Okay, cool!

If you have pierced ears, you might like these dragon earrings https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01IB9MRMU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_-8WACbBJEM1WK

If you like puzzles, you might appreciate either this wizard riding a dragon https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XKXWJJF/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_AiXACb1X0J2R0 or this Thomas Kincaid Alice in Wonderland https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01KJEF5MY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_DkXACbVJSCXYY (these are on my “Puzzles” wishlist)

If you’re interested in wax seals (you mentioned stationary, so maybe?), this one looks like a dragon https://www.amazon.com/dp/B076CC35WH/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_RpXACbGB05XR3

I’m not sure if you would like the books on my wishlist; my taste is a little weird haha. But! Since you like fantasy novels, maybe you would appreciate this Lord of the Rings door mat https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00I7T9RTQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_agXACbP4CYH9D

One more! This is a complete shot in the dark; has absolutely nothing to do with any of the interests you listed. I just think this is super cool and want to show it to people! And maybe you’ll like it!

This is a clock made out of a vinyl record, with the design of a steam punk owl! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XK8N672/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_ZmXACb60Q1ZVK

Okay, so that was admittedly more than a couple haha. I hope some of them inspired you! Thanks for the contest!

I'd say something hands-on and very pracitcal like a telescope or if you're willing to shell out a lot of cash (or share with your sibling) an astrophotography camera lens (dunno what the cheapest one is) or this https://www.amazon.com/d/Garden-Suncatchers/Amlong-Crystal-Solar-System-Stand/B00THHMU4Q/?pldnSite=1 if he appreciates art and likes to look at things. But a telescope would be best since you said he isn't into sports. That way he can have a physical activity without dealing with sports. I say hands-on is best because this age the kids are all over the internet and a refreshing physical activity is always very welcome and he'll appreciate it a lot if he can do cool stuff about space. I'm glad you're taking note of his interests and you're making sure he keeps it :)

This is rather confusing lol....but I did like this one for your not your everyday gnome....

CCOQUS Garden Gnome Massacre - 10" Bear Eating Gnomes Outdoor Statues, Funny Garden Decor Lawn Patio Art Sculpture https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077FWNYT3/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_-NiWCb7V8ABY0

My ohio state gnome on my list is amazing and has been there for quite some time until last week when an awesome person on here got it for me!!! I ga e other Ohio state gnomes around the yard and what makes them amazing, obviously, is the fact that are ohio state considering they are the absolute best team ever and my college and my daughters soon to be college. I actually broke one of them recently when moving it and was absolutely devastated (pathetic I know) but they add so much to the garden that their loss is felt.

Hope you are doing awesome and dont forget to squishie!! Lol be good. 🐢🐢🐢

A couple options with a few different compromises:

  • Least flexibility/style, least labor, medium price: pre-built patio fence.

  • Most natural, takes most patience but very little labor/set up, can recoup most costs: A hedge/green fence. I'd suggest, especially if you get some good sun, leyland cypress. It grows up to 3 ft per year, so it'll fill out quickly. Just keep it in the containers (which WILL slow growth, so meh) & sell on Craigslist when you move out to recoup most of the cost trivially easily. You can try the hanging vines that /u/corbosaur mentioned, but they won't grow anywhere near fast enough within the space of a year or two. (This is what I would go with.)

  • Most flexible, widest range of budgets, but also will take the most labor: A DIY fence, as with bamboo fencing, fence weave, etc. The biggest decision point is just thinking about posts/keeping it upright. This will largely depend on your substrate directly under the fence. Stake-based solutions should hold up fine for a year or so, but if it's a patio/you can't drive stakes in the ground, you'll have to go with some more expensive options.

How about this because windchimes are awesome and sound great and I would be good with this and thanks for the opportunity

u/MickRaider · 1 pointr/engineering

I'd like to understand more about your motor selection and what makes you confident it's not the limiting factor. Your blower looks amazing, I could see that thing churning out a ton of air.

Another poster mentioned the Matthias Wandel video and he uses a tachomoter to measure the blade RPM. You should consider doing that to see what RPM your blades are actually getting to. He also uses a anemometer to measure the effective airflow to compare.

I'm relatively convinced if you increase the power going into the blower you can achieve the flow you need.

u/rosszboss · 2 pointsr/Koi

No the pump pictured is not a a 2 in 1, I'm surprised the pond has living fish in it without a filter though! And I'm wondering where the bio-balls came from! The filter has to be outside the pond otherwise you'd just have all the fish waste at the bottom instead of floating around which is pretty much just as bad.
Look up oase or green genie or nexus or rdf filters, the last two being quite a big step up in price. Basically filters are giant buckets with sponges and media and mesh in them to stop fish waste and dirt circulating and reduce ammonia and harmful toxins in the water.
Here is a filter that's quite overkill but it will keep your water perfect, is easy to set up with your current piping and has everything in on small unit, not to mention is amazing value.

One I use.

https://www.amazon.com/EcoPlus-Submersible-Aquarium-Fountain-Hydroponics/dp/B0018X2XT4/ref=redir_mobile_desktop?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&ref=yo_pop_d_pd_t2

One I use in my tank as part of my filter:

https://www.amazon.com/Active-Aqua-Submersible-Water-Pump/dp/B002JPGE6S/ref=redir_mobile_desktop?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&ref=yo_pop_d_pd_t2

As long as it's strong enough to pump water to your tank it should be fine. Stronger will of course be better for speed and getting water there. I happened to have first one because I had to replace it with second as it was too strong to use as part of my filter.

u/lk3c · 6 pointsr/birding

I'm two years ahead of you on this.

I had the best results by buying a freestanding holder for my bird feeders. I have this one.

I spent a lot of money on different feeders and food before realizing that a rust proof feeder with black oil sunflower seed was what worked best. This year, I had American Goldfinches come to winter at my house.

I also have Cedar Waxwings come to drink out of my "bird bath" which is a rubber tub that I keep 2-3" of water in with paving stones.

Do you have any flowers, bushes, trees? We have a lot of bird activity because of the plants in the yard.

u/KimberelyG · 2 pointsr/Aquariums

Coating decorations with a few layers of a polyurethane clear coat spray (like Krylon fusion clear coat) works well for most things. If you really want something to stay separate from the aquarium water, coat it with a clear 2-part epoxy (food safe or for potable water) - Pond Armor makes one specifically for ponds/aquariums: https://www.amzn.com/B00D317Q46

I posted the dinosaur since I thought it was funnier, but this one seems a better fit for Ben and Aaron: Yaway version from amazon.

u/thesushipanda · 2 pointsr/AskMen

I have three posters in my room right now, they're basically House banners from Game of Thrones. House Stark is to the left of my computer desk, House Baratheon to the right, and House Lannister's hangs over my bed.

They look like one of these: Link

Over my computer is a square custom car plate that contains the Florida Gator's mascot and a Chinese word for "luck" that my dad got me when I got into UF.

I'm currently trying to find a small canvas painting of a major city like NYC to hang over my bed, and have a similar sized painting depicting a post-apocalyptic wasteland next to it.

Posters of my all time favorite movies would be nice too.

u/thespacebase · 2 pointsr/GuitarAmps

I bought a Hot Rod for my first tube amp a few years ago—mostly because I didn't really know what I was getting into. I haven't really had the money to replace it yet. (OK, fine, to be fair, I have, but I have other things I want to buy too.)

I've managed to get a sound I like out of it—even for my chimey 12-string. Here's how I do it:

  1. Plug only into channel 2.
  2. Keep my drive as clean as possible (1 or 2).
  3. Use a volume box in the effects loop (the pre/post jacks on the center-right of your controls).
  4. (Or build that box—it's a ridiculously simple project, but when I eventually rebuild mine, I'm going with a 25k ohm audio pot, not the 100k I used)
  5. Crank the master volume and use the volume box to keep your volume reasonable.
  6. Use an overdrive pedal the way god intended—slap your shit straight into full drive, but with some actual control over your tone.
  7. the Monoprice compressor pedal is surprisingly perfect for adding just a bit of bite to your tone without appreciably increasing the drive.
  8. Just get used to constantly apologizing for your amp's uncontrollable volume and bad-gnarly drive.

Purchase a 5.5 gallon pot you want but without anything added to it.

https://www.amazon.com/Gallon-Stainless-Steel-Stock-Pot/dp/B000FRJJSM/ref=pd_sim_79_6?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B000FRJJSM&pd_rd_r=6PQ2AMFEHC2QZZ0F78MZ&pd_rd_w=34FEi&pd_rd_wg=um6x3&psc=1&refRID=6PQ2AMFEHC2QZZ0F78MZ

Then purchase a weld less ball valve. https://www.amazon.com/Weldless-Stainless-Steel-Valve-Spigot/dp/B0028ZLEE6

and a weld less thermometer
https://www.amazon.com/Bayou-Classic-800-770-Brew-Thermometer/dp/B008FEPE18/ref=pd_bxgy_328_img_3?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B008FEPE18&pd_rd_r=222Q1R1CKYW4HFP57VT9&pd_rd_w=m7gkT&pd_rd_wg=pyRcb&psc=1&refRID=222Q1R1CKYW4HFP57VT9

Then purchase a step bit: https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2?url=search-alias%3Dlawngarden&field-keywords=step+bit

Make sure it has the correct size.

Then purchase this bit for drilling pilot holes in metal: https://www.amazon.com/Century-Drill-Tool-26208-Cobalt/dp/B004UUFAYW/ref=sr_1_1?s=industrial&ie=UTF8&qid=1481229448&sr=1-1&keywords=1%2F8+stainless+steel+cutting+bit

Drill the pilot holes where you want the ball valve and thermometer, then use the step bit to widen the hole to the correct size.

I have been using this exact setup with an 8 gallon pot for 5+ years and it doesn't leak one little bit. Also you can choose whatever size pot you want, just remember that you should probably leave the thermometer at least an inch or so from the bottom and keep in mind the bottom water will be hotter than the top.

u/StellaMaroo · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Oh man... Do I have to put the most expensive item. You asked for it. :)

  1. This

  2. I don't want it. I just put it on my ridiculously expensive list because I think it's hilarious to have it on there. Once it stops being funny to me, I'm going to take it off.

  3. I would be incredibly okay if I never get this item. I couldn't imagine owning the thing.

u/mike413 · 3 pointsr/solar

I second the extension cords idea. The water dish will pull a mere 1/4 amp of current and even several cords will be fine.

(even if you are conservative, 100' of 16-gauge extension cord is good for 5 amps, 12-gauge is 10 amps)

amazon also recommended this watertight cord connector, so others are doing similar things.

u/spreerod1538 · 1 pointr/ponds

Get a filter with a UV light on amazon, it'll clear the water right up and requires probably the least amount of work. the bulb will need to be changed every year, but they only cost about $20 for 2... you'll also need a pump.

I struggled doing it without a UV light for years... then finally got the aforementioned filter with UV light and it fixed in 2 or 3 days. But as I said, stay on top of the light.

I have this one, it's pretty big...

The cord itself will be fine; it's the ends that need protection. "Waterproof outlet cover" and "extension cord waterproof connector".

Something like this where the cord plugs into the wall:

and something like this for plugging the camera into the cord:

If the water had to be replenished daily I would just shoot myself, or I guess grow in soil. Like the others said: change every 7-10 days, top off as needed, keep pH ideally at 5.8.

For pumping water out, I use a more heavy duty pump because those siphon pumps are sooooo slow.

I use this one and it can change a 10 gallon reseviour 2-3 minutes

u/thecannarella · 1 pointr/woodworking

Read up on your circle area calculation. Some devices measure in square feet for the area and some in square inches. I never thought I would have to use math again until I got into woodworking...

Had a buddy who had some extra plastic/acrylic laying around so he cut it to size. The boxes should be able to lay on the racks that come with the unit too. Just won't be able to fit as many boxes in there unfortunately.

Before that, I was going to use corrugated plastic signage. I was going to use two of them to make sure the weight wouldn't be too much, but once my buddy got me the acrylic, I shelved that idea ;)

You will need to buy a vacuum too and vacuum before you use the carpet cleaner. The machine could be used as a vacuum since it does have some suction but it's a really bad one. Different brushes are for different purposes. The 6 round spinning type brushes in good scrubbers are great for scrubbing carpet deeply but do a crappy job of lifting surface dirt toward the suction. The scrubbers rely on the water flow and detergent to dissolve the dirt instead of air suction to just lift it.

PS: Look for a vacuum with a really long power cord or find something like one of these cord protectors to let you attach a 20-30' extension cords to the vacuum without worrying about them coming unplugged. It's worth the money not to have to try to deal with a residential 12' cord on your vacuum. You may have to order a vacuum if you prefer the longer cord built in.

hot glued together from an old lawn sign, similar to this https://www.amazon.com/Sheets-Corrugated-Plastic-Blanks-Short-Flute/dp/B004U6UESS, mounting tabs reinforced with 1/8" ABS, and screwed in with 3/4" drywall screws.

Not sure if the amazon sheets are as heavy duty as the lawn sign I used - the plastic is pretty thick and probably UV resistant.
