I rescued a german shepherd mix when he was about 2 months old and he just turned 2 years! He's awesome!

Join /r/dogs for great community, support, and advice.

Here are some of my dog's favorites if you're lost on what to Wishlist on Amazon:

  • Hands down the best ball for fetch, if he likes fetch
  • And the launcher I like this one b/c you can just throw it in a backpack and it'll zip all the way closed (I like to keep a backpack w/ my dog's park toys, some treats, poop bags, wet ones/purell, and his shot records) The best thing about the chuck-it is that you don't have to pick up a slobbery ball.
  • Three very good chew bones
  • Advantage Multi if you're not often taking him onto tick-heavy hikes. If you need tick control, get Frontline and Interceptor for heartworm.
  • The best dog frisbee and I've tried a half dozen. Doesn't fly the best, but it's the most durable, safe, and flies great with a little practice.
  • This Car seat cover is great
  • Flexi leash is really handy when used appropriately.
  • Poo bags can never have enough of. and you go through them pretty quick.
  • Dog backpack great for burning off energy on walks/hikes, and makes them feel like they're doing an important job! I have this one in black. works great.
  • Collapsible water bowl handy for hikes/camping/outings
  • european style leather lead (leash) I'm preferential to the feel of leather for leashes/collars. And the european is absolutely the best - adjustable length and super easy to tether them to a pole/fence if you're eating outdoors or running into a store or something (of course use common sense when doing this!)
  • Harness I'm not a fan of harnesses - they're annoying to put on/take off and just encourage a dog to pull more. But if you want him to pull, towing you on a skateboard or something (my dog loves this) then it's great
Furminator GSD mixes don't need regular brushing, but this one works great for shedding season
Dremel for nail trimming GSD = black nails, a bit trickier to trim. I use this with lots of treats to put a nice round edge and take off a bit of length of my dog's nails. works good but get him accustomed to it slowly and with lots of treats. Pretty soon he won't mind.
*Zukes are great treats for training
  • Bowls that don't tip over. Easy to wash. can't break. My pick.
  • Big crate I use for vacations when I bring my dog but need to leave him in a hotel room or something. It's big and bulky but I like to give him room to move around comfortably.
  • A good shampoo I like hydrosurge unscented but it's not on Amazon =\
  • deodorizer I give my dog a little spritz between baths if he starts to get funky
  • A shower head like this makes bathing super painless. I just bring my dog in the shower w/ me along with some treats and it's quick and easy.
  • a scrubber like this gets my dog cleaner than I can with my hands. I found one at petco I like

Wow I kind of didn't realize I have so much shit for my dog. But he's family so...anyway. Also costco has great beds for $20ish (comparably $80+ from a petstore) They also carry Frontline, lots of treats (buscuits, duck breast jerkey - the best!) good food (Iams ProActive goes on sale once in a while, and they also carry Natures Domain salmon/sweet potato food that's really good).
u/IANALbutIAMAcat · 2 pointsr/HaircareScience

Haha I had this exact issue after growing up in Memphis and moving to Tuscaloosa for school! Man I love Alabama, just not the water. I used this filter with a lot of success. I did a bunch of research on shower head filters and while this was a while back and I can't tell you all the words and such that I was reading, I learned that there are a few different types of water filters that are used for showers that just don't work cause the filter doesn't have the same effect with warm water as with cool. This filter is supposed to be the ideal filter type for showers and had the best ratings at the time for doing a good job and not costing a ton of money. Made a huge difference in my hair and skin.

Memphis really did spoil us! Haha

Edit: awww just saw your user name. Fuck the barn! Roll tide ;)

WORK SUCKS (ohgodiwishihadajob)

I don't know if you're into to make up at all, but I found out about this super awesome Etsy shop the other day on /r/makeupaddiction - anothersoul. Basically you can rip out all your powders/eyeshadows, throw out the packaging and put them all in one container like this. It seems like such a cool idea if you have a ton of stuff, which I'm starting to have...oops! There are a bunch of examples here :D

That's what I would get. But if you're not into makeup may I suggest a $90 inflatable Dalek or this showerhead that changes colour?

Sorry about work, hope you're enjoying your last day of freedom!

u/HighestViolet · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Looking Good! Wow that's quite a stash of makeup goodness! I love trying new products but the stuff is so expensive!
[LED showerhead looks sooooo cool!] (http://www.amazon.com/Temperature-controlled-Color-Changing-showerhead/dp/B002PFJK9K/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=1OUQ8B0KGTG86&coliid=I27P2CTSRKBQVP)

Thanks for the great contest!

I ended up getting a shower head that came with a Bluetooth speaker in it. https://www.amazon.com/K-9245-CP-Showerhead-Wireless-Speaker-Polished/dp/B00A46X48A

I like it so far. Granted you do have to charge it but for me the charge lasts a week or even more. The phone is able to connect from about 15 feet away while its on the charger in my bedroom.

Pros and Cons:

Pro: Super simple install, looks pretty good (no random speaker hanging out), battery last a long time, is surprisingly loud.

Con: The shower head itself doesn't have any kind of spray adjustments, you do have to charge the speaker (as opposed to being powered or having unpowered speakers), and of course the price is a little steep.

Alright, so you have a few options.

  1. Replace your shower head with this LED one. Requires no batteries as it uses the water pressure to activate. Have fun taking awesome showers in the dark with neon water.

  2. Get a magic drawer box. Its a fun gift for a friend. Watch as they struggle to figure out the puzzle. Of course, once they solve it, you should have 1500 live lady bugs inside

  3. With 50 dollars you would also have enough to buy 750 glow in the dark stars. Enough to decorate your house or room to look like this

Plenty more options/ideas on this website http://www.justtenorless.com/

Show this gift some love!

I've wanted a rainbow LED Color Changing Shower Head for awhile. My kids would love it and my husband and I could play strip club. Ha ha!

https://www.amazon.com/Waterpik-SM-653CG-Original-Shower-Massage/dp/B00178KW8E

My (long distance) boyfriend got me that for my birthday last year and it has been excellent ever since!

Also, regardless of which model you choose, I would recommend buying a longer hose. Replacing the original hose of the Waterpik model with a standard interchangeable 8 foot hose lets me sit in the bathtub while using the showerhead. I have trouble getting off while standing so it's important for me that the hose reaches the bathtub floor, but it's just more comfortable and useful for doing actual washing things. :p

u/F4BadBubbles · 2 pointsr/sex

Been using the tub faucet since I was 9. Of course this led to underwater jets and hand held showerheads. Of the three, the tub is what I use the most and is #2 in terms of orgasm preference. Underwater jets I use the least but is #1 on orgasm preference. The showerhead is #3 on orgasm preference (but still preferred to a vibrator).

I'd say most German/northern European women use their showerhead this way and it's a way many girls learn how to masturbate.

This is the best showerhead I've used:

Hansgrohe 28514001 Raindance S 120 AIR 3-Jet Hand Shower, Chrome https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0016H9YTE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_eXiCDb2ZZ23NY

u/VoloErgoSum · 1 pointr/sandiego

I love this one. Just like the reviews say, it feels like big fat raindrops. Its the only shower I've had where I don't simultaneously feel cold. It installs really easily as well, you just screw it on.

This is the updated version, and I don't recommend it.

Every individual is different. If your having trouble with your hands, here are a few toys:

  • Vibrator with a G-Spotter attachment
  • Curved dildo
  • Small Whip
  • Pulsating Shower Head

Experimenting is part of the fun of life and your reactions can change so allow for the possibility of there being more than one answer.

You may be interested to know that the clitoris wraps around the vulva and can be stimulated externally along the sides and by rubbing near it for a while. Some believe that the G-Spot is actually stimulating the underside of the clitoris.

Definitely look into the local energy audit if it is offered. We learned a lot!

For saving water, I love the Evolve ladybug adapter for the showerhead. It shuts off the water when it's warm and you restart it when you're ready.

u/blueflowers · 1 pointr/AskReddit

I purchased this one on Amazon earlier this year and it's held up pretty well. Definitely good quality for the price!

u/somewhat_pragmatic · 3 pointsr/personalfinance

While you're at it add one of these

It goes in-line with your showerhead. The way it works is simple. You know how you turn the shower on and wait for it to get hot? Well, unless you're standing right there with your hand in the water you don't know when its ready.

This device will allow water to pass through the showerhead until it heats up, then drops the stream to a trickle. This means you're not wasting gallons of expensive heated water down the drain while you brush your teeth or whatever else you do while waiting for the shower to head up.

Pull the cord and the full power of now water comes out. It automatically resets by itself ready for the same tomorrow.

u/ohples · 1 pointr/HomeImprovement

If you don't have to worry about saving water may I recommend this shower head:

http://amzn.com/B006FYABAE

These are new old stock made before the Feds required water saving devices.

They are not pretty, or fancy but I promise you they will give you the best shower you ever had

u/k33bz · 4 pointsr/pics

I love the Kohler Forte personally. Home Depot sells them for around $50 but you can get them on Amazon for $35-40ish. It seems expensive but it works great.

Washing with soft water makes ALL the difference.

I use this dry shampoo because it doesn't have all the junk in it: https://dailydryshampoo.com/products/4-oz-dry-shampoo-deluxe-applicator

It seems pricey but it will last you for a long time and it's the best dry shampoo I have found to date. And I've tried a lot of them!

> pulsating shower extension

Here's one on Amazon: Waterpik SM 653 CG Original 6-Mode Massage Handheld Shower

I'm not endorsing that model, but it's inexpensive and has ~240 favorable reviews so it might be a good choice for experimenting.

u/TramStopDan · 2 pointsr/DIY

For the showerhead: get something like [this] (http://www.amazon.com/Centers-Chrome-Plated-Diverter-Clawfoot/dp/B002ZV62DQ). Take it to your local hardware/plumbing place and get a long straight piece that will screw into the top bit, bonus points if they can bend it for you, or buy a curved bit. While there pick out a nice showerhead.

Screw the things together and use something to hold the tall bit next to the showerhead to the curtain holder you just built.

u/Stratocast7 · 1 pointr/Showerthoughts

Ha no I don't have one of the Kohler fancy systems. I came across them years ago when I worked at a place that made stone counter tops. I had to do a lot of research to get sink bowl templates to cut on our cnc machine so I'd frequent many websites such as Kohler's. I'm still dreaming. Cost wise I'm sure all the components run over 10k as the high end panel can cost $1500. I bought the one I have now which is just the head which screws on for about $35 I beleive (found it: DreamSpa® All Chrome Water Temperature Controlled Color Changing 5-Setting LED Handheld Shower-Head by Top Brand Manufacturer! Color of LED lights changes automatically according to water temperature https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00JV43J40/ref=cm_sw_r_other_awd_9ayNwbFMNTCB7 ). I've had it for a year now and still works.

Edit: clarity

You can ask your landlord to make the switch. Should be fine as long as you keep the original hardware intact. Heck, they might even provide you a plumber at no charge to do the work.

A vitamin C declorinator filter or something.

u/NeatZebra · 8 pointsr/Edmonton

Number one power user in your house would be the electric hot water tank. Can’t say I ever heard of those being used in Alberta. So it is probably your hot water use.

Some easier things:

Replace your shower heads, put in faucet aerators. https://www.efficiencyalberta.ca/residential-no-charge/products/

For showers you can also put in these things so you don’t waste hot water waiting for the shower to be warm: https://www.amazon.com/Showerheads-SS-1002CP-SB-Ladybug-Water-Saving-Shower-Head/dp/B0017YXIKC

You can set your hot water tank to only heat to a lower temperature perhaps?

And switch your laundry habits to using cold water only.

Encourage family to shower and not have baths.

Run your dishwasher full.

Also: have you been using a block heater at all? Those are energy hogs. If you need it, you could set it to only run for 3 or 4 hours before you need to drive early in the morning with a timer, and to only come on when it is extra cold with a thermostat.

Good luck!

u/emmysweet · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Well shoot, a completely glowing bathroom might be pretty cool. That paired with this and these could make for a pretty wild bathroom!

u/Jamisbike · 2 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

You can buy a pelican water filter with vitamin c water filter attached. It's somewhat portable but it takes like 1 minute to attach.

UBS Vita Fresh Shower Filter, 16 Ounce https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00KEAMG0S/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_haOvyb94MN80W

Pelican Water PSF-1W 3 Stage Premium Shower Filter with 5' Wand Combo, White https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00AIOY810/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_LaOvybVM9NERB

They are two separate water filters, one is designated to filter the water from shìt and chlorine, the second, vitamin c is designed to filter the water from the remained chloramines, which are very hard to filter with charcoal filters. And they can be attached to each other.

Water Softener Shower Head - Hard... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01L94O060?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share here is the amazon link! seriously look at the comments and stuff it’s pretty amazing

u/strawberrytoadstool · 5 pointsr/HaircareScience

Yeah I actually dealt with something very similar. I too have long, healthy, thick hair that became very dry and gross after moving somewhere with hard water. I recommend buying a water filter for hard water, I bought one from amazon for $25 .
You can also use an Apple cider vinegar rinse to help clarify your hair. I recommend using shampoos and conditioners that do not have silicones or sulfates, as silicones prevent moisture from entering your hair cuticles and sulfates are drying. I have been using indie shampoo and conditioner bars for years that don’t strip your hair of their natural oils. And try to wash your hair only twice a week. My hair feels pretty much normal now mostly because of the filter and the acv, but avoiding certain hair products is also important.

u/dirtyfries · 2 pointsr/DIY

Previous shower area was around 30 years old. Fake marble walls, small wall niche, leaks in the corners and ugly plumbing.

Over the course of 3 weeks (had to go housesit elsewhere - we only have one bathroom), we gutted the old furnishings down to the studs, built a new niche, added backerboard, waterproofing membrane, new tiles, new fixtures, and had the tub re-furbished (by a pro).

If anyone's curious, here's some products we used.

Tile:

Backerboard:

We learned as we went with this (also made many mistakes that thankfully aren't too bad on completion). Upon gutting the shower - found a bit of mold growing on the old green board backing material. Was actually better than expected. We also didn't want to swap out the old 2 knob faucet for something newer (required more plumbing work than we wanted) so we ordered a 3 knob version and just used two of the knobs/stems. Works great.

And a ton of knowledge from this incredibly useful YouTube channel.

u/72skylark · 2 pointsr/DIY

Not sure how serious you were, but I think this could be achieved without any serious plumbing. If you had the cash and the skills, you could feed hot and cold through the wall to the other side of the shower. But for $75 or so you could probably get a Y adapter to split the line, an extender arm and a cheap shower head (I have this one and I love it).

I'm actually thinking of trying this now.

u/RageMaster16 · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

This shower head is pretty cool and here is a hand shower head.

I listen to Lindsey Stirling in the shower. I don't have a particular ritual, I just shower randomly lol

u/Garthenius · 2 pointsr/pics

I'm guessing this, but would also like to know for sure.

u/rdobah · 1 pointr/japanlife

I don't have shower problems but I can definitely smell the chlorine when I shower. My mom however does have sensitive skin and used to scratch like crazy because of the water. I bought this a few years ago and she doesn't complain anymore. If you can't get this one, find another with decent reviews. Also you might want to get a water filter for your sink too.

I can probably fit a hose to that, but I don't know about the other end. would this hose fit to this faucet? if not, how do I adapt it?

u/TMaccius · 1 pointr/Homebrewing

The 396 gph version isn't much more expensive. To keep from using too much ice, you could start by letting the pot rest on its own for a few minutes (try a hop stand!), then switch to cold tap water through the pump, then switch that out for ice water. The key is just maintaining a high differential between the wort and whatever you're cooling with.

Another option -- and this is a little off the wall -- is to use your shower. You could switch to a handheld shower, get a diverter, or get a showerhead with a splitter that would let you easily swap in your wort chiller. Handheld showers use a pretty standard 1/2" thread.

I bought this one in November and it's the absolute best I've ever used. Our water pressure is mediocre at best and this thing blasts! Also, it's quite miserly on water consumption. I don't ever see wanting another kind.

I've had one of these since at least 1996. It's fucking amazing

If you're going to go cheap on something like that you can just get one like this for under $10.

Non-Complaint: I bought a new showerhead a while ago and the thing is freaking awesome.

Complaint: It's so powerful that every time I take a shower, there is water on the floor. Somehow, it's getting around the shower curtain.

Complaint: Not only that, but I stepped in a puddle in the kitchen below... somehow the water is dripping through the bathroom floor onto the kitchen ceiling and out through a light fixture.

Non-Complaint: I'm pretty sure I can fix it if I caulk the gap between the tub and the subfloor. Keeping my fingers crossed it doesn't become a massive issue.

Confession: I really need to get my bathroom remodeled badly (it's so gross), but I don't even know where to start.

Non-Complaint: Found a new podcast to listen to ( Dr Death ) and it's made running so much better lately.

One of these means a few screw holes in the wall to attach a supporting bracket but no cutting into the wall to change the plumbing. Only works if you can remove the current tub spout to replace it with the diverter.

I used one, plus a shower curtain ring like this one to add a shower to a tub without having to do any real plumbing work. The shower ring protects the walls (which are wood paneling) from the shower spray. All would be fairly simple to remove if it ever had to go.

This thing has made every apartment I've lived in bearable for years. And it's a better showerhead than 99% you can buy.

Something like this?

If it's energy and saving water you're worried about then those fancy $50/$60 massaging shower heads are not what you want. You want a shower head that can be manually switched on and off so you can take navy showers, Like this Delta Single Stream Shower Head.

wat

Edit: holy crap, there's a shower head called Moxie that plays tunes. OP - does it actually sound good over all the shower acoustics?

u/scottocs · 1 pointr/HomeImprovement

So what do you recommend? A simple alternative like this? Someone said they would do it for $275 for labor but I would need to buy the parts. I'm not sure what parts I would need to buy.

u/flhalfpint · 2 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

Sometimes there is still stuff in the water that bothers your skin. Shower water filters help get it out. We used this onea few years ago when we rented. It really made a difference with y hair and skin!

u/[deleted] · 100 pointsr/TwoXChromosomes

I used to have one like this.

Note the water jets concentrated in the middle.

I always found that showerheards where the central jets are a little further spaced don't give me the pressure I need to, uh.. Rinse the hair dye out of my hair when I'm done dying it.

u/ethidda · 2 pointsr/HomeImprovement

You should be able to change out the shower head. I've always done so for my rentals (and purchases).

Here's what I just bought today for my house: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004NXT3TE/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i02?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Make sure you have teflon tape to seal the connections: http://www.amazon.com/Mr-Gasket-2842G-Teflon-Tape/dp/B000BWCFT6/ref=pd_sim_hi_1

And if your new shower head is still anemic, check to see if you can remove the flow restrictor. (The cheaper ones usually don't, and are the simplest way to obtain higher water pressure if that's all you're looking for.)

Best low flow shower head: Delta Water Amplify 1.5g it feels like it is on the edge of a pressure washer

Does it take a long time to get hot water to your shower then you waste it? I bought one of these valves, when the water gets hot it almost stops the flow till you pull the rope. So you know when the shower water is hot. It's not good for kids cause the water may be too hot. So just be an adult about it, we tend to know where to turn the shower lever too.

Here's the one I have owned and used forever: Navy Showerhead. I got mine at the Base Exchange for $4 back in the '90s, but i think you can pick one up at Wal Mart for $5.

Edit: Use caution, as this restrictive showerhead really increases the intensity of the spray. If you have pretty high water pressure, it can be uncomfortably intense on your gentleman's sausage (but will blast the shampoo right outta your hair).

u/Glorypants · 1 pointr/AdviceAnimals

I use a ladybug valve on my shower head.

  1. Turn on the water.

  2. Walk away to do something productive.

  3. Come back to warm water without wasting any.

Edit: I should really point out that it confuses the hell out my guests if anyone stays over. "The water just turned itself off... so I used the sink."
u/bloodrosey · 1 pointr/pics

Darn, the amazon reviews say it requires a lot of pressure since it uses some of your water pressure to power the lights and that the sound it makes from the turbine is loud. Don't have enough shower pressure to use this. :(
