🎓 Reddit experts on pc-compatible games software
Choosing the best pc compatible game software? The ultimate guide
With the number of gamers increasing by the millions each year, gaming companies are at their peak. We get it; pc gaming is problematic. Unlike console gaming, if you have an old pc or a laptop with a weak graphic card, there’s a high possibility that modern games wouldn’t work on your desktop.
It is essential to check everything before you spend your hard-earned cash on game software. So what should I do?
Here is the ultimate guide you should consider before buying a game.
Checking your pc specifications manually
It would help if you always considered checking your pc manually before opting to buy the desired game software. The more you know about your hardware, the easier it is.
What should I specifically check for? Your CPU speed, RAM, and the details of your graphic card. If you have a laptop, you can check it online by typing in your specific model. There are various ways you can check the details of your hardware on a pc.
One of the easiest ways to check it is to install a freeware utility software called Speccy. It shows all the information about the hardware and software on your computer.
Compare the requirements needed to run the game with the specs you have
Before buying a game, check the requirements needed to run it. It is not rocket science to figure out if it is compatible with your pc or not, but if you want to make it precisely clear to you, you can have your computer do all of it for you.
You need to run a desktop app called the System Requirements Lab, which analyzes your computer hardware for free. Then all you need to do is visit the Can You Run It website, type in the game software’s name on the search box, and you can check if it is compatible or not.
The end
Making sure you have the correct requirements before spending money on game software is necessary. We hope this short guide helps.

Assuming that you enjoy the leveling / story part of MMOs:
Older RPG titles:
Other things:
Magicka is incredibly fun, I was actually just playing that. Right now, it's $2.50 on Amazon, because of their Mayhem sale (heheh punny). Also, Borderlands is fun which is also on sale on amazon. I'll give you a free copy of Dota 2, I have way too many and already have it. I bet FC3 is a bit out of the price range, but I strongly recommend that, too.
I also added you as a friend (18hockey)
Links 'n stuff (I own all these):
All of these are on sale and are a HUGE deal IMO. I mean, BL GOTY and BL2 for $20 is amazing. If you don't have that much money, buy the Borderlands pack and Magicka, those three are amazing games, and really fun on multiplayer.
Alright, for BG1 and 2 there are more or less 4 essential mods (along with the need for patches).
It adds content that was restored and ended up not making it in the game and some interesting little things created by the community.
Now this one is essential, it makes BG1 look like BG2

BG is my favorite RPG series and these mods really made me love the game even more (Widescreen is seriously awesome, I find the sweet spot to be 1280x720)
If you are looking to buy BG I recommend getting the D&D Anthology (Comes with BG1-2, PST, IWD1-2 and The Temple of Elemental Evil) or you can get the 4 in 1 box set.

I have them both and they are super easy to mod :)
Hope that helps!
TL forum post: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=278995
>The long-awaited expansion pack for StarCraft II is now available to pre-order. Heart of the Swarm continues the epic saga as something happens to Kerrigan and Jim Raynor acts emo about it (I think).
>
>If you'd like to help support TL, you can order Heart of the Swarm through our Amazon referral link. Assuming this is the same as Wings of Liberty, you will receive the game the same day it is released for digital download (last time it was shipped early to ensure it arrives on time - don't worry!) and TL will receive a small commission which will be used to help keep the site running.
>
>Note: This is for the physical copy of the game only. That means that you will have to wait until the game is delivered to you by mail (usually the same day as it's released). Similar to a digital purchase, you will be able to use the CD Key to download the game from Bnet or install from the DVD if you wish. If you are willing to wait a few hours for the mail to arrive, we'd really appreciate the referral.
edit: added amazon referral link to quote
You can grab rift on Amazon for about $9 USD (free shipping). So, I wouldn't pay much more than that. You'll get the additional bag slots as well as character slots. Keep in mind, the last two bag slots can only be unlocked with credits.
http://www.amazon.com/Rift-Pc/dp/B002I0HIC8/
On the other hand, Storm Legion will only get you the new souls, nothing else. If you are a patron, Storm Legion costs 3,150 credits. You can get 3,250 credits for $20. Last I checked, actual boxes of SL were going for about $20, but they've been pulled from Amazon. It might be more worth your time to unlocked it through credits, you'll have some left over credits and a nice bonus of loyalty.
I got one, new, on amazona bout a couple of years back or so when the rocksmith 2014 remaster was still pretty new but I did have to buy the license transfer on steam was all and got the disc itself (used the code inside on steam) for around 12 or 13 bucks iirc. It may be much harder to find by now, though. but steam winter sales are coming up and I think it usually goes on sale as well as most of the songs. I also got my 2014 remastered from amazon the same, so I could get the cable with it.

Edit: Good lord it's pretty expensive now, probably from being discontinued on this version along with renewed interest in the 2014 since the remaster and larger amount of music available now. I would only trust anew copy, as you have to use the key inside it on steam and a used copy, would have been used probably. And steam keys can't be transferred. Steam winter sale is probably your best option.

If it's the Gold edition: Yes.
If it's not the Gold edition, then get it from Amazon instead or wait til the Steam Summer Sale and get it then.
The Gold edition adds all the DLC and the first expansion (the second is not out yet), all of which are high quality and the expansion in particular is very well done. The above link is $20 but is for Gold, plus Civ IV Complete, plus XCOM: Enemy Unknown. If you don't want those other games, like I said, just wait til the summer sale.
However, about your post, one thing does worry me:
>Also, is it a better game to play with friends or against random strangers?
Neither! Civ V is primarily a single player game. You can play it multiplayer, and as of a patch released a few days ago this is a much more pleasant experience, however the primary draw is single player. If you really are set on playing multiplayer (which some people do, and they enjoy it) I'd say play with friends where possible. Games can be very long, and you don't want a stranger flaking on you 2-3 hours into a game.
I like turtles!
I only have one game on my wishlist, but it's pretty much the only games I've played the past few years. I like to either play Starcraft or a moba game like HON or Dota 2. I just like to play one game at a time, for MANY HOURS, till I'm quite good at it.
I don't think you can beat many of the RPG's for depth (in terms of content, immersion, etc) so I'll stick to those.
Baldur's Gate series, Fallout series (the older ones especially!), Icewind Dale series, Dragon Age, Mass Effect - in short, basically anything from Bioware. If I had to choose one among that list it would probably be Baldur's Gate 2 - it isn't easy to convey how deep the game is so just check it out and see for yourself.
A lot of these games I mentioned are older and are available cheaply in collections (talk about value for money!). You may need to do a little bit of tweaking to run them on Vista or Win 7 but it is easy to find directions online with a little bit of searching:
Baldur's Gate Box Set $19.99 on Amazon.com
Fallout Trilogy $16.61 on Amazon.com
Icewind Dale Collection $20.98 on Amazon.com
I'd probably also recommend Morrowind (from Bethesda) and Oblivion, though I'd recommend Morrowind over Oblivion if you had to pick one.
If RPGs aren't your cup of tea, I also have a short list of shooters that offer tactical depth in single-player and/or develop their game worlds well:
The Orange Box (HL2 + Expansions), Far Cry (trust me on this one it is actually a decently long FPS that can be quite engaging and tactical), Crysis (if you have a strong enough PC to run it, you'll find it offers some very intense and involved firefights).
You become a patron as a subscription, and you get daily bonuses that you can utilize to help you. You can look up the patron bonus on their website.
If you're thinking about becoming a patron, the best way is to just buy the physical game for about $10.
http://www.amazon.com/Rift-PC/dp/B002I0HIC8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1383167090&sr=8-1&keywords=rift
The reason is because your free account have limitations, such as, 2 character slots per server, limited 3 bag slots, etc. For comparison, if you want to unlock additional bag slot it will cost you about 840 gems, which is a little over $5. and it's ONLY for that character.
By buying the physical box to get the code (or digital code, but those are hard to find), you'll permanently unlock more character slots, and 5 bag slots for ALL your characters, including future alts (account wide).
In addition to the game code you buy from physical box, you'll also get 30 days patron pass, and loyalty points. This will also enable your ability to use the auction house, which you wouldn't be able to use as free account.
Content-wise, you'll be able to play it all even without subscribing. I wouldn't recommend paying for patron on the regular basis, instead, get the box code, and maybe look to unlock the Soul Storm classes instead.
I'm pretty new to the game myself, so if anything I wrote is wrong, someone will correct me shortly ;)
Some of the soul-eating games from my Steam library:
It was very bad at launch and very expensive(My friend purchased my brother and I copies for $80 each). It's now $25 on Amazon. I was very against the MMO and hated it in the beta, but now it's a really good MMO. Graphics are pretty nice, very well optimized, fully voice acted questing(Same voice actors as Skyrim had), quests aren't WoW style (Kill 10 boars). Overall, I'm having a lot of fun with it.
It's free on Steam for a couple days. If you enjoy it, this is the best deal I know of for it: http://www.amazon.com/Sid-Meiers-Civilization-Complete-Edition/dp/B00I4C2EKA/ref=pd_sim_vg_dl_5?ie=UTF8&refRID=0MTC05GK8H03R946CKFD
Now, it is free to promote their new game, Civilization: Beyond Earth, which is a science fiction variant that looks fun as hell, and is a spiritual successor to Alpha Centauri.
I greatly enjoy it. One of my buddies actually has 1400 hours played on it...
I've played neither LoL or HoN, only DoTA. Real dota is going to be the best practice for dota 2 for a few reasons:
If this is the only game you plan on playing, pick up whatever system you can get the cheapest.
Xbox Live silver is free. The only main differences between XBL Silver and XBL Gold are online play and Netflix. Downloading DLC is 'free' (you obviously still have to pay for the DLC but there is no extra charge for being able to get it).
Or wait for the PC Version
For what it's worth, Rocksmith is pretty awesome. I only wish I had more time to play it.
Some of my favorites...
AllMost of the Sim games (SimCity, its sequels and its sister games like SimTower). Avoid most of the post-EA Sim games like The Sims, SimCity Societies and Spore. There are good non-Maxis, SimCity-inspired games like Cities XL and Tropico. Worth checking out sincee the "real" Sim series has gone to shit lately.Good Old Games and Steam are good resources for finding PC classics on the cheap as well as being patched to work on modern PCs (Windows 7 64-bit).
Start with Civ V with all expansions. I was a diehard RTS guy until a friend of mine got me drunk enough to experiment with civ. My life hasn't been the same since.
I haven't played Civ 4 but Civ V is awesome. I don't know why you wouldn't start with the most recent game, I mean it got rave reviews, GOTY awards, sold millions of copies, etc. etc.
http://www.amazon.com/Sid-Meiers-Civilization-Complete-Edition/dp/B00I4C2EKA/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1405389397&sr=8-3&keywords=civ+v
25 bucks for .... at a minimum hundreds of hours of entertainment. I've probably put around 600 hours into civ at this point, and enjoyed every second of it.
Sadly, I'm not EU, but I just started playing this week with the free trial. I finally decided that I would surpass the level 20 restriction and ordered the WOW Battlechest and the Warlords of Draenor expansion today. I plan on playing a Horde character, probably a rouge blood elf since I like the blood elf lore. If you were on the US servers, I would've been down to play sometime :(
Happy gaming and the best to both of us newbie!
It's on sale for PC ($20 off) on Amazon.
I recently picked it up myself. I've played guitar for a long time and it's still a blast. I just like being able to play along to songs I enjoy and actually hearing my success. It's fantastic- especially since I rarely have anyone to jam with anymore.
Well worth it.
Buddy, you're in the wrong subreddit for this, but I'll humour you...
>If you buy digitally, you can usually find a cheaper price
That means not just searching for the RRP. If you only buy at RRP then obviously they will be the same price, and also you are a stupid consumer.
You save money by taking advantage of the many, many sales on PC digital retailers (Steam, GOG, Humble Bundle, Green Man Gaming, etc.) that reduce the price of PC gaming considerably compared to console gaming retailers. Let's look at a few examples:
Black Ops 3: RRP $60
Green Man Gaming has it for $30
Amazon has it for $26
Dishonored: RRP $30
Steam has it for $10
Amazon has it for $10
Deus Ex: Human Revolution: RRP $20
Amazon has it for $11
You're right that consoles have the better sports exclusives, and you're also right that Nintendo exclusives are only available on Nintendo consoles (Nintendo consoles are a little different to other consoles because they're basically First Party Nintendo Game Machines, as opposed to Xbox and PlayStation which are essentially Overpriced Low-end PC Simulators). There are plenty of PC exclusive games, and they come in all different genres.
This is the list of PC exclusives. Since 2006 there have been more than 350 PC exclusive games (as opposed to around 130 exclusive Xbox 360 or Xbox One games). Less than 10% of them are RPG or FPS games - PC has the vast majority of strategy games (RTS or TBS), city-builders, and simulation games.
What is the cheapest way to buy the game (+expacs) on pc? is this the cheapest? complete edition for $47.99?
Which noob server should i start on? (i saw something about gold and feathers when you start?)
I will offer the recruit bonus to anyone who is willing to answer my questions.
Edit: recruit bonus went to Quinzelette because they were the first response.
Thank you for the answers guys! I've ordered the Amazon game and am excited to upgrade my free trial!
Hey. You want Minecraft Java? I've got an account here. A friend bought this and made an account, but doesn't know what to do with it. I have Minecraft Win 10, and aren't familiar with Java. So I'm selling it. But I don't know what'll happen if I click redeem gift code or prepaid card and I don't know what he did in setting up the account. Is this a premium account? What would you swap it for? I can change the email and password and give you the account in full.
Plus I’ve got a HB gift link of “A Short Hike”. And a 3 month Game Pass.
Amazing contest! Can I enter for my brother /u/NotmynameTommy? I'm not a big video game fan, but I'd love to give him something so amazing! These are the games we used to play growing up!
This newbie guide I made may be a good idea to read over.
As for your direct questions, f2p. It's recommended that you look for a copy of the base game, like [this copy] (http://www.amazon.com/Rift-PC/dp/B002I0HIC8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1426226081&sr=8-1&keywords=rift+game). It provides you permanent benefits, such as more bag and character slots, along with a free month of patronage. Keep in mind, the link (at the time of posting) was only about $8, which is far cheaper than the monthly patron cost of $15 for one month.
As outlined in my guide, you are always allowed to select different soul paths from what the purpose guides provide. The guides are basically to help people understand a bit about the souls and what is possible, you are never required to follow them blindly. If you feel that one choice is going to better suite what you want, then by all means, choose what you want. There's a few sections of my guide that explain this in better detail. As well as explaining that you can purchase additional roles to allow you to have more options as you continue to play.
As for souls, you need to understand some different terms. First, souls are combined to form roles. Those roles determine how the dungeon finder sees you. The default 8 souls provided by the game allow you to customize your character, so that you can be pretty much anything within 3 out of 4 roles in the dungeon finder. As a warrior, that leaves you with souls that make you into either a tank, dps, or support, but you have to purchase a soul pack in order to have a soul appropriate for healing. Each archetype is missing a soul that makes them into either a tank, healer, or support, but every archetype can be a dps, without paying for the soul packs. More details on that in the guide.
Can anyone help me out here? I didn't see a link on the main landing page, but I found these two:
BNW - Amazon - $14.99
G&K - Amazon - $14.99
I just bought vanilla during the last Steam sale (this game is amazing BTW)... what's the difference between these two expansion DLC's? Are there others? Is one better than the other? Do they both add different content, should I buy both?
From what I've heard people say, the best option is to buy the original Rocksmith game that comes with the cable. It's not cheaper but it's nearly the same price as getting the standalone cable. Right now it's $36 on Amazon or if you have an X360/PS3 or even want to sell the game and keep the cable it's currently going for $30 for the X360/PS3 version. The standalone cable is rarely ever sold less than $30, so unless you want to buy it used, purchasing the original Rocksmith is your best option.
Also, if you purchase Rocksmith for PC for another $10 you can purchase the Disc Import Tool from Steam which allows Rocksmith songs to import into Rocksmith 2014. But I would wait until the Winter sale to purchase the Import Tool.
If you are looking for a challenging RPG with a great story, Baldur's Gate is just what you need. It's old school hardcore DnD. Also you can take your character through the first game and import them into Baldur's Gate 2 and take them all the way to level 40 if you get the expansions.
You can easily get 200+ hours out of the games (BG1 + Exp + BG2 +Exp). The graphics are old, but the gameplay still stands up.

20 bucks, enjoy one of the best RPGs ever made.
edit
In regards to Icewind Dale Series. It's basically the same as Baldur's Gate but the story is much weaker. nonetheless this series is also HIGHLY recommended.
My bf and I love League! :)
My drawing of Ezio Auditore with Teemo!!!!
And awesomeness!
My demise accomplishes nothing! The master will have you! You will drown in your own blood! The world shall burn!
Thanks for the contest!!! :)
It's 33% off at Amazon right now as a digital download. Not sure how picky they are about your region, but it's worth looking into.
If that price is still too high or doesn't work in Canada, you may be better off waiting a couple of weeks. It's been on sale off and on all over the place from time to time, but everyone seems to be set back at full price now.
Good luck!
Hey, I dont know if you care, but you can get Basegame+Heavensward/Stormblood for 48 dollars on amazon if you make a prime trial
https://www.amazon.com/Final-Fantasy-XIV-Online-Complete-PC/dp/B071CMXD5H/ref=sr_1_4?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1496713226&sr=1-4&keywords=final%2Bfantasy%2Bxiv&th=1
If you like the game, I would really recommend pre-ordering stormblood soon, you get an 30% EXP accessory boost items for every job under level 50
It is very important that everyone knows that...
All on Amazon right now with Steam redeemable keys. Honorable mentions go to the Desert to Sea Bundle featuring Bioshock I and II plus Spec Ops: The Line for only $9.99 USD, as well as the Bioshock Triple Pack featuring Bioshock I, II, and Infinite for $39.99 USD.
REMEMBER:, all of these games are available individually at reduced price, and all purchases can be 15% off using the code gooncave.
Happy Gaming Everyone!
That's the thing, when a new expansion is released, they incorporate the previous ones on the base game and keep its price the same. For instance, take a look here. The game costs less than $30,00 and as per the description it contains:
> World of Warcraft Game
> Includes Expansion Packs: The Burnings Crusade, Wrath of the Lich King, Cataclysm, and Mists of Pandaria
So Bungie would just have to devise something similar. For instance: after the second expansion is released, the first one is incorporated into the base game that would still cost $60,00. After the third on is released, the same thing happens to the second expansion and so on.
You might argue that "people who purchased the expansios will be angry because they paid more for the game and expansion". But this model is used on WoW and people don't complain because they want to be on the frontline, they want new content for the game they love right now, rather than 2 years later with a "Free" price tag.
Only problem I see with this model is that Destiny releases expansions way too quickly. Three months is a VERY short timespan, but they can adapt the model to fit their frequency.
So, long-story short, yes this would be doable, but I think that selling a whole new game for 60 bucks + 35 bucks for the expansions in 2 years is more profitable than just adding more and more stuff in the form of expansions to a base game.
Yes, if you buy this, then yes, you will get the free 30 days. BUT you can't just buy a dozen copies of the base game for 5 bucks each and get a year's worth of subscription time. The time is attached to the activation of the base game, so you can't have more than 1 free month.
Last time I played through BG it was on XP and it worked fine for the most part. BG1 was very rough, but you can use the tutu mods to play it with BG2's engine, which was much improved. There's also a widescreen mod that worked well for me.

If you can get a hold of WC3 and TFT (only 20$ for the Warcraft Battlechest on Amazon atm) and play through all (9 in total I believe) the campaigns you'll have half the lore leading up to WoW nailed down. The rest would be reading the Warcraft books, which are mostly good and better, despite some not liking some of them, I think all the books are worth the purchase, or read.
The rest is completely up to you, jumping from one lore page to the next on Wowpedia (or Wowwiki) simply according to my curiosity is how I learned most of my lore.
The "premium" one, not at all. The $10 one: yes
Basically difference between the $10 standard and $50 "premium" version is that the premium comes with like 20 million isk in free ships/modules and a plex worth 850 million.
The big thing that makes starter packs desirable is the Cerebral Accelerator which significantly boosts the rate at which you train skills (and get up to speed) during your first month. If your still willing to spend $40 on EvE I'd reccomend buying the $10 starter and a pair of plex worth 1.6 Billion ISK.
Honestly, I think it's unlikely to be free to play, and with the fact that you can pre-order the game for 60 usd, I think it'd going to be buy to play, like Guild Wars 2. Probably with some small micro-transaction things, again, like GW2. I imagine that a monthly subscription on consoles would turn many folks off, as with the many Elder Scrolls fans that they seem to be trying to heavily target.
Here is the amazon page to pre-order the game. http://www.amazon.com/The-Elder-Scrolls-Online-Pc/dp/B0081Q58AW
Any word on how long this lasts? Or permanent? Looking to get HotS, but turns out you can't combine Blizzard Fun Bucks with any other method of payment, and it takes 1-3 days to turn money into said Fun Bucks.
Edit: Turns out Heart of the Swarm is also discounted on Amazon. SC2 wasn't (yet?), however.
Use isthereanydeal.com. Great site to find best deals or history of sales. Looks like the complete edition is at a good price right now on amazon.
If you look at the price history, the lowest price on steam for CivV complete was $16.49 (last summer sale). Currently it's $16.67 on amazon. It MIGHT go lower that that on the next sale because a new Civ game is out but you cant really tell for sure... and it would probably be around $10-$15. So, if you dont want to wait two months to see if you can save $1-$5, I'd just get it now.
EDIT: Didn't realize I had an affiliate link to amazon from isthereanydeal.com. fixed it.
1-70 Cheapest, Comes with a free month; note all keys are battle chest keys now
70-80 Wrath of the Litch King
80-85 Cataclysm
85-90 Mysts of Pandaria, Coming out some time within the next 6 months.
So 1-85 now is $65 with a free month... Not too bad, $65 is a pretty decent price point. I think i paid like $140 over the years for xpacs.
https://www.amazon.com/Tom-Clancys-Division-PC/dp/B00KVL0SIM/ref=sr_1_1_twi_cd__5?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1479924474&sr=1-1&keywords=the%2Bdivision%2Bps4&th=1
It's only 10 dollars on amazon right now so you're not risking much by getting it. By the way, im not entirely sure if your laptop can run it well but it's good to get a new gaming pc regardless with all the beautiful games coming out like Steep or Battlefield 1.
I'm new to Wow. I've been playing the free version and I'm planning to buy 1 month of subscription. The thing is, I'm would like to buy this physical version of the game, because I also want the begginer guide books. My question is, does this physical version come with a key to use on battle.net, or is it just a dvd with an install iso. I need to know this because I'm using linux on my pc, and if it comes with a installation dvd, there could be compatibility problems. Thanks in advence
if you want a fun shooter game that's cheap as hell, go get the division.
It's 14.95 on amazon for a phsyical copy + i've seen it for 10.99 at best buy on clearance.
That game actually has somewhat of end game, and it's incredibly fun with friends.
Yes, but it looks like you can activate the disk's CD key on steam
I'm pretty sure it's what I did but I think I bought the CD and activated it on steam for vanilla Civ 5 before buying complete edition years later, so I'm not sure if it's different..
This is on amazon and says $12.50 for PC download
A while back i got one of the offers for the newbie packs from ccp.... let me look it up and see what was in it. It was a solid starter. This one and all the skillbooks for it. 4.99 usd. you could probably look up the stuff for it and make a solid pack.
http://www.amazon.com/Online-Core-Starter-Pack-Game/dp/B00MXD6ERU/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1426904611&sr=8-4&keywords=eve+online

Oh definitely start at Prince. I had very little experience with Civ (see previous comment) or really any similar games outside of Pharoah/Caesar and starting at Prince made it a lot more fun/challenging to start. Civ is REALLY boring if you start winning and stay winning (after like the first game...the first total domination game is pretty satisfying). And yes, wait for the epic sale! I actually got this for $20 recently (even though I already had most of IV and base V) http://www.amazon.com/Firaxis-Complete-Pack-Online-Game/dp/B00CPBZDPE which had IV and V complete and XCOM as well...great deal if you didn't have any of them. Unfortunately it's over, but keep an eye out on other sites besides Steam for good deals!
FFXIV and Heavensward are on sale on Amazon.com right now : https://www.amazon.com/FINAL-FANTASY-XIV-Heavensward-Windows-Pc/dp/B00TUEOSMS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1475082806&sr=8-1&keywords=heavensward&th=1 . I live in Canada so I can't order on amazon.com, but my sister lives in the US and has suggested that she buys the product for me and forwards me the game code after. We wanted to make sure however that the code she would buy for me is not zone restricted.
Is anyone aware if the codes you buy on Amazon.com have to be added to game accounts that are based in the US, or our situation would work out fine?
Thanks!
Palace of the Dead is a randomly generated dungeon that you do 10 floors at a time. It uses an independent leveling system, so the levels you gain inside the palace don't directly affect your levels outside the palace. After each set of 10 floors is completed, you gain a large chunk of experience towards that class (Between levels 30 and 50 you will gain upwards of half a level worth of experience for one set of 10 floors).
You can choose to go in as just the two of you alone, or if you can get matched up with two other random people to go in as a party of four. There's no particular benefits of going in with less than four people, but you'll still be able to clear it for the most part.
Amazon should send you an email with the early access code before early access launch.
> Pre-order Bonus Offer: Pre-order Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood to gain early access to the game on June 16, as well as 2 pre-order exclusive DLCs: Ala Mhigan Earrings and the Wind-up Red Mage Minion. Codes and instructions will be sent within 2 days of pre-order. Offer only applies when shipped and sold by Amazon.com.

I think i looked into tutu once. I do happen to have this so that might be a good idea. Definitely many hours of play there.
Have all my upvotes my friend.
Actually, it looks like the official minecraft site (Minecraft.net) has a link for digital gift codes which redirects to amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Minecraft-Mac-Online-Game-Code/dp/B010KYDNDG/
If you buy from that link, I think you'll be well protected.
If you'd prefer something more RTS, I'd recommend Warcraft III or Total Annihilation. For a ton of older strategy/sim games, I'd check GOG, they're pretty great, I think.
I don't think there's any bundle deals going on currently for both, but Cataclysm is only $20 at Best Buy and it looks like MoP can be had for ~$25 on Amazon
I'm into video gaming and nerd things like...the thing I've been obsessed with is Doctor Who.
So I'd recommend this Doctor Who : Character Encyclopedia
It's perfect to get to know the world of Doctor Who.
Something else I'm into is video games. So this online version of Skyrim, Oblivion and Morrowind is perfect: Elder Scrolls Online
If you're into food and disney, this mickey mouse cake pop would be good. Baking isn't a thing everyone likes, but it looks adorable, and who doesn't like Mickey Mouse?
I bought a copy off of amazon
about 2 weeks ago for less than 10 bucks shipped. Totally worth it, got all the character slots, bag slots etc plus a free month of patron. Probably 30-40 bucks worth of stuff if bought separately in the rift store.
Edit: here is link if anyone is interested, you get the whole original case but you just have to activate the key on your current account on trions website its easy

This bundle on Amazon is 20 bucks and includes the Civ 5 Gold Edition which covers all content currently available for the game (G&K, all DLC Civs, maps, etc.) as well as Civ IV and XCOM which are fantastic games. Brave New World is currently 27 bucks to preorder the downloadable version.

It is still 21 dollars on amazon.

You don't need expacs right away to enjoy the game, but the value of buying it all at once makes it a decent proposition. It looks like Amazon still has it for $48 with Prime.
Hey, there's no affiliate code in here, it's just our Amazon parser being broken. If you resubmit just the basic URL it should clear that issue up though.
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B002I0KP4G/
Or better yet, use one of our charity affiliates:
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B002I0KP4G?tag=childsplaycha-20
I won't remove this post, but I'd recommend you resubmit with the above URL instead. Thanks.
Firaxis Complete Pack [Online Game Code] w/ EFF Tag -- $19.99
Repost of link since it's back up. Includes:
Great price considering the Steam prices list Civ V Gold Edition as $49.99 and XCom as $39.99. I think both had 75% off sales giving them a $12.49 and $9.99 price, respectively. If this is inaccurate, please correct me with proper pricing. This Amazon deal is cheaper and includes Civ IV on top of that.
Edit: Steam Comparison
Amazon usually has pretty good deals. They almost always try to undercut Steam prices, as well.
http://www.amazon.com/The-Elder-Scrolls-Online-PC-Mac/dp/B0081Q58AW/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1406127279&sr=8-3&keywords=elder+scrolls+online%5C
Check it out!
Link for the lazy.
For those that don't know, if you have Amazon Prime, you can get it there for $32.
That GMG deal is pretty great for those that don't have prime, though.
You can use the link to create another new account. There's no limit on the number of accounts you can create with it. If you subscribe, he'll have the option between getting a PLEX (~1 bil ISK) or 30 days of game time.
However, as for whether or not you can also use the Starter Pack with it, I don't think so. Most (possibly all) of those packs only work on accounts created with the pack, so you can't double-up on your friend's link with them.
Edit :: Is this particular starter pack the one you're talking about? It looks like you might be able to (emphasis is mine):
> This product can only be used to create a new EVE Online account or to upgrade an existing trial account, and cannot be applied to existing paid accounts.
Unfortunately, as I've never used one of the starter packs, I have no knowledge of how to properly apply them. Hopefully someone else will come along who can provide better info on that particular aspect.
Amazon still has it for $26.59 (US version, I assume that's where you're from). Can get free shipping if you go with super saver.

So essentially I play the vanilla version plus all the expansions that come with the above link until I reach 90 and then I should purchase warlords of draenor?
BF3 is really good because there's a lot of roles to play (infantry, driver, gunner, pilot...) and it's super cheap because bf4 is coming out oct 29th. It's $40 with all the dlc, which is a good price, but it's been cheaper. Keep an eye on the price and you'll probably see another sale before too long.
Other than that, far cry 3 is awesome.
Plenty of reputable retailers online that are trustworthy and will give you a pre-order key prior to launch. Namely Amazonand Newegg. You buy the game, instantly get a key, and once you put it into origin, they will unlock the game on launch day. Before launch day it will appear as a grayed out icon that you won't be able to access until it's released, but it will be in your games library so you know it's legit.
That said, I really wish a major retailer did a last minute sale on BF4 prior to release. Battlefield 3 went on sale online for $45 a few days before launch and thats how I picked it up. This time though I can't find anything and will probably go with Amazon since they give you a $5 credit.

$16.67 right now on Amazon for the Complete Edition. If you are interested, this is the best option for you.
Hi, found the PC complete edition on sale and was wondering if returning players buy and use the Complete edition to unlock the 2 expansions? Will I get the 30 day subscription time? Or is it better to just get the expansions and then pay the sub separately?
I played back around launch and am interested in seeing the 2 expansions
This is the edition I was thinking about getting. Can I use it if I already have an inactive account or is this for new accounts only?

Amazon is selling the pc code for 20$ as well and they are giving out free items if you buy from them. https://www.amazon.com/FINAL-FANTASY-XIV-Heavensward-Online/dp/B00TUEOSMS/ref=sr_1_sc_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1467503932&sr=8-1-spell&keywords=heavenwsard
Another great deal
Civ V - Brave New World - $14.99
It's still $20 off (download only) on Amazon. I was skeptical about using their game download service but it was actually pretty good.
First off, have you played the trial yet? it's unlimited duration, but you are limited to level 35 on any class. if not, don't buy anything yet, play the trial.
you should buy ARR and Stormblood, as Stormblood includes all Heavensward, or buy the "Complete edition" That includes everything, but this will not be available until the 20th.
Edit: TL;DR: free trial, ARR+Stormblood if you get to level 35 before the 20th, otherwise just get the complete edition. Also don't get the steam version.
Amazon has a pretty sweet deal too, all 4 for about $17
Here is a link!
edit: fixed typo and added a link
OK. Would this off of Amazon do the trick?
ETA: And is there a benefit to buy the expansion NOW versus when I hit 50?
Thanks chaps. I noticed though that amazon.com are selling the BF4 for $14.99. I'v alot more luck with amazon in the past with games for Origin so will go with them for the sake of the extra $1.61
It is $20 on Amazon and you can register it at Blizzard. It has been as low as $8 on Amazon (that's when I finally picked up a copy) and hopefully it is due for another quick daily sale.
You might want to set up an alert at a price tracking site like Camel.

I've wanted Rocksmith forever because I want to be all Jimi Hendrix and stuff.. Plus it looks fun :)
http://www.amazon.com/FINAL-FANTASY-XIV-Heavensward-Online/dp/B00TUEOSMS $54.06 for physical PC or $59.99 for digital download. Make sure you click the button that says "Final Fantasy XIV Online" edition in order to get the version that includes everything. This is the best deal right now from a legitimate source.
If you don't manage to get the game on the official site you can try some other vendors like Amazon or G2A. You can even find it cheaper than on the official site, Amazon has it for $32 and G2A for only $23 (yes, also includes 30-day of free playtime).
It is still on sale on Amazon for a physical copy, it was $20 last week. Few friend snagged a copy or two and got free shipping
Just a friendly FYI Amazon is going to have this on sale in a few hours for only $20. All keys activate on Steam.
you should probably get yourself elder scrolls online. dang girl, i love surprises!

A bundle on amazon with all you need! You may need to pick up a game time card as well from Amazon, or you can use their website and use a credit card.
Hey! The free trial can be played without buying the base game. Also I believe I found the all in one pack you are looking to buy! https://www.amazon.com/Final-Fantasy-XIV-Stormblood-Complete-PC/dp/B071CMXD5H/
Is that what you wanted?
To keep with the frugality that /u/Merosi and /u/pausemenu point out... If you don't have a cable and are really looking at the long haul, take a look at Rocksmith 1 with a cable.
While sure, it's around $49, the cable will run you ~$30 extra if bought alone, so you're buying RS1 for only $19 (instead of ~$30). Granted, if you want to bring the RS1 songs into RS2014, you will need to spend another $10 on Steam to import them. Otherwise, you just play both versions separately, but it also gives you easier access to buying RS1 DLC for RS2014.
The only Storm Legion content that is not free is the Storm Legion Souls. This includes Tactician, Harbinger, Defiler, and Tempest. I think it's something like $15-$20. Alternatively, you can trade platinum in-game for REX. The rate is roughly 1100 platinum for 1 REX, which equates to 1250 credits. 2 REX should be enough to buy the souls.
There aren't many boxed copies of storm legion left and judging by the amazon listing they don't come with extra bonuses such as bag slots and character slots, and it's far overpriced compared to just buying the souls.
There are other retail versions such as standard edition and Ashes of History which do include bonuses, but not the storm legion souls (The keys I linked say EU but also work for US).

> the basic upgrade to the Battle Chest (which comes with 30 days) is $19.99. If you wanted everything altogether through Mists of Pandaria, you could buy it in a bundle pack as a digital purchase through Battle.net and that would save you approximately $20.
Buying WoW on Amazon is generally cheaper.
Battlechest: $20 from Blizzard, $17 from Amazon
Cataclysm: $10 from Blizzard, $8 from Amazon
MoP: $40 from Blizzard, $20 from Amazon
I don't actually see the bundle pack Araxom is talking about on the Blizzard store, but if we assume it's $20 off the above prices, that's still $50 for the whole kit and kaboodle from Blizzard vs. $45 from Amazon.
Now if you don't mind waiting for one of Blizzard's periodic Half Off Everything sales, that might be even cheaper, but who knows when the next one of those will happen.

Basically these.. and what you get is what they deemed equivalent because some of the things these codes gave you are not in game anymore.. there is a spot in account management to redeem codes like this but these are invalid because of the changes however as I said they will still honor them, it just needs to be done manually via petition.
It's actually more affordable in the long run and early game to pony up for a plex. starter packs are notoriously bad
this one though : is best : this one though with the accelerator
still plex is best cause plex is 20 and that is 20 and... you get the idea.

Amazon has a great discount on Civilization V: Complete Edition (includes both expansions) $16.67
http://www.amazon.com/Sid-Meiers-Civilization-Complete-Edition/dp/B00I4C2EKA/ref=pd_sim_vg_dl_5?ie=UTF8&refRID=0MTC05GK8H03R946CKFD
I couldn't find if there was any deals on purchase price under refer a friend. The scroll of resurrection promo would have been nice but appears to be over for now. Some good news though is they have a Vanilla through Cata battle pack that you can get straight from the blizzard store or amazon, then you only need to purchase the Mist of Pandaria expansion to have the up-to-date content.
It's definitely still a complete game and one you can have a lot fun with. It's sort of a case where you don't know what you're missing. Many people played hundreds of hours of vanilla prior to the release of Gods and Kings two years later.
My advice would be to refund your purchase in Steam if you haven't played 2 hours yet, then purchase a code here for the complete edition for $10.
Like I mentioned elsewhere on this subreddit; I'd be a little more cautious about G2A since I've heard at least one publisher call them out publicly, stating that the keys they sell are "not legitimate".
If it helps, Amazon has it for only about $7 more, and I would never ever be worried about purchasing from them.
Looks like it does. It's for a physical copy, and all physical copies come with the cable.
From the non-mobile link (http://www.amazon.com/Rocksmith-Guitar-And-Bass-Pc/dp/B004S5TDUQ):
>
>Every copy of Rocksmith will include a revolutionary 1/4 inch USB cable that turns the guitar's signal from analog to digital, allowing it to be played through video game consoles. By plugging into your console, you'll develop real skills and real styles while playing absolutely real music.
Amazon: http://smile.amazon.com/Rift-PC/dp/B002I0HIC8/
Also, I believe the Amazon Collectors Edition is $18.95 (with free shipping with Prime) cheaper than getting it through the Rift website.
The previous version with cable for PC is $29.42. Are both versions so similar that I might as well save the $10 and get the earlier one?
edit: link
Use this
I used a chase freedom (10% CB), plus had $3 in no rush shipping credit. it cost me a total of $8.xx
I don't think so.
But you can get Warcraft 3 + Expansion super cheap from amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B00009ECGK/ref=sr_1_1_twi_1_olp?ie=UTF8&qid=1410526303&sr=8-1&keywords=warcraft+3
or you could try ebay.
The official way to give Minecraft as a gift is to purchase a minecraft gift card. These can be purchased in most brick and mortar game stores, and can be purchased online (Amazon Link).
Your bother will use the code when creating his account and will own the game.
Resist purchasing the game directly (as others in this thread are suggesting) since the license will be tied to your email, not his.
Speaking of which, Amazon has it for the same price:
http://www.amazon.com/Electronic-Arts-40834ttlefield-32-Battlefield/dp/B005WWZUQ0/
If anyone still was interested in gifting, I would recommend going through them... (not sure if they have a gift option, but even if they don't, they give you the key for Origin, instead of binding it to any account).
Looks like the physical copies are on sale on amazon. (Make sure you select PC and not PC download) http://www.amazon.com/FINAL-FANTASY-XIV-Heavensward-Online/dp/B00TUEOSMS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1451927564&sr=8-1&keywords=final+fantasy+14+heavensward
You can probably find it in stores too...I am pretty sure I have seen this version at my local Target. But it's always been more expensive than the $5 online deal right now.
If I purchase the Stormblood Complete Collection from Amazon, is it a physical copy that requires an optical drive to install? Or is it just a pretty box with a code to download everything from online?
I used my extensive detective skills to look into this matter. A source tells me that you can pre-load it tomorrow (the 26th).
Please respect my source's anonymity.
For anyone who already has ARR and is needing HW to get started on its MSQ before the 16th (when Early Access unlocks), it looks like you can still buy Heavensward as a PC Download from Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/FINAL-FANTASY-XIV-Heavensward-Online/dp/B00TUEOSMS/?th=1).
Though whether or not spending $20 to get started on Heavensward's story 3 weeks early is worth it is something you might want to consider at this point.
First iff it would be best to use a referral from someone to get the 21 day trial, then look out for some starter kits, there are sometimes some for 5 Euro/ 5 Dollar, which also activates your account and gives you some starting items.
Here would be an example for amazon.com http://www.amazon.com/Online-Core-Starter-Pack-Game/dp/B00MXD6ERU/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1418380330&sr=8-4&keywords=Eve+Online

isthereanydeal.com is the greatest website in the world.
The expansion, Heart of the Swarm, is also 50% off.
PC to Amazon if you want to save money.

Because that's what these companies do, they put placeholders up to get pre-orders.
WoW expansion:

etc.
Civ V's newest expansion 'Brave New World' is $15. Not too bad for a fairly new product.

If you're interested, I could gladly make this purchase and trade you the Civ 5 Gold for less.
A Realm Reborn for $10 - PC download
Heavensward Expansion for $20 PC download
Looks like they just didn't discount the combined package, so just buy both of these if you want the same thing through Amazon digitally at the discounted price.
>15$ a month for a game we all payed hundreds to get up to date is a bit too much for the quality of the game.
Hundreds? $61 would get you everything off amazon to be up to date and a free month.
$13.35 - http://www.amazon.com/World-Warcraft-Battle-Chest-Pc/dp/B009716ESA
$4.92 - http://www.amazon.com/World-Warcraft-Wrath-Lich-Expansion-Mac/dp/B000VJTJNE

$25.95 - http://www.amazon.com/World-Warcraft-Mists-Pandaria-PC-Mac/dp/B0050SZBP6
There has NEVER been a time where it cost over $100 to get the base game and all the expansions either.
If you have doubts, just play with a friend and he can spawn you a copy to do team games with you. You'll have access to HotS, but only limited to the terran race. Once you ungroup with your friend you will lose HotS access.
I'd say its worth it, its only ~$30 on Amazon http://www.amazon.com/StarCraft-II-Heart-Swarm-Expansion-Pc/dp/B002I0KP4G/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1377636219&sr=8-1&keywords=heart+of+the+swarm
On Amazon, when searching for Stormblood I saw a "Complete Edition" launching at the same time. I'd download the free trial for now, and preorder that.

I would look through the Amazon MAYhem Sale
Tons of good games on sale on there.
A few highlights:
Mark of the Ninja, $3.75
Sleeping Dogs Bundle, $12.99
Firaxis Complete Pack (X-Com EU, Civ V, Civ IV), $19.99
Desert To Sea bundle (Bioshock 1 & 2, Spec Ops: The Line, $9.99
Not your question, but if you're prime you can get the 20% preorder discount on the physical copies (these aren't collectors edition, but you'll likely be able to upgrade to the digital collectors separately like with ARR and HW). Amazon typically ships for the copy to arrive on launch day. I'm not sure how this affects preplay.
so you spend 14 bucks, regular price is 16 on amazon. Good deal if you want to play BF1942, and it's nice that it's two bucks cheaper, but if you're on the fence, this deal wouldn't push me either way.
