While I don't know how he's building these, I'd use this nerf gun as a base for the mod.

http://www.amazon.com/Rapid-Western-Rifle-darts-shells/dp/B000GL1OL2

The main mechanical modification is going to be a method of making it reload the spring/rubber band. After that you'd just have to make an outer shell that would look good.

280 plus shipping is a lot of money, but it looks pretty good. I'd be more interested in trying to build one myself for fun than buying something though. My favorite part of warhammer has always been the modeling anyway.

edit: just found this:
http://www.amazon.com/Lanard-Shell-Shock-Ammo-Clip/dp/B001UE875K/ref=sr_1_14?ie=UTF8&qid=1317913452&sr=8-14

Which looks like an even easier mod. It looks like a boltgun almost already.

If you mean these, I have no info on them, but they seem like they might work: http://histfenc.us/productcart/kids-training-sword-long

If you mean these, I have only ever heard that these are more like gekken-style tools than anything else, and could maaaaybe concuss someone with a good windup: http://histfenc.us/productcart/training-sword-with-crossguard-long

For what it's worth, I somehow wound up with a pair of these in my closet, which are pretty fun as boffers go, and they've held up pretty well over the years: https://smile.amazon.com/Toysmith-Mashoonga-Foam-Warrior-Sabers/dp/B00HV0L8BC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1524512325&sr=8-1&keywords=mashoonga

They don't shoot very hard, but that frisbee effect does make them fly pretty dang far for their low velocity.
When your boy learns how to bounce the discs off the walls you'll never be safe in cover again.
Also vortex has been around for years so can often be found second hand for cheap. Pyragon is super easy to prime and if you give it a 10disc stick mag instead of the drum it's light enough for a younger kid to enjoy. I saw a bunch of those 10disc stick mags on amazon.co.uk not too long ago for pretty cheap.

Edit: not the one I was looking for, but still ok; https://www.amazon.co.uk/Nerf-Vortex-Disc-Ammo-Magazine/dp/B0058CT2JK/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=Nerf+vortex+magazine&qid=1564694735&s=gateway&sr=8-1

Edit2: found one for you on gumtree, with the drum and bunch of discs; https://www.gumtree.com/p/other-outdoor-toys/nerf-vortex-pyragon-blaster-gun-holds-40-discs/1345939798

Thanks, you’ve been infinitely helpful on this r. It does take a while to load the rocket rounds

Originally this was run off a 12 g co2 cartridge that would dump everything with a ball valve and it didn’t explode, I think I read those are 800psi, but we’re talking co2 with expansion and hpa, (potatoes and papayas) I’ll be sure to start wit 50psi and work my way up, but with co2 it would go close to 200 ft. Recharging was just a pain with that system and if you didn’t hit it right, it wouldn’t work at all.

I play airsoft on sundays and I always have a hpa tank on my back so I figured it be best to have a line out the back, all I have to do is disconnect my primary, connect to rpg, load rpg and fire.

It also makes the rpg inert while it’s sitting so some kid doesn’t walk up playing with it and it goes off. (My idea of a failsafe) but I may try and put the dump tank inside somewhere)

Thanks again for your help and confirming I’m FINALLY ON THE WAY to getting this thing done, correctly this time.

Edit: these footballs fit perfectly in a 2” pipe without “stuffing them in”

They kinda slide down like it’s forming pressure slightly behind them. It’s very satisfying actually to load, but it’s not like a potato gun where it’s vacuum packed...

u/DialUpCaterpillar · 5 pointsr/santashelpers

I feel like Legos might also be a good idea: Mario Kart Lego. Once the car is built, you pull back to wind up. It's not that many pieces, so it shouldn't be too complicated (and it's relatively cheap, yay!).

Stomp Rocket also seems like good outdoor fun: here.

Also, this baseball tee: here.

Hope this helps!

u/BlameMabel · 4 pointsr/Basketball

The Little Tikes one of these is the shit. Somehow the balls have a great feel (both shooting and dribbling) and the net gives a satisfying swish. If you have little ones you need one of these. Absolutely my favorite baby toy, plus my two year old is working on her handles.

u/ihcun · 3 pointsr/Parenting

My first thought was finding some productive outlets to help him understand what's OK to hit/throw, and what's not OK to hit/throw (i.e. baby gate in the house, etc, and it never being ok to throw inside the house)

Ideas include:

T-Ball Set

Unintentionally slightly phallic bopper thing

Froggy Toss

Velcro Toss/Catch

Indoor Bowling Set

And so on. Destructive kids are no fun, but as an adult female, I love the release that comes from throwing things and sometimes hitting things as hard as I can. As long as there's a distinction between when and where these things can happen, my personal opinion is that it's a good and normal thing.

u/Cosmic_Cowboy2 · 1 pointr/wma

I've gotten a lot of use out of Mashoonga Foam Warrior Sabers. $35 for a pair, and they'll last for at least a couple years of regular use as long as you don't cook them in your car a couple times like I did. :/

They're just a materials upgrade of the classic pool noodle/duct tape toys, so no crossguard, pommel, or edge to speak of, but the balance and weight are great for kids and the handle is long enough that I can do longsword grips on an imaginary pommel. Normally, though, I use them 1h as sabers or arming swords.

The biggest sell is that they have excellent shock absorption; I once saw a dad sucker-smack his 12yo son across the forehead with one of these. About the funniest thing I've ever seen, since the kid's expression was 100% bewildered humor and 0% pain. Also, try as you might, you'll never hit anything hard enough to put a bend in the core.

u/PhyscoCat · 1 pointr/airsoft

Realism isn't important to me, I just want something that works for me and my friends when we go to our local field.

Ideally, I would be able to unplug my P* and plug the hose into the launcher and launch form that. So would the regulator on my tank be enough? I would prefer the valve to be mechanical, I'm looking for something that I can more or less slap together with minimal work. And for the ammo, I was looking to shoot something like [this] (http://www.amazon.com/Nerf-N-Sports-Vortex-Howler-Football/dp/B00A8VJB2O/ref=sr_1_26?s=toys-and-games&ie=UTF8&qid=1462922548&sr=1-26&keywords=nerf+rocket), but hopefully from a cheaper source. ;)

$195 39 inch 1080p

Cowboom is essentially BestBuy's outlet and clearance store. Yes, it's not from a one of the huge brands, but that many positive reviews can't be wrong.

Link for me. :D

u/ozyman · 3 pointsr/raisingkids

My daughter's first word was 'ball' also. I've tried to introduce video games to her. The one kind of successful attempt was when I downloaded some 'toddler' levels to Little Big Planet. She enjoyed running around popping bubbles, but controlling the thumbstick well was beyond her.

I also setup wipeout (racing game) to use the motion sensitive controls, so that she could just turn the controller to steer, but I think it is too fast paced for her - she wasn't interested.

Also, FYI, regarding golf, my daughter has this set:
http://www.amazon.com/Little-Tikes-TotSports-Easy-Golf/dp/B001Q8U39I/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1344620466&sr=8-4&keywords=toddler+golf

She plays with it occasionally. If you were interested, I bet you could get it for your daughter soon to get her familiar with it, even if she can't quite swing a club.

u/tylerayoung · 6 pointsr/kettlebell

Oh God, my 2 year old needs this. Where did you pick it up?

Edit: looks like Amazon sells it for $25: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B007Q62QRG/

Under 0.5 lbs is perfect.

Looks like they stopped making them.

I've got like 3 in my Nerf box somewhere. They're pretty cool.

u/HK4913 · 1 pointr/nostalgia

I just bought one the other day! They're still super fun to throw in the backyard.

Perhaps he just replied quickly, but nerf has this really common toy That can pretty easily modified. Perhaps it might take another $10 to modify the fins. But either way....$45 is very steep for this.

u/SearingPhoenix · 2 pointsr/Nerf

I really like the Buzz Bee Western Rifle for just... fun factor. It's just a fun thing to use. It's not a good blaster, but the fact that it's lever-action and ejects shells... It just makes you smile to use.

u/IsaLone · 10 pointsr/Parenting

I would take him out for dad/son outings. Maybe go to the park or find a game that just the 2 of u play. My LO is 18 months. I bought this for him and dad to play with together. But I encourage the outings for the 2 of u to be out of the house, away from mom.

u/SuperCat2017 · 2 pointsr/ElectricSkateboarding

I'm not as young as the kids in the picture so it should fit more like a bubble vest. My biggest concern is that by wearing this it will be causing a lot of wind resistance. The upside is that I will never have a need for condoms again and that should save me a few bucks :/

Will my remote work with my new riding gloves?

Bay area GYW crew. If you don't have THIS already, buy it for your guy. It's by far my son's favorite toy and has kept his attention for 6 months. Any time we need 5-10 minutes of peace we tell him to go "slam dunk" and he goes to town on the hoop. It's also made him interested in basketball when it's on the tv, he'll see the game on and point back and forth between his hoop and the tv.

u/clickcookplay · 1 pointr/offbeat

Definitely. I got my nephew a Nerf N-Strike Longshot for Christmas this year. It was almost bigger than he was. He loved it. My sister, not so much.

u/ernieball · 1 pointr/beyondthebump

Last summer my son went nuts over this snail pool. We used it both with water and with ball pit balls. Hands down his favorite toy ever.

He's 17 months now and since his first birthday he's loved his slide, his basketball hoop, and his cozy truck.

We're looking to get him a water table for the back patio soon and I've been thinking about a sand box.

We're in SoCal so there will be lots of outdoor activities in the immediate future.

Nerf Dart Ammo Mesh Bag: http://www.amazon.com/Hasbro-Nerf-Mega-Micro-Dart/dp/B000M69IH8

Holds a good deal of dice, and you can show off your collection without having to open it all up. Before this, I was using an old shirt sleeve tied at one end. The nice thing about that was that it opened up and the fabric collapsed into a nice ring around the dice.

u/myownuniqueusername · 2 pointsr/DIY

I have had good results with Shoe GOO...I do it this way....

  1. pull tile down and set it down face-up, flat on the floor.
  2. slap down a golf ball sized gob of glue.
  3. Place the camera on top of the glue and smash the glue down into the porous board and weigh it down with something heavy (like a phone book or 4).
  4. walk away and come back 24 hours later.

This will PERMANENTLY stick those cams to the ceiling once you pop the tiles back in.

BONUS TIP!! Get yourself a toy crossbow and a ball of yarn and shoot a string across the suspended ceiling canopy
to assist with pulling wire through the high places instead of doing it on a ladder, one tile at a time....

Sounds like these things. You throw it however you like, and they'll end up the correct way if they have time to straighten out.

u/mamallama · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Does Tee-ball count? i didn't play any sports as a kid, i want to change that pattern with mine.

Thanks for the contest!!

u/RedWren · 2 pointsr/Nerf

Amazon Price < As you can see they are going for 200$ on amazon right now. And they aren't on any shelves around here, or I haven't heard anything on American Nerf forums. You could be able to make some money by buying Longshots and selling them to Americans. That is really interesting that you still have old stuff there.

u/Hip_Fridge · 7 pointsr/Nerf

Hammershots and Slingfires would be your go-to in this case, I agree.

--

Also maybe some Buzz Bee Doubleshots for that double-barrel break-open action.

--

EDIT: OP, not sure how much you like/dislike shells, but there's also the [Buzz Bee Rapid Fire Rifle](http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000GL1OL2/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1463624503&sr=8-1&pi=SX200_QL40&keywords=buzz+bee+rapid+fire(
), which is lever-action like the Slingfire but uses shells that eject after each shot. I own one with around 40 shells, it needs more prep and cleanup than the Slingfire but can confirm you'll feel like a bad-ass gunslinger.

u/Stregano · 2 pointsr/shutupandtakemymoney

Like this and this and this

Nerf guns are badass now. Back in the day, the coolest nerf weapon you could get was the bow and arrow

u/leejyt · 3 pointsr/Nerf

http://www.amazon.com/Hasbro-Nerf-N-Strike-Disk-Shot/dp/B000OKW220

That's pretty close for something that exists already.

On craigslist/ebay people sell the disc shooter and discs.

u/FGHT_FF_YR_DMN · 4 pointsr/somethingimade

Not stupid at all! I had a Madbull airsoft grenade that is made to propel a shower of 200 BBs with pressurized gas. The launcher I made can be used to shoot BBs as well, but it gets more oohs and ahhs with these. The football makes a seal with the ABS plastic barrel and gets a range of about 50 meters on a warm day.

u/Tabun · 1 pointr/Nerf

Hmm, Loved your idea, accidentally stumbled on this just now and had to come back and post it for you.

I'll just put this here

my purchase history only goes back to 2011, but this is the first thing that i can see. lever action nerf shotgun bitchezzz

u/idiot_proof · 17 pointsr/geek

I don't think you understand how much of a steal this is. There's the two Recons going for $20 used and new for almost $100, the longshot going for $100-200 easy, the Vulcan going for way too much, two $15 Mavericks, a $25 rampage, plus a whole lot more. I mean, it's easily over $200 worth of guns, especially with that longshot. The longshot uses a different mechanism for firing the darts that can be better modified than pretty much any other nerf gun out there. Stock, it's on par with most guns, but modded it can be hitting some insane ranges. Since it's no longer in production, nor is any gun with the same mechanism, it's worth a pretty penny.

Edit: I'm wrong on the plunger system.

u/hobbykitjr · -3 pointsr/kickstarter

$20 for a foam ring seems excessive.... I guess you're not paying for tax and shipping but still, i would expect to see the ring by itself in the store for about $10 (+tax)

E.g. the nerf vortex for $12.66

Kickstarter should be about getting a bulk discount in exchange for early adoption

edit thats limited quantities but if you buy 4 you can get them for $10 a piece ... also why are they charging $15 more for earlier shipping? that seems sketchy too.

cool product but horrible kickstarter setup in my opinion.
