🎓 Reddit experts on corn & callus trimmers
The comments and opinions expressed on this page are written exclusively by redditors. To provide you with the most relevant data, we sourced opinions from the most knowledgeable Reddit users based the total number of upvotes and downvotes received across comments on subreddits where corn & callus trimmers are discussed. For your reference and for the sake of transparency, here are the specialists whose opinions mattered the most in our ranking.
Wash your face every night before you go to bed with a facial cleanser. Or morning if you work night shifts.
Use moisturizer. Also use beard oil if you have a beard. Yeah, the rugged look is sexy, but dry hands and face are not.
Silk pillowcases are better than cotton for your skin and hair.
Wash your bedding items at least monthly. And if you wear hats a lot, wash them too.
You can use the skin treatments in the makeup aisle (anti-wrinkle cream, creams that reduce under eye bags and darkness, etc). It;s better to start using them when your younger and the wrinkles haven't formed than waiting until you look like Farnsworth.
Brush your teeth.
Drink lots of water.
Cut down on junk food being overweight, smoking, and excess drinking. Not only are they bad for your health, but they age you like crazy.
Use sunscreen!
Workout.
Exfoliate your body and use body wash.
Take care of your hands and nails. Keep them trimmed, cleaned underneath the nails, and use moisturizer. Same with your feet. You can even buy something like the Amope or a pumice stone for dry heels and calluses on feet.
I like a guy with a natural forest, but if you want to shave your pubes:
Oh yeah, if you do that in the shower, it's a good idea to have one of these. It'll be easier to clean up after yourself and you won't clog the drains. If you have a anyone with long hair in your house or using your shower, you should already have one in every shower they have access to.
Haha well the majority of the plastic look can be attributed to good lighting and a camera that can't pick up fine detail xP The rest of it's due to an absurd amount of looking-after. I scrub with a ped-egg first, then an emery file, then (believe it or not) super fine sandpapery stuff, and finally use the incredibly super amazing Emjoi Micro-Pedi to finish it all off. Honestly, you could probably get by just with the Emjoi, I'm a huuuuuuuge fan! I do this routine after I've dried off from a shower 3-5 times a week :x
I also moisturize at least once daily, and the occasional lube seems to help :P <3
And yes, I realize this is absolutely crazy and probably not a sustainable lifestyle choice. My boyfriend's thanking me for the moment, though!
Before bed, I use a callous remover like this every few weeks, or when needed. It looks like a cheese grater for your feet, but it works wonders! I have also used electric versions like this, which are great if you don't have a lot of time to spend. But honestly, the chess grated looking callous remover works better!
Then I follow up with a thick, heavy moisturizer (Vaseline is inexpensive & works very well), and put on cotton socks to sleep in. In the summer, my feet tend to get rough much faster, so I also will do a quick scrub at the end of my shower every few days with a pumice stone.
If you're embarrassed about your feet I'd check out the [TONYMOLY Shiny Foot Super Peeling Liquid.] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BCHME3G/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_yKU2xbGHFC9GN) You can get it from Amazon, you sit with your feet in these plastic bags for two hours with the solution inside. Then about a week later your feet start to peel like crazy. At that point I recommend doing a foot soak and before you take your feet out rubbing them in the water to get more skin off.
After doing that you can get Amopé Pedi Foot File , on Amazon, to help maintain your smooth skin. Also make sure to lotion.
Now if you just want the experience and the enjoyment of a professional pedicure as others said just go to any local place. They don't care what your feet look like they just want to make some money.
Once upon a time my feet were beautiful And for some reason once I hit my late 20's I as getting hard heels and calluses like weeds in a park.
I lotioned and used acid peels. I changed my shoes and literally used a razor to razor off the skin. There was no cure. And "Baby Feet" was a waste of money that ultimately took almost 2 months to stop looking like Parmesan.
So I bought Amopé Pedi Perfect Foot File - Electronic Pedicure Too on Amazon. It's gentle, not very noisy, and takes a little time, but once a week on dry feet I buff up the hard spot and then apply a basic shea butter (like a giant $7 Trader Joe's jar, so nothing fancy, and I have fancy foot bullshit) and put on fuzzy socks and slippers. Which is is about 5 minutes out of my week, it has been the one thing that consistently has kept my feet looking nice. While I can still feel hard spots by the next week, I cannot see dryness or cracking. So as far as looking like pretty feet, this keeps up the act.
The best advice I've seen for getting rid of calluses has come from weightlifter, guys like Wendler and Tate. The hand calluses build up until they rip off, ruining the next week of working out.
They recommend soaking the hand or foot then using a metal or stone remover. However the most common I've seen is a dull butter knife to scrape them away. SCRAPE, not CUT. Lots of videos on youtube.
Hello! Meet your new best friends:
Step 1)
When upper layer skin starts to remove itself from lower layer (noticeable skin starts to callus at the palm of your hands/starts turning yellow) use a callus shaver to remove the top layer (dead skin):
http://www.amazon.com/Tweezerman-Safety-Slide-Callus-Shaver/dp/B000G62I12/ref=sr_1_1?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1342067031&sr=1-1&keywords=tweezerman+callus+shaver
Note: Make sure you do not shave live skin.
Step 2)
Remove/smooth out remaining deadskin while taking a nice soothing hot shower with a smoothing pumice stone.
Note: Make sure you do not smooth down to the live skin (white/pink/red).
http://www.amazon.com/Tweezerman-Callus-Stone/dp/B000U6I6Q4
Step 3) In case of rip; disinfect and use the following for protection of infection and debris during WODS:
http://newskinproducts.com/en/Products/Liquid_Bandage.aspx
WARNING: THIS SHIT BURNS LIKE FUCKING HELL. But it works GREAT!
This is amazing. Emjoi Micro-Pedi Nano Callus Remover (Powerful & Corded) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B008PJZXT6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_nngpDbJKA3Z7S
And I buy stronger rollers like this:
Emjoi Micro-Pedi Refill Rollers (Super Coarse) - Pack of 4 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00M4PLBDE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_-ngpDbT17441D
I very much recommend the pedi pro deluxe. At the risk of sounding like I'm on a commission here, it is bloody brilliant, even when I've neglected my feet for weeks, it can make them feel smooth and lovely in minutes. It's basically like an electronic version of the pedi-egg.
Hope it helps! These are the type roller you want http://www.amazon.com/Emjoi-Micro-Pedi-Roughest-Toughest-Calluses/dp/B00BC27QFW/ref=pd_sim_hpc_13?ie=UTF8&refRID=1YRQRVEWNY4V82Q8S5C8
Dat knurl wrecks my hands, so I bought one of these for weekly maintenance. It does a really nice job if you actually remember to use it. Also, lotion.
Back when I used to not telework I would just go down to the lab and help myself to some emery cloth. We stocked everything from 120 to 1200 grit.
get yourself a fingernail kit that has a pumice stone and a contour toe file in it. The contour toe file thing works great for filing callouses smooth.
Actually, a pedi file is fantastic
https://www.amazon.ca/Amope-Pedi-Perfect-Pedicure-Electronic/dp/B00LE99PA2/ref=sr_1_1/159-1768750-2669511?ie=UTF8&qid=1478613896&sr=8-1&keywords=pedi+file
It's those pedo files you gotta watch out for
The Ped Egg, the Pedi Perfect, and the like are way too expensive. I use a Stanley Surform Pocket Plane instead. If you want something that scrapes lighter, a 6 pound bag of Char-Broil Lava Rock is much cheaper than a single Aisilk Earth Lava Pumice Stone.
I've heard that some guitarists also use it to protect their fingertips and you even buy stuff marketed to them: https://www.amazon.com/Rock-Tips-Liquid-Formula-Stringed-Instruments/dp/B008MY3VU2#customerReviews
My soles are horrific, regular manual exfoliation devices or salon pedicures do not touch them.
I use a bladed corn plane, which takes some practice to master. Feet need to be lightly soaked until some of the dead skin softens and goes white, and the blade needs to be pressed parallel to the skin in order to shave the surface without causing a cut.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Manicare-MN341055P-Corn-Plane/dp/B005HH3QNY/
Then follow with regular use of a heel balm containing lanolin (occlusive, strengthens skin's the barrier function) plus a high percentage of urea (25-40%) this is both hydrating and exfoliating. I have tried painting on full strength (88%) lactic acid with a brush and waiting for the skin to peel off in strips but that is still not enough!
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Flexitol-Naturals-Heel-natural-Formula/dp/B004X5IAG4/
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Flexitol-Heel-Balm-Platinum-50g/dp/B00J8F3BQI/
Hands, apply a decent cream containing lanolin and urea (10%) every time you finish in the bathroom; consider what you are soaking your feet in when in the shower and your hands when you wash them. Sulphates and other anionic surfactants (shower gel/ shampoo/ hand wash) are stripping and drying, and damage the skin's barrier function. I carry my own cleanser (actually a small bottle of my shower gel) based on cocoamidopropyl betaine, my cuticles and nails are much improved.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Flexitol-3212891-56g-Hand-Balm/dp/B001PMQ5YC/
I found this thing at Amazon a few months ago, and my feet have never looked better:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00LE99PA2/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Sandbar
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B078RRRRMQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_dYm3AbW61Y6CT
I use a Sandbar.
Please buy this for yourself
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00LE99PA2/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_awdb_cqPmzb9HXH0QE
tried this one not really working
https://www.amazon.com/Amope-Pedi-Perfect-Electronic-Foot/dp/B00LE99PA2/ref=sr_1_5?keywords=hard+skin+feet&qid=1564241168&s=gateway&sr=8-5
http://www.amazon.com/NuSole-Corn-Callus-Razor-Blades/dp/B0006V5M8I
Dude, try aquaphoring your feet and then putting on socks and sleeping with those on over night. If you want to add a little icy hot to that mixture, it's actually quite nice. There's also This We can battle your cracked feet together man, you don't have to face it alone.
I have no idea if this will work or if it is similar to the second skin you referred to but I found this on amazon Rock-Tips – Liquid Callus Formula
I have the same issue. My shoes give me a callous there, so unshod running becomes uncomfortable. I got one of these from amazon and take off callous skin all over my feet:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00XUVKB14/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1
Right uh I don't know what that specifically is but I found a foot-peeler. Basically you soak your feet for like 10 minutes and your feet can be peeled... Like the dry cracked parts. Just be careful not to go to deep or you will bleed something fierce and be forced to make a makeshift bandage sock out of a sanitary pad, paper towel and duct tape. In spite of this mishap I stand by this product wholeheartedly because NOTHING works better
I guess normal people call this a callus remover http://www.amazon.com/Callus-Remover-Cutter-Cuticle-Pedicure/dp/B005IXSVSW
clip then use a callus file to smooth it all out this seriously helps to keep the need to clip down to a minimum.
I have one of these or these (or equivelant) with every pair of nail clippers I have around the house, I would be a bloody mess with out it.
Ohhh this is not AB at all, but I love soaking my feet and then using this crazy thing to shave off all the dead skin: https://www.amazon.com/Dr-Scholls-DreamWalk-Express-Smoother/dp/B011NLQBZW
I used to hate feet so much that I wouldn't even look at my own! Now I'm obsessed.
