🎓 Reddit experts on puffed snacks
The comments and opinions expressed on this page are written exclusively by redditors. To provide you with the most relevant data, we sourced opinions from the most knowledgeable Reddit users based the total number of upvotes and downvotes received across comments on subreddits where puffed snacks are discussed. For your reference and for the sake of transparency, here are the specialists whose opinions mattered the most in our ranking.
I know about a lot of these as I'm quite obsessed with food volume, but those Coco Lite things are exactly what I've been looking for. I love rice cakes with PB2/Pudding Mix/Syrup, but I've been trying to find better options. My best alternative I've found has been these, but they seem expensive:
https://www.amazon.com/Suzies-Whole-Puffed-Crackers-4-9-Ounce/dp/B000FDKUSO
Yours are probably easier to find and less expensive.
I also have a few things to add:
If you love cereal, trust me, this is a life saver. A whole bag is 500 calories, that's nearly a 1/3 of regular cereal. You can easily flavor it with truvia, pudding mix, syrups, pb2, etc. They also have puffed rice which is great too. Might be a little difficult to find but well worth it if you want your cereal fix without a ton of sugar/calories.
I think I'll stop there for now haha, but if anyone is interested in more suggestions just let me know. I've become kind of an "expert" on these types of foods, for better or worse.
Just got my box in, here's my review:
Will I order another box? Maybe...to be determined. Pretty much, I tried them just to try them. I have 90 packets right now (one 30-pack box of each flavor, minus what I've eaten so far), so I guess I'll see in a month or so how I feel about them. I mean, the enriched-snack market is getting pretty saturated. Just a few picks off Amazon: (prices are sometimes vastly cheaper locally at B&M stores, FYI)
Also, at 100 calories, it's not hard to make your own bite-size snack bars. With a DIY 'lent, it's a little more work because you have to get a lot of ingredients, but for a 100-calorie snack with a bit of protein & some probiotics, there are a variety of options for quickly & easily making a large, inexpensive batch of macro & micronutrient-laced snacks in your kitchen at home. For example, I make a new recipe off ProteinPOW on just about a weekly basis, which are dessert & snack recipes based off protein powder. I also make a variety of energy-bites, bliss-balls, and fat-bombs, which you can do in everything from a classic granola bar flavor to a pumpkin-pie flavor, as well as different kinds of energy & snack bars (knockoff Clif's bars, Lara bars, homemade granola bars, etc.). The Soylent Squares seem to have 4 primary benefits:
Very low calorie foods:
Mischief Managed
I know you mentioned he already has plenty of porridge, but what about some flavor combinations that he might not have had? https://siroousa.com/menu-kfood/ Under Siroo Juk, there are a variety of flavors for rice porridges. The curried one and abalone are some of my favorites.
I also really enjoy steamed kabocha squash that has been blended into a kind of pumpkin porridge.
I really like custards/pudding type things. http://notwithoutsalt.com/st-john-bakery-doughnuts/ This is one of my favorite vanilla bean custards, and could definitely be enjoyed on it's own. https://pinchofyum.com/blender-lemon-pie The filling for this pie is also very simple and could probably be made without pie crust in ramekins.
As for soups, what about soups from various cuisines? Korean silken tofu stew is pretty soft and you could easily adjust the stew by straining the vegetables and meat. There are pre-made seasoning packs of the stew (https://www.amazon.com/Jayone-Foods-Broth-Seasoning-Seafood/dp/B00AWSR4T0?th=1), that you could dress with even just some onion and zucchini that has been chopped very fine without meat, starting with swanson's chicken broth as a base to make up for not putting meat in. https://seonkyounglongest.com/silken-tofu-soup-soondubu-jjigae/
https://www.koreanbapsang.com/gyeranjjim-korean-steamed-eggs/ Steamed eggs comes out quite soft as well.
Also, for some textural intrigue, there are some snacks like Mochi puff snacks: https://www.amazon.com/Milk-Mochi-Puffs-4-Packs/dp/B0772QNZ9N or https://www.bokksu.com/collections/september-19-bokksu-moon-festival/products/funwari-mejin-mochi-puffs-black-syrup-kinako. They quickly dissolve from feeling kind of solid. The closest western snack that has a comparable texture that I can think of is puffcorn: https://www.amazon.com/Chesters-Puffcorn-Snacks-Cheese-Ounce/dp/B009IMDTYK/.
By the way, I think what you're doing for him is such a sweet gesture.
Bottom line is that you can have anything you want as long as you fit it into your macros. If you're only doing keto to support your boyfriend then you can be a little more liberal with your choices but if you're wanting to lose weight then start to ween yourself off of those foods while making better choices with the other meals/snacks you're eating. You will probably find after a while that you're not as hungry as you previously were so it will be easier to eat a smaller amount of the things you listed so the process will occur naturally and you shouldn't be anxious about needing to quit them cold turkey.
As an anecdote, I loooooove bread pudding and my brother-in-law makes the most amazing bread pudding. It has more sugar in it than you should eat in a lifetime but I was able to eat some and fit it into my calorie deficit limit and still lose weight. Certainly not something I'd do frequently but the point is that you should still enjoy life. If those foods you listed are part of your enjoying life then eat them. Just be more reasonable and make better choices where you can make them. Don't make Keto a 'diet', make it a lifestyle change and lifestyle changes take practice and tweaks over time. It doesn't have to be perfect today.
OMG. My latest obsession centers around food. I <3 food, and this obsession is absolutely, heaven sent amazing!!
Seriously. It's like a party in my mouth. The Angels are singing whenever this food touches my tongue. If I had known this existed before we bought a bag for our kids (who don't care for it...whaaat?!?) and I tried it, I would have bought it a long time ago.
This is my latest obsession, the object of my affection. It is SO GOOD. I think this stuff is so disgusting. To me, it tastes like how I imagine what poop tastes like.
If I don't have a bag of that, I literally go through withdrawals. If I could, I'd put it in an IV and eat it that way all the time.
I have some of this stuff on my wishlist. However, it is an add-on item.
If you can't do add-ons, can you do these if I win, please? They are another obsession of mine, with some sour cream or ranch. Yum!
Mmmmm...3.14. I <3 pie too, but it's not my latest obsession.
Thank you for the contest!
http://www.amazon.com/Pirates-Booty-Baked-Puffs-Cheddar/dp/B008Z4Y3FG/ref=sr_1_3_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1464923475&sr=8-3&keywords=pirates+booty+snack+bags
They're amazing and one bag is 70cals. I would not buy from amazon because 1 case for $23 is such a rip off. I went to a wholesale place and they had these things on sale for $3 (normal like $10) a case, and I bought like 3 (I should have bought more!). I checked the exp date, still good.
I've heard lots of great things about the peanut snack Bamba. I ordered some off Amazon. The only ingredients are peanuts, corn, palm oil and salt. They also are easy to eat for babies, as they dissolve in the mouth easily.
I will love you forever <3
I just realized how calm my character is compared to everyone else. They're all freaking out over the end of the world, but I'm just like "Got my Cheetos. Life's pretty chill right now." /crunch/ "F*** yeah."
Lol, why can't there be a happy medium?
And guess who took a sip o' dumb 🅱️ juice, and decided to order 8 packages of those from Amazon?
https://www.amazon.com/Woodstock-Rice-Bites-Organic-Strawberry/dp/B01CUDKZ4A/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_325_t_2?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=TJ8AS9PW122KVY7R4DGS
Why am I like this???
We stan The Black and White Thinking Gang 😩👌🏼
Edit: It's usually safe when I get 1 bag at a time for like $4 from an expensive local vegetarian store (the price dissuades my parents from buying it for me often), because the worst I can do is eat the whole bag in 1 sitting, which is 300 calories. But now my dad is ordering me 8, and if 8 are in the house, nobody is safe. Well, at least I won't be 😬
Happy Zambambo
Here is what shall burn my mouth in oyur honor!...I love spicy things.
=O No.
Forgive me for my ignorance is there is any. But I think japan would have amazing vegetarian options. Who gets tired of vegetable rolls? Not me. She should try some avacaodo, veggie, and squash rolls, as well as Inari and vegetable tempora. Depending on the soups, she can probably have an undon noodle soup!
Asian tofu dishes are amazing. My friend traveled to asian countries and as a vegan and had little problems. She even wrote about the food she ate.
Bring her some. of these!

Frito lay also sells chips in firm canisters like these:
http://www.amazon.com/Frito-Lay-Cheetos-Crunchy-4-25-Ounce-Canisters/dp/B000YPO6RO
With the hard exterior, the chips are still well protected against crumbling. And yet these are also only filled to about 50-60%, with up to 40% empty space. Care to explain that?
Kind of way out there, but maybe you could reuse some containers? There used to be kind of giant containers of cheese puff rounds everywhere that were clear. You could cut it to the preferred height.
Pic to what I am talking about:
https://www.amazon.com/Cheese-Balls-Real-Snack-Ounce/dp/B0001UXQ9Q?th=1
Edited to add:
If you were willing to go opaque, coffee containers from Maxwell and/or Folgers are a good size too. I am planning on repainting a Folgers container to transplant an Oncidium that's outgrowing it's 64oz deli container.
haha. fair enough. they're on Amazon but we may switch to some PB cheerios when we get our pincher grip down. :)
https://www.amazon.com/Cheetos-XXtra-Flamin-Hot-Crunchy/dp/B00FY7WBLK/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?keywords=xxtra+hot+cheetos&qid=1574438610&sr=8-4
No idea if they ship outside of america but I dont see why not. Get them if you can, they're fucking awesome.
Hi, sorry for the late reply. It taste similar to shrimp cracker ( http://www.amazon.com/Nongshim-Shrimp-Cracker-Ounce-Packages/dp/B000LQNK6Y ) while giving you the hard and crunchy feel to it like regular hard crackers. The after taste of it is very enjoyable. There are also different flavors of this cracker such as wasabi, shrimp and cheese I think.
They sell Flamin' Hot Cheetos on Amazon. Kool-Aid as well. I know that's not technically an exchange.. but trying to do whatever I can do to help your craving.
I know they sell the Cheetos where I am, Midwest USA, and we have plenty of Kool-Aid too.
I just want to know if they are comparable to the Nongshim shrimp flavoured crackers coz those things are amazing.
I once ate an entire giant bin of cheeseballs due to munchies. I'm not sure if I'm proud of that or not....probably shouldn't be lol. In Texas they have Griff's which is better the taco bell when it comes to stoner food.
Can confirm: are delicious.

Want some booty?
Suzie's Thin Cakes are about 15 calories each and I sometimes use them as an alternative to sandwich bread. I actually really like them too, and as a bonus, I can put a bit more of the sandwich fillings. Dave's Killer Bread also does "Thins" which I buy which are either 60 or 80 calories depending on the type you get. Here's a link to the Corn Thin Cakes in case you're interested. They are with rice cakes in the grocery store https://www.amazon.com/Suzies-Cakes-Quinoa-Sesame-Ounce/dp/B00BFJ4Z6K/ref=sr_1_4_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1483649214&sr=8-4&keywords=suzie%27s
Suzie's Thin Cakes.
Great plain, dipping into salsa, low cal hummus [I have a 35cal/tablespoon one], soup, spreads [cream cheese OR peanut butter, jelly, etc], deli meat, cheese, etc etc. The pack I linked is 48cal/3 slices.
whenever veggie booty goes on sale i go nuts and buy like 6 bags and sit in a corner eating them like a crazy person...so yes get some veggie booty
Try Bamba-an Israeli snack that is similar and yet better.
Link:https://www.amazon.com/Bamba-Snack-Peanut-8-Count/dp/B0078DPBII
https://www.amazon.com/Coco-Lite-Muligrn-Pop-Cakes/dp/B007PEHCFK
I like these with nut butter.
I put chocolate halo top in the microwave on defrost for two minutes so it's soft, and then mix in pb2. Tastes really good. Also if I crave something crunchy but don't have many calories I spread chocolate pb2 (with water mixed in it) on one of these.
This is a popular peanut snack that you can crush up and add in food or just give plain
These are so good, almost as good as cheetos. I get Pirate's Booty brand[in the US.]
E- Added amazon link but I've seen them at Walt Mart.
A quick Amazon search fruited gold: http://www.amazon.com/Cheetos-Flamin-Hot-Crunchy-Pack/dp/B003FQ4G2Y/ref=pd_sim_gro_1
If you don't find anyone ( I'm on east coast too) they do have them on Amazon

Doesn't exactly qualify as a food, but my dude will always eat Bamba. Anywhere, anytime.
This stuff: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0078DPBII/ref=sr_ph_1_s_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1492373268&sr=sr-1&keywords=bamba
I am addicted to those XXtra Flamin Hot Cheetos.
Ever hear of Amazon?
I think most Americans would react similar to Korean shrimp flavored crackers or cuttlefish flavored peanut balls, but I can't get enough of them now that I'm accustomed to them.
http://www.amazon.com/Pirates-Booty-White-Cheddar-4-Ounce/dp/B000CONMBS
Is it this? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007PEHCFK
You're in luck!
They still make these in other brands. They sell big tubs of them at Sam's Club.
edit: Here they are.
No problem! Here is an Amazon link if you want to try some.
