Wiis, or Wii Us? I'm going to assume Wii, but if you mean Wii U, I can also help. I also don't know exactly how these Wiis will be used. Are they meant to be used in a clubhouse-like setting, or will they be taken from place to place for one kid to play at a time?
If you bought Wiis, you would more than likely be being used. You could check a local Gamestop to see if they're selling them used, but they may not. Like, I know my local Gamestop only sells PS3s and 360s used. If they don't have Wiis, you can definitely buy off of eBay or Amazon. I suggest you try to get controllers bundled with the console wherever you get them, because buying controllers on their own are like $20, $50 if you want a Motionplus (which is just an extension that improves the controller) The advantage of buying a Wii over a Wii U would be you would have a lot of money left over for games, since the console itself is more inexpensive, and the games are cheaper.
Although it's an older console, the Wii still has plenty of great games. [Mario Kart Wii] (http://www.amazon.com/Mario-Kart-Wii-Wheel-Nintendo/dp/B000XJNTNS) is a really fun one, and if you just buy the game (I never liked the wheel) it's pretty cheap. [Mario Party 8] (http://www.amazon.com/Mario-Party-8-nintendo-wii/dp/B000LSJKAM/ref=sr_1_1?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1415812236&sr=1-1&keywords=mario+party+8) is a MUST have, and is probably the best party game on the system. Huge replay value, and it's not too difficult for kids. [Super Mario Galaxy] (http://www.amazon.com/Super-Mario-Galaxy-Nintendo-Wii/dp/B000FQ9QVI/ref=sr_1_2?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1415812294&sr=1-2&keywords=super+mario+galaxy) is widely regarded as one of the best video games period. It's only 2 player, though, so it might not be best for your situation. [New Super Mario Bros. Wii] (http://www.amazon.com/New-Super-Mario-Bros-Wii-Nintendo/dp/B002BRZ9G0/ref=pd_sim_vg_4?ie=UTF8&refRID=160GWY5DR8453EPHDZFW) is a really fun game, and is great for co-op play. Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort are VERY good games, both very versatile. They're easy to pick up, and can be played alone or with friends. Most Wiis came with Wii Sports, so you can pick it up for really cheap. Wii Party I've found is pretty popular with kids, although it's not the best party game on the system. My younger sister loves Wii Play, but I don't see how it could appeal to kids. It has 9 minigames that are all pretty different, but they're not spectacular. Just Dance is a great game to get, but a lot of kids are sometimes too embarrassed to ever play it. The Lego games are GREAT, and even though they're only two player, I think they're way to fun to leave out. They're good for kids, adults, teens, whatever. My personal favorite is the Lego Star Wars Saga, but there are plenty of other Lego games if you don't like that one. Kirby's Epic Yarn could be fun for kids, because I know Kirby is a really popular character for the younger ones. I may be wrong, but I think (?) it supports co-op mode. For the older kids, Super Smash Bros Brawl is the absolute BEST choice. My local YMCA used to have a Wii and only Super Smash Bros Brawl, and it was all that the middle/high school aged kids used to play.
With a Wii, you can also play Gamecube games. Similar to the Wii, it has Mario Kart games, Mario Party games, and Super Smash Bros. You have to buy a Gamecube controller, though, obviously.
In terms of educational games, the only one I can think of that was major for the system is Big Brain Academy: Wii Degree. I personally had a lot of fun with it, and it's challenging for older kids while still being accessible for younger ones.
In terms of accessories, I suggest nunchuks and classic controllers. Nunchuks are required for a lot of games, and classic controllers can either be used as an alternate controller or to control Wii Shop games. The Wii Shop is where you can download old games, like the original Super Mario Bros. The classic controller is required to play those games. As I mentioned before, the Motion Plus is also helpful, and required for some games, like Wii Sports Resort. It's basically just an upgrade to the Wii that is attached to the bottom. If you buy Wii Fit (which I didn't suggest, since it's pretty much one player) you will need to buy a Balance Board.
With all of the games, you're probably going to be buying used, just because new Wii games are almost always very expensive. Used games for Wii can vary from expensive to cheap, and I can't imagine you'd come very close to $950 with everything I just mentioned. So with whatever you have left, visit a Gamestop, which have extensive Wii collections, and grab whatever game catches your eye. Games like Deca Sports and 30 Great Games are fun games that I own that went under the radar.
Worthwhile games under $20
Wii U:
Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate (Currently $20 on Amazon via third-party seller) - A solid action game with good online play.
Scribblenauts Unlimited ($17 on Amazon via third-party retailer, inc. shipping) and Unmasked ($18 on Amazon) - A fun little creative toy where you solve puzzles by creating... well, just about anything.
Deus Ex: Human Revolution (Currently $15 on Amazon) - A superb FPS, and the Wii U version is arguably the definitive console version of the game.
Batman: Arkham City: Armored Edition ($11 on BestBuy.com) - The definitive version of one of the best superhero games of all time.
Tekken Tag Tournament 2 ($19 on Amazon) - A good fighting game.
Injustice: Gods Among Us ($14 on BestBuy.com) - A surprisingly good fighting game
Lego Marvel (Currently $20 on Amazon) - One of the better of the LEGO games, and the Wii U gamepad means that co-op play can be done with each player getting their own screen.
Assassin's Creed III (Currently $12 on Amazon via third-party seller, inc. shipping) and Black Flag ($19 on Amazon via third-party retailer, inc. shipping) - They're not really all that much better on the Wii U than other platforms, but if you don't have them yet these are decent entries in the series.
Resident Evil Revelations ($17 on BestBuy.com) - A decent entry in the series.
Wii:
Super Mario Galaxy ($20 on Amazon) - One of the best Mario games ever made, and generally considered to be one of the best videogames of all time.
Resident Evil 4 ($15 on Amazon) - One of the best survival horror games ever made.
Okami ($20 on Amazon) - A Zelda-style game with a beautiful calligraphy style.
Sin & Punishment: Star Successor ($18 on Amazon) - An action-packed shooter
Kirby's Epic Yarn ($14 on Amazon via third-party seller, inc. shipping) - It's so saccharine-cute it'll make your teeth rot, but if you can put up with that, it's an extremely inventive and fun platformer.
No More Heroes ($19 on Amazon) - A fun, very silly, violent action game.
Trauma Center: Second Opinion ($18 on Amazon) - Part surgery sim, part wicked hard arcade game.
De Blob ($18 on Amazon via third-party, inc. shipping) - A fun, inventive platformer where you bounce around to paint the scenery.
MadWorld ($11 on Amazon via third-party, inc. shipping) - A good, hyper-violent action game.
Wii U Nintendo eShop:
Shovel Knight - Old-school platformer goodness, designed like someone took the best parts of your favorite NES games and mashed them all together.
Art of Balance - A puzzle game that has you stacking blocks. It's really well-made.
Guacamelee: Super Turbo Championship Edition - A truly excellent Metroidvania-style game with a killer fighting engine and a fun, silly luchador theme. If you don't already have this on another platform, you need to get it.
Trine 2: Director's Cut - An excellent platform/puzzle game, and the Wii U version is arguably the best because the touchscreen is integrated very well.
WiiWare:
World of Goo - A superb puzzle game where you must construct various structures to get your goo to the exit.
Lost Winds 1 & 2 - Very good platformers that make good use of the Wii remote to make the gameplay interesting.
Bomberman Blast - 8-player online Bomberman. Aww yisssss.
Wii U Virtual Console - Too many good old-school games to list.
Wii Virtual Console - Tons and tons of good old-school games. It's not quite as convenient as the Wii U virtual console, because you have to go into Wii mode to play them and you can't play them with the Wii U gamepad, but the selection on the Wii's Virtual Console is far, far better than on the Wii U, and at the rate Nintendo is adding games to the Wii U Virtual Console, it looks like it'll probably stay that way for a long time. Keep in mind that if Nintendo adds a game to the Wii U Virtual Console that you already have on the Wii Virtual Console, they'll give you a discount on it to entice you to upgrade, so don't hold off just because you're hoping the game you want will come to the Wii U Virtual Console if it's already on the Wii Virtual Console.
Edit: Well, damn. Today Nintendo announced what is kinda' a game-changer - they're releasing Wii games directly for download on the Wii U's eShop for $20 each ($10 each on the week they're first released). The first game, Super Mario Galaxy 2, is out now, and the next two games will be Metroid Prime Trilogy and Punch-Out!!
All three of those games are extremely good, and have been selling for far more than the asking price (Metroid Prime Trilogy was $60-100 used before this news). If you're looking for cheap Wii U games and never got these titles on the Wii, Nintendo has just dropped the gauntlet with a deal you can't refuse.
First thing I'd do is order [Wii Party U] ( http://www.amazon.com/Party-Black-Remote-Plus-nintendo-u/dp/B00DC7FWRE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1381842635&sr=8-1&keywords=wii+party+u).
It's $50 and comes with a black motion + controller and comes out this month. The game looks really fun local mutliplayer, and you will really want a Wiimote+ in your collection as well so this kills 2 birds with 1 stone. Grab a Black Nunchuck to match and you should be good to go.
[NintendoLand] (http://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-Land-wii-u/dp/B002I0K3M0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1381843310&sr=8-1&keywords=nintendo+land) - Is really fun local multiplayer, and can be found for $20 or less these days. Keep an eye out and you can get it cheap.
[Need for Speed Most Wanted U] ( http://www.amazon.com/Need-Speed-Most-Wanted-Nintendo-u/dp/B00A39IEN8/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1381843367&sr=8-6&keywords=need+for+speed+most+wanted ) - is the best version of the game. They support every feature the PS360 has + off screen play, a co-driver mode which helps you change your environments, DLC included, further draw distances and higher res textures (they used the PC textures, not the PS360 ones) so if you don't already have it, it's a great game and under $20.
[Rayman Legends] ( http://www.amazon.com/Rayman-Legends-nintendo-wii-u/dp/B008AU4YEA/ref=sr_1_1_title_0?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1381843522&sr=1-1&keywords=rayman+legends+wiiu ) - Is also best on Wii U, in particular if you have someone to play co-op with.
I'd also at least try the [Zombie U] ( http://www.amazon.com/ZombiU-Nintendo-Wii-U/dp/B00897Z27C/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1381843957&sr=8-1&keywords=zombie+u), Monster Hunters 3, [Wonderful 101] ( http://www.amazon.com/The-Wonderful-101-Nintendo-Wii-U/dp/B002I08CSW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1381844015&sr=8-1&keywords=wonderful+101), Sonic & All Stars Racing all of which are pretty good and have demos in the eShop.
Some Wii Games you missed since the Wii U is 100% Backwards compatible.
[Metroid Prime Trilogy] ( http://www.amazon.com/Metroid-Prime-Trilogy-Collectors-Edition-Nintendo/dp/B002ATY7JE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1381842549&sr=8-1&keywords=metroid+prime+trilogy ) - Fantastic. Can't be stressed enough. 3 FANTASTIC 20+ hour games, and the motion / pointers controls are fantastic. This is how FPS's should be done.
Super Mario Galaxy 1 and [or 2] (http://www.amazon.com/Super-Mario-Galaxy-2-Nintendo-Wii/dp/B002BSA388/ref=pd_sim_vg_2) - Both are great, but if you're going to get [Super Mario 3D World] (http://www.amazon.com/Super-Mario-3D-World-Nintendo-Wii/dp/B00DC7G0GG/ref=sr_1_1?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1381844129&sr=1-1&keywords=mario+world) I can see waiting on them.
[MadWorld] ( http://www.amazon.com/MadWorld-Nintendo-Wii/dp/B0019SY1D4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1381842523&sr=8-1&keywords=madworld ) - Short and fun, guilty pleasure kind of game. Think of the movie "The Running Man" done with a Sin City style and you're pretty close and it's under $10 now. Also for guilty pleasures I enjoyed House of the Dead: Overkill
[Red Steel 2] ( http://www.amazon.com/Red-Steel-2-Nintendo-Wii/dp/B001TOMR0C/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1381842459&sr=8-1&keywords=red+steel+2 ) - Fun game that probably would of sold better if they didn't call it "Red Steel 2", it's a LOT better than the 1st one and different enough that it could of been it's own IP.
Any Tiger Woods from 10 and up - I enjoyed them all, but once they added Wiimotion+ support it controlled much better.
[Punch-Out!!!] ( http://www.amazon.com/Punch-Out-Nintendo-Selects-Wii/dp/B005EIIBKY/ref=sr_1_1?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1381842847&sr=1-1&keywords=punchout ) Has support for motion controls or old fashioned NES style. Fun game.

My favorite gaming memory is probably my first D&D campaign. It's not a kid game, but you said tabletop counts! It was just a really fun experience learning about this whole new gaming world--I'd never played tabletop games before of any kind. I think I made a bard, and I ended up being super useful in this campaign because we needed to suck up to a lot of people. My bard spent like 90% of every day singing and trying to convince NPCs to do stuff, and it was fun to be useful.
I'm still a kid at heart!
There aren't many games on my WL as most games we want are super expensive, but Super Mario Galaxy would be great, or this Gloom game looks pretty fun. Or Wii Music, my brother kept my copy when I moved. In summary, surprise me out of these options if I win because these are the only games on my list (I made it easy, no searching!).

Hopefully that helps. If you have any other questions I can try my best to answer them tomorrow.
Omg this contest is SO FUN!! Okay, I've recorded you TWO WHOLE SONGS!!
The first, since I play ocarina, is from Legend of Zelda. Song of Healing, for your listening pleasure. EDIT: I have no idea why this came out so choppy. YouTube is mean. ;~;
The second...well. Just watch it.
I'm sorry my webcam/mic are icky. It picks up a lot of the breathy noise from the ocarina that you can't hear as much in person, but it's the best recording I could get.
As for my favorite game? It changes sooo often. I'm terrible at picking "favorite" things, be it movies or games or music or whatever. For now, I'll go with Skyward Sword. All the Zelda games have stolen my heart, and it's so hard to pick just one, but I think I'm gonna say SS because of all the origin and backstory it brought us.
Thanks for the awesome contest! I'm so curious about the goodies that'll be in the prize box!! XD

Okami!
Such an amazingly beautiful and engaging game.. i was worried that when i got it, i had gotten something people would make fun of me for being childish.. it is amazing! it's something i keep going back to play.. the parts where you aren't fighting are brain engaging and relaxing at the same time, beautiful scenery and wonderful music. I LOVE IT..
Vidya Gaems aer da beast.
There aren't any substantive difference in terms of game play or content. The 3DS version adds a few silly features like figure collecting and streetpass functions (which just provides tokens for the figure collecting thing), but I don't honestly think anyone used those features a lot. They're entirely separate from the game, and sort of just tacked on at the end.
The main differences are in terms of graphics, but I honestly didn't mind the 3DS version at all. I really like it. I sort of prefer the 3DS graphics in a way because of my expectations of the two mediums (handheld vs. home console). I have no problem playing a handheld game with graphics like Xenoblade 3D, because the game itself is impressive for a 3DS game in terms of world size and content. However, on a home console, Xenoblade graphics feel outdated by now, and I've found that Wii games have this weird "cloudy" look on modern HDTVs. It might look better connected to a CRT TV, or maybe if you used component cables, but I don't have either option, so I'm stuck with the cloudiness of Wii games.
Then there's price and availability. You can get typically get Xenoblade 3D anywhere from $30 - $35, and it'll almost always be available. For the Wii version, right now, your best bet is the International versions they're selling on Amazon if you're in the US. The region seems odd, but it's compatible with NA consoles. Once these run out, you'll be stuck looking on eBay for copies that are sold easily for $60 - $70+ until NoA gets Xenoblade Chronicles on the eShop, as it's currently available in EU and JP.
These are interesting examples, but,
The MPAA, I see as an evaluating organization instead of a regulating organization. It doesn't maintain nor demand any quality of the product, nor does it maintain nor demand any guidelines for safety. In that regard, it is more of a tool like Metacritic.com or the Blue Book, in that it serves primarily to inform the consumer rather than regulate movies.
Even as it does so, IIRC, films have to pay a fee to get their film rated, and can easily opt out, if they aren't part of affiliated major movie-making studios, Furthermore, their standards are not open to the public or anyone outside the organization.
Pretty much I see it as the equivalent of a "Nintendo Select Games"
As for your second example, from the wiki, since I've never heard of it, "UL is one of several companies approved for such testing by the U.S. federal agency Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)"
Zombie U - $14.99 (has been as low as $9.99 before at Best Buy)
Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge - $16.95
Wonderful 101 - $23.59
Pikmin 3 Digital Code - $15 - $25
Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 - $14.95
Tekken Tag Tournament - $19.99
That right there will put you at about $105. You can really only find Pikmin 3 cheap by looking on eBay for those selling the free codes that came from Mario Kart 8. DKC is still generally full MSRP and I don't think I've ever seen Lego City Under Cover cheaper than $30 new. I know I've seen some of these listed games on sale for $9.99 new before (Ninja Gaiden, Tekken Tag, COD:Blops 2, Zombi U) and for sure I've seen them used at that price through GameFly (case, manual and discs usually come in excellent condition) Hope this helps
Oh yeah and Best Buy price matches Amazon (I believe Wal-mart does too) so you could go to a store, or order online (will require some customer service help) and price match the items so you can grab them from the same store.
Instead of opining on which version of TP is best, how about I give you what I feel are the strengths of the GCN and the Wii versions and from this information you can make an educated choice as to which better suits you?

In addition to this, there are minor differences that are neither good nor bad. For example, the Wii version features a fairy that functions as a targeting reticule. I won't bother to comprehensively list these.
Hopefully you'll find this list to be of use.
Okay, so I basically want everything on your wishlists :p I think, treat yourself to a game - Zelda, namely, because then it's a treat that lasts! :)
And hmm, what's on mine... This playsuit, simply because it's cute, and I don't have a playsuit for the summer :)
woop-di-woop is a great raffle phrase! WOOP-DI-WOOP!! Sorry... I've had a bit too much coffee...
Since you've been away from Nintendo for a while now, I'd say buy the system now and play through the Wii catalog until the Wii U games start dropping in a few months. That gives you time to play through the two Wii Zelda games, the Mario Galaxies, Super Paper Mario, Metroid Prime Corruption, and Donkey Kong Country Returns (at a minimum) before the wave of fall games arrives.
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
Super Mario Galaxy
Super Mario Galaxy 2
Super Paper Mario
Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
Donkey Kong Country Returns
There's even more awesome games to be had from the Wii's catalog, and they're all 100% compatible with the Wii U. Don't deny yourself these awesome games!
For you: treat yourself to some Wii-y goodness. Play Super Paper Mario and Skyward Sword. This goes over by almost a pound, so this may disqualify me. Worth it, though.
If I win, I think I'd like West Side Story for my wife.
Thanks for the contest!
woop-di-woop!
I used the store as an example that used goods stores can have it for reasonable prices. Are you on the spectrum?

Ohhhh I know it would be more than awesome if I got Donkey Kong Country Returns
I know it's a little bit more expensive but I will share this with my 3 siblings which would be more appropriate to spread the happiness
or
Survival Straps if safety and being prepared is important
Wow great looking stuff on your WLs! I've got a couple entries you may like:
Both great games which are similar enough to some one your WL that I think you'll enjoy them, but different enough that you won't be bored!
As for something on my wishlist, I'd love these paint brushes so I could start painting mini figs and tiny sculptures!
2)X is a sequel, as far as we know. There are certain things that are directly related, and some that are completely unrelated.
4)I'd wager there'll be no amiibo support. Have fun!
Old inappropriate one that made me spit my milk when I first heard it:
You must be king dodonngo cause I really wanna explode in your mouth ;)
I am so sorry for that...not really xD Like has twinkle toes though :P and this because the ten minutes I got to play at my local arcade weren't enough to satisfy the hunger it left to take on a new Hylian challenge! I thought it was awesome! PS HAPPY BIRTHDAY IN A FEW, OP!!!!!!!
I don't think anyone is against you playing video games, at least not here. People are just against you playing Battlefield 3.
In other news, Golden Eye just got released....again. So you can play that!.
I'm glad you are able to enjoy gaming so much and my future currently looks like it is going to be following a path like yours. I hope you find battlefield 3 more valuable than I do!
I understand what you mean, and I'm not going to pitchfork you. Here are some games that I think a 9 year old would like, and ones that I enjoy as well.
Any Legend of Zelda and Mario ones are good too.
So, most of the suggestions I have are already mentioned here, but if you're interested in something a little "different" but still in a similar vein, I'd suggest Muramasa: The Demon Blade. It's more of a 2D Platformer/Fighter/RPG combo, but I found it immensely entertaining, and it has beautiful artwork. Again, it's not a straight-up fighter - it's sort of in a category of it's own, but it has a similar style and feel to a lot of my favorite fighting games, and it's currently only $10.99 on Amazon.
I'll say you should get Skyward Sword! Very highly acclaimed game, I really want to play it myself. I hear it's good for fans and newbies to the Zelda series such as myself alike.
And for me, Dollhouse! I absolutely adored this series when it was on, but haven't seen it since. I'm generally a fan of getting my favorite TV series on DVD, I like marathonning them while in bed.
http://www.amazon.com/Super-Smash-Bros-Brawl-Nintendo-Wii/dp/B000FQ9R4E/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1408162307&sr=8-1&keywords=brawl
30-ish bucks new on amazon still, that might be your best bet for online, but for the heck of it I'd check out Ebay prices under "newly listed" see if you can find a new copy for cheaper. :)
Good luck!
Super Mario Bros. Wii.
It goes back to the same play style that Super Mario Bros. 4 had back in the old Super Nintendo days. I tried out the coin battle (1-4 people compete to collect the most coins in a level) a while back and was going to sit down and play for 10-15 minutes and wound up playing for a few hours.
The next day a friend and I picked it back up and played the actual campaign (for lack of a better term) for damn near 4 hours straight. It isn't split screen but it is co-op on the same screen and an absolute blast to play with a friend.
> You don't need the same users and beyond a certain point additional reviews have diminishing returns on their accuracy - so as long as there are 'a lot' it won't affect the accuracy by any significant amount.
Even with just upthumbs and downthumbs, getting any sort of accuracy out of your numbers takes many hundreds of votes. Something with a upvote:downvote ratio of 265:7 realistically speaking could have a "real" upvote percentage of anywhere between 94.79% and 98.76%. That may not sound like a big range, but you'll find that if you want to rank products by rating, this is a huge problem, because a lot of things will end up with very similar ratings.
Even something like 475:20 only gives you a range of 97.38% to 93.85%.
Note that this gets worse the more votes of the less common type you get; something with like 200:100 upvotes:downvotes has a real range of 61.28% to 71.89% upvotes.
With a numerical range, you're adding in both additional inaccuracy due to people not using the scale the same way, and additional inaccuracy because you have a broader scale. You're increasing your error, which is going to decrease your accuracy.
A lot of products are not going to get that many votes; Super Mario Galaxy, for instance, was a pretty popular Wii game. It has 623 reviews.
You and I seem to have very similar tastes in video games. I really liked Muramasa: The Demon Blade on Wii. It's a 2D action RPG. If you don't think that looks interesting, Pandora's Tower is also a fantastic game.
As for something I want, I've been wanting Dragon Quest IX, I'm going on a trip to Florida soon, (8 hours on a plane from Anchorage, AK to Orlando, FL) so I could use a new DS game for the flights :P
The game pad turns off when you switch to Wii mode.
You will need the Wii Remote Plus and Nunchuck to play the classic Wii games but, the classic Wii remote will work as well if you already own that. In addition, I'd also recommend grabbing a classic controller if you plan on playing Wii games like Super Smash Bros Brawl as the Wii U Pro Controller will not work.
There is an official forum list here of compatible external hard drives, but I haven't put much of a dent in mine yet so, you may want to hold off.
Typical file sizes for older SNES games seem to be in the 20-30 MB range.
But you save money in the long run because the resale value will likely be (roughly) what you paid for it. Used, Super Mario Galaxy is only about $10 now anyway, that seems pretty good value to me.
As someone who beat it 3 times over on both the PS2 and the Wii, the Wii version is a lot better in my opinion.
My reason? The drawing mechanic in the game is better suited for the Wii controller, which makes the game much more fast paced and the battles are a lot more fun. Instead of having to draw a shape slowly with the analog stick. Don't get me wrong, it was still fun on the PS2, but I still hold a preference to the Wii version after playing both. But if you can use the motion on the PS3 it would be worth it to get that.
I just took a quick look online if that is any help PS2, Wii, can't find the PS3 version. The Wii version is cheaper though.
If you enjoy that, Super Mario Galaxy 2 just got a second reprinting under the "Nintendo Selects" collection - it and several others are going for $20 now. Pretty good deal, considering that most Nintendo titles stubbornly retain their value for yeaaars.
The issue is, the PS3 camera used is being valued at $13 tops. Bowsers is hitting at $15. Skyward Sword is still rocking a $30 value.
If your not interested in a two for 1, I would be good with a Camera for spirit tracks deal.
You should give Goldeneye: 007 on Wii a try.
It's not exactly a remake of the N64 version, more of a "reimagining" (Rare owns the rights to the original, so Eurocom created an adaptation). It's a solid game and the online community is still active. You'll definitely have a better time with this one than 007 Legends.

You can get the original for $50 now. If you enjoyed XCX even in the slightest, you should definitely play it.

Same price.
Still waiting for Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn and Xenoblade Chronicles for the Wii to come down in price. One of these days...
As for games I've actually waited a long time to play, the winner there is probably either Half Life 1 (played it for the first time this year) or maybe some old Atari games (played on one of those battery-powered hook-to-TV consoles maybe 7 years ago).
That's because you're looking at Best Buy... Never buy things from Best Buy.
Amazon
oh! i would def be interested. i'm trying to save up for one for my son. he has been asking for one for so long now. Favorite video game. of all time. lol
Edit: Favorite DS game.

ehh I was going to say something mean about Nintendo but I don't have the energy anymore.
I would say Muramasa the Demon blade was fun

Yes. I liked it quite a bit. My second favorite in the franchise, right behind Ocarina. But that's my opinion.
It's only $49.49

Thanks! It looks like Okami is on Amazon (my go-to for most of my purchases anyway), so that looks like a good option! I would prefer to buy a physical copy both so it can be returned if he doesn't want it and also it's kind of more fun to give physical gifts. Looks like Dark Souls 2 doesn't have a physical copy yet, but maybe I'll look into DS1 to see if it is compatible.
I made a decent side income when I was in grad school flipping video games and gaming accessories. I knew a few pawn shops close to my house that had flat rates on DS/3DS/retro games, and steeply discounted rates on accessories/non-current-gen systems. A few examples:
$10 for a new, sealed GameCube controller from 2002-ish (before they released new GC controllers with Smash for Wii U); sold for over $100 on eBay
$7 for a Skyward Sword wiimote; sold for $80.
$18 total for two complete copies of Pokemon: Heart Gold and one complete copy of Pokemon: Soul Silver (sold each for $55).
$8 total for complete copies of Mario Party 4, 5, 6, and 7; sold each for $25-40.
also, if you like 2D games get this and this
Muramasa in particular, has an awesome art style
They dropped the price on the game itself already. On Amazon, it's $39.99. This bundle deal is actually better than some of the move bundle deals they had for Black Friday. But yeah, still pricey for a 2-year-old port, I guess. The Wii version is like 15 bucks.
Super Smash Bros. Brawl! - the Subspace Emissary mode is an awesome platform-ish adventure campaign.
I hate to say it but this is all on you bud, it has been known that the game required motion plus, this is not new, not a secret and was talked about everytime i read anything about the game...from E3, gameplay videos, articles etc. and I am sure it says so on the box. Be a smarter consumer. edit what's that sticker at the bottom say????
For Metroid Prime Trilogy, the fact that it's at least a hundred bucks is what stops me, the same thing that stopped me when I actually owned a Wii. For the Pikmins, the new play control just didn't do it for me, and I'd hope that the Wii U version would allow more classic style play with the screen controller.
In any case, it's not so much an issue of "I'm going to run out and buy this console now if they offer these things" as "when I purchase my next console, these things would make this console a possible choice".
While I agree, apparently its not as easy to get your hands on the Metroid trilogy anymore. New for around $130, and used for $65.

Looks like I actually might have made a profit on that purchase, if I ever decide to sell (which I won't) :P
Forgot to post a link, seems like a fantastic deal to me:

I'm playing Metroid Prime this very second. Hand-down the best video game compilation you could ever buy.

Is that the best you have in really expensive Wii games?!
If you're looking for a fairly priced copy to use in the US, then check out Amazon. They actually have the international version in stock almost all the time. The sticker on the cover says UAE, Malaysia, etc but it apparently works for NA consoles. In case you don't trust my comment, feel free to do some Google research you'll find many people (including in the Amazon comments themselves) testifying that it works for NA consoles.

Currently flipping through Amazon, Brawl is $29, Mario Kart Wii is $39, Galaxy is $44, Skyward Sword is $40, Wii Sports Resort is $34... where are you buying your games? I mean, yeah, they aren't a hard $60 anymore, but these games are old. All of these should be well under $20 by now.

It's now all motion control like the third one, but it looks better.
This c:
It's a 200 dollar game. Cmon XD
You might want to use Amazon's "Customers who viewed this item..." feature.
Apart from clicking around on their site, it works like this:
http://www.amazon.com/Legend-Zelda-Twilight-Princess-Nintendo-Wii/dp/B000FQBPCQ/ref=pd_sxp_f_pt
Take the part after /dp/, so B000FQBPCQ in this case. Put http://www.amazon.com/sim/ in front, and /2/&pf=video_games at the end, like this:
http://www.amazon.com/sim/B000FQBPCQ/2/&pf=video_games
Um...what? The two facts that (A) Wind Waker still looks great on televisions with minimal updating and (B) lots of people like myself never played it are the exact reasons why a Wind Waker re-release was a slam dunk idea on Nintendo's part.
If they want to do Majora's Mask, it would probably be on the 3DS where graphical expectations are lower. And Twilight Princess is easily available to Wii U owners already while Wind Waker is not.
They also weren't looking to re-make the game, but simply re-release it to make it widely available and rake in the cash while they develop new, original games that require much, much more money and manpower. The HD tweak is just an excuse to do a new print run on a newer console with minimal overhauling.
Whatever you do don't buy it, because it's part of Nintendo's Best Of collection and is only $20 now.
Check out the Amazon link. FWIW, these are all people using "Fulfilled by Amazon" and almost all of them selling the "World Edition".

the new world edition that plays in NTSC Wii is pretty reasonable:

Let's just use amazon prices:

That brings us to a total of $576.42.
He could have bought the games on discount from Toys R Us which has many discounted games plus buy one get one 60% off.
Also could have gotten the buy 2 get 1 free at Target a week ago. YOu could also price match that sale, all though many stores were hesitant to do that.
Don't forget us Wiitards. Super Mario Galaxy 2, Animal Crossing - City Folk, Super Mario All-Stars, and Donkey Kong Country Returns also for $15.99 each.
(So what's better -- Animal Crossing or Stardew Valley?)
I can certainly handle that with all of the Mario anesthetics. I wish they would have used some other Nintendo IP though.
Amazon has it in stock. 5 used from $24.99; brand new $42.95 + free shipping.

Only $60? It goes for $150 new on amazon, haha.
Metroid Prime Trilogy is almost $200 new. A new copy of Ocarina of Time goes for upwards of $300. Mass Effect Collector's Editions are super high priced ($600 for new copies).
Yes.
Great RPGs with high demand and short production runs always causes this. People just want to play the game.

You can buy it for $42 on Amazon. It's still expensive, but it's much better than the $90 people were charging a few years ago.
Uhh, the $70 Zelda bundle that is currently selling for $100-$170 on Amazon? Or the free collector's Edition disk that goes for $50-$200? I don't think that example did what you were hoping it would.
I should downvote for piracy, but I'll let you off this time. Today is your lucky day. Buy it. http://www.amazon.com/Legend-Zelda-Skyward-Remote-Nintendo-Wii/dp/B002I0GEHI/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1322693372&sr=8-2

Here's a game you can try: Okami. It should be simple and intuitive enough to play, and the feel/look of the game is nothing short of beautiful. Story-wise there is a lot of text, but if he can get around that with the visual clues then there should be no problem. There are a couple of annoying points in the game, but overall it was really fun to play and has many good concepts that young people in general should learn.
So, what, we just throw down our wishlist here? I'm cool with that.
Don't feel like you have to get me a damn thing. You don't. But if you do, and you don't know what to get, you can pull from this list. Easy peasy! Also, thanks!
Amazon has "world" version of Chronicles for $59 right now. It works with US Wii's and Wii U's. I picked it up for $52 a few months ago and it was definitely worth it.
Please just use the tried in true method of using an SD Card + Brawl. Nintendo is still distributing Brawl at a reasonable price, so you really have no excuse.
Here is a tip
If you can't find a retailer I suggest buying it online :)
That's actually a good deal
You're lucky you could even get it a month ago; It's out of print. Look how much it is on amazon.
$30? $30 is expensive to you?
http://www.amazon.com/XenoBlade-Chronicles-Nintendo-Wii/dp/B007RNWUC4/ref=sr_1_1?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1426111848&sr=1-1&keywords=xenoblade+chronicles
Edit: Smart assery aside. Supply and demand.
I'm surprised it's so expensive in America... it's $50 standard at EB Games, and EB is generally considered the most expensive of all our game retailers.
HOLY FUCKING CHRIST WHAT ON GOD'S GREEN EARTH!?
WHY IS IT SO FUCKING EXPENSIVE?
As I said in the description, only looking for N64 stuff unless the trade is heavily in my favor. Also, Skyward Sword Bundle New costs $200
This thread convinced me to pick up the game. It's priced at $15 at Amazon.
Okami is the best non-Zelda Zelda-esque game.
It is on the Wii, linked below, but an HD re-release is coming to the XBox One in December.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B002ATY7JE/ref=dp_olp_all_mbc?ie=UTF8&condition=all
$14 after shipping. I consider this dirt cheap for a game of Galaxy's quality.
$20 new, free shipping with Prime or larger orders, is also kinda dirt cheap for a Nintendo flagship title.

FYI, Amazon has it available for pre-order now.
Looks like Metroid Prime Trilogy is available for $90 used on Amazon? Yikes.
That's pretty crappy, we can get metroid prime here for £50 ($76) which is at least a bit better
The last official collection that contained all of them was Super Mario All-Stars, as far as I know, on the Wii. The Wii U was fully backward compatible, and would be able to play the game.
Nononononono! Get this!
http://www.amazon.com/Legend-Zelda-Skyward-Remote-Nintendo-Wii/dp/B002I0GEHI
Its only single player so you really only need 1 motion plus controller, and this pack gets you the nifty Zelda controller and the game. In Australia, its actually cheaper to buy the limited ed pack than getting a motion plus controller and the game. (I think.)
It's all about luck. You have to call all of your local stores to see if they still have any in stock. If not, you can buy them off of Amazon, but since it's past the release date the cheapest one you're going to find is $108.
http://www.amazon.com/Legend-Zelda-Skyward-Remote-Nintendo-Wii/dp/B002I0GEHI/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1321846448&sr=8-2

ZombiU - Nintendo Wii U by UBI Soft http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00897Z27C/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_irvyub0HGEANT
This one, I believe? I actually got this edition when it first came out...for about 50 USD. I'm surprised it's so expensive now.
Uh what are you talking about? It's $60 on Amazon as well and there were reprints of the game recently being passed around.
Well there is this:

Well it's not exactly a gorilla but Donkey Kong is close right?
guerilla gorillas
Uno
Dos
They aren't realistic prices, some games are just inflated out the wazzoo on Amazon.
They re-released all three games as the Metroid Prime Trilogy in 2009 for Wii. Maybe a digital re release is a possibility but not a virtual console release. It's about $80 used on Amazon right now.

FYI: Metroid Prime Trilogy is worth a lot of money now.
SMG is now part of the nintendo selects and can be purchased for $20 new and sealed. He is trying to sell it for more than what it is worth new, therefore he is indeed white.

it's $12.50 delivered for new on amazon right now.
I get taken here. I can probably hunt down a copy on local shelves as well .
It is a limited edition it turns out so yeah it's out of print. There were only so many made in the first place. There are still many copies available.
Don't count on finding it much cheaper, it used to cost a lot more actually. The cheapest I ever saw it was between 45-50 dollars. It's actually 55 dollars new on amazon, of course this is for the reprint. (but that only matters if you're a picky collector)

not really..

Nope, here's the cheapest copy available.
The one with the golden wii mote is over $200 already
I just don't understand why it's so expensive already. It seems really early for it to be collectible.
ahem Take a look at the price, if he sells just one at the going rate, he'd nearly break even on the investment.
