I'm going to agree with everyone saying that generally speaking dresses made for women who aren't pregnant just won't sit right on your body while you're pregnant even if you can get it on and it "fits." There are a couple of exceptions to this like empire waited dresses and bodycon type dresses stretchy enough to accommodate a bump. Like this dress. (Taken from this thread from a month or so ago.)

But all that being said if you have a dress you're just in love with I'd say get it. Maybe wait till a bit closer till the shower to get it so you have a better idea on sizing. I think I've heard ASOS has a pretty good return policy so the other option would be to order a couple of sizes and then return the ones that don't work out.

Personally if I were going to try to wear a nonmaternity dress while 38 weeks pregnant I'd size up from my pre-pregnancy size. But I'm only 23 weeks and I already can't wear any of the bras I owned before I got pregnant because my breasts have gotten a lot large so the dress being larger in the bust than I needed before pregnancy would be an added bonus of sizing up. If you didn't really change anywhere other than your belly you may notice the dress is somewhat ill fitting when you size up.

It's also worth mentioning that if you size up enough to accommodate your belly and then you realize that the size you need for the baby bump leaves the dress too large elsewhere you can probably have the dress altered. I know some places do alterations for a pretty reasonable fee. I personally wouldn't really be willing to pay for a dress that probably wouldn't fit after pregnancy and also alterations but hey if you really love it and you have your heart set on it, then it's definitely an option. And while it wouldn't be worth it to me that doesn't mean it isn't worth it, ya know? Do what makes you happy!

I'm so bad at dress shopping on amazon. O__O

edit /u/rarelyserious is awesome and helped me find a dress I like. this is it! :D Thanks! ♥♥♥

u/shortncurvypixie · 1 pointr/bigboobproblems

my little black dress I've only worn this one for a few hours, so Haven't washed it yet, also I got it in black so I'd have something for funerals & stuff, but it comes in other colors

the only high neck thing I own the flowers camouflage the boobs, so they don't look 3x their normal size. Since it was half the price of other dresses I machine washed it inside out on cold and machine dried it I had great results :)

my favorite so far I love the flowers & shape. If you'll notice, unlike most dresses the "boob slots" are much larger & let the girls fit in without it looking weird.

my cotton plain one Purchased to have something I could wear for casual days

EDIT: let me know if you wanna know what sizes I wound up purchasing :) I followed review guidelines mostly

u/TheBearMuffin · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Oh dear gods.

I may or may not have spent the last...2 ^ish ^plus hours dress shopping on amazon.

Also, dress shopping on amazon kinda sucks unless you're lucky with keywords. Yikes.

Also also, I'm linking several. Why?

Well. Some are both pretty, and I could wear to work. Some are just omfg pretty, and a couple are a couple sizes small and would function as a reward for my progress :)
Plus, I mean who doesn't like surprises?

Okay! So a few options here, as well as accessories to really cinch the look.

A first look!

More flowers!

This dress with some colored accessories

Or this Frida dress which could definitely be made elegant with nude heels and a tight updo.

Also this colorful dress which I think would be great with some fun bright shoes and matching bag!

Here are some extra goodies to spice up any of the selections!

So I’m about 18/20 but I’m 5’3. I definitely carry weight in my stomach and have a bloated look.

This is me.

I found finding dresses that flare out help me.

This is one of my favorite dresses:

oxiuly Women's Patchwork Foral Pockets Puffy Swing Casual Party Dress OX165 (2XL, Blue + White) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MG0R24H/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_c-VmDb9C530WC

It stretches and flares out so hides my belly and accentuates my butt.

I do have this maxi dress which isn’t awful but doesn’t help that much with the stomach:

LiMiCao Women Fashion Printed Long Dress Three Quarter Sleeve Retro Flower Floor Length Maxi Dress (2XL, Blue) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073TRBGZ9/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_cdWmDbZ443YYF

And for day to day office wear my favorite outfit is black pants with one of JcPennys brand’s Worthington 3/4 sleeve blouse. It has a longer front and back and the 3/4 sleeve covers my upper arms but doesn’t have too much material:

https://jcp.app.link/URVGE4aAtY

https://jcp.app.link/wpMyeYdAtY

Other than that, I’m struggling too lol.

u/tootshores · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I interpreted Frida several different ways, but these are some that I like:

Romantic

Flirty

Edgy - worn with a nude or black slip underneath

Folksy

Modest

Glam

Super pricey, but stunning!

I'm sure you'll look stunning! Have fun! :)

u/QueenAnneBoleynTudor · 11 pointsr/femalefashionadvice

[This dress](Milumia Women's Button Up Split Floral Print Flowy Party Maxi Dress Black M https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LL50S4K/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_joXqzb6FZ7A3H) fits like it came from Gods personal closet. It's lightweight, breathes like Egyptian cotton, and the slit goes to your knees so it's extra breezy.

It comes in literally 30 colors, you're bound to find something you like.

It makes me feel like a princess!

Also, [this skirt](Milumia Women's Bohemian Floral Print Wrap Skirt Summer Long Maxi Skirt Black XS https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MPY9XNH/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_AsXqzbS8G79YB) fits my flowy, California cool summer aesthetic perfectly.

u/Derparita · 1 pointr/OkCupid

it looks a lot like this one i have except with little sleeves! i love it

the one i have is really flattering too and super soft/stretchy/thick/wonderful ♥

u/burr0wz · 2 pointsr/femalefashionadvice

I apologize for the link formatting. I'm on mobile, but...Here ya go! Keep in mind, this is my own symbolism...Not necessarily about the type of fit, but more about the pattern, which "felt" right.

This felt sexy, but also like Zelda might wear it in Montgomery before NYC. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01LL50S4K/ref=sxts1?ie=UTF8&qid=1486894830&sr=1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65

This also reminded me of a modernised Montgomery. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01IXZS6HW/ref=ya_st_dp_summary

This reminded me of her first night in NYC, just being wild, but also a little sweet with the sleeves. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01LL50S4K/ref=sxts1?ie=UTF8&qid=1486894830&sr=1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65

Again, more about symbolism than actual fit, plus I'm on a budget :), but I tried.

u/amadexodus · 10 pointsr/RedPillWomen

Yes! I love the Tom's Ware sleeveless dress; it's at a great length, comfortable, and can very easily be dressed up or down. They'll fit a little more snugly if you have a larger bosom, but I've found that as long as the waist fits, my figure is accentuated very nicely. I have 5 or 6, and they've lasted me well over a year at this point :)

u/TaliaLackey · 2 pointsr/CasualConversation

A-line dresses are amazing and are pretty much flattering on all body types.

For people who are "pears" (heaving on bottom), it can balance them out and make them look more even.

It can add shape to people who are shaped more like celery.

It can add definition to the waist of a person shaped like an apple.

And if someone does have a perfect hour glass figure, then a A-line just helps show off what's already there.

Almost all of my dresses are A-line. I'll probably get married in an A-line dress. I wear A-line dresses to work. I wear A-line dresses out for dinner and drinks. I graduated college in an A-line. I wore an A-line on my first date with my fiance. Fuck, I lost my virginity in an A-line now that I'm thinking about it.

In short, get yourself an A-line!!!!!!!!

Edit: I also bought my sister and myself a dress from the link I sent you. Floral for me and polka dots for her. The dress also comes with a skinny belt.

I bought this dress and LOVE it! I'm around 44-34-44 and bought a large and it fit perfectly. I buy a lot of clothes on Amazon and end up returning about half, but what I do keep is usually awesome!

Hopefully that link works. I may need a slip underneath, but it's pretty thick fabric (something more colored would probably be totally fine). I love it!

I bought this FFA favourite maxi from Amazon in leopard, though the light green floral is gorgeous.

It's fantastic! The chest area can stand to be just a little bigger but that can be fixed with a different bra. It's very lightweight and comfortable. I'm 5'7 and it hits just above the top of my feet.

u/groovyfinch · 1 pointr/February2018Bumpers

I wore this dress to a wedding in June, and aside from being a total bear to iron, it worked out really well. I wasn't showing then, obviously, but I think it would work with a belly. And it was super comfy and flowy and totally wedding appropriate. Plus it was like $30!

u/doloce · 3 pointsr/FrugalFemaleFashion

I currently have the two below in my Amazon cart. Both are pretty well-reviewed (4 and 4.5 stars with 100+ reviews), so I'm excited to purchase them. BONUS (to me, anyway), they both come in multiple colors, so if I love them, I can just get more in different colors and then live in them.

I love these vintage style dresses, they cinch the waist and the wide skirt looks amazing with or without a petticoat. I wore this for a dapper day event in Disney. Im a 18/20 and got the 3x, it was a little roomy but I didnt want it to be too tight or uncomfortable. I used a big elastic belt with it. It is my favorite dress ever and I've gotten a lot of compliments on it.

Most Pentecostal churches usually require long dresses or skirts (nothing above the knee) and modest tops. No jewelry except for wedding ring, watch, or small studs in ears. No makeup.

However some pentecostal churches are a bit more lax on those rules though.

You can probably look for a dress like the mother of the bride would wear in a traditional wedding as an example. Maybe a little less sparkly. Some of the vintage dresses from Amazon would work too. They have a swing dress with 3/4 sleeves that I've bought before and it's pretty and flattering. https://www.amazon.com/oxiuly-Womens-Patchwork-Pockets-Casual/dp/B01MG0R24H/ref=asc_df_B01MG0R24H/

u/cblace · 5 pointsr/blogsnark

Ooh ooh I just went to a 90s party. I wore this dress: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01K4DOPYO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 with a tshirt, docs, a velvet choker, and patterned lacy tights. I also went OTT and got a brownish-red lipstick to wear. I thought it looked great.

u/redblueorange · 4 pointsr/weddingplanning

I found a similar one. Floerns Women's Floral Ruffle Off Shoulder Party Sexy Bodycon Dress White M https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01JA4WPC2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_oMNfzb119AH2S

For Arian I would get this shoot I might buy them for myself right now. Based on her list she seems like a pretty cool chick.

For you this [dress](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073B2CRRZ/?coliid=I1N9L3SVFEFLMO&colid=DVZD2IHRV52U&psc=1&ref\_=lv\_vv\_lig\_dp\_it] it looks so comfortable for summer)

u/Supernumerary · 6 pointsr/femalefashionadvice

So I've seen these series of dresses get referenced on FFA a lot lately. I love them conceptually, but my style doesn't really line up with florals or too much boho. I'm really enamored with these dresses, though, and feel like that breezy aesthetic is something I could work with in the summer. (Usually being much more of a minimalistic, I-like-my-geometrics-and-hard-lines sort of gal.)

Has anyone come across a dress that they'd consider similar, albeit less high-femme?

u/jessicat7474 · 5 pointsr/femalefashionadvice

I guess it depends. I’d probably go in jeans and a really nice top with some cute flats. But since baby showers are frilly I guess a dress. This is so cute dress with a denim jacket. This is nice but material may be cheap. this both the Amazon dresses would get to you in time. Not sure about the jcrew.

u/megalegin · 1 pointr/weddingplanning
