nah i got one of these
easy to insert and remove my device, and i also get to listen to my podcasts.
I run in the rain, unless it’s heavy downpour that would create dangerous conditions or poor visibility. Caution and keeping my eyes on what’s in front of me is how I prevent slipping. I generally slow down a tad bit too. Having good shoes with tread that’s not worn too thin is also helpful.
Ziplock bags, the water proof phone cases they sell for vacations on amazon, or the arm bands that the phone goes inside are good waterproof options

I would recommend getting a grifgrips patch or something similar.
I personally keep my receiver in a waterproof bag, something like this: https://smile.amazon.com/Universal-Waterproof-JOTO-CellPhone-Samsung/dp/B00LBK7OSY/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1519062800&sr=8-3&keywords=waterproof+phone+pouch.
Also, at least in my experience, when I am submerged in water, the receiver doesn't receive information from the transmitter very often, if at all. So I always make sure I have my meter, too.

I have one of these. Throw my phone, ID, and one CC in and hang it around my neck. You can take pictures through it and use your phone while it's inside. Haven't found a downside yet.
What about one of those waterproof bags for your phone & car key?
Like this
OR a hard case and carabiner like this
Don't leave anything in the car you wouldn't want stolen. Either leave it at home or carry it with you. Lots of theft around here.
Unfortunately no. Only option is bag-style cases like this: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00LBK7OSY/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
You can try what I did while filming underwater. Get a pouch, I have similar to this one: Amazon and it works great.
Start filming out of the water and then submerge. It will stay recording without problems.
You can use volume rockers to take photos underwater or to take photos while recording.
EDIT: I found mine, I have YOSH brand, it is just perfect. I bought it after intensive research about underwater cases of all kinds. Here it is on eBay
those cases will be heavy and bulky af. just use those water proof bags like this one. I got one since iphone 4 and it still works perfect now(it's easy to tell when it stops working).

One of these has always worked well for me while rafting
As far as phones go, I have a few of these. I've taken my phone with me every time I've gone boarding, and I even used that bag to go snorkling and use my phone's camera underwater in Belize. When I used to push into the ocean from the beach with my board I'd have several waves hitting me and waist-high water, so the phone would always be submerged for that duration, and I've never had the bag fail. I DO test it regularly. You can never test a dry bag enough!!
For my camera, I'm testing out this bag before seeing if I need a better/more expensive type. Today was really successful! Definitely have to finagle a bit and have your settings at least close to where you think you'll want them the whole time, but overall it was a success! I would NOT take this bag underwater though. I would invest in an actual hard underwater case for that. But since I don't actually ever intend on the bag getting more than just a little wet from splashes or my hands, it works great.
Since I like to snorkel I bought a waterproof bag to keep cell phone, ship's card, some cash, passport, and a credit card in when going ashore. This way I could always keep my stuff on me even when I'm in the water. It's so nice to have everything you need hanging around your neck and not have to worry about losing it or it going missing when you're not paying attention. I bought this one and it has served me very well but there are lots out there to choose from.
I got you man. :)
I'm sure there are better ones though, that was me doing 2 seconds of shopping around.
You'll want a dedicated waterproof mp3 player because the Bluetooth in your phone only has a range of about 10m. If you still want your phone poolside, just get one of these.
I don't know what your budget is, but I've used these and they're pretty great. Snug fit, doesn't come off from water resistance, and audio quality is good.
a few things to remember:
to be safe, you could consider using a waterproof case like this.
I think you'll struggle to find a pfd with a waterproof pocket.
Even if you find one I would suggest doing what others say and getting a small waterproof pouch to put in your pfd pocket because the waterproof part would probably wear out way before the rest of the pfd, so better to be able to replace it separately for a few dollars.
Also the most important party of a pfd is how comfortable it is, better to be able to shop for one based on that than based on if it has a waterproof pocket.
I use something like this, but not this one exactly: https://www.amazon.com/Universal-Waterproof-JOTO-Cellphone-Samsung/dp/B00LBK7OSY/
https://www.amazon.com/JOTO-Universal-Waterproof-Cellphone-Samsung/dp/B00LBK7OSY/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=4NT7OXEL7ZTA&keywords=waterproof+phone+pouch&qid=1554438696&s=gateway&sprefix=water+proof+phone+%2Caps%2C201&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1
A waterproof case for his phone. This is the one I have and love it.
Get one of these and just put your cards/cash and phone in here.
Thanks. I was ready to purchase it and then saw this review
I checked out the Joto one and it did look very similar, which gives some credence to what this guy says.
The problem is that some people on the bag you mentioned complained about water damage, while no one on the Joto bag has thus far.
I am now very worried and am beginning to forget about submerging the phone under water all together. Last thing I want is to damage it.
thoughts? is this 'purchasing review' an actual practice on Amazon?
A phone in a water proof case is exactly what I do. I have a clear waterproof pouch that I put my phone in and a makeshift mount made of a large binder clip with large bolts zip tied to the arms. You can adjust the angle of the shot by moving the arms. The bolts weigh the phone down and act as feet so your phone stays upright.
I find that the front facing camera works best because it's a wider angle and you can see your shot as you adjust your phone on the bottom of the pool.
Yep!:)

Depends on how much you want to spend. Lifeproof makes some waterproof cases that I see people rave about on this subreddit. I personally took something like this to Hawaii. They're okay. My phone stayed dry but the pictures it took weren't super clear, probably because the plastic material obstructs the camera. Definitely not good to publish but definitely good enough to have a nice memory of it. I would recommend buying a more sturdy lanyard to go with it.
I think he means something like this
Some float and others won't depending on what you want
You could try getting a waterproof case to put your phone and credit cards in, I just bought this one
I've been putting my phone into the bladder slot/pocket inside of one of these: http://amzn.com/B00LBK7OSY
Granted you can't access your phone easily but it gives great peace of mind without having to keep something on your waist.
I use this when I think I am going near water-
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00LBK7OSY/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_dp_ss_1?pf_rd_p=1944687702&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B008Y57OP2&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=1429AKKF3QNFV2Q3P6Z9
I am not a skier, and this would not do anything for impact. However, the lanyard on mine is sturdy and I tie it to the key loop ring in my bag so if it does fall out, it doesnt fall far. There is risk of loss/damage once taken out to use it.
I use this when I go kayaking and haven't had any problems. There are a bunch of other brands that basically sell the same thing
No, nowhere to lock things up. Leave almost everything in your hotel room. Get waterproof cases or dry bags for phone, room key, cash, etc. If you leave it on the beach, count on it being stolen. Something like this https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00LBK7OSY/ref=pd_aw_sim_200_1?ie=UTF8&dpID=41A3a0xk9xL&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL100_SR100%2C100_&psc=1&refRID=JXB5K8C8ERA52R9K47AF
The only place I've seen with lockers is Hanauma Bay and that's not in Waikiki.
Maybe something like this for the ereader?
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00LBK7OSY/ref=psdcmw_9375358011_t1_B008Y57OP2
I ordered one of these and got a sensor. I'll let you know how it turns out.
You can get one of those universal dry bags. Or a Ziplock bag?
I'd go for a pouch like this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00LBK7OSY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_4q3GzbMHJE90N
Something that seals around the phone but you can still use the touch screen. Bulky but it probably won't matter in a kayak, has a lanyard too. Also isn't specific to a single phone.
If you only care about water, keep it in your normal everyday case and then put it in something like this:
http://www.amazon.com/JOTO-Universal-Waterproof-Snowproof-BlackBerry/dp/B00LBK7OSY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1452893768&sr=8-1&keywords=cell+phone+dry+bag
Not at all a silly question! I asked the exact same thing almost a year ago and this subreddit gave me the suggestion to get one of these: https://www.amazon.com/Universal-Waterproof-JOTO-CellPhone-Motorola/dp/B00LBK7OSY/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1482528338&sr=8-5&keywords=dry+bags+iphone. Worked great - and we were highly amused by another young couple on St. Thomas that got into a big argument, pointing and yelling at us, about why they hadn't thought to do this and the husband was now stuck in the water with one hand overhead at all times to hold up his phone.
Concerning the waterproof phone case, we used a case that was more of a waterproof pouch like this. It is clear on both sides so you can use the camera on it and still see what you're doing as well.
As for waterproof-ness, my phone was perfectly dry and I dove down to at least 10-15 feet to get some video. The only issue I have with it is the water will interact with the screen through the case (as it is touch sensitive.) If you take a video underwater, it may do some weird things like random zooming.
Water proof phone bag.
It has enough room for the phone plus some money and IDs. I like to put a slip knot in the neck band so that I can tighten it around my neck so the waves cant pull it off me, hasn't happened yet.
You know any phone can be taken in the bath if you have 10 bucks right
https://www.amazon.com/Universal-Waterproof-JOTO-Cellphone-Samsung/dp/B00LBK7OSY
You could, as long as your water is of reasonable temperature. I wouldn't recommend getting soap on it though since it leaves dirty marks on your screen.
For an extra layer of protection, get a beach bag for it (something like this). You can still use the touchscreen through it (though not fingerprint ID), and it will protect your phone from smudges
https://smile.amazon.com/Universal-Waterproof-JOTO-CellPhone-Motorola/dp/B00LBK7OSY
I have used this myself to paddleboard, and I have fallen into the water with it in my pocket a couple times - works wonders.
These are cheap and work.
I got a cheap waterproof case and taped some rare earth magnets to the inside. The lanyard wraps around the steering column and magnets hold it to the tank. Works with my gloves that are also touch enabled.
I believe it was this one: https://www.amazon.com/Universal-Waterproof-JOTO-Cellphone-Samsung/dp/B00LBK7OSY/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1523766098&sr=8-4&keywords=phone+waterproof+bag
That does look interesting indeed, I like that it doesn't require batteries.
But I just thought of another possible idea, maybe putting any regular smart button inside of a waterproof pouch / dry bag. Does that seem like a viable idea? Not sure if those things would hold up in daily usage.
Waterproof cellphone case: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00LBK7OSY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_vGfGxb9MB5NW6
I don't know about it being badass. But this is the only type there is to waterproof a device. With a pouch. https://www.amazon.com/Universal-Waterproof-JOTO-CellPhone-Motorola/dp/B00LBK7OSY/ref=pd_sim_107_7?ie=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B00LBK7OSY&pd_rd_r=6YKFAT85B7Q37D05JVRM&pd_rd_w=ObjdM&pd_rd_wg=qcAII&psc=1&refRID=6YKFAT85B7Q37D05JVRM
All other "waterproof" shells or cases might be water resistant at best since they recommend against submersion. I guess, just being able to use your device underwater is badass enough, right?
Phone bags
I have one of these
Universal Waterproof Case, JOTO CellPhone Dry Bag Pouch for Apple iPhone 6S 6,6S Plus,7 SE 5S, Samsung Galaxy S7, S6 Note 5 4, HTC LG Sony Nokia Motorola up to 6.0" diagonal -Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00LBK7OSY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_5J.EybSY693RE
May not be what you're looking for because it is a little harder to type with these on, but I used mine on a tubing trip down a river as well as every time I use my hot tub. I figured with the price difference between a LifeProof and that it may be worth a peek!
Maybe look at getting something like this. https://www.amazon.com/Universal-Waterproof-JOTO-CellPhone-Motorola/dp/B00LBK7OSY/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1485498205&sr=8-3&keywords=waterproof+bag+for+phone
What about a waterproof pouch case?
