We run them on most of our trucks too. They have the mountain snowflake symbol as well so they are rated for ice, but in my experience they dont do anywhere near as good at the coopers but they wear like iron. They do sorta plug up with mud but great if you're mostly driving on pavement.

Make sure if you get some dynapros they are the ATMs and not the regular dynapro, they have different rubber compounds

I use the R16s on my 2015 EX, great miles, great MPG, good grip, quiet and good ride. Like all tires on the Fit, the rear tend to develop a cupping pattern of wear because of the camber and toe angle - and can start humming if it gets bad enough. However, if you rotate the tires every 5,000 miles or so, they do not do that, and they have really long wear. Those R15s should go over 65,000 miles, if not higher if you take care of them.

I replaced the OEM tires on my 2015 at 27K miles and went to the Yokohama, I haven't looked back since, and we are over 160K miles now.

Wildpeaks are probably the best bang for your buck in the A/T tire market currently, I'm not sure of your location but if you get snow, they are also winter rated and are great in snow, I've been running mine for almost 2 years now on my X, in central Alberta Canada, great traction in snow, dirt, gravel and mud. AND only cost me about 850 (I worked at the shop) installed, for 33's as well. I likely won't ever switch up from wildpeaks. 50k on them and they still look brand new some how.

Yeah I live in Houston so I'm pretty sure getting summer/winter tires wouldn't be smart... since we basically don't have winter, right?

Is there any difference between the tire rack sumitomos tire you shared and this listing on Amazon? It seems I'd save $40+ buying them on Amazon with the free shipping, and it'd get here way quicker.

Based on many positive reviews on the GM-Volt forum, I just picked up the Pirelli CintuRato P7 for $110 each on Amazon. TireRack gave the tire a great review (performs better than the Michelin MXV4 in most tests) and other Volt owners have been happy with the performance. I wanted a tire that had similar low rolling resistance to the stock Goodyears but also had good rain performance. The Pirellis seem to fit the bill, plus cost less than the other tires I was considering.

I have been running a set of Falken Wildpeak AT3W 's with about 35K on them and they have been pretty awesome. Great in snow, rain, etc., low road noise, and at 8-9/32 on tread and have rotated them every 5-6K so far.

It looks like you may need to run a longer trailing arm in the back if you're going to fit a bigger tire. I can't quite tell from the picture.

Where will you be offroading? What sort of temperatures will you be driving in and what sort of terrain?

I personally think that the Toyo Open Country A/T II is a fantastic tire on and off road. I run them on my 1966 Land Rover and my mom runs them on her Rav 4. Excellent ride and grip when aired down to 18psi on a trail. I think they come in a 225/70/R16 which might fit your outback, I'm not sure. You might need a 215.

You could also check out Nokian hakkapeliitta R2, 215/65r16. I've heard rave things. I believe my dad has a set on our Honda Fit, and it rallies through deep snow and icy hills no problem.

I could bring the belt up the front fork opposite side of the front brake... Need to figure out the reduction ratio.

Also because winter, need to think up a way to effectively cool the motor and enclose it some. Being ahead of the bike, above the front wheel, with a fender it should be largely protected, but still need to improve that.

Are you sure about that? Would these not work?.

I went with the X-ice 3's, very solid price, top performer especially on ice, longevity on pavement, and they are super quiet. I don't anticipate a lot of deep snow driving which is where the Blizzak WS 80 or Hakka R2 (which is nearly the same tread as the Altimax) would have a slight advantage.

Reviews are good, price is better than the tires that it does better than in reviews. It's not a snow tire but it'll be better in any conditions than the OEM tires.

This seems like a great comprimise, considering the amount of "dry road" driving that we do during winter.

I have 70K on my 2013. My first set of tires only lasted about 35K, the second set are still on the car and look like they could go another 35K. I bought the car used with 16K miles on it, so I don't know how the car was driven for half of the life of the first set of tires. I drive in Sport mode 100% of the time and tend to be a little aggressive with my accelerations. I rotate the tires front-to-back about every 5K miles (I'm due for that now actually...)

I replaced the factory tires with Michelin Primacy MXV4 Radial Tire - 215/55R17 94V and I try to keep them inflated at 40-42 PSI. I lost a couple miles in range when I switched to these tires, but noise levels and handling improved, so it was well worth it to me.

We have a 35 ft Class A and use a tow dolly since our Prius can’t be flat towed. If we know we’ll be in a pull through we leave the trailer hooked up to our motor home at the camp site. If we’re not sure what type of site we take along our trailer dolly to help maneuver the trailer to its spot once we’ve unloaded the car and unhooked the tow dolly, I’ve posted a similar one that you can get from Amazon, though we bought ours at Northern Tool. We keep the trailer dolly in the back of the car while we’re on the road because it doesn’t fold for storage.

When we get to the registration office if there’s room to drop the car and he’s not blocking traffic, my husband will do it then. If he can’t then he’ll ask the folks at the office where’s the best place to drop the car. You can drop the car anywhere it’s safe but keep the trailer attached until you get to the site. Most times, if it’s a back in site he’ll drop the car when we get to the site, unload the trailer off to the side, then back in the motor home.

While we’re there camping he’ll scout out the area for the best spot to load the car since he needs to have the tow dolly straight and not cocked, to load the car. When it’s time to leave we hook up the tow dolly to the motor home, I follow him and drive the car to the spot he’s selected and he loads up the car.

But yeah the Z is definitely a car you don't want to run bald tires on haha. I live in North Florida, so I feel you on the heavy rain. This car is so willing to break traction in the rain and can be prone to oversteering sometimes when that happens. My local Facebook group always has people crashing their cars whenever it rains and they even put PSAs on the page when it rains telling people not to drive hahahaha
