Reddit mentions: The best costume masks for kids

Well, my initial idea was that you and your fiancée could find some way to make one of those wax hands (the kind that you can make at fairs and festivals by dipping your hand in wax) for each table with some white or off white wax, in this position. Then, nestle a tea light into the top of each one (maybe connect the tea light with some hot wax?), and surround it with some black rose petals and some purple and white calla lilies. You could also place the hands in these.


Another idea would be to get some of these face masks, cut off the little strings, cut each one a slightly bigger mouth hole, and paint them apricot. Then get some light bulbs, some super glue, and carefully glue a tea light to the top of each light bulb. Rim the inner edge of the mouth holes with super glue, then nestle a light bulb into each one. Place them face up on the tables, lit and surrounded by the aforementioned flower petals and some more tea lights! (you could also get these tea lights instead if you want to spend a little more to keep more with the purple theme)


I hope either of these ideas was at all helpful haha. I know they might be a pain in the butt to make, but I tried to keep with the theme.

Here's what I'd do:

1. Make sure all your favorite characters are represented with some large items. I have Mjolnir, a Hulk fist, an Iron Man helmet (I couldn't find the one I have because it's from a Halloween costume, but I've wanted this one for a while and I think it'd be worth it), and a metal Eye of Agamotto (it's out of stock right now, but it's really great), and a plush Spider-Man (can't find on Amazon because it came in Collector Corps). I really need something for Cap.
   
   
2. Get smaller items for other characters. I would go with FunKo. FunKo is hands down my favorite Marvel merch. I have an Ant-Man, a Coulson, a Doctor Strange, and many others. I also get a lot of FunKo's from Collector Corps, which I really recommend if you like FunKo. Every month you get $50 worth of collectibles for $25 plus $5.95 shipping. You get exclusive FunKo figures, a t-shirt, a FunKo variant comic, a patch, a pin, and a random other item (like a coffee mug or something). They come out every two months. Very fun and cheap.
   
   
3. Get a centerpiece. My centerpiece is a set of Dr. Pepper Avengers cans like these that I put on a Collector Corps box from Civil War.
   
   Here's the main part of my collection. I have other stuff around my room (I'm 16).

I would like to add to the smokey eye suggestion - keep the eyes soft and really black and red to look like real smoke. The key is intensity.

Lace mask tutorials/options: simple and classic netting with collar, one eye gothic lace, a metal and plastic mask from Amazon or you could buy an adhesive lace mask from Face Lace. Lisa Eldridge recommends this brand.

Then for lips, make them extra sharp and overdraw them just a little like this tutorial here. I think black-red ombré would especially work well with your costume.

Then I will reply to your question. With the current quality of the prints being done, as well due to the fact that a 3D printer costs multiple 10s of thousands of dollars, you are correct in stating that they are not good for anything beyond prototypes.

But as the technology improves and new methods of printing are created that are not as prone to "disintegrating" it opens the door for creating more quality work. Combine that with low cost, and anyone can suddenly make their own toy line.

No, this won't print rims for your car- unless the technology improves to the point of being able to use metals or metal-like substances. Perhaps with the help of nano-materials?

Or let's say that the technology doesn't improve in terms of quality, but does get cheaper and faster. Why not create super cheap action figures that are designed with the intention of being destroyed? Hell, my 5 year old would love an endless supply of cheapo toy soldiers that he could squash on a whim knowing that he can always print more on just as much of a whim.

Lets move beyond models.

How about custom mounts for your electronics? How many DIY posts do you see on reddit about people making iPhone stands out of paperclips and thumbtacks? Hell, I bet a whole slew of completely original accessories would appear from people simply experimenting.

You know what I would do? I would build my own Haloween costumes. I would print my son the most flimsy ass Starcraft Firebat outfit that I could then sow onto some cheap clothing. None of that picture-on-a-shirt crap. And if I could do it, and for cheap, what would stop other companies from doing the same, and then selling them, also for cheap but with a profit?

Broken phone case? No problem. Download this schematic from Motorola and print your own replacement. Saves Motorola having to pay for the parts and labor. Or if they won't do it, I'm sure someone else would to save others the hassle of going through tech support.

Some guy made a piece of rubber that looks like a game controller and just goes on top of your phone's keyboard for use with emulators. Boy would I love to print my own and not have to give some other guy money for one.

My point is this- RIGHT NOW, yes, its a very niche product with limited uses. But nowhere does it say that it will stay niche, stay expensive, and stay sub-par quality. Nowhere does it say that it will only be good for making models. Just because you can't think of a way to innovate using this technology doesn't mean nobody else can't either.

EDIT- Oh and yes, I have held a prototype model in my hands that a large company that could afford a 3D printer had made.

So im trying to find some lights to put on a baseball bat to make it match a mask im getting for halloween, but most light strips i find have a battery thing thats way too big(or maybe im crazy) to fit onto a handle of a bat, could someone recommend me some lights preferably ones that match the mask

I'm a huge fan of all the IronMan movies, but $399 for a crappy low-res projector? Put it to use (aimed at a wall) and you're stuck looking at the back of its head -- including Celluon logo and a bunch of switches I've never seen on the "real" IronMan.

With MVIS tech, they'll be able to take something like this...

Because Highwaymen robbing people on the roads have never thought to hide their faces?

That said, I think you are talking about the current batch of driverless cars, which are basically multi-million dollar rolling testbeds.

I'm talking about 40, 50 years from now when there will be widespread adoption of the vehicles by average people just wanting to be able to kick back and play some X-Box7 on their way to work.

I'm dubious those vehicles will have surround record video, but even if they do, masks for criminals to use are cheap, as are stolen traffic cones to suddenly toss out in front of an autodrive car to make it stop.
