i realize i got a bit carried away.. but it was an almost 2 hours well spent. i hope you have a great day!

u/kalechipsyes · 8 pointsr/TrollXChromosomes

Please, someone w/ some money, Amazon Prime Same Day this girl the following:

Bath Pillow - so, so much more comfortable.

Overflow Drain Cover - This keeps the water level high so the body feels more buoyant and is more covered.

OP, if your water heater is pretty efficient, and you don't pay for hot water, you can also consider keeping the tap always running a tiny bit so the bathwater stays high and warm, nye indefinitely. If you gauge it right, the overflow drain won't ever let it overflow and you've got nothing to lose but tension.

Wishing you comfort and coziness, OP.

I used something that looked similar to this. The one I used is called 2x3 (2in to 3in) Floor Drain (used in showers). Those bolts you see are go through the drain holes to give it a secure fitting. Basically I went into home depot and just browsed through their piping section and that is what I came up with. In the particle board I drilled holes through so I could mount the bolts and used a larger bit to make holes so some of the bolts could sit flush. Those four bolts that extrude on the outside just go into the mounting pattern on the HOTAS so it can sit in place there.

/u/Super206 seems to use a "floor flange" to accomplish what I did using drain covers.

If you have any questions, or want me to clarify let me know and I'll do my best to help!

u/BelatedBlade · 1 pointr/mildlyinfuriating

Chances are you can remove them. It’s a cover that they put on to fit with the aesthetic of the bathroom. Use a bent clothes hanger or carefully lever it out with a pen/pencil. Then pop one of these in. Be sure to check the sizing. If it’s a standing shower and the drain is in smack dab in the center, you can probably fit one of these under it to help.

u/dragonalighted · 1 pointr/HomeImprovement

The accordion ones are the worst. I have used Snappy Trap and was pleased with it.

The important distinction is this is flexible but not compressible. The hoses do not get shorter, and the interior is smooth so no gunk build up, but it's flexible enough to give you some wiggle room. I used the kitchen sink kit and it worked great and gave me a good amount more space under the sink.

Obviously your mileage may vary, but I will never do an accordion pipe again, but this I've had no issues with.

You can change the water quickly and easily with one of these http://www.amazon.com/Aqueon-Aquarium-Water-Changer-Feet/dp/B000YAJKL6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1409009786&sr=8-1&keywords=aquarium+water+changer

It hooks up to your faucet and uses a venturi to suck the water out of the tank. Turn a valve to fill the tank. Done.

If you are cheap like me you can make your own out of a water bed water changer and some hardware store fittings and garden hose. Works great!

I bought this one http://www.amazon.com/Rps-dfk-Waterbed-Drain-fill/dp/B000FT2PUO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=undefined&sr=8-1&keywords=waterbed++drain+fill

This one has a better picture http://www.amazon.com/Waterbed-Mattress-Fill-Drain-Kit/dp/B001QTMTNA/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1409009927&sr=8-3&keywords=waterbed++drain+fill

Anyone try the reusable version? Is it any good?

And a somewhat more pleasant video of the NSFL removal featuring an attractive woman.

u/Sirius_Starr · 1 pointr/traaaaaaannnnnnnnnns

I have one of these (I'm sure other brands work every bit as well) now and it actually works great for the shower. Much better than having to unclog drains every month.

u/thegreybush · 1 pointr/DIY

for an easy solution, you could go with something like this dome grate. The obvious downside to that it sticks up in the middle of your sidewalk.

A better option would be to saw off the last few inches of the sidewalk panel and add a trench drain. This would give you significantly more surface area and reduce the likelihood of clogging. I'm picturing something like this drain that I saw in an episode of Ask This Old House

u/Phate4569 · 1 pointr/HomeImprovement

It is generally recommended that you do not plant directly adjacent to a house, as it promotes water being held in the soil, and bug infestations.

Also you have that NICE gravel walk way there. You could easily* install a good looking french drain along the house side of it and carry any water away from the house.

u/kingrattus · 2 pointsr/turtle

Don't get the python, get a water bed one. Its the same darn thing and it costs $4!!! lol You just need to have your own garden hose, which you can buy for cheap and get the length you want.

Stopped using that style of system a couple years ago. We now have a pond pump connected to a garden hose. We put the pump into the tank to drain the water & then we use the "python/water bed thingy to put water back in OR we just screw a garden hose onto the tap OR we use the pond pump inside a bucket in the sink to push water into the tank. For us, it really depends which floor we are working on.

The basement has the hot/cold taps for a washer leading to a Y which connects to a garden hose that goes up into the rafters. We have 1000 gallons of water to deal with, so this was best for us and it keeps the hose out of the way.

EDIT: Its the large blue piece. I bought a few at Walmart but here is an image from Amazon http://www.amazon.ca/Drain-Innomax-Waterbed-Flotation-Mattress/dp/B005XST1M2/ref=sr_1_2?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1420912780&sr=1-2&keywords=waterbed+Fill+and+Drain

I think this is the same but for cheaper http://www.amazon.ca/Rps-Dfk-Waterbed-Drain-Fill/dp/B000FT2PUO/ref=pd_sim_k_5?ie=UTF8&refRID=17Y2JJSR56YATAW2JEEB

Please note I was using Amazon Canada.

You pretty much lose around the same amount of hairs. Only difference is that you probably have short hair so you don't notice. When I had long hair that's when I realized it.

Best solution is to buy a different type of drain so the hair won't go down the drain.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00EU6HB9S/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?qid=1458801590&sr=8-2&pi=SY200_QL40&keywords=bathroom+hair+drain&dpPl=1&dpID=41Y2KIj0VbL&ref=plSrch&dpPl=1&dpID=41Y2KIj0VbL&ref=plSrch

There are many different types of styles

For a stand, I use a 3M Command hook that I bought at Walmart and have stuck on the wall beside my desk. Is it pretty? No. But who cares? 6 bucks on Amazon

As for a case, what is "nicely priced"? How about this one? Just $28

u/miken79 · 1 pointr/INEEEEDIT

Had it, never that easy to clean. Got https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EU6HB9S now, MUCH easier to clean and drains faster.

u/-nonetensnaresme- · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I’ve heard these work great for catching hair. I was actually looking into them myself because we are a family with three girls (the 3 boys don’t shed so much) and I just pulled a huge clump of hair out of our shower drain yesterday.

u/[deleted] · 1 pointr/microgrowery

I ended up grabbing one of these. Should fit pretty well in my 3' x 3' but I guess I will find out. Those flood tables online are insanely priced. $200 for a tray? No thanks.

u/ImRightImRight · 2 pointsr/homeowners

You could likely clean the corrugated black pipe with a standard drain snake or one of these "drain king" decloggers.

Thanks for tipping me off to the existence of the triple wall pipe.

u/Major_CharlieFoxtrot · 1 pointr/houston

Get a faucet to hose adapter for a water bed. Hook it up and spray down your car. When I was a kid a guy at our apartment would do this every Friday. Wasn't until I was older that I realized this guy was a genius.

I'm pretty sure that's what ya need. Plus a garden hose and nozzle.

I have the dollar store version of this.

Works great in our Jacuzzi tub. Both my wife and I have long hair, so it’s definitely necessary!

u/dreamsofaninsomniac · 3 pointsr/LifeProTips

You might try the Hairstopper instead: https://www.amazon.com/Evriholder-HS-Hs-Hairstopper/dp/B0063KXYAY/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8

I think it's easier to clean out than The Mushroom since hair doesn't wrap around the bottom part like it does on The Mushroom. I think there will always be goop if it stays wet. I take it out and clean it after I use it so it has time to dry out, and there isn't any goop. The white plastic does yellow over time, but it still works.

u/reven80 · 1 pointr/HomeImprovement

I've been looking to switch out to a magnetic drain stopper as there are fewer points for things to clog up. Furthermore I think you can pull out the stopper and have clear access to clean it.

Kanaldeckel = manhole cover so not really what you are looking for :-)

What you are looking for is an Abflusssieb (literal translation = drain sieve). You can get it here for example https://www.amazon.de/OXO-Good-Grips-1395500-Badewannen-Abflusssieb/dp/B00EU6HB9S/ref=pd_sim_201_4

If you are looking for a brick and mortar store a Baumarkt (Obi, Hornbach, etc.) are a good bet.

u/IAmBellerophon · 3 pointsr/Multicopter

I've got these rubber ones which are great, too

u/paxtana · 1 pointr/ebikes

You could use an xt60 female and a male/male adapter on the charger instead to mate the two female ends.. safer but still prone to water damage etc.

Ideally you could use xt60 caps like this

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01FUOFZE6/

Though personally I just use a piece of black electrical tape on the tip when not in use.

u/the-empty-page · 2 pointsr/Enough_Sanders_Spam

I have used this and this in the past. The first one works better because it has smaller holes in it.

u/wisaaka · 3 pointsr/HomeImprovement

When hair starts to slow our shower drain, I use something like this.

u/chrisfromthelc · 1 pointr/pics

They make tubs (usually referred to as "deep soak" tubs) for this purpose.

You can also get something like this: https://www.amazon.com/WBDeals-COMIN16JU039478-Bathtub-Overflow-Drain/dp/B0172HALE8 to buy you a couple of more inches, but the hole on tub may not be big enough to actually drain enough to prevent overflow.

u/iamkoloss · 1 pointr/AskMen

Drain King saved me $15k. 3 plumbers and someone from the water department all said that the main drain pipe at my house must’ve collapsed when it backed up... nope. It was frozen, and some hot water through this bad boy fixed it.

u/MelonFancy · 1 pointr/funny

The metal ones don't get as gross imo.

u/PorkyPickle · 2 pointsr/HomeImprovement

Damn, so no easy solution. Well, thank you very much for your time and reply! Also, this is the landlords handy work. SMH.

Also: To elaborate on the crafstmanship of the landlord: I complained to him that this was hazardous and not very safe to have. So he comes over with a drain cover, and tries to drill into the ceramic floor through the rubber edge of the drain cover, cracking the tile, and as you see, patching the cracked tile with that substance. It's pretty infuriating.
