I've been really into finding a great concealer lately.

I bought the Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer travel size, in the light neutral color. The full size costs a lot, so I wanted to test it out by getting this. There's only two colors available in travel size, and light neutral is too dark for me, and it oxidizes. It's not too dark though, so my foundation covers it up. I actually like this quite a bit. It'snot full coverage but can be built up. I found it sat on the skin very nicely and felt great. I wish this color matched so I could wear it alone but oh well. I'll likely buy this again, in full size.

I bought This concealer from a Korean brand I'd never heard of, after seeing someone mention it's a dupe for the NARS concealer. It's a legit company, and that's their actual amazon,so no worries about some random dangerous crap. I've only tried a sample of the NARs concealer, but this does seem to perform pretty closely! I haven't worn it all day yet, but the coverage is really nice, it doesn't settle in the cracks weirdly, and it didn't oxidize. Downside is it only comes in 3 colors because Korean companies seem to only produce their "ideal shade" which is white. I got Light Beige, which is pretty light but it's a near perfect match blended out. It's really affordable too, which is a plus. If this wears really well, I'll probably repurchase this.

I also bought the Colourpop concealer (as well as this shadow) but it hasn't come in yet. Hopefully I like it!

I recently got that sephora 500 point Clinique reward, which includes the Pep-Start HydroBlur Moisturizer , the Pep-Start Eye Cream , the Almost Lipstick in Black Honey and the Pop Matte Lip Colour + Primer in Rose Pop .

The moisturizer is a really generous size! It's gonna last me a long time. I've only tried it once, but it felt pretty nice, no complaints. The eye cream is kinda small but since you only use a little, I think it will last a while. I saw reviews that said it helped with dark circles and I think it actually has! Maybe I was seeing things but I swear it made them less dark with just the first use. For reference, I have really dark circles, due to genetics. It's actually helping me though.

I redeemed the points mostly for the black honey lipstick (and wanting to try the eye cream), and I think it was worth it! Black Honey is super sheer, and its a super lovely color, and looks amazing on me. I think it'd look great on most any skintone, really. The size is really nice in this, so I likely won't run out unless I use it like everytime I wear makeup. I'll definitely buy it if I do run out.

The Matte pop lipstick is pretty too, and nicely opaque. Feels great on the lips as well. It's a little too bright for me, but I can smudge it to do the gradient lips and it looked great.

I actually highly recommend this reward! I'm very happy with it.

Hello fellow makeupaddictioner!! I'm OBSESSED with makeup and hair so you're in luck, lol!

First things first: Makeup!
For a very natural, professional, and simple makeup look these are my go to essentials:

  • foundation any type that suits your fancy! My personal favorite is Bare Minerals because it gives a super matte, flawless finish that looks like your skin with minimal effort. I literally just dip my brush in, dust off the excess and swipe that bitch on my face...lol

  • concealer only if you need it/have time. I only do it half the time...lol

  • bronzer I use this just to warm up my face after I apply foundation. Sometimes when you apply foundation it can cause your face to look very flat and one dimensional. Applying bronzer to all of the areas that would naturally get sunlight gives your face depth and dimension.

  • Simple Neutral Eyeshadow No need to get fancy here just a simple neutral eyeshadow will do the trick :) I don't even use multiple colors just one color I like.

  • Blush I apply just a small amount on the apples of my cheeks. My personal favorite is Elf blush in Berry Merry.

  • Mascara I'm sure you know all about mascara!

  • Chapstick I like to use chapstick rather than an actual color when I'm going with a no makeup makeup look.

I think these essentials are perfect for the professional world. The makeup isn't overbearing and it gives you the appearance that all you had to do was wake up and wash your face... that you woke up flawless which I think is infinitely more effective/professional/approachable than piling on tons of makeup.

    Here are some links:

  • Foundation

  • Concealer

  • Bronzer

  • Eyeshadow

  • Blush

  • Mascara

  • Chapstick

Also, here is a tutorial! I really like her and it's very simple and something I would do everyday not just for traveling :)

Now onto Hair... Are you still with me?? lol.

Here are my three favorite "Professional" hairstyles:

  • The Sock Bun

  • The Chignon

  • Ponytail

I think all of these hairstyles will work great with thin hair! Especially the Chignon and the Ponytail!

Here are the tutorials (All for thin hair):

  • The Sock Bun

  • The Chignon

  • Ponytail

I hope you found this really helpful! If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask :) I love helping!!

    Bonus - Hair Accessories:

  • Sock Bun Helper

  • Hair Cuff

  • Headband

  • Another Headband

  • Peacock Barrette

    The End! lol :)

    Edit: I'm bad at words.

Haha, I just commented this on /u/Violincellist's thread, but I use a half and half mix of foundation and BB! It has great coverage, but still has the benefits of the BB in there, which is great for me because my BB helps fight acne and oil! I use a bit of Tarte's Amazonian Clay foundation and Etude House's BB Magic in Refreshing. I freaking love Tarte, and I will allllwaaayysss recommend their foundation. Mixing it with the BB really helps out my skin, and it looks absolutely flawless! If you don't like the idea of mixing both, at least get the Tarte Amazonian Clay foundation, it looks great, lasts long, and they added a wide range of colors to it, so you should be able to find your perfect shade!

As far as primer goes, I use Etude House's Goodbye Pore Ever primer, which I think is great. (Especially for the price!) It's silicone based, which some people might not like, but it really helps minimize and fill in my pores and even out my skin. I've heard great things about Benefit's Porefessional as well! I got a small sample of it today at Sephora, and it has the same consistency as Etude House's primer... I'll report back after I actually use it for a little! ;P

My picks are a rotation of Japanese sunscreens, because when it comes to skincare I just can't stick to one thing!

Some in my rotation:

Disclosure: These are all Amazon non-affiliate links so people here can easily find prices and other reviews (even though I personally shop these on Ebay and Rakuten and not Amazon).

  • Biore Perfect Face Milk - Says it's water resistant, I personally like the finish and can use it under makeup with no issues.

  • Biore Perfect Milk - This is great for going out in my opinion, an actual going outside face sunscreen!

  • Hada Labo Creamy UV Gel - Very light and friendly, I reserve it for interior use.

  • Shiseido SENKA Mineral Water - I really like this one and on me this has a matte powdery finish. Some people complain it goes on greasy. I find that whole it's greasier than others during application, it dries out non-greasy. YMMV.

  • Forgot to add: I use Privacy's UV Face Powder for retouching. It's Zinc Oxide based. There are other sunscreen powders on the market. My mom uses Colorescience's and it can be found on Amazon too, and Peter Thomas Roth also has one. I just use this one because it's cheaper. It's very whitish though so not the best option for darker skintones.

Finally, the cult favorite is Biore Watery Essence so I'm linking it. I personally did not like how drying this was and its citrus smell, but the vast majority of people swear by it because it's really light and easy to use everyday in interiors.

Japanese sunscreens generally contain alcohol and all the ones I listed do contain alcohol, so if you're against alcohol in sunscreen you might not like the ones I list, however there are some well liked alcohol-free Japanese sunscreens that you can find searching online, /r/AsianBeauty can be a good resource for these.

The reason I personally like Japanese sunscreens in particular is their texture and their ingredients. Most of them contain Titanium Dioxide (a physical UV blocker) and/or Zinc Oxide (the broadest spectrum UVA blocker approved for sunscreen use at the moment). UVA are the rays you need to look out for when preventing sings of aging. This is what PA and the plus signs after it stand for in Japanese sun products, while the SPF we are all familiar with only refers to UVB protection. Four plus signs after PA denote the highest level of protection currently in place.

The downside of physical sunscreen it that it tends to leave a white cast behind so darker-skinned people might have issues with this aesthetically.

There might be western sunscreens that are physical but most mainstream brands (like Neutrogena) rely on their chemical patented formula (or a mix of physical and chemical like some of La Roche Posay), which is also good, but can be sensitizing to some people. They also do have a greasier formula that remains tacky at least in my experience, and some people really hate this about sunscreen.

I don't personally use Korean sunscreens at the moment because their regulations only allow PA+++ to be the highest, but many people enjoy their variety, so again you can look in the AsianBeauty subreddit or on youtube/blogs if you want to read reviews of those.

    **

If you for personal reasons would like to get a Western brand physical non-greasy sunscreen, Paula's Choice Resist Super-Light Daily Wrinkle Defense SPF 30 Tinted Matte Moisturizer contains Zinc Oxide protection and has a matte finish!

Her line is overall well liked by people because of their choice of ingredients due to a philosophy of extensive research. I have this sunscreen and while I found it too drying for my normalish-to-combo skin, it could be a godsend for oilier people. Ideal for daily use, and it has some tint. I haven't tried any other of her sunscreens but her line is worth looking into, if you're new to building a routine! Unfortunately I'm just noticing that since my introduction to this brand in 2014 the prices have raised, most likely due to her online following growing.

    Final note:
All of which I just wrote is stuff I learned from the Internet and also my personal experiences with the products I've tried and liked, I'm not a sun protection expert!*

My favorite makeup has to be blushes. NYX blushes is a really good product. Pigmented, blendable, and the price is just right.

Revlon's Lip Butters is a great lip product. It's kind of like a lipstick and lip balm hybrid. It's somewhat sheer, but depending on the shade you get it can be bold.

Eyeliners...gel eyeliners work really well and it's actually pretty easy to apply too. Maybelline Eyestuido gel eyeliner is one the best gel eyeliner. Waterproof, doesn't smudge, and it glides really well.

Mascaras! Drugstore and high end mascaras work the stay, so I say don't get a high end (unless you have the money to spend of course). Covergirl mascara is really good and everyone really likes their Clump Crusher and Maybelline mascaras are also very good. The Falsies is one of Maybelline's most popular mascaras. Both comes in waterproof, they can hold a curl really well, won't clump your lashes, and of course, they add volume and length!

I also have oily skin, and I use oil absorbing sheets from Neutrogena. I don't think they're rice paper; it's some kind of blue, plastic-feeling sheet, but I notice that it's more absorbent than thin rice paper ones. I would say that one blue sheet gets as much oil off as 2 rice paper sheets for me. It also doesn't disturb my make up very much. I would highly recommend any blue oil absorbing sheet you can find (Clean and Clear also makes a decent one).

As far as general skin oiliness goes, I noticed a nice reduction in oiliness by using a face primer with silicone. I started out with Revlon Photoready and now I'm using a small Smashbox sample and the effect is the same.

I think your brows look fantastic! As far as DipBrow goes, I would watch a few YouTube tutorials first, that way you have a good idea of the different looks you can create with it/how the application is, and then if it fits in your budget, go ahead and get it! Anastasia has a bunch of nice brow products, so anything from them would be great, but it is pricier than what you're currently using.

I don't typically use waterproof eyeliner, but the Smashbox 24 hour eye primer is FANTASTIC to stop creasing. My eyelids get crazy oily during the day, but my eyeshadow doesn't crease when I use the primer (~10 hours? I haven't worn it longer than that yet). Urban Decay makes a really nice waterproof pencil. Currently the only color I have is "RockStar," but paired with the primer, it doesn't budge at all. This is pricey for a pencil, so if you're looking to stay in the drugstore range, Nyx makes some great eyeliners, but I haven't used their waterproof formulas.

One thing that might help is getting a different hairstyle. Your dye job has grown out and the blonde tips look kind of like the style that was really popular among the "drama geek" boys when I was in high school. Even just trimming off the dyed ends would do a lot to help you.

Also, try using a light colored eyeliner to brighten up your eyes- [Holika Holika Pink Topaz] (http://www.amazon.com/Holika-Jewel-Light-Waterproof-Liner-08Pink/dp/B0087XTD3W/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1413754792&sr=8-1&keywords=holika+holika+eyeliner) is a good one, I use it myself.

Others have suggested contouring, which is good advice- I suck at it though, so I can't give you any help there, but if you need advice on blush then go right ahead and ask me! I have tons of it. My personal favorite is the Anna Sui Rose Cheek Color but if you're in the US they're ridiculously expensive- but they do give you such a nice, healthy glow. Nars Orgasm blush is good as well, but again, kind of expensive. (Although the Sleek Rose Gold) works well for a fraction of the price).

If it makes you feel any better though, your features don't really scream "dude" to me, and from what I understand going on hormones actually changes your facial structure. If you got a haircut I really think it would help you.

Good luck to you!

I live in Florida with oily, acne-prone skin. I use mostly AB, but there are some western products that I haven't been able to find better replacements for. Here's my oil-conscious morning routine:

  • Cleanse with sulfur soap. I'm currently testing this out on my acne and recently switched from Cosrx's Low PH Good Morning Gel Cleanser.

  • Tone with Cosrx Natural Bha Skin Returning A-sol.

  • Reduce excess sebum with Cosrx Bha Blackhead Power Liquid 2-3 times per week. I find that this helps keep my pores clean and reduces oil production.

  • (After waiting 20 minutes) Protect with Biore UV Aqua Rich sunscreen.

  • Moisturize and prime with Nivea Men Sensitive Skin After Shave Balm, which is seriously the best makeup primer I have ever used. Possibly also the cheapest. Feels like nothing on my face, yet allows makeup to stay on all day. Definitely one of my HGs.

  • Color correct with Missha Magic Cushion. It's lightweight, provides good coverage, stays on and doesn't get cakey.

  • And, if I know that I'm going to be outside or busy all day, I'll spray on Skindinavia's Makeup Finishing Spray, which works better than powder and doesn't dry out my skin.
u/Kontinuality · 2 pointsr/RandomActsofMakeup

My top five right now are:

  1. Skin79's Hot Pink BB Cream. I've always wanted to try a BB cream with good benefits, but I haven't really heard good things about western brands.

  2. A concealer palette because goodness I need that coverage.

  3. This one's a bit of a stretch because I've fallen in love with it after trying it in store but money always likes to get between me and the things I love: Chanel's Rouge Allure #92 - Secrete. I couldn't find this one on Amazon for some reason. :/

  4. On my wishlist, I put the Anastasia Brow Kit, but really any brow kit for brunettes would work. But the stencils seem like they could really help me get my brows to cooperate.

  5. Stila's Smudge Pot because I've heard great myths and urban legends about this stuff and I'm hoping this would be an eyeliner that I can actually use well.

I have an ear to ear scar across my neck along with two scars on my upper chest from drainage tubes, I feel you. For trying to reduce redness and puffiness, I've been using [Palmer's Cocoa Butter Advanced Scar Serum] (http://www.amazon.com/Palmers-Cocoa-Butter-Serum-Gesichtswasser/dp/B0080ITO4W/ref=sr_1_fkmr2_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1372467175&sr=8-2-fkmr2&keywords=palmers+advanced+scar+serum). It contains Vitamin E that someone else mentioned. So far, it's been doing pretty well, my scars are still noticeable but not nearly like they were. Also, massage helps to loosen up the skin. When you apply lotion (or scar serum) just gently massage the entire area in small circular motions, it definitely helps.

If you want to cover up the scar while you are waiting for serums or treatments to work, NYX makes [this green concealer] (http://www.amazon.com/NYX-Cosmetics-Concealer-Green-0-21-Ounce/dp/B001VAD1FY/ref=sr_1_1?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1372467336&sr=1-1&keywords=nyx+green+concealer) that really helps diminish the visibility and redness.

I hope this helps! Good luck to you! :)

u/Honeylo · 6 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

There are a few ways you could go about this.

    1. Use a silicone based primer if the scar is not smooth to the touch/needs to be filled in because its concave. Like this side note this is a chafing silicone gel but its cheap and will do the job well and help the other things last all day. The primer will also help not to dry out the scar.
    1. Use a green corrector, this will go before all the other steps. Green is opposite of red on the color wheel so the green pigment will cancel out the redness from the scar. Like this
    1. Use a concealer that matches your skintone to cover up the area this is a full coverage concealer that comes with a pencil as well to make sure the fully scar is covered, if you want to make sure it lasts all day you can set it with a translucent powder or a colored powder. This will also make sure it is not shiny at all Like this or Like this If you want a more natural look and think that the concealer is too much you can just use a colored powder like the one above. The scar might still show through just a bit though.

I hope this helps you! I tried to post some more affordable options :)

Ps. You can skip a green corrector if you think that the concealer/powder will cover the scar enough already, it depends on how red it is.

Have you considered korean makeup? I am like you, I had really bad acne and makeup just exacerbated the flakiness that my acne produced. Once I got a better skincare routine and my skin started improving, I found I barely needed any makeup at all, so I looked into some k-beauty foundation and found amazing soft dewy results. The only issue is that the range of shades is pretty limited, so if you're decently tanned or darker they wouldn't work.

Two that I have and really like are the MISSHA Perfect Cover BB Cream and the MISSHA Magic Cushion. I purchased both of these on amazon for like 10$ each, and they are amazingly soft and light, and make my skin look very smooth!
The bb cream is SUPER dewy, and I don't need any highlighter with it, because it could easily go disco-ball if you doubled up on that. I like the magic cushion a lot for the portability, you need such a small amount of it and the sponge it comes with actually is perfect for dabbing on a very small amount of color correction. On days I need heavier correction I can just wet my BB and dab it in there, but generally the light sponge has been great for quick on the go. It also is more matte than the bb cream, but I like both for different reasons.

There are some good tips already here but part of getting the look right is having the right products so here are some great ones I have used and some I'd like to use:

Ben Nye bruise color wheel for those nasty reds, purples and especially the yellows and greens you wont find in normal make up.

Ben Nye stage blood in zesty mint for liquid or oozing blood. Edible is a must if you put it in your mouth but keep in mind this does not dry! If you put it on your face or knuckles and then accidentally swipe something it will get everywhere.

Scaring liquid to create small cuts, perfect for a split lip or eyebrow this product shrinks and creates a depression in your skin so it actually looks like a chunk of flesh is gone.

Scar wax is great if you want to build up a broken nose or puffy black eye but it is very sticky and needs to be powdered with either a setting powder or a foundation.

Also here is a pretty good video on how to use these products. Its only missing the scar liquid which you could just lay under the split lip and eyebrow.

Good luck and try not to get blood on Stan Lee!

I have pretty severe dark under eye due to discoloration and hyper pigmentation. I am an asian male and have oily skin. Currently I am using Bricknell Eye Balm and general cleanser for the skin; I also use Loreal True Match concealer during the day. I have also gotten restalyne fillers and under eye fat repositioning surgery, but see nearly no results. I have been doing my general facial and under eye routine for about a year. I am currently living in Seoul for study abroad but will move back to New York by the new year.

As a student, I know that my irregular sleeping and eating patterns and most likely the largest contributors to my dark under eyes. That, and the fact that I stare at a computer screen all day to study. However, I cannot really change these habits, so I am asking for any advice this community might have to help my under eye area. I use Bahama Mama for my general contour days (it's a powder).

It's cheap (you can totally find at TJ Maxx or something for like HALF what it's selling on Thebalm.com. I only paid $10 for mine!!!). A little goes a loooong way but it's great, soft, blendable. You are just a smidge lighter than me as I usually hover around NC30 and am Asian too :) so it should work for you. I've absolutely recommended it to my lighter gfs and they loved it. I hit pan recently and then like an idiot, I dropped it :| Thank God for backups right?

I made a shopping list. Pick one substitute instead of a splurge and you come in under $250. The splurges I picked are well worth the cost, though. Note also that the chocolate bar palette is the only one I listed because it's pretty much the be-all-end-all of palettes for its simultaneous pops of flattering colors and neutrality. I also believe everyone should have a gorgeous red lippie. Enjoy!

  • Real Techniques Starter Set - $13.49 on Amazon, normally $17.99
  • Real Techniques Core Collection - $13.49 on Amazon, normally $17.99

I like the Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector 5-in-1 BB Cream. It's light, moisturizes the skin and still reduces redness and pores on the skin.

https://www.amazon.com/Garnier-Miracle-Perfecter-Cream-Anti-Ageing/dp/B00JNFDO6A/

Garnier doesn't sell this on Amazon themselves though, so I'd probably get it elsewhere. Saw a couple reviews on other listings from customers saying they got expired or wrong products.

For concealer, the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer is pretty good. It's on the affordable end (Drug store brand), but has a good rep and is easy to blend. Concealers are like high density foundations, so you want to use as little as possible on the specific spots you're trying to cover.

https://www.amazon.com/Maybelline-New-York-Concealer-Light/dp/B0046VJTX8/

>Also, will wearing makeup ruin your skin?

Your skin will always be better off without makeup, but the general rule is to wash it off at the end of the day. Sleeping with it on is considered bad for the skin - But nothing that will ruin it after one night (So you'll get through hookups just fine). Just don't make it a habit.

BB Cream is better for your skin than normal makeup since it also has the properties of a sunscreen and moisturizer. It's been used by both men and women in Korea for decades to achieve and maintain that "naturally flawless" look.

u/taxidermyunicornhead · 2 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

I've been looking for SPF spray that can go over my makeup but there aren't many products on the market in the US and the ones that are available are really expensive. I've bought the supergoop and coola SPF makeup setting sprays but returned the coola and intend to return the supergoop because it's smells really bad and kind of burns your eyes.

I used the Privacy face powder and Privacy face mist everyday while in Japan. It was really sunny everyday and I didn't get burned. I reapplied the mist and powder threw out the day and it didn't cake up. They both won awards on Cosme, which is a Japanese makeup site that reviews and ranks products. The mist isn't matte like the supergoop but if you use the spray then powder if you want it to be matte. I ended up buying a lot of backups of both because I liked so much. I haven't tried the spray with the pink cap yet, but it also had really high reviews on Cosme. I would also suggest the Biore UV water rich (Also won cosme awards).

Hooray for another flash contest!!

Blue Scandal has this NYX blush in Angel cheaper and with free shipping.

Easiest breakfast item that I make and the family loves:

Sausage Bake

  • 2 cans Crescent Rolls
  • 1 lb sausage
  • 1 pkg cream cheese

Roll out one crescent roll can into a 9x13 pan. I always go ahead and bake this for about 6-7 mins, otherwise the bottom might not bake all the way and will be soggy.

Cook your sausage, drain, and add cream cheese while it is hot.

Spread mixture over layer of crescent rolls

Roll out second can of crescent rolls for the top layer.

Bake according to crescent roll instructions.

    Easy and delish!

    Thanks for hosting!!

I use an inexpensive primer I found on Amazon that I like better than Smashbox called Emori, not sure if it's AB or not.

My current routine (this is one week after I got the giant Tarte box with everything) is typically Skinfood Salmon concealer (my favorite concealer so far, creamier but stays, ousted Boiing), Aqua Petit Jelly BB in the lighter version- usually I use my fingers or one of those toothbrush brushes), Peripera or Etude tints as I mentioned with my ulta tinted balm, the TonyMoly powder which as I said blew me away, I have eyelash extensions so nothing there, and I have a cushion blush in a tube that I like a lot but I just got the other powder blush I mentioned. I also have and like the Missha cushion, but I like Aqua Petit Jelly more.

Waiting on this because I love this brand, it's a cotton candy setting spray?

Sorry that wasn't more enlightening but it has links :) I was just surprised to be AS entranced by AB makeup as I am by AB skincare because I was a MUA for a long time and have always been a product junkie and now I use my stupid expensive stuff on days I'm not going anywhere :O

ETA: I really have to check into eyeshadows now. I've kind of hit a wall because my whole face is handled, and I do want one of those TonyMoly bunny glosses!

u/kpajamas · 2 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

Typically I'll do both, but the eyeshadow would be a pearly nude with a light matte brown. Low key stuff, while my lips I mix up. I only change up my eyeshadow for special occasions, but that's just because I think applying lipstick is easier than eyeshadow haha.

I don't know any stay-away, but Maybelline's Instant Age Rewind Under Eye Concealer is my drugstore holy grail! And you can use it for spot concealing too :) I don't have a big problem with dark circles so I've never tried anything higher end. If you try the Maybelline, my only suggestion is to blend with a finger/beauty blender/brush, rather than using the applicator.

u/GypsyBagelhands · 47 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

The saem cover perfect tip concealer is a Korean dupe for Nars Radiant Creamy concealer. It is slightly less creamy but more pigmented. I would say it’s 95% as good and costs $5 on Amazon. Game changer. I don’t mess around with Nars anymore.

Well, AB does have concealers. I don't really buy AB makeup products much, but I have a Skinfood Salmon Dark Circle Concealer Cream that's pretty popular. The Saem also has a tip concealer that's widely used in Korea, I think.

Plenty of other Korean brands make concealers, like Etude House, Tony Moly, and so forth.

Oh what a lovely contest idea.

So I'm like the aftermath of a tornado. I like paper. I read books not kindles and this stems over into my work. As a grad student I read a lot a lot a lot of journal articles. And I print them out (double sided!!) and well...it means that when I really get going there's papers in my hands, papers all over the desk in ways that look organized to me but aren't. There's papers behind me, papers in a circle on the floor, papers on top of books, papers tucked into pages of books, papers with marking and papers in an unread pile. Just so much stuff!! Thankfully library desks are large and my rooms desk is even bigger. To give you an idea, these are what was on my desk while writing an essay over break and this is what I'm currently working with for a paper. It gets messy.

Item!

Thank you for holding a contest!!

u/Destinyx3 · 1 pointr/AsianBeauty

I go back and forth between using a primer and not, but I always use setting powder.

For reference, my skin type is Dehydrated/Combo leaning a little more towards oily. I use Skin79 Green BB Creme, Nivea After Shave Balm For Men (Non-AB) as a Primer, and Coty Air Spun Original (Non-AB) as a setting powder.

I have a desk job where I don't do much and generally wear lighter makeup, so usually I'll skip my primer. However, if I'm going out or planning to wear heavy makeup, I always do a primer, setting spray, and setting spray (just in case because of how oily my skin can get).

I'm planning on ditching my primer eventually and looking into Innisfree No Sebum Powder as my setting powder because of how highly recommended it is for oily people! I'll be eyeing this thread for primer recommendations :)

I suggest at least getting a setting powder and seeing if that does the trick. If not, try finding a primer that works for your skin and see if that help. If that doesn't work, add a setting spray and hopefully that should do the trick!

If you are near a Sephora try them. Or look for something like this Maybelline New York Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles Treatment Concealer, Brightener 60, 0.2-fluid Ounce
http://amzn.com/B004Y9GY44 or Garnier Skin Renew Anti-Puff Eye Roller, 0.50 Fluid Ounce
http://amzn.com/B001DPMETG at a local
Drugstore. Walgreens as a great return policy by the way.

Get a couple of the maybelline concealers that you think are close to your shade. It's hard sometimes in the store to get the right shade. I typically buy 2 or 3 that I think are close and take the ones that don't match back. These have a built in applicator.

Also gossmakeupartist on YouTube has some great tutorials on covering dark circles.

This one on Amazon is form a US-seller, this one is fulfilled by Amazon for $0.46 more if you're more comfortable with that.

While I am a girl, Green concealers made a huge difference for me to cover redness. You may have to spend some time practicing applying to make sure it blends correctly into your skin. I would dab it on, then cover with skin-colored concealer. It made a huge difference for my self esteem and really made active pimples a lot less noticeable.

u/whenifeellikeit · 1 pointr/Drag

I use the Coastal Scents Professional Camouflage Concealer Palette. I use contouring sponges something like this, moistened a bit. For full coverage, I use liquid concealer (a darker tone, and one that matches my skin) to cover broader areas and blend the contoured areas. Once the blending is complete, I use Tarte Smoothe Operator Clay Finishing Powder. I love it because it's superfine and gives a really even finish, and sucks up oil. However, keep in mind that mineral products will produce flash-back in photos. This is true for all of them, not just powder. You may want to try Smashbox products, as they're made to be studio makeup.

u/MsYutai · 4 pointsr/AsianBeauty

You could try the Missha Perfect Cover BB Cream in #13 in the lightest shade-- it's definitely got a pink undertone but it's very pale.

Another option is the Skin 79 Green BB-- I tried this one and found it too pale for me, but pretty neutral in tone!

Can probably find samples of each on eBay so you can try before buying the full size.

So first I make sure my face is moisturized with whatever I'm using at the time (I haven't really found any particular kind I prefer) then I apply this foundation and I start with the five dot method, and blend out with a make up sponge. Then if I have any blemishes I use a tiny bit of this concealer on them. After I have an even base I move on to doing my blush, which I apply on the apples of my cheeks, and then I'll take the sponge I used for my foundation to lightly blend the outter edges of that. Next I fill in my brows as lightly as possible with this gel, and I take a thin brush with a tiny dab of foundation to go around the edges of my brows and get the shape I want. Then I start my eye shadow with the darkest color I want to use in the crease of my eyelids and on the outer corner of my eyes (holding a piece of tissue paper under my eye when I do this has really helped me keep this step more neat), and on the rest of my lid (except for the inner corner) I do a mid to light tone, then I finish by adding a really light color to the inner corner and blend into the rest (I mostly use my fingers for all this because it's just what I'm used to). I don't use eyeliner right now, so I just take a liner brush and line my top water line with a shade of dark brown eye shadow (this is probably why I'm having transfer issues on the bottom, so I'll probably end up getting an eyeliner that doesn't do that). After all that I use this mascara , starting with the base coat, then gel, then fiber just on the tips, and then one more gel coat. Lastly I use this lipstick in rose, and I take the same brush I used on the edge of my eyebrows to do the same thing around the edges of my lips to keep my lipstick from bleeding. Finally once I'm satisfied with everything I do a light spritz of this finishing spray.

Phew lol! I've never actually paid attention to my process, so sorry it took me so long to write everything out!

u/stupidminnow · 1 pointr/AskWomen

Hey! Generally with undereye circles, you want to work on correcting the colored "dark" portion with a color correcting concealer. If your circles are more blue-toned, you'll want to opt for a concealer that is peach/orange-based. Orange is opposite of blue on the color wheel so it successfully cancels it out. If your cirlces are more purple-toned you'll want a yellow-based concealer (for the same cancelling effect).

As far as looking "natural" I totally understand and to address that you'll need to determine what the skin is like where you'll be putting the concealer. My undereyes are generally more normal to dry so I just use a liquid concealer and I'm usually good for the day. If you tend to be more oily in that area you'll need to "set" the liquid concealer with a powder, which, based on what kind you use (translucent vs. normal powder) it can add to the coverage.

I understand probably being a little intimidated about purchasing makeup as a guy. If you're not feeling up for going to a makeup counter and getting matched (even though there's NOTHING wrong with it, I've seen so many guys at the mall at makeup counters for themselves, it's awesome), you could maybe start with a drugstore product where the store has self-checkout. I know most Wal-marts now have self-checkouts as well as a decent selection of cosmetics. Wal-mart also carries Physician Formula which has these duo concealers with one side that has the "correcting color" and the other side just the regular concealer. I used this when I first started getting into makeup.

I gave you a link to a yellow-based product, but NYX (also a drugstore brand) has a peachy HD liquid concealer that would be good for blue undereyes. I use the shade in "Light 03" for my blue undereyes almost every day.

There's a concealer/camouflage palette on Amazon.com I bought for covering red/blemishes that works great - you may have to mix two colors to get your skin tone but once you figure out the right color it's good quality.

I use SAEM Cover Perfection Tip Concealer in #1 Clear Beige and I apply it with a rubycell puff.

Making a cushion compact? Whaaaat? I was just going to buy one of these compacts (as recommended by another ABer on reddit). But if I could make one that might save me a couple of bucks! How do you do it?

u/holybell0 · 1 pointr/SkincareAddiction

I'm actually found out about it from a channel I watch on YT about AB. [This] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00IP6GI0M/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_xXdnzbD8S2G93) is the one she recommended.

If you also search spf mineral powder, that's another non-liquid solution.

I'm African American and new to all of this, so I'm planning on trying these out and seeing if it works for people like me.

Yep! The Privacy UV Face Powder ranked #2 on Cosme's current face sunscreen rankings. Amazon has it so I'm thinking of trying it too :) Need to read the reviews on Cosme.net first. Don't know about the effectiveness compared to gel/milk/liquid ones..

Are you open to Korean makeup? I use the Skin79 Super+ Beblesh Balm with some setting powder on days I don't feel like doing a full face. :) I like it a lot, it doesn't settle into fine lines or wear off, in my experience, and I'm in Virginia, where the summer has been mega humid!

I don't know if there's a dollar limit, so here's a few and you can pick :)

That's terrible it's discontinued! Ugh!

Revlon Photoready Primer comes in three formulas, and the price is amazing. The link is to amazon.

There’s a great sunscreen that a lot of people including myself are using as a primer. [Coola Face SPF 30 Unscented Matte Tint Natural BB Cream]
(http://www.paulaschoice.com/beautypedia-skin-care-reviews/by-brand/coola/face/_/Face-SPF-30-Unscented-Matte-Tint-Natural-BB-Cream) is SO NOT a bb cream, but a mineral sunscreen and primer in one. The link is to the Paula’s Choice Beautypedia review.

Amazon has it for about $15. :)

For anyone with pale skin, I would HIGHLY suggest Mary-Lou Manizer by theBalm. It glows and shows up very well on light skin tones!

  1. I go to a hockey site on www.sbnation.com
  2. Mmm my favorite was when my mom made me homemade fried chicken, devilled eggs, macaroni salad etc.
  3. betty-lou-manizer is the top of my list right now- I'm just on a no buy...
  4. There is a real "rosie the riveter" who is still alive, kicking, and riveting!

Skin79 Super Plus BB Cream Green (in the green packaging) is a famous korean BB cream that is also very, very light and neutral. This is really comparable to Missha BB creams in 13 'milky beige' as far as the shade shade but would be less dewy and more long wearing.

I got mine for 16 dollars on Amazon and I think its Prime so free shipping, or sign up for Amazon student. EDIT: here's a link http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0065I8MC4/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I remember seeing it for $24~ on Amazon about two months ago but it has obviously jumped a lot since then. Use camelcamelcamel to track the prices on Amazon. https://ca.camelcamelcamel.com/theBalm-Mary-Lou-Manizer-2-20-Oz/product/B0065I8MC4

A lot of people seen the trio sisters palette on clearance at Rexall for $12. I haven't gotten one personally since I never seen it in the GTA area

Hi! Look what I just found on Amazon for $16. Mary Lou-manizer!

Have you tried any of the Korean cushion foundations, like Missha Magic Cushion? They are all crazy pale, which is something I didn't think I could find for myself.

u/snailbeebaby · 4 pointsr/AsianBeauty

You might want to check out SKIN79's green label BB Cream. I also have combination skin with redness and I'm a big fan of this stuff. Lightweight, natural finish, and actually pale enough to match my skin tone. I usually can't stand the feeling of foundation but often forget I'm wearing anything on the days I apply this product. This review (and its comment section) prompted me to give it a try.

Hab eh bereits angerufen, außerdem habe ich überhaupt keine Verwendung dafür.

Ich hab diese beiden Artikel erhalten:

Is this the one you guys are talking about?

u/Hellodeeries · 12 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

Ohhh, that sucks. You can get it cheaper (assuming you are Canadian and live there, not visiting) on Amazon.

edit: also, to compare pricing, the Amazon listing in CDN is around $25, USD is around $21. To buy it full-price (retail) is USD $24. That store is crazy marked up - exchange to USD is about $30 (probably includes taxes, I'm assuming).

u/ponytailnoshushu · 4 pointsr/AsianBeauty

Have you considered a SPF powder such as this or this ?

I use both of these in the summer over my make up. I've also used the Skin Aqua sarafit spray but I find it can make my foundation go a bit cakey so I tend to use that on no make up days.

u/pig-newton · 2 pointsr/AsianBeauty

I just got this Missha one today! It was too cheap to not get. I've never used MAC, but I would guess I'm around NW15? W=cool, right? I'm pink as hell (something I'm trying to fix with AB, haha). Anyway, I like it so far. I got shade 21, and I think it's light enough, though a little more neutral or yellow than I am, but it kind of cancels some of the pink.
