I love the suggestions for a shower stool. I didn't know those existed, either, and with a small space, they look like a total game changer!

Here are some everyday bath items that, in addition to the stool, can help you conserve energy and stay safe throughout your shower routine. You probably have most or all of these items, but I figured I'd list them just in case. (Links go to whatever turned up on Amazon and looked reasonable; I haven't tried them out myself or researched them.)

Handheld showerhead: It helps a ton with minimizing movement (and also not getting the dreaded blast of cold water when you switch from the tap to the shower which is no small potatoes).

Back scrubber: Wet it down, rub a little soap on it, and bam! You have an energy-conserving way to scrub hard-to-reach places and a back scratcher! (Also available with those mesh-puff things instead of a brush if you want to be gentler on your skin.)

Suction cup hooks: Hang your long-handled scrubber, your washcloths, whatever you want.

Washcloths with loops: Keep them at arm-level on your suction cup hooks and you're ready to go. If you don't want to buy new washcloths, you could buy some fabric remnants or foldover elastic for cheap at a big-box craft store and make loops for your existing washcloths instead.

Shower basket with suction cups: I like these better than those shower caddies you hang over the shower head because you don't get pelted in the face with water when you're reaching for things and you can place these within easy reach.

Suction cup soap dish: Again, you can put this at whatever height you want and never have to worry about having to lean over to reach for soap again.

Wall-mounted dispenser: If you're not into bar soap or bottles, you can use this guy to hold body wash, shampoo, and conditioner instead. (I don't know how much of a hassle they are to refill, though.)

Reacher: The classic! If you've dropped your washcloth, you don't have to stress your body by bending to pick it up. Just make sure you get a length that'll work for you in your shower or that thing'll turn into more hazard than help.

Lastly, I gotta ask if you'd consider having grab bars installed for safety. If you have difficulty going from sitting to standing, it sounds like using a shower stool would be helpful, but might come with its own issues, and I want you to be safe. There are some suction cup grab bars out there, but man, I don't trust those things. A little bit of soap scum or something builds up near one of the suction cups and it's Bad News Bears.

If you have an occupational therapist, this would be a perfect thing to discuss with them! Seriously, they live for that kind of thing. :)

Oh boy, I hear you on the partner not putting stuff away LOL Everyday I am cleaning and tidying up. And I think this sub is a great place to ask these kinda questions, though I'm pretty new to it myself :)

- If you haven't already, I would recommend first donating or getting rid of things you don't need, use, want, or have an attachment to. That will make things much easier to work with before the next suggestions.

- Above the dresser (if you're not going to move it) is a good opportunity to install some wall shelves to put books and/or other knick knacks. Or books on top of the dresser and a more "narrow" shelving unit for knick knacks.

- If you're going to move the dresser and clothes rack, I would recommend this or the above linked shelf unit or a combination of it all to hold your skincare and makeup. This lady from Etsy makes some pretty cool wall mounted makeup holders.

If glare won't be an issue for the computer, maybe some wall mirrors, too, to brighten the area. The most common complaint I see about these kind of mirrors is that they don't stick, so you may need to buy some glue. (I've bought gold hexagonal ones to place on the table itself and going to buy larger ones for the wall possibly.)

- Replace the wicker chair with a stool / small ottoman with storage. Might help with the contents of the tub.

- A rotating makeup organizerto hold the things you use quite often. I have a "gold" / glass one myself.

- Maybe a mounted hair dryer holder, shelf, and/or bin to install on the side of the table to hold brushes, hair dryer, etc. I plan on doing this for my vanity table.

- If you are not attached to it to the standing swivel mirror on the table, I would get a wall mount version that you can attach to the other side of the table to free up some desk space... and it'll also help balance if you're installing the shelf / tote on the other side.

I don't know the dimensions of your table, so I'm guestimating whether or not the mounting area of these products are small enough for the edges of your vanity table.

- Corner shelf for behind / above the computer workstation. White to blend in with the wall, so it feels more spacious. I would paint the computer desk white or get a white one to aid in that effect.

- On the above note, I wouldn't paint the small table in the middle of the room, it blends in with the floor nicely. I like the stain / finish on the dresser and am afraid painting it white, while helping with the spacious effect, might cheapen its look in this particular case.

Those are all the suggestions I can think of, hopefully they weren't all fluff, but they're things I'd do or am doing. Best of luck, looking forward to an update whether or not I see the suggestions into play, I love remodels / reorganizing.

u/danny0wnz · 2 pointsr/xboxone

I was looking for something similar for a while. I ended up getting 3M command strips, and using those to attach to a cut piece of over-door hook that worked surprisingly well. Clear too so not really noticeable and mountable just about anywhere. If you needed a pic I could get one for you. Also 3M has a spice tray that works pretty well for a standard controller but not so much on an elite. If you shop around they should have something that would accommodate an Xbox one controller nicely by now..

Edit: I know from experience that these work pretty well. The medium size holds a ps4 controller nicely, as it's a bit more slim-lined. I would think the large would be close to perfect for an X1 controller. I can also provide a pic of the medium size of you need it.

Something like this or this could work. The reason I went this route is so I wouldn't have to drill into the walls, and easily moveable as I move my room around often. Good luck

Sad thing is, all of this is 100% more than possible with our technology but nobody's invested in making us that comfortable T_T

Real talk tho, the blog Not Done Living has great advice for us bedridden folks!

I've found that having a day bed or recliner plus night bed helps a ton, and keeping a [multi-layer cart](3-Tier Utility Rolling Cart with Large Storage and Metal Wheels for Office,Kitchen,Bedroom,Bathroom,Black 130839 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DD9B6WP/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_AyFnDbPCXE0QS) next to you to store all the things is very useful.

Make sure the cart is somewhat heavy-- I made the mistake of first getting a very cheap light one, but you can't hang anything from it. For the one I linked above, which I saved up and got eventually, I use a [cloth hanging pocket](Surblue Caddy Hanging Organizer Bedside Storage Bag for Bunk and Hospital Beds, Dorm Rooms Bed Rails(8 Pockets) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XWN5CVF/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_sAFnDb7CD99XB) to hang my laptop and small things like pens (I just had to cut a small fabric divider in the inside) and some [hanging organizer trays](2Pack Dormitory Bedside Storage Baskets, YIFAN Mesh Origanizer Caddy for Books Phones Drinks Office Home Table Hanging Organizer Desktop Corner Shelves - Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0714HTQ9H/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_hBFnDbFAR3P8P) for extra storage.

It actually helps a ton to have more stuff in arms reach, and keeps your lap and chair/bed less cluttered. For my bed, I have a cheap metal four poster thing, with bars connecting the posts. Not weight bearing, but good enough to hang a [few things](mDesign Metal Wire Cabinet/Wall Mount Hair Care & Styling Tool Organizer - Bathroom Storage Basket for Hair Dryer, Flat Iron, Curling Wand, Hair Straightener, Brushes - Holds Hot Tools - Bronze https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074JCKXFF/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_HCFnDb36WJH90) from bungee cords.

Then just attached a medicine cabinet to the wall by my bed, though honestly they get full so fast. >< I need to get rid of all the old meds I don't use.

The number one thing is to set up a network of people. They can be old coworkers, his friends, her friends, family members, church members, neighbors, paid caregivers, who knows maybe boy scouts that need a badge, to give respite care. This can be sitting with them and chatting while you do laundry in the other room, taking them for icecream, letting you go to the doctor yourself, run errands, or just sit with them while you bang you head against the wall. Set them up before you need them, I have one person stop by once a week at least. I try to make it be around the same day/time so I can plan to take "me time" while they are there. This week I went for a massage, last week I took a nap. If you don't take care of yourself you will snap.

Bed alarms are great! They also make matts you can sneak under the carpet by the front door to prevent wandering.

I find making my day easier gives me more time to care properly which in turn makes my day easier! I do this by automating things when I can. I use one of these so I only have to sort pills once a week and can't forget a dose because of a minor catastrophe.

Ivation Automatic Pill Dispenser, https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FL620B0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awd_JcKAwbXNQMT9X

I bought a good shower bench and shower wand to make shower time easier on me, as well as a wall based shampoo soap and conditioner dispenser so I don't have to fiddle with bottles. Something like this:

I love this help button!!!!!
LogicMark Freedom Alert Emergency Alert System -https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002IMW8O4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awd_ekKAwbHQ5JNY6

It works like a cordless home phone and has to be connected to a landline. You don't pay a monitor fee like most. You program it to call 4 numbers in order and then can choose to have it call 911 if the 4 people don't answer. I have it call me twice and the hired caregiver twice. When you answer it tells you it's and emergency and asks you to accept the call by pressing 5 so it isn't tricked by voicemail. It reaches way further than expected and you can speak to them through a mic and speaker in the button!

I also have to say that YouTube and Netflix are good too. Is he reminiscing about a certain time period? Pull up YouTube and find a documentary or news reel. Pull up Netflix and find an old film! Also for some reason my household can watch Simons cat animations for hours just laughing.

I put an iPad mounted to the wall by his bed. The tv was too hard for him to use and he lost the remote constantly , but you can lock a iPad into "guided access" meaning it won't do anything but the app it's in when you start it. I lock it in Netflix and start a movie at bedtime and he happily goes to bed instead of complaining he is not tired (even though he was just snoring in his chair). He can use it easily because you just tap the movie you want to watch. (He just chooses from the few he can see on the screen as he's not great at navigating)

In another way to make my day easier I got a automatic pet feeder and pay to have groceries delivered (thanks Safeway!) I use the app for my pharmacy to help me keep track of refills.

Just a few things (from experience):

u/hyoostin · 9 pointsr/Bass

This will seem kind of trivial, but I absolutely LOVE my SwirlyGig.

If you play at bars and don't have one, get one. I've seen guys short out their amps mid show from putting their beer on top of their amp and it spilling. I've seen guys put it by their pedals and think that it won't get knocked over onto their pedals and make the floor all sticky all night.

I love me some SwirlyGig.

u/starfishe · 3 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Wow guys, thank you so much for this fantastic contest!! If I could dream, it would be this bistro set for my deck so I can sit outside this summer - theres nothing out there now And for under $20 would have to be this little organizer for either my bathroom or makeup. Now, C'mon...gimme

Thanks again, you guys are fantastic :)

u/rightfootedglove · 3 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I have done it, I actually added This and was lucky enough to be gifted it by the awesome /u/jehc76. I also added a pair of portable chopsticks that the amazing /u/funnyjk gave me and i use like once every other day.

Edit: And I just added that dalek mug because daleks are awesome!

u/DeyCallMeTater · 3 pointsr/AskWomen

Whoa. They are upselling like crazy! No to etsy for this! That's too expensive. Are you in Canada? If so, here's a link to the Container Store drawers via Amazon CA

How many bags does she have? And how big are they? Like maybe standard pouches? You might only need something like two of those and maybe one of these. She could have the drawers put side by side, and then place that on top for lipsticks. Then maybe one of something like this to put her brushes in (without the lid). I ended up actually using cleaned out candle jars! I just used the candles until they were burnt out, then emptied out the remaining wax and store my brushes in there. It looks great. Here's an example of the jar...but seriously don't pay this much

u/PenPenGuin · 2 pointsr/LifeProTips

I purchased this a while back (same idea, but with magnets!) It's actually pretty neat.

I just started using Lullaby and was surprised at how much lather I got! I was not expecting it at all. My hair honestly felt cleaner longer throughout the day and even in to the next day. I love the smell of it. I know a lot of people have problems with drying them but I keep mine in a leftover (small) black lush pot. I put it in when I get done and set it on my sink while I get ready. Then before I leave I flip the bar so the other side can dry some more. Some people use soap savers but I've not personally tried it!

edit: new link, spelling

u/Saraswatispock · 2 pointsr/ZeroWaste

Soap in the shower or sink? On my sink I have a little soap saver like this- S & T Soap Saver Bundle, 0.19 Pound https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0784BGSZ1/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_ZaNJAbFBMPA1Q It works really well, haven't had any issues. Though, if you don't wash it at least every couple weeks, it doesn't work as well because it gets clogged with soap. But I literally rinse it for thirty second and that's it.

In the shower I have my body soap in a little terrycloth bag that hangs. I just make sure to squeeze it as much as possible, like for real squeeze it, and it lasts without mildewing for the life of a bar of soap. I just wash the pouch in between bars.

u/SSK144 · 1 pointr/LushCosmetics

I keep my Movis on one of these "soap saver" dishes but anything similar that allows water to drain away would work (they're fantastic for shampoo bars too!). I took a chunk when I was traveling once and kept it in an enclosed soap holder; it got mushy and fell apart within a week. As long as it's able to dry out I haven't had any issues.

u/drithius · 1 pointr/Trackballs

That's part of the reason I preferred the Huge over the Deft Pro. You can try some rubber lid openers for the placement issues. Something like https://www.amazon.com/Chuangdi-Rubber-Jar-Gripper-Pads/dp/B07FLM3YSF?ref_=fsclp_pl_dp_3

u/SirDitamus · 1 pointr/awfuleverything

This is amazing. If this is real then I’m buying one right now.

Edit: it is. Here is the link. Stocking stuffers!

u/MadtownMaven · 2 pointsr/TrollXChromosomes

Rubber jar grippers. You can also usually find them at the dollar store. Research university biosafety EHS person here. These would be legal in most all our labs because you can spray them down to decontaminate them with whatever cleaner you're approved to use in your lab.

^^^^AUTOMOD The following is a copy of the above post. This comment is a record of the above post as it was originally written, in case the post is deleted or edited.

I spent two years in grad school where I met a friend (George). He and I started dating a couple of mutual friends and everyone got along great. Both of our GFs graduated a year before us and moved out of state, but we were all able to make our distance situations work out.

George moved to NYC and my GF and I moved to a big southern city for work. George's GF had ended up in Texas but put in a transfer request to move up to be with him, which was granted a few months later. She took her U-Haul through our city and stayed with us for a night, not knowing he had planned a surprise and flew down to meet us all for dinner and to finish the trip with her.

In the months leading up to that night, my GF was receiving all sorts of weird items in the mail. First it was a liquid soap dispenser in the shape of a nose. Weird, but when she called Amazon to ask about the item, they confirmed the purchase was done with her account. I have a friend who drunkenly buys things and I figured maybe she had stumbled on it one night and didn't remember buying it, so we brushed it off. A few weeks later, she received a religious book, then a few weeks later a large order of communion wafers. Amazon was great in shutting the account down and letting her return these items, but it didn't make sense why they were coming to us.

So George comes down to surprise his GF and asks us about the items. We never told him we were receiving them, so he and his GF bust up laughing. Apparently my GF never logged out of her account on his iPad years ago, so he was able to purchase random things and let us deal with the confusion. We thought it was hilarious and warned them that we would have to get them back at some point.

Fast forward a few more months and we go to NYC for a weekend. George and his GF were kind enough (but also naive enough) to let us stay in their apartment. The last morning of our trip, we left these noise makers in a few places (one in a drawer with pots and pans, another behind the fridge, and one more on the back of an empty box in their closet). We heard them going off before we left, so we got out of there as hastily as we could.

12 hours later, I get a phone call from George:

"Where the fuck is the evil tron?" Me, feigning ignorance, "I don't know which one that is, we hid so many."

At that point, he sort of lost his mind. He demanded to talk to my GF and then called her a few names that I won't repeat here. He yelled at me that "his home is his sanctuary" and how we had crossed a major line for him. In my eyes, it was a harmless prank that should have been laughed off, but to him this was friendship-ending type betrayal. I don't agree, but obviously if I was certain I wouldn't be here. AITA?

different states (and often different counties) have different rules about drinking on the job as a bartender. Frederick County publishes their liquor code here

On page 51, it says:

> No licensee or employee shall consume any alcoholic beverages anywhere at the establishment, including the area behind the bar, while on duty.

Likewise, live bands are prohibited from drinking while on stage.

When I lived in Texas, we'd drink with bartenders all the time, and when I was in a band, I had a special mic stand attachment so that I could booze it up while playing :D

I know the Osma doesn't come in a plastic box, but make sure to leave it out in the open to dry properly after each use. Your old block looks like it was kept in a damp container a lot given it's very irregular shape.

I use a small "soap saver" to keep my Osma block on so that it can dry on all sides after use.
