I've built my collection of EDH decks since I started playing EDH in around 2011-2012. I used to have a lot more 60-card casual decks, but then my playgroup gradually switched to EDH/Commander because it was "more fair." My collection of Commander decks include the 32 precon decks I've purchased of which about 6 or 7 I've modified. The rest of them are in their original state. I just counted the deck's I've built from scratch and I currently have 57 of them so I apparently have 89 total Commander decks.

I've only disassembled 2 of my Commander decks over time. My first deck I played a lot and it was a Naya [[Survival of the Fittest]] goodstuff deck led by [[Rith, the Awakener]]. It contained the Fruity Pebbles combo, and after I won a few times with that combo I decided to retire the deck. The other deck I took apart was a lame deck that tried to play too many big bombs without enough support, and it was a 5-color deck which made it even harder to play decently. I decided it was better to take it apart and use the pieces for other decks rather than trying to salvage the deck.

I keep most of my decks in these Ultra Pro 150 Count Clear Card Storage Boxes on a bookcase-like storage unit. I can see all of my decks and just grab the ones I want to play and throw them in my Stanley Organizer to take to game night. I've also been experimenting with other deck transportation methods to take less decks to game night since I typically only play 3 or 4 decks in one night.

I typically get to play anywhere from 1 to 4 decks per week, and I got to play 12 of my decks that I brought to Magic Fest Las Vegas. I like keeping the decks together as I feel like they're never actually done being built. I can always find ways to make tweaks to them. I also like keeping my decks together as when I play them they bring back memories of the good times I've had playing with friends and the nostalgia of playing the various commanders.

First class mail package/thick envelope works absolutely fine with 4x8 bubble mailers. It costs about $2.67 if you purchase the postage through eBay, and you get the added bonus of free tracking and delivery confirmation. When you're shipping more valuable cards, you might want to spring for insurance (pay out of your own pocket if the buyer didn't request it specifically). It's pretty cheap and is a good way to play it safe.

Here's the method I've used for shipping hundreds of cards on eBay, with absolutely no problems whatsoever. You'll need the following supplies:

#000 4x8 Bubble Mailer
Penny sleeve
Toploader
Team bag
Scotch tape
Packing tape

  1. Place the card you want to ship upside down in the penny sleeve, then fold the excess bit of plastic back up from the open end of the sleeve. This will keep the card from sliding out of the penny sleeve.

  2. Slide the penny-sleeved card into the toploader, starting with the folded end of the penny sleeve. Be sure to keep the penny sleeve folded while you do this. It might be a bit tricky to get the card into the toploader, but it won't fall out of the penny sleeve once you do.

  3. Tap the bottom of the toploader against a hard surface a couple times if need be to make sure the card is all the way inside and level. Then, tape a piece of scotch tape and tape up the open end of the toploader. Make sure to use a bit longer piece of tape than you need, and fold on end over itself to make a tab on one side of the toploader. This will ensure that the card won't fall out of the toploader during shipping while making it easier for your buyer to get the card out.

  4. Place top toploader inside a team bag and seal it. In the event that your bubble mailer gets wet, this should ensure the card remains undamaged.

  5. Print out the order invoice, fold it up, and place it inside the bubble mailer along with the toploader. Seal the bubble mailer, then place a piece of packing tape over the flap of the bubble mailer to ensure it stays shut.

  6. Print out your postage. You can use a regular piece of printer paper if need be, but I'd definitely recommend going with an adhesive address label. Better yet, if you'll be shipping in volume I'd recommend getting a thermal printer (I've got a Dymo LabelWriter 4XL that's awesome), because then you don't have to worry about smudging, even if the address label gets damp.

  7. Apply the postage to the outside of the bubble mailer. If you're using regular printer paper, be sure to tape all edges with packing tape to ensure it stays in place. Then place a piece of packing tape over the addresses. Again, this step is unnecessary if you invest in a thermal printer.

Hope this information helps anyone looking for a worry-free way to ship cards!

You will be tempted to buy up big boxes of bulk. I was told I shouldn't, but I did anyway. I figured I could take what I got and make crappy decks, then buy singles to fix them up. While I got some cards that were useful, it was only a fraction of what I got.

Although the decks on this list are all standard legal, they are great for any casual player and are all around $20 each. I really liked this list from Core 2019, too. The M19-only decks are mostly around $10, so they should give you plenty of value.

You can also consider Card Kingdom's Battle Decks. These are non-standard legal decks that are specially made by Card Kingdom with an eye toward balance and casual play. Many of them are out of stock right now, but you should be able to find a few to experiment with.

For non-card purchases, I like these cheap deck boxes for new players to store casual decks (here's a 5-pack instead of the 10-pack). They'll fit nicely inside your bundle box. You might even fit two unsleeved decks in each box. If you want sleeves, KMC is a good value/quality proposition. If you're not too rough, Ultra Pro Matte (not Deck Protector) sleeves are good, too, and a bit cheaper. However, keep in mind the cost of sleeves versus the cost of replacement. I didn't start sleeving my cards until I started building my own decks with cards that had some value to them. Honestly, I'd stick to buying cards until you run out of room in your bundle box and need more storage.

This is going to be fun. Across my multiple wishlists...

1.) Something that is grey.
Grey bedsheets.

2.) Something reminiscent of rain.
Pet water fountain.

3.) Something food related that is unusual.
Astronaut Ice Cream

4.) Something on your list that is for someone other than yourself. Tell me who it's for and why. (Yes, pets count!)
This Bruins banner is for my BFF Becky. She loves the Bruins more than anything. Hockey is her obsession. I put it on my list to remind myself to get it for her at some point. It would make her happy.

5.) A book I should read! I am an avid reader, so take your best shot and tell me why I need to read it!
The Name of the Wind. Of everything I've read in the past 6 months, this one I devoured and have been desperate for the second book in (it's on my list to pick up this week, actually, if my paycheck EVER comes in).

Look, I hate... HATE... first person perspective. I see it as a sign of sloppy writing. However, this book had me SOLD on it. Kvothe is possibly one of my new favorite characters OF ALL TIME.

Avid reader doesn't even begin to describe me. I have my own library. I need books like air. And if I had to make a list of 100 books that were all I was allowed to have for the rest of my life, THIS WOULD BE ON IT.

6.) An item that is less than a dollar, including shipping... that is not jewelry, nail polish, and or hair related!
This kindle book

7.) Something related to cats. I love cats! (keep this SFW, you know who you are...)
The most interesting cat toy in the world

8.) Something that is not useful, but so beautiful you must have it.
This choker. Enough said.

9.) A movie everyone should watch at least once in their life. Why?
The Breakfast Club Why? Because. It's a good movie. Whether you were the jock, the brain, the spoiled brat, the loser, or the troublemaker-- there's a character you can identify with, and it shows that whatever and whoever you are, you can get along with someone who isn't in your clique.

10.) Something that would be useful when the zombies attack. Explain.
A Seed Vault

Everyone worries about fighting zombies.

Dumb. You see, when the zombies come, I'm holing up. A few weeks and if they are undead, they'll have rotted themselves to death. If they are fast moving, viral sumbitches, then they'll have likely ended up offing themselves through dehydration or whatever.

In any event, I'll wait them out. But then, I will need to rebuilt and eat.

(Besides, I have my trusty zombie-killing baseball bat, and a bow. Quiet. Efficient.)

11.) Something that would have a profound impact on your life and help you to achieve your current goals.
This book on Aztec and Inca expansionism. I'm back in school, and my focus is Mesoamerican Studies. Eventual degrees, here I come!

12.) One of those pesky Add-On items.
Zucchini seeds.

13.) The most expensive thing on your list. Your dream item. Why?
A KitchenAid Mixer Why? I like to cook and bake. My mother has one that I used for years when I was a kid and still living with her. I'm 30 now. I remember she got it when I was like, 5. IT STILL WORKS. Over a dozen moves, being abused for holidays making bread and cookies and cakes, being used by my Dad (I swear, he looks at appliances and they break) and it STILL FUNCTIONS PERFECTLY.

I cannot think of a kitchen appliance that would be more useful.

14.) Something bigger than a bread box. EDIT A bread box is typically similar in size to a microwave.

This loft bed

15.) Something smaller than a golf ball.
How about 7 somethings? A set of dice.

16.) Something that smells wonderful.
Italian Herb Bread Mix It smells good when you open the box. When it's mixed. While it's rising. While it bakes. After it bakes. As you've slathered butter on it and begin to nom.

17.) A (SFW) toy.
Hawkeye is so SFW I would bring him in to put on my desk.

18.) Something that would be helpful for going back to school.
This book, of course.

19.) Something related to your current obsession, whatever that may be.
Funko Tyrion Lannister because even a small man can cast a great shadow.

20.) Something that is just so amazing and awe-inspiring that I simply must see it. Explain why it is so grand.
This.

No one will understand the magnificence of this plushie.

It is a rotund, cuddly, snuggly Cthulhu.

But Cthulhu does not cuddle. He does not care. When the stars are right, he will rise from the deeps and from his seat Ry'leh, devour his cultists-- and everyone else-- by the millions, and bring forth an end to all things.

But how can you deny his Elder God wrath? HOW?! Look at him, all squishy and warm and soft. Look at his little T-Rex arms, reaching out for your love and devotion. His eyes, his wiggly little face tentacles. YOU MUST SNUGGLE HIM.

fear cuts deeper than swords

What do we say to death? NOT TODAY.

The KMC Hyper Mat (Matte) Premiums are probably the less opaque of the KMC brand sleeves. They have a different back texture in comparison to the KMC Hyper Mats (Mattes), but the plastic on the front is slightly more glossy, which slightly clouds viewing (you can still see your card perfectly clear, but it doesn't quite let the foils "pop"). It's super minor, but if you're going for the backs not showing, the different texture does help. I think they come in colors other than black, but you have to look around (Amazon is my reference point). Ask your LGS for them.

You're making a good decision by choosing KMCs, that's for sure. The Premiums also have a great shuffle feel if that helps.

Edit: I should have referenced you to the Professor for further details on the Premiums. As they say, it's never too late.

Also should have said this earlier (and my spelling was bad too...that's what happens when I reddit before my AM coffee), but I use these sleeves and have never had an issue with seeing the backs of cards with them. I believe they are the Premiums, but I could be wrong. They have the gloss and texture, so I'm assuming they're Premiums. If they have the same type of plastic in white as they do in black, you shouldn't have an issue with seeing your cards. I use KMCs for everything and they work wonderfully with my double faced cards. I'd recommend them to anyone. My buddy who uses Dragon Shields shuffled with my cards and couldn't stop for a solid hour (I have weird friends). He couldn't believe how they can pull off double sleeving so well and how nicely they shuffled. So there's that upside plus the visibility. Judges seem to like them.

/u/Yokuo You're awesome! and I hope you're having a wonderful day/night!

if that doesn't work, then hum:

Marceline from Adventure Time is family friendly and one of the best characters on the show. :)

One recipe that everyone loves is pizza balls. :) While you can use canned biscuits, I prefer to get the canned pizza crust and stretch it out as wide as I can without tearing it. Cut it into squares, about 12 to 16 per crust. Put whatever toppings you want, we usually stick with pepperoni and pizza cheese. Wrap the ends up and press together to seal it. The sealed part goes face down on a greased pan. Be sure to brush the tops with some butter and sprinkle Italian seasoning on top. Cook at 375 for 10 to 15 minutes, depending on how much toppings you put inside. Meanwhile, heat up some pizza sauce to dip them in. :)

Happy Funko Friday!

@OP... I've been doing some research online and you may find this helpful. I found Tolarian Community College browsing YouTube and although his videos are pretty cheesy and aimed for MTG, a lot of the same principles for card storage apply since MTG and PTCG both use the same standard size cards. After watching almost 80 of his videos (my wife is still laughing at me), I decided to forego my initial plans for storing cards in toploaders. I'll instead be using the toploaders I already bought to sell and trade cards through the mail. The #1 reason why I gave up on toploaders for storage was because the only solution I could find involved commissioning a custom box. I couldn't justify spending the $100's to $1,000's it would require to commission a company like Wyrmwood Quality Gaming Supplies to custom-make a wooden box of sufficient size to store toploaders.

The new storage solution I decided on was to buy 400 (200x2) KMC perfect fit inner sleeves and 400 KMC Hyper Mattes, plus the DEX Protection Creation Line - Medium Box for storing my play decks, the DEX Binder 12 for storing my personal collection, and the DEX Binder 4 for storing the cards I have available for trade.

Let me know if you find any other solutions for storing toploaders!

Edit: Hidden among his hundreds of videos, I found this which includes a review of Kakapopo cases. It looks like the company stopped selling some of their other products in favor of their A2 Briefcase, B2 Carry Case, and D2 Case Cube. It looks like prices for these products are pretty steep and unfortunately they don't have the best reviews. But it's something!

Tak - Abstract game, very flexible, very fun! Feels like checkers and chess. Put the pieces in a bag to bring with.

Jump Drive / Race for the Galaxy (put it in a deck box) - engine building VP generation games about space, very replayable.

Cave Vs Cave - Super fun worker placement ish game.

Lost Cities - Fun 2 player game, can be reboxed. Just cards, very deep gameplay from just cards.

Patchwork - Puzzle tetris style game, lovely theme and artwork.

Jaipur - My GF's favorite game, fun little set collection game.

Onitama - Pretty large box, but very fun 2 player game. Could Proxy pieces and bring just the card and roll up board.

I bought this case, and whenever I travel I slap a bunch of small box/card games in it. Makes traveling with games super easy.

u/bubbafry · 11 pointsr/magicTCG

I bet he will find several thousand more dollars worth of cards in there. He should invest in some sleeves and card holders in order to protect his cards. I prefer to double sleeve, then put it in a magic card binder (NOT a regular 3 ring binder) or in a top loaders.

KMC Perfect Fit sleeves

https://www.amazon.com/KMC-Barrier-PERFECT-packs-Total/dp/B00T3Z72Q8

KMC Hyper Matte Playing Sleeves

https://www.amazon.com/KMC-Hyper-Matte-Sleeves-Sheets/dp/B00VCQXQAW

Rigid Top Loaders

https://www.amazon.com/Ultra-Pro-Regular-TOPLOADERS-Standard/dp/B01G1GRLSA

You take the card and (carefully) put the card upside down into the Perfect Fit sleeves. The card should fit snugly in there. Then you put the card into the Playing Sleeve with the opening of the Perfect Fit sleeve at the bottom. Then put the whole thing into a top loader.

So Card -> Perfect Fit sleeve -> Playing Sleeve -> Top Loader

Good luck!.. And no more bend testing for all that is holy, lol.

Edit to add: if they are in extremely good condition (like they look perfect straight out of the pack), it may be best to avoid the Perfect Fit because you can cause very small nicks in the corners if you're not careful putting them in which can affect their grade, but if they look like the Black Lotus you have there, then it's probably not a huge concern.

Kind of long story. I went to a three year high school, I had the same choir teacher every year, and two classes senior year. Every year we went to competitions across the state, around the region, we did a 2 or 3 week long Madrigal Feast production, one year we drove to disneyland to perform and back, stopping along the way and doing workshops. We spent a lot of time together. I loved choir, and i loved this teacher.

We did this regional thing where all of the choirs got together at the community college, did workshops all day and then did a big performance, led by some minor BigWig conductor.

Side note - when you are singing as a group, it is very important to pronounce your words correctly - it is up to the director. In cases like "Won't You" you have to make a hard t and a hard y. no abbreviations like "wontchoo"

For rehearsal, all ten or so choirs were on stage, in position, taking direction from BigWig, all of our directors were in the audience. We were singing a folk song, and BigWig instructs us to say "wontchoo" because it sounds more folksy.

Some girl from another choir immediately contradicts him and says something like "But shouldn't we properly pronounce and separate the two words?" My choir kind of gave each other looks like "...wtf?" They kind of argued over it, it wasn't just a question, she was like "this isnt how it works!" and he was like "...i'm the director, i just want you in unison, trust me it will work if everyone does it"

  1. The next day in class my director was discussing our experience and what we learned. Someone brought up the girl, and he said "I am just glad it wasn't one of you, because I would have flown onto stage like a bat from the rafters and dragged you back to hell with me."

  2. I shared this because it is my favorite line i ever heard him say.
  3. Congrats!
  4. You will be fine!
  5. Marceline Funko on my under $5 or $10 list
u/Kilron · 1 pointr/Games

Pretty sure Nintendo wanted people to buy their World of Nintendo toys if they wanted figures, but the only one I have that doesn't feel like a cheap toy is the six inch Metroid. Now granted that thing just feels awesome to hold in your hand, but the rest of WoN has some snags, like inconsistent paint jobs, characters that can't stand up without some kind of support, and the good ones are even harder to find than some amiibo.

u/ItsACharlieDay · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I am obsessed with three things. Disney, Marvel, and The Walking Dead... What's great is that disney owns some marvel. I think I buy too much and I can tell when I'm going on about marvel and some doesn't care, but I keep talking more anyway!

There are so many items on my lists!

A few funko pop items that you could have fun choosing to total $30 a lot of disney, marvel, and walking dead. That's actually all that's on there.

The newbies: Star Lord Rocket Gamora Drax Groot

Toy story is my favorite. The characters are all flawless. So it's cool they're doing the Pixar shorts such as the terror short.
But here is my disney list idk. Maybe attach a funko pop to a movie. See if we can become best friends by your taste.

walking dead just to throw them in the ring. Again. I only talk about these things and some get annoyed some enjoy the discussions.

u/PK_Thor · 5 pointsr/pkmntcgcollections

Amazon is probably your best bet. These are the best card sheets available in my opinion, but it's unnecessary for, say, individual sets or master sets; I mostly use them for my binder of rare and valuable cards. These are probably the second best option and are good for any type of card, otherwise the regular ones found at Walmart and Target are fine; the only thing is they tend to sag at the bottom if the binder is standing vertically but it doesn't damage or affect the cards at all.

For binders, I haven't played around with too many different kinds, but I am very satisfied with the Avery brand. Here's the specific kind I use.

What's more family friendly than an Elsa Frozen Funko? :D

I make a pretty delicious coconut tres leche cake (my boyfriend loves coconut). I found the recipe online somewhere back when I was looking for coconut dessert inspiration. The cake is super big though; we've never been able to finish the whole pan. I've made it 3x now for the bf, so it's become a favorite in our household, but I can't take credit for coming up with it.

9 x13 cake
1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup coconut flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter
1 tablespoon honey
5 large eggs
3/4 cup sugar (cake)
2 tablespoons sugar (frosting)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
One can (13.5 oz) coconut milk (the good stuff, canned)
One can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
1 1/2 cups whole milk
1 pint heavy whipping cream
Zest from 1 lime
1 cup sweetened shredded coconut

Preheat the oven to 350 and grease the baking dish.
Melt butter and honey together and set aside.
Whisk flour, salt, and baking powder.
Beat eggs, sugar, and vanilla in a separate bowl. Beat in the flour mixture until the batter is just smooth.
Fold in the butter + honey mixture and mix until it is just fully incorporated.
Pour the batter into the pan and bake 25-30 minutes.
While the cake is baking, mix the three milks together.
Spread the coconut out on a baking sheet. Put them in the oven and toast until golden brown, stirring every few minutes. It should take about 9-10 minutes total.
Use a toothpick to poke holes all over the cake.
Now pour the milk over the warm cake slowly. Most of the milk will adsorb into the cake.
Whip the cream, 2 tablespoons of sugar, and lime zest together until stiff peaks form. Spread the cream on the cake, then sprinkle the toasted coconut on top.

Happy Funko Friday!

You might have different needs than me. I have like 30 EDH decks. I wanted cheap deck boxes that would should the commander. I wanted them to be replaceable if I wanted and sturdy enough I wouldn't often want to.

This is not for people who want deck boxes as lovingly crafted as their decks or want completely indestructible boxes that are hermetically sealed. This will repel some water, like rain or a quickly cleaned spilled drink, but not protect again submersion.

I settled on BCW 100 count boxes with a hard toploader attached with packaging tape.

50 count of boxes - https://www.amazon.com/Count-Bundle-Corrugated-Cardboard-Storage/dp/B000K3XPTA/

100 count ultrapro toploader - https://www.amazon.com/Ultra-Pro-Loaders-Sleeve-Promo/dp/B002K2MNGK?th=1&psc=1

If you order each 100 at a go it will cost less than $1 per box. If you buy the stuff for one box, you might pay $2 for the box at an LGS and another dollar for the toploader. it might be worth it to buy a small pack of toploaders because they are randomly useful and I have never regretted having spares.

Add any clear packaging tape and have cheap deck boxes that show off the commander. I used Duck brand max strength ultra clear HD. No clue what my tape is doing with the extra HD pixels, but it is strong and I got it walmart for less than $5 and use it for anything that needs clear tape.

With the dispenser about $6 per roll - https://www.amazon.com/Duck-Clear-Packaging-Refill-441962/dp/B0006HX2MU

Without dispenser about $2 per roll - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000GR5XCW

Looking at it - it should work fine, seems like they'll fit. I'm not too sure on the differences between the two personally, it does seem to be a slightly sturdier sleeve though - so should be fine. I'd say it largely depends on what reasoning you have to sleeve them. If it's for play, I'd get the hard sleeves as opposed to the ones I linked, and if it's for collection I'd go for the linked sleeves.

Personally I put everything into the perfect sleeves linked, then into the official pokemon deck sleeves (the types in the trainer boxes) - though any standard size should work - and then into a binder. This is for collecting purposes - as both the sleeve types I'm using are glossy and clear on the front, whereas both the Perfect Hard Sleeve and the Ultra Pro Sleeves are matte fronts, meaning they dull the shine and clarity of the cards a noticeable amount - but in exchange for being much sturdier.

For pure collection you don't need hard sleeves as their main use is to protect from shuffling and, say, banging around in a deck box. You should binder or topload any cards that are for pure collection purposes, and of course keep them temperate.

Also keep in mind pricing - the packs are each roughly a similar price, but you'll get half of the sleeves per pack if you go Hard Sleeves.

TL;DR If you're planning on going for collectable storage get the cheaper Perfect Fit Normal Sleeves, and some form of glossy standard card sleeve.
-
If for play, get the Perfect Fit Hard Sleeves (Look around for pricing maybe) and Ultra Pro Deck Sleeves to get the best level of protection for shuffling and jostling.

Just preference on what you like. I like being able to see both sides of the card so I use regular Ultra Pro penny sleeves on my cards. I've been slowly finding my old collection of Pokemon and a lot of the top loaders have yellowed some but the cards inside the sleeves are fine. This an ok deal on penny sleeves and Top Loaders I've got before: https://www.amazon.com/3x4-Top-Loaders-Ultra-Pro/dp/B002K2MNGK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1510800635&sr=8-1&keywords=3x4+Top+Loaders+100+ct+by+Ultra+Pro+-+Plus+100+Free+Card+Sleeve+Promo+Pack+%281+Pack%29

Recently found out about these Pro-Fit sleeves that fit Pokemon cards perfectly and have been using these for cards that I put in binder pages.
https://www.amazon.com/Ultra-Pro-Standard-Pro-Fit-Transparent-Sleeves/dp/B005HXLH3O/ref=sr_1_1?s=toys-and-games&ie=UTF8&qid=1510800779&sr=1-1&keywords=Ultra-Pro+Standard+Pro-Fit+Transparent+Clear+Sleeves+%28100%2FPack%29+89mm+x+64mm

The solid back colored sleeves to me look alright if you are playing with the cards.

Great advice. All of this is right. I would add one more tip.

Buy 6 sheets of 16 pocket card holders — use these to organize the tech trees so everyone can see their tech pathways. It seriously reduces clutter and speeds comprehension.

You can also use them to organize planets by color to make colonization a breeze.

Also: costumes are fun. And the ambient space playlist on Spotify is pitch perfect. Mood really heightens the experience. We had a brilliant first play and have another game coming up in two weeks since everyone loved it so much. It is the most fun I’ve had with a board game.

Actually I am almost done foiling out BW Edrazi & Taxes and started looking into this as well. I went with KMC Perfect Hard + Dragonshield Mattes, and just got the Perfect Hards a couple days ago and re-sleeved. To give you an idea of the thickness increase, prior to that I was using a Ultra Pro 2-Piece 150 Count Clear Card Storage Box for the double-sleeved deck, sleeved sideboard, and extra inner/outer sleeves. (FYI, I love this deck box and use them for all my other decks.) After going with the Hards, the 60 card deck fits fine in the storage box, but not the SB and extra sleeves. This is even after 24-hours of the sleeves sitting under some very heavy programming books. So yeah, that combo does add a good amount of thickness, but they do feel great when shuffling, and I like the added protection. Edit: I tested with Ultra Pro Eclipse and hated them, totally muted the foiling effect and didn't feel any better than DS mattes.

As for a new deck box, I just ordered a Ultra Pro Satin Tower Deck Box. I really hope it fits all the cards and the top doesn't open in my backpack.

I have been having the same issue trying to figure out how I want to store all my dials and tiles. I have noticed that if you want to do binders that the small base tiles fit into the old 1.0 Mini upgrade card sized pages, the medium fit into the Normal card sized pages and the large bases fit into the 4 Slot sheets. In terms of dials I have been reading that people have been using These sheets. I have been on the fence about using binders for these, but I already have a box of 100 mini upgrade sheets from 1.0 that I still have like 80% of because I bought it before 2.0 was announced thinking I would need them. I was considering doing card and coin boxes for them. I know Coin boxes are popular as well for dials and small bases, but for the medium and large I don't really have a solution to those right now. I know I can fit the large into Card boxes, but I don't know if there is a better solution for medium bases.

u/ManbosMambo · 1 pointr/magicTCG

They are the same size as the oversized Commander cards as well as Planechase, which I believe are all 3x5 inches.

I see that they should fit on the size chart lying down in the main compartment, but that seems like an awkward solution for people who like to keep them with their counterpart decks, as it may not close with several of these stacked beneath a deck. That's pretty much what I am wondering.

Also, it looks like if you used some of the real-estate on the bottom of the lid, you could probably add a simple means of holding oversized cards. (It's super picky, but the one thing keeping me with my current box is that it holds my Archenemy deck as well)

u/toyzu · 4 pointsr/MarvelLegends

The flat round stands are from Neca: https://www.amazon.com/NECA-Action-Figure-Display-Stands/dp/B00ICNW438

The ones with arms are the 5-pack from Obitsu: https://www.amazon.com/OBITSU-Assembly-Action-Figure-Transparent/dp/B00UUTBFGY

Also available as a 1-pack: https://www.amazon.com/OBITSU-Assembly-Action-Figure-Stand/dp/B002T3TXEK

I had bought the Neca stands for my Star Wars Black Series figures, originally, but they work OK with some Marvel Legends, but not all, since the peg holes on the MLs can be very shallow (and basically useless).

I got the Obitsu stands mainly because their round bases match the Neca stands, but also because they have a cleaner look than the Bandai Stage Act 4 stands.

The Obitsu stands do take a bit of work to get the balance right, though, and they tend to wobble a bit, but eventually they settle down. Heavier figure like the Thor have a harder time of getting the balance right.

They are pretty flexible when it comes to their configurations, though. The Star Lord and Captain Marvel figures are using the same stand, and are connected by a clip-on piece. I had run out of the flat base pieces, which is why I have them like that. The balance isn't super stable, and I had to use an extra piece to keep it from tipping over, but it seems to work.

I'm pretty happy with my storage so far so I'm happy to share.

Here's a link to a few pictures.

http://imgur.com/a/F8Ldw

For the dice I went with 2 Craft Storage Boxes from Hobby Lobby.

http://shop.hobbylobby.com/products/craft-storage-box-666735/

The ones in that picture are a little different than the ones I got. In store they sell the flat bottom containers for $2 and a version with rounded bottoms for 3.

For the cards I'm using Ultra-Pro 18 slots card sheets in a 3 ring binder. I have all the cards sleeved and they fit perfectly (it even helped to fix the warping from the booster packs). You'll also notice that I can fit some card stock printed playmats in the binder as well and tuck the dice bags into the back of the binder.

http://www.amazon.com/Ultra-Pro-Pocket-Side-load-Pages/dp/B009WU5EG4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1398517926&sr=8-1&keywords=Ultra+Pro+18+pocket

For the Basic Action cards, Basic Action dice and Sidekick dice I fit them all into a standard Ultra Pro Deck Box (with the cards sleeved).

u/IceRay42 · 2 pointsr/Netrunner

For deck boxes I recommend a Pro Tower Deck Box which conveniently holds two fully sleeved decks, and has additional space for any bits, or backup decks you'd like to carry. Once I got tired of sifting through an unsorted compartment for bits, I spent a few dollars on a small tackle box (I use this) to keep things sorted.

As for sleeves, this is a much more personal preference issue, but like Anlysia mentioned you're looking for "standard" TCG sized sleeves. Fantasy Flight has their own brand, but it'll come down to what you're looking for. Some people like to have cool cardbacks/art, some play strictly for the feel of the sleeve, and still others measure them strictly on durability.

For my money, I swear by Dragon Shield Mattes

They feel wonderful, stand up well over time, and come in all of the 5 colors of MtG. 10 bucks will be enough sleeves for both a runner and a corp deck, so they're not cheap, as sleeves go, but earn their investment over time.

u/Engineerbob · 2 pointsr/EDH

I picked up one of these, and really like it!

I can fit 2 decks in it, one in each tray, then where the "oversized" cards are supposed to go, I put two top loaders which hold each commander. I keep the rest of my decks in fat pack boxes... but I am looking to either get more of the tower boxes, or find another solution for bulk decks.

I keep my dice in a Canon lens bag like this They make great dice bags, and dont cost anything if you buy a fancy lens first!

I usually carry everything in my camera backpack it works great to have a backpack that is already designed to hold heavy junk. (plus, I can bring my camera too)

Alternatively the oversized ultra pro sleeves with the magic card backing on them work too, they are top loaders.

I don't know about double sleeved, but my single sleeved set fits in one of those 2 deck boxes that have a removable divider in them.

Hopefully this link works
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0041EV4GK/ref=mp_s_a_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1495507143&sr=8-6&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=2+deck+deck+box&dpPl=1&dpID=41FFaNeOadL&ref=plSrch

Just toss/ keep the divider and they'll fit nice. I'm one set short of the complete planechase set, but it'll fit all of them easy.

This Harley Quinn is super cute and I've been wanting her for a long time :)

Thanks, UPS! Gotta love when they make mistakes in your favor.

u/Adama70 · 1 pointr/XWingTMG

I have one of those also, it works great for the tokens and cards. The small containers fit the upgrade cards, the larger containers fit the big cards, so far the only thing that doesn't fit are the movement and range pieces. The best part of that the little containers come out. When we play we just take out the shield, focus, evade and stress cups so the tokens aren't floating around loose on the table. I'm going to move the cards over to a binder as soon as I get the binder sheets that hold the upgrade cards.

For the models, bases and dials I purchased one of these: Plano Double Cover Two Sided Tackle Organizer. It fits everything I have, very well. The bases, movement and range finder all fit in the top part, the smaller ships and a few of the larger ships fit in the bottom. I don't think it will fit the Ghost, and I'm not sure what I'm going to do about that ship.

Finally I bought a bunch of single felt sheets in the craft area at Wal-Mart, I cut the felt into strips and use it as a liner for each of the compartments that holds a ship. I'm not sure if will really help that much much but it makes me feel better. For big ships like the Decimator and Falcon I just wrapped them in a piece of felt.

I really love the comics/graphic novels, and I think that they would make a great gift because they just offer more Adventure Time content especially for those who have watched the full series and crave more. Other that that the Funko Pop Figures are fun but not that great for playing with. Maybe the best thing for an 8 year old would be the smaller figurines. And if he hasn't watched the full series yet then there is always the DVD's!

What I prefer to do is put all my cards in binders. I have four 2" binders with each of them having 100 pages of 9-Pocket Plastic Sheets. If you go the path of the card holders for binders, I would suggest making sure to only put one card in each pocket, otherwise the pockets will get expanded then the cards will fall out really easily.

I sort the cards by set then the number within the set. There is one binder for trainer cards, one for energy cards (sorted by type, then set), and two binders for the pokémon. The benefit of this system is that it is easy to find specific cards and it is easy to organize and when new sets come out, a total rearrangement isn't necessary.

u/beSmrter · 7 pointsr/boardgames

Mayday ''Standards'' and Ultimate Guard ''Premium'' are some almost-a-penny soft sleeve lines. But I cannot honestly recommend using soft sleeves.

KMC Perfect Fits/Size are a touch more sturdy and thick, but still relatively thin. I can recommend these, but they are meant to be the inner when double sleeving, so they won't totally cover the top edge of the card though.

However, my method is use proper sleeves and toss out the inserts and if necessary move to deck boxes. Options include small, medium, large, also large. Links for example. May not represent the best price and certainly do not represent the only options.

Edit: Obligatory BGG Card Sleeve Sizes for games link. A great resource.

I bought This Pro Tower after someone posted it on here before. As a bit of a challenge, I made my travel box with the intent of getting a wide variety of small-box travel-easy games for between 2 and 6 players.

I've managed to fit the following games:

  • Game of Thrones: Hand of the King
  • Cockroach Poker
  • Red7
  • No Thanks!
  • Fugitive (sleeved) - without the optional game board, but with the whiteboard and marker
  • Fox in the Forest (sleeved)
  • LoveLetter/DeadDrop (sleeved)
  • Deck of Cards

I love it and it travels with me almost everywhere. I'm debating trying to fit Mint delivery in there in lieu or Red7/Loveletter.
u/thesidestepkids · 1 pointr/mtgcube

I have never had a dragon shield matte break or even bend on me. Occasionally I'll get light scratching on the clear side, but that's about the worst that happens.

If you double-sleeve, try [perfect fit hards] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01HLTUD5Y). I can't personally testify for their quality, but I've heard great things about them for foils.

Finally, make sure you have one of those silica gel packets (ya know, the little white packets that say "do not eat") in your box. They remove moisture from the atmosphere and help keep foils from bending. Make sure to change that out every 3-4 months, depending on what climate you live in.

u/vKatsune · 5 pointsr/amiibo

Because the binder is small, flimsy, cards easily slide out, pages tear easily, and the cards aren't very well protected. I would only recommend it to people that are super careful with their stuff, don't transport it much, and plan on using it purely to collect in a safe environment. Visually it looks good, and it technically does the job fine, but I wouldn't trust it to protect a expensive collection.

High durability Binder for $6: http://www.amazon.com/Wilson-Jones-Durable-Customizable-W86660/dp/B00CPXDSGS

9-Pocket Pages (50~100 count) cost anywhere from $6~$20 depending on the brand, count, quality, and style you go for. I personally recommend getting Ultra Pro side-loading pages with 9 slots on each side (18 slots per page): http://www.amazon.com/Ultra-Pro-3-Hole-Side-Load-Pocket/dp/B009WU5EG4/

I can personally attest that these fit a lot of Marvel Legends and SW Black Series figures. Not necessarily all, but a lot of them. They're made for 1:18 figures, and come with two pegs and usually one works. Sometimes I've had to use a blow dryer to heat the foot first to get the peg to fit, but either way, it works. They're pretty cheap and go relatively unnoticed. They're kind of small so typically it's one stand per foot on a ML figure.

If you are a player and less of a collector, I have a binder where I put my sleeved (KMC or UltraPro) Foil or Ultra Rare cards since they wont be used and are just for "prestige".

From my Common-normalRares I have a big deckbox with one of those Drybags which will help protecting the cards from moist air.

Here is the Deckbox I use

I mean in the end - you paid money for the cards so why not protecting them from dust and moist air. If like you said I have cards that are common but very commonly used or very good Ill sleeve a playset (3) of them.

I use only 2 Colors, Green and Orange Sleeves, green are all cards I use for decks and for playing so I can quickly build or change a deck without needing to unsleeve and resleeve cards (I mean I have my deck + like 30 other possible deck support cards in those sleeves, no every card) and the orange ones are for cards which have a high value or are for selling or trading.

u/timewalkinonsunshine · 2 pointsr/ModernMagic

I just resleeved the deck for this tournament!

The first layer is perfect fits, for which I chose KMC Perfect Hards. The next layer is normal sleeves. I used Pokemon 20th Anniversary sleeves. The third layer is character guards. I used KMC Character Guards (you can get better deals than this). The fourth layer is effectively impossible to purchase now, but they're KMC Strong Hards. I've heard that Broccoli also makes sleeves this size, but I have no first-hand experience with that.

u/TheYellowTea · 1 pointr/Netrunner

Sorry but it can't hold all of the tokens. I would say it fits about half of them. This is totally enough for me and I take this setup to tournaments and gamenights. But if you want to store everything you might look for another solution.

Maybe this one Pro Tower

I have not used this but it seems like it can fit 2 decks and most or all of the tokens.

u/alanwj · 8 pointsr/AskElectronics

For the majority of my components I use 3 ring binders filled with baseball card holders. I took some pictures.

Imgur Album

It works great for small things for which I have multiple different values, like resistors and capacitors.

Here's are the actual bits I used if you want to duplicate:

u/Miran_C · 3 pointsr/starwarscollecting

They are these:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ICNW438

They're OK. The pegs are slightly too large for Black Series figures, and since the peg hole size varies they work better with some than others. Generally I only need them for the female figures since their feet are so tiny. Leia doesn't need a stand because she actually has big enough feet in this costume, plus her boots don't have high heels on them (Ahsoka, I'm looking at you - this is a design feature I do not understand because I cannot imagine that Ahsoka the character would ever in a million years wear heels, but whatever).

I don't know why Jyn stands well - maybe because she's knock-kneed. :)

u/imported · 3 pointsr/Doomtown

yea, no need to sleeve your whole collection. just sleeve decks as you make them. personally, i like flipping through my cards in a binder organized by set number rather than going through a bunch of cards in a box. i use these, two cards per pocket front and back.

for sleeves, i like the bcw colored double matte ones. you can find them on ebay for around 30$ for a 1000. i've been using bcw sleeves for the past two years and haven't had a single rip yet.

enjoy the game homie. once you get a feel of the game save this site on your phone. so useful.

I have a collectibles list that the funkos are on. THANKS!

u/johnjust · 3 pointsr/magicTCG
  1. KMC does sell clear Hyper Mattes.

  2. There are some unfun Planes, but probably only 4-5 at the most. You can find 6 to remove probably, but it leaves you with no extras. In the end, it's unfortunate to have to buy 3, but at least you have extras (which can also be used for Archenemy or oversized Commander cards). In fact, you can get a 2-pack from Amazon for around the same price as one single pack (which is weird), so you might just want to get 2 of those. As mentioned, there is an oversized deck box for holding them as well.

  3. Not really - you'd be better off carrying the 4 decks in a fat pack/deck builder's toolkit box.

  4. Probably not - again, you'd be better off carrying the 4 decks in a fat pack/deck builder's toolkit box.

  5. I'd save the box, as using it with sleeved cards/deck boxes (other than the provided slide boxes) wasn't really the intended purpose. The box itself is so thin (in depth) that I don't think even removing the plastic inner piece would allow it to fit regular deck boxes inside. Moreover, a box that size won't fit into a bag easily, whereas a fat pack box and the oversized deck box will fit almost anywhere (allowing you to preserve the original box for display/something else).

Edit: Additionally, the Planar die that comes with the set is about 2x the size of a normal Planar die, so even finding a place for that is hard. I carry around a set of Chessex dice - the plastic case has some extra room for a normal Planar die if you have one of those sitting around (you basically put the d4, d6, d8 and Planar die at the bottom, then the d20/d10 next and the d12/d10 on top of that - should be an almost perfect fit). Or, you could always use a regular d6 and use 1/6 for Chaos/Planeswalk, respectively.

Edit 2 - Forgot about the Planechase tokens... they're double-sided, so grab a pack of penny sleeves for those - that way, they're protected and still easy to use on both sides. You should have enough room left in the fat pack/deck builder's toolkit box for them along with the 4 double-sleeved decks.
u/VicVox72 · 1 pointr/KingdomDeath

Perfectly fitting SEs -- you wish. The sleeves are about 2mm too short... I tried "double bagging" them by having a second SE sleeve the other way round -- but then you actually start having weird refraction light issues and cannot read the cards all that well anymore.

You can get these style ones in different brands (the one I linked to is BBTS), and NECA also make good base only ones here. Just a note about the NECA ones, they only work with figures that have normal size feet. Most of the Marvel Legends should be fine.

it's probably better than nothing, just don't bang the tin around and mess up the edges. obviously you don't want to do it forever, in case moisture makes it's way in, or if it can rust. Still the best possible thing would be to put them in card sleeves and then in a rigid top loader card holder if you want to keep them pristine.

u/viticulturalist · 2 pointsr/boardgames

If you're looking for a more affordable solution, I would recommend buying this case card ($20) for storing deckboxes + bagged components. You would then use something like a laptop sleeve ($10) to store boards and other paper bits.

I went with plastic sheets for trading card games to organize and store my resistors. It works pretty well and is extremely space-saving, and if you secure it with a card board binder and tight elastic bands, I'd say it would also endure some upside-down maneuvers, although I still wouldn't recommend tossing it around.

I used to keep each deck in a case like this to showcase the commander. Now that I doublesleeve my decks don't fit in those boxes as well, so I use these. I think it's easier than grouping all your decks together.

It's constructed just like one of Ultra Pro's jank plastic deck boxes, which I've never been a fan of, but it fits 2 sleeved battle decks and easily holds bot cards in top loaders (assuming you're using 3.5 x 5 top loaders) for both decks in the larger space behind them. Only lacks storage for dice/counters.

I started out using index cards, but I got tired of handwriting each spell onto a card. Now I use playing card sized printouts and insert them into those collectible plastic sheets. That way I can move them around to keep them alphabetical for easy reference as my spell book grows. As for prepared spell books, I create one template for different functions, (i.e. in town, dungeon, RP heavy towns, etc) to cut down time during the game spent on preparing my spell book. Then I just keep one empty page if I find myself needing a special setup. It's a little extra paper, but I keep everything in a 1/2" binder so it doesn't make it more difficult to bring along.

I personally have found good use of the KO tamashii stands. Took me about a week or two to get them, but they're worth it.

Depends on the size of your collection and if you want to buy the return to... expansions.

Personally I have a small traveling case that I keep the next scenario and the player decks in. And then I keep the campaigns in either the Return to boxes or I have a regular cardboard box for the ones that haven't come out as return to expansions yet.

Edit:
My Setup

  • Top box has FA, and CU

  • Box below it has all the extra bits that I don't use much (this has been moved to the closet to make space)

  • Traveling Case (Holds a lot of unsleeved cards or more than enough sleeved ones.)

  • Player Cards in BCW card box (I now have 2 of them)

  • Return to... With their respective campaigns (Night of the Zealot has the standalones)

This is what I do. I have a lot of Harry Potter keychain figures because the scale works better (Dobby, Nifflers, Picket, etc) and museum putty keeps the wobblier ones standing. Marvel key chains are especially difficult because of the bobble head. My classic Ant-Man pop stands up on his own but The Wasp has tiny little needle legs and a GIANT HEAD so I ended up super-gluing her to an extra stand.

Caseling Extra Large Hard Case (2 Row) for C. A. H. Card Game. Fits the Main Game, All 6 Expansions Plus. Includes 6 Moveable Dividers. Fits up to 1650 Cards. - Card Game Sold Separately. Black https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B017237OJW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_HC5CCbF5NJHRD

It went up in price a bit from when I bought it but it's still a solid cheaper option.

I have most scenarios in a Go7gaming box insert (make sure you order the correct insert if you decide to go with this one; apparently there is a newer run of Lord of the Rings Card game Core boxes that were a slightly different size. The lgc-006 insert fits both sizes). I love it, but I have mostly replaced the acrylic dividers with card board dividers in order to pack as many cards as possible. Also, I don't sleeve my encounter cards.

My player cards are in a large binder with Ultra Pro, 9-pocket card pages with colored dividers for each sphere.

I have my current deck/s and scenarios along with Team Covenant Adventure Tokens and various dice (for threat tracking and willpower counting, etc.) in this deck box called the Pro Tower.

These are the stands I was talking about, if you do decide to buy these stands and they don’t work you can try the boiling water method which is when you boil water and dip in the part of which you want to fix on your pop and you wait a couple seconds for it to soften and then take it out mold it to the pose that you want and place it in ice cold water and that’s should do it.

Well I looked up a couple, but they aren't up to six. the First one is a deck box that holds 2 decks and the second is a deck box that holds 3

This also works as a deck box for the oversized cards.

I was planning on buying some of these, and a bunch of these in the appropriate colors. Basically the same as the Duel Deck boxes, without the matching designs.

Lots of people put resistors in (these) and use blue masking tape to close the entryway slot.

Buy a white long box at your FLGS for a couple bux, sleeve all the encounter cards and put them in there.

Buy Ultra pro Black pages (https://www.amazon.com/18-Pocket-Platinum-Side-Black-Background/dp/B009WU5EG4) and put your player cards in a binder with them.
