24. Reflexite REF-DB Retroreflective V92 Daybright Tape: 1 in. x 15 ft. (Silver-White) by Reflexite

    Features:
  • Oralite V92 Daybright Colors Microprismatic Retroreflective Conspicuity Tape is prismatic conspicuity material available in a variety of colors including red, white, blue, green, orange and gold. Photos of V92-DB are taken with a flash camera in order to show the reflectivity of the tape; the colors of the tape will be much darker if a high-intensity light source (like the flash from a camera or car headlights) are not being directed at the tape.
  • Oralite is the Oracal Group's new brand name for Reflexite. The thin, flexible sheeting has a unique appearance featuring a printed triangular white line pattern. V92 Daybright Colors will enhance the visibility of any police, fire or EMS vehicle. It provides superior visibility and conspicuity to oncoming motorists which results in improved safety and image.
  • UV and solvent resistant coatings ensure durability which allows for rugged outdoor use on the sides and rear of tow trucks, trailers, school buses, farm equipment, automobiles and all types of mobile and industrial equipment. Aggressive pressure-sensitive adhesive backing designed for rigid metal substrates.
  • The tape is weather-resistant and has a 5-year warranty. Maintains reflectivity after impact. Conspicuity-grade material like this is typically 6 or 7 times more reflective than a comparable color in an engineering-grade reflective tape since prism technology is used instead of glass beads so you would be able to see it from much farther distances away.
  • Standards Met: LS-300C section 3.6.7; ASTM D4956; complies with European RoHS directive 2002/95/EC. Carrier/Backing: enclosed lens retroreflective urethane film. Adhesive: acrylic. Release Liner: paper. Thickness: 8 mils (carrier, adhesive). Application Temperature: 50F to 100F. Core: 3-inch diameter.

I do not think leds are practical for sockets. I'v used glow in the dark paint (search term: photoluminescent) on various things. I had to buy the expensive stuff you probably won't find in stores, and the bottles are bright enough to navigate a messy room or even read by. I could imagine a small groove near the base of the socket fitted with a plastic glow ring.

I'm thinking the most reasonable product would be a thin strip of Micro Prismatic Reflective tape sold to customers who apply it to their own sockets. 3m makes some of the highest rated on amazon and I'm guessing you could find a durable tape with a strong adhesive.

You would have to have a flashlight, which I'm guessing someone who would need a solution to this problem is going to have. It would be about as bright as a white reflective traffic sign, but I think the 3m stuff is brighter.

The benefits would be no need for expensive design/manufacturing, customers who prefer high end snap-on stuff or others with harbor freight can both use them and you don't have to worry about precision manufacturing. Its a simple and inexpensive product, easy to package and market. You could also sell as multi purpose to put on tools and whatever else people drop in the dark. Just wanna make it possible to apply the tape without covering the size markings on the socket.

That being said the very brightest glow in the dark stuff is really cool I'v put on everything. I painted the back of my laptop so when the lights are of there's a little design on it. Put some on flashlights so i can find them in the dark. Fully charged it is about as bright as a glow stick. You can get various colors but due to some kinda limitation green can be made quite a bit brighter than other colors and lasts longer also (technically 24 hr. but probably only several hours being pretty bright).

Ohh, if anyone buys some from the link I just gave you ya might wanna get the oil or solvent based paints depending on what you will use it for. The water based dries a little rubbery and needs a certain type of surface to stick well (no smooth metal). You could get the pure pigment (it's like fairy dust) and mix it with clear high strenth glue (i think many epoxys absorb UV so they may not work well). Also applying fingernail polish or a clear gloss on top will protect it and smooth out the surface, the brightest pigments use larger (crystals?) and almost feels like sand mixed with paint.

I wouldn't bother with biners, but for more expensive stuff a little strip of orange gaffer tape works well, and has a bunch of advantages:

  1. It's removable and won't leave any sticky residue...but thieves probably won't know that (it looks just like regular cloth tape) so they may not try to remove it
  2. Despite #1 it's very sticky and I've never had any come off unless I wanted it to, long as you tape it onto a clean and reasonably smooth surface.
  3. If you pick a bright color it's easily visible from a distance (unlike engraving or that kind of thing)
  4. You can write on the tape (for example, name and address to return lost gear)
  5. If you really want to get funky you can create designs/patterns to make your stuff even more easily identifiable

I started doing this with my camera gear because when I'd be doing freelance shoots as part of a team, other people would have the same bodies and/or lenses and when you're switching lenses around and stuff it's easy to lose track of whose is whose if they're not marked. But then I realized it would work well for basically anything, and now I use it for everything.

For example, I really like it for luggage at the airport. Basically everyone has similar looking gray or black luggage, so it'd be easy for someone to grab yours at the carousel and walk away (intentionally or by accident) before you even notice. But put some big-ass orange Xs on that same luggage with tape and it stands out and becomes easy to spot.

I have quite a bit of experience with retroreflective material. You don't need to worry about IR wavelengths as all visible light retroreflectors (generally beads or corner cubes) will work (almost) just as well for near infrared wavelengths. You can buy some paints that have some retroreflective beads in it, but they're not remotely strong enough to really do what you want. Most of the beads are totally coated with paint, so you end up with really poor coverage. You could buy some retroreflective beads and glue them onto your arrows (lying right at the surface of the glue), but unless you did a lot of experimentation, I'm guessing the durability would be really disappointing. The absolute best retroreflectors are corner cubes, but they need an air gap meaning that small regions have to be sealed all the way around the edges to prevent water ingress. It's not impossible, but again, you'll be fiddling with details that you shouldn't have to.Here's an example of this product. https://www.amazon.com/TapeCase-3430-0-5in-White-Reflective/dp/B007Y7I1LWNote the grey pattern that seals the shiny regions to keep water out. Everywhere you cut the seal, water will defeat the reflectivity. What you really want is a beaded retroreflector, preferably with a silver backing to increase the reflection. Look for a uniform look (with no seal pattern). You can get different colors, but white will always reflect most strongly (and avoid blue and green for sure if you want to use IR)

https://www.amazon.com/3M-Scotchlite-Reflective-Silver-36-Inch/dp/B000BQSY6K

Even the smallest sliver of this tape will reflect back to the light's source, although I don't know if this particular tape is thin enough and the adhesive strong enough to really pull down on a tightly curved shaft. Honestly, I'd stick it down with some epoxy or superglue if it didn't obviously conform.

I've had some of this tape (or a similar beaded version) on my bicycling shoes for years. Bits have rubbed off and it looks ragged since I heavily use the toes and heals to push and pull on things, but I've been really impressed that where I didn't actually rub it, it has stayed on.

FULL DISCLOSURE -- I work for 3M. I don't get paid to post on social media, but I am required to disclose my employment when I discuss 3M products so here's my 3M throwaway. There are other 3M and non 3M retroreflective options out there you should consider. I honestly just picked the first two products on Amazon that showed up on my Google search (and to be fair, my Google search probably knows I sometimes look for 3M products).

[EDIT] One more note -- using IR is really weird in this application. Retroreflective material will shoot light back at the source, so it'll flash brightly whether you're using IR or visible light. Honestly, unless you're being chased by zombies, I'd just use a bright flashlight to look for things tagged with retroreflective material. If you don't have a ridiculously powerful flashlight powered by lithium ion cells, go over to /r/flashlight and they'll sort you out.

It is a good idea in general to open things up and clean them if you spill stuff into them. However, I would look up some youtube videos of people working on your particular model. I haven't opened a MacBook in years, but some laptops can be a real pain. You'll want to make sure you have the right tools and a backup computer in case things go south and you have to take it in somewhere. Definitely back up your data if you can.

As far ESD stuff, you can buy a wrist strap and mat on Amazon for about $25.

http://www.amazon.com/Velleman-AS9-Anti-Static-Field-Service/dp/B004XZQ30Y

Plug the mat into the third prong of a grounded outlet. Then set the laptop on the mat and put on the wrist strap. After you open the laptop, be sure to touch an exposed metal screw in there or the metal case before starting work. This will ensure the laptop is at ground potential. When you pull the motherboard or any components from the laptop, set them on the mat.

You can clean the laptop with isopropyl alcohol and or distilled water. Alcohol is nice because it dries fast. Just get in there with some q-tips and start scrubbing. Of course, not too hard. The tiny surface mount components can come off if you press too hard or if they're corroded. Just make sure that if something does break loose, you know exactly where it came from. One good trick for gently cleaning big messes is to dump a good bit of alcohol on the board, then spray it off with a can of air. Just be careful to keep from getting any microphones or speakers wet. It's also not good to leave a board wet for too long. They can warp.

I do a lot of dog sitting and one of the best solutions I've seen is anti-slip tape to put at the edge of each step.
There are tons of options, but this one seems to be the cheapest.

Tape: https://www.amazon.com/White-Clear-Anti-Slip-Safety/dp/B00MI8B8K8

Also, a baby gate for when you're not home may come in handy. Just an extra step to make sure your pup stays safe and happy :)

u/DOZENS_OF_BUTTS · 5 pointsr/Gangstalking

I'm not a targeted individual, and frankly I don't think you are either, but I'll proceed in giving you the benefit of the doubt anyway.

First, you need undeniable physical evidence. Get a Geiger counter (you can find a relatively cheap and well-reviewed one on Amazon here) and read up on the measurements that a Geiger counter will give you with this chart. If the radiation is causing you significant physical harm like you've described then it is likely ionizing radiation, which a Geiger counter can accurately measure.

Your references towards being affected by electrical appliances sound more like elecromagnetic radiation though, which is quite different from ionizing radiation. A device like this can be used to measure ambient EMF radiation. Again, make video documentation to prove that you're being exposed to extremely high levels of it.

If you're concerned about the possibility of your video evidence being tampered with, as many TIs seem to be, you can upload that video evidence to a storage medium such as FreeNet (/r/freenet), which will split the video file into many, many pieces and distribute them to thousands of volunteers worldwide so that the original file can be retrieved later. The data in the pieces that are distributed to the volunteers is encrypted so they won't know what they're holding on to for you, so even if they were complicit in the alleged gang stalking they wouldn't know that you (as the uploader) were someone they needed to fuck with. (This is, of course, a very brief explanation of the inner workings of FreeNet which leaves a lot out, but you get the gist of it.)

Now for the suggestion you're not going to like. See a mental health specialist. If you're correct, and you have the evidence to back it up, you can get yourself a clean bill of mental health that you can present at future court proceedings to help validate the fact that there is a grand conspiracy against you. And if you're not correct, and you are mentally ill, you can get help.

You should travel a considerable distance from where you live to contact the mental health professional, because the conspiracy against you is certainly localized to some degree. However unlikely, it is possible to buy out local mental health professionals, but it is simply not feasible to buy out every mental health professional in the entire country on the off chance that they might have one particular person come in that they need to conspire against. You aren't a rambling nut job, so I am confident that you will agree that it's astronomically unlikely that a conspiracy against you would span more than a small network of a few towns. With this in mind, seeing a somewhat distant mental health professional seems like a logical option in a plan to fight this attack on you.

If you need any more guidance beyond what I've already typed up, just ask and I'll help you as much as I can.

Great list! Adding QOL/bling improvements to games is definitely one of my favorite aspects of the hobby.

Some of my personal favorite add-ons:

  • Vinyl tape: Reusable, cheap, adds zero bulk to stacks of cards. (Edit: Damn, when I bought the tape it was $3.94. Now it's $10.13. But there are 1.5" rolls from the same manufacturer for $3.29)

  • Uberstax: Highly customizable modular plastic pieces especially useful for large hands of cards (Gloomhaven) and card markets (Argent: The Consortium). Not cheap though.

  • Stickers: Building on a post here a long time ago where winners would sign the box lids, we started buying stickers to go alongside the signatures.
u/sdphoto35 · 4 pointsr/Bushcraft

Just learned a great trick not to long ago. Putting some reflective tape will help you find things even in daylight and work amazing at night in camp. Helped me find my knife already and I put some on my tarp lines so I don't trip on them after a late night bathroom break. Got mine at the auto store.

u/BranWafr · 7 pointsr/Parenting

Duct Strap, Hanger Strap, Plumbers tape. It goes by many names, but roughly the same thing. You can get it in plastic or metal for pretty cheap. I always have a roll or two on hand.

u/fidelitypdx · 3 pointsr/HomeImprovement

To divide the area between my porch and my neighbor's porch I installed a plant trellis.

Basically, using cheap emt conduit a few connectors, and nylon trellis, I was able to construct a trellis that plants could easily grow on. I grow hops, peas, and achocha on it. It doesn't create total privacy, but it allows me to grow some useful edibles for 2/3rds of the year. The plants are grown in large pots (20 gallon). I secured the whole trellis to rails using plumbers tape and a couple screws and bolts.

The trellis system is cheap, the potted plants, pots, and soil is where it will get expensive. So, if you want to invest in gardening or growing your own food, this is a good start.

Do more expensive ESD bands mean more protection over a cheaper one or are they all the same? How much does a $1 ESD wrist wrap vary from a $5 band or even a $85 strap? Will the $5 wrap have added protection than the $1 band or is $85 the best choice? I have never purchased a ESD band so I don't know what to get. Thanks!

u/reimannk · 3 pointsr/BuyItForLife

This gas can is way better. Great gift for my dad who was always complaining about not being able to find a decent gas can anymore.

u/bike_lane_bill · 4 pointsr/bikecommuting

It is super reflective! It lights up like crazy under headlights. I ride with a backpack covered in MOLLE loops and wrap the tape around all of them, so from behind I am blinding.

Here's the stuff!

Oralite (Reflexite) V98... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0041PCG2A?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Also, it is pretty flexible tape but you will still wanna cover it in a layer of clear packing tape just to tack it down firmly.

u/neuquino · 14 pointsr/DIY

It's easy enough to add some grip tape near the nose of each stair. It gives much better traction when you're in socks, and it makes it easier to see the edge of each step.

Dry Vinyl Tape is the thing.
+Generally more cost effective that Hugo's (currently $3.18 for 100ft of 1.5inch)
+Doesn't look so weird in your search history
-it is slightly thinner than Hugo's, but plenty strong and I haven't found it to be an issue
-minimal color selection (i.e. only black)

Wool blanket: it can double as a groundsheet. Or tarp. Or both.

I'd say swap out the wave for something cheaper, but you have actual cash in there, I guess you're pretty set.

Tourniquet.

Duct tape. Paracord. Flagging tape.

Shovel? Do you even get snow in the South???

u/mechiah · 1 pointr/computertechs

The first one assumes you'll attach a grounding wire to it (you'll see rolls of this stuff for covering spaces of different sizes, add your own ground). The second one includes it.

This on Amazon check out Bertech, though I just saw this one and it looks like a neat starter, especially if you're in the field.

Looks like modern high performance reflective tape on flat front glasses. I wonder how well it would work with some Reflexite on wayfarers or something like this.

I second buying cones. I bought some off Amazon for practicing with my daughter.

They are under $12 each and work great (and now covered in tire marks).

u/Broken_S_Key · 2 pointsr/longboarding

I have a zefal bike light attached to my backpack like so.

I was also going to get this reflective tape the other day to line the bottom of my helmet in, but then I decided that being able to go incagnito incognito (downtown chicago at night; cops and thugs) if I need to is better and that the light is enough for now.

Here's a few options.

https://www.amazon.com/Yacker-Tracker-Noise-Detector-5-5/dp/B001AZ2O2Q This can be used inside if they only need a gentle reminder.

Otherwise you can set up a camera to notify or text a certain number when it gets too loud and use that. You'll need to test the sensitivity.

Or you can use this baby. https://convergenceinstruments.com/product/noise-sentry-rt-wireless-network/

There are some nice metal jerry cans out there, but people often complain about the plastic spouts they include. Folks on Amazon seem quite pleased with this one by Eagle.

I've noticed that before, I believe it's the edge of the pit and they were trying to make the outer lip of a salvage drum top look like bone. This is photo of a salvage drum and its outer plastic lip can be seen along its metal ring:

https://www.amazon.com/Eagle-1654-Blow-Molded-Lever-Lock-Capacity/dp/B000LDEP0C

More of the lip section is shown from 10:40 to 11:00 and then from 11:09 to 11:14. The melted plastic can be seen on the lower piece from 11:20 to 11:24 then again 11:31. At 11:31, inside the lipped section, the raised support sections are visible. If you look to the right side of Exhibit 175, to the left of the wire pile & seat remains, you'll find the outer metal ring of the drum:

You want a noise monitor. I’ve seen pictures of this being used in a library to help with noise levels. I’d search on Amazon for “noise monitor” and go from there if that one is too expensive for you.

Spray & Forget moss removal should take care of the slipperyness and the Gator Grip Traction sticks very well. I've used both on outdoor deck stairs and haven't had them un-stick over the passing of a few years.

Ya it's pretty thin for most dust collection. You could always buy the galvanized metal can which would be beefy and not too expensive. There's a HDPE one I bought which is around $35 on Amazon but is probably like x5 the thickness and no issue with the 3HP DC system. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000LDEP0C/

As someone with bunk beds and young kids, I recommend you put some anti-slip grip tape on that ladder. Especially with a 3 year old using it. One of my kids slipped on a smooth ladder like that and smashed his face on a rung, require a midnight trip to the ER and stitches inside his mouth. Lots of blood... it was a horrible night.

Also, make sure the kids can't remove the ladder.

I haven't run into that problem with my platform yet, but it's possible that you could get a stair traction strip like this and put on the surface of the platform under where your feet would normally go.

Another possibility would be to use some type of wood stair/sealer and mix in a small amount of fine grain sand with it to give the platform some texture? I'd lean more towards the first option though.

The guy who started this whole "radiation isn't dangerous" thing died from leukemia.

There are also many many many well documented cases of people dying quite quickly from radiation poisoning. http://listverse.com/2010/03/25/10-famous-incidences-of-death-by-radiation/

The guy in this video is also using EXTREMELY low radiation exposure. Check this out https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sievert#Dose_examples

So his meter is measuring in microseiverts. source

The "extremely radioactive" rock that he shows is his most powerful is less radioactive than the ambient radiation you get while flying in a commerical ariliner. Less radioactive than getting a mammogram.

His "most powerful" radiation stone is about 1/500th of the recommended occupational limit as set by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. here

TL;DR- Scam artist or bozo, I don't know, but this dude is completely 100% full of shit.

It fucks up the aesthetics, adds weight and anything screwed on can rattle or come off. Especially when you ride a road bike with high tyre pressure on cobblestones.

That's why I replaced my reflectors with reflective tape. Especially the 3M foil is more visible than the typical plastic reflectors.

Practically no weight, won't come off and doesn't look as messy. There's even tape that's black in diffuse light. However, the reflection angle of that is very narrow. So it's a questionable compromise.
