I just upgraded the lights on my kawasaki, so I got all this worked out.

  • First, a reference for the bulbs your bike takes: https://www.superbrightleds.com/vehicle/2007-honda-vtx1300c-vehicle-led-lights?make=32&model=3563&year=2007
  • Front turn signals- I wanted to use my front signals as running lights, so I got these white/amber 1157 bulbs (it says it fits the 7528 sockets on your bike) and clear lenses. These will be white lights, then when you turn on the turn signal the white on that side goes out and blinks amber: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07JC7233R/.
  • amber/amber 1157/7528 bulbs if you don't want white/amber: https://www.amazon.com/iBrightstar-Newest-Bright-Projector-replacement/dp/B071FB824J
  • clear/smoke turn signal lenses for your bike: optional, but I like the look: https://www.amazon.com/Krator-Signal-Lenses-Indicator-Blinkers/dp/B016N2H60A
  • Main headlight: I actually kept this halogen because H4 LED headlight bulbs were too expensive and I couldn't mount them in my headlight bucket without modification. This one's more than bright enough for me, I'm really happy with it. I don't feel like I'm blinding oncoming traffic with this one but the lowbeam is brighter than my high beam used to be. But if you still want to, look for an H4 LED bulb, but I don't recommend it. I'd rather replace the bucket if I went that route. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000CR3UW6
  • Tail light bulb: red/red 1157 (says it fits 7528, your bike's size) LED bulb: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MY4T4BU/
  • Rear turn signals: amber 1156 (says it fits the 7506 socket) LED: I actually didn't use these, for a reason I'll explain below. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0739RCR3J/
  • Turn Signal Relay: You may need this to fix a problem with the bulbs flashing really fast. The reason it does that is because it expects a certain power draw, but the LEDs draw less power, so it thinks a bulb is out. When that happens the turn signals flash really fast. This replacement relay is designed to fix that and the page says it aught to work on your bike. Installation on your bike should be easy: you have to find your stock turn signal relay, unplug it, and plug this one in. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00RM26LXO
  • Some quick googling said the turn signal relay "Should be under the right side cover. The one in rubber with the plug in the "back" is the fuel relay the other one has a plug srait in the bottom, thats the one for the blinkers." I hope that makes sense when you get into the bike, check with VTX owner forums for more info.
  • All 4 turn signals lighting at once- this is something that happened with my bike, again because the power draw was different the bike didn't want to differentiate between left and right turn signals so both sides would light up. I found out if you leave at least one regular bulb in the system, it would behave normally and switch between left and right. That's why I didn't use LED rear turn signals- I can live without those being LEDs. The alternative solution I read was soldiering some resistors into the turn signal indicator circuit, which is above my technical capabilities/confidence. It's your call if you want to go that route, I'm happy enough with my setup (I actually uploaded the demo videos on the amazon page for the relay and white/amber LEDs so you can see how it behaves.)

For the fast/4-way flashing issues, I can't say if they will effect your bike. I have a feeling they will, and if they do you know how to address them. All in this upgrade runs about 90 bucks, minus 17 if you decide to stick with halogen rear turn signals.

Good lord that's a long post

So, here's the kit I bought.

The control box is around the size of a deck of cards. I stashed mine near the battery under my seat. Each LED strip has an attached wire, each pair has a different length. Connectors on everything, no soldering required.

The control box has 2 leads to connect to your battery, + is fused. I recommend installing a disconnect toggle somewhere, because there IS parasitic drain, and it WILL kill your battery over the winter. (Ask me how I know...)

It comes with a keyfob that lets you turn it on/off, change color, and change flash/pulse patterns. Really cool stuff.

I've had my bike apart for a dozen reasons, so I already had an idea about what made for good wiring paths, but in general, follow whatever is already there. Zip-ties (tweezers, lol) are your friend. Just piggyback with the stock wiring and you can be pretty sure that you're not going to run into clearance issues.

I'm pretty sure I took photos during the install, I'll try to track them down for you!

For the blinkers, a lot of folks use these: http://www.amazon.com/2009-2016-Yamaha-Ciruit-Running-Signal/dp/B00GJY78YM

I can't recommend clip-ons, but you will probably have to modify the fairings so they don't hit in tighter turns. But unless you are racing the bike, I wouldn't bother. If you are racing, you would be better off just getting a salvage title craigslist R6.

Mesh jacket will protect your arm skin a lot better than a vest, and can prevent sunburn if you are prone to that.

u/Vulcan9012 · 1 pointr/motorcycles

I wouldn't be concerned about getting flush indicators. I would be leery of doing anything that would decrease visibility. You can find some lower profile stalks that will stick out less, but still let you be seen by other drivers.

A word of caution tho, if you're looking to go LED for your signals as I have, while you get a much brighter light, on an older bike it's likely you won't be drawing enough current to activate the relay that makes it flash. This is what happens when a turn signal is burned out and why you get that fast flashing, which is what you will have if you don't get an aftermarket relay or some decent resistors to help.

Another thing you could do, which is what I did, is I rewired my stock turn signals to my brake light as well as installed led turn signals. What this did was allowed it to draw enough current to keep it from giving me the fast flash, as well as giving a dull flash in my tail light. AFAIK it's legal to have a flashing/pulsing/strobing brake light since they sell kits for it. I put the bulbs in the same spot as the brake light bulbs, but I used a few strips of red SMD 5050 in my brake light housing and they're much brighter than stock.

Edit: added link for the type of turn signals.

u/PulaskiAtNight · 2 pointsr/motorcycles

NooO!! Why did you buy eBay LED turn signals??! When you put those on, they are going to be blinking like crazy until you get a resistor. Plus, you're going to have to be super lucky for those to be as bright as any bulb indicators considering they are from China's eBay. Next time just buy these. They are brand name, bulb type, and cheaper. Still not as cheap and safe of a solution as getting a used replacement OEM turn signal from eBay. Not to mention installation would have been easy with an OEM replacement.

Don't just trust me though, or else you'll make the same mistake you did by trusting /u/PLD! Do your research!

I used the Ambother kit on Amazon it was like 35$ or so and I have the aodonly dual exhaust which was 250$, worth every penny! Only been on for a week or two but it sounds great! Without the baffles in its a bit extreme😂😂

Is the frame steel? I use a breaker bar to put about 100 ft-lbs on the lockring on my aluminum MTB's and they don't come undone.

That looks like it will be an insanely fun bike, please upgrade the brakes as fast as you can. I also recommend bright lights on every e-bike. I've been receiving much more respect since mounting two of these. They work day and night to disrupt some drivers' dangerous maneuvering. And the good drivers seem to appreciate the match of speed with lighting.

I went with these on the rear when i did the fender eliminator install. I like them. They are smaller and shorter than the stock. They are led and i feel like they are brighter. If you switch to led youll have to replace your blinker relay. I went with the tst led blinker relay, works well even with a mix of led and incandescent blinkers (like i have). I used to bump/hit the stock rear blinkers all the time, its no longer a problem. Enjoy the bike, i love mine ;)

Go ahead and slap peter on it if you like, i won't judge. I replaced the broken stock headlight on my cj360 with this:
http://www.amazon.com/Emgo-Lucas-Style-Headlight-Shells/dp/B00M9MXIBA
It has a 35/35 H4 bulb so wattage is the same and won't change your amp draw. The bulbs are from a scooter so ask for one if you need to replace. Its a real project because all the wiring is shoved in the housing but doable. Also halogen is brighter than the original incandescent. Overall happy with the result. Now if I could just get the carbs to run right...

u/[deleted] · 1 pointr/motorcycles

My bike used to be someone's summertime daytime bike. I need a winter-ready bike by... winter (PNW). As such:

  1. It's got a cheap piece of shit plastic headlight with a 35/35 bulb that's about as bright as a fart in the dark. Can't go brighter or it'll melt (new Unmeltium unit arrived the other day. Metal and glass baby, yeah).

  2. The front turn signals are integrated into the cheap piece of shit plastic headlight, i.e. are inside it. See above. (New signals have been stuck at a UPS hub for a few days.)

  3. The rear fender delete was done alright, but it's kinda dopey and once the rain comes anything inside my seat trunk is getting hosed. (Temporary solution, a watertight sandwich box! It fits perfectly! Can't stuff my wiring into it, though.)

  4. There's no license plate light. My morning commute is in the dark. (New one arrived, gonna stuff it on soon.)(That's also what I'm gonna tell whoever nabs me.)

  5. No front fender extender yet to keep the front spark plug well from filling up with water and shit and whales and halving my SEE SEES

  6. The Puig windscreen is a dark tint, which is fine, but it's also kinda cheap and tucking behind it on the freeway makes everything look like an Edvard Munch painting.

It used to be a Pointy, but now it's a Stubby. As such:

  7. There's a ton of front end wiring that's just hanging out behind the headlight. (Gonna address that with the headlight swap.)

  8. The original gauges were replaced with a Trailtech Vapor unit, which does everything but fuel level (this one does do coolant temp, which is rad) and is actually pretty neat. But the backlight is downright oppressive in the dark and stays lit for 10 mins after you leave the bike. In the dark. It may as well shout at people as they walk by. (I don't think there's anything I can do about this. Hate that bit.)

  9. The clutch cable is too short and disengages the clutch at either steering lock. It freaked me out until I figured out what was going on. (I'm going to replace the presumably shorter Pointy cable and housing with a hopefully-slightly-longer Stubby one. Gotta do some more re-sarch before I pull the trigger.)

  10. All in all, it needs more than I can afford right now, which I guess keeps me thoughtful about its needs vs its "needs."

u/NakedFazer · 2 pointsr/Honda_XR_and_XL

I have the same blinkers you have and plan to put them in my bark buster like you did. Is there any pointers that you could give me to make the job easier?

Also, what relay did you use when converting to LED blinkers from the old ones? I have read that this one allows the bulb in the cluster to keep blinking along with the blinkers instead of removing it.

Thanks in advance for any help.

u/flyinghipposquared · 1 pointr/bikesgonewild

Rizoma makes the best I've heard. Hot bodies makes some nice flush mounts for the front aswell. If you end up wanting to go the cheaper eBay/Amazon route I recommend not even trying for LEDs. Cheap <$50 LED turn signals aren't worth the box they come in in the daytime. Mini standard bulb turn signals work well and [look good] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000VSEIYU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_YzILxb4D5N0AD) IMO.

u/hab1b · 1 pointr/sportster

Get a blinker relocation kit. Save yourself a bunch of money and DO NOT get from HD. Just find something you like on the internet. You see a lot of guys using these.

Simple, clean, cheap, effective.... You can also get them in black. Then get some round bar end mirrors and call it a day. Should be able to get everything for under 50 bucks.

Mirrors

Make sure you get mirrors for 1 inch bars, and blinker mounts for whatever your fork tubes are, most likely they are 39mm.

And here's one showing two wires in the last picture:

So is there something I would have to get to use this?

I've never done this type of work with electronics before, and I can't find any explanations online. Thank you for your help! I appreciate it!

u/jgilla2012 · 2 pointsr/SVRiders

I used the Targa kit on my '05. Looks great, installation was easy (though it did take a decent chunk of time, maybe 4 hours or so). I recommend also picking up two sets of these to make the taillight and license plate LED installation as simple as possible (no wire crimping necessary).

As far as brightness, they're wayyy better than stock. Even with the tint over them, you can literally light up the entire road and then some. I had to aim them completely to the ground to prevent blinding everyone. So far I've never been bright lighted, so I assume I've fixed the over brightness issues.

u/hoyter · 1 pointr/motorcycles

What is the benefit of this over a normal flasher such as this. It seems redundant to have an additional separate brake light.

Regardless, Its always better to be seen. Stay Safe!

u/Beandipz213 · 2 pointsr/HondaCB

They’re just some cheap-o’s from amazon, but they’ve held up pretty well over the last 4 years. https://www.amazon.com/Anodized-Aluminum-Panhead-Mounting-Kawasaki/dp/B00E5VXI5E/ref=mp_s_a_1_16?keywords=low+profile+turn+signals+motorcycle&qid=1566649990&s=gateway&sprefix=low+profile+turn&sr=8-16

The bulbs blew out almost immediately, but I ended up switching everything to LED anyway.

u/WazzuCougsAllDay · 5 pointsr/Triumph

Took /u/Agammamon 's advice and decided to keep the rounds on instead of swapping to the bug eyes. The LED lights came from Amazon and are crazy bright. Took about 30 mins to swap both.

Great recommendation.

I bought aftermarket because the rubber arms on the OEMs had rotted.

I actually didn't get LEDs as I couldn't find any that looked close enough to stock. In the end I got these and these. The second link is for the dual filament model so you can keep the running lights like stock.

It looks like Amazon is out of stock for those particular ones but the manufacturer is definitely still making them.

Twelve bucks. Pick up a switch and fuseholder for another ~5 each. Just wire it in where the battery meets your controller. The voltage stepdown is built in so you don't have to think about it, and it's... really goddamned bright. I fashioned a different mount for mine because the included one is flimsy. There are two threaded holes in the body so you can get creative.

These are the lights I choose.Lights the install is simple the real issue trying to hide them and also prevent them from getting burned by headers and or engine. I also discount the lights cord so they dont randomly eat power from my battery only cut it on if I am riding at night
