Thanks man here is my set-up

I drive a 2008 Tacoma SR5 4.0L 6 speed Access Cab (Love this truck).

I use these tie-downs

These happijac rear bumber tie-downs

And I installed Firestone Ride-rite air bags... This is a must have the truck rides and feels so much more stable with them! I ran the airlines in the fuel door next to the fill nozzle. That way it reminds me to check airbag pressure when I am filling up.

The tie downs I chose were for me the most economical way to go. Very easy to install as well.

I also found some awesome towing mirrors (not shown in the picture) through a Group Buy on tacomaworld.com .. They are ProEFX towing mirrors and they are basically Dodge mirrors for the Tacoma.

Haha, it's not female friendly, but super practical for converting unused space.

I got it at Harbor Freight, it is the kind designed to cover a pickup truck bed. I want to say it was around 15 to 20 dollars. Then another couple bucks for the eyebolts.

Let me know how it works out if you go this route. Good luck with the wife!

*note

The bolts aren't at the 'very top' looking at it now they are 4 or 5 inches down from the ceiling.

I actually used a D ring similar to this to insure there would be no issues with it bearing the weight.

u/csaliture · 2 pointsr/AwesomeCarMods

That would be nice but I think having some nice pop up anchor points like this integrated into the bed pan would look just as nice.

For 77 dollars? Heck no. You could build yourself something more versatile for less. On amazon there is this set of resistance bands for 29 dollars that includes 4 other resistance bands plus additional accessories including an ankle cuff that you can use for the elbow cuff. You can buy a piece of PVC pipe cut it to about the size of your 6 iron put two of these grips, which cost $7, on the pvc using an adhesive. Find something similar and smaller than this and screw it into the pvc and you’ve just created exactly what they’re trying to sell you. All told you’ll probably spend about 40 bucks and you’ll get the added benefit of regular length resistance bands

I hope this helps you, I’m not knocking the product it’s just absurdly expensive for what you’re getting. There are many exercises you can do with the extra resistance bands with hands. Rotational exercises using the band can increase your core strength and hip strength.

I made a desk like this when I was in school. Just use two lengths of rope or cord instead of a chain. One on each side. You can buy accessory cord or paracord that has 500 pound break strength, so that is plenty strong. If you're paranoid, buy some spectra or dyneema cord with a break strength of a couple of tons.

To attach it you can use something like this: http://www.amazon.com/Progrip-822640-Surface-Mount-4-Pack/dp/B000HAEPAO/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1422330938&sr=8-7&keywords=d+ring

and just tie the string to them.

eta: If you do find that you you pull out the screws, you could always just glue a 1" thick square on top of surface and then sink a longer screw.

u/DoctrVendetta · 1 pointr/Trucks

Here's some horshoe rope cleats I know yours are round, but i can't find the whole circle, plus these are better because you can fit a rope in a lot easier, you'll have to get 6 as they're different than what's on the truck.

Howdy!
I'm 135 kg and 1.90 tall (300, 6'2") and my setup is described [here] (http://www.reddit.com/r/Hammocks/comments/2o36ju/anyone_know_of_any_good_mayan_hammocks_i_could_buy/) as well as links to the same type of hammock. I have two columns that are just about the right distance a part so I have [something very similar to this] (http://www.amazon.com/Erickson-34416-Retractable-Ratcheting-Tie-Down/dp/B005C2ACBI/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1420494647&sr=8-7&keywords=ratcheting+tie+downs) wrapped and tightened around the posts, with an S hook hanging off of the retention ring. It's worked for me.

Since I'm not using mine for backpacking, the weight was far less important to me than the comfort, so I got a model that's quite large (yesterday I took a nap with wifey in the hammock, neither of us were uncomfortable).

I'll try to take some pictures and post them as an edit, because perhaps my setup is a bit atypical and it would help some on here. I do also hang inside from time to time, as the house was built with hammock hangers inside. Hope this helps!

u/cheez0r · 3 pointsr/Trackdays

One note- when I had that trailer (it was my first m/c trailer, I have a 16' enclosed trailer now) I put Pit Posse/Pingel-style chocks on it and was able to put 3 sets of mounting plates in the 3 bike positions (left, center, right) at the right spacing for the bikes to co-exist, and then could swap from a single-bike with one chock to a two-bike setup with two chocks in like 30 seconds. Coupled with a cheap ATV ramp as wide as the trailer it was a very cheap and easy trailering setup. Add some nice strapping points around the edge of the trailer and it'll do the job well for a long time.

If you're planning to keep it a while, adding additional bolt-in bracing to the deck isn't a bad idea, or even just some 2x4 stiffening cross-members to help keep the trailer from "taco-ing" when you strap down the bikes.

You're at best going to slow someone down. Nothing like this is going to stop someone with tools and time from stealing the hardware. I'm guessing the hardware isn't the real liability and instead the data is. In that case I recommend focusing instead on implementing automated full system disk Encryption using TPM.

But if you just want a visual deterrent that would slow someone a bit, some nonprofits I've worked with have just Epoxied something like these surface mount D-Rings to the server:

https://www.amazon.com/SPEP-com-Pack-Ring-Steel-Tie-Downs/dp/B07H949WCL/ref=sr_1_11?keywords=surface+mount+D+Ring&qid=1571172791&sr=8-11

Then used a cable to lock it to another mount on the floor or a wall. Personally, if I were going through the hassle of some DIY solution like this, I would also push for putting in a basic security camera targetting the server.

u/SlainByWoodborne · 6 pointsr/BdsmDIY

I've been considering something like this for a while using cedar. Please reconsider the screw eyes and use tie-down rails so the tie points are adjustable. The following is an example, powder coated or stainless would be a better option.

u/Barcslay · 11 pointsr/homegym

Yep. Just go to the hardware store, buy some paracord, some carabiners, chain that can fit between your plates, a heavy duty pulley, and order these:

Soft Loop Tie-Down Straps, 6pk x 18in, 3600lbs https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01DF3N3Q6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_H8yhzbWF2VR86

Cut paracord to length, run through the pulley, and loop each end. One end will have a carabiner and chain for attaching plates, the other end will be your attachment of choice; I like to use a big carabiner and a small towel in place of a rope for tricep extensions. The soft tie will loop around your pull-up bar and attach to the pulley with a carabiner.

My boyfriend uses truck tie-downs (a set used specifically for that purpose). I'm not entirely sure how he made it work, but he attached the short part to the bed frame, loops one end of the longer part around my wrists / ankles, and works the other end through the clicky-thing until it's pulled tight. I've never really taken the time to appreciate how it works while he's tying me down; I'm generally too preoccupied. But MAN that clicky sound gets me going every time now.

The fabric is extremely sturdy, doesn't cut into my skin, and once he's got it set up, I'm not going anywhere.

Here's an Amazon link to the tie downs.

u/jasonseannn · 1 pointr/vandwellers

Definitely! They’re form amazon and just bolt on. Find them here

u/TacoDaTugBoat · 2 pointsr/VEDC

They sell all kinds of D ring attachment points.

Something like this.

Install a pan head bolt through the top, washer and lock but on the bottom.

u/Kibaku · 1 pointr/MotoUK

I like the oxford ground lock, it may be thinner but it's wider overall so means more cutting required.

Also a 120db Disc lock scares the shit out of scrotes

Cargo Bull Rings for the Bed

Ratchet Straps

Mult-gift set of a grit guard, large waffle-weave micofiber towel, and 1) some 2) good 3) soap

Stubby antenna because the stock one makes the truck look like an RC car

An actual RC Colorado ZR2

u/name_witheld · 2 pointsr/Wrangler

They came with my jeep too ('93 YJ). This is what the dealer told me...

You can unbolt the roll bar and fold the windshield forward on those hinges. The straps are for securing it to the hoops on the hood. I still have a few floating around in a strap bag.

Edit: Windshield tie down straps

I’ll start the first row on the passenger side, Gardner Bender at the base of the stem on the first scooter on one of these up against cab of the truck. That’ll hold the first one from falling over. Adjustable bungee in a V shape from the tie downs inside the bed around the back tires of the scooters. Once the passenger side is secured by the tailgate loading the driver side will lock in by the wheels. If the load gets off set or starts to slide back I’ll put Gardner around the lowers of the stems.

I have a cargo net that goes across from the hooks nearest the door. This works well for groceries and travel bags.

I also have cargo nets on the side walls just incase. But those haven't been useful yet.

I have the same car, same racks. Just go to any surf shop and get a dual strap kit with some cushions for the rack bars. Mine are dakine, lasted 2 years so far and I've carried up to 3 boards.

These are the straps: http://www.amazon.com/Dakine-Tie-Down-Straps-Black/dp/B0015PYNC0/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1425832188&sr=8-2&keywords=dakine+surf+straps
