I've got some tiny friends, if you're short here's what you do...

Go a little early and find a spot with something behind you like the soundbooth/PA/etc. Then you won't get moved around when the crowd rushes forward and you've got a secure spot. Find/bring some stuff to stand on. It's easy to grab a couple couple cardboard boxes from the vendor and layer them on top of each other and its stable. You only need a 5" platform to make you 6'. I've also seen people bust out folding stools like this...

http://www.amazon.com/Home-quality-Folding-adults-Inches/dp/B00II67DVW/ref=pd_sim_sbs_196_1?ie=UTF8&dpID=51AadUdMwdL&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL160_SR160%2C160_&refRID=0W1KTTP24ZJX8PKPRYXV

Basically: Find a protected area and stand on some shit (by the sound booth is your best bet and its a good view, great sound)

u/ok_kat · 5 pointsr/toddlers

The answer is a learning tower like this!!! There are lots of different versions, but they all have some sort of railing to make sure they don't fall/step off of the platform. Most also have adjustable platforms so that you can lower it as they grow taller. My son is now 30 mo, but we've been using a tower since around 22 months. He absolutely loves it, and helps me cook and/or wash dishes every night, with the added benefit that he eats a ton of veggie odds and ends while we're working!

These things come in a range of prices, but I found most seemed to be too expensive. There are woodworking patterns that you can download for free, and if you've got a drill and a bit of skill you can make one yourself for cheaper. Ours isn't too pretty, but we were able to build it for ~ $50 worth of materials.

u/minisnoo · 2 pointsr/toddlers

So, it's a bit expensive but we got a stool like this and it was so worth it for us. My 20 month old loves it. Loves being able to help at the counter, play at the sink, watch me make something, look out the window, etc. We use it daily!

u/genreand · 3 pointsr/blogsnark

You are not a bad anything and I don’t mean screaming! Orchestrate the environment so that she can safely open any drawer that she can reach and let her do so. Cleaning up after the fact is a bit of a pain, but think of it as an investment in her ability to interact with her environment (which is really what solo independent play is). As she learns to do it close to you she will eventually be able to go play with her toys nearby. (Pro tip: move the aluminum foil out of her reach, the sheer waste, my god!) You don’t have to do anything but give her the opportunity—and clean up in the short term. My walker is now 18 mo and will do some of the cleaning up herself.

With that said, and this is advice you didn’t ask for, so ignore it if it’s unwanted, we bought this foldable learning tower that I often slide over to the counter so my toddler can bang a spoon on a cutting board while I prep for dinner. If you want her to feel included while you’re cooking that might be a good answer? It doesn’t work for independent play but if it makes you more comfortable with juggling what you need to juggle it might be worth it.

u/DanielleMuscato · 2 pointsr/Guitar

There ARE specialized chairs for playing, but frankly MANY chairs can work, and those specialized ones tend to be really expensive.

A lot of people use 2-foot-tall bar stools. Fender and other companies make them. They are anywhere from about $50 to $100 for a nice, tall, vinyl-covered padded one. You can get these at like Guitar Center etc. This type of stool is also what Guitar Center provides out on the store floor for people to sit on while they try out guitars & amps:

http://www.musiciansfriend.com/lifestyle/fender-24-bar-stool

I usually practice 4-6 hours a day and do it in 1 of 2 places:

Usually, I actually sit quite low on the ground, on a plastic Rubbermaid stepstool. I've been using this same one for many years. Here's a pic:

http://i.imgur.com/RR3MDJS.jpg

I cross my legs in front of me, "Indian style," but sitting on a stool rather than directly on the floor allows me to keep better posture. Being close to the ground keeps me at ear level for my amps, and also makes it really easy to program settings on my floorboard or adjust settings on my amp, as they are within arms' reach.

If I'm not practicing there, I usually practice on my piano bench:

http://i.imgur.com/Y7iom3h.jpg

This is useful for practice sessions when I'm working on theory concepts or ear training (using the piano), or if I'm doing sight-reading or learning new material and need the built-in music stand.

u/Green_Bike · 2 pointsr/Parenting

There's a big difference between preschool toilets and regular toilets. A regular toilet won't really help her like the preschool toilets except for getting used to the flush. Don't push your home toilet for several weeks. In fact, the more you push, the more she is likely to resist. She is little. A little potty makes sense for her.

We had a seat like your link and didn't use it too much. I carried it to the park for a while, but now I just hold her while she perches on the edge of any toilet without a child seat.

We have two step stools and I wouldn't want to be without either. This one has two steps so she can easily ascend and descend even when she's really gotta go, and this one folds up small and is a little higher so she can reach the sink.

Good luck!

u/UndergroundPhoenix · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

For all your short people needs, here is a fabulous stepstool for only $13. No more jumping to try and reach things. No more asking your tall friends to come over and bring something down for you. No more climbing haphazardly unstable furniture. This stepstool will provide a stable, comfortable, height advantage to make all your needs come true. And lucky 13 a number worth more than leprechaun gold!

u/IM_ALiiive · 2 pointsr/short

If you're

getting blank T-shirts buy a variety from Amazon, you'll find a much better variety than at stores and once you find on that fits they'll have better variety. Also they have a generous return policy. This especially helpful if you're big(muscular or fat) and short I have a hard time finding shirts that fit me in the shoulder but aren't too long. Also at least for men's clothing I've never bought the kids version of anything but belts since the fit is always terrible.

Also grab one of those plastic folding step stools they're perfect for getting that extra 6-12in but are actually quick enough to setup that you'll actually use them.

Also If your buying boots you can watch online manufacturers for clearance they have periodically for their biggest and smallest shoe sizes.

Car LPT buy japanese, they're made for shorter people.

My secret for jumping more higher is big quads.

u/alydalf · 2 pointsr/toddlers

We have this one . It has been great so far for my son. He turns 3 in a few days and his grandparents bought it as an early birthday present. I went back and forth for about a year as to whether we needed one. Space is kind of tight in our kitchen and there weren’t a lot of places he could use it without being in the way of drawers and cabinets. About 2 months ago he decided he just HAD to eat at the counter and chose a collapsible step stool to drag over there. But that wasn’t very safe because he would not be careful as toddlers often aren’t. I like the one we have because the profile is slimmer than many others and the step up can be folded in if you need the floor clearance. Since it arrived he’s eaten 90% of meals on it, whoch has been fine because family sit downs are rare for us right now with a 4 month old as well. He has also started “helping” me cook now that he is at a proper height to really reach things on our high counters.

u/schorhr · 2 pointsr/telescopes

> (which is why adjustable-height observing chairs are sold, but I haven't justified the cost yet).

For some reason, there is not one $20 ironing chair in the entire US :-)

Slightly off-topic, has anyone tried one of these for the AWB/Heritage/z130/mini130? Too wobbly?

  • Amazon; Foldable-Step-Stool 2

The Ikea Bekväm is rock-solid, still more compact than my EQ2, great to observe with on my fishing stool, but I am still looking for something back-packable.
u/WeAreNeverMeetingIRL · 22 pointsr/Parenting

What if your child "helped" with food prep? Stirring, pouring liquid and dry ingredients (with your muscles), mix salad ingredients, etc. I know it would be more work for you.

Something like this could help them watch food prep and be more involved. An engaged child is going to be more motivated to eat the meal they helped with. Also they can hear you say to others, enjoy/try this ---- that "child's name" made and then maybe they will try it too.

u/amelal · 2 pointsr/StrongCurves

Like you said, 10 inches probably isn't high enough to feel anything. A bench isn't your only option; you could get a sturdy folding chair or a taller stool like [this] (http://www.amazon.com/Rubbermaid-RM-P2-Non-Slip-300-Pound-Capacity/dp/B004Q0I2RS/ref=sr_1_cc_4?s=aps&ie=UTF8&qid=1452833651&sr=1-4-catcorr&keywords=step+stool). If you don't want to invest in something like that then you can always look in the index for other exercises to substitute.

u/Arsenycal · 2 pointsr/short

We have little LED lights inside low cupboards that make it easier for him to see things, while I have a collapsible step stool that fits perfectly between the fridge and the cabinets so it's not in the way.

u/zcam · 6 pointsr/ikeahacks

I built nearly the same (using that ikea item) and it's not needed imho, it's quite stable already (2yo using it daily). You might want to debur/soften the edges tho.

My daughter has been using it from 1yo; early on she struggled a bit to climb in it but it's fine after a few tries. After 2 she's started trying to sit on the bar (stopped now), so it becomes a bit short relatively quickly.

If I was to make another one I would go for something with an adjustable base like that one: https://www.amazon.com/Kidzwerks-Child-Standing-Tower-Adjustable/dp/B07BMN5YDS

u/k_tiara_von_lobster · 1 pointr/BabyBumps

My feet were so swollen a couple weeks ago. I've been propping my feet up on this foot stool at work, which helps. I figure it will double as a step stool to help Young Madam reach the sink or kitchen counter when the time comes.

Pokemon Go has also got me walking more (~10k steps/day), and I've been drinking about 70 ounces of water daily. With their powers combined my ankles have gone down from major cankles to ever so slightly puffy.

u/loves-lit · 3 pointsr/sanantonio

If you can’t make one or get someone to help you, maybe something like this would work.

We went with bigger ticket items that we knew she would need. For Christmas my 10 month old got car seats for both our cars because her infant seat wasn't a kind that transitioned. For first birthday not long after she got a kitchen helper used from craigslist. I recommend the kitchen helper so highly, she is 2.5 now and we still use it every day and will likely use it for several years to come.

u/Tsarena · 6 pointsr/moderatelygranolamoms

We bought this tower off amazon and have been pretty happy with it. It comes flat pack. We had talked about making our own, but this was going to be cheaper than buying the wood and tools required to make it. I second the Etsy recommendation. Search for Pikler triangle and you will get a bunch of options.

u/amalagg · 2 pointsr/HomeImprovement

Wife is 5'0". She bought this for herself for the kitchen: https://smile.amazon.com/Folding-Step-Stool-Lightweight-Bathroom/dp/B06VWPYPLP and she is happy. Folds away next to the refrigerator and out of the way when not in use

u/outnumbered41 · 1 pointr/DIY

I bought it a few years ago in a natural wood color, it does get a little slippery if the kids use it at the sick so I also put some none skid tub stickers on the platform part.

There are cheaper stools but I got this guy off Amazon and it is extremely sturdy and well made. Used it to get into my tall bed after a recent surgery when climbing up that high (okay, it's not THAT high but I'm short) was difficult. Kept it after I was feeling better because it's just convenient.

Closest thing I've found

My ex had one. Almost bought it for one of my shorter friends at work.

u/NatalieMac · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I use this one under my desk and it works great. It's not collapsible, but it's very lightweight.

u/ShadowL42 · 1 pointr/bdsm

I have issues kneeling also but for me it is nerve related and not being able to bend my joints that far anymore. I cant do futomomo ties either.

My bf and i found that i can kneel straddling and sitting on a small toddler potty stool. It lifts me up off the floor a tad and means that my knees dont support my full (considerable) weight.
Like this (hope this works, i dont comment on my phone much)

Ikea 602.484.18 Forsiktig Children's Stool, Green/White https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00QNR9302/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_FnR6ybTW4BC3S

u/DeyCallMeTater · 0 pointsr/AskWomen

Oh...you put yours away? Silly rabbit. :X LOL. I have a couple of those thin fold up ones hidden around the house. Like in my kitchen, you know that dead space between the fridge and the cabinets? :D

u/chrisbrl88 · 4 pointsr/HomeImprovement

As others have said, don't do this. It's impractical, unreasonable, and a huge liability. Relationships are about compromise. Your financée will just have to use a step stool. Buy a few folding step stools. They even come in purple!
