I’m not nSuns savvy but I’ve been where you are outside the body weight. It’s hard to know exactly what you need without a video of your fails so here goes.

If your natty:

Get milk: drink a quart a day if you’re not already if you are double it. The higher quality the better - A2/A2 grassfed raw cows milk is commonly available, grass fed goat might be better because it’s the closest thing in the animal kingdom to breast milk.

Get a d[oor anchor ](Lifeline Heavy Duty Door Anchor https://www.amazon.com/dp/B006PDLGRW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_gUEXDbRY6FPWS) and this band or one like it width and length are key. When attending a WSBB seminar they said their biggest benchers would break plateaus by using this band for tricep pulldowns 100-300 reps a day throughout the day. It makes sense seeing as how the tris are heavily engaged in a proper bench - this tactic creates proper engagement. When you have tight or well developed pecs and shoulders (ant delt) the tris can lag behind.

One tactic I did was switch over to dumbbell benching for a month. Another plateau was broken with focusing on myofibrillar engagement by lowering the weight and creating an unstable environment.

I do like the X3 bar and the research behind it. I’ve used accommodating resistance before I even knew what it was in 2008. I’m not saying buy the bar although I don’t think you’d regret it especially if you travel often or are extremely time restricted. There’s concepts to be applied the here that cost way less than the X3 bar. Hooking weights to the barbell attached by bands is a game changer.

Measuring your resting heart rate or monitor your heart rate variability is a good way to ensure you’re not over taxing your CNS. You might just need a break or a few weeks of pushups or higher rep lower weight.

If you're going to replace it, I can't recommend axle mounted openers enough. Personally use one for my shop door(16'x10') and it's amazing. Super quiet, safety features(tension sensor and laser auto reverse) and gives you back your ceiling space.

This is the one I installed myself in an hour: LiftMaster 3800 Residential Jackshaft "cable lifted" Garage Door Opener https://www.amazon.com/dp/B008Y0XZ64/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_C1KZAbEJCM9QB

I have gotten a lot off of Amazon. Like a bunch of cheap cat toys. A screen for my deck door. A comforting book. The world's best chocolate covered cherries. My favorite coffee. This fur throw to go on this chair. And this playpen/sleeper for my been nephew. Amazon's so good.

u/Ancient_Job · 3 pointsr/JusticeServed

That curtain is not inside the door. When have you ever seen a screen door inside? It looks like a magnetic screen so you can open your door for ventilation and not have bugs enter. It would make no sense to have the screen inside as most residential doors open inwards, rendering it useless.

You can see the shape of the screen here and how its over lapping the door.

Why do you want this beating to be justified so bad?

Is it because you would feel like a piece of garbage for enjoying it?

u/dotelpenguin · 1 pointr/raspberry_pi

First of all, Welcome to Pi. I'm a huge fan of them, and use them for everything.

If you have an older unit, you might look into something like this to add the capabilities and remotes for very little $$$.

Now if you are a total geek and you still wish to do it, the link nutrecht provided will work very nicely. I'm all for making things complicated for "fun" or learning. :D

u/geekofweek · 8 pointsr/homeautomation

Not a "smart home" solution, but I have a keypad installed in addition to my all the automation I use. Cheap and easy to install.

For myself I do device tracking to open / close the garage and can trigger it remotely if needed. Keypad is just a backup. If you're using something like Home Assistant you could track your friends phone, but if you're talking a lot of different people that could be more effort than it's worth.

u/Dan_O_ · 1 pointr/fixit

Had the same unit and same problem. We had a garage door guy out and he replaced the signal receiver with something like [this.] (http://www.amazon.com/Liftmaster-Universal-Garage-Opener-Receiver/dp/B0071EYS9M/ref=sr_1_1?s=hi&ie=UTF8&qid=1418933490&sr=1-1&keywords=garage+door+reciever) It only cost around $100 installed, but if your handy it looked pretty simple. Good luck

u/Jenn215 · 2 pointsr/Septemberbumpers2017

Glad you posted this!! Some great reminders for STMs too! Staying hydrated is so huge. My husband was my dedicated water person- he made sure I always had water nearby. I would get insanely thirsty the moment my daughter latched (learned it's a hormonal thing). I got a 64oz mug similar to this one and it was wonderful. Stayed cold all day basically and I didn't have to keep refilling it.

u/Thrashman69 · 1 pointr/homeautomation

u/barbiejet · 1 pointr/HomeImprovement

It's like the first example you linked. The issue is that I can't move them down because whoever installed the torsion spring bar left it low enough that if I move the top bracket lower, the panel doesn't make the turn without hitting the torsion bar mount.

The low clearance hinges are this type. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B003F1I6K2/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1475095088&sr=8-1&pi=SX200_QL40&keywords=low+clearance+hinge&dpPl=1&dpID=41FVOky1SNL&ref=plSrch

If they don't work I'll return them, but best I can tell they may work, which is better than what I have now.

u/printgod · 3 pointsr/homeautomation

You can use any kind of security system style wired magnetic contact sensor like this . That is a 5 pack for $10 I am sure there are cheaper options as well.

For Wireless magnetic options you can get something like this for $20, maybe less if you shop I just looked real quick for this one. But if your going that route I am not sure if it will hook right up with the Qubino without modification because it is setup for a wired sensor. But it would show the status in your hub.

For Wireless/Wired sensor options there is this a photoeye/refelctor option for like $40. You put the wired photo eye on the gate post, and the reflector (no wire) on the outside edge of the gate. This would prevent you from having to run a wire across your gate

u/DanStapleton · 1 pointr/HomeKit

Apparently this "Needs to be in the megathread." It's about garage door openers.

I don't get it: Virtually every option I've seen so far requires me to hard-wire a device into my garage door opener, which I'm sure I could do but would much rather not have to spend a whole afternoon on.

Meanwhile, I can buy a $15, battery-powered button that can be easily programmed to open and close my garage door at any convenience store, but you're telling me that no one has built that same simple functionality into a $10 smart plug that I can stick in my garage and program the same way? And maybe pair with a separate door sensor to tell if the garage is open or closed?

I realize this wouldn't be quite as good or reliable as the hard-wiring route but it seems like there are millions of people with older garage door openers who would snap up a $50 device that was as easy to configure as the thing they have in their car. Someone take that idea and make a bajillion dollars on Kickstarter, please.

I am told MyQ does this, but it's my understanding that MyQ is $80 and charges a monthly fee for some ridiculous reason. It is therefore disqualified and needs a competitor who charges a reasonable price for this very simple thing.

Basically what I'm building is a remote Controlled opening travel box for birds of prey. I work with birds of prey and am looking to have their travel box open via remote so I can trigger the door open and have them fly to the glove from a distance.

The door is a corrugated plastic that slides up in a similar fashion to a garage door. Basically my design is to weight the door, and attach a line to a spool on the gear motor, that when engaged, the spool will either wind the line, opening the door, or unwind the spool, closing the door. I wanted the limit switches so that when the door opens or closes to its maximum point, the limit switch will trigger and prevent damage to the plastic door.

I figured it might just be easiest to link all my components!

Are you looking for one solution to meet all those needs? I can control garage door, lights, and thermostat remotely from my phone, but each one is a different app. I use Philips Hue and its app for the lights, GoGo Gate for garage door and my Honeywell thermostat came with a device that connects to my LAN and there's an app for controlling it.

I also have surveillance cameras which use Blue Iris software, which runs on a Windows PC. Needs a pretty beefy CPU for recording 24x7 multiple cameras in HD. Mine uses an i7-4790K. Recordings are stored in the PC or somewhere on the local network, not in the cloud, so there's no worry about some company going out of business and you losing your ability to record and monitor.

I use PIR (infrared) motion detectors for the cameras instead of the image-based motion detection either via the camera or Blue Iris. Image-based detection is unreliable outdoors. Trees moving in the wind causes shadows to set it off, as do car headlights and on partly cloudy days, quickly moving clouds can set it off. So I switched to PIR detectors and they're far better. Then I wrote some code to also turn on certain Hue lights indoors when motion is detected outdoors. This is to give the illusion that someone is home and awake in various parts of the house if someone is creeping around outside. There are motion detector lights outside as well.

I was getting murdered last year. This year I'm a little better prepared. I highly recommend:

Have you thought about removing the screen door and installing one of those magnetic screens? Like this: http://www.amazon.com/Premium-Magnetic-Screen-Door-Mosquito/dp/B00CEFRCVO

That way you could have the dog door and it folds out of the way but can snap into place when you have nice weather and want to keep bugs out.

u/Fortous1 · 1 pointr/googlehome

You can use Nexx Garage but you have to ask Google, "Ask Nexx Home to open [name of garage]." I just set-up a routine to ask that when I ask open my garage door.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07H57NPRV/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_apa_i_coz3DbQV4YWTS

If you use the meross one you have to tell it your pin number to open. I have both installed and Nexx is by far better for my use case.

u/thrasher204 · 2 pointsr/homeautomation

Oh absolutely. If you're willing to run wires that's the best course of action. When they run the wires have them leave at least foot of slack at the door/windows in case you want to switch out the sensors to something else.

I see.. thanks for the insight! I am going to test one of these..

I have my fingers crossed, but my expectations are tempered.

If this fails then I'll just fall back on the 2x4 solution you suggested.

u/a_major_headache · 1 pointr/smarthome

I have 4 of these and recommend them: NEXX Garage NXG-100b Smart WiFi Remotely Control Existing Garage Opener with App, Compatible with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, No Hub Required, Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07H57NPRV/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_aeAVDbYW2HPH6
You wire them to the two wires and they can tell if the door is open or closed if you install the included sensor.

Get some of those magnetic screen doors. The dog will run right through it and it places itself back.

u/ktmengr · 2 pointsr/teslamotors

Something like this is a lot cheaper and most people have their phone on them more often than they're in their car. You can still do geofencing.

u/addrockk · 2 pointsr/SmartThings

No, they homelink buttons don't require a subscription. They are just part of a standardized RF control system in the car. They can be "taught" to control many things that operation on RF, but mostly people just use their garage door with them. They won't natively control anything smartthings though, although you could get something like this and use homelink to trigger dry contacts, which would trigger zwave or zigbee switches.

u/ArizonaLad · 5 pointsr/DIY

You need something like this. Photo for illustration only. You should get one specific to your manufacturer:

https://www.amazon.com/Garage-Door-Operator-Reinforcement-Bracket/dp/B002VCPNYI

u/you_clod · 1 pointr/dogs

You could try one of these Magnetic Screen Door. I don't know about your dog, but my dogs don't generally push their way through anything. A barrier is a barrier to them. There are kinds that stay closed via magnets and even Velcro. Something to look into. And it'd be easy for you to just walk in and out when needed

u/thrilleratplay · 1 pointr/HomeImprovement

A follow up for anyone who finds this post. Here is the result

I purchased this adjustable reinforcement bracket off of amazon. I also purchased self tapping metal screws but the door's metal is too thin to support them on their own and ultimately used #8 1" machine screws and bolts. I couldn't find cuts of wood or angle iron that fit the limited space I could mount the reinforcement bracket. I cut the angel iron so it wouldn't hit on the door when opening. I forgot to add the other piece on the top but it seems to be holding without any signs of strain. If it breaks, I'll post another follow up.

Sorry, I’m pretty new to reddit. I would have posted a picture of it, but they are similar to these and all the wires are run down to our mechanical room.

u/ajg810 · 1 pointr/homeautomation

Updating my own post because I think I figured out a way.

They make garage door universal receivers (intended for driveway gates), which are basically N.O. relays that work with garage door openers. Example I can then connect that relay to a Z-Wave switch module, such as this, and that will allow the garage door relays to communicate via Z-wave with my home automation system. I haven't tried it yet, but seems feasible.

u/slvc · 1 pointr/DIY

Is there usually any soldering required? I'm completely ignorant on stuff like this. It doesn't appear to be needed. Also need to purchase a power adapter. This is what I'm looking at:

http://www.amazon.com/Liftmaster-Universal-Garage-Opener-Receiver/dp/B0071EYS9M#Ask

u/bobroberts7441 · 2 pointsr/fixit

Is this what you need?

u/BreakfastBeerz · 1 pointr/homeautomation

Never done it, but all you would need is a compatible garage door/gate receiver, something link this https://www.amazon.com/LiftMaster-850LM-Universal-Garage-Receiver/dp/B0071EYS9M

Would use that to trigger what every automation you wanted, depending on your automation controller, of course.

u/Josh_Your_IT_Guy · 2 pointsr/homeautomation

They sell a universal receiver made for gates that had dry contacts that you can tie into a custom setup. One sec for link

Edit: here ya go
LiftMaster 850LM Universal Gate and Garage Door Opener Receiver https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0071EYS9M/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_Rv2ZDbK8A8ZVP

u/Jeph125 · 3 pointsr/diyelectronics

Sorry I'll try to clear it up. This is the door sensor: http://www.gocontrol.com/detail.php?productId=14 it is a simple device that connects to my home automation system via z-wave. inside is a simple reed switch that is monitored for conductivity and usually latched on and off by a magnet mounted to a door or window.

The Channel 1&2 are outputs used for Arm and Disarm from the GDRR.

I'll be using it to trigger an my system to arm when latched and disarm when unlatched.

Everything is 12V and the relays draw less than 150 milliamps.

GDRR: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0071EYS9M/

Relays I have not purchased yet.

In summary my goal is to use my garage door opener in my vehicle to open and close a circuit to fool a sensor into thinking a door is open or closed to have it turn on other systems that enable my other sensors. I feel this would function in the real world but my concern is if I should use other components.

u/TophsYoutube · 1 pointr/Pets

One thing that I found was something like this mesh screen door but the problem is that everything I find is pet-friendly instead of pet-proof. Anyone know of a product similar to this that can stop pets?
