Hey, I may have a solution. I have a Brinno TLC200 that I too used for a one-time project, my patio project. I paid $159 and will take $80 (plus shipping) for my Brinno. It is like new except for the 2 weeks I used it. It includes the camera body, weather-resistant housing and mounting bracket. If you want to discuss further, dhlindsey at gmail.com

Here is the Amazon link for the Brinno I purchased: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01K3YNXAQ/ref=ppx_od_dt_b_asin_title_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I just checked with Brinno to see if the TLC200 (not TLC2000) will do what you need. I sent Brinno an email with your question, "I want a camera to remain outdoors and take 1 picture every half hour for one week." See their email reply below:

Hi David,

Thank you so much for contacting us😊. To your question, yes, TLC200 can do it, and also all the other cameras of TLC series!

For Battery Life chart and Specification of TLC200, please visit: https://brinno.com/time-lapse-camera/TLC200#battery

Please feel free to contact me if you have any further questions!

What's your budget?

When purchasing a used motorcycle: http://www.clarity.net/adam/buying-bike.html

Included is a fairly comprehensive list of red flags, minor concerns, and questions to ask previous owners. It includes other resources as well.

Read it, study it, take it into your heart. Become one with the list.
BE the list.

Remember to plan your budget to include gear - basic gear (helmet, jacket, pants, boots, gloves) might run somewhere around $1,000.

Please purchase hearing protection. Trust me, you'll thank me in few years.

If you want an action camera to record your rides, I recommend the Aokon Sj7000

$40-$70, spending on where you get it.

Has WiFi. 1080P @ 30fps. 170° wide angle video. 12M still images. Has Dash-cam mode and motion detect mode.

I bought one on a whim, a week ago, and I love it. Worked great in the pool and at the beach. Comes with a bunch of accessories. 1 year manufacturer warranty.

u/nutzzo · 5 pointsr/gopro

There was a page that reviewed and compared gopro and similar copies. ^EDIT ^link ^below

Chinese brands were marketed as 12MP but its sensor was in fact 2-3MP amplified.

The 1080p60 (or was it 720p60?) was 30 frames per second, and every second frame was duplicated! so... check before you buy. ^EDIT ^link ^below

Also I opted for Hero 2014, since it's a well known brand so if I ever have problems I know I will be able to look up for help online.

For example here in Peru they sell:

This is very cool. I checked out this. the pricing is a little tough for me to jump on, but I will be more than happy to have a cool toy to play with after the wedding!

u/RubberReptile · 3 pointsr/ActionCam

WiMus: Wouldn't bother with it. It's just a generic body so probably an Allwinner V3 processor, which from my experience renders pretty poor video unless properly optimized. Being a generic, it'll likely not be optimized. It'll also be a low resolution sensor. Lots of reviews on the product were of free samples and are untrustworthy.

VicTsing: Again, same thing, low end hardware, not real 4k. It doesn't explicitly state what sensor/processor are in it so I'd avoid.

SJ4000: Great 1080p video but it's limited to 1080p30. The still photos are also super low res.

My recommendation? In this price range the SooCoo C30 is the best of the bunch from my experience. 12MP sony sensor, decent processor and real image stabilization.

Hi! Does anyone know where I can buy one of those forehead phone mounts? Like this one. I'd love to record some footage from my pov but I can't afford a gopro and my phone's camera is good enough for me. I'll mostly be walking around with it strapped on so I don't need a super amazing one. I'm using an HTC one so it needs to be big enough to fit it.

Thanks!

u/geekandwife · 0 pointsr/photography

A older model gopro.. small enough for her to take everywhere and waterproof and pretty darn durable.

https://www.amazon.com/GoPro-Hero5-Black-E-Commerce-Packaging/dp/B01MT0TJOM

That with a https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DGNKNNY/ is a great kids camera. I know mine loved taking pictures underwater, and videos in the pool and still having decent pictures otherwise.

u/RVABikeGent · 1 pointr/cycling

The one /u/mjm1138 mentions and /u/GammaGlobulin has linked to is a rebranded Polaroid camera much like the MetroFlash e360. I've been very happy with my MetroFlash - it's a good camera. The monoprice one should be work well too.

u/cwacht · 1 pointr/washingtondc

For $100 you could get 2 of these. Then get all this so you can mount them any way you like.

You can shop around and find even cheaper actioncams. Just make sure it is well reviewed. They wont be as good as the latest gopro, and they'll only capture a license plate number under ideal conditions, but if you ride in traffic often and arent willing to spend much, these are great.

u/happybadger · 3 pointsr/Colorado

This is my new baby, a Xiaomi Mijia Sphere spherical camera. I'm still figuring out how to get the best photos out of it, but managed to get some good panoramic shots and videos from Green and Frozen Lakes in RMNP yesterday. I'll upload the rest throughout the day and link them here if anyone is interested.

Sure, HERE is an Amazon link for the one I own and can vouch for. There is also a newer WiFi version which is basically the same thing plus wifi, although I've never used it considering the battery life on mine I think unless you really, really need to be able to frame your shots with your phone or something then save yourself the money and get the wifi-less one.

Granted, this is the "top of the line" for the Polaroid action cam's there is even cheaper ones with lesser specs to be had for really very cheap.

u/wifflebb · 1 pointr/cycling

I'm going to throw the TomTom Bandit in here for consideration. Longer battery life than GoPro (up to 3 hours in 1080p). Shoots up 2.7k. And the design is really interesting in that you can buy an additional "battstick" for around $70, so changing batteries on long rides is way easier than with any other camera I've used. It comes with an adapter so you can use it with GoPro mounts. And putting it on and taking it off is much easier than with GoPro.

u/oneeyebear · 5 pointsr/amazon

It's called a Front Row apparently but the image you show has a metal chain.

FrontRow FR Wearable Lifestyle Camera, Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073V5S5Q1/

I have never heard of it before. Just in this for the adventure =D

u/jgysland · 6 pointsr/washingtondc

I've got a Contour Roam as well, which I like as a helmet cam because I'm a terrible, vain creature and think conventional action cams stuck to the top of helmets look awfully silly.

If you're less vain -- or if you can find a Contour Roam at a reasonable price point, or you want better video quality more than you want to look cool -- I'd also recommend a Yi 4K (presently $170 on Amazon, but you'll probably want a ~$15 - $40 waterproof housing, and also some way to mount it). I've got one that I've mounted under my handlebars (in addition to wearing the Contour on my helmet) and I'm very impressed by it. It's got a removable battery, too, and you can get extra batteries real cheap.

One final option, if you're inclined to the action cam form factor but don't want to shell out $170 for a Yi 4k (or even more for a GoPro or what-have-you) is the recently-announced and very well-reviewed Yi Discovery, which as far as I can tell (though I don't own one, so no guarantees) is more-or-less the same thing as the Yi 4k, sans the mostly-useless image stabilization feature and with slightly slower frame rates (4k @ 20fps, 1080p60), but it's only $60, which is a steal. It uses the same batteries and other accessories as Yi 4k.

EDIT
Also: r/bikecammers is a good place to ask for advice on this stuff.

u/anti_crastinator · 1 pointr/bikecommuting

Seems like the Fly6(ce) has some bad reviews:

https://www.amazon.ca/Cycliq-Fly6-Bike-Camera-Light/dp/B077NNSRDL/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=Fly6%28ce%29&qid=1558040861&s=gateway&sr=8-1

But, admittedly, some of those people seem like they just might be intelligence challenged.

I'd love to get cameras, as I feel it's only a matter of time until something happens. 50km a day on rural roads though, people doing 80kph not sure I'd survive that something

u/WhoKnowsWho2 · 1 pointr/Nerf

Better to view everything...

It should do 640x480 at 60fps so that won't be widescreen.

Could also get that cell phone mount thing and use your own cell phone. If you have a modern one, it will probably record just as well.

Edit: it looks like if it is that Vivitar DVR 785HD camera, the reviews aren't great...

But you get mounts...

The Hero 3 is more expensive because most Amazon sellers live under a rock and haven't realized that prices have dropped. Check [this] (http://amzn.com/B009SD6ZIG) in the surf edition. It's sold by Amazon and is cheaper than the 3+.

I'm a regular motorcyclist. This is everything I have on me when going out on it, whether commuting to work or just going for a day ride.
Being a motorcyclist I'm more likely to be involved in or be the first (or first prepared) person to deal with an incident on the road.
My kit is a lot of first aid and safety related equipment. The notebook I'll use if details need to be taken down before the police can arrive.

(Taking the picture) Samsung S8

  1. Water bottle
  2. Palmer's Coconut Oil Handcream
  3. Mini Lynx Deoderant
  4. OneTigris MOLLE Pouch
  5. Rite in the Rain Notebook
  6. Fisher Bulllet Space Pen
  7. Contents of the Oxford Motorcycle First Aid Kit
  8. Blast Bandadge - I was given this after a BikerDown course, and you can almost certainly find one cheaper than this
  9. Trauma Shears - again, given from the BikerDown course. These things can cut through bone and coins
  10. Multi Tool with Bits and Case
  11. 5000mAh portable battery + USB-C connector (Connector bought separately)
  12. Paracord bracelet with whistle, firestarter and compass. Came with the multitool (10)
  13. A length of duck tape folded onto itself into a square
  14. 3x Red Snaplights
  15. Torch/Emergency Beacon/Seatbelt Cutter/Glass Hammer
  16. Hi-vis Jacket
  17. Kriega R20 Motorcycle Backpack
  18. Wallet
  19. AIKELA Wireless Headphones
  20. Keys, USB Stick, Shopping loyalty cards, Motorcycle Ear Buds

Also waiting for delivery of a clip-on flashlight

5-7 and 10-13 live in the MOLLE pouch which goes at the bottom of the backpack.
8, 9, 14, 15, 16 live in the front pocket of the backpack.
    18, 19, 20 go in my pockets.

On the bike I also carry a puncture repair kit, allen keys, and cable ties. I have a RAM mount incase I need to use my phone as a sat-nav.
I'm also an ATGATT rider, so I always have a jacket (leather in summer, textile w/ hi-vis overcoat in winter), trousers (armoured denim in summer, textile in winter), gloves, boots and helmet.
On the helmet I have a Drift Ghost X Action Cam

I just got a waterproof gopro type camera on Amazon

I haven't had a chance to try it out yet, but it comes with the waterproof case and a remote control. It's capable of taking 4k video as well. It doesn't come with a memory card, but it can handle 128 GB cards, even though the description only mentions up to 32gb.

u/unreqistered · 1 pointr/bikecommuting

Resolution and features. Unless you really want to capture HD quality driver interaction, the less expensive models will suffice.

There are a lot of cameras flooding the market, all quite similar, basically just a rebadge of a basic model. $100 and change.

These benefit from the ability to mount/secure directly against the helmet.

u/MapleBlood · 1 pointr/MotoUK

Thank you! Indeed it looks interesting - I just must to check it's low-light capabilities.

Thanks again :)

Edit: that review made me think twice, but at least it's some step in the right direction.

u/Transplanted_Cactus · 1 pointr/photography

I bought an underwater camera for $60 on Amazon for my Hawaii trip in June. Since I'm not expecting professional level photos and video, I think I'll be happy with what I bought. I just want video of me swimming with sharks.

u/FeedAlien · 2 pointsr/totallynotrobots

You can get the GoPro 3 used (see below) at that price and has the quality features you want. I have one personally, and its awesome. I don't regret having a dedicated camera, because sharing battery and space for filming video (especially 60fps) really sucks.

https://www.amazon.com/GoPro-CHDHN-301-HERO3-Silver-Edition/dp/B009SD6ZIG?th=1

Side note: If we want to explore the "used" category, the iPhone 5S qualifies and there's plenty on the web to go around.

u/ChumberSnap · 1 pointr/Throwers

Get a gopro if you're willing to drop the cash, but this will treat you just as well

That new Viofo A129 and that knockoff GoPro thing I've been eyeballing are looking better and better every week.

My A119 is an excellent camera, but I saw some footage on /r/roadcam this past week and the A129 looks so much better.

u/liimo458 · 1 pointr/NoStupidQuestions

Ok so what if I bought a drone built to carry a sports camera like the other commenter had said? For example this drone: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N012YWY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_Qh4KDbSY8PJ0B
With this camera: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07B2W96JH/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_.i4KDb8XNWBAS
With those two together would i have technically have made my own working camera drone for cheap without the issues? I'm also open to looking at other drones and cameras those are just examples.

u/ModusPwnins · 1 pointr/BikeCammers

I haven't submitted anything yet because I haven't had anything interesting happen yet. And like I said, the audio is bad anyway. Doesn't pick up conversations. The only sounds you can hear are chain and tire noise.

Apeman Action Camera (currently $40)

So I uploaded a sample video to YouTube but it processed it as low-def for some reason, although the original vid is 1080p @ 30fps. Weird. Here it is, but it's not representative of the original video quality.

u/CommanderFlapjacks · 2 pointsr/CalamariRaceTeam

There's a ton of gopro alternatives on amazon for like $60 with accessories. This is the one I have

https://www.amazon.com/FITFORT-Waterproof-Rechargeable-Batteries-Accessories/dp/B06XFM62GB

u/vanlodrome · 1 pointr/vancouver

fly 6 seems to have mixed reviews, and its rear facing: https://www.amazon.com/CYCLIQ-Fly6-Bike-Camera-Light/dp/B077NNSRDL fly12 looks great but crazy expensive.

There are sort of two options here, a standard action camera (gopro, sjcam, etc.) or a dedicated cycling/vehicle type camera (not many). With the first you have <1-2hr of record time, not huge, but might be ok for commuting if you don't mind charging every day.

Personally went with the action cam, as my commute is short (<1hr), and budget was low.
I use this for gopro style mount, the stock ones are garbage: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/New-Aluminum-Bike-Handlebar-Motorcycle-Bar-Mount-Adapter-for-GoPro-Hero-1-2-3-3/32615330305.html

If you're ok with 1080P, I recommend the Drift Ghost X. It's got a rotatable lens, easy mounting, and holds a charge for 5 hours--all for $99 right now so you can pick up a couple.

Why do my comments keep disappearing from this thread...

Has anyone tried this Polaroid camera? Trying to decide between that and the Roam.

edit: Oh, I have to replace the Amazon link with a different one and then edit it back in for the post to show up. Cool.

u/elzibet · 2 pointsr/CyclistsWithCameras

I personally have a Hero3 I won five years ago in a video contest, Crosstour Action Camera I use for my rear on my commuter (when I remember to charge it). And for my race bike I have my Fly6(ce), but I will use it on my commuter if I forget to charge my other rear camera.

Here is a list of common ones:

Inexpensive (< $100)

  • Handlebar and Helmet Mount included, very low quality video

  1. Drift Stealth 2 amazon link

  • Low light is not great, otherwise fine camera

  1. Crosstour Action Camera amazon link

  2. Yi Lite amazon link

Thats basically it. Only the copter is a bit bigger nad stronger and a GoPro was mounted.

u/TrekRoadie · 1 pointr/Bikeporn

Yep. The bike came with the duo base and the garmin high mount. My camera is the hero 5 session.

u/jwinskowski · 1 pointr/motorcycles

I've got this little baby mounted to the top of my helmet. Great video/construction quality for the price, came with several mounting solutions included (enough to get it up on my helmet as well as use my new Gear 360 up there for sweet 360 vids.) It comes with two batteries, which each last about 85-90 mins and they sent me two more (plus a charger) for leaving a review. I could also use it while plugged in to the bike, but that would be a hassle so I don't.

EDIT: I tried having it mounted to the turn signal mount on the front of my bike and the vibration was way too much to get a good video. No OIS on this camera but also just a bad spot on the bike.

u/SlidePanda · 1 pointr/motorcycles

Ok. Amazon makes this really hard for us these days as they mix up internal refs and referral links for folks getting a kick back.

For the future, you can remove the /ref=blah blah blah and the url will still work. IE= https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DGFYXTY

Doing that will not trigger filtering

u/ropers · 1 pointr/DIY

Just to be certain, was what you called the "GoPro 3 Black edition" this camera?

u/sh1ttydefaults · 1 pointr/motorcycles

I got this Chinese action camera on Amazon for $60. Throw in a 64gb microsd card for $20 and you've got a full setup for $80.

I flashed the firmware on mine when I first got it and it inverted the colors on the little display. Didn't bother me and it worked just fine but I told the company and they sent me out a full new kit.

u/Variable_Interest · 2 pointsr/chicago

I liked the form factor of the Hero 4/5 Session but for whatever reason they don't make them anymore.

u/Likeapuma24 · 1 pointr/paintball

This one was recently recommended elsewhere on reddit

u/tunersharkbitten · 3 pointsr/Hyundai

if its a social media advertisement, absolutely not. look for something with a higher than 1080 resolution. 2.7k or 4k. shit, even a chinese action camera is better than that

i actually have that bad boy right now and it works great.

EDIT multi account bot folks. account is connected to a botnet trying to sell products. i have banned 6 of the accounts from /r/Toyota in the past hour.

u/fx44 · 3 pointsr/fpvracing

Oh, no, I misunderstood you. I have two cameras on my quad. One is for transmitting video to me in realtime (HS1177), and the other is for capturing HD video to look at/make videos later (GoPro Hero 5 Session).

u/pops2ptO · 8 pointsr/Nexus6P

Time to step it up! GoPro style phone mount will give you the grip to really show off.

u/ieya404 · 1 pointr/Edinburgh

Looks to be a little cheaper in the US; Amazon.com have it for $399 (equates to around £265, albeit they won't deliver to UK), Amazon.co.uk list for £332 while one of the sellers on play.com have it for £300.

For comparison, Edinburgh Bicycle Cooperative sell them, but you're looking at £359.99.

Knockoff GoPro shooting in 720p for space reasons. The exact model is this one right here (non-affiliate link)

u/oyctracy · 1 pointr/Dashcam

Maybe you can refer to this one, it's an real 4k action camera and can also work as a dash cam. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B076BPWXRG

u/starfreak64 · 2 pointsr/hockeygoalies

I use a Polaroid XS100 with a suction cup mount (a separate purchase)

u/OssiansFolly · 4 pointsr/news

Huh...guess it is Polaroid. Goes to show how much I pay attention to the camera itself.

Link

I had gotten it in a Flash Deal a couple years ago and bought the dash mount.

u/grivooga · 1 pointr/MTB

Here's an Amazon.com (instead of .ca) for $140
http://www.amazon.com/Polaroid-XS100-Waterproof-Mounting-Included/dp/B00A81SXHI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1370727372&sr=8-1&keywords=Polaroid+XS100

For that price I'd rather pay up to the GoPro I think just for the availability of accessories if nothing else.

u/gwannn · 3 pointsr/BikeCammers

I've been using the polaroid xs100 it's waterproof right out of the box and includes helmet and bar mounts. Better battery life rating than the cheaper model gopros. some gripes though: only 32gb limit on the SD card, no loop recording and no way to know how much battery is left. I just plug it into my PC every other day to charge and delete files.

u/brochaos · 1 pointr/whitewater

I read a bunch of reviews and ended up with this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XFM62GB/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Here's some footage. I haven't found a free video editor that will let me upload/export 1080p. So these are 720p/60.

There are already action camera for less.

One is the SJ4000, which includes the camera and most of the various mounts included for ~$100.

I only got it after watching the video @ Lady blamed me for running a red light. The video doesn't lie. [0:50]

There is even knock off version for $60ish too.

Also there is the Poloroid. http://www.amazon.com/Polaroid-Extreme-Waterproof-Mounting-Included/dp/B00A81SXHI/ref=zg_bs_7161074011_8

Either way, I would watch the Top Sellers list @ http://www.amazon.com/gp/bestsellers/electronics/7161074011/ref=pd_zg_hrsr_e_1_4_last

Go pro is still #1-#5. If some other camera creep up, then they have real competition.

u/disenchanted_youth · 1 pointr/videos

> their $1,500 camera

Idiot.

Edit:

GoPro - $399.99

Quadcopter - $299.0

Total: $698.99

I know it's hard to do basic research and math but at least try.

u/jmizzle · 4 pointsr/guns

For starters, OP has to play a game I like to call "GoPro Russian Roulette". You see, like half of the new GoPros are pieces of shit that have poor QC. They've turned into the Hi-Point of action cameras.

Look at all the damn 1 star views: Amazon: GoPro Hero3 Black

As a side note, yes maybe I'm a little bitter because I was part of the 50% that got a glitchy one.

u/blackmars0 · 1 pointr/hockeygoalies

Do it! I picked up a Polaroid XS100 and a suction cup mount and it's helped me a TON. You pick up so many little things and bad habits on video that you don't necessarily have time to think about on the ice.

u/inibrius · 115 pointsr/Roadcam

In this case the cop is right. Using a GoPro mount on your helmet is a violation of federal law:

CFR Sec. 571.218 says:

S5.5 Projections: "A helmet shall not have any rigid projections inside its shell. Rigid projections outside any helmet's shell shall be limited to those required for operation of essential accessories, and shall not protrude more than 0.20 inch (5 mm)."

It's not the fact that he was recording, but what he was recording with. By design a mount for a GoPro goes either on front or on top of the helmet and sticks out a couple inches. That violates the law.

Get you a side mounted camera to avoid this. I like the Polaroid XS100.

GoPro!!! I want to put together a film to raise awareness of the animal cruelty that is happening here in Thailand and it's much more low key than a larger point-and-shoot style or DSLR camera so would allow me to be a bit more sneaky, especially in places that don't allow filming.
