I reaally didn't expect this to blow up while I was asleep. I appreciate everyone with the same sentiments. Alright. I've read your comments. I'm going to address all the common stuff.

If anyone cares about my pc specs and the game settings I used I'll list them at the bottom of this comment <3

  1. "WTF just get better wifi?? You don't have fiber dude? what are you ? Poor?"

I actually lol'd at these. I have the best wifi where I live at 70mbps download. It's pretty damn expensive, but I use my computer a lot. Homework, games, youtube, etc., so ultimately it's super worth it. I have spectrum and I live on the west coast. This means that the game is constantly at 80 ping. No, I don't use an ethernet cord. Mainly because I haven't found the time to route it through my house, and honestly I'm not really focused on that right now. My wifi works perfectly fine with everything else. But I mean yeah I guess you guys are right, I should just move to a different state./s

  2. "Uhh, your pc has nothing to do with your wifi smh idiot lol"

    That's the joke homie.

What I'm referring to is the fact that after working $8/hr at a fast-food restaurant as a high school student and building a $1000+ computer solely for this game, shit like this still happens. Why does it happen? Because of bluehole's shitty servers and net-code. Something that is completely out of my control.

  3. "people still play this game?? ? Go play something else"

I enjoy this game. It's brought many good memories, and it keeps on bringin' 'em. I'm aware of all the downfalls it has. Trust me I'm more than 120% aware. Just because it's not your style, or it's hard, or the randomness gets to you, it doesn't mean it can't be fun for other people. I've got tired of this fucking game too. Many times lol. It's still enjoyable to me however, so I'll still play it.

    My specs & game settings:

I used this gaming laptop up until roughly 800 hours.

CPU: Intel i7-8700 - Link (out of stock as of October/6/19)

    RAM: Corsair Vengeance 16GB (2x8) DDR4 3000 - Link

GPU: MSI Geforce 1660ti - Link

Motherboard: MSI Z-370 Pro - Link

    Monitor: MSI Optix MAG 24" 144hz 1ms - Link

Power Supply: EVGA Supernova 650w 80+ Gold - Link

    Storage: ADATA 2TB SSD Link

Fan and cooler are pretty easy to find.

Sounds like you're making a killer build. Not familiar with blender? What does that do? The i9 is great for multithreaded applications like photoshop or after effects.

And yes, the 2080ti is an example match up for that card. I'd definitely recommend the EVGA FTW3. It's not cheap but it's the best silicon, with the best cooler, with a high boost clock, and with the best customer service which is something that is important for such an expensive component. Sometimes they do go on sale for like $60 off.

That monitor is an excellent pick for that card. There is also the LG ultragear ultrawide 144hz monitor but it's had quality issues so no longer recommended. Or you could go full ultrawide masterrace and go with the CRG9. It's popular on /r/ultrawidemasterrace that's for sure.

120 gb is just fine, some people even go with just 60, but then the price per gig goes down.

Mobo is definitely overkill. I saw the same LTT video, and I don't know why some gamers spend so much money. The one linked below should be just as good for your needs, and it will overclock just fine.
http://www.amazon.com/MSI-DDR3-2600-Motherboards-GAMING/dp/B00K23BZVI/ref=sr_1_24?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1422652674&sr=1-24&keywords=asus+z-97+atx

You can save a little bit on the memory. This kit is actually faster and cheaper, although the speed won't really be noticeable.
http://www.amazon.com/Kingston-HyperX-FURY-1866MHz-DDR3/dp/B00J8E92I0/ref=sr_1_8?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1422652821&sr=1-8&keywords=ram+8gb&pebp=1422652833471&peasin=B00J8E92I0

There are a lot of good ssds, here's a decent cheap one. If you get a different one, just make sure the brand is good.
http://www.amazon.com/Kingston-Digital-2-5-Inch-SV300S37A-120G/dp/B00A1ZTZOG/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1422652921&sr=1-1&keywords=120+gb+ssd

I'm not sure why the gpu is showing for $414, you can get the same one for a lot less.
http://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-GeForce-Overclocked-GDDR5-Graphics/dp/B00NH5T1UA/ref=sr_1_5?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1422653064&sr=1-5&keywords=970&pebp=1422653075005&peasin=B00NH5T1UA

Your power supply is more than you need since the 970 is so efficient. A lot of people like to buy more than they need though just so they have the ability to expand later. Up to you. Even the 500 watt linked below is more than you need, you could most likely do ok on 400 watts.
http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-80PLUS-Bronze-Certified-100-B1-0500-KR/dp/B00DGHKK7M/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1422653183&sr=8-4&keywords=500+watt+power+supply&pebp=1422653196399&peasin=B00DGHKK7M

Have fun on your build!

Let me know if you have any questions.

u/tatybojangles · 1 pointr/buildapc
Its a little over your budget, but you can get a 280 for £10 more, which will be a fair improvement over the 270x. Or if you want, here is a 270x for £10 less than the MSI one.

If you really want to push to boat out, throw in a better mobo to overclock and a good cheap cooler, you can get your 6300 up to 4.5ghz with that combo, I have one similar.

It's also worth thinking whether you NEED the CD drive and the wireless. I understand the wireless card if you need it. But its pretty easy to live without a CD drive, again I don't have one and the only time I have wanted one in a year is to burn a cd for my car. Friends laptop. Save yourself the £10 there.

My suggestion, go with the build below:

Mike's Grand opening online sale event starts tomorrow night. Upon reviwing the deals, many people agreed that the RX 580 Nitro+ seems to be one of the better ones.

I am curretnly working on my first build, and it's coming together well but still have the more expensive parts coming up. I will be going with an RX 580/GeForce 1060. The Nitro+ seems to have one of the best performances overall, and also does well with temperatures and noise.

Now the question is, according to the link above, it will be on sale for $330 at the sale event tomorrow night. Am I missing something? Why is everyone saying it's such a great deal? The products is, but is the deal really that good? It is curretnly for $350 at [Mike's shop itself] (https://www.mikescomputershop.com/product/8382159) and [Amazon] (https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B071QX74F9/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_1?smid=A3DWYIK6Y9EEQB&psc=1).

If anything, the Pulse seems to be a better deal money and discount wise. What's the big promotion here besides $20 off? Is it a must buy for someone in my position, or is it a passable deal and I could gamble on something better in the next few weeks over those $20 off?

u/ilovmyselfalot · 1 pointr/xboxone

ill give you that witcher does look alot worse on Xbox then PC because the game is optimized that what my point is. Yes the PC version looks good but is terrible optimized so FPS is over the place why xbox setting arnt quite as good as high but is steady 25-30fps.

this is my point your missing. at launch the PC will in theory be better unless they pull a batman.

But at the moment xbox is better optimised and if you take RES and FPS into account the Xbox is better at the moment pending the iminet patch on PC.

As for you PC WOW US prices are cheap.

So thats the basics not including Ram, HDD, Case or power supply.

thats about £600 ($890) for three components at the basic level, plus another £200 for everything else, Plus extras, monitor unless you have this hooked up to TV and mouse etc.

as for a whore.

a, but it would still look better on PC, also I doubt that I would barely get 30fps I would maintain that consistently with a 970. Game can't even hit 20fps on xbox. like I said I haven't played it so I can't know for certain.

was a reply to my response of

This game is not optimised for PC at the moment it might look better but running at 10fps is it really.

As you have not played either version your point is null and void.

Next point where have i said

"PC is better DAE FINK IM RIGHT? "

or my title: "How about you title your posts, without your petty opinions on PC."

Didnt mention in my title and one line

"So far I'm impressed looks better and runs smoother then on PC. "

for you ill edit the text to say my PC

For 4K I'd go with the GTX 1080. Yes, the GTX 1070 can render games on 4k in acceptable FPS, but you already have to turn down the settings, it won't hold for too long. The cpu on the other hand is overkill for that, and also programming won't make an i5 too slow if you don't do very specific things. You might want to go with an i7 just because you have the budget.

The GTX 1080 in there is the Gigabyte G1, which according to a test is very good.

But frankly, I would turn it down a notch. Especially if you just starting to study you might need the money, won't you? A i5-6600 with a 1440p display and a GTX 1070 will still be plenty fast, games will look great and you will easily save 500€.
u/Therealfury · 1 pointr/EliteDangerous

Well i have 2x 670OC's in SLI and i still dip into the 30's in some of the asteroid fields, with everything on maximum settings and 1080P. Guy that i play alongside has a 780ti and mostly he gets above 100FPS but in asteroid fields he too dips into the 30's sometimes, i think asteroid fields are just a little unoptimized at present so dotn expect any graphics card to eat up the dense ones with nebula's or dust clouds in them.

If you can stretch to £250 then i would say probably your best bet would be something like the GTX 960 But if your fonds can only stretch to about £250 then something like 760 a good buy in my opinion.

With regards to relationship advice, i have quite a lot of experience in that department, and i would say that if he loves you for who you are, then he will have no problem with you following a hobby that you enjoy doing as long as you make some time for him in your life as well as the stars :)

u/Braadlee · 0 pointsr/pcmasterrace

I'd recommend comparing the 4590 with the 4690K:
http://cpuboss.com/cpus/Intel-Core-i5-4690K-vs-Intel-Core-i5-4590

For a small amount of money more you can get higher specs:

4590
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Intel-3-30GHz-Graphics-Technology-Socket/dp/B00K5J22GG

4690K
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Intel-i5-4690K-Processor-Graphics-LGA-1150/dp/B00KPRWB9G

And yes, for your build you will only need, approximately, a 400W power supply as your build roughly needs 326W of power, but I'd say possibly go for a 450W or 500W PSU, incase you want to overclock/upgrade in the future.

And so save further upgrades on the PSU get a Gold Certified, or higher, and get it fully modular, not Semi-modular, if you can afford it. It will keep your case cooler having less wired, and it will look nicer, if youre into that sort of thing.

Also for the GPU, if you do get the parts you have listed, maybe splash out a extra 100 dollars on the graphics card and get a MSI Nvidia GTX 970 4GB, its amazing and your system wont be 'bottlenecked'. (Not sure how to use that word in context correctly.

MSI GTX 970:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/MSI-GTX-970-Graphics-Express/dp/B00NOP536Y/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1427549040&sr=8-1&keywords=MSI+GTX+970

Also, do not just buy a SSD, you will need a HDD aswel, I'd recommend only using your SSD for your OS, and other programs you use all the time and would like to preform faster. Your SSD will become very slow quickly otherwise, and need replacing frequently (I have found any ways!)

These are all my opinions btw, its not fact, just opinion.

Also, keep in mind you have a Mini ITS and a mini tower, make sure all of your parts will fit in there before purchasing

u/benderrrb · 1 pointr/buildapc

It's one of the cheaper options but it will work just fine (most coolers are overkill unless you are pushing your CPU to the absolute limits). You could upgrade to a bigger radiator but a single unit will be fine.

Those GPUs are not necessary if you're okay with having good settings, but if (like me) you prefer to go for maxed settings - great for bragging rights - you would definitely benefit from checking out cards like the Sapphire Tri-x R9 290 and the XFX Black Edition 290

u/Aarenas52 · 2 pointsr/buildapc

well the i3 is way better than the amd CPU when it comes to single core performance (43% better) which is what most games use!

u/meuser405 · 1 pointr/buildapc

Hey guys, my friend brought a used Dell XPS 8700 computer for her side hustle as photographer/videographer. She has budget of about $500 for upgrade. She wants to run Adobe suites, Color grading apps and some simple animation (text and such) with After effects, MS office apps, web browser, chat app (Skype/Discord). Ultimately she wants to have 3 monitors so she can run multiple apps at the same time.

I have software background, don't know much about hardware but I am the only "computer guy" she knows.

Its windows 10 machine and has Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4770 CPU @ 3.40GHz and other stock dell component.

I was thinking of suggesting upgrading these three

ASUS AC1200 Wireless Bluetooth 4.2 PCIe/Mpcie Adapter https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0713RRZMB/ref=cm_sw_r_tw_dp_U_x_ykaIDb4ZDEE3W $34.99 (for faster Wi-Fi and Bluetooth because dell one is really bad)

Corsair Vengeance Pro 32GB (4x8GB) DDR3 1600 MHz https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00D6E5JMQ/ref=cm_sw_r_tw_dp_U_x_JYaIDbJZCAVQP $139.99 (more ram for multiple apps, it only supports DDR3 ram)

Samsung 860 EVO 500GB 2.5 Inch SATA III Internal SSD https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0781Z7Y3S/ref=cm_sw_r_tw_dp_U_x_nlaIDbJWFPEJK $79.99 (for boot and installing program only, format and use the existing HD for storage)

But I am struggling with which graphic card to suggest, it has dell power supply (I think 460 watts, might be wrong, don’t have PC with me so can’t tell), NVIDIA GeForce GT 635 card which supports 3 monitor but really struggles with everything else.

Here are 3 graphic card that it say it works with 450w and has good reviews, but I don't know which one to suggest.

Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1660 OC 6G Graphics Card, 2X Windforce Fans https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07P76G428/ref=cm_sw_r_tw_dp_U_x_gnaIDbMGBH0AR $229.99

Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1660 Gaming OC 6G Graphics Card, 3X Windforce Fans https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07P689CXR/ref=cm_sw_r_tw_dp_U_x_WnaIDbQQBPCR8 $239.99

MSI Gaming GeForce GTX 1660 Ti 192-bit HDMI/DP 6GB GDRR6 HDCP Support DirectX https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07N824KNV/ref=cm_sw_r_tw_dp_U_x_toaIDbNAYN7PV $279.99

Which graphic card do you think will work best? Do you guys have any other suggestion? Do you see a bottle neck or compatibility issues? Do you think that the best use of her money? It’s my first time messing with hardware and it is someone else money so I am really nervous. Thank you in advance for your help.

u/PanthraxIV · 0 pointsr/PKA

It's a beast, prepare to be playing ever game you own at 1080p/high/ultra with great framerates. I use a GTX 760 as well, but paired with a much worse CPU. (AMD FX 6350) and i still get great performance.

Enjoy, and subscribe to /r/PcMasterRace

PS. I'd try to get a different version of the 760, like EVGA. Not many people buy Zotac cards, and i'm sure theres a reason for that even if it's slightly less expensive. http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-Dual-Link-Graphics-02G-P4-2763-KR/dp/B00DHW4HS4/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1393702730&sr=8-2&keywords=EVGA+760

This is the exact card i have with the ACX cooler that EVGA uses, i get about 23-25 Degrees Celsius on idle, it's extremely quiet and it looks fucking beautiful. For a few bucks more, might as well get it.

The 270X is a great card. http://www.legitreviews.com/msi-radeon-r9-270-gaming-oc-sapphire-dual-x-r9-270-oc-video-card-review_128803
Here is a review for the 270, the card below the 270X I would take it that the cards are very similar just that the 270X is more powerful. For the cheapest 270X I would say that is great! I haven't heard complaints about the 270X, this Sapphire has a bit of a boost, is short and good with energy.

2nd Edit, here is what the British Amazon says http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sapphire-Dual-X-Radeon-GDDR5-Graphics/product-reviews/B00FL8H49Q/ref=sr_1_1_cm_cr_acr_txt?ie=UTF8&showViewpoints=1
I am sure others would agree the 27ßX no matter which would be good!

u/jackedup2049 · 1 pointr/buildapcforme

this is more expensive but churns out frames very well for its price point, but may be a bit much for your needs. this is a great value option if you want 60+ fps and good textures. This is a bit more expensive, but if you have any future interest in 3D rendering than this is your card, will perform a bit better than the 1050 ti.

u/[deleted] · 3 pointsr/Amd

Best RX 480's:

XFX GTR

MSI Gaming

Sapphire Nitro+

All those have 4gb variants at a cheaper price. Out of those cards no one is the best but the XFX has the best overclock. So pick the cheapest or whatever looks best to you.

Hope this helps!

EDIT: Spend another $100 and you can have a 144Hz FreeSync monitor. Something like a AOC 24inch

u/benbrockn · 1 pointr/buildapc

EDITED:

Save $110 by getting a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo instead of the Liquid Cooler. I saw a few youtube benchmarks (comparing the 212 Evo to the h100i) that the 212 Evo only lags behind the liquid cooler by 1*C. If you don't want to use the stock CM fan on the 212 Evo, just buy one Corsair SP120 for $13 on Amazon, and you'll still save $97. Liquid cooling is great until it leaks all over your $3000 setup Google-> h100i leaks (and other models).

....
You also wouldn't need the Thermal Compound if you buy the 212 Evo siince Cooler Master ships you some (Saves $6)

....
Also save $420 and get the EVGA GTX 1080 Ti instead of the Titan Xp. EVGA is the best brand for NVidia cards.

....
You would save a total of ~$536 and have extremely similar performance (basically unnoticeable).

This will be a ton better than what you have. However, it's worth mentioning, that this CPU is 1 tier slower than any modern intel i3 series CPU - and those run between 30-50 dollars cheaper than this, but you will need a new motherboard.

If you want a better AMD CPU than this, you'll have to upgrade your motherboard anyways, and with the dominance that intel has had in the last 5 years in CPU's, you are way better off going with a cheap i3 haswell, or even better, an i5 which is a monster for gaming.

With either one of these, you could probably mod skyrim at 1020x600 to 1400x800 resolutions with 512k and 1k textures on low/medium settings.

Midrange Upgrades

ATI r9 280x $250.00

http://www.amazon.com/XFX-RADEON-1000MHz-Graphics-R9-280X-TDFD/dp/B00FSC5N66?SubscriptionId=AKIAIEF7KZG4SSIJ7QQA&tag=toms_shopping_rev-20&linkCode=xm2&camp=2025&creative=165953&creativeASIN=B00FSC5N66&ascsubtag=[site|thaus[cat|[art|[pid|B00FSC5N66[tid|14255832819923788[bbc|LEPRIX

With this card (and a cpu upgrade) you could mod up skyrim with an ENB at 1440 x 800 to 1920 x 1080 resolutions, on middle to high settings, with 1k textures, potentially some 2k textures.

upper range upgrades

Nvidia 970 $340.00

Ati r9 290x $340.00

http://www.amazon.com/Zotac-GeForce-DisplayPort-Graphics-ZT-90101-10P/dp/B00NNXVPS2/?&tag=bom-tomshardware-20&ascsubtag=[site|thaus[cat|[art|[pid|B00NNXVPS2[tid|1425583462529244[bbc|LEPRIX

With either of these, you can run and mod skyrim at 1920 x1080 and sometimes above resolutions, with enb and 2k and 4k textures, at ultra settings (you of course need a cpu upgrade, probably requiring a i5 intel cpu).

Hello all!

I have been eying a couple of GPUs that I am placing into an existing build.
I plan on using it to play my steam back log and new AAA titles on a couple different 1080p displays.

one sits right at 100$ and the other at 200$

I'll be coming from using a [GIGABYTE Radeon HD 6570]
(http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3834#ov) in computer that is running an AMD Phenom II ~3.4ghz and 8gb of RAM.

I've had great experiences with Dark Souls, fallout NV and skyrim, rocket league, styx, Dishonored - all of which run fantastic on high settings.

When I play Fallout 4, It's almost unbearable. I spent quite a bit of time just trying to get the most out of the setting sliders to make it look okay and run in a playable state.

I want to play games like the witcher 3 and Fallout 4 on my 1080 display and not be embarrassed when my friends come over.

The new build has already been in use as an HTPC using on-board video(eww) and is as follows:

i7

16gb of RAM

SSD

The two cards that i am torn about are:

[GTX 750Ti]
(https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00M27TSJS/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=2XKMQD6N402AL&coliid=I2H12F9RMNQ2XG&psc=1) 100$

and

GTX 1060 Mini 3GB 200$

^yes I have a small case...

will I regret the being a cheapskate and want to replace the 750 in a year's time? (especially if i get a 4k TV)

will I really see a big difference by spending twice as much?

what other sub 200$ cards would you recommend in my case?

thanks in advance.

u/RafayoAG · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

I don't know if your friend minds about used gpus, but the GTX 970 is at $262 (or $285 for the one with the best cooler). The R9 290 is $250 .

With so, he can have an awesome build for 500 if he doesn't care about used parts.

EDIT: If he plans to upgrate later, a G3258 is a good option for the while (and wait for broadwell). If no, 8320 is the best option for the price.

I always hate hearing the argument of "power is irrelevant" or "I'm not paying for it", because at the end of the day, somebody is, and to them, the power is relevant. Its silly and wildly inefficient to be focused on the highest hashrate (1080ti/2080/2080ti) when tuning for efficiency can produce nearly the same hashrate, but with 30-40% less power consumption.

Also, there's a component factor to consider as well. By reducing power, there's more room on the PSU and subsequently the PDU to use for additional cards, allowing me to absolutely blow the hashrate out of the water per watt used. Take This Card for example. At 280 watts, you can pull something like 83 sols/s on 144,5 mining BTG/ANON etc. At 160 watts, I can get 75 sols/s out of the same card. It produces less heat, fans don't have be seat nearly as high, and comparatively, I can squeeze more hashes per PSU/PDU than just setting it at 100-110% TDP.

Its an absolute no brainer to tune for efficiency, even if energy usage is of little concern to you. Longevity should always be your largest concern, especially now, especially today when the card Revenues have dropped below $1, and that's for revenue. Today, with super cheap electricity ($0.05 actual total cost), you're lucky if you profit $.50-$.60/day/card.

Hey! Thanks so much for the suggestions. I don't intend to do any overclocking, so it seems like a good choice to swap out the CPU. I've changed the motherboard, graphics card and found myself a nice hard drive

Do you think this is a better build for me?

I totally understand where you're coming from and I'm not one to push to try and push you out of your budget (theres enough of that on this sub as it is :p). The 760 is a great card, I dont know if you're aware but the one you have linked is the mini version, mainly for small ITX builds. Its lacking Asus' tradmark Direct CUII cooler. The regular Asus 760 is actually cheaper still, giving it excellent price to performance.

As for the 280x, they are finally coming down in price after the litecoin mining boom and the Vapor X cooler on the sapphire card is very good (better than their dual x version at the same price) and currently 20-40 pounds cheaper than other brands of 280x so its a good deal too.

I know it seems like a merry go round of infinite changes, at this point, but with the price difference between the mini and normal 760 i listed above you could pick up the H212 with the rest of your build as before. The agony of choice :p

I'm looking to buy a graphics card for my first PC build (which will happen in the next few months) because I got a relatively substantial amazon gift card. Literally the only game I play is Rocket League, and it's the only game I plan on playing. What is my best value option?

I don't have a 4k monitor (nor do I intend to get one) so I'm really not trying to run everything at max settings/max fps. I just want something that will run the game well enough on high settings.

My current thought is this one but if this one would help me that much more, I think I'd be willing to dish out the cash. Or if there's an entirely different one that would work best for my needs then by all means suggest another!

Thanks for all the help, I just have a couple more questions.

So it's this one right? https://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-Geforce-GDDR5-Graphic-GV-N1050OC-2GD/dp/B01MG0733A/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1501031586&sr=1-1&keywords=GTX+1050

Also will installing it be hard? And is there a tutorial video you recommend?

Thanks for all the help friend! :)

Ya everyone has their own opinion, in all honesty all the well known 3rd party manufacturers (Asus, gigabyte, EVGA, MSI) are very reliable cards with good cooling options. Me and my friend went with EVGA because they have a sweet warranty, are well priced and look really cool :D

This had probably been asked a million times, but what are safe oc settings for my rx 580 8gb ([specicifically this one] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XZQMMHJ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1)) I can use for a couple of days continuously, and ones that would be safe for just a night? I would also appreciate fan speed. Am using msi afterburner. Thanks.

Can you get an extended warranty on it? I have trouble trusting used products but this is a pretty good deal, a new Strix 580 is going for like $370. If you don’t mind going with another brand, here are some cheaper 580s with similar specs:

Aorus Card

MSI Card

Red Devil Card

I can understand why you’d want the Strix though. Beautiful card. It’s really up to you, just be careful. If you can somehow get more warranty on the Strix I’d say it’s a pretty good deal.

Yea I'm not corssing my fingers.

I do like how EVGA has made a twin fan version of the GTX 760 which looks like it would be easier to clean out then the solid cover with a rotary fan on one end.

Rotarty Fan model

Twin blade fan model

You could save $130 by acquiring Windows 10 a separate way and then put half of it into the GPU budget and buy this excellent deal (GTX 1660 Ti). The 1660 Ti is around 15 to 20% faster than the 590 and is more capable of achieving 60+fps.

Then put the other half of the $130 into a better keyboard for around $50-$60, you'll be glad you did. I recommend the Redragon K551-RGB at this price point. Redragon makes above average mechanical keyboards compared to the other companies at this price point. The blue switches are quite loud, fair warning.

The rest of the build looks solid to me. +1

For the CPU (i5 7500) and motherboard (Asus Prime z270A), you might want to consider getting it from Sim Lim Square. Tradepac is selling the bundle for 569. It will be slightly more expensive by around 13 SGD, but you get the warranty. Of course, if warranty doesn't matter, then go ahead and get from Amazon.

For the GPU, your listed MSI Radeon RX 480 8GB Gaming X. Since you are already getting some items from Amazon, you might want to consider getting it from Amazon as well. Link here (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01K1JTT8S/ref=twister_B01KKKAS9W?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1). It is going for 245 USD, which should be around 368 SGD (after factoring Credit card and miscellaneous charges), therefore eligible for FSSG and no GST incurred. This should reduce some of the budget hopefully. Of course, you mentioned that you prefer GPU to be bought locally for warranty, so it's up to you whether the money saved is worth it or not.

If you don't mind XFX Radeon RX 480 8GB, you may consider getting it from Lazada (http://www.lazada.sg/xfx-radeon-rx-480-8gb-gddr5-true-oc-1288mhz-triple-x-edition-hardswap-graphics-card-10847248.html). Current price is 389, but with the promo code "CNYHUAT10", you can get a further 10% discount which will bring it down to 359 SGD. There will be local warranty for it.

Hi guys,
I am in the market for a new GPU, currently am rocking dual GTX 960's on a 1440p monitor so am finding it quite hard to play a variety of games at the settings I wish. My lust for card right now is the Xtreme Waterforce edition Gigabyte is launching. But, I am in the UK and saw the Gigabyte G1 Gaming edition on Amazon for £560 and snapped that up straight away but haven't heard the slighest regarding shipping date. My question is, in your guys opinion, do I stick with the G1 that I bought? Or upgrade to the Waterforce? Considering that I want as much power as I can get (have saved so budget is flexible) and also I dont want audible noise above speakers (my dual 960's whine like no before). I made the mistake of getting two 960's over a 970 before and dont want to make a mistake with a GPU again so any info would be great. Thanks!
INFO: The Waterforce is £750 on pre-order: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/gigabyte-geforce-gtx-1080-xtreme-waterforce-8192mb-gddr5x-pci-express-graphics-card-gv-n1080xtreme-gx-185-gi.html
The G1 was £560 on some sort of order too: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01GCAW1IA/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

by the way a cheap 1060 like this will perform within 5%, it will just be louder: https://www.amazon.com/ZOTAC-GeForce-Compact-Graphics-ZT-P10610A-10L/dp/B01KKJAJM4/ref=sr_1_5?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1511499631&sr=1-5&keywords=1060+3gb

on the other hand you save $30! but you miss out on evga awesome customer support. up to you. options out there. $220 is the most I'd spend, the quieter operation can be nice

u/cazoul · 2 pointsr/buildapc

Unfortunately my best option is to purchase everything from Amazon due to free shipping to Singapore. Buying locally or from other websites that don't offer free shipping would burst my budget extremely quickly.

So, the PSU on Amazon is currently $35, which is a good enough deal for me, and the RAM is $106, which is the best deal I could find for RAM on Amazon. It's about $10 more expensive than 2400mhz RAM, but I think $10 is worth the faster RAM for a Ryzen system (Or so I've heard).

I found a this however, which I wouldn't mind getting over the 1050 TI, for only $20 more.

Do you think my thoughts are valid? Thanks for you input! :-)

u/MrTechSavvy · -1 pointsr/buildapc

Well I agree with everything except the 1050. The 470 can be had for less than $20 more than some 1050/1050ti's, but the 470 is soo much better. And a skylake i3 can handle a 480, 1060. I know you probably weren't meaning that the pentiums can't handle a better card, but that a 1050 would match a budget CPU, if you can get a 1050 under $100.

$159 - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N3TCNNW/?tag=pcpapi-20

Wow. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01MA62JSZ/ref=mp_s_a_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1484054528&sr=8-9&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=1050
I was gonna post this for lols, but why tf would someone pay $200 for a 1050ti?? A 480 can be had for that price. And a 480 is so much better than a 1050ti that it negates the purchase even for a gsync monitor. Wow.

I was actually going to link you in my previous comment but since we have different cases im not too sure if the bracket support im using will be compatible with your case because of the small clearance it has between the GPU and the power supply housing. This is the one i use https://www.amazon.com/dp/B079HSVSLR/ref=sspa_dk_detail_0?psc=1&pd_rd_i=B079HSVSLR&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_p=f52e26da-1287-4616-824b-efc564ff75a4&pf_rd_r=NBMZ5NCAG055C0TXE1CA&pd_rd_wg=wSvEM&pf_rd_s=desktop-dp-sims&pf_rd_t=40701&pd_rd_w=7mVSg&pf_rd_i=desktop-dp-sims&pd_rd_r=18c244cc-d637-11e8-a8d6-f512c823c951 Maybe you could use it.

No worries though i found you this one that might be better for your build. https://www.amazon.com/Graphics-Support-Holder-Gaming-Bitcoin/dp/B01DQK7DDW I do highly recommend it. Your GPU is the most expensive part of your computer and you dont want its connectors to snap off from the back of the case or the motherboard.

Hope that helps. Feel free to ask anything else.

Just to follow-up. With a $40 card from amazon prime, tonight I found out it does indeed seem to be the 1080 Ti. Got the system up and windows install completed w/ the $40 card, and then was able to switch over to the 1080 ti. Black horizontal flickers and wouldn't connect over display port. Then random blackouts. That, combined with the box looking like this had been opened (probably for mining as you say) means it's now being returned. Thank god for Amazon's return policy. I ordered this card instead. I hope its good. Doesn't go with the color scheme as well. But I'd rather have a functional machine than a pretty one.

u/crackbabyathletics · 1 pointr/buildapc

I'm guessing you want to order everything through amazon? You could save £10 or so by getting the OS through a different retailer at least.

An i3/pentium would be a stronger gaming CPU but at your price range and the fact you're going to be doing some video editing too I think that 6300 will be a good fit as it'll be faster for those purposes while still being plenty adequate for gaming with a 270/270x.

I'd also get this GPU if I were you, only £7 more and will be a decent boost in performance:

Focused more on a well rounded build.

PCPartPicker doesn't see it at the moment for some reason, but this Vega 56 is from a great brand and performs pretty much the same as the 2060 for slightly less. You do lose out on the RTX features if you wanted to try that.

I was thinking of getting this card if I decided on just a GPU upgrade- https://www.amazon.com/ZOTAC-GeForce-Compact-Graphics-ZT-P10610A-10L/dp/B01KKJAJM4

I know it would be bottlenecked by my fx 6100 CPU, but the performance gain might be better than what a CPU upgrade would give me. I've been pretty conflicted about this for a while tbh, still kinda confused. Also next time I'm at my PC I'll test my cpu :)

You can build a pretty decent rig with $1200... But it depends on what type of work you'd need to be doing on your laptop.

If you just need something for word processing, get the Asus X205TA or HP Stream 11, and then build a rig with:

u/Pyrobob4 · 4 pointsr/buildapc

If you're looking at an 8gig 1070, I'd suggest this [EVGA version.] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01I60OGUK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_Rl0qzb0FG679F)

Same price as the gigabyte card you're looking at, but EVGA have a great reputation for customer support.

The cards are essentially the same, so it usually comes down three things: price, appearance, or brand prefference. Unless you really care about aesthetics, go with EVGA.

RX 460 or GTX 1050

I would choose between these two GPUs. Again, either choice will be more powerful, less expensive, and more efficient than any GTX 950.

*The 460 and 1050 are basically identical in performance.

Edit: If you're looking to spend in the $160 range, I'd highly recommend an RX 470. Here is one for 145 after a rebate. This gpu is much more powerful than the 460/1050 and is nearly as powerful as the 480/1060 for a fraction of the price.

Edit: And here's an RX 480 on sale for $160 after rebate. That's stupidly cheap for a 480, so I'd highly highly recommend picking up on this sale if you're looking to spend $160.

u/JK464 · 4 pointsr/ManyATrueNerd

Well you'd need a new graphics card and cpu.. but to upgrade cpu... you'd need a new motherboard which means new ram aswell... and on top of that a new psu to power it all .. which basically the entire computer.. so costly

~~GPU: this is very flexible let's throw in a gtx 970 for now (it mightnt be supported this can be checked later)
(MSI NVIDIA GTX 970 Gaming Twin Frozr HDMI DVI-I DP Graphics Card (4GB, PCI Express, DDR5, 256 Bit) https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00NOP536Y/ref=cm_sw_r_other_awd_tKtkxbGQRE3JA)
£275~~

£35~~

You might want to consider a bigger hard drive maybe an ssd, also the gpu I suggested is most certainly overkill for everything else and mightnt work but it's only to give an idea for now.. I'm not even sure how well the x6800 will perform, hopefully someone more in the known can add to this

edit: i was talking rubbish

Because I'm bored and do this for a living I'm going to put together an alt build for you:

Nice entry level Skylake gaming Mobo (I've used this, it's nice, has USB 3.1 which will be very helpful in the coming years for data transfers)

Video card:

RX 470 OC edition, I like this card great bang for the buck:

Power supply:

no reason to spend more with this build:

total cost of build is roughly:

Mobo ($70)

CPU ($60)

GPU ($170)

RAM ($70)

SSD ($60)

PSU ($30)

Case ($40)

So total is roughly $500 and with this build you have a great upgrade path, which you won't have at all with the one you proposed.

Yeah it's a Mini-Itx one, so I know about finding a case to fit that. the motherboard is still working well, I think I'll look to upgrade those next, when I save up, the main issue is the GPU.

I'm assuming most modern GPUs and PSUs will work with the motherboard right?

The GFX I'm looking at is this: https://www.amazon.com/MSI-GAMING-RX-480-8G/dp/B01K1JTT8S/ref=sr_1_2?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1479972212&sr=1-2&keywords=RX+480

So what would I need to look at specifically to ensure combatibility :)

u/davidfg4 · 1 pointr/buildapc

Please post your existing build. Compatibility will be an issue, and it depends on what you already have.

Yes it is possible for an AMD APU to work together with a separate AMD graphics card in order to improve graphics. Unfortunately the card that she links is not an AMD card and this will not work.

If you are mainly concerned with graphical performance for games, then I would recommend sticking to whatever CPU you already have. Just get a dedicated GPU, which will vastly outperform any of AMD's CPU+GPU combinations. I would suggest a GTX 760, although you could get a GTX 660 if you don't want to spend over $200.

You always need thermal paste, but if you are a using a stock heatsink it comes with paste and you don't need to buy it separately. Graphics cards have permanently mounted heatsinks and you don't need to worry about that.

^
not ^really

I would suggest using a site like Tom's hardware to compare GPUs. Pick a game that you play and see what cards offer an acceptable level of performance.

The RX5_something is coming out in the next few months. It might drop the prices of the RX 480 and should definitely increase the number of GPU's being sold over on /r/hardwareswap

If you're not in a rush to buy might as well wait. If not I'm super happy with my RX 480 Sapphire Nitro + 8gb.

I got it because it wasn't ungodly long like the ASUS strixx card and it has removable fans like the XFX cards but it does it with a lower profile screw and not what I see as big ugly clips. Purely aesthetic between the two designs but having replaceable fans was a must for me. The XFX GTR has been very well received and has one of the better coolers. But I like having the power connection on the rear of the card not the side of it. So that was another reason for me to go with the Sapphire.

I personally just didn't like the aesthetics on the MSI gaming board but performance wise it's also great.

First time posting here, I'm in the process of picking the parts I want for a new PC. I'm thinking of going with the GTX 970 as my graphics card. I was wondering if anyone could tell me what, besides price, make, and size, is the difference between these two? Is either objectively better than the other?

Number 1

Number 2

Thanks for your help :)

u/RidexSDS · 2 pointsr/nvidia

Get a support bracket, a vertical mount for your GPU will also sag.

Source - I installed a 2080ti in my buddy's PC with a vertical mount.. sagged like a B

I have this under my 2070 super (msi gaming x trio), works great and you literally can't see it. That pole the other dude posted I didn't like because its so noticeable and bulky

u/PharaohSteve · 1 pointr/pcgaming

Hmm, you bring up an good point there. I didn't realize the 1080 Ti's MSRP was so low because prices seem to fluctuate a lot on my card, it's at $1064 right now through Amazon.

My situation was a bit unique. I had bought a 1070 outside of the mining bubble and got it under MSRP at MicroCenter. Fast forward about a year and a buddy wants to build a new PC, but he's having a hard time meeting his budget.

I offered to sell him my 1070 for half the MSRP (I oc'd it often but rarely hit over 80C), I timed my upgrade moreso to hurry up and get my friend a card, but also waited for insider news so I could make sure I was within the Step-Up window from EVGA.

EDIT - lol, wrongest.

u/TheUnrealArchon · 1 pointr/buildapc

My post keeps getting AutoMod'ed and I'm not sure why, so I'll post the short version here.

PCPartPicker Part List

First time building a PC. I'd love it if you could look over my parts and see if I'm overlooking anything.

Purpose: I'm going to start my Masters in Engineering next year and I wanted to beef up my computer. While gaming is appreciated, I'm looking for something powerful first and gaming second, which is why my GPU is likely to be my bottleneck.

CPU: I plan to overclock the Ryzen 5 2600. I also wanted a water cooler mostly for the flex so that might be slightly mismatched. ¯\(ツ)

GPU: Question, which would be better, a $200 ($180 w/ Google Express) XFX AMD Radeon RX 590 Fatboy OC+ or a $210 Sapphire AMD Radeon Nitro+ RX 580. I have heard very great things about the Sapphire Nitro RX 580 but I'm not sure if the RX 590 deal from today is a better one.

u/shmorfington · 1 pointr/buildapc

Here are the two options I’m considering now. Which would fit my build better, and is it worth the extra cash for the 64?

Vega 56 for $250 because I’m planning on signing up for the amazon credit card since I buy so much from them anyway.

Or this

vega 64 for $400 from Newegg. It comes with that bundle that I assume I could sell for like 50 dollars.

Current build:

Cpu: ryzen 5 2600x

RAM: 16 gb ddr4 Corsair vengeance 3200

MOBO: Asus ROG Strix B450-F

u/86_ed · 1 pointr/buildapc

This one seems pretty good. It's up to you if you want better performance out of the box or save some money and do some tweaks yourself.

u/Vergil229 · 2 pointsr/buildapc

What kind of case do you have?

If it is not a small case, you're better off with a non-blower style card.

The MSI GTX 970 has one of the better coolers on the card. It also has a silent mode where the fans don't turn on when the card is hardly being used so that is nice. Should overclock quite nicely.

u/mekat · 3 pointsr/graphicscard

Just checked US prices. They are still $50 higher then what I paid 18 months ago for a Zotac 1060 3gb (regularly priced, not on sale $220ish). Definitely more reasonable but still jacked up. My GPU is halfway through its lifespan so I have been hoping that it makes it until the prices return to normal. If my GPU dies before then I will either have to downgrade or buy a used console because I can't afford current prices.

ETA: ZOTAC GeForce GTX 1060 Mini 3GB GDDR5 Super Compact Graphics Card (ZT-P10610A-10L) This was the card I bought and here it is listed on [Amazon where I bought it.] (https://www.amazon.com/ZOTAC-GeForce-Compact-Graphics-ZT-P10610A-10L/dp/B01KKJAJM4/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1522443454&sr=1-1&keywords=ZOTAC+GeForce+GTX+1060+Mini+3GB+GDDR5+Super+Compact+Graphics+Card+%28ZT-P10610A-10L%29)

Thanks for this info. I have seen few posts that HP800 PSU can be changed for better one (one link is in my above comment-for example), so probably PSU alternative at 450W would be possible, right?

By ''half-height'' you mean ''MINI'' version of graphics cards?

GTX 1060 is about 6% better in USERbenchmark compared to RX 570, do you think MINI VERSION would fit in my SFF case?

1060 AMAZON.DE It seems it's less than an inch longer than LOW PROFILE card.

Used version seems very tempting to me :)

u/Tylertooo · 1 pointr/buildapc

LOL, the 1030 is supposed to be the $65-$70 card, and it's barely worth that.

Save up $40 more and grab this. It'll be the best you'll get in these times...

u/Duskul · 1 pointr/skyrim

The Video Card needs memory to hold all the Textures for stuff ingame.
Also for the gtx 760 I would recommend the EVGA version because of the good cooler and EVGA's great customer support.

u/DevilScarlet · 1 pointr/thesims

Don't look at those guys saying you need gtx970 or more than 8gb of ram

RAM : Got all extension + something like 1000 packages (mods) and my sims 4 use 1,2gb so even 4gb might be fine... but 8gb is a must if you want to run other things in background like youtube...

Used GTX 970? not really needed, again, if you don't want to max out graphics, the 1030 you linked is enough, but well if you could afford some kind of GTX1050 it might be better and you could max out graphics. [Here is one at 119$](

u/SareezST · 3 pointsr/buildapc

You don't need another CPU. I suggest a Nvidia 970.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00NOP536Y/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_dp_ss_1/276-8986364-6271910?pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe&pf_rd_r=1H32E6EBNTMW1XJ9BYY0&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_p=479289247&pf_rd_i=B00NFFAW50

The PSU is fine for the video card (lower power GPU)

Motherboard is cool.

With the Nvidia GTX 970 you can get 1080p/60fps/Max ALL GAMES {except Watch Dogs} (much better than GTX 780, I dont know who would even recommend that anymore... So outdated (not in graphic wise, but its just outdone in everything by the 970)

You would only need a CPU upgrade, if you want to do HEAVY computer Twitch.Tv Game streaing or if you want to do HEAVY Video work 1080p/60 fps rendering long 20 minute videos, etc

Once you buy the new video card you don't need ANYTHING else if you're just gaming. 1080p/60fps/Max all games Have fun.

1 would be perfectly fine, but 2 of them would be fantastic for what you spend on the titles which you can force crossfire to behave. (Most, but not all.) I trust MSI, personally, and their coolers tend to be solid. (I wouldn't buy EVGA, Sapphire, or recommend any "reference" board at all, ever.)

u/PamBeeslysTits · 1 pointr/computers

here is a 1050 on amazon for ~75 after rebate, if you or someone you know has prime

found this deal on /r/buildapcsales - great sub there as well

eh, its just cause its an integrated GPU - those are meant for basic tasks and office work, not really for gaming, though some can work well for it. as long as you have a slot and PSU for the GPU, it will be well worth it

u/DVG369 · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

If I were you I'd sell the R7 265 and buy a new graphics card. Your CPU is great as it is, and the rest of your system is pretty solid. Your GPU could be a bit better though. Even for you current budget of ~£140 you could get yourself an R9 270X - http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00FL8H49Q/.

Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1070 G1 Gaming

ASUS GeForce 8GB Dual-Fan OC Edition

ZOTAC GeForce GTX 1070 AMP! Edition

u/tiger32kw · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

I edited my previous comment to suggest the GTX 750ti, cheaper than 270x and worse performing... The 270x would definitely give more fps. You could get either of those 2 cards though and a 256GB mx100 SSD. That combo would yield great results as upgrades. If all you care about is more fps then spend it all on a video card. You will probably be able to find some GTX 970 model for under $300 by Christmas. That is an upgrade that will definitely last a long time.

Edit: this MSI GTX 970 Gaming is what you want if you go that route. £267.95 when in stock from Amazon.

u/blairy91 · 3 pointsr/buildapc

Sorry I've just noticed that your links arent American but instead Australian. I was working those suggestions based on USD > GDP conversion, so my advice doesnt really stand as much as you're exchange rate isnt so applicable. Though I do 100% stand by spending a little extra on your gpu, it will see you well for much much longer rather than you having to upgrade that relatively soon and theoretically blowing the cash you spent on it in the first place.

Hope this helps man

Edit : if you can afford the extra 140 dollars I'd really consider picking up this

Hi again,

I have commited to the 6850k.

  1. ~$200

  2. I don't need it new and can be used.

  3. All I need the video card to do is enable 3 monitors (2 monitors have DP and HDMI, while the third Monitor has DVI and VGA) to work with. Maybe so casual video editing if I absolutely have to (premiere Pro CC) and I don't think I'll be playing games until I get at least 1 1080.

Since I am using the Rampage V E 10, integrated graphics is not an option as you have stated.

So far a gt 440 or RX 470 seems to be a good alternative for the time being. Thank you for taking the time to respond.

Edit: Looking to get this for now thanks to everyone's advice.

The monitor is still around $200, which is pretty expensive(ish?) to me. I decided to move down to this 470:
amazon.com/dp/B01N3TCNNW/

I use Prime so the price is lowered to around 175 USD$

I'll look into the monitor, and just see if there is anything slightly cheaper, like a 60 hz version if that is even available... But it looks pretty solid.

Thank you.

Just out of curiosity what music production software are you using? Most are optimized for multicore processing (some more than others). A Ryzen 5 would probably be a better choice having those 2 extra cores.

Graphics card you dont need much for audio production as there will be no GPU load. Something like this would be more than enough, https://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-Geforce-GDDR5-Graphic-GV-N1050OC-2GD/dp/B01MG0733A/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1503145830&sr=1-3&keywords=GTX+1050

It depends on how portable you want to be and how much money you have. I think it would be better to just keep your current laptop and purchase a graphics amplifier and gtx 1070 graphics card which comes out to $590. If you care more about portability then sell your current laptop and buy a 17" which starts at $1500. If you plan to go down this route then I recommend you get the 1070 gpu so it will maintain performance as time passes.

Alright so I found a RX 580 for 375USD that will restock on the 18th I suggest waiting until until then and buy that right away. That will fit your needs well. I have a 480 8gb that can run any game well.

Here’s the link to the card:

u/GreenWo1f · 1 pointr/buildapc

Yeh that seems pretty good, but is there any advantage to an MSI card rather than an something like this from Nvidia?

u/senorroboto · 2 pointsr/buildapc

Power supply is overpriced, get this instead ($865):

http://www.amazon.com.mx/EVGA-SuperNOVA-750-Fuente-poder/dp/B00K85X23O/

you should get 8GB of RAM ($760).

http://www.amazon.com.mx/Crucial-Ballistix-Sport-Memoria-registrar/dp/B00MTSWG30/

Cheaper GTX 970, different brand but still good ($6659):

http://www.amazon.com.mx/Gigabyte-GeForce-Tarjeta-gr%C3%A1fica-video/dp/B00NH5T1UA/

Cheaper motherboard, different brand but still good, supports SLI ($2999):

http://www.amazon.com.mx/Gigabyte-GA-Z170XP-SLI-DDR4-SDRAM-Celeron-Pentium/dp/B012AQGL4A/

That gets your price down to $22,395. To go lower than that, I think you need to switch to a Haswell DDR3 system instead. Right now Skylake (intel 6000 series) is still very expensive.

u/DemonHunterBlade · 1 pointr/buildapc

An EVGA GTX 760 is very close to £200. You can grab an Asus one for £185~ which is also great.

The 270X is pretty alright too, although it isn't as good as the 760 unless it's higher than 1080p.

I would suggest the 760, Asus or EVGA.

Depends. For $300 or less, if you can get a Sapphire pulse/some other GOOD aib model and if you're willing to spend around 10 minutes undervolting then that's pretty Good. Here's a Pulse Vega 56 for $310 https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B07BGZNTQJ/ref=mw_dp_olp?ie=UTF8&condition=new
Although if you're not comfortable tweaking, which is completely understandable, then just wait for an aib rx 5700.

I've got an HP p6140f running with a 600w PSU and an AMD 6670 currently. I'm looking to upgrade to a more powerful card. Could my case even fit a GTX 970, and if so, could my system handle it? Could you recommend a card if not?

u/Iwastherain · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

Okay, good start. Would I be looking for something along these lines?

I have borrowed some money, so £200-230 is about what i can do. Is the difference between AMD card and this one (Nvidia?) going to be an issue at all? I'd have to uninstall drivers and install new ones right?

thanks again!

u/gamerkadja, suppose I wanted to go hella budget on it with the 1660. Would one of these still do what Im looking for for gpu's? Im not streaming often so Im mainly looking for the fps smoothing.

u/omiclix · 1 pointr/GlobalOffensive

Well to start, i have a system with a 3570K, and I didnt realize how cool the processor actually is when I went with liquid.

I wish I had purchased something like this instead.

Overall though, I would first replace your video card with a 670 or 770. [Here is a good one that is cheap.] (http://www.amazon.com/GTX760-DC2OC-2GD5-GeForce-256-bit-PCI-Express-OC-selected/dp/B00DBPKEOI/ref=sr_1_7?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1419933989&sr=1-7&keywords=gtx770)
After buying the card, see your FPS and if you need more, then do the Overclock of the CPU. If not, then just stick with it.

EDIT: your mobo will not allow for a CPU overclock, so just go with the new GPU that I suggested.

u/StricknSurvivor · 1 pointr/hackintosh

Thank you again but I just want to make sure I am understanding this correctly:
As long as I am getting the gtx 970, the only difference between manufactures is the cooler? And if this is correct then it also means that there will be no difference in Hackintosh compatibility between manufacturers of the same card?

I saw a Gigabyte 970 for $300 earlier and I am kicking myself for not getting it right when I saw it and it quickly went back up to its $360 price tag!! :( I also see a sweet looking, black and white MSI 970 on a slight discount, which is one reason why I ask the question above. This whole situation also brings up the other question: How much do prices usually fluctuate? Should I wait for the Gigabyte 970 or the MSI 970 to come down a bit again or will I be waiting too long and would be better off going for the Zotac 970 now?

u/Netblock · 3 pointsr/buildapc

You would see much faster multicore performance for a very similar price by getting the Ryzen 2600X.

You can do much better on the ram.

You're spending way too much on the PSU.

Already have storage? If you forgot to include it, the Intel 660p would be a really good option. If you need bulk storage, do a hard drive as well.

If you want to spend ~$40 more on the graphics card, you can get the Vega 56 (as there's a good deal on it right now) which is 33% faster (Edit: Alternative cheap vega 56)

u/applicantx · 7 pointsr/buildapc
Testing Games has compared both these cards in 8 titles and here are the results

Game|RTX 2060 Avg. FPS|GTX 1660 Ti Average FPS|% FPS increase over 1660 Ti
----|:----|:----|:----
Battlefield 5 | 112 | 98 | 14%
Metro Exodus | 52 | 43 | 21%
AC Odessey | 62 | 52 | 19%
Forza Horizon 4 | 102 | 98 | 4%
Far Cry New Dawn | 104 | 91 | 14%
Shadow of the Tomb Raider | 89 | 78 | 13%
GTA V | 104 | 92 | 13%
The Witcher 3 | 108 | 87 | 24%

For a 25% increase in price over the GTX 1660 Ti, RTX 2060 offers only about 15% more performance in AAA titles at 1080p/ultra-preset.
So, from a price to performance perspective, a 1660 Ti is a much better deal for gaming. Vega 56 is another excellent option if you can find it for $30-$40 more on the 1660 Ti (in fact, Amazon has a deal going on right now. Check it here).

An actual graphics card would be your first purchase. Nothing really expensive. Something like a GTX 1050 or RX 460 would do what you want just fine (A 1050 would be better if you can get it for the same price or close to an RX 460). If you still have money left over after that, you would want to upgrade your CPU/MOBO/RAM next.

u/Beyondist · 1 pointr/buildapc

There's probably a difference in aftermarket cooling, and factory overclocking.

I assume you are talking about This One

Vs This One?

If so, it's due to the fact that the second one is the "Best" 290. There's a 300MHz difference in clock speed, and a 203 MHz difference in memory clock speeds. The VRAM remains equal though.
There's a few minor changes with max resolution supported, and cooling.

Personally, I'd rather go for a 390 instead of spending $100 more for the best 290.

Yea those are both 480's. The Asus one has a different cooler on it, that's all. The other one is a reference card, or the card with a stock cooler from AMD. Performance wise, they should perform similarly, but the Asus card will run cooler and quieter. There are a ton of RX 480's on the market, all with different designs. There's this one here as well as this one and this one. So to answer your question, yes they're the same cards, just from different manufacturers.

The gpu (graphics card) is a compact one. The one you chose has a smaller pcb (the silicon board) than most other graphics cards. This card was probably meant for smaller motherboards in smaller cases (micro atx or mini itx, which are form factors, e.g your mobo is an atx). Because of this the fans of the asus 760 are smaller and will probably have to spin faster to cool the gpu, so I am assuming it will generate more noise.

Here is your asus gpu and here is an evga one, note the difference in sizes.

Here is your atx mobo, a micro atx, and a mini itx, note the difference in sizes.

I had an RX 580 8GB and it had issues with black frames. Apparently very common with AMD cards. Not saying that you should stay away from AMD, but I replaced it with a GTX 1060 3GB and I've been extremely happy. At your range, I think you should consider the GTX 1660 6GB for $219. It pushes a higher frame-rate in almost every game

u/DM725 · 3 pointsr/buildapcsales

Hopefully most people are getting the Sapphire Pulse Vega 56 for $299.99 from Amazon. I have that AND this Nitro+ Vega 64 in my house. Both are great cards.

u/QNeutrino · 1 pointr/buildapc

Everything looks fine except that 960. That's an old card, and much weaker than the newer variant the 1060. It seems like an extremely odd choice in a build this expensive. The actual 960 itself is overpriced as far current trends go, as the 1060 costs a bit less in most cases. Neither graphics card will probably be able to push 144hz particularly well. However, since you have $2300 I would suggest spending that extra $200 on a 1070 instead, like this one. It'll do great at 1080p 144hz.
