So I happened across this reddit and I'm hoping you guys can help me in my search for multipacks of reasonably priced all black boxer shorts. Size XL. All pairs in black. No other colors. For some damn reason these are unbelievably difficult to find and I don't know why.

First off, boxer briefs seem to have come to dominate the market for some weird reason. Personally I can't really understand the allure and having your junk pressed up against your body all the time. If I'd wanted that, I wouldn't have changed to boxers shorts when I was 10. I know it is some peoples preference but it seems to have adversely effected the boxer shorts market.

Second, these friggin companies just can't stop making multiple colors in a pack for some dumb ass reason beyond my comprehension. Who wants a rainbow of blues/greys/blacks in their underwear wardrobe? What is so difficult about making multipacks that are all the same color so men can get what they actually want?

Third, the VERY few results I have been able to find in places after several hours of searching the internet, are all significantly more expensive than they should be.

Years ago I bought several packs of Hathaway brand all black boxer shorts and they have been fantastic. They fit great, the material is soft and comfortable well breathing cotton, they don't have any big stupid brand advertisements on them. Just a small grey line around the waist band. Plus they were very reasonably priced at the time. 3 for 10 I believe. However, after many years of use, they are finally starting to wear out, and I'm looking to do a mass replacement of all my undershirts, socks, and underwear. I found very reasonably priced and well reviewed socks and undershirts in all black multipacks, but my search for boxer shorts has still been mostly fruitless. These are the best I have found so far and it would cost me $175+ to get a 4 week supply.

I guess I'd argue to the contrary - cheap Hanes are made with light and soft materials, whereas the more durable ones are usually made with thicker/stronger that isn't as comfortable.

Fit is going to differ for everybody, but I've certainly never had a problem.

As for $3 boxers, not sure where you're shopping but that's just like stock department store price. Without even looking for a sale, just first item on Amazon:

$15-$20 for a 5-pack depending on size. You can absolutely do better than that on sale too.

Here's your problem: cotton. It's really a terrible material to make underwear out of, it doesn't breathe or move around very well. I recommend a 90/10 polyester spandex mix. Try a pair and you'll never wear anything else. I got into them because of backpacking, but they are great for everyday work/relaxation/sleeping.

Example pair of Stacy Adam's Boxers Joe's Boxers makes really good ones, but I can never find them.

However, these are by far the most amazing underwear I've ever owned. They go premium with the fabric, so it's like those favorite T-Shirts that have a soft and solid feel. Fit is amazing, they have a design called the Joey Pouch that basically creates a nice little partition for your nether parts so they never get stuck to your skin.

They're not cheap, but I got my first couple pairs two years ago and I've ended up buying no less than nine pairs total by now.

I totally understand what you mean! Instead of looking up "men's lingerie", perhaps you could look for boxer-briefs in an upgraded material, such as satin?

Here are a few examples:

• This is similar to the "tightness" of Climalite. Also comes in white (so it's "bridal" haha)
  
  
• I didn't have too much luck with other satin boxer-briefs, but there's a plethora of solid-colored, striped, and checkered options, depending on what style your man is into.
  
  If you're not interested in any of these, hopefully it at least gave you some ideas of what else you can consider!

edit: as an explanation- very roomy/baggy while still keeping everything in place, and the waste-band is wide and soft, rather than having that elastic feeling. They never ride up on me, even when working out.
