OMG I am so sorry! that sucks!

I have a Great Cuisinart Toaster oven convection, rotisserie. But it is not full size like some are. I usually am only cooking for myself or myself and my husband. so it works great for us.

https://www.amazon.com/Cuisinart-TOB-200N-Rotisserie-Convection-Stainless/dp/B06WLHXYQL/ref=sr_1_fkmrnull_3?

I love it have had it for about 6 years now? and cook everything in it. but again it is one of the smaller ones you can't cook at 12" pizza in it. etc.

I would also recommend buying extra pans for this oven

these are heavy and fit 2 chicken breasts perfectly

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0187ZG7RE/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I would also suggest an air fryer, (XL size) they are awesome for fast cooking if the item calls for 20 minutes in the oven at any temp. (mine only goes up to 390 F.) I set the air fryer on 390, and turn it on for 12 minutes. the stuff will usually be done perfectly within that time. Just about exactly Half the time of the oven baking time.

I have a philips this one. had it for 5 years now and cook in it a lot!

https://www.amazon.com/Philips-HD9240-94-Digital-Airfryer/dp/B00TR78QUI/ref=sr_1_1?

I hope you find some great stuff for your (non kitchen) to make it your own. Good Luck!

Thanks for your input. Price is not a barrier, per se, but price needs to be proportional to value. If I'm going to drop two or three grand on a toaster oven, it had better be built like a tank, do everything the best, look great, and last for 50 years before being re-furbished to last another 50. Oh yeah, and a lifetime warranty.

Basically, it had better be a daily source of joy for the next 5 decades, or my wife will have serious issues with my spending 10x any other high-end toaster oven.

Any thoughts on the Cuisinart models TOB-200 and TOB-260? It seems to get nothing but very good to great reviews. This Kitchenaid KCO273SS also seems to get very strong reviews.

I've got nothing in terms of getting the gas fixed, but I have a few suggestions for your cooking and shower needs. If any new ideas come to mind for gas repairs I'll definitely let you know.

My mom's oven broke a few years ago and it was one of those "built into the wall" ones that was stupid expensive to replace. So till they could save up she got a countertop convection like this one (I think that might be the actual model). She still uses it all the time because she likes it more than the real oven, lol. Between that and a hot plate you can have something stove-ish for about $100. It's not as good as your gas stove, and it's not free, but you'll be able to cook stuff more easily. If you have a crock pot that'll help too as I'm sure you already know.

Also, for situations when you have water and sewer but not hot water, a camping shower bag ($20-ish) is a decent solution. The water heats pretty darn fast if you set the bag in the sun, and it's nice to be able to shower at home. (You could also use an electric kettle to heat water and fill the bag with a combo of boiling water and cold tap water.) I have long hair and the shower bag is still enough for me if I do a "navy shower."

I wish I could do more, but I'm thinking of you and hoping your tomorrow is brighter than today.

You only need to make the tent like an inch high. Just enough to cover splatter but have some room for airflow really. :) been doing this for 3 years now.

Helps that I have a fancier model toaster oven that has a few different rack positions...I pretty much always keep it on middle or low to fit everything in. I have literally done baked ricotta in my toaster oven as well, which is becoming the party thing I am known for bringing. It’s pretty lit. You can do this in a standard one too just make sure you have a solid inch or preferably 2 of clearance and turn off the toaster oven or better yet unplug it before removing the roasted veg from the oven for safety. More for burn risk than anything. It’s hot!

> A convection oven costs more, has more internal area (more space to heat) and just seems more wasteful compared to an air fryer.

The saying goes: buy once, cry once. I have this convection oven and would not hesitate to buy an higher end model if I had to buy it again. Yes its not as good as having a dedicated toaster or dedicated air fryer, but it's pretty damn good at being a compact oven replacement that takes only a minute to warm up.

I use it for literally everything that will fit: making toast, baking a single tray of cookies, baking pies, reheating pizza, keeping foods warm or making beef jerky (use 200°F with the door cracked open), very easily making perfectly cooked bacon without splattering grease everywhere, etc...

A Philips Airfryer is $169 on Amazon, my cheapie convection toaster was like $50 and does all those things mentioned above... Just put that air fryer money on getting the high end Breville Convection Toaster. How often do you need to reheat fries or chicken nuggets anyway?

  • The current kitchen (which is pretty much a sink and a fridge!) can handle multiple devices and is wired for it. There are breakers I'm assuming but not really sure where. I will ask.
  • I have no idea, good question to ask.
  • I don't, there's a yard in the back with a grill but it's totally uncovered. I wouldn't want to cook outside every day, it rains and gets cold and stuff.
  • Budget is... not great but I have savings and could drop some on the right solution. I think I could talk the other people into dropping some money into it as well. That's pretty much why I am asking here, I'm looking at stuff like this and wondering if they work. I'd miss baking chicken and desserts and such! I also dunno what to do about a stove! If it turns out this place is more hassle than it's worth... well, it's an incredible opportunity but I can't justify eating out every day for a year just to live in a cartoon.

Can you link me to the things you were looking into? Did you end up buying and using them? Thank you!
u/SlightlySweet · 3 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

This toaster oven would be a dream come true because I do not have a ACTUAL oven. The house I moved into didn't have a working oven, so I've been using a little toaster oven to make meals for my family until we can save up enough money to replace our appliances. (The fridge leaks a lot too, so we want to save to replace both) my current toaster oven is really old and doesnt have half the cooking modes this one does, and mine cooks unevenly, plus it's a smaller toaster oven so this one would be a nice upgrade.

Under $20 would be these they would allow me to cook a bit better in my current toaster oven.

C'mon...gimme

u/touchmystuffIkillyou · 1 pointr/AskReddit

The pro move here is to find a combo microwave / toaster oven that looks like a microwave. Rival used to make an MT 660 that fit the bill, but looks like it's discontinued.

There's combos like this but that might look too much like a toaster oven.

A convection oven combo like this could be passed off as a microwave, but I'd prefer a horizontal swing door for passability.

You get the idea.

u/Ankheg2016 · 1 pointr/BuyItForLife

I didn't buy my toaster oven from amazon but it's Black and Decker, fits a 12" pizza, and has a convection fan. I think it's around 3 years old now and I still like it... I think it cost around $60 in a random store. This is probably it here:

https://www.amazon.com/BLACK-DECKER-TO4314SSD-WCR-076-Rotisserie/dp/B00CS3OBNO/ref=sr_1_8?crid=2UAL9C2PO76CK&keywords=black+and+decker+convection+toaster+oven+12+inch+pizza&qid=1566282060&s=gateway&sprefix=black+and+decker+toaster+oven+12%22+p%2Caps%2C199&sr=8-8

You should probably think about what the largest item is you'd want to toast. For me it's frozen pizzas, and I wanted to get one that would comfortably fit most pizzas that I was likely to buy.

u/Chive · 3 pointsr/Cooking

I'd start buying fresh fruit once a week to complement and sometimes replace the McDonald's and Taco Bell. I think that's the bare minimum.
Other than that I would get some sort of cooking facilities- maybe a crock pot as suggested elsewhere or a countertop oven and hotplate- probably better if you can get them combined. If I had room, and cash, after that then I might also want a minifridge. It's an expensive outlay initially but would save a lot of money in the long run as well as improve diet considerably.

u/brokenspoke · 25 pointsr/TinyHouses

A good sink.

We do a lot of "meat and three" types of meals, which means we tend to make a lot of dirty dishes (at least compared to an average TH dweller). A 20" bar sink would not cut it for us, but we were able to find at 26" two-basin sink that lets dishes soak in the larger basin and rinse off over the smaller basin. Also, we kept the routed piece of butcher block that we cut out for the sink insert, and just drop it back in place over the sink if we want to hid the dishes or have extra counter space.

Appliance wise, +1 on the convection toaster oven. We bought [one that's big enough] (https://www.amazon.com/Oster-TSSTTVXLDG-Digital-Toaster-Stainless/dp/B004USWRA4/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1465581645&sr=8-9&keywords=oster+convection+oven) for a 9x13" casserole dish, and haven't missed having a full-size oven yet. We opted for a two-burner propane range for two reasons:

  1. Propane burners make it easier for us to run the whole house on 20 amps!
  2. Mounted fore-and-aft, a two burner range doesn't take up more counter space than a plug-in single burner. Though you do give up that counter space permanently.

We have a slow cooker, which is as useful as slow cookers ever are, but I'm not sure if we're going to keep it long term. For one, it's big. And aside from super low-effort stuff like throwing a pork shoulder+can of coke in there in the morning before work, there's not a lot the slow cooker does that I can't do with an oven and range.
u/boredstayathomemom · 2 pointsr/Mommit

in my opinion, the oven is the least important. you can buy one of those counter top rotisserie ovens, for roasts, chickens, ect. a garden, is awesome. outside time is priceless at that age. water play, messy play, and just a change of scenery for an hour.
i couldnt live without a bathtub. baths. for kids, for me.
a larger flat is not as important, if you have outdoor space for burning off energy. it will also help you on colder, rainy days to have a shorter walk to activities.

Meh, red meat should be eaten in moderation, this is not news. You can do a pretty effective stew or small roast in a small countertop oven

u/thelivinlegend · 1 pointr/recipes

I have this one and I've been incredibly happy with it due to its performance as an air fryer and the other functions. I can't compare it to any other model, but for the $70 I paid for it at Wal-Mart, it's performed admirably.

u/wrapunzel · 4 pointsr/C_S_T

They are not all created equal, I strongly recommend this one if you can find it

Hamilton Beach Easy Reach Oven with Convection, Silver (31126) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00QC2M7VA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_vBSSAb0K46G1W

It can be super annoying to burn your hands or drop food on the oven door if it opens down, and many are narrow, this one is fairly spacious

u/baccgirl · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

G'day, I'm a little new to all of this, so hope this helps!

Instead of the bowl/utensil set, go with This one it's 23 pieces $39.98 then grab These bowls for only $8.99
Don't buy any books, there is more info online.
For shampoo, just use bicarbonate of soda (in a bottle and mix with warm water) then after using that, rinse off with apple cider vinegar. Natural and will clean your hair! (Just don't start eating salad in the shower). Cheap enough at about $5 for 2 months of washing hair.
This one is $10 cheaper and would do the same thing!

I don't know if this is what you are after, but judging from the other answers on here I think I may have done what you asked. If not, sorry!

Edit: also make your own GF flour!

1 1/2 cups (240 g) brown rice flour.
1/2 cup (96 g) potato starch.
1/4 cup (40 g) white rice flour.
1/4 cup (30 g) tapioca flour.
optional: 1 tsp xanthan gum (not necessary).

u/damm_ · 3 pointsr/CannabisExtracts

The solution to your problem with the oven is to get a throw away oven.

https://www.amazon.com/BLACK-DECKER-4-Slice-Convection-TO1750SB/dp/B071WXD3HX/

Cost me 30$ at my local store but it's what I use for decarbing. 12" Oven so it's not big enough for a large pizza but perfect for whatever you need extract wise.

Cheap enough that you can toss it when you are done if you don't need it again (or you destroy it)

u/d6stringer · 3 pointsr/Cooking

Might have included that in the first place ;)

Wouldn't a countertop oven be better than a bread machine? More expensive sure but oh to have an oven!
Oster Extra Large Digital Countertop Convection Oven, Stainless Steel (TSSTTVDGXL-SHP) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00OXSR486/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_Y8TXDbQER04MA

u/bigd5783 · 1 pointr/amazonecho

IMHO I can't justify spending $600 on a counter top oven. I've got this one. Oster Extra Large Digital Countertop Convection Oven, Stainless Steel (TSSTTVDGXL-SHP) https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00OXSR486/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_hyJ6BbEWG7CFJ and I like it. It was only 100$ when I bought it about a year ago. 600$ to add some fancy features that may or may not work. I just can't justify the extra 500$

Toaster oven

You can cook just about anything in one. Pizzas, cookies, toast, beans, rice, cakes, pies, steak, hamburgers etc. etc.

Save you money on food in the long run.

u/sandepants · 2 pointsr/ffxiv

If you get one of those large toaster ovens the pre-heat is much faster :)

u/BeckyDaTechie · 1 pointr/EatCheapAndHealthy

Fifthing or sixthing the toaster oven. I cook for, at most, 2 people, and my smoke and CO2 alarm goes off every time I open the oven door if I'm running it higher than 300*. A large toaster oven can accommodate 2 individual pizzas or a small casserole dish.

There's also this puppy which makes my space-challenged, efficiency-minded heart go all fluttery.

u/some_random_kaluna · 2 pointsr/Frugal

Get a convection oven. They're a smaller version of the real thing, and you can cook lasanga or french fries or cake in them.

EDIT: Like this one: http://www.amazon.com/Hamilton-Beach-Countertop-Convection-Rotisserie/dp/B0059KY05M/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1382339578&sr=8-3&keywords=convection+oven

u/tipsycup · 2 pointsr/xxketo4u2

Okay, so I did not want a one use appliance and I needed a toaster oven too, so I got this one. Full disclosure: I have only had it a week and am still figuring it out. The poutine will be the inaugural chicken wing attempt.

Nope. Most modern ranges that are above the base price points are convection ovens. For example

Note the keyword there, "countertop". That one is closer to an air fryer, though likely with slower moving air. That is not "typical" at all, but that is one small subset of the convection oven market. Probably 75% of convection ovens are built in, and then the next largest segment would be built in to microwaves. The countertop toaster oven modes are relatively uncommon.

In that price range, I'm asking for a countertop convection oven this year. I want the Kitchenaid model, which is around $130. This one is in your price range and has good reviews: http://www.amazon.com/Hamilton-Beach-31197-Countertop-Convection/dp/B0002HDWNS/ref=sr_1_9?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1323112630&sr=1-9

I want one because I hate wanting to bake but not wanting to heat up the whole house in summer by turning on the oven.

u/hutacars · 9 pointsr/financialindependence

My apartment doesn't have an oven, so I've been getting by with my small toaster. Since I like to batch cook, I'd been considering replacing it with this (best model name ever BTW) as it's one of the largest units available, but kept putting it off due to the cost. Went to a neighborhood yard sale last week and found this unit, 9/10 condition, for $5. It's slightly smaller, but it does have two racks, it's convection, and it was five freaking dollars.

Delaying purchases for the right deal to come along really does work!
