Alright, first...Happy Early Birthday!!!

Now on to face things.

Skincare

First of all you should check out r/skincareaddiction. Even if you don't want to join the community the FAQ is great.

What I do for my normal/oily skin is every morning and every night I wash with CeraVe Foaming Face Wash which is recommended for oilier skin. So you might want to check that out.

Every 3 days or so I exfoliate with Epicuren which is just from my mom's shop but it's a nice deep scrubs without being too abrasive. You don't want abrasive like with say St. Ive Apricot scrub because you're actually tearing your skin and that's just not very nice. You want to gently exfoliate.

Once a week I use a LUSH face mask. My favorite is Love Lettuce because it's refreshing and exfoliating. Second favorite is definitely Cupcake. I feel so clean and bright after it.

Wipe off your makeup before you go to bed. It's bad for your skin and bad for your sheets. Whatever you do to take it off, just get it off. I use vaseline. It's cheap and easy on my sensitive skin.

Clean your brushes. Clean them. Seriously. What I do is after every makeup application I get a tissue and something with and edge like the edge of my dresser and I wipe the brush over the tissue over the edge to get all the excess makeup out. Then every 2 weeks I do a deep clean. Get a bar of some kind (towel rack, clothes hanger) and rubber bands. Get some warm, running water, and either some baby shampoo or some brush cleaner (though honestly I just use shampoo) and wet your brushes, bristles pointing downwards always. You don't want to get water trapped inside the little metal/plastic attaching ring thingy. Add a dot of shampoo to your hand and swish that brush around. It'll be gross. Good. You'll always remember to do it now that you know how gross your brushes get. Rinse bristles down. Dry bristles down by wrapping the rubber band around the handle and attaching to your rod/hanger.

Makeup

This is what I cannot live without

  1. Naked Basics. This is the best $27 I have ever spent in my life. I use it every single friggin day. All of the colors are perfect neutral mattes from lightest light to darkest dark. I even use one of the colors to fill my eyebrows. It's perfect.

  2. Wet n Wild Liquid Liner. I've become a liquid liner addict. It really helps make it look like I have eyelashes. The brush is very firm and very thin so I always end up with a line where I want it.

  3. Urban Decay 24/7 glide on liner in Smoke. I have very light eye lashes. So I tight line.. Trust me. You want to tight line.

  4. Clump Crusher I love this mascara. It really is non-clumping and while it doesn't give me the longest lashes in the world it makes them look fuller because there's no clumps.

  5. Smashbox BB Cream. This is just the BB cream I use. It does what all the BB creams do but I happen to match the 'Fair' color very well.

  6. Too Faced Milk Chocolate Soleil Bronzer. This shit smells like chocolate. I'm not even joking. I'm new to bronzer, but it's perfect for my skin tone.

  7. Sephora Blush. I'm still learning about blushes but I like that this one is matte. I'm not a sparkle face girl.

  8. Lipstick. I have too many to choose. See this comment I did where I swatch and rated every lipstick I have.

  9. E.L.F eye shadow primer You need primer. No. You need it.

    Makeup For You

So if you're just starting out again you don't want to go spending a stupid amount of money before you figure out what you like. So here are my suggestions for you specifically.

  10. Eyeshadow. Now if you can afford it, I highly recommend Urban Decay Naked Basics. But that's $27. So in lieu of that I suggest you get some Wet n Wild Eyeshadows. Maybe this one or this one.

  11. Eye shadow primer. Go to target and find the ELF section and get primer. It's a dollar and it will make your eye shadow amazing. No reapplying no smudging no creasing. Just perfect perfect eyes. It comes in other colors too, you may want to get a shade darker if you want to match your skin tone.

  12. Eyeliner. I would say get a pencil in either black or dark brown. I don't know if liquid liner is right for your eye shape but if you want to give it a go then you do whatever you want; it's your face.

  13. Eyelashes. Get a lash curler. Two to three curls and you should be good. I'd say black mascara for you.

  14. Eyebrows. I'm not an eyebrow expert but you're probably going to want to shape and fill in your eye brows (unless you love them just the way they are). For shape I'd go to a professional first before you wax at home or go plucking away. Then for filling in you can just use an eyebrow kit. Although I've heard complaint that dark eyebrows are the hardest to find a matching color for :(

  15. BB Cream. I hear Etude house kicks butt and it won't break your bank.

  16. Concealer. I love Maybelline 24 Hour Superstay Concealer it's awesome. You want to blend that stuff too, don't just dot it on.

  17. Blush. I think maybe a peachy blush but pictures don't always show stuff right for skin tone so maybe you need pink. I can't really tell.

  18. Bronzer. You've got great cheek bones. I would skip this for now. Unless you're super gungho in which case: I'd check out The Balm.

  19. Lipstick. Cheap and amazing lipstick is NYX and I think a nice natural shade would look great on you. But seriously, if you live near an ulta, nyx is like $3.99-$5.99 for lipstick. It's amazing. Or everyone goes gaga for these Etude House Bunny Glosses.

Anyway, I think you look really great and that's the best start is being confident and having a natural beauty. Also I love your hair. But if you have any questions just let me know :)

From talking to you in chat I think you would benefit a bit from a run-through of everything (products, how they're used, informative videos), so I'll just do that:

MAKEUP FACE STUFF

  • YOUR FACE: So your face has a color (skin tone) and then it has an undertone. It's a little bit easier to determine your skin tone than it is your undertone, but I go by the "veins" method. If you look at your wrist, if your veins are greenish then you're warm and if you look at your wrist and see that your veins are more bluish then you are cool. It's best to look at your wrist in natural light. This is color theory, and it helps determines what colors conventionally look best. There's an excellent video color theory here and I highly recommend you give it a look.
  • MOISTURIZER: You'll want to use moisturizer because if your skin gets super dry then it flakes off and when you put any makeup on it accentuates the flakes and it just looks terrible. I really like CeraVe Cream because it isn't oily but it's super moisturizing (this is coming from someone with dehydrated eczema skin). You can use moisturizer only at night or in the morning as the first step in your makeup routine (or use it whenever, go crazy).
  • FACE PRIMER: Some sort of cream/lotion dealio that is most likely loaded with tons of silicones to make your face smooth. Primer essentially fills in all the little crags and pores and whatever so everything that you put on after it goes on smoothly. You should use it. I'm not fancy so I just use this ELF Studio Primer. Primer also comes in tone-correcting colors... say you're looking a little red, green can cancel that out so you could get a green-tinted primer. Or if it's the middle of winter and you have no tan whatsoever and you're feeling a little yellow, you could try a purple tinted primer. Basically if you remember the color wheel whatever color is opposite will cancel the other out. I haven't used any of those tone-correcting primers, but NYX has a couple that you could try out (but from your bare faced photo, it doesn't look like you need it, but just so ya know!).
  • FOUNDATION: Stuff you put all over your face to even your skin tone, it can come in powder and liquid forms. Not all of them are made equal and they can have different amounts of coverage including sheer (for those blessed with near perfect skin), light, medium, and full coverage (to cover every little blemish!). They can also come in different finishes including matte (completely flat, no shine) and dewy (a little bit of shine so you look glowy).
  • BB CREAM: Okay, so I cheat... I don't use foundation because there are too many options and it's confusing. I use a BB cream because they're sheer and they oxidize to match your skin tone and the Asian ones are nicely priced and match my skin 'cause Asian and they have nice dewy finishes and good SPF ratings. I use Skin79 Hot Pink.
  • FINISHING/SETTING POWDER: So if you're oily or if it's hot out and you're going to sweat a ton you can "set" your makeup with a powder so it absorbs the oil or whatever you produce. I don't have one to recommend because I don't go outside (I'm a redditor, what do you expect?) and I have dehydrated skin, but I thought I'd mention it. Anyway, moving along...
  • BRONZER: Basically what it sounds like, something that can add a little brown color to your face so you don't look like a porcelain doll. You can use it to add an all-over glow to your face, to fake a tan, or to contour. I use theBalm Bahama Mama bronzer which I like a lot.
  • HIGHLIGHTER: You thought we were done with face stuff... Nope. So if bronzer darkens your face, highlighter illuminates it. So let's say you're standing under a light bulb and your face looks something like this but hopefully less patchy. The parts where the light hits your face and illuminates it would be where you put the highlighter, and the places where it's darker and a shadow is cast is where you put the bronzer/contouring powder/matte brown eyeshadow/magic shadow stuff. I'm not fancy enough for highlighter yet, but I hear theBalm's Mary-Lou Manizer is good.

Okay, now we're ready to move on to the things on your face:

    YOUR EYEBROWS

  • THICK EYEBROWS ARE A THING RIGHT NOW: They've become a pretty big frickin' deal lately. I think we can attribute this whole shebang to Cara Develingne.
  • EYEBROWS + FACE SHAPE: Different eyebrow shapes mesh better with different face shapes. For example, if you have a really long face, you don't want a super high arch for your eyebrows 'cause then it'll look like you have an even longer face. I think this is a good explanation of what brow shape you'll want to consider for your face shape.
  • HOW TO SHAPE YOUR EYEBROWS: Eyebrows are serious business. There are lots of YouTube tutorials and stuff but I like this slideshow from Elle because you can flip back and forth quickly. The part about stepping back to see the effect on your face is important!
  • HOW TO FILL IN + GROOM YOUR BROWS: Okay, so now you've shaped them and whatever, and maybe you messed up or your brows are just being rude and crazy so you groom them with a little lash brush thing. You also can fill them in if they're a little thin, and here is a good tutorial on how to do that. I use NYX Eyebrow cake powder kit in black/gray which I like quite a bit.

u/what_eva · 1 pointr/MakeupAddiction

Like I said, it's kinda hard to tell with the picture, but it appears like your foundation/bronzer is too yellow. It might be in the right shade number, but the wrong tone, and by that I mean the color of your undertones. This website explained it the best for me: http://thebeautydepartment.com/2011/08/going-undercover/

However, I found that even with an easy explanation, I had to go find a good makeup artist and ask them which tone I was and have them match me.

That being said, have you considered trying BB cream? That has been a god send for me. You don't have to worry about matching because (most) brands match your skin automatically, and not only that, but they contain SPF, help with scars, etc.! Seriously, if I was you I would think about trying that, you could buy some bb cream samples if you don't want to risk wasting money on a full size product here: http://cosmetic-love.com/byeuty-bag-12-kinds-of-bb-cream-samples.html?sl=EN

That's the site I used... and the BB creams vary, from light coverage, to medium, to full, and most have really nice healing properties and honestly, they just freaking rock lol

As for the pencil stick, like /u/Krakowianka said, it's just a simple creamy pencil, it's very popular on this sub because it is cheap yet is really high quality and provides many uses; some use it all over their lid as a primer to make eye shadow colors brighter, some use it as an eye liner, and some (like me) use it to brighten their eyes. There are so many uses! Don't confuse it with a regular eye liner pencil though, this pencil is a lot fatter and creamer, so it doesn't tug at your skin. Plus, it's super bright. If you can't find it in a local store, perhaps online? I know amazon sells it, but I don't know what online shops you use.

Another thing about the brows, again like /u/Krakowianka said, at first it will look over done because you aren't used to it. THAT being said, it's important to pick the right shade. It seems like you have the same problem I do, so using brown colors would likely look too bold. They do sell blond/red head eyebrow kits; this one right here looks nice, and I've used their brand before. It comes with very light brown/blond colors, and a peach color as well, so you can definitely find the right shade without it being too bold http://www.amazon.com/NYX-Cosmetics-Eyebrow-Stencil-Blondes/dp/B0055E425A/ref=pd_sim_bt_3

It also comes with instructions and stencils. BUT! do not feel like you HAVE to use stencils. Sometimes they work out great for people, sometimes they don't. For me personally, they never looked right.

It sucks ya posted this when everyone is in bed, I'm still sorta new so I feel like someone else could do a better job answering your questions!

I Heart Drugstore Makeup :)

  1. Revlon!
  2. Face: Revlon BB Cream, cheeks: Physicians Formula Mineral Glow Pearls, lips: Soft Matte Lip Cream (Like really. The best.)
  3. Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain. Thanks for the 10 minutes of lovely lip colour!
  4. Anything by NYC! Okay not so much the foundations. But really great lip and eye products for under $5 is awesome :)
  5. I don't know if they're just in Canada, but Outdoor Girl is a brand I see a lot in dollar stores here, and what I've tried has been really nice! Even their brush set is great. Good stuff, good value.
  6. Nail stickers! You could pay $8 for less than a week of nail polish, or $5 for an entire bottle... I mean, they can be cute and all but really.

  7. I don't have any high end products, so I don't really know! But I've tried some Dior face powder at a counter and thought that my Almay powder was much nicer :)
  8. New York Color Smooch Proof Lip Stain :( I wanted to believe.

  9. This NYX Cosmetics Eyebrow Kit!
  10. Definitely the Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler!! My eyelashes just won't give in to any old curler. Shu is my last hope for pretty lashes.

This was so hard! Thanks for the contest, I'm having fun looking through all the answers :)

>i think i like androgynous looks best

For androgynous looks you should focus on complexion, brows, and nude/natural lips.

Complexion: Don't neglect a good skincare regimen. This is more important than makeup imo. Cleanse, moisturize, sunscreen, and stay hydrated! Your skin will thank you.

Next, go to your closest Sephora and ask for foundation matching. Ask them about both shade and undertones. A pale warm skin will look much different than a pale cool skin. This is because of those different tones and can be really frustrating when you are just starting out. Makeup is essentially just paint for your face. Another commenter left an awesome and thoughtful reply about experimenting with applying foundation--read her entire comment because it's golden. You won't know how to do it until you try. A lot of makeup application is trial and error.

Brows: You'll need a brow pencil in a color that closely matches your natural brows, a [spoolie] (https://www.target.com/p/e-l-f-eyelash-brow-wand/-/A-15247525?sid=1316S&ref=tgt_adv_XS000000&AFID=google_pla_df&CPNG=PLA_Health+Beauty+Shopping_Local&adgroup=SC_Health+Beauty&LID=700000001170770pgs&network=g&device=m&location=9030209&gclid=CjwKCAjw85zdBRB6EiwAov3RihqEamqHG9SOuWxNapy8z81h3YFfKl9gkCsMlFspd5_jTQPVDHZBfhoC09wQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds) and some good tweezers. Focus on the shape. Clean up hairs above and below the shape you are trying to achieve. Using the spoolie, brush your brows up and trim off long hairs. Fill in the brow with the pencil, lightly at first and then darkening as you get used to it. It's just like coloring with a crayon. Brush through with the spoolie to blend the drawn brow with your natural brow. If you can't find a shape you like on your own, they make stencils (just be careful with these--it can make them too boxy or unnatural really fast).

Lips: For an androgynous look you'll want a nude or natural lip, which is great because it will be hard to mess up and even if you do the mistakes are less noticeable. It will also give you practice for later if you decide to move a more bolder route. Peachy or taupe colors starting out will be easy-peasy. For tools, a lip brush is sometimes helpful, as is a lip liner. Both will help keep your lipstick from "bleeding" or traveling outside of the lines. Draw your lip liner as close to your natural line as possible. If you do overdraw, try to keep a natural shape and also remember it will have a different texture and shade from your natural lip.

Look at reviews of products before you buy. This can give you an idea of how the product will work before you invest in it. The sidebar of the sub has a list of favorites (sometimes called hg or "holy grail") in every price range for basic products for eyes, lips, and face.

As you get more comfortable with application, you can start adding contour, smokey eyes, and darker lips for a more editorial andro look. Lastly, don't be scared--we were all newbies at one point!!

I've had two highly successful online boyfriends.

The first was this amazing guy from the UK who I met in some chat room when I was 16 & he was 21. He became one of my best friends, and we dated exclusively online for a couple years. The first time we ever met was when he flew to MN to stay with me over Christmas. After I graduated high school I went and lived with him in Wales for 6 months. All in all we were together for about 5 years. We called it quits a couple years ago, but I don't regret a single moment of it, except how I treated him in the end, I was pretty shitty. We're not on bad terms or anything, more like sad terms. I call this relationship a success because if I hadn't been such a buh buh selfish bitch, we would probably still be dating.

About a year and a half ago I met my current SO on Tumblr, and I flew out to PA a couple times to visit him before packing up and moving in Feb 2013! Now we have a townhome and a kitty, and we haven't murdered each other yet, so I'd say that's pretty successful. :p

Non romantic, but I also have a long time IRL friend that I met on Xanga, an IRL / Tumblr lady friend, and my absolute best friend that I also met on Tumblr! The only one I haven't met in real life is my best friend, because I'm broke now and she lives in Oklahoma.

Anyone who says internet friends aren't real is just jealous that they've never lived in a foreign country to be with someone they love. :p

edit: I could sure use this kit to fill in my invisible eyebrows with...

u/colarg · 2 pointsr/RandomActsofMakeup

If i win, can the prize go to someone else? I already own the mariposa palette (which i love <3!!) so i don't need it, but i know /u/starfishe wants it.

So, you have strong killer eyebrows, may i suggest a brow kit just to perfect them?

Also, i think this blush will go perfect with your complexion.

2- My mom inspire me, if i live to be half as awesome as she is, i will def. turn out great!

3- My mom told me right before my wedding: "Love is a choice". To this day this has been the best advice (on marriage) i've received.

Congratulations!!!! And brava for doing your own makeup! :-)

I didn't see this listed- but I like the Revlon lash glue! You don't have to wait 30 seconds, but the only downfall is after a few uses the bottle gets a little sticky.

http://smile.amazon.com/Revlon-Precision-Lash-Adhesive-0-17/dp/B003TTB4SG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1409060768&sr=8-1&keywords=revlon+lash+glue

Also, for eyebrow powder, I haven't used any powders but I really like MUFE aqua brow with a Sigma E75 angled brow brush. For quick days I use EX Brow Lash (I like the felt tip side).

http://smile.amazon.com/BCL-BROWLASH-Eyebrow-Pencil-Natural/dp/B0025X5X16/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1409060923&sr=8-2&keywords=ex+brow+lash

http://www.sephora.com/aqua-brow-P375462?skuId=1441146

For a highlighter, I am loving Becca's Moonstone, and I need to get my hands on Opal but I've played w/ it in stores and loved it too! I have Rosegold but it might not be the best for a highlighter for you.

For a lipstain, I love MUFE aqua rouge! They're the only things that don't rub off when I wear it. For me, lip tars some colors are awesome and some rub off. The only bad thing w/ the aqua rouges is there isn't a huge color selection. The shade you picked out looks gorgeous!

http://www.sephora.com/aqua-rouge-P374940?skuId=1507771

I hope this helps! And also, sorry it's a messy post! I don't know how to condense a website in a nice little format like you did! :-)

NYX Blushes

Not exactly makeup, but most makeup ladies I know love to keep up our inner beauty She'll probably need to relax and wind down eventually!

Makeup remover wipes

Concealer

Eyeshadow singles

Creamy eye-shadow

WET N WILD IS AMAZING AND SO CHEAP!

BROWS!

If she prefers something more sheer on her lips

Beauty blenders

If you want to pick something up at a physical store, you can use this thread from MUA for good drugstore brands that run pretty cheap usually :)

If you can't find anything good from this, here's some Brands I suggest:

  • Maybelline (lippies [usually], glosses, and the FIT Me foundation & concealer are amazing) Amazon/CVS/Walmart/Rite-Aid/Ulta

  • Wet n Wild (eye shadows, lippies) usually on Amazon w/ free shipping and <$5 so no worries

  • ELF (Studio line brushes [the others are ehhh] and blush) not everything is on Amazon, but the site has lots of deals and sales all the time

  • NYX (lippies, brow kits, eye shadows) CVS/Amazon/Ulta

As you can tell, yes, I'm really really into makeup

Fabulous! Here's my list. I have very, very high expectations for dupes (got screwed over too many times trying to dupe NARS Orgasm), so if something isn't exact I'll say why!

Foundation:

High End - Giorgio Armani Maestro Fusion Makeup

Budget - L'Oreal Magic Nude Liquid Powder The ingredients are in the same order, except the L'Oreal has less irritants!

Finishing Powder:

I tint my own brows at home with this stuff and it works well for my needs. I have light brow hairs but I also have sparse brows. I purposely leave it on for a couple minutes longer than suggested for the purpose of staining my skin a little. Afterward, it looks as if I have perfectly filled in brows. The staining of the skin only last a couple days which I'm fine with. But afterward I just have nicer looking natural looking brows for the next couple weeks or more.

The trick with my technique is that when applying the tint, you gotta stay within the lines of the brow. What I mean is, apply it as perfectly shaped as possible. As if you were painting on solid perfectly shaped brows. Wherever the tint touches, it gets colored so you need to be neat and tidy.

u/Jett202 · 1 pointr/MakeupAddiction

I love the lip color (it looks very natural), and it looks like you have near flawless skin!

I agree with keiramarie about the eyebrows--and I'd go for something that matches the darkest shade of your hair color. Also, have you considered lining your upper lids with dark eye shadow/angled eye shadow brush instead of with eyeliner? I think it would soften your face beautifully!

You have fair skin like me, and I recently sprang for the Beach Tint in "peach"---it works soooo well! If you're looking for a very natural flush, just dab a very very small amount on the tip of your finger and rub it into the apples of your cheeks, spreading it back and away, toward your hair. Any peachy blush would look great, though. Your skin is perfect for it

edit: you asked the other lady about suggestions for the eyebrow fillers and [here are some nice ones (check out the blonde one)] (http://www.amazon.com/NYX-Eyebrow-Cake-Powder-Brown/dp/B002QI2TPI/ref=sr_1_1?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1397165188&sr=1-1&keywords=eyebrow+powder)

Here and here are great eyebrow tutorials I really like. You said you have really sparse natural brows- have you ever tried an at-home tint kit? They're really affordable, the one I use I get on Amazon here. It helps me use less eyebrow makeup, and it dyes the lighter hairs next to my brows so I have more to work with when I pluck and shape mine. :)

I'm still learning contour too- I spotted your blending thing because it's an issue I have with my own makeup. If I make my contour too dark, it's super hard to blend and is just stripes on my face. Too light and it just looks like I wiped dirt on myself haha. You're doing fantastic, I look forward to seeing future looks from you! Do you have an insta?

u/[deleted] · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Okay, I don't have any makeup that goes up to $20. If I were to win, I'd really love the perfect brow kit and/or the elf blemish sheer kit. Together it's $15 and separate they're each either $7 or $8. :) I'd love for you to be able to gift another! <3

Tips: eyebrows are so important. I have super thin and super light eyebrows so I make sure to fill them in and they really shape your face! If you've never tried the elf products, they're super cheap but a lot better than most makeups that are not super high dollar. :)

What the heckie, rock the discotechi!

The cheapest thing on my wishlist are these eyebrow stencils https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00373FE76/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_1SHXtb1H1TX38PSF?ie=UTF8

I have so many hobbies! Probably because i am literally interested in everything I always wanna learn more.

I do some beading and wire jewelry work, I like this one for one my anxiety is really bad because concentration helps me get over the feelings I get.

I am into cooking, specially after a long day at work, it helps me get my frustration with people out into something positive.

I am into automotive work, I love the feeling of having fixed something that was broken, because my life sometimes breaks and I can't fix it, plus its a great way to get out frustrations when you can't hit the person you're mad at, and there is a satisfaction when a guy says you cant cuz youre a girls and you show them.

I love photography, this mostly because I do it woth my SO and its something fun we do together, and we can pretty much do it where ever and when ever we want.

These are my main hobbies although there are a million other things I wanna do/try.

Happy birthday to you!!! I hope you have a good day!

If it was my birthday, I would love to have more brushes, like this set of RT Starter Set because at the moment I have about three brushes for eyeshadow, and I want to practice doing my eyeshadow with different brushes! And this NYX eyebrow cake powder so that I can practice doing my black eyebrows! I bought an ELF brow kit in medium which is definitely not my color, because I have black hair :( It's my party!

u/itsnotgoingtohappen · 5 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

I made a shopping list. Pick one substitute instead of a splurge and you come in under $250. The splurges I picked are well worth the cost, though. Note also that the chocolate bar palette is the only one I listed because it's pretty much the be-all-end-all of palettes for its simultaneous pops of flattering colors and neutrality. I also believe everyone should have a gorgeous red lippie. Enjoy!

Brushes:

  • Real Techniques Starter Set - $13.49 on Amazon, normally $17.99
  • Real Techniques Core Collection - $13.49 on Amazon, normally $17.99

    Foundations:

  • Maybelline New York Baby Skin Primer, $5.99 on Amazon
  • Pond's Luminous Finish BB Cream, $8.95 on Amazon, normally $10.00
  • Splurge item: Too Faced Cocoa Powder Foundation, $34 at toofaced.com
  • Strong Substitute: ULTA Mineral Powder Foundation, $14 at ULTA

    Face & Contouring:

  • ULTA Baked Bronzer, $10 at ULTA
  • theBalm Bahama Mama $14 at Amazon
  • Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush Pink Plum, $5.59 at Amazon
  • If you don't like cream blush, NYX Powder Blush in Desert Rose, $6 on Amazon
  • e.l.f. Shimmering Facial Whip LILAC PETAL, $5-6 on Amazon, but I think it's like $3 at Target

    Eyes:

  • Splurge item: Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette, $49 at toofaced.com
  • Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion, $12 sample size at urbandecay.com (the sample size has lasted me forever)
  • Splurge item: Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara, $23 at toofaced.com
  • Substitute: Rimmel Scandal Eyes Mascara, $6.99 on Amazon
  • NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil set with Black Bean,Milk, and Yogurt, $13 on Amazon
  • Splurge item: stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner, $20 on Amazon
  • Substitute: NYX Felt Tip Liner, $8 on Amazon
  • NYX Eyebrow Cake Powder, $6 on Amazon

    Lippies:

  • Splurge: MAC Russian Red, $16 at MACcosmetics.com
  • Substitute: Revlon Really Red - I couldn't find this on Amazon reliably, but check drug stores.
  • Basically any NYX lippie is great to start out and they range from about $4-8. Find one in your fave color at target or ULTA.

Edit: Forgot eyebrows. Darn. Still can come under $250 with the right substitutions.

I am also super naturally blonde (well, ashy grey blonde) and I tint mine using Godefroy's Professional Tint Kit! It's super easy - you just mix it on, leave it on your brows, and then wipe clean. You can definitely take it by stages too (it's better to start with too light of a tint than go straight to really dark). I'm a total convert.

u/naorlar · 1 pointr/FierceFlow

Dont do it! You're almost there. I can see glimpses of the greatness that's about to come and damn does it look good.

Something fun you can experiment with in the meanwhile if you wanna pull attention away from your hair during this growth phase is dying your eyebrows. With a darker brow, attention will be pulled away from your hair and redirected to your eyes.

A brow dyeing kit $20 on Amazon and takes 15 kins tops. Super easy and wears off after a few weeks if you dont like it.

Ps. I love your eyebrow color as is, this suggestion is just for the interim phase.

u/Junkyards_daughter · 4 pointsr/AsianBeauty

Since she's interested in the Moistfull Collagen Cream maybe you could get her another product from that line? I saw this kit on Amazon. Also, I recently bought an etude house brow pencil that I really like if you think you could match her brow shade. Also you could do some small items like a cute eyeshadow palette or hand creams or something like that as well!

u/grendelwynn · 2 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

It's been a while since I've used a brow-wiz/pencil type product! I'm lazy and have pretty good natural brows, thank god. Mostly I just brush through my brows with the L'Oreal brow stylist plumper in light/medium or the Nyx brow mascara in...I'm not sure what color I have in this, exactly. I just know it's a little too dark for me >.< but I like it anyway.

I really like the ashiness (aaaand the price) of the etude house drawing eyebrow in grey brown although the formula is a little hard for my taste. It's hard to get a precise "hair-like" line with this but it's okay for filling in patchy areas.

Oh wait I also have a tarte powder from forever ago that I think I will probably l have until I die; there is so much of it in the pan. I have it in medium brown and it's the perfect color. I just use an angled brush with this one. This might be the closest thing to the benefit brow zings that I can comment on, although it doesn't come with a wax or anything.

I'm a little late to the party but a few things you can do about the sliding! Not sure if you're into makeup or not, but I found out if you dab a little but of this stuff on the bridge where your eyelasses rest it helps them stay!! I started using it 2 weeks ago and it's helped so much! If your nose is really oily, try swiping on some translucent powder. If you're a guy, don't get intimidated by the powder! It helps :)

If this is the case, then I can recommend you the product I use right now. Lioele Auto Eyebrow Pencil in #3 Gray Black is a really great brow product to go with black brows and hair. NYX Proof It Eyebrow Primer Base
https://www.amazon.com/NYX-Cosmetics-Waterproof-Eyebrow-Primer/dp/B00M3GUG0S

Believe me when I say that this really works. I've over plucked as well and have fine, thin, blonde, angry little half brows. This means I'm usually drawing the arch and tail on.

I believe the official product description says it will waterproof any powder product which is 100% accurate. I typically use the NYX Eyebrow Cake Powder. I find powder is the easiest to work with because it clings to the tiny little baby hairs I do have which keeps my brows from looking painted on. I've used pencils (Anastasia Brow Definer) with this product and it will also waterproof any brow tinting mascara (for those lucky ducks that have naturally full brows).

I went swimming over the weekend and it lasted after diving, splashing, sweating, etc. I was blown away.

The best part... It's so freaking affordable that it can't hurt to try it out. Hope this helps.

Dude, using like four different eyebrow products has been a GAME CHANGER and LIFE SAVER for me. :) First I extend the length of my brow tails using this after brushing my brows with the spoolie. Then I fill in and shape the rest of my brows using this. Then I'll fill in any bare spots with this stuff. Finally my last step is securing those beasts with this!!!! I hope this helps. :)

Yay!

Name: Jenni

Favourite makeup product: hmmm, probably Rimmel Stay Matte pressed powder I can't live without it!

Favourite makeup look: The odd occasion that calls for a "night-out" look, I love fancying up my eye makeup and looking more 'dramatic'!

Most interesting fact/story: The only contest I have ever won was a crappy 6-inch foam airplane! haha maybe that's not the "most" interesting fact about me, but it's kinda funny ;)

Add-on that I've been wanting: this elf eyebrow kit because I've never tried elf products before and I need something new for my brows!

u/lilghost76 · 1 pointr/MakeupAddiction

I actually love the stark contrast of the black brows against my skin, I use black eyeshadow for the most part.

That all said, on days that I'm feeling lazy and don't want to spend time making sure they don't look like sharpie brows, I use this gray pencil: http://www.amazon.com/Lioele-Auto-Eyebrow-Gray-Black/dp/B008J7I8MS/ref=sr_1_1?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1414961452&sr=1-1&keywords=lioele+eyebrow+pencil

It's not too harsh, just very neutral gray, so I just swipe for a bit and then set it with clear eyebrow gel. I think they are an Asian company. The reason I looked into that was because Dark brown/black hair is so common over there. Hope that helps.

u/KatelynnPwnz · 2 pointsr/RandomActsofMakeup

This Wet n Willd eyebrow palette has really good reviews, I use a pencil from wet n wild right now and I LOVE it! (and it was only 98 cents)

As far as wax's go I have been wanting to try the NYX wax shaper pencil, I've heard good things about it. I use Maybelline's clear mascara right now, but I want to try a wax since the clear mascara has an applicator it gets cloudy with color.

On top of what everyone else says, I recommend tinting your brows. I have super sparse brows and like to go as sheer as possible in my day makeup look. So if I tint my brows, and then fill in with powder (and if I'm feelin a little extra some brow gel) it seriously helps. I have REALLY light eyebrows and I definitely recommend Anastasia's brow products, especially their Brow Powder Duo, I use it daily. also recommend Etude House's Tint My Brows Gel, it's basically henna for your eyebrows. there are some mixed feelings about this product (some people have had hairs peels off and it turns orange when it fades) but it's great for special occasions/when you wanna have a lazy makeup week.

Ok, first, take a deep breath! This is a very emotionally taxing time.

Next, get yourself some eyebrow stencils like this and use a brightly colored eyeliner (I use teal blue or white) to trace the shape that you want. Pluck everything outside of the shape you traced. Then fill in any gaps with a matching eyebrow pencil. Hope this helps!

The clothing is basically late 80s/early 90s normcore. But the "bombshell look" is obviously all about being movie star beautiful.

A note on the makeup - this is still my all time favorite makeup "look." It requires strong brows (I'm a big fan of brow tint and Glossier boy brow), brick red lipstick, nude eyeshadow, no obvious contouring or blush, mascara, eyeliner (usually quite light), no highlighter. Notice the skin is matte, not shiny.

u/Daheep · 5 pointsr/AsianBeauty

Castor oil is supposed to help hair grow back quickly & stronger, so try applying a thin layer at night. If your hair is a light chestnut brown to warm blonde, the Etude House Tint My Brow Gel may work for you as a temporary solution. I don't recommend it for darker hair, the Grey Brown it turned orange on me after a few hours & from the reviews I read, many people have experienced the same problem. If your hair is darker, the only thing close to an all day brow product for me was a brow marker with a layer of Model in a Bottle over it. I've used it for special occasions, but I wouldn't recommend using it daily though; it forms a really strong film, so I can't imagine this being good for your skin or brow hair in the long run. A similar product is Duraline by Inglot, but you would mix it directly with a brow powder or eye shadow & apply the mixture with an angled liner brush.

Does she have enough eyebrow hair to use a powder, or is Tally a pencil-only lady? If she can use powder (maybe powder and something to set it? Two Faced Liquif-eye maybe?) NYX is the best auburn brow colour I've ever found! It sounds like her and I have the same hair colour - something between strawberry and auburn - and I swear by this set. I've tried almost everything and I keep coming back.

The darker colour is great for "fake" reds, and the taupe-y brown-y reddish one is almost impossible to find in my redhead world. My natural brows aren't quite red and they're not quite brown... but they're slightly darker and more brown than my hair. This has been my dream colour! Plus, NYX is really cheap.

Check out the colours on!

Edit: I messed up the links.

u/amfiguous · 2 pointsr/AsianBeauty

Hi! This product is actually a brow mascara-- Basically you comb your brows with the product and it colors your brow hairs, makes them thicker, and gives them the appearance of being filled in.

My usual eyebrow routine is using an eyebrow brush and brow powder. I've been using the same one from NYX foreverrrrr, I hit pan awhile ago but I won't let myself buy a new brow product until I finish >.< My brow brush has a brush on one end and a comb on the other that I use for brushing the hairs.

Trying to make this as simple as possible: I grab powder with my brush and start at the middle of my brows, where it's the thickest, filling it in and slowly making my way to the front of the brow. I like powder because it looks natural and I don't do power brows. Sometimes I use a pencil to make my brows darker on the ends, but I don't find it completely necessary. I always end with clear brow gel, because my brow hairs are long and I don't want them to be pointing in all sorts of crazy directions.

Let me know if you have more questions!

u/boootsandkats · 2 pointsr/alopecia_areata

This tint is a henna-type thing that's meant to tint your skin for a few days. i tried it on my brows and it lasted about 2-3 days but that was in the summer, when I sweat a lot more. Now, it'd probably last 4 days.

You probably need a lighter color, but it's worth a try and application will take you 15 min tops.

Edit to add: that this henna will dye your white hairs too.

u/pygoscelis · 1 pointr/MakeupAddiction

Lioele auto eyebrow pencil in gray #3! You can get one from Amazon if you don't have any Asian beauty stores in your area. Perfect for black hair. The pencil is angled so it's super easy to apply, and it lasts. I've filled in my brows before fencing tournaments and still had them look the same after 4 hours of ridiculous sweating. My only quibble is that the packaging is kind of brittle and you'll probably lose the spoolie cap before you use up the pencil, but I wholeheartedly recommend it anyway.

Etude House has a line of eyebrow tint gels that I've tried and can work really well. They're basically dyes in the form of a gel that you apply then peel off, but it lasts for a few days.

perhaps something like this? I think powder looks far more natural than pencil. You could also see if you have a medium taupe color and try that on for size. Warning: it might be weird to have brows when you aren't used to having them ;). Also, you might look around your area and see if there are any day spas that offer brow dyeing. My mom has super blonde brows, and she gets hers dyed for about $20 every 6 weeks.

My best and worst are actually the same product- a double ended eyebrow pencil/pen from a Japanese brand I can't identify. I bought it at 0035m in Chinatown NYC this past July. Here it is on Amazon.

Best: The pen is great. It matches my hair pretty well, and the precision and pigmentation I get from it is way better than anything I've tried from Anastasia Beverly Hills. It has a brush tip, kind of like the Kat Von D Tattoo Liner if you've tried it. Go over it with some clear brow gel from MAC and you've got some flawless eyebrows.

Worst: I actually really liked the pencil side of the product (I thought it was like ABH Brow Wiz but more pigmented), but the product only came with a cap for the pen side (?!) so the whole thing dried out within a few days of opening. I mainly bought it for the pen so I don't mind, but who the hell doesn't think to include a cap for a twist up pencil???

u/sammisamantha · 2 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

Not an eyeliner but have your tried looking at asian brow pencils?

Etude makes one similar in shape to the brow definer.
It's $4 on amazon. Works very will with cool toned brown brows.

I bought this one. Wow the brush is that small? I'll definitely try drawing hairs like you suggested!

Eastern asian here, in your exact situation! I have this grey-brown eyebrow pencil by Etude House that's literally the perfect color for my brows. Maybe it's something you could try?

u/Jennykay · 8 pointsr/TheGirlSurvivalGuide

I have black hair and I really like using a grey colored pencil. I use the etude house drawing eyebrow pencil either in dark grey or grey brown. I think black was a little too dark for my skin tone.

This is the one I use!

Nyx has it in a pencil!

I'm not sure if wax is better or worse than gel. I have used gel and hairspray myself, and between those two I prefer the hairspray (gel just gets too gunky too fast and definitely doesn't look natural - I used normal hair gel though and not brow-specific gel, so YMMV). I generally spray a tiny bit of hairspray on my finger and then smooth it over my eyebrow - it holds well and doesn't look or feel bad, but I think wax might be better so I'm going to try the wax pencil.

I think yall are reading way too deeply into this. By brow tattoo they were probably 1) joking and 2) referring to really common (and often cheap) products that are popular in Korean makeup, some of them come in brush tip forms like this and you paint on your brow, wait for it to set, and wash it off at night so you have a temporarily filled in brow for a few days. It's ideally used to save time in your daily makeup routine so you don't have to draw your brows everyday, so it's no different than wearing makeup and isn't a permanent tattoo at all. These products are so ubiquitous in Korea but not as much in the West which is why some people might have interpreted as an actual tattoo, but as someone who's super into K-beauty I immediately thought of the temporary product and not a real tattoo.

Also, I don't think it's the fans who tell them that they don't look good bare faced or whatever, it's probably just the fact that they wear makeup so often that sometimes they feel a little uncomfortable on camera without it, which honestly most people who wear makeup often also feel. Some people feel more confident with makeup on, and it's no one else's job to tell them that there's anything wrong with that.

eyebrow pencil
Recently I had an issue with an order at Dunkin. Did mobile order and they gave me a huge hassle when I arrived. Did the survey explaining my issues and they ended up sending me a gift card worth three times my order to make up for my inconvenience.

u/alienwasabi · 1 pointr/MakeupAddiction

I haven't tried them myself, but there are eyebrow tints (most from korea) that are supposed to last from a few days up to a week!

Edit: found one from Maybelline :
https://www.maybelline.co.uk/eyes/brow/new-tattoo-brow-easy-peel-off-tint

And one from etude house:
https://www.amazon.com/Etude-House-Brows-Eyebrow-Lasting/dp/B01AMZ8D38

There are a lot of reviews on youtube from the tints, so you can look it up for reference and if you like the results.

Someone just raved about Nyx's eyebrow cake powder :) I ordered mine and it hasn't arrived yet but I got it off of Amazon for only $6. They have a wide range of colors. I'd say you're maybe a brunette or a dark brown/brown? Linksy

u/Polysaccharide · 2 pointsr/AskWomen

I have dark hair but the same problem you do with it thinning out to nothing past the "nub" section. I use this Lioele Eyebrow pencil every morning. I prefer this one over others because it builds very well which allows you to choose how dark you eyebrows will be. The different eyebrow kits can do the same thing but I have found that eyebrow pencils are much more convenient.

Like others have suggested, I would also check /r/MakeupAddiction for more advice though. That is where I found all of the eyebrow products I tried before I ultimately decided to use my Lioele pencil.

u/SuperEltanin · 2 pointsr/drugstoreMUA

I'm naturally strawberry blonde with unfortunately pale/nearly invisible eyebrows and this is what I use.
I use the lighter color, but I imagine the darker color would be good for more coppery/auburn redheads.

If you're cool with ordering online, I use the Etude House Drawing Brow in Gray Brown.

Try adding an eyebrow primer, I use this and it creates a tacky base that keeps my pomade in place.

u/false_parallax · 2 pointsr/CatsandCosmetics

I personally really like this angled one from Korean brand Etude House. I use Dipbrow when I want my brows to be sharp, but my day-to-day use is that. It comes in a few different colors. I use #3 I think, and I will be repurchasing.

u/strubes · 10 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

I use this Etude House eyebrow pencil daily and it lasts me around 6 months. The thing just never dies!

NYX Eyebrow Cake Powder in Black/Grey.

Looove it. I have black hair and the same problem with brown eyebrow products.

There are two products that I have used to darken my brows as I have the same problem as you. My brows are quite thick so really all I'm doing with these is darkening them although I believe both products could be used to fill.
This brow gel works well and lasts a really long time. The downside is that it's not very precise and it adds extra time to my routine in the morning. Which is why I've mostly been using this kit but only the left side. No downside, just plain works.
