Thanks! I'm reading this second paragraph over and over and still kinda scratching my head. I would love to learn electrical I just am struggling. My thought is to get the trailer livable (meaning walls/floor/ceiling/insulation/windows) first and then as I see what it's like to live in it and potentially save up more money I'll slowly continue the build (storage/furniture/luxury stuff/electrical?).

I'm open to solar but the setups I see here are always so complicated and overpowered for what I'd need. What I meant is that something simple like this probably won't work because it doesn't have a battery so it only runs when the sun is out and honestly just seems pretty cheap and shitty in general. My fear on doing my own solar setup is that I would end up spending way more then predicted buying things I struggle to understand that would be heavy and take up a lot of space and possibly be noisy.

My mindset is pretty open to anything if I can understand it and afford it. I am trying to find guides and resources that are more suited my my minimalist needs (heat, ventilation) if you know of any sites/forums/videos/etc. that may be useful I'd love to know. Another challenge is that most of what I see is geared towards vehicles.

That will create suction on the end of the hose if it's in the wind. Ideally, on the roof. I suppose you could try mounting it under the floor, reversed. No idea if that will help.

Otherwise you may have to do something to upgrade your fan situation. The tiny computer fan that's in there just can't compete with the other pressures. A 12 cm fan with higher capacity might be able to do the job but fitting it onto the hose would take some fabrication work.

You'll just have to keep your windows closed when you drive so the pressure in the van isn't dramatically lower than it is outside.

Other people have had this same issue when they have all their other ventilation closed, and turn their Maxxair or Fantastic fan to warp speed. The huge fan and all those cubic feet per minute of air just completely overwhelm the tiny little fan in the toilet and it doesn't have a prayer of keeping the air flowing the right way.

Actually it is this video. (In my area, going through the side gable is not up to code.)

This was the kit I bought which made things easy. I wrapped the vent pipe in insulation which I bought at Home Depot.

I watched the video a few times then went to work. Pretty easy.

Those are most likely just vent covers. You can do something like this:
Amazon

I guess this is a complete cheap setup as well
Or if you are DIY handy, you can grab a powerful PC fan, wire it up, get a cover if you need to keep rain out, and install the whole thing yourself

Have you been in the attic to see where its coming from?

Might be from a roof vent that is leaking. Most will last about the life of the roof but could have been damaged during install, squirrels, etc...
Very easy fix with something like these...

Take some pictures and post.

It shouldn't since your p-traps should keep any gasses out of the RV from the grey tank.

I'd look for the anti-siphon valves. They're usually under a sink, they usually look like this.

Everything I've read advises against pressure washing roofs. Only soft washes are ok. If it's energy savings you're looking for, I might suggest some more insulation in the attic, and one of those pink panther insulation covers for your attic stairs. That has done a lot for my home.

I used one of these for years, a flue cap I bought at Home Depot. Amazon link
Edited to add: the flue cap sat on top of the daisy wheel.

Now I use this from Smokeware. link

I was thinking about this one:

They make covered roof vents for bathroom fans, but they usually need to be sealed with roofing material. You can probably just throw one of these onto your existing outlet.

u/ildar15 · 2 pointsr/Nest

No. You can't connect two thermostats to a single HVAC. That is why you need this Nest Sensor.

Maybe this one would help you, but not sure

I added one of these - https://smile.amazon.com/Solar-Powered-Attic-Watt-W-Ventilator/dp/B00M0NI4PS/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=solar+powered+attic+fan&qid=1554429795&s=gateway&sr=8-3 to my greenhouse.

At 86 degrees F, it kicks on and really does well to pull the hot air out and pull the outside air through side vents.

Cheap enough and runs itself once installed.

u/09Klr650 · 1 pointr/electrical

Why not just buy a solar powered car window fan and take it apart? As long as you keep all the wiring labeled no worries. Or if you need more airflow than that there are premanufactured solar powered roof ventilators.

u/PerilousAll · 1 pointr/gardening

Shade cloth, as others have said. Do you have any venting in there? You can probably find a solar powered vent fan to exhaust the worst of the heat.
