I'm very proud of the opening line to my new novella “Tiny, Big.” It is “Why would I want my arms and legs cut off? That seems a bit extreme even for me.”

If that doesn't make you want to turn the page, nothing will.

Never fear gentle reader no legs and arms were harmed and the creation of the story. As is often the case with all great works of literature this story was inspired by a porn photo. You can see the photo by following this link. The actresses involved are 5 foot tall Penny Pax and 5 foot 11 inch Dylan Ryan. The image is clearly created to appeal to fans of lesbian macrophilia and microphilia, along with fans of lesbian bondage, lesbian sex, and general perversion.

Wait … what? “What are macrophilia and microphilia?” you almost certainly may ask.

Macrophilia is being sexually attracted to someone who is very tall. Microphilia is being sexually attracted to someone who is very short. Interestingly, there does not appear to be any term for finding images of very large and very short women having sex appealing.

But there is a subreddit for it named r/samespecies. Wouldn't you know it, a subreddit would exists for a perversion long before it even had a name? R/samespecies is full of images of very short and very tall women standing next to one another, generally just smiling at a camera, sometimes nude, more often clothed, though there ARE occasionally pics of naked women of different size having sex.

I've found that the Your Fantasies Unlimited format works very well with porn images to create short porn stories and novellas. And I'd like to claim that the Dylan Ryan/Penny Pax image alone was responsible for the plot of “Tiny, Big.” And it is a very evocative image, especially expressions on Penny and Dylan's faces – they really know how to act bondage.

But I have to admit, I had another source of inspiration, the work of the Swedish artist known only on Grigbertz. Here's his website with lots of drawings. Grigbertz's stories almost always have a theme of short women, often elfin and ALWAYS naked and in bondage, generally with a mythical medieval background. Here's a very nice example of Grigbertz's artwork that fits what I've described.

In one of Grigbertz's storylines, women who don't reach a certain height by age 18 (or whatever the age of consent in Sweden is) are enslaved. The women are standard Grigbertz tinies, and they are enslaved by taller men and women, who molest them, much to everyone's great pleasure, including the tinies.

Well say no more. I didn't exactly copy Grigbertz's mythology, because what fun would that be? And in Grigbertz's case, it would be hard because his text is fragmentary and not well developed, based on what I've seen. Being a writer, I tend more toward text, for whatever reason. And I work out my ideas in greater detail. But Grigbertz's skill in communicating his fantasies with a few pencil lines is not to be ignored.

In the magical land of Corliandra, human beings are divided into three different body types: Tinies, three to four feet tall, averaging 3'6”, Normies who run five to 6 and a half feet tall, in short, human beings as we know them on Earth, for the most part, and Bigs, who grow to eight to nine feet tall, averaging eight and a half feet tall. Tinies, Normies and Bigs are not distinct species at all, they can interbreed. Tiny mothers can have Big children, Big mothers can have Tiny children, and the same with Normies. It's just a matter of which genes are dominant, with about one in five humans being Tinies, one in five being Bigs, and three in five being Normies.

All three groups get along together fine, because of the interbreeding. Most families are a mix of Tinies, Normie's and Bigs to one extent or another, especially large families.

This, the protagonist Laura is a Tiny, has a Normie brother, a Tiny mother and a Big father. And the protagonist Gina is a Big, with a Normie brother (just a coincidence) and a Big father and a Tiny mother. Both families are happy and healthy and love one another (though Normie brothers can be annoying, whether you are a Big or a Little).

The fact that both Laura and Gina have Tiny mothers and Big fathers is not coincidence: by tradition from time immemorial, Bigs sexually enslave Tinies when they turn 18. It's not an ironclad thing: sometimes Tinies enslave Bigs and sometimes Normies enslave Bigs, etc. etc. But mostly Bigs enslave Tinies, because that's how most Corliandrans are wired. Literally, they are magically/instinctively compelled to do these things, and to love one another afterward. (God, fantasy makes character-building easy. Why do they do it? Magic!)

The excitement of the action in Corliandra depends on Laura and Gina's relationship, what kind of fun sexual things they get up to and how they respond to them. But there's also the Your Fantasies Unlimited action in the real world. It turns out that things that happen in the fantasy world of Corliandra have some effect in the real world, and gives me some fun playing off my real-world characters against their fantasy world counterparts.

I guess what I'm saying is, get this book, or rent it using Kindle Unlimited (for free, in essence). It's one of my best works ever.

BDSM is what you make of it. There's hundreds of kinks and you have to find what works for you. Maybe look into The New Topping and New Bottoming Books.

Now a few terms from me that you should know: Look up the safety and video tutorials of everything you try with risk, (not porn), even 'light' bondage or cuffs could cause nerve damage if tied wrong or left too long. Recommend getting safety shears. Never leave a tied person alone or try to sleep like that. Feeling numbness or tingling get free immediately.

Start small, maybe each type out an ideal 500 word fantasy for the two of you and go from there. As for the rest, roll with it and laugh it sounds like a bad porn script or is weird.

Top: Person performing an action in a scene.

Bottom: Person receiving an action in a scene.

Dominant-Dom (Domme/Domina for females): Person who has agreed to take control of the scene and commanding the sub within limits of both people. More mental then physical though both are important.

Submissive (sub): Person who consents to not be equals in a scene and do what the dominant wants. Within established limits and agreed activities. Random surprises in a scene are not a good idea.

Switch: People who like to both Dom/Domme and sub depending on their mood and/or type of scene. Switching mid-scene is more rare but can be done with couples who know each other well.

Not all Tops are Doms/Dommes and not all subbing is from the bottom. For example a girlfriend could be a Domme but like to be spanked. In that case she would tell her boyfriend exactly when/where/with what/how hard/how often to spank her. The boyfriend is a Sadist Top, doing the spanking but only to obey her, the Masochist Domme. He might wear a leash she can pull on to remind him whose in charge.

Communication and aftercare are needed with your partner to prevent this in both of you. Drop can sometimes hit a few days later so monitor yourself. Personal experience: first scenes on a Friday night, drop didn't hit until Monday night/Tuesday morning, I needed to sleep it off. Irritable for no reason and out of step with the rest of the world, felt like a bad day no matter where I went.

Let me be clear about punishments and funishments. Punishments are something the sub honestly hates that are done for breaking a rule/protocol. But they can STILL safeword out if they feel unsafe or the Dom isn't listening to why they broke the rules. Not all punishments are sexual it could be boring like writing lines 100 times. One of the hardest lessons for new submissives to understand is that Dominants are not mind readers. My husband and I transitioned into D/s together and I remember this struggle all too well. I honestly think it sold well because 1) the girl is hot and in a bikini, 2) the colors just fucking pop. There's almost nothing fancy about this cover at all. The only fancy thing is the text going behind her head, which is a basic Photoshop trick that I do on a lot of covers to make the text look less "thrown on". Your cover has b/w and select colors showing, but those colors don't pop. Orange and red clash, and the white/black/red text is nearly unreadable. Especially in thumbnail view is browsing and also boughts, your title is going to be nearly illegible. Try using that same image, don't cut off her face, leave the color in the image, and choose font colors that pop and complement the colors of the image (just look at a color wheel and choose colors across from each other). I also think your text on top and bottom is a bit too close to the top/bottom margins. You need to leave a little bit more negative space. Your pen name is also too close to left/right margins.
   
   
3. I like your blurb. "Tall, dark and desirable, he promises to fulfill her every desire," would be my main nitpick due to repetition of "desire." Your tagline in the look inside about "Outside this room you are Darcy..." is really nice and attention grabbing. I would bold it and put it at the top of your blurb. I think "Lucius" makes it fairly clear he's black, but you might want to make it even more clear. You say "dark," but in erotica and romance, "dark" is often a codeword for dubcon, and you are doing slightly dubcon style stuff here, so people may not realize straight away that Lucius is black.
   
   
4. The writing looks mostly good. The dialogue is a tad on the nose, but that can be an acceptable stylistic choice since it's not super on the nose.

They have a few books out, which are not bad. They do workshops, too. They're mostly geared toward western-style, 50's era cotton rope aesthetic bondage(as opposed to japanese bondage which actually has little to zero true knots) and maybe more soft-core players, or at least entry level, but you can learn a lot from them and expand with a bit of creativity.

Personally, I'm looking forward to eventually getting this collection of books for myself - they're some of the most comprehensive available, from what I understand.

Also, for safety, I do have this book and appreciate it as a solid primer for understanding some health and safety issues in kinky play. The rope section is the most relevant to me, but the rest is interesting reading. Funny enough, I bought the book after I caused temporary nerve damage to a friend's hand from doing a tie described in a book written by Mistress Midori... I had gone on the stockroom.com forums to ask for advice on where to find such a book and who was the one to respond to my request? Midori herself. Even now, I believe it was fault of the tie design, not my miss-handling. Irony.

I'm brand new at this, so I don't have much to add other than your cover is great, and a little proofreading.

You use "loose" when you mean "lose" twice, "trusts" where you mean "thrusts" once, and drop into first person a few times even though the rest is in third. These are things that pull me out of a story.

If I were you I would search your manuscript for the following terms: Loose, Our, I, trusts, and Us. (See how it makes me stop reading? I made a list. Haha. Just trying to be helpful.) That should make making your corrections quick and painless.

I really like Abigail Barnette's Bossverse series. It's BDSM erotica written in response to the popularity of 50 Shades of Grey. (The BDSM elements are more pronounced, and the protagonists are actually respectful of each other.)

If you don't think you know how to do it properly, you need to tell her a head of time, and talk about how to proceed. Maybe make it a practice before you get deep into a scene. You can always focus on the other kinky stuff that you feel more confident about. Explore safely, sanely and consensually. And means being honest about your skill level.

I wonder if anybody else remembers it. Was probably written about 2003ish.

Owning Regina by Lorilie Elstrom. Shows the process of self-discovery as well as the growth of a relationship - including mistakes. The Boss series is pretty popular and has a much healthier relationship than 50 Shades. It has BDSM involved and some of it is much harsher than 50 Shades as well.

The second book gets a little heavy (medical issues) so it can be a tough read.

Not YA, but The Boss series by Abigail Barnett is the alternative I always offer people. It's a feminist, consensual, BDSM relationship, has queer characters, and is very well written. Also the first one is free on Kindle.
