Everki Urbenite

Not a briefcase but this is a very compact messenger bag with lots of pockets to carry everything. I have been using it since 2016 to carry my X1C3 and now T480s, it's the best. It has a separate compartment for the laptop with padded protection. Also it is super high quality.

EVERKI EKS620 Urbanite Laptop Vertical Messenger Bag, fits up to 14.1” https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005LMWP7I/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_PXowCbQNPKA0Q

I also have both Everki flight and Everki Titan. For a 14 inch laptop I think Everki flight is a good choice. But the Titan is an overkill because it can carry a 17inch laptop on the designated compartment.

Everki Flight Checkpoint Friendly Laptop Backpack, Fits up to 16-Inch (EKP119) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004I6MAXW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_s-owCbE5ADA3S

I am not a big fan of briefcases type bags, but I can recommend this to you because I know how high quality these bags are.

Hope this helps

u/Ghostleviathan · 2 pointsr/apple

I had this one at first:http://www.amazon.com/Incase-Sleeve-Deluxe-MacBook-Retina/dp/B00B2WS9R6/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&qid=1419784969&sr=8-12&keywords=macbook+bag+incase

it was nice because of the faux fur part in the bag but it lacked storage for accessories and other things.

but i switched to this leather one:http://www.amazon.com/Kenneth-Cole-Reaction-Luggage-Business/dp/B000UN46KW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1419784688&sr=8-1&keywords=leather+laptop+bag

and it was one of the best upgrades i've done. i love the bag as it has lots of storage and seems to have been built for macs in terms of the compartments in the inside. it perfectly fist the charger and a normal external drive. it also has a place that fits an ipad very nicely as well. this bag can also be used as like a day bag or an overnight bag.

u/penny_dreadful_mess · 3 pointsr/femalefashionadvice

oops, sorry! This is what I get for clicking off articles and forgetting they have referral links. See below for edited.

So my first thought was the knomo Grosvenor Square but at $180 it's more than a little out of your budget. However, I would look at knomo and baggallini on eBay if you don't mind used. If I remember correctly, baggallini was designed by flight attendants so they are super travel friendly and there is a great selection of them on eBay.

*I know that knomo one is olive and still $60 but I've seen black ones for about 40 before, you just have to watch.

EDIT: I found some more options, though I'm not as sure of the quality.

u/CyberJeeves · 1 pointr/SuggestALaptop

Well, in terms of a laptop bag, this option from Case Logic would work as it has 18" of space.

As for the G751JT-CH71, it's essentially the same laptop without the SSD. However, I think you'd benefit from getting an SSD because you'll definitely notice the increase in speed. However, you can simply upgrade the laptop yourself with an SSD like the Samsung 840 EVO and get more space. If you're comfortable doing that (which should be pretty easy in this machine), then I think that's the best way forward.

EDIT: I realize not all these external water bottle holders, but thought they were worth keeping as budget recommendations. If the water bottle holder is a non-negotiable, id personally gonwith the Daylite Plus as I have the Daylite (non-plus model) and love it.

Also, a bonus recommendation: Timbuk2 Rogue, Carbon/Fire, One Size https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0136N9Z2Q/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_cwyjDbAFW5Q12

I actually love the water bottle holder on this. It’s quite a compact bag, but can fit a ton when needed.

Happy birthday! Have an awesome 21st, but don't party TOO hard!

Could always celebrate by buying yourself something cool and classy for school/work/other

A game to play that goes well with friends and booze with always great.

u/MaliciousBiscuit · 3 pointsr/WorldofTanks

It might be one-thirdhalf again the price, but think of it as buying one Swissgear vs buying two WoT bags. Quality counts, you get what you pay for. Whenever I pick up new gear, I don't mind spending extra for something that lasts. For 25 bucks more, you're going to end up with something you have to actively try to damage.

This one's the only one I feel good about giving a recommendation for because it's the only one I've got personal experience with. It's tough, it's water-resistant, and has lots of space. If I did a blanket "You can count on any SwissGear" that'd just make me a shill. That said, I'd feel a lot more comfortable buying a SG than any novelty pack.

The problem is trying to get something to do more than it's intended for. [This is probably the closest you're going to get.] (http://www.amazon.com/SwissGear-JETT-Computer-Notebook-Briefcase/dp/B004N1IISS/ref=sr_1_24?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1406497889&sr=1-24&keywords=Swissgear) Personally, I didn't care for the looks, and pretty sure it had less space/padding than the one I've got. You might not be able to tell, but that entire buckle down cover (the one in my OP) is made of armor-bump foam padding. I also prefer having separate closeable sections. Don't really care for open-top compartments.

Honestly, you should just head to Office Depot and check them out first-hand, make sure they're going to carry everything you want to carry. If you're going to be carrying a lot of weight, probably want a GP backpack. Just a computer or one or two books and some notebooks, messenger works fine.

If you drop to the 40 dollar mark with SG, you're pretty much just getting a laptop/file carrier. You're going to end up holding your books, or going to have an overloaded bag that may end up breaking on you.

u/billy-bumbler · 1 pointr/chromeos

Im planning on buying one as a present soon. And Im am getting this pelican case to go with the chromebook. I know its not very flashy but The only time cases are really needed IMO is in back packs in luggage inorder to protect the device and pelican cases are very good at protection. This case should be a tight fit with the Toshiba CB35-B3340 13.3-Inch Chromebook 2. Some sources specifify slightly different interior dimensions so it could be more wise to go with the next larger sized case to make sure it fits, that case is the pelican 1085

u/drharris · 1 pointr/BuyItForLife

I've had this bag in dark brown leather (black is linked) for 6 years now of every-weekday usage, and I'd estimate it will last at least another 6 years from now if not much longer. It easily fits a laptop, accessories, and maybe a few thin books (i.e. not textbooks) inside. You could probably fit more, but it might look funny. The leather is not full grain and is going to distress a bit, but at least on brown I think it looks good that way. Even though it's not full grain (how could it be for that price?), it's of pretty high quality and doesn't seem to be wearing in a way that would damage it permanently. The zippers and buckles seem pretty solid; I've had no issues there. The only downside I've discovered is that the D rings holding the strap on allow things to "jingle" a bit when you walk. It's not really bad, but if you're in a really quiet place it could stand out. I think I read reviews about that when I bought it, and people mentioned wrapping some of the metal with some kind of tape or cloth to make it stop.

Overall it's a pretty solid bag and if that's the price range you're considering I totally recommend it. PM me if you want pictures of 6-year bag - can't upload at work but can get it for you later.

u/obmckenzie · 6 pointsr/ITdept

I use this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B073YM372C/ref=oh_aui_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I do support for small software company. I work 100% remote/from home. Twice a year I need to Fly to company events and bring almost my whole setup. While I'm at those events I have to take care of any in-house support as well as keep the regular support cases handled.

It's a good bag for me. I've been able to pack my stuff and my travel stuff (clothes/ect) in it for theses events (usually 3-4 days travel)

Anybody have experience with Texbo leather messenger bags?

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M5AGUN8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_sy8uCbPE5FQRM

I’ve been eyeing this one for a couple of weeks and it has pretty good reviews. In the future, I plan on getting a more expensive bag, maybe 3-4 years down the road. For now, I’m trying to spens under or around $200 if anyone has any other suggestions.

Another I’ve been looking at is the following: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00RF4KNM4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_cC8uCbV422CXJ

Would love to know if there’s any other niche brands I could look at beyond Amazon in that price point.

Thanks!

u/BaroquenRecord · 2 pointsr/MechanicalKeyboards

Those look very cool! Thanks for the wiki link I will check it out. Honestly since I will soon be traveling with keyboard and tablet, maybe I will just get an attache case and modify it to fit my needs haha!

u/thebigbug · 2 pointsr/Surface

You likely won't be using the Surface as a tablet (in the same way you'd use an iPad) because they're generally too heavy to be comfortable for that type of use anyway. Might as well add a bit of weight to get a ton of protection and make it easier to hold on to. I also highly recommend getting a laptop bag like the thread OP stated. Here's the one I ended up with: https://www.amazon.com/Targus-Business-Commuter-Briefcase-TBT266/dp/B01K8TYE2W

I use it with the large back pocket for papers and books, middle pocket for the Surface, and the front two for all the accessories/adapters/pens/pencils/etc.

u/wiskinator · 2 pointsr/AskElectronics

Do you have the screen already picked out? Post the model number and we'll be able to tell you if it needs a controller or not.

As for forming the case, /r/DIY might be better, but some options to consider are:

1: Plywood / MDF. Super cheap from your local home improvement center. Don't need a lot of specialized skills to use it (ever built a birdfeeder at camp / high school shop?). You can also cover MDF in automotive bondo to get a really smooth surface.

2: Plastic: You can get plastic sheets from hardware stores and places like TAP Plastics. TAP can even cut and do some minor bending if you come in and ask for what you need.

3: Metal: You'll need some more specialized tools, but you might be able to cut, bend and rivet up some small sheet metal.

4: (Best option?) Go buy a briefcase and stuff the guts in that. (e.g. http://www.amazon.com/Premium-Leather-like-Attach%C3%A9-Hard-sided-Combination/dp/B00061NLCW/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1451424965&sr=8-7&keywords=briefcase)

u/dennycee · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I really like this one and think you might too! It says for men, but whatever. It is plain, but looks like it can be dressed up or down depending on what you wear. I love the thicker straps personally because if you have thin straps and a heavy bag, they tend to dig into the shoulders and become uncomfortable to carry.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B018A8WOQG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_rLSJyb8Q3C7NF

I also like this one... It is a little larger and I think you should be able to remove the bow keychain thing.

u/ReadyAndChilling · 2 pointsr/Alienware

I really doubt it, dimensions are too small. I'm using this case for my new 17r4. It's a big heavy laptop, and pretty much fills the main compartment. It feels like I'm carrying a suit case around with me, but it feels protected.

Case Logic PNC-218 18-Inch Laptop Case (Black) Case Logic https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0038KTAYQ/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_awdb_-gfxyb21S2SRR

Alternatively, the timbuk2 messenger bags looked interesting, but not sure it they'd fit either...

u/Ayn-Zar · 5 pointsr/malefashionadvice

I'd say what work bag to carry depends on your job and sense of style. Clothing "Casualization" and the need to keep electronic devices on hand have made backpacks more acceptable in office settings, and sometimes they can be more preferable than the expected briefcase. So unless your office's culture is very conservative (or your backpack is very loud), backpacks should be fine.

If you're still looking to move on from backpacks, I would recommend (Solo Hybrid Briefcase)[https://www.amazon.com/Laptop-Hybrid-Briefcase-Converts-Backpack/dp/B00JGHVJE4]; I carry mine briefcase-style when I'm in the office and then convert it into a backpack to better navigate moving through the city/rushing for the train.

The briefcases are Solo Grand Central Attaché Cases.
On the outside each one got an Engraved Plaque with the groomsman's name and nickname.
The axe is a Columbia River CRKT Birler Compact Axe.
The liqueur is a small bottle of JW Black Label 200ml.
The little silver oval is a collapsible shot glass.
Vintage Bicycle Cards.
The inside is cut EVA foam stacked three high, carved to hold the items, glued together, covered in red velvet cloth from Hobby Lobby, adhered with Gorilla spray adhesive.
The straps are leather bracelets (also from Hobby Lobby) dyed black using Fiebing's Leather Dye, with a bronze topper (brads?) to cover the screw anchoring them in place.
I don't have a good shot of the inside top, but there is a cigar (I forget which brand, I'm not really a cigar guy). They were rectangular. You can see it at the top of the third shot.
Also a silver pen, a cigar cutter, a small survival tool, a credit card knife, and an Oz-Kurt engraved flip knife.
I also wrapped the axe handle in a Leather strapping to give it some extra texture.

Whelp, I THINK that's everything. Thanks for taking interest in my post!

I also forgot to mention I would definitely get a bag of some sort if you plan on moving it around. I ordered the Alienware Vindicator backpack but its severely backordered and I won't be getting it for a while. I got this bag as a temporary solution but it does fit the laptop perfectly. By the way, it is very heavy compared to many other laptops.

I got this one a few months ago and it's the best one I've ever had. Lots of compliments on how good it looks too.

Sure! i believe i got this in the dark brown colour. Black looks a bit stuffy but he also told me people in ortho are more 'traditional', so i figured dark brown is still safe enough. I like this bag because it has many compartments for pens and stuff.

u/TheLatestDanceCraze · 0 pointsr/frugalmalefashion

I'm on a similar hunt and there's a pretty good selection of Kenneth Cole bags on Amazon. Here's the one I think I'll go with.

u/sd0a · 2 pointsr/sysadmin

Amateur Photographer and Full-Time Sysadmin here. I agree with this. Up until several months ago I was carrying around my laptop in my camera gear bag. I recently just switched over to a messenger style bag only because my camera bag was getting cumbersome (added too much gear) to carry around everywhere.

I now carry one of these and I love it.

u/Seventy78 · 3 pointsr/malefashionadvice

I just bought this one at Amazon.

Plus, if you sign up for their clothing emails, you get 20% off your first purchase of clothing(includes bags and whatnot) up to a $1000 purchase (only includes stuff sold by Amazon.com though).

So I paid just over $100 for it :)

Hope this helps.

u/AardvarkAttack1 · 2 pointsr/apple

I've been looking at this as a possible leather bag as well. I think this is the same or almost the same model at amazon for a lot cheaper and good reviews:

http://www.amazon.com/Kenneth-Cole-Reaction-Luggage-Business/dp/B000UN46KW/

u/Mazroth · 6 pointsr/frugalmalefashion

I ordered http://www.amazon.com/Navali-Helmsman-Canvas-Leather-Computer/dp/B005MS6YDC/ref=sr_1_sc_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1418942371&sr=8-1-spell&keywords=navali+helmsmen from amazon a while back. I used the bag maybe 3 times, and the zipper busted on me. The zipper functions like this now: http://www.laupre.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/MIbrokenzip.jpg. I submitted a customer service ticket via http://www.navali.com/contacts, and never got a response.
Order# 107-3553425-0888220, bought the bag around in May. Used it three times to hold my laptop, charger, 3DS, and kindle. The zipper blew out on me a little before Thanksgiving, which is when I submitted the contact ticket.

Bad experience with product. Bad experience with customer service.
The bag did look nice while it worked though.

EDIT:
Went to the site again and this time a Live Chat box popped up with a customer service rep to speak with. I relayed the above information to him and he said "Nick
Oh no I'm so sorry to hear that! We'll gladly repair or replace it for you at no charge!
could you just send an email to returns@navali.com with the info you just submitted to me? that way our returns team can dea with it first thing in the morning!"

Wondering why I wasn't responded to previously, but this is an improvement!

u/Pt3rodactyl · 21 pointsr/flying

Depends where you commute from. I have been able to get an employee pass at every airport I’ve commuted from when I was a commuter.

If you’re in an extended stay hotel, you’ll have a kitchenette, otherwise plan to eat out or keep non-perishable food around.

I’ve never had to pay state tax other than my state of residence.

I use this: AmazonBasics Rolling Laptop Case https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00VIM9VQ8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_e89-Bb2SGAADN

For suitcase, grab a Luggageworks Stealtg series suitcase. Expensive, but it’ll last for many years. I’m 11 years and 4 airlines in on mine, still going strong.

u/skyforgerer · 1 pointr/ASUS

I have a G751 and occassionally take it other places, I have this bag https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B003ZWN8YA/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and find it acceptable. Use the shoulder strap or just the hand grip. Fits the charger, mouse mat and mouse in so does the job.

u/EunathFile · 2 pointsr/teaching

I've had this for years and absolutely love it. Different compartments for work and for laptop, plenty of room for papers, and it looks more professional than a backpack.

u/legacydeviant · 2 pointsr/SissificationAcademy

An old-briefcase will have a lock built-in. I use something similar to this. I just tell everyone it was a sentimental gift from a relative or friend. This especially works if you find an old briefcase at a garage sale or something.

Or you could buy a laptop bag and a luggage lock.

I think you're going to be hard pressed to find an actual suitcase that has a built-in lock that it not pretty expensive. Luggage locks usually do the trick anyway.

If you want to be even more clandestine, look up "diversion safes" on Amazon. They are typically not very big, but they can blend in with other things you may have already.

On a personal note: Geez, whatever happened to hiding things under a mattress like when I was a kid.

You could get a SOLO Rolling 17" Laptop Case.

It's well reviewed and is pretty professional looking. The handle collapses down into it and it becomes a quite reasonably sized laptop bag as well.

Fuckin' sweet...the hipsters are going to start traveling with a briefcase now.

It will be called Briefcasing.

This sub will be full of questions like: Can I travel for 3 months to Iceland with a Texbo Messenger Tote Bag Fit 17"?

u/ireallylikechikin · 1 pointr/buildapc

sorry, deleted my other comment. thought you meant you wanted a laptop itself ant not a bag. do you need a dedicated bag for your laptop or could you skate by with just a carry on (or similar bag) for your flights and hotels? amazon has these rolling bags.

Hard to find black these days. Brown is way more popular.

A nice leather messenger bag, if he would use that sort of thing. Or a fine scotch.

I've been using this bag as a daily laptop and workbag for 5 years, and it has held up very well.

u/ixidor7 · 1 pointr/iPadPro

I use the Solo Duane with my iPad Pro 11” in a Smart Keyboard Cover in the tablet slot adjacent the laptop compartment. I will say, it juuuuuust fits (very snug), but if you have any thinner cases it slides in no problem (and there’s a velcro strap to secure it from sliding out). I got this bag partly because it was on sale for $35 (normally $55) and partly because it’s a backpack-messenger hybrid which allows you to decide if you prefer to carry it as a messenger, backpack, or briefcase. Lots of compartments with thoughtful design (the small compartment zippers 2 sides so you can access it whether the bag’s on its side or standing). Most of these are all a little masculine, I personally wouldn't mind but I'll look for some more options:

one

two

three

four

five

six

You might be able to find a briefcase that works.

This one has a diagonal length (corner to corner) of 21.5".

Porting this here for myself.

actually it takes up less space than you think.

Hundred Dollar Bill :

  • 2.61 inches 6.14 inches .0043 inches src

  • weight = 1 gram

That means stacked up it will be 43 inches tall, or about 3 and a half feet and weight 22.04 pounds.

    This briefcase has the dimensions:

  • 12.5"H x 17.5"L x 4"W

Which means we can stack ~930 bills in height. And that we can have 2 rows of 6 in the briefcase. meaning it can hold 11,160 bills, or $1,160,000
