Adding in where I got everything for those interested:

This stuff is awesome! It's the RedLine Interior I used

Also, these, I went with the rear lights, reflectors and side lights and the darkest they had to go with my black/white motif.

Finally I got some sweet strobe vinyl decals on ebay and the classic challenger emblems for the sides.

Can't forget about the HellCat Intake Not sure if it adds much in terms of HP but it definitely gets the intake temp down on the freeway. You'll need this as well for it to connect to your headlight. FYI it's not very tight of a fit around the lip but I don't think it matters much. There's a few videos out there on how to install it, super easy, only took about 20 minutes. ( Note: you need a '15-'17 Challenger to do this)

It's an amazing mod. Outside of that - you are right in the fact the N52 is pretty well tuned from factory- worst case you can buy a new oem disa intake, but that starts getting pretty $$$. A good shop should be able to source a refurbished one. The x5's, 330s, and Z's all had the upgraded n52.

I did get 2-3 horsepower and a noticeable sound from doing a silicone intake tube as well - that was a good bang for your buck. https://www.amazon.com/Mishimoto-MMHOSE-E90-06IHBK-Engine-Silicone-2006-2013/dp/B01GA9WBB0 - I also did a clutch stop (assuming you have manual) which shortens the clutch dead space, that was $15 and is basically a plastic plug http://www.burgertuning.com/clutch_stop_BMW.html . ZHP shift knob was a nice upgrade from the plastic oem one too.

I've done pretty much every "low hanging fruit" mod on my e91, happy to share my experience. You're welcome to pm me if you have any questions

u/screwyluie · 1 pointr/3Dprinting

it all depends on how you're doing it and what you already have.

for me I have a semi flex dryer hose kinda like this one. so I'll get a soft hose like [this one]
(https://www.amazon.com/Dundas-Jafine-BTD48TC-ProFlex-Transition/dp/B0015UGPWQ/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1496271613&sr=8-2&keywords=dryer+hose) and splice it in with something like this and duct tape. This will go inline and serve as the exhausting force. This is how it will mount to the printer enclosure. I haven't settled on any of these parts especially the backdraft damper as I need it to seal reasonably well, but something like this.

the other thing to consider is when to vent. for PLA you can vent the whole time which is easier. But for things like ABS you don't want to vent all the time or you'll lose the ambient heat. So you'll vent after it's done. At first I didn't think this would be an issue but after reading this and the concern with ultrafines I have to reconsider. If the fines settle while it's printing then exhausting after will only minimise the airborne stuff, but opening the box and removing the print could stir up settled pollutants. Perhaps I need an internal fan to stir up the settled fines and get them to exhaust.

This might be overkill for some people. I have pets and kids and safety is something that is important to me as I've spent a good portion of my working life dealing with potentially hazardous materials and environments.

If you have a window near your printer you could just use an AC window vent.

my CAI kit is this one, http://www.amazon.com/94-01-Dodge-1500-2500-Intake/dp/B0041P6WK2/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1376148660&sr=8-9&keywords=cold+air+intake+dodge+ram+1500 dont look like much but it will flow way better than the stock box even with a K&N ive had it on mine for over a year and love it.

u/spicypancakes · 2 pointsr/infiniti

I have the K&N for an intake. It's fine. Honestly, no real difference. People seem to like the Takeda for a real CAI. The RC2 and the K&N are more ram air systems. Haven't heard too much on the tunes, but generally they're not too worth it unless you've done a bit of upgrades. Infiniti has done a fine job of safely tuning the engine to get the maximum power out of it.

u/sanimalp · 8 pointsr/auto

AEM makes a CAI bypass valve so if the end of the intake is submerged, the valve opens to bypass the intake higher up where it is (hopefully) not submerged.

The cheapest route is to buy an intake on ebay, then measure the filter it comes with, throw it away, and use the K&N measurement chart to determine what K&N filter is the correct sized replacement part and order that filter. I would guess that route will cost you ~$100 or so, and some time doing research.

You have a MAJOR problem if you live in California and a few other states though, which is that the replacement intake must be carb legal to be driven on the street. Nearly no intakes on ebay are carb legal, and the ones that are include ones some built by AEM and some Injen varieties.

At the end of the day, the cheapest, sure fire thing that won't take a lot of time and fit correctly and securely and is high quality and Carb Legal and look nice and properly engineered to actually work is to just buy the AEM piece. AEM part number 22-417B is likely what you want, and its $121 on amazon, sold by amazon.

Otherwise, if you want to spend the money, the AEM 24-6017C cold air intake and bypass valve will cost you $300.

This was the cold air <--The page says for the ST, would this even be compatible with my SE(update: K&n website says it is)

And this is the performance

In theory i'd like whatever makes it louder, but if one is better vs another, i'd want to hear the options

  • Youtube videos are your friend for sure. With limited mechanical knowledge and this basic tool set like this one you can easily do the cabin air filter, engine air filter, MAF sensor and thorttle body cleaning and replace the spark plugs.

  • If you're feeling a little more confident replacing the engine coolant IMO is no harder than an oil change. All you would need extra is a floor jack and jack stands.

  • The drive belt is also easy after you've done it once but the first time can be challenging. If you've never done any type of maintenance I would leave this one to the pros it shouldn't be too expensive.

  • The transmission fluid is easy if the drain bolt is accessible (it should be on this persons car). You just need to drain and refill (refill to the full line when the car is warmed up and running). Then after 5000 miles repeat the drain and refill. Done.

  • The shocks and struts are a little harder. Items can be hard to remove and bolts stripped or overtighten; this is best left to seasoned hand. Plus it's a pain in the ass and requires more expensive tools (torque wrench, box wrenches, pry bars, heavy hammers, spring compressors). I do recommend to bring your own parts to the mechanic. A full set of top of the line KYB shocks and mounts will only cost you $350 at rockauto.com. This will only leave labor which should cost anywhere from $300-$500.

I've done a cowl intake, using this kit: https://www.amazon.com/Spectre-Performance-9948-Intake-Cherokee/dp/B005M1ZBGA/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8

Spectre isn't making it right now, iirc they were working on redoing it. That was several years ago, so who knows. I love this kit, got it after I was above the headlights in water and hydrolocked. I don't like the look of snorkels so this was fine for me.

u/Mooolelo · 1 pointr/FordFocus

is there a significant difference between a drop in and a CAI? i know my car (2012 SEL, 2 liter) wants to breath move. 30$ for a drop in K&N filter is a lot different than a 300$ CAI. https://www.amazon.com/Performance-Intake-69-3517TS-Lifetime-Non-Turbo/dp/B00861C6LQ 10 hp seems like a big gain for just a new intake. realistic, or marketing?

u/AAron2158 · 1 pointr/Charger

I know people have mixed feelings on these but I installed one of these into mine and it definitely makes it louder and gives it a deeper growl when accelerating.

Air duct mount might be what you're looking for.

It's used to mount flexible fiberglass duct to the bottom of trailers from a central unit.

Example: http://www.amazon.com/Spectre-Performance-8148-Mounting-Plate/dp/B000BPUTL4

Edit: Just noticed that one was plastic. They also come in galvanized steel, aluminum, and stainless.

Edit 2: Just realized that was a part from a car and pretty small. My fault for screwing around on reddit so late. If it's something bigger than that, but still smallish, the duct mount for a dryer (clothes) might work. If it's big (Like 8-12"), you'll probably have to get the collar/sheet and fit them together, or if it doesn't have to be completely flat, a register box might work.

u/TehCyberJunkie · 2 pointsr/ToyotaTacoma

I purchased and installed this: https://www.amazon.com/Performance-Intake-63-9039-Lifetime-Filter/dp/B01IB1HH46/

The whole thing took me about an hour and a half to install, the instructions were better than Ikea (which aren't bad), and the entire mod is reversible if necessary.

Note: it's noticeably louder in the cabin (and outside) when you 'git after it' on the throttle. I find myself downshifting instead of honking when it's "safe" to choose.

ARB SS172HP Safari Snorkel Intake Kit https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N20HBS9/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_JZ5-BbJZ8G8CJ

You can just call it an intake snorkel. If you are driving though high water, one of the week points would be your engines air intake. Mainly, because if that slurps water your engine is good as done. The snorkel takes that point and raises it much higher so your car can take on much higher waters than it would otherwise.

u/lagatron · 1 pointr/microgrowery

i wouldnt, because if you do that less air will flow through the light. its going to travel through the path of least resistance. i'd personally use the led's in the beginning anyway.

also it looks like you'd need one of these

i bought this one for my 2017 LE 2.0 cvt it sounds and looks cool is all.

they changed the shape of the MAF sensor from 2015, 16 and 17 i think from what i heard

u/Qlanger · 2 pointsr/MechanicAdvice

I take it no engine lights? Tire pressure ok? Did you change tires or brakes recently? Any mods done (k&n filter?)?

I would say could be winter gas and tire pressure but not sure if FL gets winter gas or not and temps have not dropped that much there.

Also check for vacuum leaks, spray out the throttle body with cleaner, and clean the MAF sensor with proper MAF cleaner. I have seen k&n filters dirty the MAF sensor up and cause issues.

I got this guy right here - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00B90NGBK/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_TeZRub1BHQW7X

  • It will require modifications to work though on a 97+, I didn't have the time to do it so I gave it to my mechanic and he did a fantastic job of installing it. Essentially what mods you'll need to make is -

  1. Fabricate a cover for the old intake, the one provided doesn't work.

  2. Modify where the snorkel enters the fender, the washer fluid bottle is in the way on 97+

  3. Cut a hole in the back of the airbox, and put the new tube in through that, rather than the factory intake.

I have specific directions in a .PDF, PM me your email if you'd like them.

I have a 2001 Toyota Camry and I just had to replace my resonator. The part number was 17890-0311. The cheapest one I was able to find was on Amazon

u/wordstrappedinmyhead · 1 pointr/CherokeeXJ

Yeah, it's the Spectre Performance 9948 Air Intake Kit for Jeep Cherokee 4.0L. I picked it up locally from Craigslist early on after I bought my XJ, was one of the first handful of mods I did. It uses the Spectre Performance HPR9833 Air Filter. Fits over the valve cover with no issues.
