Oh, I felt myself getting angrier as I read thru this, perhaps as a professional and boss in an allied field If I had overheard this I would have fired her on the spot, and publicly, too. What she said and more importantly, what she did was absolutely positively totally unacceptable under any and all circumstances. It was at best, mean, and at worst, elder abuse. If anything, I think you handled yourself with tact, class and grace..and furthermore, you could have not only kicked it (and her!) up a notch or two, but then taken it to DDL's supervisor, which I would strongly encourage you to do so. Then, I'd like to offer you a job. I pay very well, too.

I think you should give your grandma a big bouquet of flowers next time you see her, give her an even bigger hug and kiss, tell her how much you love her and how beautiful you know she is, and get her a pair of comp socks..I know exactly what you mean...that are at least less grotesque: https://www.amazon.com/Pairs-Compression-Socks-Women-Men/dp/B01N5LOWIK/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1536246154&sr=8-5&keywords=compression+socks

And take her out for a lovely dinner.

It's hard getting old and losing what you had as it indicates at some point there will be nothing left to lose which is the terrifying part. The people charged with understanding and being sensitive to and supportive of that should do so, there is ever and acceptable level of teasing.

u/pimpmafuwa · 2 pointsr/Watches

Industrial painter here, I used a cheap Gshock for 4 years and it is still working, but i've replaced it with a more expensive version, and ive dipped both and washed both in some pretty hardcore thinners and solvents.

GW2310fb is the watch that served me exceptionally well, I could take some pics of it of how it held up over all those years of use if you really wanted, but aside from scratched glass and paint all over it, its 100% functional.

Currently using the GW9400 for about a year now but i've been taking especially good care of it to not get paint on it but the bumps and smacks have been aplenty, and it still looks like it just came out of the box.

edit: Added current watch

u/cmraarzky · 4 pointsr/running

Completely personal but beyond a good baselayer nothing else I own is running specific for the winter. Up top I'll usually use a compression shirt and then layer a few shirts on top of that culminating in a hoodie (the front pocket is clutch for carrying extra tissues or storing your hat/gloves). Layers are your friend. Bottom wise I'll do compression shorts and/or tights depending on how cold it is and another pair of shorts over top just for another layer. Other than that I wear my normal socks, a buff if needed, a knit hat, and some light gloves. This setup has carried me through the coldest and windiest parts of the winter last year. I made a quick down and dirty jumping off point for you to look at some decent, affordable gear: Tesla tights, Tesla top, Reflective knit hat, Buff, Headlamp, Lightweight gloves. You may want to look at maybe some windproof layers, wool socks, or heavier gloves depending on what the weather actually looks like near you. I wasn't a fan of the yak trax style grips and ended up just using my trail running shoes a lot in the winter, just be careful.

u/wine-inacan · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Honestly I haven't been having the greatest time in my life recently only a handful of people know what's actually going on I'm not one to share my personal life that much with lots of people. I honestly have been trying my best to stay positive with everything and just remind myself that I've had it worse so I know I can get through this. Honestly my vericose veins have been getting worse so I could use these compression socks thanks for a wonderful contest.

u/IceMan_dangerzone · 1 pointr/Watches

I would suggest either this: http://www.amazon.com/Casio-GWX5600C-4-G-Shock-G-LIDE-Digital/dp/B00CTNY0LG/ref=sr_1_11?ie=UTF8&qid=1418390921&sr=8-11&keywords=gshock+g-lide

Or this: http://www.amazon.com/Casio-GLX5600-4-G-Shock-G-Lide-Surfing/dp/B001A67HDG/ref=sr_1_15?ie=UTF8&qid=1418390921&sr=8-15&keywords=gshock+g-lide

The price on both of those is great. The first one is a solar/atomic model and the second one is the standard battery model. If the extra few dollars isn't a concern, I'd go for the solar/atomic model ten times out of ten. The 5600 models tend to be smaller than most of the others: they're not too thick and not too chunky, and the G-lide series have a Tide Function / Moon Phase that's pretty awesome. Good luck!

u/MeatPopsicle_AMA · 6 pointsr/running

I'm very new to running (I'm on Week 3 of C25K) and a little obsessed with running gear right now! I just got a second pair of Asics Gel-Excite 4's- love these shoes!

I also got diagnosed with venous stasis in my calves not too long ago, and compression socks are saving my life! I tried a couple different brands but my favorites are the Sockwells brand: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B005P4N3KA/ref=yo_ii_img?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I wear them to work too (medical assistant in a very busy clinic) and my legs/feet feel SO much better!

Third and finally, I bought a merino neck gaiter and it's been a lifesaver. It's cold and dry where I live, and I've got asthma, so it's nice to be able to pull my neck warmer up over my mouth when I'm running. Cold, dry air can really irritate my lungs.

u/greenbeantime · 2 pointsr/BB30

I know! :( I wish I had better advice, but mine was so related to the heat!

I think it also helped when I was able to walk around during the day - I sit at a desk all day long at work, so I started making sure I got up at least once an hour to get water or use the bathroom or just go for a short walk, and it helped a lot.

These are the compression socks I bought for myself. They're comfortable enough, though I don't know if they really helped my swelling. I stopped being able to wear them pretty quickly because I got so big that I had a hard time bending enough to get them on (they're tight!)

Edit to add: The socks were also good at not overheating my feet! I wore them mostly during July/August and I was worried they'd make my feet super hot (I hate when my feet are hot, makes my whole body uncomfortable!) and they actually breathed well and kept me from overheating while I was wearing them.

u/I_SingOnACake · 1 pointr/TwoXChromosomes

I LOVE these ones, they are so comfy and have a good amount of compression. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00TXNL2JI/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_bVDAxbDVAW7MX

They're a little pricy for a pair of socks, but worth it IMO. Don't be fooled by the cuteness; they are effective. Nurses often wear them, which is why they come in more fashionable patterns now.

u/5bullets9killsFHU · 1 pointr/running

Okay I'm back. Thanks for the suggestions guys. Had better luck with the research this time and decided on getting this:

12-in-1 Headband [Solids] - Versatile Sports & Casual Headwear - Wear as a Bandana, Neck Gaiter, Balaclava, Helmet Liner, Mask & More. Constructed with High Performance Moisture Wicking Microfiber., Midnight Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00Q2L776G/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_yzd.ybYD9AYM0

Sorry I'm on mobile and kinda new to this. Seems pretty cool. Will update on its performance. Seems like it's what I was looking for. A bandana seemed like it would hold too much sweat.

u/daethwing188 · 2 pointsr/motorcycles

Here in NY, I've been riding with just my mesh/leather hybrid jacket and short sleeves underneath; my friends think I'm nuts. The cold hasn't bothered me much besides my hands (which I bought silk glove liners to go under my leather gloves). I have a tube-style balaclava/neck gaiter similar to this one and a uniqulo packable down jacket that I carry in my sling pack and can wear under my jacket if I need it. You can probably find cheaper packable jackets on amazon to do the trick, but I really like and recommend the Uniqulo ones for the quality and warmth.

u/Charlemagneffxiv · 2 pointsr/wma

I highly recommend you wear a good quality jock strap. If you get a good whack in the groin you'll have erectile issues for life, in addition to experiencing the most tremendous pain like you won't believe. I've taken a hard hit there before, it's an experience I never want to go through again.

I see you said before a shot to the penis isn't an issue, but it actually is. The muscles of your penis that allow it to expand can be damaged and it will cause it to become very crooked when erect, and the surgery to address this problem is expensive, painful and not always able to restore straightness.

Whole issue can be avoided with a jock strap.

I wear this model of Shock Doctor which is abit pricey, but worth it because it's the most comfortable jock strap I've ever owned and I very much value my balls. It also has some additional cushion protection for the hips and thighs which I like a lot.

I have a spes skirt too and it's not enough.

u/Tidus77 · 1 pointr/running

So I currently use the Gutr headband and I find it's pretty amazing at keeping sweat from the forehead out of my eyes. There's a huge difference between running with and without it - you realize how much you're sweating when it runs downs the sides! However, it doesn't work well for sweat around the brows since that's lower than the band goes down. That being said, I've become more concerned with UV damage and now only plan to use it on cloudy days. I've just bought the Mission Neck Gaiter and the Mission EnduraCool headband. These apparently have some sort of tech to keep you cool when you activate them and have a UPF rating of 50. Unfortunately I haven't tried them out yet but I'd go with that over the Halo given that it doesn't seem to have a UPF rating.

EDIT: Another reason I love the Gutr is how easily adjustable it is!

u/leesajane · 2 pointsr/femalefashionadvice

I have had skin cancer in the past, so I now try to stay covered up more with UV protective clothing. The arm sleeves have become a favorite because it allows me to wear cute summer tops and still have protection. I think they look kinda cute with a tank top or sundress too, lol. There are quite a few options in uv protective clothing that keeps you cool and covered up.

UV arm sleeves

u/pudge44 · 1 pointr/running

Hah. It’s one of these things. Admittedly not the coolest look, but really effective at keeping sweat out of my eyes. And hey, I’m already 1) bald, 2) wearing knee high neon green compression socks and 3) looking like one looks when finishing one’s first marathon. (i.e., like death), so really what does it matter?

u/m0nday · 3 pointsr/AirForce

Yeah, a couple guys in my flight had kinda-flashy gshocks and they never got flak for it as far as I know. Personally, if I was going to do BMT again, I'd shelve my G-Shock (have one, love it, wear it every day) and go with something like this (which is actually the one I had) for a couple of reasons. First, G-Shocks are designed to attract attention. More importantly, they can be difficult to pull an ABU sleeve or rubber glove over, tasks which you will be required to do very quickly and very often.

u/Captchalxrd · 1 pointr/malefashionadvice

What are the best jogger sweatpants (fitted) for a guy of average height?

I'm 5'11'', but whenever I try on fitted jogger sweatpants they're baggy on me! It's like they're all made for NBA players. I usually shop on Amazon because it's hard to find fitted sweatpants at local stores. I'd take a risk buying from another online store if anyone would recommend one for me. I am looking for something like these:

https://www.amazon.com/adidas-Mens-Soccer-Training-Pants/dp/B01HO55N5A

u/larkinwc · 1 pointr/techwearclothing

I bought this from Amazon, pretty decent quality and nice stretchy band with a clasp as well. I feel like it should be a staple in everyone's wardrobe.

u/AnyelevNokova · 4 pointsr/BabyBumps

Yes, you can. I wear knee-high compression socks my entire 12.5 hour shift. I wear these and really like them - several of my coworkers wear that brand as well and are happy with them.

u/bzhayes · 1 pointr/Ultralight

I agree; I love Indiglo: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002M9SDG/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 plus I think the buttons on Timex watches are much easier to use than the tiny little metal knobs on Casio watches.

u/dahuii22 · 1 pointr/flyfishing

All of the guide pants out there that I've seen are pretty fantastic, albeit expensive.

I have a few pairs of soccer training pants that do the trick that I'm OK w wearing in public wo waders on. And they'll be about 1/3 the price of the fishing branded pants

u/MyNameIsSkittles · 1 pointr/vancouver

This one has free shipping

Edit: anything shipped or sold by Amazon will have free shipping. If you don't have prime I believe you need to purchase $35 worth of goods

u/lubellem · 4 pointsr/TalesFromYourServer

Not a server, but I just bought these. Not TOO tight and a pretty good deal.

edit: to wear after knee surgery.

u/Stewbender · 1 pointr/bjj

I just get the cheap generic ones that aren't really marketed specifically for grappling. Like these

I'm definitely not your target demographic because I don't like anything at all on my gear; graphics, logos, etc. But I'm sharing my preferences in comfort and fit.

u/ShazbotSimulator2012 · 1 pointr/hockeyplayers

I wear one of these because I have long hair and it keeps it out of the way, but it does a good job keeping sweat out of your eyes and fits under a helmet better than most headbands.

u/OppositeFeature · 1 pointr/loseit

I leave them at home in a little ring dish - they don't get lost there and I don't risk injury at the gym by wearing them. Emergency scenario - I put them on a necklace chain if I happen to be wearing one. Once I just tied them into my shoe laces because I didn't have a necklace on and after learning what degloving is, I wouldn't ever do any weight lifting with a ring on.

They also make wristbands with storage such as this one, but then I'd definitely inspect the quality of the seams to make sure it is solid before storing something small such as rings.

u/Kritios_Boy · 1 pointr/Outlier

I have another cheap one to recommend, <$10:

Beechfield Unisex Outdoor Waterproof 6 Panel Baseball Cap on Amazon

Shallow crown, so great for exercise or small heads. Comes in a handful of colors: black, light grey, navy blue, & olive. Don't expect perfection, but it's great for the price.

u/aminal · 1 pointr/motorcycles

One of these things should do the trick:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B004I5JA22/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1382457142&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX110_SY165_QL70

It's the wrist playbook thing for quarterbacks. Couple friends used these when I was still in. Worked like a charm.

u/heinzenfeinzen · 1 pointr/curlyhair

Posting some pics would be helpful. My son is growing his curls out and has found these very useful: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01AK22GJU/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
They have silicone on the inside to keep them from slipping. You might be able to find something similar at WalMart, CVS, etc.

u/ItsDeke · 2 pointsr/Watches

I have no clue if it's a popular model or not, but I was in the market for a gshock as a weekend beater, and I really took a liking to this one:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00791YURC?pc_redir=1408256283&robot_redir=1

Solar, atomic, rugged, but not too flashy. I've had it for 6 months or so now, and it's been solid.

These are exactly the ones I have. They're surprisingly comfortable.

Temple Tape Four Inch Moisture Wicking Workout Sweatband; Absorbs & Evaporates Sweat 8x Faster - Classic (No Pocket) - Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N3T0UGE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_DRT9ybTPGK3G9

I friken love it!

u/tr3at_yo_self · 3 pointsr/running

If you're a lady, sports bras make great key holders when you don't have pockets.

I've seen wrist wallets around, that would hold 2 keys. Or are you looking for a phone armband that will also hold 2 keys?

u/bigmeatsammich · 4 pointsr/FierceFlow

Also practice TKD, but mostly play basketball. Buy a pack of those Nike headbands from like Dick's Sporting Goods or Amazon. They work well for me. Idk how long your hair really is, but headbands and ties are going to get loose. It happens. Get through a set or two and fix your hair if you have to. Its just something that happens. It becomes much more manageable once its ~shoulder length.

u/Zickefoose · 2 pointsr/knifeclub

Not op but I've worn the GW2310-FB-1CR almost every day for 2 years and love it. And no, it's not hard to see in the daytime. The solar atomic time keeping is on point. Mine has stayed on full charge since I've gotten it. Also the rubber band is the most comfortable rubber watch band I've ever worn.

u/strobelight · 1 pointr/cycling

I use a Sweat GUTR headband. Works great for me.

u/madwizard94 · 1 pointr/streetwear

So what is the general consensus on headbands like these:

https://www.amazon.com/Nike-Dri-Fit-Head-Tie/dp/B008C2ATPY

started wearing one since my hair's getting long and i like them.

any reason we don't see them more often?

u/BorecoleMyriad · 1 pointr/EDCexchange

I have one available GW2310FB-1CR with bullbars for 75. I would rate it in a B condition just being on the safe side. Worn a hand full of times.

G7900A-4 can be had for 60-65 new (with manual etc).

G7900A-7 new for 65-70.

GWX5600 is $97 on amazon right now new with free shipping. Again with box/tin/manual....

The used prices you have are ok but come on man.

I bought this on Amazon for that exact reason! I keep it in my gym bag so that I always have it, and they put it in there and wear it on my wrist at the gym. I'm too paranoid to leave it in the locker room lol

u/meesterzeebers · 2 pointsr/BabyBumps

I myself used these running socks for my last 6 weeks, if you'd like to look at more options.

I think it might be one of these https://www.amazon.com/Nike-Dri-Fit-Head-Tie/dp/B008C2ATPY they sell them at Hibbett’s Sports if you have one near you, or prob a Nike outlet or other sport stores. They’re just long pieces of dri-fit material that are cut an angle on the ends, you wrap them around your head then tie it. I have one and wear it when I hoop, would recommend!

u/MrMacMan23 · 1 pointr/frugalmalefashion

u/two7s_clash · 2 pointsr/yoga

I really like this one: http://www.amazon.com/Nike-Dri-Fit-Head-Tie/dp/B008C2ATPY/ref=pd_sim_sg_8

I also like the wider Nike tennis ones. I think they look a little dumb, but they absorb a crazy amount of sweat.

u/SD_Bitch · 1 pointr/ChronicPain

I've had some stellate blocks that have worked wonders for my diabetic neuropathy, and the pain specialist is who got that going for me. Being the scatterbrain that I am, I make sure I take a written list of my symptoms and goals with me to each appointment, and then just hand it to them. Then they can ask more specific questions and help work on a plan for you.

Have you tried compression socks and gloves? Whenever my neuropathy pain gets bad, compression socks and gloves are my saviors. Especially if I need to go grocery shopping or do a lot of standing chores, putting the socks on beforehand really helps curb the cumulative pain. Might be worth a shot if you haven't tried it.

u/maplespread · 2 pointsr/EDC

I would also recommend a solar atomic watch. Currently I have two. One G-Shock GW7900B1 for rugged use and one Citizen AT4007-54E for work/suit.

One slight problem with the GW7900B1 though. It was my first choice overall in the G-Shock series because it combines Shock resistance, Multi-Band 6 and Tough Solar features but after a couple of months only, rivets on the bezel started to fall. Big disapointment. I realised I'm not the only one and found this thread and this thread about the problem and how to order/replace the lost rivets.

My suggestion to you would be the GW2310 or the GW2310FB-1CR if you like reverse display.

It all depends on your budget too.
