar without blocking my view. Also let’s me look at Maps (which I use a lot) without having to look down.

Personally I have been using this one for my note 8 and now note 9, and it's been working wonderfully. It's a little pricey at $50, but 8 months in and works like new!

I've used two mounts with my s8+. Both are able to grab the S8+ without covering any buttons or the charge port.

This vent mount

Pros: easily holds the weight, as long as you have a suitable vent to mount it on. It's compact. It's cheap.

This suction mount

Pros: has wireless charging, but I prefer to cable charge it. Comes with s8 adaptive fast charger for cigarette lighter. This allows fast charge for both cable and wireless.

Cons: big. Expensive. S8+ is too heavy to be held out on the arm, unless the phone can rest on the dash to support the weight.

I used to use the panavise dash mount with an arkon phone holder, which looks like it's the same plate as that bimmian one. However, now that most phones have wireless charging, I found that mount to be a little wobbly since it's long. I use this in my '96 Outback. I had a magnetic one, but I got a new phone (Galaxy S10e) and it wasn't magnetic. It fast charges wirelessly, is super easy to mount, retains my phone quickly and securely, gives you an extra USB port, and can be mounted via windshield or dash (I don't remember if it can or can't on the vent). It feels a little cheap, but I've had no problems with durability or security and the features make up for it.

It's the most sturdy version of the iOttie mount thus far and the wireless charge works great with the note 9. Couldn't be happier.

As an alternative to an expensive new head unit, you might consider getting a phone mount. iOttie makes nice ones. They have stickie suction cups to stick to anything, they’re really adjustable, and they can fit almost any phone. If your wife’s phone has wireless charging, iOttie also makes a model that will wirelessly charge the phone.

Here’s my favorite, but they make others, too. Obviously, there are other brands that are probably also great, but I’ve had 2 iOttie phone mounts (a regular one and then a wireless charging one when I got my 8+).

I like my iOttie Easy One Touch Qi . I’ve had mine for almost a year, currently have an X. I also got the little sticky gel dashboard pad.

I use the iOttie Easy One Touch car mount with my Pixel 3 XL. I used the mount originally with the Note 8 and it kept my phone topped off even with GPS and Spotify going on in the background.

I've noticed a little bit of draining when running everything together but it's not too bad. It charges slowly, but it keeps things even for long car rides. I had my Pixel at about 83% and after two hours of spotify and google maps running, the power was about 80%. Not perfect, but serviceable at least.

Yup, I adore this thing. I almost shelled out for a wireless-charging magnetic solution, but this mount is so smooth and intuitive that I've convinced half my friends to buy them. The charging version is pricey, but the fact that it means I almost never have to look at my battery level on a normal workday makes it worth it.

I picked up this one on amazon from iOttie almost a year ago, and its been fantastic! The sticky pad has held strong, even when I've moved it twice, and the actual stand has been very sturdy. It clicks into place to adjust the phone when you place it on the stand, and holds it firmly in place, its never fallen out while driving. The actual charging is absolutely fast charging, and the included car charger has an extra fast charging usb port as well, though I haven't tested trying to fast charge two devices from it at once.

The only thing I can say thats bad about the unit is that when charging your phone in the sun on a hot day, its very likely your phone will overheat and stop charging to protect itself, but I assume thats the case for any charger on the dashboard.

I've been wondering about this. I know some car chargers / usb ports are woefully under-powered, with some coming in at only 0.5 watt; as such, I've noticed they can't keep up with charging the battery if Waze, for example, is onscreen navigating while music is streaming and playing over Bluetooth. Therefore, I try to ensure I'm using a 2.1 amp charger in car.

If I obtained a Qi charger for the car, will it be able to keep up under the same demands?

Does your phone have wireless charging? I put my iPhone X in this in my Subaru it works great. It’s solid, it sticks, and it charges reasonably quickly.

Obviously don’t waste your money on wireless charging if you don’t need it but look for something similar. In my experience, dashboard mounts work better than windshield mounts and the thick neck keeps the phone stable.
