Quick Notice: I originally posted this a few days ago but was deleted at 20k with no reason 😞 - I want to clarify, this app is totally free, contains no ads, it was made purely for fun and I'd love for more people to enjoy this little tribute to a series I'm a big fan of.

Hey all!

I made a completely free working Meme Review game for Alexa. You can vote on all the memes featured in meme review and see the average rating based on other people's votes!

UK Link: https://www.amazon.co.uk/LiamSorta-Meme-Review/dp/B07NCCVLF5/

US Link: https://www.amazon.com/LiamSorta-Meme-Review/dp/B07NCCVLF5/

India Link: https://www.amazon.in/LiamSorta-Meme-Review/dp/B07NCCVLF5

Or just type "Meme Review" into Amazon πŸ‘ŒπŸ‘Œ

Oh, and every session ends with a call to sub to pewdiepie - let's get this to the front page of Alexa! (Feel free to leave a rating too! Let's bring that sub gap to 100k)

If you are feeling nice, a reviewπŸ‘ on Amazon helps a lot!

I played through two escape rooms from Escape the Room by Stoked Skills LLC and I played one other room from a different skill but I forget the name. They were all good, a nice change of pace from the few real escape rooms I've done. They were not timed and since I was the only participant it wasn't nearly as chaotic as a normal escape room is.

I mainly enjoyed the rooms. I liked how easy it was to play, they were pretty intuitive as well. I would recommend giving them a try for the experience, and I'd probably rate it 3.5 or 4 stars out of 5. The biggest flaws (and areas for improvement) I encountered were:

  1. The solutions weren't really a puzzle, the escape rooms could be cleared simply by looking at every object in the room to find items, then systematically using those items on each other object in the room (of which there were only a few). So there wasn't a lot to actually "solve".

  1. Every time you wanted to do something, you had to say which direction to look, wait for Alexa to describe the direction, then say that you wanted to (for example) use the key on the locked door. When going back and forth between objects in different directions, that was a real hassle. When there is only one instance of an item in the room, I wish I could've just interacted with it without having to go through all those steps.

Hi /r/stardewvalley! OP here. Wanted to share a project my friend Wayne and I have been working on for the past few months: a voice assistant for Stardew Valley. (We got permission from the mods to post about it)

A bit about us: we met at Etsy.com and really liked working together. We decided to quit our jobs to build something we loved. After exploring a couple projects, we realized what we really loved was video games. Since we didn't know how to make a game, we decided to build tools for gamers.

About the project: We love the story, freedom, creativity, and depth of Stardew. We've both felt the pain of having to alt-tab to the wiki to figure out where to find a certain character (so you can complete that quest before time runs out!) or accidentally giving someone the wrong gift and hurting your friendship. We use voice assistants in other areas of our lives - so why not for games?

How it works: connect to the assistant (we named it "GA") on Discord, Alexa, or Google Assistant, ask about something and get an answer back in seconds. We have 8000+ answers in the system so far and adding new ones all the time based on questions people ask.

Try it out: We've been testing GA with a few dozen folks but wanted to expand it to a larger group for further refinement. Please give it a whirl and let us know what you think!

  • Video demo
  • Try it on Discord (join our server)
  • Try it on Alexa ("Hey Alexa, ask Midgame what are Leah's favorite gifts?")
  • Try it on Google Assistant ("Hey Google, Ask Midgame G.A. how much corn sells for")

Here's a list of the question types we support so far. We recently redid schedules (which can be really tricky)

    Gifts

  • What are Shane’s favorite gifts?
  • Who likes chocolate cake?
  • When is Alex's birthday?

    Recipes / Upgrades

  • How do I make pizza?
  • How do I get a big barn?

Schedules (we only support dateable villagers currently)

  • Where is Haley on Tuesdays in the Fall at 3pm?
  • Where is Elliot on Saturdays in the Summer at 8pm?

    Locations

  • Where does Emily live?
  • When is the carpenter open?

    Buying / Selling

  • How much do potatoes sell for?
  • How much does cauliflower sell for?

    Fishing

  • What are the best add ons for my fishing rod?
  • Where can I catch Tuna?

Random game info (this can be hit or miss)

  • How many eggs do I need to win the egg hunt?
  • What can I do in the greenhouse?
  • How do I get a prismatic shard?

First of all, I wouldn't use the word investment in this context ever, as clearly games/consoles bought are depreciating assets barring the rare exception for collectors in 10+ years; whose value are relatively worthless considering the time accrued. But for what you are really asking, if the switch has good perceived value among the general consensus of /r/nintendoswitch subrscribers, then yes, it does. I'm only partially trolling you, this is good info here.

As a gaming system, consoles really only add value in a few ways. Hardware design/functionality, exclusives, consistency in quality, software features, & form factor.

While graphics are important, console spaces should not factor in bleeding edge graphics as it's highest priority as there is always a bigger, more expensive fish. A consistent framerate in games on that ecosystem (ideally 60) will matter more in the long run.

So let's compare the two ecosystems in question: Xbox & Switch

Switch, while performing weaker, innovates in functionality. Partially from offering choice in portability, partially from having detachable gyro equipped controllers. The Xbox has no innovation in hardware for the end user (better power distribution doesn't make One X create new gameplay experiences) , barring great refinements in conventional controller layouts.

Switch has a SHIT ton more exclusives than Xbox, despite a huge gap in console lifecycle. Consistent quality is inherently at the behest of third party developers in the Xbox ecosystem. Basically, if you can play it on Xbox you can play it on pretty much anything including your Alexa enabled direct connection to three letter agencies. It's not special.

The Switch ecosystem shows a big fuck you to the end user for backward compatibility or appreciation for old titles. It's basically up to third party developers to port their games to Switch. Xbox on the other hand loves the shit out of everything they have ever served; even their garbage, as confirmed by the backwards compatibility of Dorito's Crash Course.

So here's how you figure this out. Ask yourself the following. Do I like new Nintendo exclusives being playable while I dump more than I like playing Far Cry: I live in the Middle of Nowhere Edition? Do I like ignoring the awkward family event conversation while playing indies, or do I like avoiding those events all together in my basement playing horny wrastling girlz, X360 exXclusive Edition 12 years after it released? But maybe, consoles are just a box that play games to you, and none of the factors listed really matter. If you just want to play popular third party games in your basement, the Switch is not a good value.

The choice is yours.

I'm so sorry to hear about your mom's vision loss, and I hope Alexa can help keep her engaged and entertained! In addition to what's already been mentioned, here are some skills she might like:

  • NPR Wait Wait Quiz - "Alexa open wait wait quiz" -- this lets her play a weekly version of the quiz on NPR's Wait Wait Don't Tell Me show, and it's a fun way to keep up with the news.
  • You Choose Global Discovery - "Alexa, open global discovery" - This was designed to teach history to kids, but if she's a history buff, she might enjoy it. It's a choose-your-own adventure story model that lets you choose from different time periods like Oregon trail, westward expansion, and the golden age of pirates. The Oregon Trail story line is free, but you have to pay for an expansion pack to play the other story lines.
  • Who Wants to be a Millionaire - "Alexa, open who wants to be a millionaire" - It's a quiz game based on the popular TV show with new content daily.
u/rokasj Β· 2 pointsr/amazonecho

I would definitely recommend to try out "Would you rather?" to find out some things about your friends you might have not found out otherwise. While something more education or fun would be "True or False?" where you learn new facts in an engaging way and you can even play in multiplayer! We worked very hard developing these games and so I would extremely grateful for the feedback and how we could make it better for you!

u/brandonnourse Β· 2 pointsr/halloween

Hey guys! If you have kids and an Amazon Alexa device, I designed a kids game called Spooky Says! It's a fun and spooky version of the popular Simon Says game! Here's the link to enable in the Amazon Skills store if interested (it's completely free btw): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07J3B9NS9/ref=sr_1_14?s=digital-skills&ie=UTF8&qid=1538860597&sr=1-14&refinements=p_n_date%3A14284925011 Happy Halloween everyone!

u/Nalapops Β· 3 pointsr/CasualUK

It's pretty much just the game but alexa instead of noel! https://www.amazon.co.uk/Vocala-co-Deal-Or-No/dp/B07MZ94ZSS you have to enable it, been a while since I used it but it was pretty fun when we played last.

u/theFavbot Β· 13 pointsr/OutOfTheLoop

Skyrim has to this day been released on 6 different platforms, but many of these releases cane after initial launch so it’s been a joke for a while that the game will release on every platform known to mankind.

So you might see it being launched on a Game Boy Color or an Apple Watch, or even a graphing calculator (though it hasn’t actually been released on those platforms).

A 7th platform is the joke that Amazon pulled by releasing the game on Amazon Alexa: https://www.amazon.com/Bethesda-Game-Studios-Special-Edition/dp/B07D6STSX8/ref=nodl_
So even Amazon joined in on that joke.

It just seems the meme is making it’s rounds again... and it’ll be back when they release it on ANOTHER platform.

u/alexcg00 Β· 1 pointr/amazonecho

Hey there, I just released my first ever game on Alexa, I'd really appreciate it if you could check it out and let me know what you think. It's completely free to play.

Enjoy!!

u/fingertoe11 Β· 1 pointr/chess

I get an error when I open it.

I love making chess960 generators to learn any programming language I am interested in. It is a hard enough problem that you actually get to learn something, but it is easy enough that you can easily accomplish it.

I wrote an alexa skill in javascript.. https://www.amazon.com/Fingertoe-Labs-Random-Chess/dp/B01M0VZSZI

u/galactoise Β· 2 pointsr/AmazonEchoDev

Absolutely. My skill CompliBot just hit the "Top Skills" slider for this week, and it's super simple. It has a bunch of features that other similar skills don't have, and it's much more polished, so it stands out in that regard, but compared to something like 6 Swords by TsaTsaTzu (or even my skill AstroBot) it's trivial.

This has been the case since the very beginning of the platform - it's hard to get people to engage in a meaningful way. Basically, throwing darts and seeing what sticks with small scale skills seems to be a reasonable strategy.

u/Jewkesy Β· 1 pointr/Alexa_Skills

I really like this concept! I'm happy for you to review mine if you like - Popcorn Quiz - a movie-based trivia quiz.

The code is open source on Github

Have fun!

u/CyborgChicken- Β· 4 pointsr/PS4

Yeah you can play a version of it. It's gimmicky. Was fun trying it out when I first got my Echo Dot.

u/Rigshaw Β· 2 pointsr/MonsterHunterWorld

We've got Skyrim Special Edition, Skyrim Very Special Edition (you can actually play it on Alexa), and Skyrim VR. You could maybe count Skyrim for Nintendo Switch as well, since that is a somewhat unique version, so we are already up to Skyrim V.

u/TheAmazingJuicyBeast Β· 3 pointsr/fo3

Tod Howard did entertain the idea in 2009 stating:

> I think that the world of Fallout is unique enough that it could work on any platform. I think some of the things we do like VATS, I think that could translate to any platform, particularly the iPhone, We've looked into those things, we just haven't found the thing that supports the brand well. I wouldn't be surprised if it does happen one day. The iPhone versions that we've designed and said 'Ehh, we don't think we're going to do that right now,' there are ... there are a lot of them.

The statement is pretty vague but after Fallout Shelter's release and Skyrim coming out for Amazon Alexa who knows?

u/SreeChaitanya Β· 1 pointr/amazonecho

Hey! Check out the skill named "Letter Clutter". It's a fascinating word guessing game where you have to guess the secret four letter word with unique letters selected randomly by alexa! Do you have the deduction skills to unravel the word? Don't forget to review!

I use a skill called Fortnite Challenge Roulette on amazon through my echo.

If you have the Amazon app on your phone, you can play that way too: https://www.polygon.com/e3/2018/6/11/17448080/skyrim-alexa-iphone-android-how-to-play
