All right, THIS is the item I've found that I most want. And it's available used (I think?)

Why do I want it? Because it's a soundtrack for one of my all-time favorite games. I always loved the music from it, so this would be an amazing addition to my collection. Why do I love Japan? Well, it fascinates me, to be honest. The mix of modern and traditional that you'll see on the same street. Not to mention that they are the source of SO many great games and we all adore here in the States, as well as anime/manga that so many people love. They're a people that have recovered from WWII amazingly well, becoming quite the powerhouse despite their small land space.

u/TheTanooki · 5 pointsr/fireemblem

The prices are what are listed as of this post; they may fluctuate a little, but usually not by much. I'd probably go with The Art of Fire Emblem Awakening, because it's a really nice, and really big art book with some great content. If your friend is into music like I am, they might also like one of the recent soundtrack releases from Symphony No. 5; all the soundtracks below are either 4- or 5-disc albums with amazing packaging and extras.

Note that if you want the pre-order bonus sleeves, that you'll have to import. CDJapan and Amazon.co.jp both deliver to USA pretty much the day after release. Usually cheaper and faster delivery than the NA Square Enix store. Amazon.co.jp link to ShB OST

All the Shadowbringers OST Bonus Sleeves

Yodobashi Bonus Sleeve Front-Back

JP Square Enix Store Bonus Sleeve Front-Back

JP Sony Music Shop Bonus Sleeve front-back

At this moment in time I can't find the backsides for the Amazon.co.jp bonus sleeve (it has the WoL SAM and flags artwork) or the backside to the TOWER Records order (Large Viera print).

Comparing to Journeys Bonus Sleeves, the CDJapan preorder was same as the JP Square Enix Store Bonus sleeve.

Actually, just go to OP's post here for better pictures https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comments/cn61nl/shadowbringers_ost_out_on_september_11_preorder/ew746h6/

Oh wow when I clicked your links, I am sent to the amazon.jp pages. There's way more detail on their pages than on the American ones!

Let's take a look at the Amazon.jp page for the soundtrack.

We see that there is a matrix number on the headline: TJJA-10015. This is information not apparent on the US page. But we also see on the Japanese page the ASIN number. It is B07GPY62DW.

If we return to the US Amazon page I linked, the ASIN number is also B07GPY62DW. This seems to indicate a match.

Now to go further in depth, using the Amazon.jp link we can look at the track listing. I count 20 tracks. I'd like to see if these tracks match up with the 1988 25AGL-3058 release. I am using this discog page for reference. Just by comparing the Japanese characters on the Amazon tracklist with the characters on the discog tracklist, this also seems to indicate a match. I think that's pretty cool.

So, what do we know? We know that the US Amazon page I posted is for a "My Neighbor Totoro" LP with an ASIN of B07GPY62DW. We know from the Amazon.jp link, the LP with the same ASIN has a matrix code of TJJA-10015. This LP has a tracklist that matches with the information listed on discog for the 1988 25AGL-3058 LP. The 3058, to my current knowledge, is the soundtrack. This leads me to believe that the 2018 TJJA-10015 is a re-release of the 1988 25AGL-3058 LP. Cool.

Now here are my own personal concerns:

The US amazon page's track listing does not match with the 3058 album. The US amazon page does not have the TJJA-10015 code.
It may be possible, that for some reason, whatever is being sold on the Amazon.com (US) market is not what is being sold on their Japanese market. But I highly doubt it.

The ASIN stands for Amazon Standard Identification Number.

It is their own ID system. So, I tried taking the TJJA-10015 ASIN from the Amazon.jp page, and searched for it on the US page. The result I was given was the same link I was posted.

Here's more info on the other options:

The Image album only has 11 listed tracks with the ASIN B07GQW28VM and matrix code ending in 10014.

The Sound Book has 10 tracks, with an ASIN of B07GPXY376 and a matrix code ending in 10016.

I am confident that my post refers to the soundtrack. But I also recognize that the US Amazon page may not have an accurate track listing. Any hesitation due to this discrepancy between US and JP pages is understandable, and to all those hesitant, I encourage them to practice due diligence and see for themselves. If I am mistaken, send me PM and I would gladly edit for clarification.

Tl;dr - All three versions have different track listings, and different ASIN's. Chances are my post is for the soundtrack with a TJJA-10015 matrix code, that seems to match with the 1988 25AGL-3058 release.

I will never forget the day I got Final Fantasy X. I just got a PS2 and had never played a Final Fantasy game before. I saw FFX one day at Best Buy and it had recently released. The cover caught my eye and I HAD to have the game. So I got it and put the disc in as soon as I got home.

The opening cinematic with the Zanarkand song. Wow. I loved everything about it. I had never seen video game graphics look that amazing before. To this day, FFX is my favorite video game and my favorite video game soundtrack. Also, this piano collection is amazing as well.

u/gman243 · 2 pointsr/gamemusic

There's actually an entire FFX Piano Collections album. I believe there's one for FFVI-FFX & FFXII but possibly more. Amazon Link. The piano renditions are beautiful I highly recommend them.

I rather like "Besaid".

EDIT: "Via Purifico" and "Tidus' Theme" are also great.

u/INanoI · 2 pointsr/anime

Good question. Maybe something like Amazon.jp?

There seems to be a button for AmazonPrime Music? God I would love to have the JP songs in my prime account lol :D

u/lolmonger · 4 pointsr/nyc

I might.

I'm not a huge fan of the FF series, but generally orchestral interpretations of (sometimes natively orchestral) video game scores are usually pretty great.

Looks like they've been at this a while and are highly rated:

https://www.amazon.com/Distant-Worlds-Music-Final-Fantasy/dp/B000YFCQSK

u/HorizonZeroD · 1 pointr/Xenoblade_Chronicles

They have it on Amazon. Though currently they only have it on United States Amazon through third-party sellers. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B079ZSSHWJ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_kWFuDbJ93B7A5

But I bought mine from Amazon Japan and it was only about $40 + $9 shipping. Which is cheaper than the US Amazon ever sold it for anyways and things fulfilled by Amazon on there can be shipped internationally to the states so it was a no-brainer decision for me. Also maybe just because I live on the west coast, but the shipping was pretty fast too. Like much faster than if I were to get something shipped to me domestically from even just the midwest.

Check out The Greatest Video Game Music. Performed by the London Philharmonic. Some of the best video game covers I've heard. I got the CD for Christmas and it is fantastic.

u/TransientRandomNoise · 5 pointsr/vinyl

That would be the "Original Soundtrack". They are also a part of this reissue campaign. OP's picture shows the covers for the three Original Soundtracks - may be helpful when ordering.

Here's the Totoro Original Soundtrack, on Amazon US. There are other places to find them for sale. Prices are pretty comparable, across the internet.

u/shojobot · 3 pointsr/VGMvinyl

I think it might be an imported version of the same product. Searching that UPC (4988601467216) brings up the vinyl set on CDJapan, Play-Asia and Amazon Japan. Amazon Japan has a second edition simply listed as "import" with a different UPC. Conversely, that Best Buy UPC pops up on US Amazon for an edition specifically labelled "import," and it's similarly priced to Best Buy https://amazon.com/Final-Fantasy-Remake-Limited/dp/B07TWK6XRT

u/I_Has_Internets · 2 pointsr/gaming

Anytime you mention FFVII in an online forum, a massive pissing match ensues on which ones were the best.

True, better late than never. Once you get into them you will also notice how awesome the music is. If you like classical music, check out Distant Worlds I and II. Here is the torrent link from btjunkie.org. (It doesn't look like a lot of seeders but it will download overnight, most likely). It has a good selection of Nobuo Uematsu's work.

u/Unveiledexodus · 1 pointr/FinalFantasy

The Sky art books on Amazon. They are a collection of concept art by Yoshitaka Imano from the first 10 games. I own this collection and it is really quite spectacular. Hyrule Historia is also a good gift, as it covers all Zelda games from inception through Skyward Sword. Not as much of an art book as it is a general retelling of the franchise and an order of events for the games.

If you husband is somewhat of an audiophile, I would suggest Distant Worlds 1 & 2

This should cover you for whatever birthdays/christmas/anniversaries for like a year.

u/SSChicken · 2 pointsr/gaming

If you like that, then you'll love this. The London Philharmonic did a video game album which is, in my opinion, just fantastic. I found a link on Slickdeals main page a few months ago that was giving the album away for free and I got it then, but unfortunately I can't find it again at the moment (may have been limited time).

You can buy it on Amazon or Google Play for 6 bucks which is well worth it in my opinion.

Play at least the samples of Zelda, Angry Birds, and Tetris to get a good feel of the quality of this album.

u/jt2747 · 1 pointr/gaming

Turns out it is a copy of this:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Greatest-Video-Game-Music/dp/B005QW1FB0

Personally I think the greatest piece of video game music is the boss battle theme from FF7 but there's definitely some good stuff on here

Alternate purchase links (including digital vendors):

I highly recommend ordering from Amazon Japan. I live on the west coast (US) and regularly get my orders two days after placing them. I believe there's a link on every page for an English version of the site.

Edit: Wow, it's actually sold out right now. Apparently it was #1 on Oricon daily at release.

u/countrpt · 2 pointsr/ffxiv

Soundtracks you can also get on Amazon JP. For instance, here is the Stormblood OST:

https://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/B07CZZJ24B/

It's listed at 4047 yen, which is about $37 USD, but they will also remove the 8% Japanese consumption tax when you ship internationally. Shipping will also probably be cheaper and faster than the SE Store. Depending on your country they might set money aside to cover import taxes, but that should generally be a reasonable rate too.

I've bought all the FFXIV soundtracks from Amazon JP over the years and never had a problem.

u/CarolWendelson · 2 pointsr/VinylCollectors

No promises but Amazon is allegedly getting a bunch of copies of The Crow that weren’t shipped to stores. You can place an order but the shipping date is pretty far out.

u/BananaStandRecords · 2 pointsr/vinyl

Doesn't Paypal have a way to just accept credit cards without having an account? If not, here is my link to buy it on Amazon http://www.amazon.com/Cannibal-Musical-Vinyl-Starring-Parker/dp/B019GI773Y/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1452262656&sr=8-1&keywords=cannibal+the+musical+vinyl

Sorry it's a few dollars more, Amazon takes 25% or so :/

u/_stupidsexyflanders_ · 2 pointsr/vinyl

There have been a couple represses though including one from 2013 so you may be able to find it somewhere. I know there are some used copies for sale for around what I paid for this on discogs. Good Luck!

u/B3ta_R13 · 7 pointsr/Gundam

Well you can buy the freakin fantastic soundtrack here

The only similar songs I can find are stuff from John Coltrane's Giant Steps

u/godcent · 6 pointsr/battlefield3

The London Philharmonic Orchestra is releasing "The Greatest Video Game Music" on Nov. 8th, including BF2's theme. I personally cant wait to hear this version.

u/Arqueete · 2 pointsr/ifyoulikeblank

The Cold War plays into Chess and it's got lyrics by Tim Rice, who is lyricist for Evita as well, so you might like that. It's centered around a chess championship that gets a ton of media attention and is played up as a test of intellectual superiority between the US and USSR. The Russian wins, but then defects and runs off with a western woman. The original album would be a good place to start with that one, or if you'd rather watch something, the 2008 Chess In Concert which was released on DVD isn't too bad.

Cabaret has the rise of Nazi Germany going on, and Hair has the Vietnam war, but I'm guessing you're more looking for stories about characters who are themselves influencing politics, right? But if not, those are some suggestions too.

u/rakuprime · 2 pointsr/gaming

Not sure if this is on itunes but http://www.amazon.com/Greatest-Video-Game-Music/dp/B005QW1FB0 might be interesting if you want to hear this.

u/Jerlko · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I've recently been getting into music and I love it.

This album would be great.
If it's a bit too expensive, my wishlist is full of albums with copies that go for less than $10 used, some for less than $10 new as well.

If you couldn't tell, I like vinyl :) It just sounds so much better. I also like the actual record and packaging more than a cd.

Right now, I really like Animal Collective.
Non-current would be Nujabes.
I don't really have a favourite genre, but I guess I listen to a lot of Alt-Rock and Hip Hop.

"Overly rocking out to slow music is distracting"

For those who want to actually you know, support the IP and the artists that made it:
It's downloadable on Amazon Japan

And also on iTunes

u/zztoluca · 3 pointsr/ffxiv

Dont forget Amazon Japan.

Regular version

Get it for less and faster than SE NA/EU store(except UK and France it seems).

Also Amazon JP ships your CD in a box unlike SE store which uses a padded envelope.

Heads up - it's also available from Amazon Japan, which in total will most likely be cheaper for most EU people: https://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/B07TWK6XRT

Also if experiences from the Nier set is anything to go by, these will also ship out faster from Amazon.

The soundtrack is available on Amazon if you want : Amazon US. Seriously the packaging and CDs are sexy, I don't regret buying physical. Just sad that I can't read the booklet as it is in Japanese, there's commentary on certain tracks. Maybe in 10 years when I'll know enough Japanese.

For everyone who is dealing with this, I'm sorry. I've been burned by the SE Store enough to raise a stink about it over Twitter and get replies from Matt Hilton and even once, Soken himself.

For about two years now I've only ordered XIV merch from Amazon.co.jp - please take a look before you go to the SE store, especially for OSTs.

Here is the link for the Shadowbringers physical OST. Looks like it'll be back in stock on September 22: https://www.amazon.co.jp/gp/product/B07W423TPF/

I can't speak for other countries but I know that they ship incredibly fast to the US. On top of that, you can change the website language so that all the information regarding ordering and payment is in English.

You pay just about the same for international shipping there as you would for domestic shipping at the SE store. I really, really would love someone from SE to comment on how terrible their store and store customer service are with the taking payment but never shipping, no communication, etc. But I think the sad truth of it all is that the corporation Square Enix just does not care as long as they get your money.

It doesn't play in the game, it's from London Philharmonic's The Greatest Video Game Music. But the theme from the game is still very good along with the rest of the soundtrack. Very orchestral.

> I am sure there are parts that are good, but goofy aliens, power Ranger colored power armor, and Cortana all scream teenage boy sci-fi Fantasy and it turned me off.

Like I said, to each their own. But most of it is very developed and some of the aliens are some comic relief (Grunts) while others are more serious (Elites). The armor wasn't even that colorful unless you customized it for multiplayer...it's standard army green. Cortana's build was a little...promiscuous though.

IMO, Mass Effect's story and character's had their terrible moments as well. I could never even finish two since it got so dry. Way too much talking going on for an action game. Combat was kinda stale in the first, and not much better in the second.

u/Viet-Bong-Army · 2 pointsr/PS4

I'd guess so, there's money to be made.

If you remember last year FF did the Distant Worlds thing with a couple of different orchestras for example -

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Distant-Worlds-Music-Final-Fantasy/dp/B000YFCQSK

There's the Stockholm version of it. There's money to be made, I suspect someone will want to make some.

u/Albinobird · 5 pointsr/Persona5

If you want the actual CDs, Amazon has them - Amazon.co.jp & CD Japan also have them for slightly cheaper, but I bought it off of Amazon so I wouldn't have to wait several weeks for delivery. (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N1HXZLI). Otherwise, you can get it on Itunes (https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/persona-5-original-soundtrack/1226945984).

I am from the non-Amazon country of Singapore!

Amazon does actually offer free shipping on selected goods, but you'll need to be over $125.

This CD of videogame music should cost less than $25, if it isn't please tell me and I'll pick another!

I ordered it alongside the Zelda: Breath of the Wild soundtrack and the NieR: Automata soundtrack.

The Xenoblade Chronicles 2 OST alone is ¥4,860 ($44.25) but you have to add a small currency conversion fee, the shipping fee (about $10 to my own country, France), and $5 to $9 for "import fees" (payable in advance to Amazon).

The total price I paid for the 3 soundtracks is EUR 125.43 (about $150)
