I'm still a kid at heart!
On my 21st birthday, which was a Friday, I decided to wait until Saturday night to go out to the bar. My cousin and I hung out at thier house drinking and playing Mario Kart and Super Smash bros and her brother, who is hilarious and fun and hardly ever did stuff with us came in and played and had us crying with laughter. It was a really fun night and probably my favorite birthday ever.
I would love to have Just Dance 3 Or Epic Mickey 2 and Mickey's Paintbrush.
Thanks for the contest!
>Super Smash Bros. Brawl - Smash bros with online, some people complain about the floatiness, doesn't bother me
Floating and tripping were the main two issues you'll hear any fan of Melee bring up. I agree entirely, to be honest. Tripping especially is a point of contention, as it's the one random element you can't remove (unlike stage selection, or items.)
As for my suggestions-
Ghost Squad- I play with this gun attachment because I am awesome. The game is 20 bucks pretty much everywhere, and it's a good enough shooter to warrant it.
Guilty Gear XX Accent Core- Absolutely fantastic 2d fighter
Tatsunoko vs. Capcom- See above, but add in characters you actually recognize.
Trauma Center (New Blood or Second Opinion, I recommend New Blood due to multiplayer.)- IS IT WATER ON THE KNEE? OPERATION. No, seriously, it's a surgery game played with the wiimote that can get real challenging real fast. Definitely recommended for you and a friend to tackle.
Wiiware
Contra Rebirth- ITS GOD DAMNED CONTRA
Megaman 9/10- Classic blue.
I apologize but I can't take the picture right now because I am not at home. I can definitely get it to you with a couple days though. How much in addition to the wii were you thinking? Ill list the accessories I have:
-2 Wii controllers
-All wires (power, tv cable, sensor bar)
-Two guns like this
-Wii sports
-Wii Play
-Mario Kart
-Some hunting game
-Pikmin 2 (for gamecube, honestly an amazing game)
I have both the Mayflash Adapter and the PDP Fight Pad
If you already have the GCN controller, the adapter works well enough, specially if you want it for VC games. Every once on a while, The adapter disconnects mid gameplay for a few secs, so that can be bothersome, I used it with a pc like you intend to, works just fine. The downside is you have less buttons than the classic controller (no select/- and only 3 shoulder buttons) and the L and R are recognized as such instead of ZL/ZR which can be confusing in some instances.
The PDP Fight pad works beautifully, has all the buttons and the right analog stick is actually a stick as opposed to the shorter c-stick. The one downside is the controller feels kinda empty, which makes it feel cheap (kinda like the classic controller or those awful gamestop branded GNN controllers), but it only feels cheap cos they are very responsive.
I would recommend the fight pad over the gcn adapter, unless you absolutely positively need the original gcn controller. Havnet used the hori pads, they have turbo built in but as far as i know are pretty similar to the pdp pads.
Seems to me there's three reasons to buy Wii U Smash when you already have it on 3DS:
I bought it when we got the Wii U over Christmas because of the first bullet point; Fighting games aren't my jam, but if we have 5+ people over then odds are 3 or more will be up for Smash. I rarely play it by myself, but it sees as much play as anything we own because of people coming over.
If you decide to get it, you'll need the right set up too. Fighting game tournaments require wired controllers, and on the Wii U that requires an adapter.
If you buy a new console, look for the Smash/Splatoon Bundle:
http://www.walmart.com/ip/Nintendo-Wii-U-Splatoon-and-Super-Smash-Bros-Console-Deluxe-Set/46332497
I think it was a holiday special, but you may be able to find a local walmart, target, or something that still has it for $300. If you can't, the Mario Kart bundle is less than $300 on Amazon, and Smash is usually right at $50 new on there.
In addition to the gamepad (default controller), there's two options for Smash-compatible controllers, the "Fight Pad" that plugs into the back of the WiiMote, and the "Smash Bros Gamecube Controller" that plugs into a Gamecube adapter. At tournaments, they'll make you use Gamecube controllers wired through an adapter, otherwise there's too much interference.
If you have old Wii accessories, you can use wiimote/nunchuk combos from that, and if you have the gamecube adapter you can use old gamecube controllers.
Lots of the Smash DLC is discounted if you buy it for the 3DS and Wii U at the same time.
Don't forget, there's lots of other solid games for the Wii U that aren't on any other console - you can find lists in other places on this or the Wii U sub - that may make the math look a little better.
If they all offer the same hardware, the price typically indicates the condition of the console. Read the condition descriptions. Personally, I'd buy the cheapest one that is in what I would personally consider to be a good condition.
However, from the image on that Amazon page - those Wii Remotes and nunchucks are definitely NOT legitimate. There's no guarantee the console itself is either. If that is what is being sold by those sellers, I would look elsewhere.
Here's one on the first page of an Amazon search https://www.amazon.de/Nintendo-Wii-Family-Konsole-Sports/dp/B0049USKP4/ref=sr_1_4?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1541164822&sr=1-4&keywords=nintendo%2Bwii&th=1
that looks legitimate. There don't seem to be any legitimate bundles with 4 remotes and nunchucks, so I would recommend just buying more of those separately.
The cheapest legitimate, not motion plus Wii Remote I can see on German amazon (€10~): https://www.amazon.de/Nintendo-RVLACJW1-Wii-Remote-wei%C3%9F/dp/B000IMWK2G/ref=sr_1_8?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1541164965&sr=1-8&keywords=wii+remote

Whether or not you want the GameCube compatibility will probably depend on whether or not your kids care about having the ability to play old GameCube games or not. If you're not sure, don't worry about it.
Buying a WiiU is still worth it considering the Switch will not have a Disc Slot meaning your Wii and WiiU games are not compatible with a Switch.
Further more there's no guarantee that many games for the Wii or WiiU will ever see a re-release for the Switch.
So games like Bayonetta 2, Hyrule Warriors, Pikmin 3, The Wonderful 101, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze, or Super Mario 3D World will see a Switch port.
Even if you don't care for those games, your WiiU can be turned into a Classic Machine easily if you take advantage of the Virtual Console. Just buy one of these controllers for your Wiimote and you're set for both eShop AND Wii Shop Virtual Console games.
Yeah. There are other 3rd party ones but they replicate the XBOX360 controller for people use to that setup, these ones follow the Pro Controller and... they glow blue which is a big deal, not really.
They look like this, I own 2 and quite happy with them!
And usually you can find them on eBay or in stores cheaper!
I bought a 3rd party one from amazon.
Still waiting for it to arrive, but the reviews for it are entirely positive and it looks cool.
There's a number of them on the Wii that would tickle your fancy; House of the Dead: Overkill; Deadspace:extraction; There's Link's Crossbow Training (not sure how good it is, never managed to pick it up, it's universally trashed for not being a Zelda game but I've never heard a gameplay review). Sin and Punishment: Star Successor is kind of a hybrid lightgun shooter (you control the movement of your character with a nunchuck and can perform melee attacks). This is the gun I use ($60 Amazon LOL, you can find these in clearanece bins of used videogame stores), I really like it and hope it does me well for duckhunt. I just hope you can turn the cursor off.
You wouldn't happen to know where I could get a Wii controller from do you? Input lag on Playstation controllers is a biggy for me so that's definitely a no-go. I was originally going to buy an X360 controller but I haven't found any as of yet. I found a 3rd party version of the Wii Les Paul on Amazon but I'm not sure if its trustworthy or not.

I believe the Wii Family Edition isn't compatible with GCN controllers. For a Wii that has GCN compatibility the Wii would have ports on the top of the console (along with 2 memory card slots) you just have to open up the top. The best I can suggest you to do is to get another Wii Remote on a site like eBay (around the 10 dollar price range for an official one) and a PDP Fight Pad or a Hori Battle Pad (which are basically Classic Controllers that are like Nintendo GameCube controllers, you plug them up to the Wii Remote like the Nun-Chuck or a regular Wii Classic Controller.)
Generally with the knockoffs you get what you pay for. They tend to break quickly. It's not worth it.
If you're going to go with a third party controller, then something like the hyperkin procube is probably the best option. Although the pdp afterglow should be decent too.
If you want an emulation machine, go with Retroarch if you want a wide selection, but go with VC Injects if you want to launch games from the Wii U menu
If you want an extra controller, Nintendo isn't manufacturing them anymore so your only option is 3rd party. I would recommend this one. I've had it for a few years, and it still doesn't have drift, unlike my Gamepad.
No that's a classic controller. It will work fine Mario Kart and Smash.
But if you want a similar one that works on games like Breath of the Wild, try Hyperkin's 'Procube' controller. It acts exactly like a Wii U Pro controller, but in that more comfortable shape: https://www.amazon.com/Hyperkin-ProCube-Wireless-Controller-White-u/dp/B01BY7Z9OO
It comes in White, Black, and Purple, clickable analog sticks, etc.
Better yet... found this in the related things... best deal ever
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B005ZGZQRG/ref=asc_df_B005ZGZQRG2506089?smid=A300BO76A5T3XD&tag=dealt627774-20&linkCode=asn&creative=395105&creativeASIN=B005ZGZQRG
Being in the same boat i picked up one of these:Veanic 2.4G Wireless Gamecube Controller Gamepad Gaming Joystick with Receiver for Nintendo Gamecube,Compatible with Wii (Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075B41KWN/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_mlZ2DbXN7DP11
It works well but sometimes you have to either pull out the batteries and add them back or remove the adapter that plugs into the gc then add it back if you are inactive for 5 minutes or longer. Other than that i found the battery life, range and responsiveness to be decent. Not bad for a 3rd party controller at all.
I had to look up the Sharpshooter, since I never saw or had one, and then pulled up an image of the Aim to look at them side by side and in my opinion man, but the Sharpshooter is the uglier of the two.
To my eye the Aim looks like a sleek, futuristic video game controller designed for VR—lacking any specific tactile features or details beyond the bare minimum required for game interactions, devs can have it stand in for a wide variety of devices & weapons without creating any cognitive dissonance as you see one thing and feel another. It won't feel exactly like any specific, real-world weapon, but any intentionally-designed in-game weapon could be made to match what you feel in your hands—not to mention non-gun items, such as musical instruments, magical artifacts, et cetera.
The Sharpshooter, on the other hand, at a glance appears to be a pump-action dildo for gun fetishists. And I don't mean that simply as a hyperbolic slight; this is just the sort of thing you see in a certain class of fetish-specific sex toys, where surface details of [whatever desired fetish] are recreated for the parts you hold in your hands and then an obvious dildo shape is stuck on the end. I can see how, if you have a thing for automatic firearms, having those sorts of details baked in to the controller probably make it seem better—but to me it reduces the scope and usefulness of the device, limiting its practical uses to games where I would be holding a present-day realistic automatic firearm.
That sort of specificity in controller design, while reasonable for something like Rock Band / Guitar Hero, soon leads to ridiculous ends like these controllers for Epic Mickey 2: Mickey's paintbrush and Oswald's clicker, or this fishing rod controller, or any of the plethora of Wii Sports accessories where you have a different plastic whatsit for every single game. I'd much rather have a multi-purpose device which can be re-skinned in VR than such a single-purpose device which will always feel to your hands like a present-day firearm.
Worth mentioning there are more designs, such as a Pikachu one, a Lugi one, Link, Metal Mario, DK, Yoshi, Peach, Wario, and Samus. There might more designs, but that's all I found.
Regarding quality, they are officially licensed by Nintendo, so they should be good.
Well, actually ended getting this today for 23 bucks. And yes, I got Peach's, it was the only one they got. But if I have to lose my dignity to play Smash with a sorta-Gamecube controller, so be it.
Link for pro controller at decent price:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Nintendo-Wii-Pro-Controller-Black/dp/B009ACALCQ
This isn't the charging station I got but it is similar. Worth reading the reviews though as it seems YMMV:
http://www.amazon.com/Performance-Wii-Station-Charging-Nintendo-U/dp/B00AB2NCJI
Hope this helps :)
The buddies guitar on amazon is the only trustworthy one on amazon and it works with the raphnet
Played a bunch of Mother 3 (regularly getting 16 hit combos), Wind Waker, and Smash. No noticeable lag, the original set of rechargeable batteries I put in there are still cooking, and the controller generally feels good after a bit of breaking in. 20ish bones in the US: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075B41KWN/
There are some negative reviews, so YMMV - looks like QC may not always be good. Thoroughly test when you get it and make risky hardware purchases from places that let you do free / easy returns.
No, it doesn't. The Motion Plus adds a gyroscope for finer control in games. If your IR is sketchy, and the accelerometer is breaking, it would be best to just replace the wii remote.

This is one of the cheaper options I've found. The first party options made by Nintendo go for around 30 USD at Gamestop.
idk, I never tried a zapper. Here's the [Nyko Perfect Shot] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B000X2RKOO/ref=dp_olp_used?ie=UTF8&condition=used) -- looks like even used is kinda pricey these days. It didn't fit the black wiimoteplus that well in my experience -- I used the white original wiimote.
Overkill is the most obscene game I've ever played. For a while it had the record for most uses of the word "fuck" in any game. And the end is the most jaw-dropping shocking thing I have seen in any game --- way more over-the-top obscene than any GTA game. It's great tho like a Tarantino zombie game
ditto
>It’s not like the melee specific crowd is going to generate a good return on investment
the article you linked mentions multiple businesses that get by specifically by catering to the melee community lol
PDP came out with a set of GCN style controllers.
Only downsides are the analog sticks aren't clickable and the triggers aren't linear. Oh and it's wired with the WiiMote port. But still it's the best closest thing I've found.
Try going for the Japanese one from Amazon. It's literally the exact same as the US version (and OEM), except the packaging is in Japanese. I got mine the other day and it works like a charm.
This looks like it may be the genuine article. The manufacturer is listed as Nintendo which is promising. I've just ordered two which means there are probably only 10 left:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Nintendo-2111666-Remote-Wrist-Strap/dp/B001EX1MWC
If you're using a pro-controller/ wired fight pad etc you won't be able to use it in locals/ tournaments because they are usually banned [due to accidental reconnects] as these connect into the wii's controller.
If you're using a gamecube controller [i highly recommend], you need an adaptor. I also suggest you get official game cube controllers, as off-brand/ knock-off ones wear out very quickly.
If you're going to be playing only w/ friends or randoms, you'll require and ethernet-usb adaptor [+ some cat5 cable]. You don't need a nintendo branded one, just get one that supports wii u [not all do]. having a fast wifi hub right next to your wii u is unplayable. you need wired connection.
edit: a review if interested.
It's a good suggestion, but I went already in all game stores where I live, I can't find a single strap without need to buy the whole Wiimote. JanS19 find a link in Amazon.de with original Nintendo straps, 4 pcs set.
I read somewhere than there are three version of the Nintendo wrist strap (first is the weaker, last the stronger). So I prefer bet on the better strap I can find, for the Vive.
I use this controller because it feels like the Gamecube controller, but it connects to a Wii remote so it is sort of wireless. Plus I think I paid about $15 for it at a Gamestop, new in box. I also have a Princess Peach themed one.
Edit: This is read as a Classic Controller, so any game that lets you play with the classic controller should work with these.
Noob question: I want to buy a pro controller for MK8 and others games (like Mario 3D World).
Should I buy official products only, or can I go for 3rd party ones ? If so, which ones ? Is this one ok ?

Wii classic controller, might be the pro version actually. Like this.

One of the Hori or PDP fight pads that were recently released would work the same.
MM was included as a bonus disc with one of the games, and my brother played it all the time on the Wii with a Gamecube controller. That's why I'm assuming you'll need the classic controller or fight pad.
Pro controller!. Thanks for the contest.
Try this one from amazon. Reviews say it's original.
Should I get this or the Wired Fight Pad?
Edit: Seriously? Downvoted for asking which controller is better value?
This is worth looking into. I don't think it has analog triggers (meaning you would have to use the left shoulder button for a half press for spraying in Mario Sunshine for instance), but it should have sticks you can click in since it is just a Wii U Pro controller with a different button layout.

Nintendo has a series of Fight pads that are like gamecube controllers that plug into the nunchuck slot
Looks like a white Wii Classic Controller Pro.
Looks like the Wii Classic Controller Pro: https://www.amazon.com/Wii-Classic-Controller-Pro-Japanese-Version/dp/B002ACOJTY/ref=pd_sbs_63_t_1/161-5708022-6672547?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=K39FWNTF7WMQ1MD5N7AD
Tu parles de ça ? Effectivement, si Amazon met 2 semaines à le livrer, ça doit pas courir les rues.
Sinon t'as la manette pro. Je prendrais sûrement ça, si SSB est injouable au gamepad.
I picked up two Perfect Shots for those arcade-style games. They were incredibly worth it, especially since they were $20 or less for quite some time.
Is this controller worse than the normal gamecube controller? I've been using one with a similar build for years on my gamecube and never noticed any problems and I'm planning on getting a new one for Smash Ultimate. Is there any input lag or something like that?
Controller in question:

Yikes that's a long link
I don't know where you're from, but there seems to be a lot of options for controllers on amazon https://www.amazon.ca/Cirka-M05819-BK-GameCube-Controller/dp/B005ZGZQRG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1462221802&sr=8-1&keywords=gamecube+controller+nintendo
Amazon has them in stock! (for now)

Possibly the Gametime Buddies guitar?
Apparently it's actually a decent controller. Might want to cut slits in the rubber pads under the fret buttons to make the buttons feel a little nicer, but I suppose that's down to personal preference.
Acai bought one and he said he'll likely use it until it breaks.
Amazon has them as prime eligible.

The company PDP actually did make updated GameCube controllers with the extra shoulder button and the plus and minus buttons but if I'm not mistaken, it only worked when plugged into a Wii remote.

This is obviously a joke.
Firstly. It certainly isn't the most expensive controller you've ever seen.

Secondly, he is just talking nonsense. Asking if it feels awkward.

Ah really?
This is the PDP controller I was talking about.

These are the originals.
Afterglow Pro Controller
It's what they're calling it in store.
Same with Amazon.
link to purchase
I use the US version of these. Same plug and all.
Since I couldnt find an adapter I bought this Wii U Fight Pad Controller. It's decent.
I use a wii guitar with the raphnet adaptor.
Is this it?
This is the one I had
Not an original, but you can get them for $20:
https://smile.amazon.com/Veanic-Wireless-Gamecube-Controller-Compatible/dp/B075B41KWN/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=wavebird&qid=1558371303&s=gateway&sr=8-3
I am currently using this. I haven't experienced any issues yet, and even the Home button works to take back to main screen. I don't like the button layout however, just feels wonky.
no. Fight pads feel horrible on smash. Also instead of using the adapters I've been using these and they feel near perfect:
http://www.amazon.com/PDP-Wired-Fight-Pad-nintendo-u/dp/B00LSBNSCC/ref=pd_sim_vg_4?ie=UTF8&refRID=0D1MMM7EASV4YDKZY40Y
They feel just like the gamecube controller, but function as classic controllers
Hyperkin makes one that is close:
https://www.amazon.com/Hyperkin-ProCube-Wireless-Controller-White-u/dp/B01BY7Z9OO
If you actually wanted to really do this, man, good luck. It'll be a total mess, a lot of board cuts and soldering... and in the end, if you're using it for smash, you have to plug it in at big tourneys, anyhow.
Haven't thought to try the classic controller. I have these, you'll notice some reviews talk about the digital shoulder buttons. Kinda ridiculous for an officially licensed product. I use wired GC controllers because they actually have analog triggers.
Here's what I use and I don't think it's that expensive:
PDP Wired Fight Pad for Wii U - Link https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00PAB3P6A/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awd_CuxIwbR29ZKB0
Wii U Fight Pad. These plug into Wii Remote ports, and can be used as a Classic Controller for the Wii or Wii U.
Samus Gamecube Wii Controller
Can vouch for these. I have all 3 games on Wii with these with a few other light gun games. HotD 2 and 3 are hard as hell.
Really satisfies the light gun itch when I get it.
