Shipping not included, but I'm happy to negotiate prices. Can also get more precise measurements, fit pics, or additional pictures of any item. All items are in good condition - I found some old things in my closet that were stretched or heavily worn-out, etc. and those pieces did not make it here. Pet-free, smoke-free home.

SHIRTS

  • Aeropostale plaid shirt - red - size M - $15 - awesome plaid shirts. Aero doesn't get much love here but these are a couple years old and one of their pieces that doesn't suck IMO. I have three of these shirts in different colors, and I really like them all but I finally realized they were too big on me. All in great condition. GREEN AND BLUE SOLD - RED STILL AVAILABLE

  • Uniqlo flannel - purple/navy - size M - $20 - really great flannel from the store everybody knows. 10 or so wears, but I can't keep pretending this fits me, it's just too big. super soft, substantial but not too heavy, excellent condition.

  • AEO white western-style(?) snap-closure button-down - size M - $15 - cool shirt, just a little big on me. pretty lightweight and the snaps add some interesting detail. great condition, no stains or blemishes (hard to find in a used white shirt IMO)

  • AEO blue/white striped button-down, size M - $15 - quality shirt. the eagle logo is less noticeable in person. like most of my medium shirts, I've realized it's just a bit too big on me.

  • jcp solid blue OCBD - size S - $20 - excellent shirt for the price, nearly as popular as Uniqlo's for frugal OCBDs. I believe JCPenney is discontinuing this product (and most/all of their men's clothing, or at least the jcp line?). great condition, only owned/worn for a few months (snagged one in store when the clearance was first starting). only selling because I "upgraded" to BB OCBDs when they had the 3 for $150 or whatever sale.

    PANTS

  • AEO khaki jeans - 32/32 - $20 - had these in my closet for a few years, barely ever wore them. <10 wears altogether, again excellent condition.

  • Threads 4 Thought lightweight washed chino, pale yellow - 32/33 - $15 - wore a few times last summer. very lightweight, great for warm weather.

  • F.U.S.A.I. skinny fit electric blue stretch jeans - 32/30 - $15 - 98% cotton 2% spandex. check this photo for a better idea of the color than my pictures provide. probably 10 or so wears on these. also from Jackthreads along with the yellow chinos above.

  • AEO orange cords - 32/32 - $20 - only a few wears, just too big for me in the waist. the picture with my hand in it is most accurate on the color.

    SHOES

  • Asos navy/white print espadrilles - 10D - $15 - ~10 wears. don't appear to be available on the website anymore. apparently I ordered a UK 9, which is a US 10, which probably explains why I always thought they were a little big. my mistake is your gain. really cool pattern on these, great casual summer shoes.

  • Dockers Catalina loafers - 9D - $40 - wore these in rotation with several other pairs of shoes during spring/summer, still in great condition. MSRP $80, on sale for $60 on Amazon currently. normally I'd be skeptical of shoes from Dockers, but these are a really great frugal option if you want to try loafers but don't want to spend a ton. the cushioned footbed on these is super comfortable with or without socks.

    SWEATERS AND OUTERWEAR

  • Aeropostale dark gray fair isle zip cardigan - size M - $25 - I don't think I've ever actually worn this. once or twice at most. cotton/wool blend, great condition.

  • Super Vintage purple/white zip hoodie - size M - $25 - not familiar with this brand, got this as a gift. worn <10 times, just doesn't really fit my style anymore. thicker and warmer than the kind of hoodie you'd get from Target or H&M though, and the color is actually pretty cool, it's just not something I find myself wearing anymore.

  • Gap wool mock-neck pullover sweater with snap closures - charcoal - size M - $30 - less than 10 wears. super warm and comfy. several of those wears just came from wearing this around the house when it was cold because it feels that good. had this for several years and I'm pretty sure Gap doesn't sell it anymore. overall great sweater, I know I'll be holding onto it if I can't sell it here.

  • Polo Ralph Lauren quarter-zip pullover fleece - yellow - size M - $15 - never worn, got it as a gift and it's not really my style. pretty soft though.

  • GH Bass quarter-zip pullover fleece - burnt orange - size M - $15 - a little darker in person, second picture is more representative of the color. only wore this once or twice, like-new condition. fairly light so you could wear it in spring or even summer depending on the day.

  • American Eagle military-style jacket - charcoal - size S - $50 - this is tagged size L, but if it were really an L it'd be huge on me. as it is, it fits fine, like what I'd expect an S or possibly M to fit like. I don't know. I can take measurements or provide fit pics if you're interested. Anyway, this has been in my closet for a long time and it's pretty heavy and super warm. definitely the warmest coat I owned until recently (probably second now to my Schott car coat). the pockets are pretty wrinkled in these pictures, but I can try and steam it or something before I ship if it's bothering you. it's otherwise in perfect condition, no tears/stains/etc.

    OTHER

  • Levi's red belt, size 34 - $15 - like-new condition, pretty cool color, I just have too many belts. color is just slightly darker than what appears in the first picture.

  • near-full 4oz tub of Obenauf's Heavy Duty LP - $8 - if you want to weatherproof your boots, this is a great choice. I bought this and realized I don't need weatherproofing for my needs, so I'm selling it. a full 4oz tub is $12 on Amazon Prime or $10+whatever shipping costs on the Obenauf's website.

PM or reply here if you see something you're interested in. again, I'm happy to provide extra pics, more info, or negotiate prices. thanks for reading!

I actually had a friend ask something similar recently so I'm going to copy and paste what I sent him (From the line down). I also added a couple of bits that apply to you specifically, especially in the first point.

I'm not exactly a fashion master by any means but these are some rules I stick to and I get a lot of compliments on what I wear.

I'm European and generally, from what I've gathered from discussions with a few American friends, it's more expected of guys to take care with how they dress over here. So these are the basics I would suggest.

***

  • Find jeans that fit. If you think they're uncomfortable it's because either a) you're wearing the wrong size/cut, b) you're not wearing them for long enough. All new jeans are a bit stiff before you wear them in. Get jeans that are slim but not skinny. They should fit your form but still have some slack on them without being baggy. Like this -- it'll most likely be either skinny cut or slim cut, depending on how thick your legs are. I know you said you're against jeans but the fact is they're the perfect balance of being casual but not lazy looking like sweatpants. If you're REALLY REALLY against jeans then apply similar rules to chinos but chinos should be a tad looser

  • If looking for shorts, don't get basketball shorts or sports shorts. It looks lazy. You want something like this - chino shorts work well. A braided belt goes well with chino shorts. The shorts should not go below the knee. On a side-note, I personally try to only wear trainer/ankle socks when I wear shorts.

  • No graphic tees unless it's a basic basic design. Logos are fine, but no actual pictures of anything. No graphics that stand out.

  • Get some button up shirts. Again they should be form fitting but not tight. Make sure you can comfortably roll up the sleeves (girls love it). If you're wearing a shirt with shorts, short sleeved shirts look better. If you're wearing trousers, rolled up long sleeved shirts are usually better than short sleeved ones. Checkered or plaid are good go-to designs but it's hard to go wrong with button up shirts, it's pretty obvious when a design is a no-go. I personally avoid leaving the shirt unbuttoned with a T-Shirt underneath but some people don't mind it. If you wear a T-shirt underneath for insulation purposes avoid a V neck

  • Unless it's the summer where it's too hot, layering looks great and is practical in cold weather.

  • Pick up some basic black and white T-shirts. Up to you if you prefer V neck but you need 2 or 3 simply because they're so versatile and can go with almost anything. And again, form fitting but not tight. In a basic T-shirt, the shoulder seam should sit roughly on the 'corner' of your shoulder. If it's further out than that it's probably too big - when the arms go too low and/or are baggy it isn't flattering. However, some T-shirts are just put together weirdly and the seam is further out. But in almost every case this is a solid rule

  • Use striped T-shirts with caution, they're not flattering on everyone

  • Learn what colours go with what. Personally I can intuitively see what works with what but if you can't just look at what colours compliment one another. Some general rules for colour: a) avoid having your lower and upper half in the same colour, unless it's jeans and a blue shirt which is usually fine as long as it's not the same shade of blue. b) avoid colours that would stand out in a crowd (really bright or neon). A bright red or green in particular stands out a lot

  • Don't ignore the shoes. Often people have a good outfit on but the shoes don't match and it ruins it. Some blue or black low top converse or vans are EXTREMELY versatile and will go with almost any casual outfit. It's important you find something comfortable, though. Something like this would be good, although you obviously don't need to get any that expensive. For the winter I recommend Timberland boots. They look good and are EXTREMELY comfortable, and should last you years.

  • Accessories aren't just for girls. A watch is good. Doesn't have to be an expensive metal thing, I use a retro one like this. Other options include wristbands (e.g. if you've been to a festival recently), any other wrist accessory that wouldn't look silly on a guy, scarves, hats, sunglasses

  • Speaking of sunglasses, get a frame that matches your facial shape: http://i.imgur.com/kleafiE.jpg

  • It's hard to go wrong with jumpers really, you can go baggy or fitting as long as the colour/pattern is reasonable and matches everything else. A grey hoodie (not zip-up) is fine in a casual setting and will go with pretty much anything. Bear in mind that unless you specifically follow that item's instructions, jumpers will usually shrink a fair bit in the wash. I always go one size bigger than I need for that reason.

  • If there's a lot going on with what you're wearing above the waist, wear something very basic below the waist. And vice versa.

  • If you're wearing a jacket, it's not something you just throw on on top of your outfit, it's a part of the outfit and so should match it. For that reason, get something that works with nearly anything like this

  • Get a good haircut. Too much to really go into but as I'm sure you're aware undercuts are extremely popular right now. Make sure it's something that compliments the shape of your face and head.

  • If you have a beard, keep it tidy and keep it groomed.

Overall, it's easy to look good and like you care about your appearance without spending a ludicrous amount of money and without looking vain. If you see any expensive clothes you like the look of, you can EASILY find a cheaper version online. Nobody will be able to tell the difference unless they're into fashion and brands. A lot of people shy away from buying clothes online but as long as you know your basic measurements you'll be fine. However, I would recommend not buying off-brand shoes. It's one of the few items where buying off-brand is significantly worse in quality, durability and comfort.

Quoddy Classic Boat Shoes

Quoddy boat shoes have been reviewed many times here, so I didn’t think they were worth a post of their own, but this thread looks like the right place.

Link to Album

The pictures were taken after the shoes had been worn for a couple of days. They have been brushed, but no products have been applied to them. The album includes bonus shots comparing Quoddy and Sperry.

Intro

I like to wear sandals in hot weather. I like a snug fit, and lots of support (no flip-flops for me). These Mephisto Allrounders, purchased long before I knew anything about quality footwear, have been my favorite sandals.

Last summer I vacationed in Asia, when it was very hot (100°F+). Many of the temples I visited did not allow sandals. I decided to get some Sperry boat shoes to wear in the temples. I got these in Navy perforated leather.

I got hooked on the look and feel of boat shoes, and decided to get a better quality pair. I went with Quoddy. I liked that I could customize the build, and the MTO price was just a bit more than other RTW options.

I will be using these shoes mostly for walking around the in the city in the summer. Quoddy’s Blucher might have been a better shoe for this purpose, but I like the lower profile of the boat shoe, as well as the perimeter lacing that gives me a perfect fit in the heel.

Makeup

Since these are for city wear, and will rarely if ever be worn on a boat, I went for a monochromatic look with a Vibram sole. I got them lined in the hope that would make them more comfortable sockless, although a post in a recent SQ thread indicates otherwise.

I ordered the following makeup:

  • Upper: Chromexcel/Brown
  • Sole Type: Vibram Rugged Sole
  • Sole Color: Charcoal
  • Thread: Dark Brown
  • Hardware: Antique Brass
  • Lace: Rawhide/Coffee
  • Lining: Brown Glove Leather
  • Size: 8.5 D
  • Price: $310

    Sizing

I am 9C on a Brannock, with low volume and low instep. Many shoes fit me in 8.5D, providing there is enough room for my toes. Here is my sizing in some different brands:

  • Alden Barrie last: 8.5C or 8D
  • Alden Trubalance last: 8.5B
  • Viberg 1035 last: 7.5 (2030 has insufficient toe room)
  • Red Wing 8 last (Beckman): 7.5
  • Carmina Rain, Forest, & Oscar lasts: UK7.5
  • Sperry Top-Sider boat shoe: 9M
  • Asics running shoes: 9.5

I was able to find RTW Quoddy Boat Moc II in a local shop, and 8.5D in those fit me well when wearing thin socks.

I exchanged emails with Elizabeth at Quoddy, and gave her all of the above info. She recommended 8.5D for their boat shoes. The rule of thumb is to go down 1/2 size from Brannock, and get D width if you are width C through E.

    Shipping and Receiving

These were ordered on Feb 21. At that time, their web site estimated 8 weeks for delivery (it is currently 3-4 weeks). I received FedEx shipping notification on April 12, and the shoes arrived April 18.

They were well packed with a very nice shoe bag, but there was no Quoddy shoe box, which I thought was a bit cheap.

    First Impressions

These fit me perfectly either sockless or with thin socks. They have a slightly snugger fit than the Boat Moc II.

They have great arch support. The arch support feels like it is made from memory foam. The shoes required zero break-in.

These are my first handsewns. To my untrained eye, the quality is perfect. The stitching and seams are totally symmetric between both shoes. Leather quality looks excellent, and there has been only very minimal and tight creasing so far.

    I love these shoes!

I've been waiting all of my life for this moment. I thought noone would ever ask!

For years I searched for the best slipper. I've had good ones and bad ones over the years and learned what works and what doesn't. There is a perfect slipper, in my opinion. But before I tell you what it is, let's go over the criteria of what makes a good slipper.

  1. Moccasin format: this is debatable and up to the wearer's preference. I like the moccasin over say the Scuff style because it offers you just a little bit of adjustment should you need to tighten the laces. If the Scuff is too big, it's going to be annoying and try to slip off. And a correctly sized moc still slips on just as easily as the Scuff.

  2. Natural leather: the slipper upper must be made of a natural material for durability and so your foot can breathe. Leather won't tear easily and they also help to conform to the wearer's foot.

  3. MUST have a natural sheepskin lining: this is the most important item here if you are looking for a warm, winter slipper. An unlined slipper is fine for warmer weather (although I will wear sheepskin year round) but synthetic fiber linings are a no-no for cold feet. Here's why: they don't she'd moisture properly and they get matted and rough (think brillo pad). What this means is your feet sweat and stink horribly, and the lining becomes uncomfortable after a while. And let me tell you, once a pair of slippers stink, they will NEVER smell good again. They are as good as trash. Protip:you can make certain that you have natural sheepskin be plucking a hair and burning it. If it burns and stinks like burnt human hair, you're good. If it looks like it melts into a little ball, synthetic is what you have.

  4. Rubber sole must come up over the sides: this is important if the skippers will be used outside however brief the excursions might be. This gives you great protection from water. I've had slippers where there were little rubber skid pads on the bottom, and they got destroyed by water seeping up through the leather on the bottom.

The slipper that satisfies these criteria is the Old Friend Moccasin. It is extremely well built, the interior is plush, and it is comfortable as hell. Here is the link, but please make sure you read my slipper wearing tips below! I'm a Chestnut man myself, but the dark brown is positively regal in its own right.

    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0029U2Z8Y/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_qIhJub0H774ZE

    Slipper wearing tips:

  5. Have a clean/sockless pair of slippers and a dirty/socked pair of slippers: I have two sets of slippers. The old friend I wear only after a shower and without socks, and a cheaper unlined scuff variety that I wear with dirty socked feet. This is absolutely key for keeping your good slippers smelling nice. With clean dry feet, the sheepskin lined types should never get stinky unless you have a preexisting fungal issue. Also, skipping the socks with lined slippers will keep the sheepskin fluffy, soft and plush longer. But you still want to put a pair of slippers on after work, no? That's why you have the second pair. Keep the dirty sweaty socked feet in one set, and the clean dry ones in the other.

  6. NEVER EVER cross contaminate your slippers! Going from the dirty pair to the clean pair or putting the clean pair on immediately after a long day in shoes will surely stink up your expensive, nice slippers in no time. And again, once they stink you might as well throw them out. This applies to shoes as well. Pick one pair of shoes and wear them for the day, if you need to change just do a quick foot wash. I could go on and on about proper foot cleaning, but that's for another post. I'll say this, you've never had clean feet until you've used an EasyFeet. Yes it's an ASOTV product, but it's a miracle device.

  7. Once your feet become noticeably moist, take your slippers off for a bit. This is usually after about 4 hour for me. It's important to let the slippers dry out after becoming a bit moist, otherwise you're on the runaway train to stink town.

Preface: This is going to be a long post, but I like oversharing/giving details.

I've only started to GAF about how I look/what I wear this year, it's been a very "informative" process. Wish I would've done this 10 years ago, but c'est la vie

I'm short + overweight (working on that though! Have a personal trainer, down 20lbs so far, still a ways to go, but progress is being made!) so any type of style has always been a struggle. EVERYTHING needs to be altered, especailly pants. I work in IT, dress code is business casual (most days its pants/shirt, occasionally jeans/polo, etc), although I've always trended closer to the business side of business casual.

In the past, I always went through a Harbaugh-inspired routine of having a set standard template that didn't require much thought: of Black Pants (Eddie Bauer), Black Socks, Black Belt, Black Shoes, and then just "mix it up" with different shirts (CT Non-Irons). My main concern was to avoid any type of faux-pas, better to play it safe and consistent.

Frustrated at myself, kinda hitting a midlife crisis this past winter, I decided to revamp everything. Reading a ton on MFA, GQ, MensXP, AoM, etc, got a crapload of conflicting info, and decided just to dive into it - I've tried to develop some sort of sense of style, I do know that I prefer quality/classics over trendy, and I thought the "good" brands would help me stick out some. Clothes, Shoes, Watches --> tried to improve it all.

This is what my "Wardrobe" now consists of, 90% is less than year old. any gaps/comments would be appreciated - Plus, as I lose weight, it's giving me opportunities to get new clothes, so always looking for new things. I'd proably like to have fewer but BETTER clothes, if I could do it over again.

u/CARTERsauce · 1 pointr/malefashionadvice

The only link you provided that I approve of are the Sperry Top-Siders. I found the Ice to be very versatile and the solid black have recieved compliments as they aren't very common. Both versatile. Good with shorts and could even be formal enough for a summer wedding. Oatmeal, Sahara/Brown Buc Brown for a basic, well, brown.

For a watch I'll make a few personal suggestions. Of course, the Timex Easy Reader, Brown & Black. Bonus: Black face. This Seiko for a silver watch and I like this black Citizen Eco Drive as well.

Get some basic chino's in a good slim fit like the Dockers Alpha Khaki and some basic flat front shorts from Patagonia.

American Apparel for some staples. Cut down on your graphic tee's and get some plain stuff! I really like the Tri-Blend 50/25/25 Track Shirt for tee's, so comfortable. The black is actually a really dark grey, because of the nature of 'the blend', I really like it and it matches these dark grey twill plimsolls I have perfectly. They have great thin sweaters and cardigans too, browse what's available on Amazon, go on their website to see better images and what else they offer.

I don't mean to totally disregard your choices, I'm just showing you some items that I like, some good basics, and that's all I can muster before I head to bed.

Also, are you sure you're really a 32 inch waist at 6ft 150lbs?

u/Herra_Ratatoskr · 1 pointr/amiugly

Thanks. Shoe wise my main pair is a set of these, although it's an older model that doesn't have that button/strip thing in the top center. I've taken pretty good care of them, and they still look pretty good with jeans, I've found. I've also got a pair of brown hiking boots I wear when it's wet or snowy out. Or when I go hiking. Also, a pair of cheapo runners that I don't wear much anymore (probably just use them when I work out). The boots you linked too are cool, but the strap on them seems a bit too flashy for me. I don't really want to be too attention grabbing; I guess I'd describe my ideal style as "refined simplicity", if that makes sense. I tend to prefer solid colors or simple patterns, and would prefer to find ways to look good through smart color combinations and good fit.

Having a styling buddy would be kind of cool, but I wonder how exactly that would work. Would I just PM you pictures or something? In any event, thanks for the offer, and for taking the time to come back and comment!

u/Jedibrad · 2 pointsr/frugalmalefashion

Personally, I would bring three pairs of shoes:

  1. Brown or Burgundy Dress Shoes (for fancy meals or excursions)
  2. Comfortable White Sneakers (for general use)
  3. Water-Resistant Sandals (for poolside / beachside wear)

You have a lot of options for #1. Stafford Wingtips have been on sale for ~$35 recently, and they would definitely fit the bill. They lean casual, but you shouldn't be in any situations where truly formal shoes are required. You just need something that will get you into places with dress codes, and these will serve that purpose.

You also have a wide variety of options for #2; Vans Canvas Authentics, Chucks, Stan Smiths, etc. would all work great. Make sure you get something that's comfortable to walk around in for a few hours at a time; if your feet can't handle chucks, they might not be a good choice.

For #3, you could try a pair of Tevas, provided they work with your style. If you're not going to be around too much water, you could get some Rainbows instead. You could also bring some Espadrilles (option #2), if you like the style. They might take a while to dry if you get them wet, but they're lightweight and packable, so you could easily take them along if you wanted to. As /u/blargleblaggo said, boat shoes would also be a good choice; look into Sebago Docksides as another option. Or, you could pick up some cheap-ass flip-flops on Amazon. Your choice.

No matter what shoes you end up taking, all of your bases should be covered. :)
u/fatbottomedgirls · 1 pointr/malefashionadvice

Well you're going to have to thrift much of this outfit most likely. Grey dress pants are all over the racks at most thrift stores. Just find something that fits you in the waist and is 100% wool, a wool/silk blend, or a wool/linen blend. Should cost you 15 bucks max. Take them to a tailor to have them hemmed and probably slimmed and tapered as most are going to be very baggy. Those alterations will probably cost around 30 bucks. Grab a slim dress shirt from Uniqlo or Express; they're not good quality but they'll get you through this wedding a few more events. A casual knit tie from tie bar will run you $15 bucks. I would grab a belt from Costco; I think they're about 15 bucks and they're full grain leather. Men's Wearhouse also sells inexpensive full grain leather belts for pretty cheap as well. You can pick up a pair of Bass Weejuns loafers for $50-$75 at many stores; just make sure you get the ones with leather soles.

You should really also have a jacket, even if you take it off immediately after the ceremony. That's another $10-$15 thrift item. Just about anything not grey would do fine. Even old jackets with very wide lapels don't look bad as long as the gorges aren't too low.

Substitute any of the new stuff I listed with thrift store pickups if you happen to come across them.

That should get you in the ballpark of $150

Looking for advice on:

  • Shoes: I would like the max range to be $100, I don't go out too much since I work at home but I would like a shoes that's everyday use. For example I love these Merrels and these Clarks, they're lasting me for 4 years now but the Merrels are losing their color and would like to get a new pair. Any recomendation BIFL?

I also go the gym 5 days a week to do lifting workouts (PPLx2), and looking to change my cheap shoes, I tend to walk a long distance from my house to the gym, any recomendation here as well?

Don't wear anything that causes you to worry about coming off as pretentious. That said, I wore wingtips and oxfords to high school at least twice a week.

If you have a preppier style, try adding penny loafers to your collection. Bass makes the canonical loafer in your price range. I have had good luck with Cole Haan for more colorful shoes like loafers and saddle shoes, but post-Nike aquisition their quality has gone downhill. If you can find any of their shoes without Air in the name, they should be fine quality-wise for the price, but be wary of the newer models.

White or tan bucks also make a good spring/summer shoe. Get them nice and dirty and they only look slightly pretentious at high school. Bass again has nice options in your price range.

The one you described is either the Sahara or Amaretto I think.

I personally own a pair of Saharas, and they are definitely the most versatile colorway Sperry releases. They go with literally any color short, and look great both new and broken in and dirty.

Earlier today I also figured I would get another pair since I bought my current ones a year ago and would like to mix it up perhaps a bit more this summer. I ended up going down to either Burnished Brown Tan, Tan, or Navy. The one thing I liked about these was the white sole - I thought it gave a really cool accent.

My problem with the navy is that it seems they use a different leather. If you look at the picture closely it looks must more textured than the others.

The tan to me looked too much like the Sahara just with a white sole.

So I settled on the Dark burnished brown one. The price just dropped recently which helped me settle on it as well.

All in all, the sperrys I see the most are Saharas. The second most I see are burnished brown and tan. I do see a lot of Oatmeals too, so any of these I would consider "in" right now.

How's the fit on Sperry Topsiders, true-to-size or do you guys recommend sizing up/down? Most Amazon users report they're TTS. How much does this leather stretch, enough to size down half a size? Thanks.

He means classics as in something like these. Ronnie Fieg is a authority in the sneaker collab world. You can get wide new balances directly from the web site. Additionally, if you're willing to pay a premium, you can make a pair of nike flyknit lunar 2s and buy them in a wide width with free returns. I would say look for shoes with a 2e width, which is the next width size up, instead of d width.

Quick edit: you can also get sperry's in a wide width, which should fit you. chippewa boots are also available in wide sizes.

Merrell Jungle Mocs They fit perfect, offer tons of comfy support, and last forever.

Not sure if you're willing to consider a third option, but after killing countless boat shoes I can say that docksides hold up the best by miles and also, to my eye, look just as good or better.

Maybe get leather bottoms and get some rubber overshoes for the bad weather?

https://www.amazon.com/Tingley-Rubber-Moccasin-Mens/dp/B000HHQ8V6/ref=mp_s_a_1_fkmrnull_1?crid=7G0VD8PCI4J0&keywords=tingley+moccasin&qid=1550754829&s=gateway&sprefix=tingley+mocc&sr=8-1-fkmrnull

Leather bottoms are dressier looking for sure.

Also, make sure you measure your feet with socks on if you are going to buy online and not try on in store.

I love my Fifths. Close to as dressy as the Parks with the small brouging strip. I’d agree they go with anything.

I have heard from others that rubber soles make the shoe stiffer.

Just a heads up, Amazon has the same pair here for less money and they have a pretty good return policy.

u/ilovemyjokes · 2 pointsr/malefashionadvice

Bass makes some pretty good penny loafers at their price point. Sebago too.

I have a gift card to a store and the only thing I really was interested in there were these. Thoughts?

Mine are in Dark Brown (Didn't want the rough). I've kept mine for 5 years so far and they're great.

u/Polaaar · 1 pointr/malefashionadvice

Fine. Preppy. I would recommend Sebago or Sperrys instead though. If you're looking for that exact color I would suggest tan Sebagos.

u/Monk3y19 · 2 pointsr/frugalmalefashion

yea i'm going to have to agree with skmt on this. these look like a bad hybrid of loafers and boat shoes. you're better off picking up a pair of sebago's/sperry's boat shoes on sale or some penny loafers.

u/kbeano · 1 pointr/malefashionadvice

Sebago Docksides are a good Sperry alternative, and in my experience, will last longer than Sperrys. Depending on your shoe size/the color you want, you can get a pair for around $60-$65.

u/Filnamos · 2 pointsr/malefashionadvice

I'd up the shoegame.

Get some nice suede loafers or boat shoes

u/Digestivess · 1 pointr/malefashionadvice

Not sure if you consider Sperry 'well made' but sometimes they're not too expensive on Amazon, I got a pair for £41 on there a few weeks ago. Keep a look out as the price changes regularly.

Here and here.

Cordovan penny loafers (damn, I sound like a broken record). I bet you can find some Bass Logans for <$75.

They won't work with black pants, but will work very well with anything else.

u/Jeremiah_Guy · 2 pointsr/malefashionadvice

I'm 95% sure those are just sperrys.

u/craymond123 · 2 pointsr/malefashionadvice

These Nylite Canvas shoes

As well these Sebago loafers

And I am looking for some olive chinos to cop.

u/itsonlyastrongbuzz · 10 pointsr/NavyBlazer

Maybe I'm an insane person, but sandals.

If you're wearing dress shoes, then "Galoshes" to wear over them. (Not sure if that term is regional or not, but that's what my dad wore over his penny loafers in rain/slush.)

u/Viviparous · 2 pointsr/malefashionadvice

None of those. Ugly contrast stitching on all of them

Go for a classic

Sperry Top-Sider Men's A/O 2 Eye Boat Shoe,Tan,11 M US https://www.amazon.com/dp/B006MX5WGQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_qxaPBbPEKYWDY

I got these a few months back, I didn’t realize they were “no tie” because the picture shows real lacing. But they’re “no tie”.

u/V33G33 · 2 pointsr/frugalmalefashion

Sebago Docksides are also a common suggestion in that price range.

u/jdbee · 2 pointsr/malefashionadvice

Where are you seeing them for $120-160? You can get CDBs on Amazon for just over $90, and regular retail price on Top-siders is only $90. They're also less than $70 on Amazon.

I use a combination of Google shopping and retailmenot.com when I'm looking for low prices and coupon codes. When the planets align, you can find something on sale and a discount/free shipping code for the site.
