    Features:

hey man, I'm nearly 32 but I've been on this forum since my mid-20's, so I've experimented with a bit, and my style has obviously changed as I've gotten older.

There's no "30 year old style." It's pretty much the same thing as in your 20s (and this extends to your 40s, too). The key is that you need to be more aware of the scenarios in which you are wearing your clothing. There's much more leeway in terms of social acceptance when you're in college, grad school, or starting your first job and going out to happy hours and socializing with other 20-somethings.

In the end, all of the same general principles on MFA still apply into your 30s and 40s, you just have to be more cognizant of your situation.

That being said, here's what I recommend:

(1) get a pair of sneakers that you can wear casually. Not running shoes... casual sneakers. I have these New Balance ML574's. I love the two-tone texture look. I wear these literally every day, all year.

  • walking the dog
  • walking to the store
  • going to a restaurant with friends (of course it depends on other factors, like the occasion, the rest of my outfit, etc.)

    (2) get a pair of versatile boots that walk the line between both casual and professional. I have a pair of Frye Walters. I love the look, but I think I would recommend some other boot as far as comfort and durability, like the MFA coveted Alden 405. I wear these a few times per week.

  • any other outfit that graduates from my sneakers above
  • when I travel for work, these are the only non-sneaker shoes I bring (business casual environment)
  • traveling for leisure, these are (usually) the only non-sneaker shoes I bring, depending on what I'm doing

    (3) Pretty much all I wear are (1) and (2), but I also work from home so I don't have to go into the office every day. That said, depending on your job and your job wardrobe, expand your collection with shoes that will help there. If you work in an office, get quality dress oxfords, play with some wingtips, or get some chelsea boots or other kinds of dress boots.

    (4) Optional: another pair of boots that are more casual. I have a pair of Golden Fox Moc toe vibram wedge. I would sort of put these as less casual than the dress boots in (2), and substitutable with sneakers (no shorts, of course). T-shirt and jeans wouldn't look good with the (2) boots, but would work with a more casual, chunky boot.

    I think that's all I got.
u/SecondTalon · 2 pointsr/RPGMaker

Full disclosure - I own 0 of the three tools.

Sakan - A $15 tool that can do everything GIMP can do, only without all of GIMP's other features. Sure, using GIMP or another image editor will require that you learn a few things about how tilesets are put together, moreso if you edit the A1 tiles, but these are easily learnable things. $15 USD is a pretty steep asking price when GIMP exists, as well as many other pixel art programs that provide greater flexibility than being custom built for MV. I see no reason to get this. If it was $5 or under - that's a different proposition but even then - would still probably skip it.

Gene - For $20 USD you can take 20 minutes to build a scene rather than 2 hours. This may matter greatly if your game is a lot of chained scenes - people using RPGMaker to make things that are more like Visual Novels will probably get a lot of mileage out of it. On the other hand, $20 is $20. This does nothing for you that you couldn't figure out on your own, this just helps the process. It's maybe more like getting a fancy screwdriver set with dozens of different heads when a basic six piece set will also get you there.

Mado - I'll admit right now that I've not spent much time messing with how windows appear and I really need to fix that. But even without knowing anything about how to do it, $10 seems high for what looks to be a very straightforward image replacer.

Since you mention the bundle, here's how I'm going to suggest you look at it -

The top tier is $50. For that, you get RPGMaker MV (which regularly goes on sale for $20-30) and Visual Novel Maker (I've not paid a lot of attention, but if it's gone on sale I can't see it going for anything other than the MV range). Dropping $25 each on them is completely reasonable and is absolutely a great deal.

For doing so, you get a shitload of free stuff. Because you have it, might as well use it, but I'll go ahead and say that a lot of the free stuff you're getting is stuff you probably wouldn't have purchased and probably won't end up using - and that's 100% okay. Because it was free crap thrown in to your $25 purchase of RPGMMV and $25 purchase of VNM.

You most likely won't catch her feeding.

We just had a litter of 6 about 2 months ago, and I only caught her feeding twice.

They feed late at night/early in the morning usually.

The absolutely best way to help the babies is keep mom healthy and happy. She knows what's best for the buns.

Keeping the box clean is important, but it doesn't have to be done daily. During the time our 6 were in the box, we cleaned it out a few times and made a new litter box for them once.

Make sure the doe has all the hay she can eat. Alfalfa is good to give her right now. And PLENTY of water. We had to start refilling our large bottle twice a day.

Something that will help the buns socially is for you to talk to them from the get go. Let them know humans are normal parts of the environment and that we're not something to be feared.

Some people like to pick them up and handle them from birth. We waited about a week before we started to take them out of their nest to have human time.

A fleece hat makes a great baby bun carrier and it keeps them warm. We'd let the little guys sleep on our chests for 15-30 minutes at a time. We tried not to go longer than that because we didn't want to upset their mom.

If you have any questions, just ask. I'm not an expert, but I've spent hours and hours and hours reading up on rabbits and reproduction so we could give our guys the best chance possible.

Btw, 6 born, 0 deaths, 3 boys, 3 girls, all happy and healthy. :)

If it is permissible, I would like to enter to win a Kindle for my parents who like to read together. If not, I would like to enter to win a Chewbacca hoodie.

If it were Opposite Day, I'd say that Girlsplaywow is a jerk. ;P

Thanks for the contest. I hope you feel better and that you do very well for your 10k race on Saturday! When I want to get pumped, I like to listen to Don't Stop Me Now. You could always go with the classic Rocky inspiration, too! Oh, yes, HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!

Hello u/r00nwit,
My name is Kara and I handcraft Secret Safe Books which are real books made into hollow books with magnetic closures, which could hold all sorts of small treasures, including of course, cash.

Some of my suggestions which are at different price points, from $39.99 - $72.99 ~

I don't know about tops, but I really, really like my Dickies Scrub pants. They're very comfortable, have held up for nearly a year with no sign of wearing down, clean easily, and can be worn in pretty much any situation. They don't really look too specifically like scrubs, so they're versatile.

As for tables, I have an oakworks table. It came with my tuition and it seems a decent quality. I like it, but haven't really shopped around for tables sense I feel more or less set for the moment.

> Any tips for a lazy runner who wants to want to cook? What're your favorite go-to easy dishes?

Stop being so lazy!!

Tips:

  • Get a sharp knife. There's nothing worse than trying to prep food with a crappy knife. I use that chef's knife for 99% of my cooking, and it will last practically forever. Get it sharpened once/year and you're good to go.
  • Plan what you want to cook in advance, and keep your pantry stocked with basics so shopping just means buying fresh meat and produce (and re-stocking as needed).

    Quick recipes/ideas:

  • Mac and Cheese. Mix in whatever you want (veggies, chicken, etc.) for a full meal.

  • Tomato Soup, really good with a grilled cheese or simple sandwich on the side + a quick green salad

  • Generally - I use a slow cooker a ton (especially in the winter) to prep food that will be ready when I get home from work (or when I finish my run, whatever). Easy way to make a bunch of good food that's ready when you are.
u/katarokkar · 1 pointr/malefashionadvice

I am torn between two bomber jackets that I've narrowed down. The Alpha Industries Men's MA-1 Slim Fit Flight Bomber Jacket and the Levi's Men's Ma-1 Flight Jacket. Both look awesome from the pictures and ratings but I would love to know if anyone here has had any experience with either of them. I'm partial to slim fits rather than the poofy jackets they traditionally come it.

Any input would be welcome. Thanks everybody.

u/dtown4eva · 2 pointsr/goodyearwelt

I don't know what price range you mean by not too expensive but here are some options.

Red Wing Moc Toe lug is a different moc toe without a wedge sole but still might be too bulky.

Thorogood has this cheaper moc toe that you might like.

Red Wing Beckman moc toe is a nice but slightly pricier option.

Irish Setter is Red Wings cheaper hunt and work label but they are all made in China. They have some other options

Or you could look into some Made in Maine handsewns for a different moc toe look. Here is a Quoddy chukka for cheap if you happen to be a 11.5

Hope this helps some.

Lightwash Jeans - $15 w/ Club Cali Code

Grand Total = $188, with room left for shipping. (I didn't include the H&M 20% off code so this could be a bit cheaper)

Edit: Also, thrifting and a tailor/sewing machine is a great alternative to the jeans. You can make this $20 cheaper by thrifting a pair of jeans and bringing them to a tailor ($8+) or having your moms taper it (priceless). With that $20, another good piece would probably be a layering piece like a camo jacket.

Osprey is pretty good. High Sierra and Victorinox make decent ones as well.

My personal recommendation will always be the Kitchen Sink from Oakley (the sunglasses company). Built to take a serious smackdown and determined to set off every metal detector in sight. That being said, mine has seen some serious use over the past 4 years and still looks pretty new. You can grab one on Amazon for under $150.

Shoes: I wear my Doc Martens. I have 3 pairs that I rotate through so they have time to breathe and reduce foot funk. Each pair has gel inserts (Dr Scholl's I think?).

Scrubs: I swear by my dickies for bottoms and tops. I've tried various brands, these are the ones I like best.

Stethoscope: I haven't needed more than the disposable ones on the unit in 5 years of behavioral health. Been in the ER for 6 months, think I've needed a good stethoscope 3 times (2 asthmatics, 3rd time for bowel sounds on an obstruction).

Edit: clarified statement to reflect needing more than disposable stethoscope

This is the backpack I use for all my stuff when I'm gaming. I absolutely love it. When I first got it I was worried it might be too large, but it isn't at all. I went from carrying at least 2 bags to every session to just my backpack every time.

backpack

It has lots of different sized pouches for all kinds of different things. It has two places to hold 2 bottles of pop. Another pouch I use for my pencils/pens and things like that, another for my dice bag and at least 3-5 more different sized "pouches". Inside there is a dedicated spot for my laptop/tablet and tons of room for any books and whatnot I need for the night.

u/SD883 · 1 pointr/Harley

Shemagh! Its a large scarf. Many uses. Long haul on a Sportster? Then Gas Bottle. Otherwise, the hard basics are Boots, gloves, leather jacket. I'd recommend a windshield for the Sportster. Otherwise a full face helmet, or at least a 3/4 helmet with a shield. Beyond that some throw over saddle bags or a side bag Viking Bags. Beyond that, Foxcreek leather for all things leather, Revzilla for the rest. Gift cards to either would make any bike rider happy.

u/jame9259 · 4 pointsr/goodyearwelt

I've been suffering from a neuropathy of some sort (not diabetes) for about 10 years, and for 90% of the time, all I can stand to wear have been the excellent Brooks Beast Running shoes. That's been hard for this 57 year old Iowa farm boy that grew up in boots.

I settled on a pair of Thorogood American Heritage work boots, and after a relatively uncomfortable afternoon of break in, they've been extraordinary. The wedge sole has been great for my back as well, although that's not the only option. I strongly encourage anyone to give them a shot:

For my daily commute, I wear layers:

  • rain pants over my slacks (if it's rainy)
  • undershirt, Shirt, sweater, golf pullover, Visijax rainshell/windbreaker
  • Gloves (cheapo leather gloves from C21)
  • if it's really cold, my Skullcap
  • My Buff

This will work, even in pretty low temperatures (10s/20s F) with moderate wind.

The layering allows me to adjust to the local conditions pretty well. Everying fits even into relatively small bags/ knapsacks

I copped one earlier this year, sleeves are pretty puffy, but I like the way it fits.

u/TSOD · 15 pointsr/malefashionadvice

These Golden Fox Boots.

There's pretty cheap, but Goodyear welted and the leather/construction is quality (although not top-of-the-line). I own a pair of Chippewas, Bean Boots, and Iron Rangers, and these get the most compliments by far. They add some lighter colors to usual winter outfits that tend to be dark, they're big and chunky, and you'll get some solid years out of wearing them.

I really can't say enough good things about them.

u/FSAustinVO · 2 pointsr/EDC

The wallet and phone case were Christmas gifts from my girlfriend, so I wasn't sure of the exact items on Amazon. I'm pretty sure these are the correct items. The wallet is official and has the Seal of Nintendo. The phone case is just a knock off and it's nothing fancy, but still serves it's purpose and looks cool.

This would make my life easier because my research/work (graduate school) location will not let me carry a purse so I have to have a wallet that can fit in my pocket (which I don't currently have)

u/Quadly · 2 pointsr/malefashionadvice

Woah, really appreciate the detailed response! You really do utilize the bomber well in a lot of your fits.

I always see the AI slim MA-1 recommended, but the gold zippers and puffiness put me off. I do love the cut of Zara's bomber, but they don't currently have any in black. Killion offered an awesome bomber, but I missed the pre-order... Uniqlo and Gap both discontinued their black bombers. I really just want one with silver zippers and a matte or wool finish.

So currently I've been refreshing Grailed every day, but I still can't find the perfect one for under $150.

No, more like these

Not the same look, but those soles are better for icy/wet conditions

I got this Oakley backpack over a year ago to carry all the things I need during hikes or other outdoor activities. It has held up really well. I'm really happy with it. I mostly use the lower outside pockets for water bottles. I also used it as my carry-on for flights.

u/[deleted] · 1 pointr/AskMen

By the belt are you referring to something like this?

I've only ever used shirt stays, then I found this belt thing on Amazon and I figured. A belt certainly wouldn't randomly unsnap. Hopefully.

I have two of these: green and red, both are great.

Ok so I’m looking for moc toe boot that can service me in the winter time(Minnesotan winter to be exact). So from what I understand I’m looking for a rubber sole with lugs. I’ve been looking at mostly redwings because that’s what I know is recommended most the time.

So something like this WOUND’T work? RW Heritage Classic Moc

But his would, right? RW Moc toe Lug

or this? I’m not sure about the sole Thorogood Moc Toe tobacco

This says it’s a Vibram® Christy Blown Rubber Wedge outsole, would that work? Thorogood Moc toe brown crazyhorse

Those last two would appear to be the same damn thing, but say they have different soles.

I really like the white wedge sole, but it’s hard to commit to something that will be a liability come winter time. The price on lugged sole I’m not a fan of, but it is what it is.

The way a lot of these are described seems inconsistent to me and I can’t make heads or tails of what won’t cause me to eat shit this winter…

Also, any other boots I should be looking at?

Thanks.

EDIT: What about these?

u/chrsty · 3 pointsr/femalefashionadvice

Some pairs on Amazon are under $80! This might help.

u/clobbersaurus · 2 pointsr/malefashionadvice

I use a rubber belt style shirt stay. Other comments are correct that shirts probably fitting you properly, but for $15 these can help a lot. I go all day looking exactly how I got dressed.

So if the wolverines are made in china, would I be better off buying the Golden Foxes

Is there a marked difference in leather and construction quality?

Bet. You just saved me some money!

I need aesthetic advice. Black wedges or White?

As far as I can tell, this style hoodie isn't available for purchase anywhere. There is a shittier, less furry alternative on Amazon, but it doesn't look anywhere near as nice.

> Should I risk buying them online?

Go try them on. Seriously, find your nearest OPSM (at mine they're not behind glass so you can try them on without an attendant) or Sunglass Hut and see which width fits you best.

Once you've done that, then yes of course, as long as it's a reputable online retailer.

Also, Amazon has frequent price drops on Ray Bans (New Wayfarer for $82 plus $10 shipping) and you know they're going to be authentic if you see "Ships from and sold by Amazon.com" (the other sellers are very likely authentic but it's not guaranteed).

Does anybody know if these Thorogood boots are waterproof? My cold, wet feet will thank you.

u/Spencerforhire83 · 1 pointr/malefashionadvice

They definitely help. I remember they use to sell a silicon belt that you put over your shirt, but under your belt line, that keeps the shirt in.

I think this might be a cool alternative, I bought one for my upcoming NCOA TDY since I’m bringing my personal laptop. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00IIKJRFS/ref=pd_aw_lpo_193_bs_img_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=VM9JF00HMB9W9KWXH609

Doubt the little metal piece will set off the detector but I'm not 100% sure.

They're not always $100, but these are right here. Sometimes your size may be on sale and these are eligible for almost all of Amazon's %off shoes/boots.

I was able to get my guys the Art of Shaving starter kits for about $15 each. Each one also got funny socks that had "Worst Gift Ever" on them with a sad sock cartoon.

Those went over really well actually and they got a kick out them. Also got these old fashion cocktail kits cause we all went on the KY bourbon trail so it was fitting.

I was in the Army back when we used to always wear black boots. So I've put plenty of miles in these boots. and why I say you may want to look at actual combat boots.

Advantage is that the leather is long lasting and since they were made en-masse they are by definition cheap(as far as quality to price goes). And since they were supposed to be used to wear and tear friendly, they were made so you could easily re-sole them(especially the Corcoran Jump Boots )

Any military base close to you has cobblers (usually attached to a little Korean lady's sew shop) right off post that can re-sole the bottoms, since they are fairly stiff bottomed (steel plate in the sole to prevent punji sticks from piercing foot if stepped on)

Disadvantages: The Corcorans and most military boots have a stiffer ankle area, which you don't like. The ones that are the best for angle mobility are jungle boots They aren't BIFL, but rather BIF 2-3 years before you need to get them re-soled. Many of my friends bought them, then immediately had them re-soled so it would lose the stiff bottom and become a long lasting sneaker...

I preferred the Corcorans listed above, and will be getting a new pair as soon as my bunion surgery gets done.

But you might look at the original "GI Combat Boot"

Splits the difference between ankle mobility of Jungle Boots and BIFL-ness of Corcorans.

Last warning: Fakes / Knock-Offs

Corcorans have always been made by that single manufacturer so you don't need to worry about knockoffs (and they are the best). But the USGI Combat Boots AKA Recruit Boots and the USGI Jungle Boots have had knock off for a long time. Bad stitching, or just shittier quality materials usually. So if you see a pair that is $30-50 or seems too good to be true, pass on it. Most military boots are in the $99-200 range.

Swing by an Army Navy Store and start trying them on.
