Alright, sounds good. A very basic recommendation would be a Spyderco Endura, which is a great knife in VG-10 stainless steel. In this steel you should occasionally oil your blade, but that's really it. If that looks too big, the Spyderco Delica is the same knife, essentially, but smaller. Another good Spyderco would be the Spyderco Stretch, also in VG-10. All three of these have strong back locks.

For a slightly more expensive knife, the Spyderco Manix 2 comes in 154CM stainless steel and a hard-use ball bearing lock.

The Benchmade Griptilian comes in 154CM stainless steel and has the second strongest lock on the market on it- the axis lock. There's also a version with a thumb hole instead of a thumb stud.

The Buck TM Vantage Pro comes in S30V stainless steel- one of the better steels available up until the $150 mark- but only costs about $60, and is by far the cheapest knife of its size available in S30V.

The Kershaw Blur in S30V is an amazing assisted knife in good steel. The Kershaw Junk Yard Dog is a great folder in a composite of a couple of good steels.


The Zero Tolerance 0700 is kind of funny looking but a solid knife in S30V.

So far, all of these are within your price range. Now, I'll move up just a bit and double it- you're now looking at a $200 range.


The Manix 2 XL in S30V is one of the strongest folders out there. It's definitely a hard-use knife and will survive a hell of a lot.

The Benchmade 275 Adamas is probably the strongest folder in existence. It's in D2 tool steel and has an incredibly robust axis lock that was beefed up to take more damage.

The Spyderco Caly 3.5 in ZDP-189 steel is an incredible knife in fantastic blade steel. I wish they made more things in it, I really do.

The Spyderco Techno is a bit smaller but will certainty last nonetheless.

The Spyderco Sage in S30V will do it for ya, that's for sure.

I'd love me some Benchmade Emissary in S30V.

The ZT 0350 is a folding tank.

All of these knives will last for whatever you want to do with them. Some are too heavy to reasonably EDC, like the BM Adamas and the ZT 0350, but others, like the BM Griptilian, are perfect EDC knives.

  My Thoughts
  
  Firstly, I would advise against using any knife as a go-to seatbelt cutter. For safety reasons you don't want to accidentally stab the person whose seatbelt you want to cut. Especially since tanto blade shapes are designed to maximize tip strength for stabbing/penetration. For your emergency needs I feel this or this would be better.
  
  As for camping, a tanto blade is not "ideal" but for the tasks you I assume you'll be doing I think you'll be ok. A blade with a nice belly (the curved part of a blade, like a drop point) has more utility as it will be easier to slice food, and offer you a bit better control. But I mean if you like the tanto shape than by all means =).
  
  If you feel like you're not going to have it on your person everyday, then that Kershaw RJI should be more than sufficient for your needs. Just because Kershaw's price are lower, they definitely do not feel like "cheapies"! Kershaw has great build quality, 8cr13MoV is an OK steel, and will be easy to touch up.
  
  I haven't had any experience with SOG so I can't say much about them, other than that /r/knives is a fan of the SOG Flash. As for ZT, they are wonderful knives. they are a little big to have in the pocket, but the quality and craftmanship is definitely there. For how lightly you will use it, If I were in your shoes, I am not sure if I can justify this as a first buy, unless you have a real appreciation for knives.

  They are all around the same blade size, and same "look" as your suggested 3. The first 3 are around the same price range as the Kershaw RJI and are community proven knives. The last is around the price range of the ZT 0700, but in my opinion is a better buy. Griptilians are a joy to use.
  
  That's my $0.02, hopefully I didn't overwhelm you too much!

Obviously, it will depend on what he's already gotten for himself, what you can afford, what kind of sailing he's doing, and where you are.

You know your dad, I don't, but I'm going to suggest that a genuinely antique spyglass isn't going to have the utility you are envisioning. If he has a den/study/other area to display a curio, then fine, but it probably shouldn't be knocked around and soaked in the ways it will while sailing. In my limited experience, here are some things most sailors might need, in no particular order:

• PFD--Personal Floatation Device, "lifejacket". If it's a drier cruising style of sailing, [an automatic inflating vest] ( http://www.amazon.com/Revere-ComfortMax-Inflatable-Automatic-30-52-Inch/dp/B000EG3VI8/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1370063031&sr=8-6&keywords=automatic+inflatable+life+vest) is great. I linked an inflatable with a safety harness, a good idea for offshore, rough weather but if it's sunny-day and flat water sailing, then a sub-$100 version should be great.
  
  
• A hat they will wear. If you know him just right, you can pick out his "sailing hat" for life. Maybe a ball cap with the perfect logo on it, maybe a hiking/sun hat from the outdoor supplier, maybe a Tilley hat. It will live on the boat and he will wear it as soon as he steps on board.

• Tethers (like "croakies") for abovementioned hats and glasses. It's windy, things prefer to fall overboard than stay attached to you.
  
  
• Foul weather gear. In some places, even when it's nice on land it is cold and wet on the water. You can use hiking style soft/hard shell jackets and rain gear as well as a VAST assortment of sailing-specific jackets and pants. • Books. "Sail Trim" and "Knots" are good places to start. Normally, you should avoid a "for dummies" or "eyewitness" type book for someone who is already sailing.
  
  Does he own the boat? Jackpot! You almost cannot go wrong if you talk to him and do a little bit of research. ALL boats, huge or tiny, need many somethings, all the time, forever. Some silly expensive, others affordable. Charts, Compass, Air-horn, Fenders, Tail-bags, Sheets, Blocks, Cleats, Clutches, Etc., Etc.

Check your local laws on knife size. A lot of states and even some municipalities ban blades over 3 inches for carrying around concealed in your jeans pocket.

I sub to /r/knives and yeah, it is a scary part of the hivemind a lot of the time. Baseless brand loyalty and inane comments daily I'm not really sure about the fetish for wrapping knives they have at the moment. I personally carry a Benchmade on my person daily. Its a utility knife and I am not afraid to beat it up. The shape is good for a variety of tasks I encounter on a daily basis, box cutting, rope cutting, cutting fruit, punching through drywall when running cables, opening things, and the handle subs as a nice bottle opener.

Find a knife that you like the blade shape for your general applications and that fits well in your hand. As far as steel goes, you will want stainless for low maintenance. Carbon steels are great but upkeep on a daily carry can get rough. There are many locking technologies but you want to be sure you get a good one as having a folder collapse on your hand is not a fun thought. I personally like a lot that Spyderco offers, as well as Kershaw. Benchmades Axis lock inspires confidence that the blade wont snap out of place. I had to downsize from a Kershaw I was using when my state passed a law banning knives over 3 inches long or with assisted opening. You really cant go wrong with Spyder, benchmade, or Kershaw. They all are built to last and while there are other better/higher priced knives, generally those are not suited to a DIY utility purpose.

Finding your perfect pocket knife can be as hard or as easy as you like. I see no reason you cant go to Gander Mountain/Cabelas and find one that suits you right. If money is no object like you say, try a few knives out. You wont know until you feel it in your hand.

Aaalright so he's a simple man. I love that. He likes his tools and his gear to be life lasting and that's something I totally agree with.

A strong ass hatchet would be something manly that he might like.

I know this is out of your price range but a good electric Drill saves you so much trouble when you love fixing things around the house.

He has a pocket knife? Why not a multi-tool. I love these things. Super useful. Or a Swiss army knife.

I would love to have any the above mentioned items as gifts so yeah.

Hey, whistles are good to have for emergencies. If there's anybody in whistle shot it's a good deterrent to thieves and muggers of all sort, and is great if you're trapped by or lost during a disaster.

The Boker Subcom and the Kershaw Scallion have been among my noteworthy EDC knives.
The Boker Subcom is great because as a short and fat knife it's far too ridiculous for the knife averse general culture of the city to raise the hue and cry, and yet it has excellent ergonomics and is very small.
The Kershaw Ken Onion (chive, scallion, leek) knives all have an assisted open that can be illegal depending on your country/state/municipality laws. But it's a really solid knife, feels great in my hand, and I like the blade profile.

The Baladéo knives are really attractive and ultra light weight, but I've seen complaints about the frame twisting and the lock giving out even under moderate use.

I don't buy a lot of knives, so little advice on where to buy. I bought the Boker from the EDC forum store. The prices for knives seems comparable or better than Amazon (pre-shipping).

For price, well, you can obviously get a quite serviceable knife for 25-40$, but I've heard a lot of people say they feel like they got what they paid for in a more expensive knife.

Aside from Boker and Kershaw, I see Spyderco and Benchmade mentioned often for knife EDC. (Spyderco makes a keychain knife called the ladybug that half-way to ubiquitous on EDCf's keychain board.)

As for out of the ordinary... I'd have to go with my sliver grippers, and maybe my camping mirror (I've had both the acrylic and the stainless steel, acrylic will eventually crack, steel scratches like crazy, though you can re-polish). Oh, and my Gerber Shard (there are better one-piece keychain tools out there, but you can't beat that price).

There was a great thread a little bit ago with a lot of great advice for starting an EDC. Gave me one or two ideas and recommendations.

• ~$7-8 Sanrenmu 7010/710 - You can find these at Gearbest for cheap as hell when they have sales but they're absolutely $30 worth of knife
  
• ~$10-20 Opinel no.6-12 - Depends on blade size/steel/handle wood. #6 is under 3in blade if that kind of thing matters.

• ~$20-25 Ontario Rat II or Rat I

  Honorable Mention: Case knives. Traditional lockbacks. Hard as nails and pretty to boot. True pocket knives. Your grandfather (possibly great grandfather) had one. Good stuff the lot of them. $25-50 will get you a legacy knife that you can carry and use and then pass to your kid.
  
  You don't need to spend $200 to get a quality, durable, reliable knife. I've owned all of these knives at one time or another and loved every one of them. Sure they needed sharpening more often and sometimes something a little more drastic (Sanrenmus are often cheaper to replace than fix) but the value is insane. Plus, lets face facts; we're much more likely to break out our Cadet when we get box duty than our Sebenza.
  
  Knife enthusiasts (brothers) if there's a weighed and measured cheapo that I forgot, let me know.

The Skeletool doesn't really have any prying ability, but it IS a very cool tool with a few simple and basic funtions and is very lightweight. It would pair well with a Leatherman one piece tool, I'd suggest the Pirahna.

Both the Victorinox Swisstool Spirit and the Leatherman Wave and thier related counterparts have flathead drivers on them that are pretty thick and should support pretty heavy prying loads.

Both have Pliers with cutters, multiple drivers, (though the leatherman uses bits where as the Vic uses fixed drivers) pry bars, and knives and are fairly "average" in size.

Really these are the two best multitools in the world anyone, nothing exceeds these two IMO. You can't go wrong with either. If you need any info I own and carry both (and some others) and should be able to answer any questions if you have any!

Just an FYI, I spend a LOT of time in the woods and put a lot of research into which leatherman to buy. Im so very happy I let a guy at Le Baron talk me into buying the Victorinox SwissTool RS. Its locking mechanism is way better IMO, the selection of tools is a little better, its got a much higher quality feel...all around just a way better product.

Does he spend time in the backcountry? Id highly recommend a Sawyer Mini. Pretty much the best filter you can buy. Can throw it right in line on a camel pack too. Super cool.

Buck or Locking Swiss Army Knife would be my go tos.

I also really like the Camillus 6.5 Ti Folding Rigging Knife which is currently selling for $21. I carried one regularly until I got a Boyes Boat folder, and I think it’s a great value.
(My Amazon Review: Perfect pocket knife for a sailor dreaming of the sea while toiling at a day job) Very pocketable. No clip but it’s lanyard/fob ready. Nice utility shape — No point on the blade so it’s not “stabby”. Blade locks in place and is safely released, even in rolling seas. Reasonable edge that holds well, particularly if you hone it to work, not to shave and it’s easily sharpened and maintained. I use the spike all the time. I know it won’t pass the sniff test of some here, but I carried it for years while far “superior” blades stayed home and it never failed me. I also like that it looks like a tool, not a tacticool weapon. (I have a few of those too but I prefer a lower profile EDC.)

It's probably a little late for input, but I just wanted to throw in a vote for the Kershaw Chive. I have a the shiny black version and it's a great "need to open boxes/envelopes/etc" knife to have around all the time. It's also small and very easy to throw inside of a purse. The fact that it has a very nice assisted open makes it a fun "Idle hands" toy as well.

cant go wrong with a griptilian. beefy and grippy enough, and has such great jimping, that your hands being wet is never going to matter. the axis lock is easier and safer to operate with wet hands than pretty much any other locking system too, IMO. far from flimsy.. 154cm stainless aint no joke. check out the 551 , or the 550hg . i have 2, great folders. easily my choice as an outdoor work knife

I don't know maxam but it has a lot of good reviews on amazon. I do know Camillus and Old Timer though and they make good knives. Camillus would be the one I'd pick but I'd get a maxam too as back up since it's so cheap. Old timer knives are made by Schrade and they are usually good knives.

I've been eyeing different Victorinox tools and I've been meaning to pick up this cadet. I love how thin it is and I like that it is more traditional instead of tactical, makes for a great EDC piece in any situation.

If you like kershaw you can get a blur with S30v steel for around 65$ on amazon if you still want a kershaw. I've never been too impresed with them since I find their build quality to be lacking. They seem to have an excessive amount of blade play and use average quality steels in most of their knives. The a premium steel that can hold a razor sharp working edge. The spyderco delica/endura line is also a great knife. They have full flat ground blades that come razor sharp from the factory with absolutlely no blade play. I personally carry a green delica as one of my edc knives. The dragonfly is also great if you want a knife that dissapears on your person. it is a featherweight knife, that cuts and handles like a much larger knife.

If you are looking for a knife that can take an absolutely harsh beating, I would have to reccomend an Ontario RAT 1 or 2 depending on you size preference. They are a bit heavy in hand compared to other knives it size, but perform just as good as any of my spydercos. It is also on the cheaper side at around 25$.

Vic Swisstool Spirit ,in my personal opinion, is the king of multitools. I absolutely adore mine. F&F is fantastic, tool selection is thoughtful, built very well, and I REALLY love that the tools are on the OUTSIDE of the handle so you don't have to open the pliers first.

I'm going to bust up the Leatherman love train and recommend the Victoronox SwissTools. You can check out the Spirit or the RS/Rescue Tool. While I love my Leatherman Surge, the fit and finish between it and my Swiss RS tool is night and day. My Surge is a beast of a tool the RS tool can keep up with no matter what I am using them for, the RS tool feels like a fine Swiss watch vs the Surge which feels like a finely crafted hammer.

It really depends on what you want out of your multitool. My leatherman skeletool CX often finds itself in my EDC for class/general life, but my leatherman wave finds itself in my pocket or on my belt when I'm working or camping. For a compact, quality multitool, the skeletool is the way to go IMO. The more features, the more weight, and added pocket bulk.

Another good, small multitool that is very compact would be a victorinox cadet but you give up pliers and what not.

More requirements you'd like it to have would help make a better rec!

Here are my personal essentials.

• Spyderco Delica 4: $60 VG-10 steel, comes in tons of colors
  
• Spyderco Endura 4: Larger version of Delica
  
• Morakniv Companion: $12-$20 A really awesome fixed blade, outperforms knives triple it's price.
  
• Victorinox Tinker: $20-25 classic swiss army knife, really great quality in general. Lots of tools but not too many so it's easily pocket carried.
  
• Victorinox Cadet: Smaller Swiss Army Knife, aluminum handles. Lots of colors.
  
• Kershaw Cryo, or Cryo 2: $20-40 steel frame lock, Hinderer design, good price, tons of colors. The Cryo 2 is the same as the Cryo just larger.
  
• Ontaro Rat 1 or 2: $25-30 Classically shaped folders with a very rugged build for a liner lock. The 2 is a smaller version of the 1.
  
  Also, you're going to want a sharpening system that works for you in the long run. I personally use the Spyderco Sharpmaker But there are tons of good sharpening options out there.
  
  P.S: You're going to get a lot of people hating on your Gerbers most likely, that's because they're honestly not worth it in the long run. They use very low quality steel for the price and they don't have the best quality control. I'm not saying your Gerbers are trash or anything. But they definitely won't last very long. Just about all of the knives I listed will last you a lifetime if you treat them right, and oil/sharpen them correctly.

Yes! The Alox Victorinox Cadet (where it has the metal case instead of plastic) is awesome. It's super thin too, it fits in my work dress pants pockets perfectly.

I use it, and the smaller version of it, the Mini Tuff Lite, for most of my carving (full disclosure, I'm a novice wood carver who just enjoys killing time noodling around).

While I generally prefer the inexpensive Cold Steel knives, I do own a dozen or so dedicated carving knives of a wide variety of makers, including some custom knives.

I use the Tuff Lite knives so much that I've got an assortment of them, and have converted some of them to prison-shank style fixed blades by wrapping them heavily for comfort:

They're cheap, sturdy and easy to sharpen. I do use a file to break the edges on the blade spine when I get them, but other than that I find them incredible comfortable to carve with. I frequently complete entire projects with nothing but the Tuff Lite (though I do have a collection of gouges and chisels and such as well, I prefer to work with a knife).

As for knives, how much money are you willing to spend and what sort of tasks will the knife primarily be used for? Cutting threads off your t-shirts? Have yourself a little $39 Leek. Yes, another Kershaw. Get over it. Kershaw makes affordable knives for a variety of tasks.

super thin folder? I don't think you'll find anything that beats the baladeo 22G (they make a 34G and 16G as well, same knives just different size), I have one and its a good little knife, good quality for the price point. I haven't had issues with the frame lock or cutting myself with the closed blade like some of the reviews say. I have a kiss assist as well and if you don't have issues cutting yourself with that one, you won't with the baladeo. Definitely a light duty knife though due to how thin it is

Quality tools cost a bit more. It will last longer, and give you better service.

Spyderco makes several good EDC choices IMHO. Look at a Tenacious or a Delica to start.

SOG also makes quality knives. I'm partial to the Flash II Tanto, but it comes in several blade styles.

Either way, make sure you get a good sharpening system and learn to keep your knife sharp.

That's one of the things I looked at, but I'd prefer something a bit smaller, like the regular alox version. I would really like the bantam (alox, plastic), but it's also bigger/longer than I'd like. I might get the plastic one and see if I could somehow put on a custom handle, or even try to put on the handle from this knife, they look like they're about the same size

Kershaw Half-ton is a fun little pint size to have in the collection, but I wouldn't EDC it. And its dirt cheap.

As for EDC worthy, love me some dragonfly. Also hear lots of good things about the Cold Steel Mini Tuff Lite

Not sure. It's a sailing tool I got a few years back at a marine yard sale. Great knife, has held up to an amazing amount of wear. The marlin spike gets used almost every day for random stuff, and the shackle key is a great bottle opener.

I'm a fan of the Executive, which is very slim and has about a 2" main blade. It comes in black, too. If you want a bit more knife and don't mind losing the toothpick/tweezers and scissors, the Cadet is popular for good reason. Among the keychain size knives, my favorite is the Rambler, for packing all the most important (to me, anyway) tools into a very small package.

I use it almost every day. It's a little heavy, but I've gotten used to it. The Swiss army knife you linked to is great too. I just like the can opener and cork screw. There's a needle in there too which come in handy more than you would think.

A little late to this thread, but I prefer the Victorinox Swiss Army Climber II Pocket Knife over the regular Classic SD version. As an engineer, there's a few more tools out there to help me out, but it's not as bulky as some other ones.

I think it's just as important to balance function than to look stylish and save pocket space, especially with multi-purpose knives.

The Victorinox Swisstool Spirit has the tools you're looking for and has a serrated knife instead of a straight edge blade, so that might better compliment your regular knife. If I recall correctly, the pliers are shaped a little more bluntly than leatherman pliers and they have a more ergonomic handle. Might be better suited for your purposes.

If it helps, here were my requirements when selecting one, in no order:

• Folding, for convenience;
  
• Secure lock for the blade;
  
• Easy one-handed opening. None of those little fingernail slot things;
  
• Blade approximately 3" long. Much less and it isn't useful; much more and it's considered a weapon in some places;
  
• Blade part straight and part serrated, for versatility;
  
• Marlinspike;
  
• Good value / relatively inexpensive. I can't spend my hard-earned money on a mother-of-pearl inlay or whatever, though spending extra for quality construction, good steel, etc. is worth it;
  
• Rugged construction, as I need to be able to trust my core gear without question;
  
• Lanyard loop placed where I can open either the blade or the spike and use them naturally without interference from the lanyard;
  
  Based on this, I selected the the Myerchin P300. I've used it for about four years now, sailing 100 to 130 days per year. This thing is rugged and well built. The pliers seemed like a gimmick at first but I have used them so many times, usually when I don't expect to need them (otherwise I would be carrying the right pliers for the job), and they're just the right size for a lot of tasks.
  
  The Boye is my second choice, but at over four times the price I think I would be kicking myself if I lost it or saw it washed overboard.
  
  My third choice is the Camillus rigging knife. The construction just doesn't feel as rugged to me as the Myerchin, though I haven't really given it a fair shake.

The Farmer or the Pioneer are also good choices. I have the Farmer and it's like the Camper II minus the corkscrew and small blade. It's also got the aluminum side plates which are much better for grip and durability IMO. The Pioneer is a great size for EDC but for camping I think the added saw blade on the Farmer is worth it.

I carry a Victorinox Cadet. I had one as a kid, and though itried a number of different knives when I got older, I found that the Cadet offered the best combination of utility and easy of carry, especially when paired with a suspension clip to hang down the inside of the pocket.

If you need more of a multi-tool, the Leatherman Skeletool is awesome.

If you're just looking for a blade, the Kershaw Cryo is a really solid knife for the price (currently around $23). Because it's all metal, it has some weight to it, but I really like it and it's currently in my EDC.

If you want multifunction but not a large multitool, the Victorinox Swiss Army Cadet is stylish, lightweight, and very functional.

I own all of these knives but the kershaw and I have been eyeballing that one.

To follow up a bit, the knife itself is essentially a Kershaw Lifter/1302. It's hefty, and sturdy with a normal tanto blade instead of the curved one on the lifter. Same framelock design, except there is a lanyard/cord opening at the bottom of the handle. The assist is a beast on this thing, and locks into place hard. I'm impressed for $11. The little flashlight is also bright as hell, and the multi-tool has a line/web cutter, screwdriver w/ jimping for grip, bottle opener, and what looks like a second attempt at a bottle opener (but with sharpening could easily double as a fish hook). My only gripe is the clip isn't reversible but this thing is so hefty I couldn't really see it as an EDC anyway. But def a good little hiking/bugout bag knife.

What about a Swiss Army Knife? Something with multiple uses will be far more useful for her, and she'll probably take it out a lot more. Perhaps a Hunstman or something similar that has a good range of tools.

Rather than a big scary endura, my girl really liked the different tool options on the Cadet. Just food for thought.

IMHO a saw blade is almost as important as a knife blade.

This is the one I got for the survival kit in my vehicle. It's big and chunky for a pocket though.

This one is more pocket size and a classic that a lot of survival guys like.

The traditional red scales on your typical SAK can crack over time. If you want to get something a little more BIFL, I would go with one of the ALOX models, like this.

I've always been partial to Victorinox. The price is really dependent on what tools you want. Anywhere from a few dollars for the really small ones to $20-30 for a mid-size (that would have most/all of the tools I listed earlier) to $45 for a Swiss Champ Plus. Of course, there's this as well, but my pockets aren't that big.

Hear hear. My brain seems to have only a three item limit of things it can consistently keep track of, and those slots are occupied by my wallet, my phone, and my keys. Every time I've tried to add a knife to the mix, it's lost or seized by the TSA within a couple of months. I currently carry this kiridashi and haven't had a problem. It totally fits what I was using my S.O.G. for (opening boxes and cleaning finger nails)

The Skyline definitely sounds like what I'm looking for, I will probably get one soon. Traction probably won't be an issue, I'll likely be carrying something more robust when I'm likely to run into such situations anyways. I just want something with a decent sized blade (> 3") that's light (< 3.5 oz) and thin (< .5") to carry when I don't need something heftier.

Found the silver, black, and red Alox Cadets on Amazon. I don't see any other colors either. I can get a silver Cadet for $20 locally, but I'd rather have black and I can probably find a cheaper price somewhere. My Wenger is heavily worn but still holding up, so I'm not really in a rush to get another SAK.

What about a marlin spike, like this? The marlin spike is the spike on the far right. It's normally used for digging at knots in rope that are too stuck. It's pointy enough to be an interesting sensation, without being so pointy that it'll break the skin (unless you really go crazy).

I've also seen this sort of thing, but never used it.

I never go anywhere without my Victorinox Champion Plus. It's the bulky model that has every tool except pliers.

An ER is one of the few places I don't think people should be carrying a knife, at least not one that's accessible. Still, a simple Swiss Army Knife dropped in your pocket isn't going to get grabbed by a psych patient and it's very handy.

Unless something has changed recently, you should be able to carry a cadet in the UK. And in most places outside of airlines.

By initial look, that might be the Huntsman Ii made with Nylon scales instead of the usual shiny stuff. Is it missing the hole under the corkscrew where a pin would usually go?


As for toothpick and tweezers you can find them on Amazon or Victorinox sells them on their site.

The two I can remember for certain that have cut me in this way were a Spyderco Howard Veile (original, not the re-release - not my photo), and a Benchmade AFCK (original liner lock, not the recent Axis lock re-release).

I no longer have the AFCK, but have held onto the Veile for a dress knife. I rarely dress up.
