🎓 Reddit experts on tv
The comments and opinions expressed on this page are written exclusively by redditors. To provide you with the most relevant data, we sourced opinions from the most knowledgeable Reddit users based the total number of upvotes and downvotes received across comments on subreddits where tv are discussed. For your reference and for the sake of transparency, here are the specialists whose opinions mattered the most in our ranking.
I'm really late replying but I hope still useful! I looked at the series you mentioned your giftee liking and used my knowledge of anime to go on Amazon and pick out 10 other series or movies they might also like, along with why I think these might be a good option. Your person seems to really like edgy and highly dramatic pieces with a scifi or fantasy flair. That's been my favorite for 15 years! A lot of these are a bit older; I am taking the gamble that with as many newer pieces listed, your person hasn't watched a lot of backlog, and therefore may have missed some really good shit.
Ghost in the Shell is a cyberpunk classic. Older, yes, but for anyone who likes drama and scifi, this is a good choice. It focuses on a classic mind experiment: if you can move your brain freely among cybernetic parts and bodies, what is really "you"?
Steins;Gate is what instantly springs to mind for someone who also likes Psycho Pass. And I mean instantly. Fans of one almost invariably love the other. A tightly-plotted time travel thriller.
Revolutionary Girl Utena is a bit older, often controversial, and an absolute work of art. There's a strong chance your giftee is a girl based on the other series they like, but even if not, Utena is still a solid choice. Just be careful on this; sending it to a conservative person could backfire badly. I rather doubt that is the case with Attack on Titan and Shiki, but just to be safe. It's strange and beautiful...and stylish beyond all doubt.
Black Lagoon is anime's answer to a Hollywood big budget action movie. Comedic, violent, and unforgettable, it deserves a far wider audience than it's had. Almost every anime fan I know who's seen it has loved it.
Akira is without a doubt one of the most famous anime movies to ever be created. Animated without CG in the 1980s, the quality of its hand-drawn special effects has yet to be equalled by almost any other production to this day. For someone used to today's slick computer assisted animation, it's still mindblowing. Akira is often credited with being just as important as Pokemon and Dragon Ball Z and Sailor Moon in starting the anime boom of the 1990s, and this is a very nice edition.
Also in the classic scifi category we have Serial Experiments Lain, a show whose points on technology and the internet and the singularity still ring true today. Moody and thought-provoking with masterful use of color and a fantastic soundtrack.
Literally no adult-targeted anime is as famous and well-beloved as Cowboy Bebop. This space western with the jazz soundtrack is a perennial favorite on Cartoon Network Adult Swim, is often suspected as a major influence behind Firefly, and is one of the most popular anime in the US of all time... And it's hitting bluray this month.
Summer Wars should probably come with a bluray device as a tech test. It's that beautiful. A tale of virtual reality and the family and friends behind the characters, Summer Wars is an unforgettable movie which, despite being intensely Japanese, deserves a slot on any videophile's shelf.
My total wildcard pick is Mushishi. Beautiful and dream-like, like a series of 25 minute oases from ordinary life. If this is in fact a slice of life, these timeless Japanese almost fairy tales are like no life you've seen. Some call it slow and overhyped. I call it perfection. At any rate, this isn't at all what I'd get as an only gift; it's more a wildcard filler for a $20 other series. If you want my actual top pick.....
Baccano! is my final and top pick. It's really hard to go wrong with this. This rollicking action anime about immortal Prohibition-era Mafiosi in the United States is one of the best and most underrated anime of all time. Humor, violent action, mystery, drama, good characters, good animation, good music... It has them all. It's chronically overshadowed by its more popular sister series Durarara, and that makes me sad. But Durarara isn't easily available outside streaming, and this glorious madcap piece of anime is. Plus it has at least one theme in common with everything your person listed liking. You know what to do.
Fear cuts deeper than swords
OOH I LOVE SCAVENGER HUNTS. Placeholder. I'm working on this. Goodbye sunday night productivity.
EDIT Aug 11, 11:44pm PST
1.) something that is gray.
2.) Something reminiscent of rain. It rains so much in my city and on those days I like to have my tea and soup and all the yummy hot homecooked food at school in the library while I study. I already have a great thermos for my tea and hot cocoa but not for my soups/food.
3.) Something food related that is unusual. I don't know if this is necessarily food related but WOOOO TEA. MANA-TEA. Seriously this is awesome.
4.) Something on your list that is for someone other than yourself. A wii for my mom because she has been wanting a wii or ipad for a long time. My bro and i think the wii would be better because at least we could all play it together when we go home to visit.
5.) I will recommend this book to anyone and everyone. It's the book I just finished reading and I feel like it has helped me a lot. I am so much more motivated and driven and it is helping me make some tough choices in my life. I am a senior in college but this book can help anyone who is at any place in their life I think. I currently have this on my wishlist which is like a supplement to the book. Seriously though, read it, share it with everyone you know. Let's make the world a happier place.
6.) An item that is less than a dollar. Awww yeee. They always seem to have one of these on the coffee table at my brother's house. Wherever he lives. Even though it's never his. But yeah, they're cool but I don't actually want one.
7.) Something related to cats. THIS IS SO AWESOME. I have another mug with the disappearing thing on my wishlist too. But yeah, I love cats, I just don't have much cat stuff on my wishlist. I do need a real cat though... hint hint nudge nudge
EDIT Aug 12, 12:15am PST
8.) Something that is not useful, but so beautiful you must have it. Okay it's not Amazon but it is beautiful and I have had my eye on it for a year. Despite that fact that I do not plan on having children for at least 8 years. Dem hormones are a'ragin.
9.) I know it's not REALLY a movie but... A movie everyone should watch at least once in their life. Why? Because it is so beautiful and awe inspiring. It really brings me a sense of peace every time I watch it.
10.) Something that would be useful when the zombies attack. Explain. I can put on my holy strainer hat and pray to The Flying Spaghetti Monster to save me from the zombies.
11.) Something that would have a profound impact on your life and help you to achieve your current goals. I know I used this for another one but really, I think doing these exercises would help me in all areas of life.
12.) One of those pesky Add-On items. These beauties, even though I doubt I can grow them without a yard...
13.) The most expensive thing on your list. Your dream item. Why? My little acer hand me down freezes a lot, can't do multiple things at once, doesn't have a cd drive, has a screen too tiny to edit photos or edit my website. Basically everything is frustrating. And I'm a college student. So I use the computer for basically everything... and everything the little laptop CAN do takes forever.
EDIT Aug 12, 1:51am PST
14.) Something bigger than a bread box. If you don't think that is big enough, then here, but it's newly added.
15.) Something smaller than a golf ball. Well, I'm pretty sure this is smaller than a golf ball. If it wasn't, I'd be disappointed.
16.) Something that smells wonderful. Mmm imagine the ginger lemon grass!
17.) A (SFW) toy. And here's another one because I couldn't decide which one looks more fun...
18.) Something that would be helpful for going back to school.
19.) Something related to your current obsession, whatever that may be. Currently obsessed with learning all kinds of new jewelry techniques! Also obsessed with tea because it's the one thing my boyfriend and I developed an interest in together. It didn't start out as either of our interests.
20.) Something that is just so amazing and awe-inspiring that I simply must see it. Explain why it is so grand. THIS IS SO PRETTY AND USEFUL AT THE SAME TIME. Seriously so cute, has lovely details, 8gb, and you can wear it as a pendant. Whaaaat!
EDIT: this lovely is made in oregon!
> I have no idea if this post contains anything insulting/against the rules/breaking some secret taboo. I just want to become closer to the family of the man I love.
This last sentence just made me smile so big today. We're a pretty thick skinned bunch, and hearing that you want to come into this with an open heart and mind, prompted by a man and family whom you love, is an occasion for joy. Welcome! We're happy to have you here. Please stick around and ask as many questions as you wish!
I want to make this offer at the beginning of this post, so it doesn't get buried. As you embark upon this journey, please feel free to keep my username handy and DM with any specific questions that trip you up or pique your curiosity. I mean that, I'm happy to be a resource in addition to all the wonderful folks who help this subreddit tick.
I'm a cradle Catholic, 28 years old, and I, too, feel like there's an eternity's worth of stuff to discover about the faith. It's always overwhelming.
I'm going to first echo /u/Trubea's sentiments, Catholicism For Dummies is an excellent resource book and worth picking up.
Given that your SO has been sharing lots of biblical stories with you it would also make sense to buy a Bible. I'd recommend the following for a very readable Bible with awesome footnotes, and the Catechism of the Catholic Church as a teaching companion to reference against. It may take time to dig really deeply into those, but eventually you'll want them.
Two YouTube channels (finally I'm recommending something free, right?) where you'll find great short videos on what the Church teaches, pop culture, and everything in between are found here:
Also, I've noticed you seem to be drawn to the "beauty" of the faith. The aforementioned Bishop Barron has some great media that I think you'd really enjoy.
Before I recommend too many more options that break the bank, I'll leave you with that. :) There are lots of free resources to learn about the Catholic Church online, as well. The teachings, the stories, the lives of the saints, the miracles, you name it! Just let us know what is piquing your interest the most, and we'll do our best to direct you to something awesome on it.
In the present, will say a prayer for your journey. Peace to you!
Draft
|Round|Number|Player|Position|School
|--|--|--|--|--|
|1|29|Robert Nkemdiche|DL|Mississippi
|3|92|Brandon Williams|CB|Texas A&M
|4|128|Evan Boehm|C|Missouri
|5|167|Marqui Christian|S|Midwestern State
|5|170|Cole Toner|OT|Harvard
|6|205|Harlan Miller|CB|Southeastern Louisiana
Robert Nkemdiche DL - Grade: A
As a Broncos fan I watched a lot of tape on Nkemdiche and he looks phenomenal, I would argue a reincarnation of former Cardinal Darnell Dockett. First and foremost his character concerns are unnerving but if there wasn't a better place for him to land than with Bruce Arians and the mentorship from Peterson and Campbell. At least this season Nkemdiche should see at least rotational time as a pass rusher, in multiple spots along the defensive line, until he refines his skill set to an NFL level. He also needs to work on his motor since at times he tends to disappear however with the depth in Arizona the hope is the motivation is right in front of him. Without the character concerns he would moved up at least 10 spots in the draft and could turn out to be a real steal for Bruce Arians and James Bettcher.
Brandon Williams CB - Grade: C
Brandon Williams is a tough prospect to evaluate. He does fill a need the Cardinals desperately need to fill at corner but he is raw. So raw he has only played one year in college at the position playing running back beforehand. His physical talent is there though with 4.37 speed, the 7th fastest this year, he may develop nicely however I don't see him as seeing many defensive snaps until his 3rd year in the league. He should be an immediate contributor on special teams as a gunner on the punt team. He seems to have the right attitude and could be a high reward pick for Steve Keim.
Evan Boehm C - Grade: B+
Center was a big position of need to fill after the loss of Sendlein. Boehm is not as mobile as you'd like to see in a zone blocking scheme however he should compete for the starting job and is studious enough to start wrapping his mind around Arias' intricate offense. His strength will be an asset pushing around defenders and his toughness speaks for itself having only missed one game in the last 8 years.
Marqui Christian S - Grade: B-
Played a lot of strong safety in college especially down in the box and won the Cliff Harris award, the nation’s best small-school defensive player. He makes plays in the run game and can read the quarterback well but doesn't have the closing quickness to disrupt receivers in man coverage. Bettcher and co will attempt to utilize him in both safety roles but with his limited range I think he may make the transition into Deone Bucannon's back up as a hybrid linebacker/safety, especially if he continues to keep laying down the wood. Christian however seems to be the one most likely to not earn a spot on the final 53. Fills an area of need and provides depth may see some special teams time this season.
Cole Toner OT - Grade: B
Not needing to play immediately will benefit Toner greatly. Putting on some weight and facing high level pass rushers are the two major areas of concern for him. Should be able to come out and run block with nice footwork. The mental equipment is all there and should be backup as a swing tackle.
Harlan Miller CB - Grade: B
Miller is another small school athlete the Cardinals took a chance on. He is more pro ready than Williams and will probably outrank him on the depth chart going into the season. Although he has experience as a top corner he won't be asked to perform that highly. He is underweight but has good height for a corner. He excels at press coverage but only ran a 4.65 so don't be surprised to see him get burnt by the speedier receivers in the league.
Overall the Cardinals draft class will be difficult to judge based off his year but in the future could be a force to contend with depending on how players develop. Bruce Arians seems to get the most of his players so I have full faith this should be a solid draft class.

TRADE
| New England Patriots Send| Arizona Cardinals Send
|--|--
|DE/OLB Chandler Jones|OG Jonathon Cooper
||2016 2nd round pick(61st overall)
On March 15th the Cardinals completed a trade with the New England Patriots. The Cardinals shipped out, the 7th overall pick from 2013 NFL draft, Guard Jonathon Cooper and their 2016 2nd round selection for, the 21st overall selection from the 2012 NFL draft, pass rusher Chandler Jones. The 2nd round selection would end up becoming Ohio State safety Vonn Bell after the Patriots traded it to the New Orleans Saints. After breaking his leg in the preseason of his rookie year Cooper has not lived up to his high expectations. Chandler Jones has racked up 36 sacks in his 4 year career, and is coming a career best 12.5 this past season. He will fill a much needed role on the defense helping the pass rush and setting the edge to improve an already stout rush defense. Both teams benefit from this trade adding in areas of conern, and the patriot avoid what is assumed to be a major payday from Chandler Jones which will loom on the Cardinals next offseason.
All or Nothing
The Arizona Cardinals had the privilege to be the first team to have their season recorded and delivered by Amazon. The first episode can be seen right here all other episodes will require a prime membership to watch. It gives an in depth look through the season and troubles these players and the team go through. I would highly recommend checking it out as a football fan. It this takes off there is potential we will see more digital distribution for sports.

Regarding the Dragon Ball movies, I thought movies 1-3 were okay but they're kind of a retelling of Dragon Ball in an alternative way. They introduce all of the cast from Dragon Ball (some in really different ways) across different kinds of stories. They could be interesting but they don't really feel like they're exploring new territory, I suppose? (So, new stories and character meetings but executed in a way that still feels like the series.)
The fourth Dragon Ball movie, however, was kind of exciting to watch. It also retells Dragon Ball, this time kind of being more about Red Ribbon Army stuff (instead of Emporer Pilaf, if I recall), but the key difference is Goku is presented much differently. Regular Dragon Ball Goku is strong but needs training as the series progresses, even if he is abnormally strong and clever at fighting. Movie 4 Goku is presented as simply being absurdly strong. I can't think of how to describe the different feeling other than that way.
For the DBZ movies, I have a preference for the first three but that could be mostly nostalgia. I know my favorite is the second movie, World's Strongest, but the first was good. I think most people during the Toonami days actually enjoyed the third one the most, though.
My only problem with the third is they kind of led into the rest of the movies... to me they felt repetitive. I believe Team Four Star parodied this in their recent Lord Slug parody with the "villain themes". Truth is, I guess movie 2 started it, but I think movie 2 is valuable because the battles are still fathomable. I mean, Roshi was able to take part. He's not my favorite character but it means that like the first movie (Dead Zone) the actions of the characters are directly more important to their difficulty than the "power level" arms race that DBZ entered.
Now, I'm trying to remember my exact thoughts since I watched movies 7+ more recently (and only vaguely remember 4 feeling like "same-ole" and 5-6 feeling kind of short)... the Broly movies kind of disappointed me (the first I probably expected too much from, the second kind of reinforced that Broly wasn't all that dangerous an entity, the third was kind of wtf)... I don't recall caring for the Android 13 movie but Bojack Unbound I remember finding amusing... mostly because of the tournament thing. I guess I didn't find any reason to care about the villains.
Fusion Reborn (movie 12?) I recall greatly enjoying. I can't remember all of the details but there was a lot about it that was amusing and interesting. Finally, movie 13 I recall enjoying how it was slowing down to actually tell a story.
For the Trunks and Bardock Specials, I thought those were nice to watch as a way to add to the series. Some nice side-information stories.
So, I guess that's a long way of saying that there are aspects to each movie/special that are "worth it" to different degrees and it's hard to predict for sure which one would surpass your personal threshold?
Now, as for what to collect, I haven't looked around too hard for all options. When I watched movies 7+, I watched the blu-ray versions and they didn't strike me as particularly cleaned-up. They could be like the Level 1.1 release in that they were captured from the original film and, instead of being a highly-processed-multiple-times release, they're a more accurate to the films release? Although that might not make them much better than the DVD versions.
I know there was a four-pack with all four Dragon Ball movies in it. I don't think there was anything new about the dubbing on those so I didn't replace my current releases with it. Might just be repackaging of the same discs in all cases so that could just mean choosing which movies you want to buy.
For the DBZ movies, the Steelbooks were... maybe I was buying those as they came out? I'm not sure if the content differs from older DBZ movie releases but I guess the real question would actually be if you want to start collecting the newer Movie box releases? The first was released last week with movies 1-5 in it. Two more packs should nab you all 13 movies.
Anyways, this is all my personal opinion so hopefully you'll be able to discern useful information from it?

3.) Something food related that is unusual. – It’s not every day you get to have jagermeister infused gummy bears....... Freaking nom.
4.) Something on your list that is for someone other than yourself. Tell me who it's for and why. (Yes, pets count!) – A dog bed for my puppy!! He really, really needs a new one.
5.) A book I should read! I am an avid reader, so take your best shot and tell me why I need to read it! – YOU NEED TO READ THE HOUSE OF LEAVES IT’S SO CRAZY AND I LOVE IT AND … AT SOME POINTS… YOU READ IT UPSIDE DOWN AND CRAZY AND INSIDE OUT AND OMFG WHAT ARE YOU STILL DOING READING THIS GO READ THIS NOW

Get Your Questions Answered
So you have been to Mass but you have some serious questions about the faith that need to be answered before you can consider joining, so now what? Now it is time for you to learn about the Church! The Church has published a book called the Catechism of the Catholic Church (abbreviated as CCC). You can buy a copy just about anywhere or you can read it for free online. The CCC has all the basic teachings of the Church and an index in the back.
As good as the CCC is, it can be dense to read. Another great resource is called the Compendium of the Catechism of the Catholic Church. This is also available for purchase or it can be read online for free online. It contains most of the information in the CCC, but it is organized in a question and answer format. I highly recommend it.
In addition to the CCC, you will find a ton of good information on catholic.com (warning: don’t go into the forums). Also, for converts I find it helpful to read other peoples conversion stories. There is a series of books called Surprised by Truth which contain the testimonial of converts. Also, the book Rome Sweet Rome is the true story of how a Scott and Kimberly Hahn came into the Church despite them starting off as militantly anti-Catholic Protestants.
In addition to those books, here are some other books I recommend.
If you prefer videos, the Catholicism Series by Bishop Robert Barron is excellent and a video series called Symbolon. These video series are a bit pricey, so before buying ask you parish if they have them available to lend out. Also, many parishes have subscriptions to Formed which allows you to watch these videos and many more for free.
If you prefer audio, the website Lighthouse Catholic Media has many talks you can download and listen to.
If you listen to radio in the car, there may be a Catholic radio station for you to listen to. Catholic radio is a good way to learn the faith. You can check to see if there is Catholic radio in your area at the EWTN website.
In addition to everything listed above, you can always as your parish priest questions. Many parishes also have adult education programs which cover many topics. See your parish bulletin or contact the parish office to see what they offer.
As always, you can ask questions here on /r/Catholicism.
Someone recently asked if Dragon Ball would ever make it to Bluray. To quote /u/VegettoEX:
>Asked often, but no real updates. For an actual HD release, someone would need to pony up and scan film masters. Right now, that would have to be Toei; FUNimation's current masters are digibeta tapes at best.
I mean, they could do an upscaled release to Blu-ray, but that'd be a lot more trouble than it's worth with their current materials, and if they crop anything else... (insert fist-shaking here)
I would honestly expect to see something from Toei on Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball GT in HD before I would expect to see it from FUNimation.

That being said, our FAQ in the sidebar has a list of your options when it comes to purchasing the series.
>##Q: What is the best way to purchase the anime?
A: There are many different ways to purchase the anime. While all releases of Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball GT are in their native 4:3 fullscreen aspect ratio, most English releases of Dragon Ball Z were cropped to 16:9 widescreen.
>* For Dragon Ball, your best option is the Blue Brick DVD sets. [4:3 Native]
>Other releases include:
>* The Dragon Ball Z Orange Brick DVD set [16:9 Cropped], which are criticized for their aggressive filtering, over-contrasted colors, automated center crop, and excessive detail loss during scenes with shaky picture.
The closest to the "originals" would be the Dragon Box set, but that's going to run you a ton of money on eBay. Here is a list of choices for you.
Other releases include:
As for whether Kai is good or not, I prefer it to the original. The pacing is great, and the English dub is much better in terms of acting and script accuracy, though there's some censorship in the first few episodes, and the redrawn scenes look off.
There's only one way that I know of to buy pre-Z Dragon Ball uncut and in its entirety. You'll want to pick yourself up the Blue Bricks. The quality isn't terrible compared to the Orange Bricks. Don't forget about the movies.
For Z, you'll definitely want to avoid the Orange Bricks. The only good thing about this release is that it finally made Dragon Ball Z easy to buy without collecting endless DVDs. But the picture is botched up beyond being saved, and it's cropped to widescreen. Ideally you'd want to purchase the Dragon Boxes, but they're out-of-print and cost a pretty penny. Maybe check eBay if you're interested. You're probably going to want to go with the latest Blu-Ray releases. They're still cropped like the Orange Bricks, but they're a superior overall product even if they still aren't up to par with what we should be getting. Pick up the movies and Battle of Gods too.
GT is pretty simple. Buy the Green Brick. Like the pre-Z Blue Brick, the "remastering" didn't destroy the integrity of the product. It also comes with the one GT TV special. Yay!
And if you're interested in what order you should watch all this, check out our guide.
time to end boredom
One time I went to a really small town in Missouri called Eminence and camped there. One of the days we went to a canoe rental place and rented a few canoes and floated down the Jacks Fork river. There, we went to a place where the river meets a spring with the coldest water I have ever felt. That took some convincing to get me into, but that's not where it stops. Somewhere along the river is an indentation in a plateau where we climbed up into it. Now, I am afraid of heights, but everyone was heading up and I did too. Easily one fo the coolest and most beautiful scenes I have ever witnessed. Definitely worth the climb. A few years later, we actually went back and I climbed it barefoot. MUCH EASIER. I wish I would've done it that way to begin with. lol
For my item, I'd say Summer Wars on Blu-ray. I've never seen it,but have heard a lot of great things about it. I just have yet to get around to saving up for it yet. I'm really eager to see it though! Also, I'm a pretty big DVD/BD collector and always love adding to the collection!
Happy birthday!!
My recommendations from books I read in the last year or so (yes, these are all VERY STRONG recommends curated from ~100 books in the last year) -

Science fiction-
Derek Kunsken's The Quantum Magician (I would describe it as a cross between Oceans Eleven with some not-too-Hard Science Fiction. Apparently will be a series, but is perfectly fine as a standalone novel).
Cixin Lu's very popular Three Body Problem series (Mixes cleverly politics, sociology, psychology and science fiction)
James A Corey's The Expanse Series (which has been made into the best sci fi tv series ever!)
Hannu Rajaniemi's Quantum Thief series (Hard science fiction. WARNING - A lot of the early stuff is intentionally mystifying with endless terminology that’s only slowly explained since the main character himself has lost his memories. Put piecing it all together is part of the charm.)

Fantasy-
James Islington's Shadow of What was Lost series (a deep series which makes you think - deep magic, politics, religion all intertwined)
Will Wight's Cradle series (has my vote for one of the best fantasy series ever written)
Brandon Sanderson Legion series (Brandon Sanderson. Nuff said. Creative as always)

Manga -
Yukito Kishiro's Alita, Battle Angel series (the manga on what the movie was based)

Non-Fiction-
Jonathan Haidt's The Righteous Mind - Why Good People are Divided by Politics and Religion (and how we are not as rational as we believe we are, and how passion works in tandem with rationality in decision making and is actually required for good decisionmaking)
Rothery's Geology - A Complete Introduction (as per title)
Joseph Krauskopf's A Rabbi's Impressions of the Oberammergau Passion Play, available to read online for free, including a fabulous supplementary of Talmud Parallels to the NT (a Rabbi in 1901 explains why he is not a Christian)

Audiobooks -
Bob Brier's The History of Ancient Egypt (as per title - 25 hrs of the best audiobook lectures. Incredible)

Academic biblical studies-
Richard Elliot Friedman's Who Wrote The Bible and The Exodus (best academic biblical introductory books into the Documentary Hypothesis and Qenite/Midian hypothesis)
Israel Finkelstein's The Bible Unearthed (how archaelogy relates to the bible)
E.P. Sander's Judaism: Practice and Belief, 63BCE-66CE (most detailed book of what Judaism is and their beliefs, and one can see from this balanced [Christian] scholar how Christianity has colored our perspectives of what Jews and Pharisees were really like)
Avigdor Shinan's From gods to God (how Israel transitioned from polytheism to monotheism)
Mark S Smith's The Early History of God (early history of Israel, Canaanites, and YHWH)
James D Tabor's Paul and Jesus: How the Apostle Transformed Christianity (as per title)
Tom Dykstra's Mark Canonizer of Paul (engrossing - will make you view the gospel of Mark with new eyes)
Jacob L Wright's King David and His Reign Revisited (enhanced ibook - most readable book ever on King David)
Jacob Dunn's thesis on the Midianite/Kenite hypothesis (free pdf download - warning - highly technical but also extremely well referenced)

My wife too came from a charismatic non-denominational church background. The process for her took a bit of time, and I think it was mostly accomplished through introduction to and then love of the liturgy. In college, we attended a non-denom church that did communion every week and did passing of the peace every week. After college, we were at a Presbyterian church for 7 years that had weekly communion, passing of the peace, confession of sin, and an OT reading. These were steps in a liturgical direction, which made the transition easier.
Have you guys been to mass yet? That definitely would be a good thing to do. I would read up about what goes on at the mass so you'll know what to expect, and then don't hesitate to participate (everything that's said and done is orthodox). Most of the responses should be in the front cover of the missal in the back of the pews. The order of the mass is also in the Missal, so you can follow along.
In terms of books, my wife loved Evangelical is Not Enough. She also liked Born Fundamentalist, Born Again Catholic. Both of those books really helped her overcome the Catholic prejudices she had from growing up (Catholics worship Mary, etc).
I've also heard good things, but have not read, Girl at the End of the World: My Escape from Fundamentalism in Search of Faith with a Future. The author, Elizabeth Esther, comes from a very fundamentalist upbringing. She also has a blog you might be interested in checking out.
Can't recommend any videos, but I've heard Fr Robert Barron's Catholicism series is good - but expensive. Maybe your local Catholic church has a DVD you could check out? Here a preview.
Don't hesitate to PM me if you have any questions! I did a ton of research and would be happy to point you toward resources I found helpful.
Manga Entertainment's release of the 'digitally remastered' sets, known as the Orange Bricks, both contain the Bruce Faulconer score and Shunsuke Kikuchi score. Audio is English+Kikuchi score, Japanese+Kikuchi score, and English+Faulconer score. Bare in mind this isn't the best release of Dragon Ball Z you can buy on the market. Quite honestly, I would invest the money into the blu-ray sets.

Awesome contest! And thanks for featuring us, this should bring in a few more people. I would like to enter, and if chosen I would like to recive Community the complete first season $12.49 on amazon.com. Why, you may ask? Because this is on of the most original and hilarious comedies since Scrubs or Malcom in the Middle, and there have been talks about NBC canceling it. So not only will you be buying me a kick ass Christmas/birthday present, you'll also be helping preserve one of the best shows on tv. Thanks again for this awesome contest, and the free promo!
Thanks for the contest!
My Little Pony: Daring Do and the Marked Thief of Marapore Would LOVE to be able to read the books from the show :3
Inside Out I've seen this movie recently and LOVE it! :3
3DS Stylus pack I can never have too many of these-I keep losing the original one I have with my 3DS...
Fluttershy Funko Pop I found out about Funko Pops through this sub and I'd love to have this little cutie to start a collection :3
Rocko's Modern Life complete series It was one of my favorite series when I was a kid and I'd love to see all of the episodes again :3
Awesome. Shohreh Aghdashloo would make an awesome live-action portrayal of her. She currently plays the completely bad ass Chrisjen Avasarala in the great space opera, The Expanse.
You can catch it on SyFy, Amazon Prime. Definitely a plug. Great show. If you enjoy reading, you can also pick up any or all of the books by James S. A. Corey! Funny note.. it says "8 book series" yet the link says "7 book series". Sorry if any of the links are against the rules!
During Dragon Ball Z's English broadcast run, FUNimation replaced Shunsuke Kikuchi's original Japanese score with Shuki Levi's edgier, electronic/guitar-driven soundtrack, inspired by his work on Power Rangers. When FUNimation switched to their in-house dub for episodes 068+, they hired Bruce Faulconer to replace Shuki Levi for the remainder of the series. In 2004, FUNimation went back to redub the Ocean Group's episodes, hiring Nathan Johnson to replace Levi. This redub, featuring Johnson (001-067) and Faulconer (068-291) is featured on all uncut DVD and Blu-ray sets, while the edited-for-TV Ocean dub can be found on the "Rock The Dragon" set.
When Dragon Ball Kai first aired in Japan, it was given an all new soundtrack by Kenji Yamamoto. Due to a plagiarism scandal, the last three episodes of the Cell arc had the soundtrack replaced with Shunsuke Kikuchi's original Dragon Ball Z score, with all prior episodes quickly following suit. The Majin Buu arc (episode 99 and onward) currently features yet another musical score by Norihito Sumitomo.
FUNimation's first four Part sets for Z Kai contain Yamamoto's score up to episode 52, before switching to Kikuchi's Z score for 53-98. The current Season sets of Kai all contain the Kikuchi replacement score.
>I would like to watch the show in as much originality as possible so which should I watch?
The most "original" version is the original Japanese with English subtitles. The next best option is Dragon Ball Kai, which received a much more faithful-to-the-Japanese English dub than DBZ did, and as a result, it's often recommended for new viewers who do not wish to watch the series subtitled.
The final story arc of Dragon Ball Kai has yet to be released outside of Japan. Because of this, if you choose to watch Kai (legally, and in English), you will need to switch to episode 200 of Dragon Ball Z after finishing episode 98 of Kai.
I would recommend William Lane Craig's Reasonable Faith book which touches on the philosophical and historical proofs for the core principles of theism and Christianity. Also start watching Bishop Barron on his YouTube channel Word on Fire. Edward Feser's book The Last Superstition is great for understanding the rich philosophical thinking of Aristotle and Aquinas in regards to morality and the existence of God. I highly recommend Trent Horn's book Answering Atheism. Also, if you're willing to dish out some cash Bishop Barron has a beautiful DVD series which gives an incredible overview of the Church. It's truly a wonderful series, especially for someone new to Catholicism:
https://www.amazon.com/Catholicism-DVD-Bishop-Robert-Barron/dp/B005J6U77Q
But... Walking Dead Risk has a unique feature to it. Not only do you fight other survivors, you also fight hordes of walkers. I thought that was a pretty cool little extra thing they threw in.
Once again, if you like Walking Dead, have you read the comics? They're better than the show (and pretty different, story-wise!), and a great read. I can't find the Compendiums on there, but I did see the Omnibuses, which include over 500 pages per volume (I think there are 4 of them?)
If you decide to get a game even though you have enough at the moment, grab South Park: The Stick of Truth. It's shaping up to be amazing and a really good companion to the show. Plus, it doesn't release until November, giving you enough time to wrap up your current stuff.
If you'd like to watch something, I'm disappointed in myself for not already suggesting Community. Amazing show, but you need to start at the beginning to really appreciate the later episodes, as there are tons of references to older episodes in this show. It's been criticized as being "weird" and "inaccessible", but it's by far one of my favorite shows on TV.
Patriot (Amazon Prime)
First 4 episodes have been great, has a very Fargo feel to it.
7.6/10 so far, def keeps you wanting to see what comes next
Edit: just finished and man did it finish strong! That 50 second scene in ep 8 in front of the warehouse was one of the funniest yet tense scenes I have ever seen in film, absolutely brilliant. The writing and dialogue and general feeling of the show was so different than anything you'll see. The definition of a dark comedy/thriller
Solid 8.5/10 for me and I highly recommend at least watching the first 3 or so episodes to see what you think. You gotta be the type of person who enjoys a good dialogue, this is not an action thriller spy show. But rather a well crafted web of fucked up situations one after the other.
The soundtrack kicked ass too
If you are a fan of Fargo or any thing Coen brothers you'll love this.
The "All or Nothing" series on Amazon was really good. Also, the official NFL channel on Youtube has a lot of full games, including Super Bowls. As a Saints fan, I recommend watching Super Bowl XLIV. And definitely check out the "America's Game" episodes on all the Super Bowl winners.
The best sci-fi book series to come out in a very long time! The first book is Leviathan Wakes; five more have been written so far, and three more are scheduled to come out over the next three years (and the authors have been pretty good about keeping to that schedule, unlike a certain fantasy author we all know and love).
If reading books isn't your jam or you don't have time, there are also audiobooks some fans swear by. There's also a TV show which just wrapped up its second season, which you can get on Amazon Prime in the US and Netflix everywhere else.
If you like sci-fi that does its best to stick to actual science, space battles, political intrigue, and likeable characters who grow more complex with every book, I highly reccommend it!
If you watch the Work of Director DVD (very recommendable) or even The Science of Sleep, you'll see how "dream logic" had always been Gondry's favorite topic, his main talent. He somehow just knows how to film scenes in a way that makes them look like dreams and Eternal Sunshine was his masterpiece. It was the perfect film for him to direct and after all, he got the "original story" credit which is no coincidence. Kaufman wrote in the whimsical dialog (which is great) but this is mostly Gondry playing out his biggest strengths.
Jonze also did this one. There's a DVD collection of Jonze's music videos. They all blow me away. I like his movies but loved his vision for stuff like this.
Edit:

OOP but well worth the used price
Oops. I misunderstood what specific editions you were talking about. I read your original post as the Masterpiece Collection and the CLASSIC Collection. The Essentials Collection contains identical remasters of a few of the films in the Masterpiece mastered by the same team. That being said. You NEED the Masterpiece Collection. And the Classic Collection fills in a few important gaps:

Oh yeah no doubt. I was about to buy the Batman Beyond complete series but I ended up finding this. Only had enough money for one so that was an easy decision lol. They also had this and this DBZ movie collection for like $15 each. Pretty bummed I couldn't get them.
It is a shame it's being pulled. I heard good things about it and saw it on there and gave it a shot. Absolutely loved it. Then, gave Atlantis a shot and it finished up as I was watching it too. Had to pirate the last season to finish the show as it wasn't out yet. Soon as I could, i got the BluRay's and they look fantastic and have a ton of special features.
Also, the SG-1 DVD BoxSet looks absolutely amazing. Take a look at it if you haven't. Netflix even got me hooked on BSG which i'm wanting to one day get the BluRay boxset with the Cylon.

Nice collection and welcome to the subreddit!
Alfred Hitchcock blu-ray collection releases next month, and as far as Disney movies go the Disney Movie Club is pretty awesome
Oh that's been out for a while!! It's great, you've gotta own this one! http://www.amazon.com/The-State-Complete-Series/dp/B00274SITW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1410381044&sr=8-1&keywords=the+state+dvd
A little pricey now that it's been out for a while but if you can find a good used copy in good condition or have enough to buy the new version it's worth it.
Happy Birthday <3 and welcome home :)
Get yourself a Chromebook, dude!
For moi, I would like Rocko's Modern Life!
I'll second TPB. But if you love the show, please consider supporting it by purchasing the full collection when you have the means. Honestly at $102 it's a steal for all 11 seasons PLUS the movie and bonus features.
I have great murican books and MASH! 1776

$0-$5:[Matryoshka Doll Key covers... they are so adorable and help you remember which key goes to which door. I know in my apartment building sometimes I have trouble with that. $5-$10: The 5 Love Languages book. A little religious at times, but really it's an amazing read. You learn a lot about yourself and how to convey your feelings to those around you in ways that they understand. Priceless, really.

I have it. It comes in a box that looks like a chest. Its quite flimsy though, you have to preserve it carefully. But the DVDs are nice, they have directors commentary and some TV ads for the show. Plus a few interviews and behind the scenes.
Thank you for this contest! :)
You look very nice today! The wind has made your hair in a messy tangle, yet it suits you perfectly!
Well that's my point, he's not really adding value by making sweeping generalizations after a Week 1 loss. To those points, (1) Is age really an issue? Fitz looked great out there and he's definitely leading the way in age. Carson looked bad, but I'd argue that's because he's bad.
(2) The Cards have played very well, probably their best offense, without DJ in the mix. In fact, BA is all about, "next man up." (3) There is nothing to indicate that is even a concern. That is straight speculation he bases off nothing more than his opinion. OP should watch All or Nothing becuase that arguement is BS.
I'm not implying that OP needs to break down individual plays, but he needs something more to backup his statements. Even if OP is looking at them, "from a macro level," OP needs more than broad generalizations that can be applied to any team. For example "the Cards are screwed moving forward because they ran the ball this many times against the Lions so they clearly rely on the run," or, "age is an issue for the Cardinals because X DB is Y old and clearly couldn't keep up with Z in man coverage."
With all that said, I do agree with OP's premise. I have serious concerns about both BA and Keim at this point. For both to be so blindly confident in both Palmer and Stanton is straight absurd. I can't and won't defend that move.
This is pretty awesome! =]
How about Rockos Modern Life the complete series for you and I!

The Directors Label series is pretty great. Spike Jonze, Chris Cunningham, Mark Romanek, and Michel Gondry in particular are well worth the money.
Since there's no mention of him here yet... GO WATCH MORE MICHEL GONDRY!
A good place to start is here: Director's Series, Vol. 3 - The Work of Director Michel Gondry. They are all good, but Michel's is especially awesome.
Hey man, if you have an Amazon account, you can sell it right now for like 20 bucks, and after fees figure like 16 bucks, giving you a dime bag profit.
Edit: If you don't have one, PM me and I can sell it for you.
Something I want
Something I need
Something to wear and
Something to read
This something to watch
will make me laugh,
And this will be music to my ears…
But what I want most, my dear friends, is to ease sadness and tears.
Im pretty sure you can find these all on amazon for pretty cheap.
Edit: for example
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00AIANIPQ/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1480979351&sr=8-1&pi=SY200_QL40&keywords=rockos+modern+life+complete+series&dpPl=1&dpID=51cHGYfUS6L&ref=plSrch
Rocko's modern life is 20 bucks right now
Have you heard the story behind how the Everlong video was made?Edit: essentially, there was a lot of resistance to Michel Gondry's idea for the video. One member didn't want to partake because of the portrayal of violence against women. Another for another reason, and so on. Part of the way they were able to get away with it was by dressing Taylor up as the woman.
I heard about this on the Director's Works DVD for Michel Gondry [BTW, I love that Michel Gondry reviewed his "own" DVD: "I had very little to do with the planning and completion of this DVD so I believe I can give it a review. However I don't think I can give it one without bias so everyone can take the my five stars with a pinch of salt. I can say that I do love the DVD very much. I feel very happy that it has been recieved so well and feel that it does offer a comprehensive view into my work. If there were more stars to give I would."], so IIRC it was told by the video director. I haven't had a chance to watch yet, but I'm assuming this video covers the band's perspective.
2nd Edit: better story of how Michel convinced Foo Fighters to do the Everlong video
I think you'll
likeLOVE this because you have Happy Endings on your wishlist. Happy Endings and Community share the same kind of humor, and are both produced by the Russo Brothers. If you have some money burning a hole in your pocket, Alfred Hitchcock: The Masterpiece Collection is a great buy, and a reasonable price for what you get.
Alfred Hitchcock Masterpiece Collection
Fantastic box set. It's the US version hansorg has. The UK and Australian version comes in a fold-out digipack style case.
DO WANT!
Also this link is probably more friendly for users. Plus if people preorder this set through that link money is generated for gift cards that go back to the subreddit each month.
I think individual seasons go for around $10 on Amazon, though I've got the Martinis & Medicine collection which is an amazing buy if you turn out to really like the show.
Cardiacs - R.E.S. -- mental band, mental video
Aphex Twin / Chris Cunningham - Rubber Johnny -- ok, so not strictly a music vid
Chemical Brothers - Let Forever Be -- great vid by Michel Gondry
pretty much everything on this Chris Cunningham DVD or this Michel Gondry DVD
UNKLE / radiohead - Rabbit in Your Headlights -- just remembered this, not seen it for a few years, forgotten how freaky it is
Any reasoning to this selection, because honestly I think we could recommend something better than these, if there isn't a specific reason to this selection.
Summer Wars
Garden of Words
Steins;Gate
Obsucre-er? (Though maybe not as great)
Patema Inverted
Children Who Chase Lost Voices
Ergo Proxy
In general, RightStuf has some nice deals, or you could try Amazon.
More specifically, here's Bebop for $30. Can't find Blu-Rays of Gankutsuou, but here's a DVD set. Summer Wars is here. Try this for Black Lagoon, but there's also a collector's edition here. Evangelion 2.22 here. Haruhi here, but as a pre-order and at an absurd price.
I can only find Madoka, Perfect Blue, Baccano, Code Geass, and Fate/Zero at prices you probably don't want to pay.
reboot was amazing show really hope they get the reboot of it finished soon. as for how it ended i would say rewatch it
Check out part 5 of the "Moon Machines" documentation:
I think this is a part of it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aJPfSneaPVY
But you should really buy the whole thing or try to find a torrent. Warning: you may have to cry every now and then. It's just about the best documentation ever. Awesome footage and lots of old people telling stuff. Amazingly beautiful.
Sorry for my diction. My mother only taught me german :/
Even if you get the standard version without all the bells and whistles, the artwork is a lot better on the region free version than the Region 1 version, even if it does come out a week later. I want this a lot.
you should buy his Directors's Series DVD. http://www.amazon.com/Directors-Series-Vol-Director-Spike/dp/B0000AZT2X
It comes with a book of his sketches, ideas, scripts, interviews, and has all his videos with commentary.
He is an owner of Palm Pictures, the distributor of these great DVDS, so in buying the disc you support him quite a bit.
This.
Anime was a big part of my childhood, but for the past twelve or so years, I just couldn't much care about it. I decided to give this a view a couple years ago and was taken aback by just how pretty and fun it was. Plus, I watched it during a time where I was unhappy with my life, so I sold off just about everything I had and moved to California on a whim. It was the best choice I had made in my short life. Sometimes, you just need something crazy to happen to shake you out of that rut.
The Stargate SG-1 Complete 10-season DVD set was on sale at Amazon for $55 about a month ago. It's back up to $85. That would have been sweet. :)
http://www.amazon.com/Stargate-SG-1-Complete-Series-Collection/dp/B000TJBNHQ/ref=sr_1_2?s=movies-tv&ie=UTF8&qid=1341290548&sr=1-2&keywords=Stargate+SG-1%3A+The+Complete+Series
$65 at Walmart:
http://www.walmart.com/ip/Stargate-SG-1-The-Complete-Stargate-SG-1-Series-Collection-54-Disc-Widescreen/7934693
Star Gate is much more formulaic. It follows a every episode a new planet formula with larger story lines revolving around antagonistic enemy civilizations.
That said, the SG1 cast has fantastic chemistry and they're not afraid to put a healthy dose of humor and references into the show (SG had guest actors from nearly every major sci fi show and movie franchise).
The later seasons in particular have increasingly more humor and takes the show noticeably less serious. Which frankly was really enjoyable.
Apparently you can get the entire run on a 54 disc set for just 70 dollars. can't really beat that.
https://www.amazon.com/All-Nothing-Arizona-Cardinals-Unrated/dp/B01GF3WPU8
Just click the Play button symbol next an episode and you're good. No prime needed. Completely free.
Also, I would check out Fr.Robert Barons Catechism Series. A bit expensive, but absolutely brilliant.
Always.
So the "structure" of masses is always the same. (I highly recommend watching that Father Barron series as even as a 31 year old life-long Catholic I learned much about the mass I didn't know prior) You go:
Introductory Rights
Liturgy Of The Word
Liturgy Of The Eucharist
Communion Rite
Concluding Rite
There are certain prayers (The Apostles'/Nicene Creed, Our Father, Kyrie etc) that are said at every mass. However depending on the feast day or if it's a special season such as Lent or Advent, there may be some changes.
Check out this page:

Patriot on Amazon Prime
It's quite good with depth & nuance. Your list suggests that you like immersion storytelling.
If you've never seen season 3 (and to a lesser extent, 4), you must! It gets really awesome. The series is available at Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/ReBoot-Definitive-Mainframe-Kathleen-Barr/dp/B004Q7BF5M
I have 1-6 like that. But I ended up getting the boxed set when Amazon put it on sale. I highly recommend it! (It's now under 70 dollars)
Atlantis is also a bit cheaper.
However, they can get cheaper.
You gotta wait at least until the Cards play a few games first. There is no guarantee that DJ is even the starter. He showed flashes all year but still didn't get the job until both CJ and AE went down. We can agree to disagree. If you are an amazon prime member you should watch:
https://www.amazon.com/All-Nothing-Arizona-Cardinals-Unrated/dp/B01GF3WPU8
DJ makes appearences throughout. It is pretty much hard knocks
There's a series of DVDs that catalog the music videos of directors and Michael gondry is one of them
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0000DBJ9J?pc_redir=1405030406&robot_redir=1
That video also has this ultra surreal short where Michael gondry takes a poop, doesn't look at it when he flushes, then comes to life (played by David cross, who else) and asks why he didn't look and don't you like me anymore.
http://youtu.be/xU6zcqmw0Uk
Anyway, there others are great too, like Spike Jonez and Chris Cunningham (he did Come to Daddy and Windowlicker)
Don't know if you are a fan of digital, but it looks like iTunes has the complete series for $60.
Amazon has the complete series on Blu-ray for $50.
I don't know why DVD is the most expensive option. That always seems silly to me.
I don't know what I'm going to do. I've only watched the series once before and just started season 4 on my second run through. I probably won't watch the whole series again for a couple of years. It may be cheaper by then.
I finally picked up the Alfred Hitchcock: The Masterpiece Collection thanks to it currently being on sale on Amazon. Now I need to sale my Alfred Hitchcock: The Essentials Collection. I have it up on eBay right now for $30. If any one is interested just shoot me a message.
The Island of Lost Souls steelbook and Shogun Assassin through one of Eureka's flash sales a few weeks ago. I made an error with the title. The Sleeping Beauty Blu-ray is from Zavvi's Buy One Get One Free Disney sale. I also picked up Fantasia, but they shipped them separately.
One of the top sketches from the greatest sketch comedy show ever.
Here's a purchase link that benefits the Prize Vault.
Rockos Modern Life and Sith Sticker
I would love both these items because my fiance' has never seen Rockos, and I need more sticker for my car!
Schmad on my add on.
Patriot on Amazon Prime. Awesome show.

Patriot on Amazon is a great underrated comedy/satire
As an avid fan of Spike Jonze, I am sure you are intimately familiar with this: http://www.amazon.com/Directors-Vol-Director-Spike-Jonze/dp/B0000AZT2X/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1421695008&sr=8-1&keywords=spike+jonze
You can watch that to corroborate everything /u/squat_the_woods was saying.
Moon Machines. It is EXCELLENT!
http://www.amazon.com/Moon-Machines-Robert-Seamans/dp/B0026IQTR2
SyFy gets a lot of good shows but unlike FX they dumpster them pretty quick. Exhibit A: Amazon's new show, The Expanse!

Dark Sky Map People who have never been to a dark sky area do not think that it is worth the effort to see. People who have gone to a dark sky site are blown away by the amount of stars they can see with their naked eyes. Go on a trip to a dark sky area (dark gray on the map) on a moonless (new moon) night, here is a moon phase calendar.

I don't believe it's up streaming anywhere (legally), but they did release a DVD set a few years ago! Unfortunately, due to music licensing, some of the songs they used in skits had to be replaced, but it's still a great collection.

I perform the equivalent of "meatball surgery" (as described in the TV series MASH) in the area of software development. Started out as a report writer and database administrator, got assigned increasingly bigger responsibilities and challenges and managed to do well at them, eventually got promoted into a programming position.
"The Masterpiece Collection" is due to come out on Blu-Ray September 25. It's got Vertigo, Rear Window, and The Birds included in it.
There is a great DVD of his work in a series called... "Directors Series".
http://www.amazon.com/Directors-Series-Vol-Director-Michel/dp/B0000DBJ9J/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1382768864&sr=8-5&keywords=directors+series
This is a wonderful video, and simply one of many by Spike Jonze.
While these collection don't begin to cover all of them, I recommend the Director's Series DVD sets that feature Spike Jonze and others. The two packages that are most relevant to this convo are http://www.amazon.com/Directors-Vol-Director-Spike-Jonze/dp/B0000AZT2X and http://www.amazon.com/Directors-Label-Boxed-Set-Cunningham/dp/B00065AXTM/. The first is just Spike Jonze, while the second is a boxed set that also includes videos by Chris Cunningham and Michel Gondry.
And at the risk of veering off-topic, check out the DVDs in the same series that include Mark Romanek's videos.
That Planet Earth series is legit if you have yet to see that one. Discovery did one on North America that was awesome too.
http://www.amazon.com/Planet-Earth-The-Complete-Series/dp/B000MR9D5E
http://www.amazon.com/North-America-Blu-ray-Various/dp/B00CYP9JTC
Yup, it's a TV show on NBC. Amazon is selling the first two seasons pretty cheap right now: Season 1
That is a cool video. This was by Michel Gondry. Here is another really cool video by him.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hmpxsk3dHaA
You can buy a DVD of a bunch of his videos:
http://www.amazon.com/Directors-Vol-Director-Michel-Gondry/dp/B0000DBJ9J
Amazon ahoy! I really enjoyed re-watching it.
This is on my wishlist on Amazon. Will be buying it soon. :)
I caved and bought the complete series - They're region 1, but as long as you've got a multiregion player that's no issue, and I've loved re-watching every minute.
I couldn't help but think though: Wouldn't it suck to own THAT computer? You'd never win/complete anything.
The video is from Moon Machines. Definitely worth watching if you haven't seen it.
They are on Amazon and often go on sale.
The Martinis and Medicine Complete Collection looks good because it has some extra reunion specials and such. I bought mine season by season as they were released in the late 90's. So I don't have this set.
https://smile.amazon.com/Martinis-Medicine-Complete-Collection/dp/B000HT3P5Q/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1527112430&sr=8-3

Just a FYI, both SG1 and SGA are available on dvd, they even have new slim packs now.
The entire SG1 series can be had for $92 on Amazon currently:
http://www.amazon.com/Stargate-SG-1-Richard-Dean-Anderson/dp/B000TJBNHQ/ref=sr_1_2?s=movies-tv&ie=UTF8&qid=1344267135&sr=1-2
The entire SGA series can be had for $54:
http://www.amazon.com/Stargate-Atlantis-Collection-Torri-Higginson/dp/B002EL4RLQ/ref=sr_1_3?s=movies-tv&ie=UTF8&qid=1344267135&sr=1-3
Honestly Wolf Children is pretty good also Steins;Gate.
Wolf Children $18 USD - link
Steins;Gate $35 USD - link
Now I personally haven't seen this yet but I hear Summer Wars ($16 USD) is a good family oriented anime movie - link
Okay, if the Blu-rays are better quality, I guess I'll go for those.
Are these good choices for the movies?

https://www.amazon.com/Dragon-Ball-Movie-Collection-Movies/dp/B005W2BVMM/
(The bottom three are DVD box sets, but I noticed that the DVDs and Blu-rays are about the same price, but the DVDs have more movies on them, compared to the Blu-rays that only have two each.)
http://www.amazon.com/The-State-Complete-Series/dp/B00274SITW Bought that last night =D
Thanks for the reply. I forgot to put into the main post what two movie sets I was comparing. It was these two:
I bought the Blurays via Amazon here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009GYS73S/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
as the blurays are all regions. Amazon does sell the dvd's but they are region 1 only. Shipping may be cheaper if you have Prime. I have previously bought the DVD's at JB's but they aren't available on their website so you need to find them instore. Some stores have some of the seasons, others have none. I wish Amazon Prime Video would have the show just like the US, but at least they still have Psych.
Looks like Amazon owns it: https://www.amazon.com/Dulcinea/dp/B018BZ3SCM
I got this bad boy.

Do you watch much tv between hashing out anti-theistic prejudice? If you do, I highly, highly recommend checking out Patriot. It is the story of a group of US intelligence operatives who're trying to get $10 million to Iran to influence the election of a pro-US candidate to prevent the nuclear annihilation of Israel. A member of the group (the protagonist actually) is dealing with PTSD and depression and his growing suspicion that he doesn't want to be a spy anymore (maybe you can understand this - mocking religion like you do has to leave a bad taste in your mouth). Patriot is one part Wes Andersen (without the pedophilia), one part Cohen brothers (without the inscrutability), and one part Jason Bourne (without the crappy editing pretending to be art).
I was on the edge of my seat there for a while because I loved it, but I wasn't sure if it would be renewed for a second season, and then it was! And I'm happy that you've provided me with an opportunity to share something I love with you. So - the next time you think to yourself, "self - I'm going to go throw some mud and insults at strangers because I have all this hate inside me that I don't understand" - take a moment, and check out Patriot. It is so good - you won't regret diverting your anger towards art instead of people (like us) who're literally totally uninvolved in your life.
Reboot was my childhood defining show. I've been a reboot fan forever I've met the creators and got them to sign an artbook. I even road the Imax Reboot Ride (which was awesome) and I just ordered the boxset off Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/ReBoot-Definitive-Mainframe-Kathleen-Barr/dp/B004Q7BF5M
Seasons 1&2
Seasons 3&4
ReBoot: The Definitive Mainframe Edition
I really wish I knew about the complete series edition before buying the seasons 1&2 edition. Oh well...
They aren't "cutting content". This format is standard across the industry. Go back and check the runtime of Season 1 episodes. They are all right around 40-43 minutes depending on episode, with episode 1 the only one being 44 minutes.
https://www.amazon.com/Dulcinea/dp/B018BZ3SCM
Same is true for Season 2 - every episode is between 40 and 44 minutes long.
Nothing has changed.
yet another awesome "byproduct" of the Apollo effort, a mind boggling feat of engineering.

you're missing out. It's probably on youtube too.
