No problem. Buckle up, get a cup of coffee or take notes or something.

TL;DR Buy this unless the Perfine is back in stock soon.

I have 2 main ones that I cycle through right now, a Perfine 4100 mAh battery (out of stock on Amazon) and a Taeozi 4200 mAh (delisted). I've purchased more, I'll list them and their fates below, kinda chronologically, especially because I'm going to make a bigger post soon outlining all of them once two packages come in.

  • OEM LG Battery #1

The one that came with my phone. I used it once - when I initially got the phone. Drained it to 40% and put it back in the box, for when the inevitable batterypocalypse happens.

  • OEM LG Battery #2

It's good, it still works. I keep it at my parents' place charged to 50% as a spare. Finding an actual OEM LG battery is another story.

  • "OEM" LG Battery #3

Complete shit. Bought it on Amazon. Degraded faster than any of the other 3rd party batteries, like literal weeks before it was shit. It was actually cheaper than all of them too. Phone lags below 50% charge, probably due to voltage sag. Recycled. Was either a fake, really old, really used, or all 3. No recourse or refund with something like this - the 3rd parties on Amazon all honor their warranties in my experience.

  • 2x TQTHL 3300 mAh (delisted)

Came with one of those black wall chargers. One battery gave random "invalid battery" errors out of the box upon booting and would just shut the phone back down. I contacted the seller, they gave me a 50% refund, no questions asked. Bizarrely enough, after really cleaning the contacts on Invalid Battery, it works great now. ~2800 mAh real capacity. The one that was "OK" out of the box degraded, I recycled it after a few months of use.

  • aexpower 3300 mAh battery (delisted)

Same deal as the now dead TQTHL, barely 2000 mAh actual capacity after ~6 months, slowdowns if it's below 50% charge, etc. Contacted them, they offered to send a replacement or a prorated refund based on the 18-mo warranty. Pretty sure aexpower and SHENMZ are the same "company".

  • 2x Perfine V20 Battery BL-44E1F 4100mAh Replacement for LG V20 H990 H910 VS995 LS997 Removable Battery - Out of Stock

I'm about to RMA one of them because I get random "High temperature warning ⚠" screens but only with that specific battery installed. It was the 1st one I bought, and I may or may not have rolled over onto the phone, plugged into a USB-PD charger, with the brightness on max. The 2nd battery I bought a few weeks after that when they were back in stock still works great and AccuBattery estimates 3800 mAh capacity on it. The wonky one has also always been much harder to get the battery cover to close over, so it was probably a dud on Day 1 that's just now manifesting.

  • Taoezi 4200 mAh - Delisted

Tough to get the cover over, but it doesn't give me any trouble. Only bought it because it was a good deal cheaper than the Perfine at the time, and was also in stock.

  • Upgraded LG V20 BL-44E1F Battery Replacement, SHENMZ 4200mAh Li-Polymer Battery 24 Month Warranty

Almost free, I bought it using the refund from the aexpower. Voltage sag below 50% charge after 6 mo, not going to bug them for a refund tho, will recycle it next time I go to Best Buy.

  • TAYUZH LG V20 Battery | 2X 3200mAh Replacement Li-ion Battery with Wall Charger for LG V20 BL-44E1F | V20 Spare Battery - 24 Month Warranty

They legit seem identical to the very first set of TQTHL batteries, from the packaging, to the charger, etc. These Chinese battery "companies" are all just different names for the same shit in my opinion lol. I keep one in my desk and one in the car, and tbh I bought them for the charger. They're probably safer to keep lying around than these sketchy LiPo packs anyways.

  • [Upgraded TAYUZH 2X 4200mAh Replacement Li-Polymer Battery BL-44E1F with Spare Charger for LG V20 24 Month Warranty] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07VK7QKPF/)

On the way because Perfine is out of stock. Technically the cheapest LiPo on Amazon right now. Technically what I'd recommend.

    Special Mention

3 wonderfully ridiculous 3800 mAh "Gold" batteries are on their way from eBay. It was like $24 for 3. I bought them just to see what they were.

There are a few more ridiculous sounding brands of battery on eBay, including one that doesn't even appear to have a "brand name" but has a Chinglish message printed on it about ["Supporting US Taxpayer Company"] (https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F174036162148) and boasts a 4520 mAh capacity! Make BL-44E1F Great Again. And then this 4200 mAh "LOSONCOER" that is more expensive than all of the 4200 mAh batteries on Amazon but ships from China. No thanks. Others include a "Sporting" 4520 mAh and an ACESOFT 4520 mAh, and one that's completely unbranded, possibly the elusive "original" battery that all of these fuckers are buying boxes of to slap labels onto. They're dirt cheap though, $12 or so.

I also bought a MAXXJUICE to see what that's about. I doubt it will be any different from the other 4Ah batteries, and it's a great deal more expensive, but it comes with a case. Also no sales tax because lol Singapore. Yay.

    OEM Batteries

If for whatever reason you want an original LG OEM battery, I've only found 2 legit sources, neither are cheap.

The first is easier, local, quicker, but way more expensive. Find someone selling the retail BCK-5200 package - the battery inside is real and unused. Buying an OEM battery from someone selling the loose BCK-5200 (cheaper) is hit or miss.

The 2nd is an Israeli eBay user that appears to be operating out of a cell phone shop in Bnei Barak. They also still have the LG Quick Cover in stock lol. Everything I ordered from him has a little sticker on it - they were accessories imported for a carrier over there. That's "OEM LG Battery #2" from earlier. It's over a year old. Still works fine.

u/rascalbrother · 2 pointsr/LGG3

I bought a 6000 mah battery from amazon. And I have to say it's awesome. Twice the juice.

I can go 2 days without charging. Did a little experiment. Started the day at 100%. At the end of the day, I was at around 76%.

http://imgur.com/EujBuoN ( pic at 10:30 ish)

Was home all day, so phone didn't get heavy use, but still I think 76% is impressive, way better than the stock battery.

http://imgur.com/fp5NPoR

Then, I went to rainymood.com and played the rain sound all night long. From 12:30am ish till 8 am. Battery in the morning was at 50%. Not bad again.

I'm pretty impressed with the battery, only thing is it's bulkier and you have to use a thicker cover ( came with battery). Usually, I play music all day long. When I'm at work and commuting. I think it drops to around 50% at the end of the day on heavy use.

Sorry for the formatting, on mobile. Don't know how to format correctly and also the dim screenshots, was using CF lumen.

Also, obviously it takes longer to charge.

I see the other guy recommends you install Cyanogen, and I can speak from experience as I currently have Cyanogen 13 (Marshmallow) installed.

First off, do install Cyanogen, I love it so far!!

But it doesn't really fix the battery issues, in fact I think I might actually go through battery a little faster on this ROM.

The S3 was not really future-proofed, in that the battery life has pretty much always sucked. To combat this I bought two Anker 2200mAh Batteries and two Wall Battery Chargers from Amazon. Its great! I love going from 0% straight to 100% in just a minute or two.

I personally go though about 80-160% of battery a day with about 2-5 hours of demanding screen on time, so I do really recommend keeping an extra battery with you. Here is today's minimal (2 hours 50 minutes screen on time) battery usage for reference.

Hope this helps! If you have any more questions feel free to ask.

P.S. Here is the download link for CyanogenMod for your phone.

I've been loving my Yishda batteries. I've been using a single one pretty heavily since I got it, and have even charge it externally many times. I've never gotten the non-OEM battery warning, and the capacity is still as good or better than my original battery. I easily get a full day of reasonably heavy use, at around 75% brightness.

I bought this bundle for something like $27, it's a great price IMO since it comes with two batteries and the external charger.

u/frankle · 1 pointr/Android

The main recommendation I have is to get an extended battery. With the stock battery I used to get about 3 hours screen-on time with average use. I pretty much got used to charging once in the middle of the day. That always seemed to be enough.

Now I have a QCell extended battery and a Trexcell case/cover, and I'm pretty darn happy with them. So far, I seem to be getting a little over 5 hours of screen-on time, and I don't have to charge in the middle of the day at all. It's quite a different experience.

It's certainly down to personal preference, but I like the weightier phone, now that I've gotten used to it.

Also, I have the 5 GB plan, and it's pretty sweet. I use Groove IP and this low-latency audio patch, and it works swell.

I haven't run out of data like I expected to, either. I have gotten up to 2 or 3 GB before, though.

u/tjgere · 2 pointsr/blackberry

You'll love the Q10. I have a Z10 but used a Q10 for a month or so while my Z10 was being repaired/replaced.

To your questions:

  1. 1GB should suffice for the browsing you are doing. I purchased the Data Usage Counter to monitor all my communication services. It is excellent and the DEV is in BETA on a wicked release. Well worth purchasing.
  • Attachments do not automatically download unless you configure your device to do so.
  1. Heat is not an issue I experienced, nor heard from other users. Don't worry about it.
  2. You should get at least a full day of use with a Q10. I recently purchased an extra battery/charger bundle from Amazon for my Z10 and couldn't be more pleased. Spare battery or recharge from the bundle.
  3. I've never had a problem with any BlackBerry I've owned as they are very durable. Do yourself a favour though, get a holster.

Although I loved the keyboard on the Q10, I missed having a larger screen size. YMMV.

The other app that enhances my BB10 experience is HUB++, you too can become a notification ninja :-)

i know it sounds a bit lame, but i absolutely LOVE http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007C8XRJY/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00 . really a great value at only $15. very nice, espically with jelly bean being somewhat more of a battery hog. nothing but great things to say about the battery though

u/[deleted] · 1 pointr/GalaxyNexus

And now you know based off his post that the battery is fine haha. I would let you know how it is but it hasn't come in the mail yet!

EDIT: I was in your position a few days ago before ordering the phone. Ill hop on my computer and give you some links to some posts I made asking questions about the Gnex and the Verizon version specifically.

EDIT 2: Here's a post with a lot of helpful information.
So what I came to conclude is that the battery will drain fast while on 4G, just like any other 4G phone, the extended battery makes the phone barely bigger while helping quite a bit with battery life, and Codename Android with Franco's kernel will help a lot with battery life as well as give you awesome features.

So, I feel the battery deal is solved with:

  • Using 3G.
  • Using this. (Or you could go with a bulky one, but is by no means necessary.)
  • Using Codename Android and Franco's Kernel.
u/chjyi · 1 pointr/moto360

Hahaha geez, that's an intense tangent. I actually thought the wire was see through but coincidentally, I do have something like that. It's not bad. Sometimes it will just randomly deplete its charge and it's hard getting the watch to sit very well because it's flat but otherwise it has very good battery life and is quite portable. It's a 4.8 A so it can charge my One M8 like 3 times.

u/Hyperion1144 · 3 pointsr/GalaxyNexus

Here is the battery I have in my GNex i9250 GSM phone:

QCell Samsung Galaxy Nexus GSM i9250 3850mAh Extended Battery ASIN: B006SKHIKG.

I love it and find it makes my phone very hard to kill.

EDIT: And this is the case to get - Seidio CSK3SSGNLKX2-BK ACTIVE Extended Case with Metal Kickstand ASIN: B0083RTZ7G.

This case provides protection similar to high-end case from Trident. It has a soft layer covered with hard armor that covers all four corners. The kickstand is the really beautiful thing, because it doesn't just work for standing the phone on flat surfaces....

I use it as a finger brace when using the phone one-handed. It lets you safely hold the phone is a whole new way that allows you easier access to the screen with your thumb, while the kickstand braces through your other fingers. I use it like this so often I consider it now an essential feature on the phone.

The soft-armor portion of the case is a bit of a lint-magnet, but it washes off very easy under simple tap water. Just rinse, towel dry, and it is clean again. For me, it is well worth it and I wouldn't trade this case for anything, including the top-end cases from Trident or Otterbox.

  1. Bought it a few days ago, received today.

  2. I bought it from Amazon here

  3. I used the tools that came with it, plus an exacto knife, playing cards, and a hairdryer.

  4. The only minor issue is that I bent the plastic piece at the bottom pulling it off while the glue was still pretty tight. I wish I had taken a little more time and been more careful. It would have been easier if I had a chisel exacto knife instead of a standard - with a standard exacto knife, I had to push down at an angle to get the blade flat to the edge, and it took a while to figure out just how far to push down. Also, I kept accidentally turning on the phone, which didn't seem to cause a problem, but freaked me out.

  5. So far, battery life looks to be about 4 hours of SOT from 1, which seems good. In hindsight, the battery manufacturer recommended leaving the phone off and charging for 12 hours, so maybe I should have done that.

  6. NA.

  7. Other tips - Take your time and it's not that bad. Watch a video until you have a fairly good idea where the display cable is under the battery, so you can stay away from it while getting the battery out.

  8. Not sure if it has a temperature monitor, but probably not.

  9. The replacement cable matches the narrow photo in the OP link, although I thought looked just like the one in my phone. It fit fine but not perfectly, so there was a little tiny bit of slack when I put the phone together.
u/drmickhead · 1 pointr/Android

There seem to be a few, but I'm talking about this one. It has 244 views and 4.5 stars. A very small minority of reviews state that they have problems retaining a charge, but most are happy with their battery life. I can't really speak either way, since I've only had it for a few days, but it looks like a pretty safe bet (as long as you don't mind an extra bulge in the back).

u/neuromonkey · 1 pointr/galaxys4

You could spend days reading stuff on Battery University, but it's probably best to just get a new one. I got a ZeroLemon, and it's been great. There are some high capacity versions available, but they cost a lot.

u/mixedelirium · 2 pointsr/Android

Unfortunately I can't speak specifically about the Galaxy S II battery, but maybe my experience with my extended battery will help.

I ordered a 3500mAH battery for my Incredible, and I'm pretty satisfied with it. My phone seems to last forever when I'm using it, but the one that I ordered made my phone too bulky and heavy for my liking. I just kept it in my bag and switched batteries when the stock battery would run out of power.

I haven't used it lately though, instead I kept a spare stock battery in my pocket, so that when I switched to the extra battery my phone wouldn't gain any extra bulk. It was also much cheaper than the extended battery.

No matter what kind of extra battery you choose it's worth using an external battery charger to charge whichever battery isn't currently in your phone.

u/typhon99 · 3 pointsr/Nexus6P

Update:

I ended up buying the YISHDA Battery off amazon (as recommended bu u/PoetmasterGrunthos) and just finished installing it following this Ifixit guide. Currently the phone says it's fast charging with 1 hr 40 min until full.

I did not buy or need replacement back parts and used a hair dryer to loosen the adhesive. I was very liberal with the hair dryers use around the back glass and continued applying heat while slowly pulling it off. When re-applying the bottom plastic cover due to the way my phone is dented a little I put curved edges in first and then pressed the center down to get everything to fit.I managed to bend back the other small (but noticeable to me) dent near the volume button's with a combination of pressing down on it and gentle hammering.

I would have included pictures however the 6P is my camera. Overall I can't say it feels like a new phone yet, however it certainly seems like it's charging to it's full capacity. I will update again sometime in the future with longer term results of this battery's life, but for the moment I am happy and can say the procedure is not too difficult.

u/goodvibeswanted2 · 1 pointr/gadgets

Somewhat unrelated, but I'm about to buy a power bank (I just learned that term from you, btw) for someone's cellphone, like this or this.

Can you recommend a good, non-exploding one that's not too pricey? I was planning on buying it off Amazon.

u/xerostatus · 10 pointsr/lgv20

I can't speak on the long term life or reliability, but for about a week I've been rocking the 4100mah li-po battery from perfine ($17). Accubattery is showing at least 4100mah on each full cycle charge. I know the Qoo10 one was one of the first and "legit" li-po ones to come out, but perfine might be a cheaper and easier-to-buy alternative. Meanwhile, Shenmz also makes the 4200mah li-po battery ($19) which i think other users here are reporting pretty positive feedback on.

u/thinkythought · 1 pointr/Nexus5

there's a bunch of amazon and such like this that all seem to be rebrands of the same OEM unit.

i mostly came here though, to say don't get the bezalel ark. holy crap, what a hunk of junk. that was the first one of these i saw, and i watched a friend of a friend spend like 20 minutes trying to get his phone to actually start charging with the thing, then it drained pathetically quickly.

note that these are consistently REALLY overpriced. Like, $50+ for a <5000mAh pack, when you could get a new trent or a xiaomi or something 10kmAh or more for ~$20. How much is wireless charging worth to you?

ebay and amazon have plenty, though. just searching "qi wireless battery bank" or "battery pack" or whatever worked.

u/RedPill115 · 2 pointsr/tmobile

> but also wsnt sure if I should wait for the S6

I'd say wait for the s6.

The s3 was a decent phone when it was released, but now it's crap. I had one, went to an s4 - it's such a faster and better phone it's almost unbelievable. If I had known, I would have switched when it came out.

But - an s6 should have band 12, which the s5 (and most other phones right now) don't have. It should be designed with VoLte in mind as well, though the s5 does have VoLte if I remember right already.

I personally bought a refurbished s4 because I needed a TMobile phone (my s3 was on verizon) and I'm waiting for around March when the next crop of phones will come out that have band 12 and are designed for VoLte.

If you're having battery life issues, you can buy a new battery for the s3 for $10-$15, like this one:
http://www.amazon.com/Capable-T-Mobile-EB-L1G6LLU-18-Month-Warranty/dp/B00A44JSFK/ref=sr_1_3?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1421092313&sr=1-3&keywords=samsung+galaxy+s3+battery

u/JackRayleigh · 28 pointsr/Android

I'm still using a Galaxy S4 and about to get my Galaxy S8+

I've had fantastic experiences with Samsung. You see a lot of Touchwiz jokes but I don't understand them, I've never had an issue with it.

I bought a 6,000 mAh battery pack for my S4 about a year ago for like 30 bucks and it's obscenely nice having a phone that will last more than day on a charge.

u/Angrybutcher · 2 pointsr/jailbreak

I think the 5s has uses the same process as the 5. I just replaced mine a couple months ago. Very easy process.

https://www.amazon.com/Replacement-Battery-iPhone-ScandiTech-Repair/dp/B011IZFDKM/ref=sr_1_1?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1480793502&sr=1-1-spons&keywords=iphone+5s+battery&psc=1

They make a great product, excellent packaging and instructions.

Really it's two screws on the bottom, pry off the screen with the included tools, unscrew a small cover plate, unplug, remove battery....etc.

u/vectorvitale · 3 pointsr/lgv20

Yes. Both the BCK-5200 Battery Charging Cradle (Charging via USB-C) and any given 2x Battery and Wall Cradle will work. I have both and I find both very useful. I have the White cradle mounted to the wall near my bed with a command strip, and I can just come home from work, pull the battery out and put the new one in. I use the wall cradle at work to charge a battery and my Sony WI-1000x headphones, becuase the wall cradle does actually have an additional USB port on the side. I find that charging the battery and something via the USB does take longer on both, so keep that in mind. I'd try and find a BCK-5200 on Ebay or Swappa or something and get that, and grab a wall cradle. You can put the wall cradle in your backpack or pocket on the way out the door and basically always have full battery, it's really nice. The same can be said for the BCK-5200 though - I occasionally would use it in the car to charge my second battery as well, or use a portable power bank. It's slimmer and nicer looking, and I could be mistaken but IIRC also support QC3.0 + PD, so it'll charge faster. /u/JeromeZilcher will be able to confirm that.

u/Vieuxtemps · 0 pointsr/gadgets

I got this one for my galaxy s4, which actually holds more juice than most stock laptop batteries. It made the battery last about 3 times longer but it also made it 3 times heavier. It weighs about as much as 1 cup of water (8fl oz). I think it's worth it to know that even if you're away from a charger for 2 nights you'll still have battery left, and that's without conserving. If I underclock my phone cpu, turn down screen brightness, and turn off mobile internet and only text and make calls, my phone would probably last a week. If you're looking to only use about 50% of your battery life per day, I would recommend the slightly lighter version.

Hyperion Samsung Galaxy S4 7500mAh Extended Battery with NEW MicroP... http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BCJZYE0/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_JJcytb1CA4GT7

I just got it yesterday, so if you message me in a few days I'll let you know how it's going. The instructions say it has a "break-in period" of 4/5 days, but I can already tell the battery life is significantly increased.

I also got the honeycomb case they sell for it, and I love it. Flexible, but matte so it doesn't get stuck in your pocket or keep dirt and fingerprints.

I have an HTC One. I researched a lot and finally bought Blackberry's external power bank for Q10. It is 2100mAh and I paid £20/INR 2000 for it. Why I chose it:

  • Design: Small, flat, with an inbuilt USB cable and a charge level indicator button+light that changes as the battery drains.

  • Replaceable battery: You can swap the battery out and put it inside your Q10. I don't have that phone but I liked the idea that I can simply replace the battery later on as it starts to go bad.

  • Quality: Hardware quality of BB has always been good.

  • Simultaneous charging: You can plug in a series; wall charger>Powerbank>phone and charge all of them together. Great for charging both of them together in one go.

2100mAh is enough for me to top up my phone when I am out. It almost fully charges my phone from zero.

You an buy a double capacity battery for the GN. Seidio offers it for $75 right here. So right there you've cancelled out the one advantage of the Maxx over the GN. Get the GN, don't throw your money at Moto's locked down phones.

Do it yourself if you're at all handy, it's pretty easy, all you need is hair dryer or heat gun, some guitar picks, a credit card and a flat blade precision knife (exacto) or similar.

worked great for me right up until my performance cores separated and my 6p went into cold storage as an emergency backup.

My phone is heavily modded:

Battery: I have an Antek 4400 mAh battery. It thickens the device a bit, but I really don't mind how it feels in the hand. I can go a full day with absurd amounts of screen-on time (like 10 h) and having everything always on, or easily two days with normal usage. I would never go back.

Softkeys: I don't like hardware keys, especially the non-touch home button, so I edited my build.prop by adding hw.qemu.mainkeys=1 to enable software keys, and used PA's own internal options to disable backlight on the hardware keys (I left them active so that I can unlock my phone from the home button, which is easier with my left-handed use)

Theme: I use Material Teal, a dark material design-y theme.

Looks: I hate gradients and I love solid colors, so I use Flat Style Colored Bars (requires Xposed) to auto-color the status and navbar of each app. It also has a superuseful function that lets you manually pick the color of any bar from on-screen elements, so that if autodetect doesn't work or you want a different look you can have it. Performance it is inpercetpible, unlike PA's dynamic system bars implementation.

Protection: I use Smart App Lock to disguise and lock certain apps whenever I'm not connected to my home wifi or car bluetooth. I have it set up so that if you try to open a restricted app, a "The app has crashed" popup appears; long-pressing the "Ok" button opens a pattern unlock screen that lets you access the app. I'm also using Cerberus, and I will likely install Advanced Power Menu + to get the fake power off menu (so that if my phone is stolen the thief might not realize he hasn't turned it off).

Media handling: Xposed Media Scanner Organizer lets me fix various issues with the media scanner on my device\ROM combo, and more importantly manually trigger a media scan.

Interface\Behavior: I have VolumeSteps+ to give me finer control over volume, Minimum Brightness to reduce the minimum brigthness by a factor of 10 so it's usable at night, Burnt Toast to show app icons in toasts, Complete Action Plus to handle intents, ActivityForceNewTask to fix android's behavior when opening an app inside another, Battery History XXL to get more records in the battery history.

I have more but I think these are the ones that are at least a little bit unusual.

You mean like this one? (Besides charging, it also has a 3.5 mm audio out jack.)

Good luck finding an inexpensive CANBUS adapter/software package. It's a proprietary standard owned by Bosch so they get royalties for its use. You'll need to step up to a real PC (laptop) to find accessories that will monitor the OBD-II interface for a decent price.

If you get a really big extended battery, it will last all day, but I'm talking 3-4 times the original size. I had a galaxy s4 with a [7500mAh Extended battery] (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BCJZYE0/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_ZLTbvb1PEGWV8) and it would last a day or two.

And trust me, I use my phone a lot. I ran my nexus 5 from 100% -- 0% battery in 4 hours yesterday.

[Help] iPhone 7 battery replacement (Ifixit kit?)

Hey got an iPhone 7 to replace my 6 and I'm looking for the best battery replacement kit.

When I had to do this on my 6, I got this and it worked pretty well but the manufacturer doesn't make any for the iPhone 7. The rest on amazon seem to have very mixed reviews so I was contemplating the ifixit kit, especially since I can replace the display adhesive for waterproofing. Has anyone had any experience with it?

u/DZCreeper · 1 pointr/hometheater

If the only flaw of the smartphone approach for you is battery life, get some cheap like an old Samsung Galaxy S4 and fit it with an extended battery.

Should be pretty cheap, if you run a stripped down Android OS and only use IR + short-range wifi it should be able to last a few days at minimum.

u/3itmn · 5 pointsr/Android

3rd party extended battery. I have one myself for the S4 (though not exactly this model) and it works really well. Just turns your phone into a small brick that's easy to hold.

u/danash182 · -3 pointsr/Android

not really, these cases tend to be an external battery charging your phone which only has about 65% efficiency, your better off buying a extended battery and back cover like this one It doesn't make your phone as thick and you will get much pore power with a much smaller battery.

u/cory8092 · 2 pointsr/Axon7

I just ordered one off Amazon and put in today. Seems to work well and the quick charging works correctly. Cameron Sino 3100mAh Li-Polymer Replacement Battery for ZTE Axon 7 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071S9JCNT/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_jJX8BbZMCSGXC

It's a lot easier to replace than you think. Be very careful of the display cable. If you have the main board towards your right its at the top edge of the battery. I used a credit card to slip under the battery. It's kind of tough to remove.

u/_blackwatch · 1 pointr/ProjectFi

This is the one I bought and found that I didn't even need a few of the items. Here is the camera glass cover

An X-ACTO or other utility knife along with a playing card (used a Joker to not mess up my other cards lol) was also useful.

If you want to go cheap and try a new battery, you can get one for like $10 on Amazon.

I recently got one for my 2 year old S4 and I've noticed a considerable increase in battery life.

  7. If you use a hair dryer heat it for a really long time (couple mins) I'm pretty sure it's not as effective as a heat gun as the glue wasn't always melting well if I didn't heat it for a while. And as others have mentioned when removing the glue from under the battery, becareful of the black ribbon (see YouTube videos) you can potentially rip it.

I literally just did a 5s battery replacement last night. Got the scanditech one from Amazon here, which is essentially the same as the ifixit one:

http://www.amazon.com/Replacement-Battery-iPhone-ScandiTech-Repair/dp/B011IZFDKM/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1463409128&sr=8-3&keywords=scanditech

It went well, except for the adhesive strip removal in the back of the phone. The adhesive snapped which made me have to slowly pry the battery upwards in order to be able to access it again, which felt super uneasy.

Just be wary that you should take your time with the adhesive strips, because man, it's a pain in the ass if they snap.

Also, when using the suction cup, I found it super difficult to lift up the screen, so I would caution to take is slow, find a break between the metal frame and the screen, wedge the spudger in there, and guide it around the screen to undo the clips without pulling the suction cup.

I went with "gently pulling the suction cup" like described in ifixit's and scanditech's own guides and, once one of those screen clips undid it self, the entire thing flew open way faster than I expected.

Fortunately didn't break the fragile touch ID cable.

I got my wife the 3800 Hyperion battery and a case. It's slightly bigger, but she really likes it (with the case).

She typically would come home from work with about 2% battery. Now she gets home with about 62% with normal use.

u/notaneggspert · 1 pointr/GalaxyS3

I grabbed this one a while ago after my OEM battery started ballooning, same size, effectively the same capacity, and retains NFC.

It can be hard to find legitimate samsung oem batterys, they're easy to fake so by going 3rd party you know what they're getting. Anker is an awesome company.

Also if you're rooted resetting the battery stats file through an app.

u/fiah84 · -1 pointsr/LGG3

of course it makes the phone thicker, the battery has twice the capacity. It's also twice as heavy. There is no free lunch here.

Personally I would buy a used LG G3 off ebay or amazon. Then i would buy an extended battery off amazon like this one: (https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00TBBL896/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?qid=1465267379&sr=8-2&pi=SY200_QL40&keywords=lg+g3+extended+battery&dpPl=1&dpID=517t3ZyX23L&ref=plSrch). If you are technically savvy put cyanogenmod on it and decrease the resolution to 1080 from 1440 and it will run as well as newer phones. This is what I have and actually refuse to upgrade.

u/mamefan · 3 pointsr/GearVR

In your version, the fans would need to be very small if mounted to the sides of the visor. I cut a fan-sized hole in my visor and put a thin 80mm PC fan in there that blows outward. Air in either direction will keep the phone cool though.

This is the fan I use: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00N1Y4U8U?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_search_detailpage

Question for you.

I literally just replaced mine today and I'm having trouble getting the phone to boot up. When I installed it, the phone indicated it at 38% charge, but then it dropped and turned off. I was able to turn it back on but it did the same shut down shortly after.

I put it on the charger and now I've tried several times to reboot it with no success yet. What happens is it will go through the google log0 and the android animation, then the phone will vibrate once, make a chime, flash the android logo and then go to black. I've caught a brief glimpse of the homescreen a few times before it completely shut down, so I know something is working.

I've read that sometimes a phone won't accept a new battery right away and needs some time before it gets working properly, but I'm nervous that there's an issue. Have you experienced this at all or heard about it? Should I just keep it on the charger and be patient or should I do a factory reset?

Here's a link to the replacement I bought:

Q10. It's been a while, but I think the double typing was mostly solved via a software update. (I'd have to dig through old forums but I remember experiencing it for a while and a build basically fixed it.)
Wear on the USB connector isn't a big deal if you buy the battery pack charger (https://www.amazon.com/BlackBerry-Extra-Battery-Charger-Bundle/dp/B00BR1QHUS/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1498092351&sr=8-3&keywords=battery+blackberry+q10) . You can always swap the battery in. While many android apps will have poor compatibility by todays standard, you should be able to get some social apps working.

u/DontTread0nMe · 1 pointr/pebble

I used to carry multiple batteries around for my phone. I'd have a spare battery charger in my truck plugged in with a spare being charged, a completely charged battery in the glove compartment, and one in my wallet. I then upgraded to a Samsung Galaxy S4, and bought an extended capacity battery and now I can go three or four days before I have to charge my phone. Much more convenient than having to swap batteries.

u/9966 · 2 pointsr/Android

I really like it, actually.

The basics: I went with Trexcell 3800 mAh (on Amazon) for about $20. The first battery they sent was defective or something (same if not worse battery life than stock). The second one worked... they have good customer service for replacing batteries, so just keep an eye out on your screen-on time the first few days using it. If I were doing it all over again, I'd probably try their competitor Hyperion. I can't comment on their quality.

Looks/weight: It doesn't look pretty as pretty as stock, but it does add some nice weight to it (I can tell if its right side up by feel). I can also tell if its in my pocket or not. The original was often so light I could reach into my pocket several times and still freak out that I had misplaced my phone. I'm now quite a fan. When you're holding it no one can see the ugly backside unless you point it out.

Cases: Originally I just cut the back off my case from Verizon (which I still have as a back up) with box cutter. I now use this case that costs $3.09 for it, which gives it a nicer profile. You get what you pay for, though, and the rubber is kind of falling off (for the second time). So I may go back to my case.

My settings: (CM10 alpha from winner00, about to switch to Liquid Smooth JB when the first non-beta release drops). I'm on 4g most of the day, and Wifi at home. I manually toggle 4g off and Wifi on at home, and reverse it during the day. I use the CM10 notification bar toggles (same when I was running ICS Liquid Smooth 1.5). I don't know if it saves battery to turn off 4G when running WiFi, but it hasn't hurt. Worse case scenario I leave the house and I'm running 3G while listening to my audiobook.

That was much more than I intended to type, but if you have any more questions let me know.

u/Valiant4Funk · 4 pointsr/GalaxyNexus

The left side would never stay secure and always pop out slightly when I took my phone out of my bicycle saddle bag to/from my work commute. All I ended up having to do was rip the sticker off it. That teeny-tiny layer was all I needed to remove to make the back cover stay as secure as the stock battery. It's been several months now and the back cover as never popped off unless I wanted it to.

I would make sure you peeled off any stickers you can.

u/onaf · 2 pointsr/iphonehelp

Unfortunately I basically destroyed the old battery trying to get it out. The connector is no longer attached. I do not believe I damaged any other part of the phone trying to get the battery out though. But if I did, what part of the phone would most likely be broken to get this problem? Just where the battery connects to the phone? (Sorry if my wording is bad.)

I think I will just contact the company, and see if I can get a different battery.
