I have a Note 9 and use the iOttie 4 on my dash with a 1 foot cable to reach the right DC outlet. I leave it set up horizontally for Waze or Torque, kinda like this.

I'll try to get an actual picture of the setup for you.

*Edit: here's what it looks like in my truck.

Try iOttie mounts, they are really good

I use the iOttie One Touch dash mount. It's available on Amazon for about $25. The suction cup mint really works well, even on slight curves and textured surfaces.

Re: my accident, I was driving in the curb lane, going straight through a green light, when the other driver was obscured behind a van on the left lane, making an illegal right turn across two lanes of traffic from the center (left turn/merge only) lane. Prime example of why being a "nice guy" and letting someone make a dumb turn in front of you (like the van was doing that day) isn't really a nice thing to do at all. If he would've just kept driving like he was supposed to, the other car would've seen me and I would've seen them, and there wouldn't have been a crash.

iOttie Easy One Touch

I have 2 of these, one in each vehicle. Best mount I've ever used.

Cannot recommend this one enough. Easy to move between cars. It works on windows AND textured dashboards. Fits most phones.

I have owned one of these since I bought my 2010 (in 2013). I recommend them to everyone and bought them for 3 friends. The long reach works really well with the Fit's long dash; I've got mine about finger distance from my steering wheel #safetyfirst #handsonthewheel

I was looking at This one. Looks to have a little more range

I have a Mous case. But I use a ProClip phone holder in my car, so I don’t have the magnet issue. Previously, I also used it with an iOttie OneTouch which worked well too. I have a Spigen Edge to Edge Screen Protector with it. You can’t even tell its there, since the case covers up the sides and the bezels.

Yeah, they usually have a small battery but it's only enough to record for a very short time.

Would something like this solve the problem?

Or if you have a smartphone, why not get a mount and start using google maps? That would free up the port

A lot of shit has been given over you trying to ask a serious question. Welcome to the internet. A ridesharing driver starter kit should have the following items:

  1. A decent dashcam with front and back cameras. I run one of these that I've modified for a better, infrared interior camera.

  2. A damn good phone mount, such as this
    https://www.amazon.com/iOttie-Dashboard-Windshield-Samsung-Smartphone/dp/B076B27WP6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1523381791&sr=8-1&keywords=iottie+one+touch

  3. 6 port high-amp USB car charger
    https://www.amazon.com/Jelly-Comb-Lightning-Identification-Technology/dp/B0141Y4IRG

  4. 6 foot lightning and 6 foot micro-usb charger cables

  5. Hand sanitizer pump bottle

  6. That ozinium stuff everybody's endorsing around here.

  7. Vomit bags

    Optional Upgrade: Upholstery cleaner

Your real challenge would be to make these hundreds of dollars worth of items worth the markup you'll need to charge to save new drivers from spending 20 minutes on Amazon and getting it cheaper.

I use this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B076B27WP6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It has never dropped my phone and the mount has not moved since I bought it 4 months ago.

This has been my favorite so far after owning a dozen or so mounts.. the mount is crutial to hold up for me also being a rideshare driver. This one hasn't failed.
I mount it on the silver plastic above the right driver side vent, has a nice location just near the center to the ridght of of the steering wheel. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B076B27WP6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_hE8PCb1H3H6HW

Sorry, you asked for a dash mount and I was thinking on top of the dash and not at the vent.

Any windshield or sticky dash mount should work. The 3XL is a big phone and the camera should be passed the mount.

I use and like this kind.

Are you trying to use it as a dash cam?

I have the previous version and its worked great in every condition. About 2 years in I had to re-wet the base to get it to stick to the pad, but thats it.

u/marxhadarobinhood · 1 pointr/wallstreetbets

Do you guys have any car phone mounts you'd recommend? I have one of these and it's fuckin awful, my phone's flown out of it so many times.

u/ChipotleGains · 1 pointr/iphone

I have this one, been using it daily for 2 years now, holds the phone very snug and the one touch feature works perfectly!

I got a mount like this:https://www.amazon.com/iOttie-Dashboard-Windshield-Samsung-Smartphone/dp/B076B27WP6/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?keywords=iphone+dash+mount&qid=1563811807&s=gateway&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1 (which I think is the one you just ordered)

It was the sturdiest, most articulated one I could find. In the winter I stick the pad on the dash, to the left of that upper display, so that the phone is above the vent there. Right now it's too hot to do that, my phone gets too hot in the sun. If I lower it to the vent it's blocked by/in the way of the wiper lever. So, I have the pad stuck on that flat part in front of the upper display, but as far right as it can go (so it doesn't block my view of the backup camera). Then I moved the mount's arm to the right so that the back of my phone catches some AC, and swivel the phone to face me.

I know it's complicated but it's the best solution I've found, nothing else works very well. I haven't had any trouble with the suction cup.

u/feature_peter · 1 pointr/subaruimpreza

This is what I use: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B076B27WP6?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

It's great, no residue, sticks to plastic great. I actually just replaced the previous gen that lasted 3 years.

u/SkiRek · 1 pointr/Minneapolis

Good on ya. Thanks for reading. Stay safe out there. Here are some good docks that aren't expensive if you're looking to buy.

One with a suction cup
One that fits on a vent

I use https://www.amazon.com/iOttie-Dashboard-Windshield-Samsung-Smartphone/dp/B076B27WP6?tag=androidcentralb-20&ascsubtag=UUacUdUnU70464YYwYg with my Pixel 3XL, super easy to set up and use and it's had no problem's with the weight of my phone or anything
