A tablet + a server running plex.
Replaces a TV, DVD player, Hulu, Netflix, Amazon et al accounts. Provides tons of entertainment when at home and when traveling.
Sleep Stuff
Personally I think there's really no proper way to value a good night's sleep. After years of dealing with poor sleep due to breathing problems in a dry climate and living with obnoxious neighbors whose religion prohibits using headphones figuring out some cheap solutions to my sleep issues has yielded immeasurable quality of life improvements.
Nasal dialaters.
I was having a lot of problems sleeping due to narrow nasal pathways + seasonal changes and my BP was off the charts. The quality of life improvement from quality sleep is hard to quantify as a value.
[Really comfy sleep masks.] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FJQFJX8/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&th=1)
The inner lining on these ones reliably peels off for me but I still use mine and I think I could put these on 1 mile from the sun and not see light.
Super comfortable noise canceling ear buds
I have a ridiculously loud 300lb stomping upstairs neighbor who enjoys putting together furniture at 3am due to either meth or sleep apnea or both. He also really enjoys his shitty 1990s R&B. I've had several confrontations and he's changed some of it but you can't request someone not walk around their apartment when they want. I think he has knee problems so his steps are really heavy. These things are the best answer I could find. If I put these on + a TV show it drowns him out. It sucks to rely on noise to cancel out other noise but I love these things, they're super comfortable and they do the job I need.
Coffee Stuff
GeneCafe Coffee Roaster
So I'm the sort of person who is willing to spend the right amount of money when there's value. For me roasting my own coffee provides tons of value. For starters you can order green beans online for $3-5 a lb. I order 6+ months worth of coffee at a time for around $100, give or take. This roaster has now paid for itself compared to buying coffee at my favorite roaster and is in line with the stale, burnt tasting shit you can buy in giant vats at the grocery store.
But beyond just that I get the supreme joy of truly fresh roasted coffee roasted to a level I like which is a lot different than the black and greasy shit you'll get at Kroger's or whatever. I also love that I can bring this is going to be useful if/when I'm living on a homestead somewhere.
Stainless Steel French Press
Goes with the above. I used to buy glass ones and break them, but this $40 french press will probably last for a very long time with only the screen to worry about replacing and god only knows how long that will take.
[Rough Bur Grinder] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001804CLY/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1)
I really enjoy replacing electronic equipment with stuff I can power with elbow grease. It's not much of a workout, but it's quieter and still does the same job as the electric one I had purchased and unless other electric ones I'm not sure this one will ever break. My previous ones would break/clog constantly, this one has been trucking without issue for a year and I suspect will last several.
Neti pots are the best! I was actually going to recommend something similar, but a little more intense than a neti. It's called a Nasaline Flush. It's basically like a neti but you powerfully push all the saline solution up your nostril rather than the gentle neti. My ENT had me on a protocol of it pre/post sinus surgery for chronic infection, and it really is amazing!
Here is the link for it on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Squip-Nasaline-Nasal-Rinsing-System/dp/B000U3OJ0Y?keywords=nasaline+flush&qid=1537814258&sr=8-1-fkmr0&ref=mp_s_a_1_fkmr0_1
Good luck and feel well!
Nice, glorious mustache as well sir. Is that a nose pathway opener thing in your nose? I sleep with this one sometimes.
I am not sure if they have them where you or not but maybe you could order some? This is how they look, they basically help hold your nose open to all you to breath better while you sleep.
nasal strips at night make a huge difference
I've also tried these which are good but fall out
And these which were not comfy to me
I think you can't do much else but these products help. Btw a rhinoplasty is generally cosmetic and doesn't fix a deviated septum. You're looking for a septoplasty. I had one but unfortunately was unlucky and it re-deviated back to how it was.
Edit: also a pro tip you can usually see a deviated septum more clearly if you look at the nostrils.
Not sure if it's what Arin talked about, but there's always Breath Right. They're adhesive strips that you put on your nose before bed that keep your nostrils open and help you breath better while you sleep.
order them now! i keep procrastinating on things like this too.
My husband insists our 70lb dog sleep on our bed every night. I swear I never get more than an hour or two of rest before I wake up for some reason or another, and he doesn't even snore! my cat likes to walk on me, too. and yeah, its cute, how can I get mad that she wants to snuggle?
My not-overweight partner snores terribly, he's had sinus issues his whole life and that's the way it is. He uses nasal strips, they don't fix the problem completely, but at least when he lays on his side there's diminished snoring. As long as I get into a deep sleep before he starts snoring, I usually manage to sleep through the night. He also offers to sleep in the living room when I seem particularly upset about it, and I appreciate that gesture a lot.
Best of luck - and try not to blame yourself for an extremely common problem. Being even more hard on yourself, as I know too well, won't help you lose weight any faster.
One thing you might try, it worked for my snoring wife, are snore strips.
Here is the first link a quick google turned up. They might not work for you but they aren't very expensive.
Basically you stick them on your nose when you go to sleep and they gently keep your nasal passages open. Might be worth a shot.
edit: typo. you should try a thing, I should try and think.
I used a mask! It worked much better than a bandana, however it's not practical to have on at all times. Someone last year, posted a link to these nasil filter thingys that go inside your nose comfortably. I'll try to find them.
Edit; found them!
I use these and the stronger ones. I have them in each type depending on how breathable i need or where I'm going to be. They work really well!
This or this or this. Haha sorry I feel like all the items on my "under $10 list" is now considered an add on item and I was really beginning to hate them until now.
Thanks for the contest and now I really want sushi.
Edited: to make my link show up right
In terms of the snoring, I used to be a snorer but my dentist taught me how to fix it!
Every night at bedtime, I tape my lips together with medical tape. And I slip one of these into my nose: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B011LR55UU?psc=1&ref=yo_pop_mb_pd_title
Not only did my partner start getting better sleep, but I started waking up more well-rested, too.
These "in-nose" filters are an option. They do help my severe pollen allergies, but you have to get them to fit right + breathe through your nose, of course.

These strips would be amazing. My boyfriend snores a lot & I miss sleeping. :P

These help a lot for myself, but if your husband has apnea or something serious it will probably only make him a little quieter. Worth a shot though.
I use these,

The ends expand out to make the hanger longer. It is also thicker than a normal plastic hanger and the hook swivels. These things are legit.
anyone tried these?
