One assumes the TV has either an Optical or Coaxial output. There is a slim chance it might have Red/White RCA Output. To make a specific recommendation we would have to know. The most common is an Optical Output. If you can give us the exact brand and model of the TV, we can probably look it up and resolve the issue.

Next, how far to you want to take it and how good do you want it to sound. If you add a Stereo Amp and some decent speakers, it could sound fantastic. Though we get down to how much bass impact you want for movies. Based on a whole lot of assumptions I am making, I suspect a good pair of Bookshelf Speaker would work well.

Then we come to size of the audio system, and the amount of available space. If you have space on each side of the TV, then Bookshelf on Stands could do very nicely. I think with this configuration, you will find a very significant increase in the sound quality over the TV's internal speaker which are near universally trash.

Next if we provide an amp, would you also like to have AM/FM? Either way we can accommodate, but we need to know.

Next, would you like to Stream Music from the Internet; from services like Pandora or Spotify? Again we can go either way on that. We just need to know. But consider that having music streaming gives you near infinite access to all the music ever recorded.

There are other options. For example my BluRay Player has a Network Connection so I can stream movies from Netfilx (and others). But along with Netfilx, Hulu, Amazon,... it also has Pandora and Slacker music streaming services. So, if I want to stream music, I have those options. But there are Amps/Receivers that have Network Streaming built in.

You will need both a Bluetooth Transmitter to come from the Amp, and a Bluetooth Receiver to feed the Headphone Amp which can be placed close to your chair. Then of course, the Headphone Amp will drive Wired Headphones. The Headphone Amp will have its own volume control so you can be louder or quieter than the speakers. In fact, the headphone volume will be completely independent of the Stereo Amp.

So, here are some recommendations -

Avantree Rx/Tx Bluetooth - $50 -

https://www.amazon.com/Avantree-Bluetooth-Transmitter-Headphones-Recording/dp/B076SHF6TF/

These are selectable so either device can be a Transmitter or Receiver.

Here is an Amp with very decent Power and a built in DAC -

Yamaha AS501 85w/ch Integrated Amp with DAC - $550 - black or silver -

https://www.crutchfield.com/p_022AS501B/Yamaha-A-S501-Black.html

https://www.crutchfield.com/p_022AS501S/Yamaha-A-S501-Silver.html

Here are two Yamaha Receivers that have Network Streaming. Though I suspect the Yamaha RN803 is a bit more than you need.

Yamaha RN602 Network Receiver, 80w/ch, AM/FM, etc... - $599 -

https://www.crutchfield.com/p_022RN602/Yamaha-R-N602.html?tp=47041

Currently out of stock at this location, but available from Multiple sources. If nothing else, a simple Amazon search will bring up sources.

Yamaha RN803 Network Receiver, 100w/ch, AM/FM, ... - $749 -

https://www.crutchfield.com/p_022RN803/Yamaha-R-N803.html?tp=47041

The Yamaha RN803 has many advanced features that are to extensive to go in to here, but a trip to the Yamaha Website will provide you will full details on any of these amps.

https://usa.yamaha.com/products/audio_visual/hifi_components/index.html

Both these Yamaha Network Receivers have Bluetooth capability, but I'm not sure if that is Receive-only, or both Transmit and Receive.

Then speakers - How big and How many? I'm assuming TWO speaker for a Stereo system. That's what I use for Movies and Music and it is very satisfying.

Again, you gave no indications of limitations on Cost. So, I'm going to make some assumptions. But, it would be very helpful to know the size of the room the system will be in (dimensions).

Here are modest 5" speakers with a very sweet and mellow sound -

Wharfedale Diamond 220 - $299/pair --

https://www.crutchfield.com/p_336D220RW/Wharfedale-Diamond-220-Rosewood-Quilted.html

Here is one size larger Wharfedale Diamond with a 6.5" bass driver, which is what I would recommend -

Wharfedale Diamond 225 - $399/pair -

https://www.crutchfield.com/p_336D225RW/Wharfedale-Diamond-225-Rosewood-Quilted.html

Here are 5" Klipsch Speakers. The RP-Series are suppose to be very good.

Klipsch Reference Premier RP-150 - $378/pair -

https://www.crutchfield.com/p_714RP150MW/Klipsch-Reference-Premiere-RP-150M-Walnut.html

Here is the same speaker in a 6.5" Version which I would be more inclined to recommend -

Klipsch Reference Premier RP-160 - $550/pair -

https://www.crutchfield.com/p_714RP160MC/Klipsch-Reference-Premiere-RP-160M-Cherry.html

In the same vein, the Monitor Audio Bronze 1 (5") and the Monitor Audio Bronze 2 (6.5") -

Monitor Audio Bronze 1 (5") - $399/pair -

https://www.crutchfield.com/p_893BZ1B/Monitor-Audio-Bronze-1-Black-Oak-Vinyl.html

Monitor Audio Bronze 2 (6.5") - $499/pr -

https://www.crutchfield.com/p_893BZ2B/Monitor-Audio-Bronze-2-Black-Oak-Vinyl.html

From other sources the Monitor Audio are available in Walnut was well as the Black Oak shown. Here is one example -

http://www.audioadvisor.com/prodinfo.asp?number=MRBS2&variation=PWAL

As to headphone amps, this is not an area I have direct experience with but there are many to choose from. Here are a range of possibilities though not all suited to your needs -

https://www.crutchfield.com/g_348950/Headphone-Amps.html?tp=60845

Something like this would cover you needs at a reasonable cost, and it is very compact -

Audioengine D1 DAC/Headphone Amp - $169 -

https://www.crutchfield.com/p_772D1/Audioengine-D1.html?tp=60845

Though there is a very wide range to choose from. Others might have more experience with this.

More than recommendations, I'm simply pointing out possibilities. Trying to establish a perspective. There are more expensive amps and low cost amps, though the Yamaha AS501 and the Yamaha RN602 are good value.

Same with Speakers, we can move up to the Monitor Audio Silver, which are more expensive, or into the Wharfedale REVA line, but I think those suggested represent a good cross section of good quality but very reasonably priced speakers. Still, if that is too steep for you, there are other lower cost speakers available.

Example - http://www.audioadvisor.com/prodinfo.asp?number=MRSIL100&variation=PRNT

That should give you some sense of perspective. You can spend more, you can spend less. The more we know about the size of the room, and the full range of your need, and your budget, the more we can tailor recommendations to suit you.

i use this one https://www.amazon.com/dp/B076HRHT7Y/
also *very* happy with it.

powered by the tv's on/off, no noticeable latency (i even use it with gaming), basically instant boot up & connect, pretty great.

i would say if you're going to be swapping devices all the time the 'single button interface' is a bit goofy. various holds, and multiple taps, to enter pairing mode, connect, deconnect, and reset the dongle (if you want to unpair everything). mostly i have it set up exactly like i like it, and i rarely have the tv active while i'm also using my bt headset with anything else, so i just leave it in auto-connect. fwiw, i also haven't tested the dual output support.

--

while having bt audio from the cc or casting device routing audio separately (synced) would be great (not needing yet more hardware), having bt support on the tv itself means you can use it with non-cast content as well. so that seems like a decent trade, and it's easier to keep in sync with the video...

i would also say i prefer the BT transport to generic RF based 'tv headsets', since you get choice & reuse of your headphones, and won't be SOL when the headset/battery wears out in a couple years.

I have a real soft spot for the elderly. I adore my grandparents so whenever I see an old person that needs help I run to their side and help them any way I can. Most recently, I helped this adorable old lady get to where she was going in the building that I work. She had just had a stroke so she was walking with a cane and needed help getting down a flight of stairs that she didn't expect. I held her hand for support and helped her down the stairs, into the elevator, and to the office that she was going to. I was a few minutes late to work but when I told them what I was doing they forgave me. I work for a senior marketing place so they all have soft spots for the elderly too. =)

I would like this because I'm a mess. THANKS

u/SmittyFjordmanjensen · 2 pointsr/audio

I think the shuffle would be pretty much ideal. It's very easy to use without looking. plus voiceover of track and artist names would be helpful to her.

You could attach it to a bluetooth transmitter like this one and pair it to a set of bluetooth speakers. Then she could sit with the shuffle anywhere.

The only problem is as you pointed out it's kinda small. I'd think the classic iPod clickwheel would be pretty easy to master for a sightless person (I can use mine in the dark just from years of experience). It's a bigger control, it might be just right. You could get a 30-pin transmitter and do the same thing.

One thing to consider is Bluetooth devices sometimes un-pair, and you'd have to explain how to deal with that- and probably expect a follow-up call until she's memorized it. As long as you just press a single button to pair (many speakers are like that), it should be a simple procedure for her, though.

u/burkjavier · 3 pointsr/Zune

Receivers are pretty cheap, but the Zune needs a transmitter which is usually in the $20 to $35 range. I actually have this one as I like the compact nature of it : https://www.amazon.com/Alead-TxPro-Bluetooth-Multilink-Transmitter/dp/B076FLGQ7R

Keep in mind that YMMV on how well it works. I can get the above item, for example, to work with BT speakers and headphones but it refuses to work in my car. That's really not the fault of the device however as my car's BT is pretty finicky in what it will support.

u/illymays · 1 pointr/vinyl

Okay, last question lol. Becuase I'm tight on budget, the A2+ might be my best bet right now. If I go with that and buy a Bluetooth receiver, would any of the following suffice?

u/mikredditor · 1 pointr/cars

I highly suggest you get one of these. I had a shit one before that was battery powered. It had no power, and was very staticky. After looking online, many other companies use this design. It had good reviews too. It's CD quality on the right station. It finds the best station too, which is very useful when traveling long distances. Best of all, it's only $9. I'd give this a try before replacing the radio. I was going to, even though my dash looks like this. My mom loves the one I bought for her too.

Nulaxy 2017 Wireless In-Car Bluetooth FM Transmitter Radio Adapter Car Kit
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074Y11C8B?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf

I have had this for 4 months now and I fucking love it. I’m telling you, this thing is all you need. I have a 2005 hatchback and was in the same situation. Researched for quite a bit, this is the simplest solution, and for the price it is excellent.

u/AlabamaPanda777 · 1 pointr/BudgetAudiophile

To connect this turntable to a bluetooth speaker you have two options.

  • If the bluetooth speaker has an aux cord input, which I think is pretty common, you can just plug it up that way. You just need a female RCA to male 3.5mm converter. See this. $3.
  • You could purchase a bluetooth transmitter for the turntable. You would buy something like this transmitter and then this cable to connect it, and for a total of around $23 you could pair the speakers to this device on the turntable and wirelessly connect them. Hopefully. Devices like this can be unreliable, and I am not vouching for the bluetooth transmitter I've linked here.
u/CompleteMCNoob · 2 pointsr/jailbreak

Best option:
https://www.amazon.com/Monoprice-109722-Bluetooth-Transmitter-Splitter/dp/B00AJHAYCS

Technical limitations of bluetooth only allow one device of a kind to connect to another device.
Ex. A mac can't use 2 bluetooth keyboards.

EDIT: Free option to do this(requires multiple phones though.) AmpMe

u/Jerdos93 · 1 pointr/airpods

I got a cheap and easy TRANSMITTER from Aukey via Amazon that set up pretty easily with AirPods: AUKEY Bluetooth Transmitter, Wireless Stereo Music Adapter with A2DP for Cell Phones, TV, PC, iPod & other 3.5mm Audio Devices https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00PI62YVO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_kaGazbTC11XKV

u/FL-Orange · 1 pointr/kia

I use an Mpow adapter that plugs into the jack in the stereo of my wife's SUV. Works pretty good for music. Phone calls are OK, not as good as a built in unit though. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ML5GP72/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_U_TwnNDbNN1QHD2

u/drwtsn32 · 1 pointr/shutupandtakemymoney

I use this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00I4WYXAO

It's more expensive but doesn't require any batteries. I love using BT->AUX adapters because I don't have to plug anything in when I get into the car. My phone auto connects and I could configure it to start playing automatically. I have it configured to stop playing audio when BT disconnects (when I turn off my car).

u/BadSport340 · 1 pointr/technology

I'm pretty unhappy that they killed the 3.5mm headphone jack, but it is what it is. I don't plan on buying an iPhone 7, I'll stick with my 6+.

As for the car listening/charging situation, I have a solution for you. Get a Bluetooth to auxiliary adapter. I've got this one and it's worked great for the past two years: https://www.amazon.com/Rockford-RFBTAUX-Universal-Bluetooth-Streaming/dp/B00I4WYXAO

u/knotchew · 2 pointsr/linuxquestions

Yeah, this one seems like a better option

u/bearxor · 4 pointsr/iphone

Normally I would not recommend these for car installations because they need to be charged and all of them I have used do not work while charging. Meaning you can't have a "permenant" installation because you would need to disconnect it from power before the unit will actually kick on.

But if you move in to and out of cars for work purposes then this will be really handy.

If you want a more permenant setup that uses Bluetooth, I have this and it works great:

https://www.amazon.com/Rockford-RFBTAUX-Universal-Bluetooth-Streaming/dp/B00I4WYXAO

Griffin also makes a similar one:

https://www.amazon.com/Griffin-Technology-BlueTrip-iPhone-Smartphones/dp/B004KPLS7K

If you'd prefer to have the lightning cable take care of the audio transmission, then preorder this one:

http://www.scosche.com/iphone-7-car-charger

u/babydickonboard · 1 pointr/howto

I had to remove a broken off tip from an rca jack on a stereo the other day. Tried drilling into it and super glue, no dice. It was way easier for me to just open the whole unit up and push it out from the inside, alot of the time the jacks arn't sealed so you can just push it out from the inside.

If your head unit doesn't have the ability to receive blutooth signal, and has another audio input on the back, you could always hook one of these up bluetooth reciever, I just got some the other day and they sound great and are cheap. Runs off 5v. May need a ground loop isolater if you getting a bunch of noise.

u/Makegooduseof · 3 pointsr/ipod

As annoying as the floppy dongle would be, the 3.5mm solution is the most reliable one out there.

There are some models that, while they still stick out like a sore thumb, try to keep the package as compact as possible. Here’s one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00IQYC4R4/ref=psdcmw_9926003011_t1_B01KXIKCSI

This one has mostly positive reviews: https://www.amazon.com/KOKKIA-i10s-Black-Bluetooth-Transmitter/dp/B004SH40BQ/ref=pd_aw_sim_sbs_23_2?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=50TFZDWSC8SFYH43CC3B

This one supports aptX if you have compatible Bluetooth headphones: https://www.amazon.com/KOKKIA-Luxurious-Transmitter-authentication-receivers/dp/B008PWN0I4/ref=pd_aw_sim_sbs_107_3?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=K15NQ502M06MZ4H9Y23F

u/wwwredditcom · 1 pointr/AskElectronics

The audio amplifiers in both sets are most likely sized just enough to drive their connected speakers close to the maximum power. I.e. replacing the audio amplifier with a more powerful amp will probably not deliver more output at an appreciable quality.

For Bluetooth connectivity you can get an audio module similar to this and connect the audio module output to the spekars input. Throw in a good quality USB AC adapter into the enclosure to power the audio module.

u/Bribase · 2 pointsr/IpodClassic

Headphones.

AIAIAI TMA-2 with an over ear, less clinical, more musical configuration. Using a Bluetooth headband and a KOKKIA i10s transmitter.

The headphones sound great but the KOKKIA is not a very reliable bluetooth solution. I'm planning on doing an internal bluetooth mod once I've found the right transmitter to use.

The thing about Twelve South stuff, and I say this as an Apple fanboy, is that it’s too fucking expensive unless they designed it. Stuff they design is often really nice and arguably worth it.

But this isn’t one of those things. Look up mpow, taotronics, or trent Bluetooth transmitter on Amazon and you’ll find literally the same product for 1/2 to 2/3 the price, and actual specs like aptx/LL or Bluetooth 4.x, etc. It’ll just be black instead of white.

Edit: for example

I use my AirPods with those (I’ve tried all three mentioned, like the newest taotronics transceiver best as it’s slightly smaller than the others) and they work fine. There’s very little chance they’d work better with the Twelve South piece.

Also worth noting that the AirPods don’t support low-latency Bluetooth and will lag behind the video about a quarter second.

This doesn’t bug me for most games but can be problematic on twitch games with sound cues, and can be quite noticeable as a lip sync issue in cutscenes. I generally only use this setup with my 3ds or switch so I don’t have to carry an extra set of headphones.

u/sequentious · 1 pointr/audio

Why not skip the macbook entirely with something like this or this? There's plenty of toslink-to-bluetooth adapters on amazon, and that should provide better latency.

If you still need Mini Toslink (not sure which xbox you have, and I'm not familiar with any of them), but you could always get an adapter.

u/antdroidx · 2 pointsr/headphones

Actually a Sony receiver can transmit LDAC but that's a bit much for a PC maybe?

If your computer doesnt have bluetooth built-in, you can use any bluetooth transmitter really. Something like this: https://www.amazon.com/MEE-audio-DualStream-Transmitter-technology/dp/B077YGDCRQ/ref=sr_1_8_sspa?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1535938845&sr=1-8-spons&keywords=LDAC+transmitter&psc=1

u/tafluhr · 2 pointsr/Acura

I've had my TL-S for almost two years and probably used the HFL <10 times. The cost of replacing the box depends on how much you use the phone in the car.

u/chasemeee · 0 pointsr/amazonecho

no. not possible right now :( that's where google home is superior.

for wired you could just buy an adapter where it splits 1-2 then use those 2, and split to 4

for bluetooth you could: https://www.amazon.com/Monoprice-109722-Bluetooth-Transmitter-Splitter/dp/B00AJHAYCS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1481661487&sr=8-1&keywords=monoprice+bluetooth+splitter

which works great too

u/aka_chela · 1 pointr/MINI

I just bought this for my aux cord and it works great, if you don't want to mess around with the internal wiring. Only downside is that you can't use the steering wheel/radio controls to change songs. https://www.amazon.com/Aluratek-Bluetooth-Audio-Receiver-iPhone/dp/B00CG5EH7E

u/fntigre · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

These are good headsets for the price (they always go on sale):
https://www.amazon.com/Avantree-Wireless-Bluetooth-Foldable-Headphones/dp/B01A0EAYDI

And this Bluetooth adapter has worked well for me (with tolerable lag) and is “form fitting” for the switch. Although it has some low reviews due to ease of use issues; I had no issue getting it to work:
https://www.amazon.com/KOKKIA-iSPLITTER-black-MULTI-STREAMING-Transmitter/dp/B00IQYC4R4

u/Dirt_E_Harry · 0 pointsr/mildlyinteresting

You are better off with this. It works with AUX or one of the unused FM frequencies in your radio.

u/DarkMain · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

I'm going to assume that because you talk about Bluetooth audio that your wireless headphones are also Bluetooth.

If that is the case you can pick up something like this...

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073XYXVZL?ref_=Oct_CARAsinC_9926003011_1

Plug it directly into the Switch, or into the TV pass through and then pair your headphones to it.

Also I think you can also just buy a iPhone 30-pin dock Bluetooth adapter like this for it to work

https://www.amazon.com/Aluratek-Bluetooth-Audio-Receiver-iPhone/dp/B00CG5EH7E

u/nekonari · 1 pointr/iphone

So, if I were to get a Bluetooth dongle, like this one, this feature probably won't work.. will it?

u/lazyshoegazer · 2 pointsr/answers

Maybe try a 30pin bluetooth adapter? like this: https://www.amazon.com/Aluratek-Bluetooth-Audio-Receiver-iPhone/dp/B00CG5EH7E

I got one off of Meh.com a few weeks ago to get my old stereo in my workshop to work with my android phone and it works well. There are probably ones that directly work with microusb, but since this was on sale and I use it for a stereo that is old, it worked for my purposes.

Did not know about Apple dropping support for the Accessory Protocol, that's a bummer.

However, wouldn't something like this https://www.amazon.ca/Aluratek-Bluetooth-Audio-Receiver-iPhone/dp/B00CG5EH7E work for the OP? I've seen something like this being used on an older Dension Gateway iPod adapter which used the 30 pin connection.

I've never used this, but it seems to have that feature: UGREEN Bluetooth 4.2 Transmitter Wireless Audio Adapter. The product description says it is USB-powered, and in the Amazon questions section, someone asked about the feature and others answered yes. A bit expensive at ~$36, though.

I sometimes use a Bluetooth transmitter plugged into my old TV, but more modern TVs can directly pair with Bluetooth headphones

If your headphones support low latency AptX, try to get a transmitter also compatible.

Oh yeah, Bluetooth transmitters that work with any Bluetooth device exist in abundance.

This should work for you, and it does aptX Low Latency if you have compatible headphones: http://www.amazon.com/Aukey-Bluetooth-Transmitter-Technology-BT-C1/dp/B00PI62YVO/

I use this and I love it so far. Gives you Bluetooth and with the extra USB you can charge at the same time from the same plug. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00I4WYXAO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

You may want to consider a headphone and transmitter that are both APTX (or APTX-LL) compatible to avoid latency issues with voices matches lips when watching media.

Consider the Plantronics BackBeat Pro 2 ($160 sale on Amazon.ca) or a cheaper APTX-LL headphone paired with the Avantree Leaf USB transmitter or the UGREEN Bluetooth 4.2 Transmitter Wireless Audio Adapter depending on your other devices in your media center.
