After a couple of PMs with OP to make sure she meant /r/fringefashion's version of [Spaceship Corporate](
https://www.reddit.com/r/fringefashion/comments/3okpdv/spaceship_corporate_fashion_inspiration_album_and/) and find out what her budget was, I think I managed to identify a few things that will work for a Spaceship Student look.

Like /u/babyguitars said, there's a lot of stuff available now that fits the minimalism/architectural trends, you just have to pare it down in color, texture, and silhouette and add a few unique pieces to make it look more futuristic.

  • First, you'll want to limit your color palette. Blacks, whites, and grays for sure. I personally limit myself to one metallic - silver is traditionally the most futuristic, but any metallic can work.

  • As for actual color, jewel tones are the most Star Trek (like /u/eclectic_literature mentioned!), while pastels will give it a little bit more of a retro vibe. Bright colors and neons are my personal favorite, they add a bit of playfulness IMO.

  • I personally think Spaceship Corporate (casual or regular) is easiest to pull off with a cool-toned palette, but warm colors would work as well. You just have to be consistent in matching them.

  • You will, however, need to pare down the use of 'colorful neutrals'. It took me a long while to figure out my blue jeans and brown boots looked FINE, but didn't look FINISHED. It was just clothes, not an outfit. For minimalist and futuristic styles, you really have to commit to a monochrome base palette. I only have one pair of blue jeans in my dresser now. (And they are VERY dark blue.)

  • Shapes will have to be pared down as well. You'll want something streamlined, so skinny and/or straight leg jeans and pants, ideally with a higher rise. You won't need too many skirts for college, but I'd grab one pencil skirt at some point for dressier events. (Bonus points for a matching blazer!)

  • As for tops, regular t-shirts (crew or v-neck) can work, but these linen t-shirts are a example of a good shape that'll set your wardrobe just a little bit apart from most students'.

  • And then a shape like this boatneck tee would be good for a class presentation or something.

  • You'll definitely want to pick up some kind of asymmetric sweatshirt or jacket in black or white. Colorblocking and/or space dye would work too. (example one, example two)

  • As for accessories, minimal and streamlined are your keywords here. Collars and cuffs are my personal preference, but anything minimal or geometric will work as well. I also really love this shop for rings -- I wear them both stacked and as individual rings on each finger.

  • As for shoes, ideally you'll want a metallic color and a shape without laces. I've been wearing Vans since high school, and have picked them up in gunmetal, holographic leather, and black patent with rainbow sparkles over the last couple of years. Silver flats would be perfect -- a round toe reads more casual, while a pointed toe feels a little dressier. (And then there's a penny loafer if you want to add a little more prep. I wouldn't but that's just me.)

But honestly, the real trick is to find a unique piece or two (or eighty-six, but who's counting?) to set yourself apart from the general minimalist trend and make it look a bit more intentional and futuristic. This items will usually be metallic and/or holographic. I found a couple of things I think might work for you. (And maybe me.)

  • holographic duffel

  • holographic stripe shirt

  • men's silver metallic t-shirt

  • madpax block backpack in gray

  • jansport galaxy backpack

  • silver tote

  • holographic shoes

Speaking as an owner of one of Everlane's Modern Snap backpacks, I can say that it definitely never feels like it's ever too bulky, and though I may not be 5 feet tall, I don't think that would be an issue regardless. On the contrary, it's one of the least bulky and most stylish backpacks I've ever dealt with.

If you ever have an issue with your backpack, Everlane is quick to take care of it. I know this might not exactly convince you about the bifl quality of the backpack, but when I first got my backpack, there was a flaw in the stitching that caused one of the snaps to partially come off. However, emailed Everlane and they promptly gave me a label to send the backpack back and sent me a new one. They definitely stand behind their product. I can't quite put my finger on it, but just by feeling and looking at it, the backpack just seems to be undoubtedly high-quality.

A friend of mine, who was the one that referred me to the backpack, has owned his (the original snap backpack) for I believe like three years and it has nothing wrong with it whatsoever save for the faded colors which are inevitable when you've abused it every day like he has.

So I would definitely recommend this backpack and can see myself using it for years. And if you're still hesitant about the size, they also have a Mini Modern Zip Backpack which claims to be able to fit a 13" Macbook. I don't have experience with that however, and like I said, the Modern Snap has never felt bulky, but exactly the opposite. Hope I've helped! Feel free to use this referral link if you'd like! :)

Edit: Also, I've heard the Fjallraven Kanken recommended a lot. I've seen somebody with it and it looks fairly small but I can't tell you how it would hold up. Like the look of the Modern Snap better personally too.

Honestly, if you want a backpack to last and want a certain look/design, I suggest investing a little bit so that you won't run into the problem of anything ripping and getting damaged so easily in the future.

I had a Jansport Baughman Backpack a few years ago and it wasn't stiff but it just didn't hold the weight nicely when I used it around campus.

I then switched to the Northface Recon which really helped carry around a lot of stuff that a typical student uses like a water bottle (I had a Hydroflask), laptop, chargers, notebooks, lab coat, etc. Even though it can seem stiff at first, it just needs to be broken down a bit and it distributes the weight evenly when worn all day. I liked how much stuff I can fit into it and how durable it is. I bought mine for about $80 but I've seen them go for $60 at other places. It just depends on where you find it.

Upon entering my last year of college, I wanted to gift myself another backpack since I wanted something a little smaller but still hold a lot of things. I got the Herschel Nova Backpack and although it may look small, it holds a ton of stuff since it has a structured but flexible shape. I also really enjoyed the color of it and it doesn't feel like I'm carrying a huge load on my back.

I felt that each backpack has a different use which I find helpful. I also was deciding between a Fjallraven Kanen backpack since they also hold a lot of stuff and they last a long time too. There's also an Amazon Basics Backpack which seems to be at a fairly low price. This Jansport Hatchet Backpack also seems to have a nice structure and doesn't seem bulky.

If you go to outlet stores you can most likely find some pretty decently priced backpacks that are good quality as well. I know Colombia may be expensive online but at an outlet store there are some good deals there.

I hope this somewhat helps. Good luck in your search!

As a woman who normally carries a purse, I don't do it on big trips. For flights I put everything in my carry on (which is a backpack), with super important stuff - money & passport - in a belt pouch. Once I get where I am going, I unfold my travel daypack and keep the extra things in it - medicine, sunglasses, rainjacket, etc. - with some room left for souvenirs.

not crazy about this one, but haven't found a better one.

Mostly it's about efficient carrying. I can't carry a backpack and a purse without feeling like a pack mule. I used to do this, but I'm done with it. I like ONE bag.

Edit: want to add to this... I also bring one pair of slip-on shoes and one pair of good walking shoes. The slip-ons are what I wear while flying (good for getting through security where you have to take your shoes off and good for easily taking off your shoes on a long flight). They are also nice for when I want to dress up a little (I don't bring a lot of super dressy stuff, but I mean like casual rather than hiking). But then they are not comfy enough for long distance walking, so I bring my running shoes for that.

u/one-lost-boi · 6 pointsr/AFROTC

Hahaha but it’s a requirement if you have a backpack like that! +10 POC greeting skills of he also has a condor hat with space for a flag patch.

In all seriousness though unless you’re dead set on that backpack and it’s comfortable to you I’d go to a black civilian type. I’ve been through that awkward phase where I first joined ROTC and had a super moto backpack. Took me a whole year to realize that a lot of those backpacks are too much for regular school use. Been rocking a Northface backpack because it’s way more comfortable. Highly recommend a brand like that since it’s just more comfortable.

Doesn’t mean there’s no use for them in ROTC because I’ve used something like this for AEF LLABs. However, I would recommend you prioritize what you’ll use for school first. All the molle and velcro in the world won’t help when it’s just a big awkward bag. To each his own though.

It depends on how much you want to pay for durability and certain features really. I'm happy that I paid a quite a lot extra to get a Tom Bihn Western Flyer, but I'm also using it as a daily briefcase for work and expect to use it for another 10 years.

If you want light pack + 35L space + urban-ish look, maybe look at the Arcido Faroe (880g), or the Lowe Alpine AT Lightflite Carry-on 40 (760g), or the Cabinzero 36L (700g).

There are a few more on this onebag wiki with weight:
http://onebag.wikia.com/wiki/Bags

In the end though, it's up to you to balance these 6 aspects:

  1. Volume
  2. Features
  3. Durability
  4. Weight
  5. Price
  6. Looks

I happily paid a bit more and took a bit more weight (1.2kg) for more durability, looks and features. If you can bring yourself down to 25L though, then the Synapse 25 by Tom Bihn is practically perfect for you in terms of features/durability/weight. Price is 200 USD i believe, which is cheap for a bag that will last 20 years easy.

If you're on a bit of budget or need some more space, the Arcido Faroe looks good at 35L, but you'll have to read some reviews on it since I've only seen pictures. On further budget is the Solo Max Everyday Hybrid which I would totally buy if I was in the US (UK here). So good and cheap at 50 USD with 35L volume. https://www.amazon.com/Solo-Everyday-Max-Hybrid-Backpack/dp/B01AC3ZXJW

I'm not a fan of osprey as (like you) I think they look more like hiking packs with a turtley back instead of looking slim and urban. But that's personal opinion. They have a lot of reviews on their comfort and durability.

I want to replace my colorful High Sierra backpack with something slightly more "adult."

I am considering a plain black JanSport like this that I would customize by adding a bow and monogram, kind of like this.

The look I am going for is casual (hence the backpack), classic (hence the classic Jansport silhouette), and girly (details like bow and monogram) without compromising functionality.

What do you think, people of FFA? I would love some ideas on where to get it monogrammed, where to find the right kind of bow/how to attach, and whether black is an appropriate choice or if I should go with a "neutral" print like polka dots or something. Thank you in advance!

Edit: another idea is this which may be a better choice for being "adult" because it's canvas.

Another edit: here is what I mean by a "neutral" print

Last (?) edit: I'm not sure I know what I want with this whole backpack thing after all. I love the ease and practicality of having a backpack rather than another type of bag, and since I am in academia, I can totally get away with backpack use, possibly forever. But I just haven't thought much about personal style since like, high school/college, and am kind of unclear on what sort of image I want to project. I guess I just gravitate toward practical things but also want them to be attractive in some way, and don't want to just randomly accumulate possessions based on convenience anymore- I would like to be more mindful about purchasing items in the future that contribute toward some type of cohesive image. Help is very, very welcome from literally any one of you who wants to assist me with getting a handle on the basics. I have already read almost all of the sidebar resources and absorbed lots of new info that way, but I think I might need more help than I can get from reading stuff.

Here's a post I wrote when someone asked what shirts were officially licensed. Not exactly your question but it's a good roundup:

-
That's an good question, it seems to vary. Here are some sites that I've found and their visible licensing situations:

-

  • Merchoid - Their About Us page says they only sell licensed products, and there's an officially licensed stamp on each product page. They even have several news articles about their officially licensed Titanfall 2 line.

    -
  • Yellow Bulldog says they have Titanfall 2's entire swag lineup of officially licensed gear, including some clothing. (and are advertised around the web like this)

    -
  • SportsDirect's T-Shirt is labeled official, yet no guarantees are offered on the product page or in general by the website.

    -
  • Sites like Redbubble and Teepublic are obviously completely unlicensed; sites like this are simply storefronts for independent "artists" to sell their artworks. That can be anything from original artwork or just ripped/traced game assets. (it also explicitly says on these sites that these are "titanfall inspired" products created by fans)

    -
  • Hot Topic's line makes no licensing claims at all and their About Us page says they sell both licensed and un-licensed merchandise.

    -
  • There are some completely individual products that are said to be officially licensed as well, like this backpack.

    -
tl;dr - If it says officially licensed right on the page, it seems to be. If it doesn't, it is not. I haven't found any dishonest places.

My nursing school gave the entire cohort messenger bags with little laptop sleeves. However, I work across campus from the medical building, so I found having all the weight on one of my arms really made my shoulders hurt! I had to switch back to a backpack, and here are some of my favorites:

1.) [Jansport Wanderer] (https://www.amazon.com/JanSport-Unisex-Wanderer-Viking-Backpack/dp/B01AR9EVWQ/ref=sr_1_14?ie=UTF8&qid=1500665100&sr=8-14&keywords=jansport+laptop+water) - This one has a laptop sleeve, a little water bottle sleeve and tons of pockets! Carries my stationary, laptop, hydroflask, gym clothes, and lunch comfortably. Really sturdy too and Jansports come with lifetime warranties!

2.) [Hershel Retreat] (https://herschel.com/shop/backpacks/retreat-backpack?v=10066-00001-OS) I don't know if it's just me, but I'm horrible at remembering to zip up my backpack. I liked this one because it was roomy and the drawstrings/magnetic buttons made me feel like my stuff was more secure.

3.) [Patagonia Paxat] (http://www.patagonia.com/product/paxat-backpack-32-liters/48046.html?dwvar_48046_color=FGE&cgid=luggage-backpacks#tile-5=&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_content=text+ad&utm_campaign=Brand+Plus&utm_term=patagonia+backpacks&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIm4Xjuo6b1QIVCbXACh2ODwHwEAAYASAAEgI76PD_BwE&start=1&sz=24) - I can't find the exact patagonia backpack I have, but I like these ones because I started using my backpacks for everything - travel, hiking, etc. My parents live in a different city from where I go to college in. It holds all my clothes and it makes it easy to take out my laptop for TSA. This one isn't made out of canvas like the others so it's easy to clean off.

4.) [Kanken] (http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/fjallraven-kanken-water-resistant-backpack/3833666?cm_mmc=google-_-productads-_-9386040593_-_-91294328&rkg_id=h-64c5a337a5e347428e5e63f0acbfa836_t-1500665645&adpos=1o4&creative=57224577833&device=c&network=g&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIjbvLko-b1QIVkGV-Ch3efAfNEAQYBCABEgIMCfD_BwE) - This one is on the smaller side, but if you only have a class a day or clinicals to go to, my friends say this one is the way to go because it's so lightweight and durable.

I hope this helps!

u/Dingens25 · 2 pointsr/travel

You already got very good recommendations for carry-on sized backpacks, which is probably the perfect size for a backpacking trip in moderate climate.

If camping and/or multi-day trekking is anywhere on your bucket list, you might want to go a slight bit larger (have to fit a tent, sleeping bag and so on) and, most importantly, more comfortable. A proper sturdy hip belt and a stable frame is the only way to carry a heavy backpack for more than a few hours. On the other hand you'll have to check it on every flight and it's heavier, so unless you need the extra room and trekking features it's an overkill. This is the one I got a few years back, and it has accompanied me on quite a few trips all over the world:

https://www.amazon.com/Deuter-Aircontact-Backpacking-Pack-Midnight/dp/B07KQGDNX7/

It's very adjustable for your back and lets you easily carry a rather heavy load, it has a lot of easily accessible storage compartments (once you get used to the front opening of the main compartment on a backpack, you never want to go back to a top-loading-only one), it's perfect for multi-day trekking and camping, and it's quite robust and sturdy. If I travel with this one, I tend to bring an additional small light and foldable daypack.

Are you looking for a Laptop bag or a backpack style bag?

I'm not super well versed on laptop bags in general (or on what's not available in the UK) but since I've been on a bit of a bag kick, lets see if I can help!

5.11 Rush Delivery

I don't know anything about most of these brands, but I did find this brief synapsis of best laptop bags of 2014

The Northface Surge II probably isn't too bad of an option if you're looking for a backpack style and despite the £155 price tag they listed, they can be found a good bit cheaper

Timbuk 2 Q was also mentioned on a forum where the owner had one for 3 years. Check the Amazon review for some more info on it (some say it's too small for their needs and others doubt it's durability due to thin material but ymmv).

Herschel Backpacks also seem to be a thing these days The quality seems to be decent according to reddit and amazon. Looks an aweful lot like an old Jansport though. Not sure how you might feel about that.

Not sure about the availability of this one in the UK (looks like a german site) Jack-wolfskin Metro Link 24

I hope that's a good starting point for ya. :D

u/8bitesq · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

The most useful thing you can get when it comes to travel is a collapsable, stuff sack travel backpack. I had one when I was backpacking in Europe a couple summers ago and it was the greatest. I could dump my travel sack off at the hostels and just put a few things that I needed to carry around in the backpack. It was extremely helpful. I think I got mine at Walmart, actually, for $5 but this one on Amazon looks like it's way better quality.

I also recommend adding some Ritter chocolate if you haven't had it. It's German and it's the best. It's seriously the only chocolate I eat. it's fantastic. And it comes in a ton of different types.

u/offie · 2 pointsr/TheGirlSurvivalGuide

How long will you be wearing it a day? How heavy will it be? How large do you need it to be?

Before choosing something think about what you want from a pack. Do you want super comfy straps, a suspension system that makes sure you don't get sweaty? Something that will fold up into a little ball you back put in a pocket? Will you be carrying all your stuff or just day things? Would a fanny pack work just as well? How much do you want to spend?do you want it to be water proof? Side pockets? Organizational pockets? Mesh to dry out things on the outside?

Sounds like you'd want a 15L or smaller pack, lots of cute 10L packs out there. I'd search by size. I have a 16L Osprey pack that has plenty of room left when I take it with me for just casual day activities.

I can give more specific recommendations if you'd like but make sure it's something that you think about all these things before buying something, especially if you're planning on spending a decent amount on it

I don't have this one but heard good things: geckobrands Waterproof Lightweight Backpack 4 Colors Available, Grey/Bright Orange https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01JMVTROC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_5amPzbNP5HESK

Also this one that folds up really well: Quechua ARPENAZ 10 FOLDABLE (Blue) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01IPA4PMA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_ncmPzbQPDFRDG

And you can never go wrong with Osprey (lifetime warranty): Osprey Packs Daylite Plus Backpack, Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B019TQPL4A/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_edmPzb7DG483S

Or this one: Osprey Ultralight Stuff Pack, Electric Lime https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00RZV7YCE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_CdmPzbHCSBVAK

Edit: Also if you've got big boobs make sure it's an S strap, so much more comfy

Ninja edit: I see all the Europeans with this bag, cheap and this company seems to have high quality hiking stuff so this little things is probably made well and cheap at $7: Quechua Kids Adults X-Sports Decathlon 10L Outdoor Day Backpack Small - Purple https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00YUNY6ZI/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_xtvPzb2CY3ENT

Oh hey, I just found your stuff today on SoundCloud. Excellent stuff, glad to see you're popping off man! On the topic of carrying gear, I perform with a Novation Twitch and turntables. I have a NAMBA brand backpack that works really really well for me, fits everything except the 1200s lol. But like the guy up there said, something with wheels is a great idea. UDG makes an awesome bag on wheels that doubles as a backpack, I believe. Here's some links...

Namba Big Studio backpack. Read the reviews.

UDG bag

As a sidenote, I ALWAYS carry my equipment on, in my backpack. They don't call them baggage handlers, they're called "throwers," and for a damn good reason. Hope this helps :)

u/GladioliRose · 2 pointsr/TheSilphRoad

I'm a daily messenger bag carrier but I used to have several backpacks. There are few i am considering to purchase as well. I'll list them below.

If you want something that will last you for the rest of your life, go tactical. These are great for bug-out bags as well. Some of them will be compiable with Hiker cosplay. Amazon

If tactical isn't your thing and you prefer something urban. Need a cool looking pack that lasts for a long time too? I got you; I have few suggestions. Herschel Supply , Arctic Fox , ASERF , Rhine , Blue Lounge , CaseLogic , and Convey.

If you want to go down on the messenger bag route like I did, then here I go ~! Timbuk , Tumi , MNMUR. I personally am a huge fan of Timbuk's messenger bags.

u/sweaty_clitoris · 0 pointsr/BuyItForLife

I have used this bag through middle school to college. It is the perfect size for holding my Macbook, notebooks, textbooks, etc. When you need it to be compact, draw in the side straps and you have a small portable backpack. However, if you release the side straps, the bag is perfect for a weekend trip, camping, airplanes, hiking etc. I have even used it for snowboarding. Here is PX link. If you know anyone military you can get it through them without tax. But I'm pretty sure you said your in Australia so I'll also put the Amazon link.

https://www.shopmyexchange.com/mobile/sandpiper-of-california-3-day-pass-bag/1470616

Or Amazon:

http://www.amazon.com/Sandpiper-California-Three-Pass-Backpack/dp/B007VMOU92

If you wanted something bigger with aluminum back support, I also have the bug out size. If you know you will be carrying heavy weight for long periods of time, this bag is the most comfortable and supportive. It also counts as a carry on in airports, so that is a plus.

> if you always take pictures like these, could we see some older pictures?

Would love to share, but I don't think I have them any more. I did take a similar picture before backpacking in Europe, driving the American Southwest, and traveling through Israel, but I'd just text them to my Mom. They looked pretty much the same though, I have my packing list pretty set.

> also, you reall wont need anything warmer? not one long sleeve shirt ir even a windbraker?

I wore a hoodie on the plane. Still it was summer in Bangkok and Tokyo, so I was pretty good without a sweater, lol. The only time I was cold was at the summit of Mt. Fuji http://imgur.com/a/T9uvG, though I bought some long underwear on the ground that really helped.

> what's your bag?

This. I was not satisfied with it, it hung really weird on my shoulders, 4/10 would not use again.

> what do you read on your kindle?

Siddhartha in Japan, The English Patient in Thailand. Loved both. Didn't have all that much time for reading though, I mostly did it on planes.

> no camera?

Used my phone camera. Tons of pictures here.

Anyway, when I was a cable installer I had three bags. My daily bag just a regular backpack, usually something funny. Right now I have a Stormtrooper Backpack I got at a fan expo. It has a console cable, a laptop, and my lunch.

Then I had a hand tools bag - mine had some slight customizations but it was fairly close to this Klein 28-Piece Electrician Tool Kit, which I only brought in if I needed hand tools. The main customization was to add crimping tools and specialty cutting tools for coaxing and CAT6. I used a Husky 10-inch Electrician Bag because it made it easy to organize.

Finally, I had the Milwaukee M18 Cordless 6-Tool Combo Kit if I needed something more heavy duty. There's a ton of extra space so I would store patch cables in the side pouches inside of the power tool bag.

The rest was in my truck which had something like 100-200 tools and a huge array of patch cables, connectors, test kits, etc.

For those who are interested in this bag, it's currently $55 on Amazon right now. Solo Everyday Max Backpack (ACV732-4) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01AC3ZXJW/

I bought one myself and am undecided on keeping it as a first bag or getting an osprey Porter 30. I like the large pocket but would like some built in organization in a secondary pocket for small items like any camera, chargers, etc. There's the 2 side pockets that could maybe fit a water bottle if the bag isn't packed full and a pocket on front that could hold a wallet or phone, my Nexus 6P barely fit.

The shoe compartment on the bottom also takes a ton of room in the main section of the bag. Though I'd guess that's the same for any bag that has that.

For the size of it I also expected more space. There are some interior pockets in the main section but again, with clothes in the main section you won't be able to fit much.

Oh I have a Jansport big student classic daypack! It's the only thing that will fit everything I need. I have a navy one, but I would get this one if I could, because it's my favorite color. I like solid colors and coral, so this would be my top pick. Also, maybe this is the backpack you're going to get?
Thanks for hosting!

Initially, I wanted to get an Aer Fit Pack 2, but I don't really have the cash to spend that much on a backpack at the moment. What attracted me to it was that it looked nice and had compartments that I was looking for; one to place my laptop and notebooks, another to place my clothes, and a third for my shoes.

After spending several hours on Amazon searching for a cheaper alternative, I ended up ordering a Solo Elite Backpack which should (hopefully) arrive some time tomorow. I'll let you know what I think of it once it arrives, but in the meantime, maybe this short video will help you determine if it's something you'd want to consider.

**

Other alternatives I was considering**

|Backpack|Price|Reason I didn't go for it|
|:---:|:---:|:---|
|Crosslandy College Backpack|$35.99|Didn't like how it looked. No exterior pocket for water bottle.|
|Solo Everyday Max Hybrid|$46.68|Yellow straps are ugly.|
|Targus Work & Play|$59.81|Yellow accents. Would have gone with this instead otherwise.|
|Targus Work & Play (Black & Gray)|$79.99|Costs more than the one with the yellow accents. At this price, I like the look of the Solo Elite more.|
|Solo Elite (Burgundy)|$60.00 (plus tax and shipping)|Prefer black and wanted to get it sooner rather than later.|

Gonna piggyback on your comment to plug another Osprey. I'm really happy with my [Osprey Nebula] (https://www.amazon.com/Osprey-845136043077-P-Packs-Cyber-Daypack/dp/B01I2P4RJO/ref=redir_mobile_desktop?_encoding=UTF8&dpID=81BM%2BLxcbbL&dpPl=1&refRID=VJSN81GV80FMCPK8HRDC&ref_=pd_aw_sim_468_3) which I got this spring after my north face started to fall apart. I often carry at least two to very large hardback A&P books and an old laptop. The organizer pocket is wonderful for all of my notecards, and the stash pocket is a great place to keep snacks.

u/Scandalchris · 1 pointr/travel

Honestly, I used a higschool backpack like this: https://www.amazon.com/Jansport-Big-Student-Backpack-Black/dp/B000E3D2VM/ref=pd_bxgy_468_img_2/144-1159476-3947922?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B000E3D2VM&pd_rd_r=fe3b2925-308e-11e9-9e3f-3bc4e26de95d&pd_rd_w=UUmnn&pd_rd_wg=9ljUB&pf_rd_p=6725dbd6-9917-451d-beba-16af7874e407&pf_rd_r=2RANH3RQR4V95Q9JNRS9&psc=1&refRID=2RANH3RQR4V95Q9JNRS9

for 7 years until i was gifted a higher quality pack. But this did fine for all those years and ALWAYS fit as a carry on.

Just remember not to bring too much, you can do laundry there, and it's cheap. Have fun!

FOLAI Adjustable Waterproof Replacement Shoulder Strap Replacement Shoulder Straps Adjustable Belt for Shoulder Bag Backpack Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078VZXDM5/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_86MiDbNYCQHCC

I would try these straps out especially since they’re only $12 or so. Then just secure them to the backboard. I personally would just use some eyelets to run the strings through. The rest should be pretty easy. Hope this helps

u/[deleted] · 1 pointr/PS4

This backpack will easily fit both. In fact, it's able to expand enough that you could probably fit a few pairs of clothes in there too (but prolly not recommended because when this backpack is stuffed to the brim it might actually end up too big for a carry on).

https://www.amazon.com/Sandpiper-of-California-Bugout-Backpack/dp/B007VMOPRY

This thing was the "private special" in basic training because everyone bought one, haha. I had mine for 6 or 7 years before it gave out (and these were hard years out in the field and overseas).

It's a tad bit tactical looking, and you'll see it's got extra things like a waist strap, chest strap, etc, but all of those can be folded and hidden in the bag (in fact, even the shoulder straps can fold into the bag so you can carry it like a briefcase instead).

u/detectivemonk · 1 pointr/malefashionadvice

While it's not exactly stylish, I use this Jansport backpack at school, and love it. It's got a lifetime warranty, holds a ton of stuff, and is quite comfortable. It doesn't look as square as that picture either, unless you filled the thing with blankets or something, just FYI.

u/upstatedreaming3816 · 3 pointsr/CampingGear

This is what I take out with me:

Kelty Redwing 50

Eureka! Midori 2 (I don't own this, I borrow my father's, I own a larger Eureka! Tetragon)

Kelty Tuck sleeping bag

Therm-a-Rest Trail Lite sleeping pad

Vasque Breeze 2.0 GTX boots (they have put out a new version in the past year or so labeled the 3.0, I believe)

Let me know if you have any questions about any of the gear, or general questions. Happy Camping my friend!

u/Biz_Money · 25 pointsr/cringe

I enjoy Titanfall 2, it'd be weird for me to wear a backpack with the cover of the game on it (think child's backpack) but it's okay if it's a themed backpack that just looks like something from the game, like this one

I have the Kelty Redwing 50 and love it. Pretty affordable for what you get as well and quite durable. Also has a handle so you can use as a duffel if you're so inclined. kelty redwing on amazon

u/AnticitizenPrime · 1 pointr/CampingandHiking

Another one you might want to look at is the Kelty Redwing 50. It might be my next pack. I looked at one at Academy today and really liked it. It's $86 on Amazon.

One feature I love which I wish more packs had is the fact that the zipper runs in a big U-shape which allows you to open the main compartment all the way like a suitcase, and it has sensible storage pockets inside for organization. Many hiking backpacks are just basically big tubes, and you have to dump everything out to get to something at the bottom... and without storage pockets, you have to put things in stuff sacks or something, which means you have to dump those out too just to get to your compass or water filter or whatever.

u/kairiserene · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I found this version of your backpack

Can I get a giftcard if I win? =)

Edit:

I also found this little guy in case you wanted something different!

u/suzie10000 · 1 pointr/malefashionadvice

I second the two straps comment. Get one of these! My campus is small too and there are days when I have to pack so much in it.

But in all seriousness, this is relatively inexpensive and has served me very well. The zippers are high quality. NB: the straps feel odd at first but then fit much better once you wear it a little.

u/misshannah0106 · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Heres one thats similar

Here's a lovely Yoshi

I personally like this one Its kinda the same style as the other one!

u/randominternetdad · 3 pointsr/MMA

I'm not the guy you're asking, but I keep all my shit for work in a backpack. Much easier to sling a strap over my shoulder than to carry a briefcase. It's also nice because it has room for books that I can pop out and go hide with if work is slow. Super functional.

We ordered one of these in gray! Not the cheapest one out there but it's sturdy and cute. My husband and I each have a couple of their coats and they hold up forever and have a lifetime warranty.

Jansport. Seriously. I tried buying cheap backpacks for years, and I finally bit the bullet and bought jansport when my friend told me he'd had his since 7th grade (as we were graduating high school). I'm now starting my first year of grad school, and I've had mine since I started college (so 4 years now), and it still looks new. My friend's backpack is also going strong. No rips, it only looks dirty because of how long he's used it. Best part? Costs $30. If you're worried about a laptop compartment, just buy a laptop sleeve and stick it in there. Oh, and it has a lifetime warranty.

u/bourgeoiszee · 28 pointsr/BuyItForLife

i use an Osprey Cyber Daypack for both work and school. it's incredibly durable and has lots of well thought out pockets. plus it's not too flashy, which i appreciate. link

u/LucidOneironaut · 3 pointsr/rva

They might be spoken for, but I'll keep you in mind if Keep Virginia Cozy doesn't want them. Anyone who wants to build one can do so with the following materials:

Backpack Straps

Picture hangers

While you're at Lowes you can pick up nuts/bolts, or you can use pop rivets (with backing washers to prevent the plastic from tearing) like I did. We got our trash cans at Walmart so we could size them to our shoulders/back.

u/Number_06 · 1 pointr/bugout

Jansport Big Student. 31 liters, does not look at all tactical or hikerly, comes with a lifetime warranty, available in an astonishing variety of colors and patterns. I've been using one as a work bag (taxi driving) for the last four years and it's holding up just fine. I have another that I used for community college that also is fine. My cat puked on the college bag once. I washed it on gentle cycle and let it air dry on a drying rack. It came out looking brand-new.

u/bulbafar · 0 pointsr/BuyItForLife

If you are determined on company, this might be to late, but Fjallravens Kanken is as buy it for life as it gets, and not awfully expensive. I just checked up on the one my father uses on daily basis, which have been going for 15-20 years by now, and the only sign of use is that the colour has faded.

I had a SOC bug out bag flying into ATL and they pulled it from the regular luggage (without any indication, naturally) and put it in the oversized baggage area. So I sat through everyone else's shit getting picked up and the carousel stopped so I had to go hunt down my missing luggage. Their explanation was that because it was camouflage it might have a firearm in it so they pulled it. Fucking retarded on so many levels.
