Top Reddit comments about Automotive Replacement Fuel Tanks & Accessories:

I would browse amazon and such and see what reviews state, like these:

http://www.amazon.com/Versachem-90180-Heavy-Duty-Fuel-Repair/dp/B002N5JAO2

http://www.amazon.com/Permatex-09101-Fuel-Tank-Repair/dp/B000ALDYIO

You can easily weed out the idiots of reviews that didn't follow directions or clean the surface and prep correctly, that does make all the difference.

I would hope you aren't inside the tank as you are under the car repairing, any repairs needed from inside I would highly recommend the replacement tank instead, but if you meant what else should you look for while under the car? You can always look at the gas tank strap and ensure it isn't damaged or screwed up in any way. Also if you do end up replacing the tank then get some undercoating spray in a can and after installed and tested then take the strap down, spray coating where the strap wass and while still wet replace strap, then coat the rest of the tank thoroughly, it makes a world of difference and helps bind the strap from moving as well.

I've replaced the fill neck twice (on a 98S and an 01L), I hope you have tiny hands and good grip because getting the end out of the rubber hose above the subframe is challenging. Also do not buy the dorman neck, it doesn't fit right. The spectra one is a perfect fit https://www.amazon.com/Spectra-Premium-FN664-Fuel-Filler/dp/B006GZAQOI

Is there some reason it cannot be patched? JB weld baby. They even make a special gas tank repair kit. How big is this hole? Is it rusted out or something? How about an after market plastic tank? It might be a little smaller but I would think that it would be a lot cheaper.

JB Weld Gas Tank Kit is $12

tank is only $150 on Amazon

That will be $500 consultation fee for saving you more than $1,000 it is a great deal.

It should be fine. To replace the fuel filler neck, get a replacement. Like so:

https://www.amazon.ca/SCITOO-F47Z9034P-Filler-1990-1997-1994-1997/dp/B07JLYT2KS?SubscriptionId=AKIAILSHYYTFIVPWUY6Q&tag=duc12-20&linkCode=xm2&camp=2025&creative=165953&creativeASIN=B07JLYT2KS

Then, you just undo the 3 screws in the fuel filler door to release the top of the filler neck, unplug the rear disconnect for the taillights, undo the 6 bed bolts, and remove the bed. Then replacing the filler neck is easy.

Keep in mind I'm just surmising. Also, I don't know your year and model.

https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=ford+ranger+filler+neck+replacement

I've done it before. It's a one-person job if you just lift one side of the bed, if you actually want to fully pull off the bed, it'll take 2 people.

Note that if you actually pull off the bed, that's an excellent time to rustproof the rear frame, replace the rear shocks, change your rear diff fluid, etc etc.

A few of my friends have gotten a WiFi Oil Gauge on Amazon that seems to work well. I have not personally tested it, but I have heard good things.

https://www.amazon.com/Smart-Oil-Gauge-Heating-Compatible/dp/B01M2VATHS/ref=sr_1_cc_1?s=aps&ie=UTF8&qid=1543264188&sr=1-1-catcorr&keywords=wifi+oil+gauge

u/SherSlick · 3 pointsr/homeautomation

Did a little googling and found this thing:

https://www.amazon.com/Smart-Oil-Gauge-Wi-Fi-Heating/dp/B01M2VATHS/ref=pd_lpo_60_tr_t_3?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=1TKKWDC6TX086W81BV51

I honestly am thinking on the path of a basic sender in the tank that gives a level reading via variable resistance. Then connect this to something like a RaspberryPi to interface with HomeAssistant.

But I have not worked with HomeAssistant so I am unsure what kinds of info it can take/handle.

I ride with a 22L backpack and a 5L jerry can strapped to the back. I go solo and haven't yet gathered the courage to do a night out (though it's on my bucket list), so it's always been day trips.

Goal is to get a Rotopax and mount it flat on the back and then a duffle bag on top, plus a backpack (I have 22L and 36L), would be more than enough for a few days.

This is what you want. Dead simple to install yourself in minutes, customer support is great and it has been reliable. Note that the readings are not very accurate when tank is filled, but that’s because it is tuned to be more accurate as tank empties.

This is the stuff that I used.

https://www.amazon.com/KREEM-Gas-Tank-Sealer-Kit/dp/B00IKKQ2U4

Basically it is an acid wash to clean up the inside of the tank and score the metal so the epoxy has something to grab onto and then the epoxy coats the entire tank from the inside.

u/MalignanceDefined · 2 pointsr/Diesel

Besides the different sender/pump and different dimensions to clear emissions components?

I bought this a year or two ago and am really liking it, although its a little pricy. It hooks up to your phone and sends email/texts when you’re low.

Is this it? https://www.amazon.com/APDTY-01100-Fuel-Hose-Clamp/dp/B074FJVJGC/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=12338007&qid=1558720951&s=automotive&sr=1-2-catcorr

Do you happen to know the dimensions, and how it tightens? I assume that I can adjust back and forth the tabs on the side?

u/npete87 · 2 pointsr/OBSFords

Spectra makes an upgrade for the rear tank I dont know about a forward one though. https://www.amazon.com/Spectra-Premium-F26E-Fuel-Pickup/dp/B000C7TW5K

u/peetzapie · 1 pointr/MechanicAdvice

You need to put the lines back on, don't have to lock them, and clean all the dirt around the ring.

Lube up the ring with penetrant like WD-40 and use this tool with a long bar: https://www.amazon.com/Lisle-63000-Fuel-Tank-Lock/dp/B0079GPYA4/ref=sr_1_8?keywords=fuel+pump+tool&qid=1558695305&s=automotive&sr=1-8

Using a chisel or screwdriver will just break the tabs off of the ring, you can try but.... I've used extra large locking pliers before but they wear the tabs too plus there's no room for the jaws.

u/driftsc · 1 pointr/Cartalk

Check this out.

I think it is the solution to your problem. It's available through amazon, autozone, and various other vendors.

u/adoptagreyhound · 6 pointsr/preppers

Maybe it's time for a Wi-Fi connected oil tank gauge. No affiliation or experience with this one - just the first result when I looked for one. https://www.amazon.com/Smart-Oil-Gauge-Heating-Compatible/dp/B01M2VATHS
