I️ actually just got a weighted blanket for myself from Amazon—the brand is Calmforter (hope I️ did that link correctly!)
It’s amazing—I️ love it, and my sleep quality has gotten so much better. I️ did a lot of price comparing too, and I️ think it’s just an expensive product. Every time I️ found something that was under about $150, I️ got all excited only to find out that the low price was for a kid-sized blanket. Mine is 12 pounds, which I️ think is technically a few pounds lighter than recommended for my body weight, but I’m very happy with it.
Not sure about brands. Mine’s just a no-name version from Amazon, but it’s holding up great (bought it in October 2017). It was about $200 at the time (which I felt insane for spending on a blanket, but I was desperate), but it looks like prices have dropped. I see several nice-looking 25lb blankets in the $120-$150 range.
My impression is that they'd be too heavy for our (admittedly picky) preferences. That said, this 15 lb king size one from amazon seems like it might be good. But I really can't tell how cool it is (it looks like a normal warm comforter), and I don't really want to roll the dice on $140.
Its held up really well and was the only brand that had a king size.

Can't call it BIFL but I bought this one for my wife 8 months ago and am completely satisfied with it. Cover washed many times and is still soft, been abused by cats dogs and toddlers and is holding up well.
Only gripe is I ripped one of the inner ties that holds the cover in place from trying to tie it too tight. Needle thread and a strip of fabric and it's good as new.

Need: A small couch for my apartment that I live in with my partner.
