Thanks. It’s one of those things that people don’t tell you, but it can add years to the life of the putty. My boss likes to say “think like water.”

I should probably clarify that I’m only talking about 1/16 of an inch or so. It will take a little practice to match both sides. I second scoring the paint first. You can get cheap razor blade holders, but I really like this kind.

Use these magnets to help you out. Works great for solo wrapping.

Thanks man. I picked up the blades as well this decal removal spray:

I don't know how well this will work, but it's on my wishlist so I can take off some of the decals from my car too :)

I bought two rolls of this. One for the straight trims and one for the large Chrome part on the last window. Just use a hair dryer and it works nicely. https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B0118D18YE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_eTTVAbKP52SNV

So i work for a vehicle wrapping and signage business, and usually we deal this sort of stuff in the regular and my go-to liguid for jobs like this is called "rapid remover", Amazon link below And this stuff works wonders, all you need is to spray this on liberally, then give it about 5 minutes and then use some type of plastic squeegy to remove the thick glue off the door, and finally spray again and use paper towel to remove the remaining residue.

Hexane will dissolve most glues without harming plastics. It flashes off really fast though, and wear gloves, it can soak through your skin. We do vinyl graphics on signs and the adhesive removers we use work well to. Rapid remover is one. Might have to order some online. Grimco is one of my suppliers but I’ll bet amazon has some too.

yup, found it

Before you do this, I HIGHLY recommend using Rapid Tac. Otherwise, you’ll be lucky to apply it dry and not have bubbles.

I make signs for a living and I remove adhesive a lot. This stuff if your answer. It smells like oranges. Put it on and let our work for a minute and scrape up the adhesive. Done.

That's going to attach with puffy 2-sided tape. It's gonna be a LITTLE bit more difficult to remove, probably requiring some sort of plastic scraping device. I personally use a "Lil' Chizler" for stuff like that: http://www.amazon.com/Chizler-Hand-Vinyl-Wraps-Decals/dp/B0065LTR98/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1347046138&sr=8-1&keywords=lil+chizler

Other than that, should be the same. Heat, pull, (scrape), Goo Gone

Former vehicle wrap installer here. We used something like these plastic razor blades with this adhesive remover in a spray bottle in conjunction with a heat gun (hair dryer).

I'm using "Ehdis" - I think that's a generic brand?

They don't have any felt on the bottom, just a piece of plastic.

I use this Hot Blade Decal Remover (soldering iron with razor blade attached) to remove stickers and tape all the time. If there is any sticky residue left I pour some 99% isopropyl alcohol on it and it wipes right off.

Knifeless wrap cutters work well, I used this: VViViD Wrap Cut Vinyl Wrap Edge Cutting Detailer Tape 200ft (1 roll) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00L3O9OQS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_-NiWBbAEC3YZX

Hey, I wrapped my car back in May and the result was quite nice IMO.

I'll basically copy/paste the advice from the thread about it:
> Go with a good quality film, preferably cast as it's very forgiving... be careful with the heat gun, and be patient as this is incredibly frustrating work, find a helper, etc.
>
> The specific film I'm using is Oracal 970RA. I only needed one 60in10yd roll but that's without any kind of error. I suggest going with two rolls if you're new.
>
> Whenever measuring, cut yourself a bigger piece than what you actually need and you'll be fine

Use a felt edge squeegee for actually applying the vinyl.
If you don't have a heat gun just use a hair dryer, which I'm sure like any other Miata driver, you own.

Just keep in mind that you basically have to sand the fuck out of the entire car and
really well* to not have anything show up. The same rules about hiding dents/dings with paint apply to vinyl as well, as far as colors and sanding go.
