I'm no professional, but I've spent some time researching this subject, and lurking in the skincaretalk forums lightening community. There's a lot of noise to filter through, but I managed to find a few things that worked for me in getting rid of my own perma farmer's tan.

The first, and most important step of getting rid of a perma tan is SAP (Sun Avoidance and Protection). This literally cannot be emphasized enough, and aside from getting rid of a perma tan it's good for your skin's overall health. It looks like you've taken steps toward this, so snaps for you. Though it tends to leave a white cast, physical sunscreens (containing titanium dioxide and zinc oxide) are the best choice if you want to protect your progress, and prevent yourself from tanning again. Unless you're sitting directly in a sunbeam while you're inside, or in the path of direct reflections of sun, I wouldn't worry about sunscreen while inside. I personally wear long sleeves and sunscreen to combat against incidental sun exposure on the daily. If I know I'm going to be outside for more than a few minutes I have a UV umbrella that I use to protect against the sun. Do I look silly? Probably, but at least my skin won't look like an antique football when I'm older

As for actually getting rid of the tan, the first phase should be exfoliation, which it seems you've already started on. Look for products with AHAs like glycolic or lactic acid. Some readily available options you can buy at walgreens/CVS are Alpha Skincare Body lotion (12% glycolic) or Amlactin (12% lactic). The sidebar has recommendations on products more suitable for facial use if you'd prefer a gel or liquid option for this purpose. Do this for 6-8 weeks, and if your tan doesn't budge then add in active lightening ingredients into your routine.

Another user already mentioned some lightening ingredients to look for, and all these serve the purpose of inhibiting your melanin production and shouldn't make you lighter than whatever your lightest natural skin tone is. I personally used Kojie-San soap (containing Kojic acid) with a Salux cloth to great success on my body. I haven't used it, but I've heard Marie France soap has a higher concentration of acid and thus works more quickly than kojie-san. I used a combination of dermatologist prescribed Retin A and 4% hydroquinone on my face and neck, as the soap was too drying to use on my face. I have friends and relatives who have used Maxipeel #3 (which contains both Retin A and hydroquinone) successfully to get rid of their own face/neck tan, as well as acne scars as a bonus. Kojie-San, Marie France and Maxipeel are Filipino products, but in general, lightening products from Asian countries tend to be more trustworthy than products you may find from sub-Saharan African countries, which in my experience and research, stand a larger chance of having steroids in them. Wherever they are from, if you go for foreign products be sure to do your due diligence on the product itself and wherever you're getting it from. Amazon is usually a safe bet, but check the reviews.

There are some American creams available at the drugstore containing hydroquinone Ambi, with 2% hydroquinone, and Nadinola with 3% hydroquinone, the highest you can get commercially without a prescription in America), though without Retin A, these percentages will be largely ineffective for your purposes.

Getting rid of a perma tan will be a commitment, and progress will be slow, but as long as you are consistent and practice SAP, you'll get there.

I've had KP since I was a kid and am finally getting handle on it in my 30s. My current routine is glycolic lotion twice a day, creams on the affected areas 3-4 times a day, and then physical exfoliation and using zinc or sulfur soap a couple times a week to keep the bumps at bay. But since skincare is YMMV, here's the exhaustive list of almost two decades of treatment, in case some of these other things will work for you!

100% of the items can be purchased via Amazon in the US - it's pretty much the only way I shop.

Beginner Level

If your KP has just appeared, focus on physical+chemical exfoliation and moisturizing. Look for lotions with the following ingredients:

For around 10 years now! I haven't perfected anything, and ymmv as always, but here's what I've found and tried

  • Exfoliating wash cloths are a must! The first one I tried was one I found at Marshalls called the Cleanlogic stretch bath and shower cloth. It's on Amazon for $5.50 with Prime, but I got it for $4 at Marshalls. I had been looking for something like this for a while because of how much people rave about Korean Italy towels and Japanese Salux Towels, but I just hadn't pulled the trigger yet. The Cleanlogic is really great. I get a good lather going, then really scrape at my arms and legs (probably start slow and be careful because depending how hard you rub and how hot you like your showers, the water may burn), and use it more gently on the rest of my body. Shave right after. No more razor burn, the kp on my legs are totally gone, and I have only one or two new bumps on my arms. A couple days ago I finally bought a Salux towel (at Mitsuwa for cheaper than Amazon) and it's also fantastic. A little gentler if anything and it doesn't stretch, but same idea. Haven't tried the Italy towels yet.
  • Acids work for some people I use Stridex in the red box, and any leftover Mizon 8% AHA after I use them on my face. I used the Stridex for a while before I got the cloths and I think I saw some difference, but the washcloth was way more dramatic. Because of the order I tried these in, I can't honestly tell if the AHA did much for me. Other people seem to love AHA lotions like Amlactin and Alpha Hydrox, but a lot of formulations may be less effective because of pH level. Paula's Choice is a good resource for vetting AHA lotions. Also be careful with AHAs because they can increase photosensitivity. When you do start showing your legs, use sunscreen if you've been AHA-ing.
  • There is no perfect solution I've scoured the internet and everywhere says the same thing. Keratosis pilaris could be related to genetics, hormones, age, friction from clothes, pore blockage, sun exposure (helps or hurts depending who you ask), weather, and/or God. It's gonna be an ongoing thing until they're ready to leave.

So I've managed to limit the new bumps for now, but the PIH from KP is real. I'm casually experimenting with vitamin c and retinol (on different nights or with at least 30 minutes between application), but I think it's gonna take time. Niacinamide is also supposed to help so I sometimes sprinkle some of my Scinic Honey AIO. Let me know if you do find something that works for this because I hate it!

Looks like you've already gotten some good advice, but I have a little more to add on a few of your items.

Sugar Scrub recipes? / How to remove dry skin? / How to eliminate the Red Bump Syndrome after shaving? Just get a Salux cloth and exfoliate with that (plus a little body wash) in the shower. It is MAGIC for exfoliation! I used to get the red bumps pretty bad but now I just exfoliate before shaving and I have no problems. Also, replace the blades in your razor when they start to get dull.

Ways to cure acne? This varies from person to person, but /r/SkincareAddiction is AMAZING. I wash with Cerave foaming cleanser, use their PM moisturizer (plus sunscreen during the day), make sure to wash my face AFTER brushing my teeth, and avoid touching my face much. This prevents a lot of zits for me. The ones I do get are poked with a clean lancet after washing my face and then covered with a hydrocolloid bandage.

How to whiten my smile? / bleach my hair? I saw you mention you have issues with pool chlorine--as a chemist, I feel I should inform you that commercial teeth whitening strips contain carbamate peroxide as the whitening agent and not chlorine bleach (NaClO). Similarly, bleach meant for hair is also peroxide-based. Big difference! Might want to see if they work for you, since they don't contain the chemical that was causing you problems.

Nail Care Tips THESE VITAMINS ARE MAGIC. My nails get pretty long without breaking now, and I'm really rough on my hands. They taste like candy, too. Should also be good for hair and skin!

Exercise routines...? Go learn how to lift heavy things properly. Seriously. New Rules of Lifting for Women is not a bad starting point for a total beginner. Heavy lifting has given me loads of confidence, kickass thighs, an awesome butt, and even visible abs at one point. Lifting will build muscle, which provides a nice frame even if you have extra bodyfat...how much bodyfat you carry also depends on your diet, which /r/xxfitness can help you figure out. Once you figure out what works for you, sustainably, diet and activity-wise, you actually have a great deal of control over how your body looks. (It turns out I like chocolate more than I like seeing my abs most of the time, but if I miss them and I want them visible for a while, I now know that about 1800-2000 cal/day with a high training volume will do that.) Endless cardio is not necessary if you are like me and you hate running...I only do naked cardio :D Do find an activity you love and will stick with, and make sure you get enough sleep. Don't cut calories to 1200/day and run yourself to death, it will screw up your metabolism for years and make it way harder to lean out.

Good ways to stop Cramps, or at least help make them lighter and less painful. If they're debilitating, see your gynecologist--a medical condition could be the problem. As an endometriosis sufferer, I'm on a Pill that's designed to give only four periods a year, but I take it continuously, so I don't have periods at all. That's not for everyone, but it does help a lot to start taking ibuprofen a week before your period and continue taking it (at the recommended interval, something like every 6 hours I think) until the cramping stops. Also, invest in a good heating pad. They work very, very well.

My sister died and my brother had a nervous breakdown in my early pregnancy, so I'm no stranger to stress! Just remember, babies are born in much worse circumstances. Your baby isn't going to come into the world addicted to drugs or malnourished. You're giving your baby the nutrition and love he/she needs, and you're bringing your baby into a loving family. There is so much emphasis placed on emotional health during pregnancy, but we're still humans. We don't get a bubble with the positive pregnancy test. Life continues, stress still happens. Babies have issues whether their moms were stressed during pregnancy or not. Granted, I will probably feel guilty about every little problem she has, but I will forgive myself for being stressed during pregnancy, and you will need to, too.

I can't say that I handled stress well early on, but I feel like I'm doing okay now, so here's my advice:

  1. Get a deep water tub thing and take baths once a week. I've never been a bath person before getting that because I'm 5'8" and don't really fit in tubs, but that thing is a game changer. I always talk to my baby during baths. She doesn't move, but it's our special time.

  2. Journal. I know it's cliched, but do it. Write letters to your baby, write your own feelings, doodle, draw, find a way to get your stress out of yourself.

  3. Breathe. Sit somewhere comfortable, play relaxing music, and breathe in through your nose for the count of 4, and out through your mouth for the count of 8. Deep refreshing breaths in, everything else goes out. Do it for at least 10 minutes.

  4. Find a way to be active. Do prenatal exercise videos on youtube, go on walks, do something. It really does make you feel better.

  5. Talk to your husband. You know that moment in rom coms when you want to yell at the screen, "Just tell her why you didn't come!" and you feel like it's ridiculous because no one would be that bad at communication in real life? You might be having one of those moments right now. My DH and I have had a few of them during pregnancy, and once we talked about things, we found that we were usually on the same page. Maybe your husband would love to move back east, but thinks it'd be too much for you. Maybe you're having mixed feelings about being a SAHM, and he is too. Maybe he thinks you should talk to your mom about everything, he doesn't feel like he needs to be your only emotional support. Sit down and have a heart to heart. Tell him that you know how hard he's working to get a job, and that you love him so much for it. Share your hopes, fears, and stress with him. You're committed for better or worse. This is just some worse. It'll get better.

I hope some of those help! Sending much love! -M

Bialetti - stove top espresso maker - you'll never need to buy an expensive coffee maker ever again.

Leuchterm 1917 journal for my bullet journal

6in Ruler to go with my journal - fits in the back pocket perfectly

Huhuhero Color Pen Set also to go with my journal -- has every color you'll need and has a really nice thickness. I use a finer tipped Staedtler for writing but these pens are perfect for titles and decorating and under $6 can't be beat

Customizable dog tag

Ahava Dead Sea Bath Salts - for a luxurious bath that won't dry you out

Ramekins for all of your baking needs. It's also fantastic to use for cooking (holding onto spices, separating eggs, etc.) and for serving dips.

Dog Toy Basket - adorable, holds a ton of toys, and looks really chic in my apartment.

Salt and Pepper Mill Grinders - pretty and functional

Bath Overflow Cover - get your water higher for a more satisfying bath

Bath Spa Pillow

Grippy Stand - the BEST stand for any size tablet.. I have two of them they're so good

Hotel Spa Cotton Towel 4 Pack - smallish bath towel with so many uses. I leave then by the front door to wipe the pup's paws.

Popin Cookin 9 Pack - the MOST FUN you'll ever have 9 times over

Tons and tons and tons of books - look under the "available for less money" links for "used" paperback versions that will make them super affordable and they usually come nearly brand new!

Few ideas:

  • colourful bathbomb like blue or pink that turns the water a different color. bubbles are fun too but that’s just an idea for an alternative
  • even for solo baths, I can’t recommend an overflow drain cover hard enough. I cannot have a bath without one now, just way more relaxing with more water. Though if you do this for your sexy bath, definitely have some towels around the tub in case all that extra water spills over when you get moving
  • candles of course. as many as possible without causing a fire hazard =P personally I put them on the counter and away from the bath itself so I don’t knock them over or get burnt accidentally
  • music. make a playlist for whatever mood you want and set it on low on repeat. Doesn’t have to be a big focus like “hey I made this sexy playlist for us” just in the background so it’s not completely silent. Though the quiet is really romantic too sometimes if the rest of your house is quiet. Just hearing the water sounds
  • maybe a space heater if you have one and it’s not too obnoxious. I end up taking long baths and the water cools off too quickly if I don’t have a heater
  • glasses of chilled champagne, wine, sparkling water, or whatever your preference. It’s romantic but also a lifesaver for a long hot bath
  • I don’t know if this one is just me being weird and specific, but,,, a wash cloth? Lol I don’t know, personally I find it sexier washing my partner down with a washcloth and soap rather than a loofah. more intimate. Or hell, just go for soap and bare hands xD
  • fresh fluffy towels and robes or comfy clothes to jump into afterwards if you decide to get dressed =P

Face masks! My favorite at home mask is honey and crushed banana. Makes your skin feel super smooth plus you can eat the leftovers.

Once a week I deep exfoliate and then moisturize my entire body with one of these. They're cheap and they leave my skin baby dolphin smooth.

https://www.amazon.com/pcs-Asian-Exfoliating-Bath-Washcloth/dp/B004C8DR1U/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?crid=36E12CLARSC6U&keywords=korean+scrubbing+mitt&qid=1554829779&s=gateway&sprefix=korean+sc&sr=8-4

Nails and eyebrows can make a huge difference. Take some time for maintenance. I always feel put together after I have my nails and brows done.

Drink plenty of water

Cut down on alcohol!

Hit the gym hard! I feel amazing after a great workout.

Sunscreen!!!! Skincare is essential! your dermis is the largest "organ" you have! Moisturize more than just your face! Take care of your hands, neck, and chest!

Hot herbal teas really add something extra to my down time.

Make sure your cloths fit. I find really great pieces at thrift stores and have them tailored so they fit. My four dollar blazer is from the loft and fits like a glove.

Meal planning I'm less frazzled when I don't have to worry about what I'm going to eat on top of everything else. Plus it saves you money and makes it easier to eat healthy.

Take care of your feet and titties by investing in quality bras and shoes, your back will thank you later.

When it comes to makeup only highlight one main feature at a time. Going bold on eyes? Go more natural/neutral with your lips. And vice versa.

I bought something similar to those light stands, but didn't like them....they "cut" into your roomscale zone, and they can not be as sturdy as you really want them to be (the lighthouses shouldn't move even the slightest bit).

I kept them for when i take my vive somewhere else and use as a portable solution. After some research, I use these now and love them...

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00F3B4YPS/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

and for actually holding the lighthouse onto the pole...

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CSMCPKQ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

those are totally metal, and worth the slight extra price compared to plastic ones (but you could probably save a little money with the plastic ones).

those poles are great and easy to move too!

hope it helps, and you made the right choice w/ vive, it's the superior HMD by far.

Hey there, I've got all kinds of eccentric natural beauty/health products that I can suggest:

I don't use body soap at all -- I just scrub in the shower with an asian washcloth.

I do use soap on my hands, as they're exposed to all sorts of yucky stuff and then I touch food and other people. For soap, I use Dr. Bronner's. I also use it as body wash if I get something unusually gross on my body (engine oil, for example).

For deodorant, I use one of those crystals. I like this one just cause it's shaped like regular deodorant.

I make my own lotion with shea butter and jojoba oil from Amazon. I weigh out 70g of shea butter and 30g of jojoba oil in a bowl and melt them in the microwave. Then I mix them up and put the bowl in the fridge for a few minutes to cool. I use an electric mixer to mix the lotion and then put it back in the fridge for another few minutes. Eventually, the lotion cools to the point where I can whip it (kind of like whipping cream). I also add some essential oils once it's cooled but still fairly liquid (coconut and lemon is my current jam) so that takes care of perfume :)

For toothpaste, I actually use tooth powder. (It's also good for the whole TSA nonsense.) There are a bunch of brands, Ecodent, for example.

I'm including some product links, just so you can see what I'm talking about. I haven't purchased that particular brand of shea butter, but it looks nice :) You might try going down to your local health food/hippie store and see what kind of products they have in their beauty section. My local store has stuff like soap, shampoo, and conditioner in bulk, so you can buy just a bit and try it out to see if it works for you :)

Happy birthday! :D Mine was yesterday.

Made me happiest all week: My awesome 'second birthday' my boyfriend and friend are throwing for me today. They woke me up this morning by blaring black Sabbath and handing me a pancake created necroNOMicon. They instructed me to eat it before it eats me.

Favorite food: I love food so this is incredibly hard but right now I would say Udon. I love the tasty broth and noodles :D Sushi is also delicious.

This thing would be pretty awesome.

u/closetrpw · 2 pointsr/RedPillWomen

omg yes this is what I actually use

So I actually like the original cream but I have sampled the gel cream. The great thing about La Mer is you can get samples when you order from their site. But yes, it is very pricey. For me a 2 oz. thing of the creme will last almost a year though.

I'm not sure if it's strictly the vitamin c, but I have noticed a difference in the lotion I use that incorporates both vitamin c and retinol! I honestly just love this because it is very lightweight and doesn't leave a greasy feeling on my skin.

I also forgot to mention that I try to moisturize rough areas (knee caps, elbows, hands, feet) with coconut oil and put the tiniest amount on the tips of my hair sometimes! I also have pretty long hair so the ends can dry out, especially if I'm due for a trim...

u/catsontop · 9 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

I have this same issue and I've improved it greatly over the last month! I was actually taking photos intending to make a post about it but this is perfect.

http://imgur.com/FYACo1o

I know the lighting in these photos is different, but the before photo on the left looked as bad or worse than it does in the photo. The after photo is in ultra bright natural light, and that was after two weeks of my new routine every day, an absolutely enormous improvement for me! I'm looking into additional options now, but so so happy with this start as it eliminated like 70% of my issue.

Routine - Every time I take a shower (basically every day)

  • Shave. I use a Gillette Venus Embrace, and will never ever use another kind of razor. Before I found this one I tried pretty much every single widely available razor. This one is super easy on my skin for some reason. I just shave with soap, never letting my blades get super dull.

  • Wash and exfoliate legs - I use Dove bar soap (looking to upgrade this) and these, which I found suggested on this sub. I tried chemical exfoliation on my legs and saw no results, physical really does it for me.

  • Pat dry, spray with rose water (I don't think this does anything, but it's refreshing and gets my legs moist for next step)

  • Pat on liberal amounts of aloe vera, this is what I have.

Allow to dry, and voila! I hope this works for some folks here.

These are a flimsier plastic than some of the other organizers here. But they do serve their purpose. They have little handles which makes it easy to remove them from the lower shelves of my vanity. They are 12" long which makes them too long to fit the short way on my cart.
Overall would mostly likely repurchase

https://www.amazon.com/STORi-Clear-Plastic-Organizer-5-Compartments/dp/B001B11ZV0/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?keywords=stori+5+compartment+organizer&qid=1566731411&s=gateway&sr=8-2

This is a nice heavy duty plastic. It is fairly tall which I like for my foundation bottles, primer bottles, and taller makeup items. It helps them not to tip or rattle around.
Would repurchase.

These are a heavy duty plastic. Some of my compacts are too wide or too tall to fit. For example my Hourglass powders have to go in corner first. And my Bare Minerals powders don't fit at all.
Would repurchase.

This is a basic palette organizer. Not super sturdy but it serves its purpose. My thickest palette is a PM mothership, thinnest would be a Viseart.

This is a sturdy brush/pencil holder. I have face brushes, then pencils, then eye brushes. It doesn't seem like it would tip easily, however, it feels crowded. Like the pencils and brushes lean into the other compartments. I would look around for separate cups next time.

The lipstick holders I previously had. There are so many on the market and they seem to be all the same for the most part. I would probably consider getting a gloss one too which helps the taller tubes not to tip.

My favorite thing tho....the clear Mac bullet top. 10/10 for sure!

The acrylic organizers I found on amazon are here and here.

I detail where I found other organizational items in the captions but most of my storage came from Wal-Mart, Dollar General, At Home, or Amazon. I don't think any organizer I have was over $22. In case you can't see the captions I'll list my descriptions.

(1)Is just an overview of my collection, my desk is pretty old and heavy but I want to make it look less ugly.

(2)This container Is from Wal-Mart. I found a similar on on their website but I only paid $10 for this one.

(3)With a pack of organizers I found at Dollar General I separated some lip products by miscellaneous sizes and brands, lip liners and other tall lip products, and then one section that's all WNW Catsuits and bullet lipsticks.

(4)This one has been decluttered recently, I got rid of my WNW shadows since I don't use them so this one looks more bare than others. I keep my Colourpop SS shadows in the smaller containers as well as my ABH Dipbrow Pomade and MAC's Painterly Paint pot. The rest is random mini mascaras, single shadows, a Colorpop SS that's drying out, and a super old Avon quad from 2007 and single shadow of my moms from the early 2000's or late 90s.

(5)Here I separated blushes with the square organizer the set came with becasue I have more blushes than anything and there was a perfect amount of space to store my highlighters in the front, and then my pressed powders and bronzers to the side.

(6)I couldn't find this exact organizer but I got it from At Home. It just perfectly fits some everyday products and lipsticks.

(7) I've been looking for something like this for YEARS. I found this on Amazon and I'll link it in the comment section. Previously I had stored all my palettes in the top drawer of the drawers and had lip products all over my desk. It holds all my palettes, eye brushes, and then a smaller spot for sponges and my eyelash curler. I keep my sponge in this lil jack-o-lantern I got as a gift.

(8)Lastly I have this organizer I also found on Amazon. It's just a five compartment acrylic thing that holds face products, liquid lipsticks, and brushes. I keep my dirty brushes in a Kentucky Derby cup form my birth year.

Ok, so for my whole life I wanted a cordless Dyson vacuum. They’re about $500 but amazing because you literally just charge it and it’s good to go for a couple of days of serious vacuuming. But once I got my Dyson, I realized that it can’t pick up a lot of dirt because it has such a small compartment. Also, it gets stuck on long carpet and doesn’t do well if you have pets.

But, around the same time I got my Dyson, my Mom got the Shark cordless vacuum which runs at about $80. She has rheumatoid arthritis, so vacuuming really hurts her hands. This vacuum was perfect for her and I wish I had gone with it instead of my Dyson. The rollers and dirt compartment are so much better than the Dyson, and it rolls easily on all types of carpet. My mother has three cats and never has to unblock the roller. So this is my definite recommendation.

Things you need on your wishlist: for good baths, for a healthy and satisfyingly sweet snack, and for the best game known to man. Trust me, that last game is one of the most creative games I have ever played.

I summon /u/denygfx because they are a dirty bird who needs to be punished!

The household chore I hate the most is doing laundry because it’s really like three chores in one (sorting, timing, and folding).

Have you heard of Sensory Processing Disorder? I have OCD and don't think that your aversion is related to that, but it's pretty unusual. I say that I don't think its OCD because the way you talk about soap is more physical than mental-and while I'll be the first to talk about nausea and feeling physically ill because of anxiety, you describe a very SPD like experience. I hate brushing my teeth because the taste of every toothpaste and physical sensation of brushing and movement triggers my gag reflex, but using warm water and being aware of how important it is helps me power through most of the time.

Is bar soap different than liquid soap? Have you ever tried powdered soap? How do you deal with dishwashing soap and laundry detergent? Does shampoo not trigger the same ill effects? Have you ever used a cream cleaner? Have you ever used orange Gojo hand cleaner? Do scented lotions or candles affect you in the same way that scented soap does?

I'd definitely recommend seeing a therapist who has experience with OCD and autism, because sensory stuff and compulsive behaviors (or lack of behavior) can be linked to that stuff. If you have any success, please post an update!

Edit: to add, have you ever used a nylon net? one of these things, it dramatically changes the texture of liquid or bar soap to something more like foamy shampoo, which might help.

Edit 2: Dr. Bronner's liquid castile soap has a very different texture than most liquid soaps, might be worth giving it a go.

Shower normally with hot water; this will soften the hair. I generally shave only at the end of a shower as other products might clog my pores.

Exfoliate; this will remove dead skin and dirt, which will help keep it from clogging the razor, promote the release of any ingrown hairs, and further soften the hair.

Lather with a moisturizing shaving soap or if you run out of shaving specific products, hair conditioner works in a bind. Let lather sit for a minute or two; it will further soften the hair.

Starting from the base of your ankle, shave in short strokes (maybe 3-4 inches) upwards against the grain, rotating around your leg; longer strokes evidently can clog the razor faster.

Rinse the blade after every rotation; not rinsing will force you to take multiple passes, and that is something you want to avoid.

The backs of the legs takes practice. I contort myself so I can see for the most part. Calfs are easy to see, but hamstrings are not. If you cannot contort yourself, lift your knee to your shoulder so you can see your hamstrings and shave downwards against the grain from the knee to the butt.

Go slow. A woman's legs are one of her best assets; take care of them.

Do not neglect your toes, thighs, arm pits and knuckles. Arm hair is optional, but even ciswomen can have hairy arms and not give a shit.

Rinse with cold water; as cold as you can possibly endure. This will snap shut your pores and help mitigate bacterial invasions. It helps stops razor bumps, ingrown hairs and acne.

Pat dry with a clean towel; never rub dry because you will exacerbate any micro cuts and make them worse.

Moisturize wherever the blade touched you. Even pros get get micro cuts, so you might want to invest in a medicated moisturizer.

The reward for being diligent?
Rub your freshly shaved legs together; it feels like heaven. It's really quite addicting.

Wow I am so late on this! Sorry, if you're still interested I was finally able to take a bath last night after receiving this stuff.

I purchased this drain stopper and this overflow cover Together they worked very well together & allowed me to fill my bath probably another 3 inches or so. My bath is fairly old in my apartment & without the drain cover it drains (very slowly) but let's say I'm taking just a 20-30 minute bath, it will be less than half full by the time I'm finished.

I had really bad luck last night - I guess I chose to take a bath when everyone in my building decided to run their dishwasher & do laundry & whatever else so I had 0 hot water & really didn't feel like sitting in lukewarm water forever. I feel like the overflow cover would have allowed me to fill up even farther which would have been nice.

Coupled with some candles & a bath pillow & it would be a perfect bath. I really recommend them. Also for as cheap as the items were they seem pretty durable & with proper care I would say they would last quite a while.

I don't know if you've tried already, but an italy towel may be exactly what you need. I've had keratosis pilaris for years on the backs of my arms and my legs.

What I found to be terrific for it was an italy towel. You can get them very cheap on amazon. The idea is to soak in a bath for a good 20-30 minutes (make sure that area of your body is submerged) and then scrub the area with the cloth in circular motions. It works most effectively without soap for me, and I've heard that from others as well. You can try either method. I just soak it in warm water. Often, the dead skin just rolls off and you feel soft as a baby afterward. It's very satisfying. Here's the link: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00LGLOKLM/

I also suggest Amlactin. It is a body lotion with lactic acid and lots of people have had success with it when it comes to KP/textured skin. It exfoliates very well.

u/cmagnuson · 16 pointsr/boostedboards

After riding 2,500 miles between my two boards, here are the accessories I bring with me on every ride:

GoPro Hero Session camera: On two occasions I have been assaulted by people in cars while commuting home. They threw an egg and some water at me. After the first incident, I purchased this camera and started riding with it facing behind me. When the second assault occurred, I was able to grab the license plate # from the video footage and got the culprits in trouble with the police.

Fingerless gloves: When you fall off your board, which you surely will if you ride any significant distance, the first part of your body to hit the pavement will probably be the palms of your hands as you catch yourself. Removing the skin from your hands feels terrible, even on small falls. Wearing these gloves provides an extra layer to rub off when you hit the pavement. Make sure you wear fingerless gloves though because full-fingered gloves make it extremely difficult to operate the remote control.

Flatland 3D bash guard and remote ring: These two accessories changed my boarding life completely. Definitely put a bash guard on the tail of your board to prevent the ground from chewing up the tail every time you bring your board vertical. Don't waste your time putting on a nose guard because they don't serve a purpose. The nose of my board never touches anything except my hands and having a guard there makes it more uncomfortable/difficult to handle the nose of the board. When it comes to the remote ring, I cannot recommend this accessory highly enough. Sure, putting a Nintendo Wii remote strap on your Boosted remote will keep it from dropping to the ground. On the other hand, the Flatland 3D remote ring keeps the remote snugly embedded in the palm of your hand even if you fully open your hand and spread all of your fingers. I've even completely fallen off my board and hit the ground without losing grip of my remote. The remote ring is a true game-changer.

A headlamp: A headlamp??? Yes, a headlamp. Why? Well, riding a skateboard at night is one of the most terrifying activities known to man. Any unexpected bumps, cracks, or rocks can send you flying. With a headlamp, you can wear it like a garter around your thigh. This gives the light a perfect vantage point to light up the pavement in front of you. I've used this light in particular to commute at night for a couple years and it works excellently. Light & Motion makes the best lights I've ever used. The build quality is unmatched and their customer service is top notch.

Clear biking glasses: Riding without something over my eyes is very difficult. Dust from the road and insects from the air frequently fly into my eyes unless I am wearing some form of protection. During the day, any pair of sunglasses work fine. However, at night a pair of shades is not a good idea. Instead, I purchased some biking glasses from Smith Optics. This model comes with several lenses: smoke, rose, and clear.

Small towels: If you ride your board any farther than a mile in a single ride, especially if you commute in a city, you will find the bottom of your board covered in dust, muck, and liquids at the end of your ride. Folding a small towel and sticking it in my back pocket has saved me from countless headaches. Instead of getting to my destination with a board dripping with garbage truck juice or covered in mud, I am able to quickly wipe down the bottom of my board so I don't get my hands and clothing dirty. In addition, if I spill anything else on myself while I'm out, I have a handy rag I can quickly utilize. These towels are so cheap that I don't feel bad throwing them away if I trash them.

LED waist belt: When riding at night, being visible is one of the keys to safety. While your garter headband works great to light the path in front of you, this LED waist band makes you much more visible to vehicles approaching you from behind.

A helmet: These protect your noggin. I haven't found a helmet I love yet, but this one does have the best chinstrap I've ever seen. It's magnetic, which means it's impossible to pinch the skin under your chin when putting on the helmet!

Exfoliating is a big help, these are awesome for in the shower. I lather one up with soap and use it to wash with, then shave, and then I lightly exfoliate with the cloth again with just water before getting out. Moisturize after with something that doesn't irritate your skin (I like Lubriderm Sensitive Skin personally).

I'm not sure I agree with the sentiment that women's razors are necessarily better. I spent quite a bit of time looking online for what the best razor to use on my legs would be and the general consensus was the main difference between women's and men's razors is just the handle shape and packaging/cost. Many cis women actually posted about preferring the Mach 3 which is a "men's" razor. I already had one of those so I've been using it for body hair and personally it's been working very well. It's also pretty economical compared to many when it comes to buying blades (you can get a pretty good deal on them in bulk on Amazon).

Also, how much pressure are you using? It should be quite light, let the razor do the work. I wonder if you're pushing down harder than you need to without realizing it.

Did not submit wishlist to ISFJ Mom-Santa early enough. Was informed that gifts for me were purchased a while ago, and it is too late... :)

Things that I really enjoy having that I would have enjoyed receiving as a gift, though (even if I got them for myself....):

  • Bath overflow cover: If you're buying for someone who likes baths. Because baths are warm and awesome -- especially living in the relatively chilly midwest USA.

  • Some kind of black light: Worked well as a gift when I was younger -- it would depend on the individual if they are older. It made for a long series of fun, "does this glow?" experiments -- and even now, I'll still sometimes trot it out to see if it glows.

  • More expensive, but a device that gives you information on yourself -- such as sleep quality, activity level, etc. Don't have one myself, but would want want. The more independent it is from me doing stuff to it, the better. For instance, if it can actually detect when I am sleeping, that would be really cool -- even if it is sometimes a little off!

I can't think of many other things that aren't even specific to what I like. I'm definitely trending after my (I think ENTP) Dad in the, "hard to shop for; if wanted a thing badly enough, probably got it for self a while ago instead of waiting arbitrarily for Christmas in order to tell someone to get it/hope someone gets it."

In my studio I got lucky with storage but I know that I would get this bag holder as well as collapsible kitchen essentials. A slim trash can helps. If your bathroom has no storage, something like this can help. Hang your spices on the cabinet. Use this in the shower if you need more space. XD I use command hooks near my front door to hold my keys and daily jacket. :)

Ive got a bunch of little ideas. Fuzzy pants, robes, or shorts like these. Or a nice fuzzy blanket/throw. I love those.

this bath drain will give you an extra 2-3 inches of water in the bath! bath pillows are also a godsend.

Best of luck.

The good:

your eyes are very good, well done with the colour transition, the wings are the perfect thickness and lenght - you are lucky to have very open eyes. I also like the purple under.

Your eyebrows have a good shape

I think the foundation colour matches you well

The bad:

As pointed the others: your foundation. I think the problem starts with the fact that your skin has a lot of texture. I used to have exactly the same skin as you and what helped me was physical exfoliation, I use exactly those https://www.amazon.co.uk/Korean-Italy-Towel-Exfoliating-Washcloth/dp/B00LGLOKLM Korean Italian towels. They make my skin very smooth and get rid of the dead skin, therefore I break-out less.

Secondly, I also think you have a dry skin. At first glance your skin looks oily but I think it is because dry skin tends to overproduce oil (since it is starved of it), therefore making it super oily after few hours.

The foundation itself is a bit too thick, my trick with foundation is to avoid putting any above my lips (it never looks good unless photoshopped) and less on my nose, forehead and under my eyes / nos bridge. This way you can still put loads on your cheeks and around your chin without looking 'too much'.

I think it would have been really good if you used powder on a top of your foundation - it gives your skin a cleaner and more matte look, getting rid of shiness coming from oily foundation. I think aloso a tiny bit of blush / bronzer on your cheeks, nose and forehead would have been perfect!

Lastly, your eyebrows. They are a very good shape, you you have that. However I think you should try to make them more subtle. Try not to draw your eyebrows and fill it 100%, but accent them. Make them a bit more natural

  • Fridge magnets. I use 1 strand of the curiously strong ones, and that's all I need. Those suckers really stick.
  • Moveall or furniture sliders - a godsend if you live alone. You put them under the "feet" of your furniture and you can push your furniture around with ease.

That's what I can think of now. You can get a LOT of this stuff on craigslist for low cost.

Re: KP, quitting dairy (and going vegan) will probably have a bigger environmental impact than all zero waste habits combined ;) So that certainly won't hurt!

I personally use an Italy towel for exfoliation on my KP and found that using that plus a heavy moisturizer (like various oils, haven't found shea butter package-free but that's another option) has been the best. My italy towels did come in plastic packaging but they can be reused over and over again, probably forever. It's what korean spas use to exfoliate. I have a green one and pink one, and the pink ones are supposedly more gentle so I gently use it on my face and it works too.

I'm still phasing out my old skincare, but right now I'm doing: oil cleansing --> cleansing w soap --> exfoliating w towel --> using my old moisturizer (will try evening primrose or jojoba oil next) --> sunscreen.

Here are some other ZW ideas, from Paris to Go. More for fun, I think, though :)

I’m not sure if this has been said....but if you go to Asian supermarkets they have this exfoliation scarf thingy that’s like a really long loofa kinda thing. I think that would be helpful in scrubbing hard to reach places And it’s pretty cheap too. Also I don’t know if there’s any scientific proof but I try to scrub only in the direction my hair grows to prevent ingrown hairs and not scrub too hard that you hurt yourself because that can cause new wounds etc. Good luck and congratulations on your love life!

This appears to be keratosis pilaris, and there are a lot of things you can do to improve the appearance of your skin.

  • Gold Bond Rough & Bumpy twice a day; works via AHA and BHA acid chemical exfoliators. Easy to find in Walmart and drugstores.
  • Get yourself a shower scrub towel (like this one) and a moisturizing soap to put on it, and physically rub & exfoliate your skin in the shower. (I like Yardley Oatmeal and Almond soap bc it's gentle, but use whatever works for you.) You can do this anywhere between once a day and every couple of days depending on how sensitive your skin is.
  • And yes, fasting. Both water and dry. Though tbh I would use one or both of the above methods in combination with any sort of fasting to see faster results.

Edit: There are increasingly more invasive treatments you can use if the first basic approach doesn't work-- for example: stronger chemical peels, retinols, ultrasonic skin scrubbling, and microneedling. These are usually only used for either deeper acne/burn scarring or the pursuit of absolute perfection in one's face. However, if you combine a basic skincare routine with any sort of fasting, your skin will probably drastically improve.

    Remember to patch test

Oh my gosh, this sounds super stressful! I actually have horrible skin on my legs (scars easily) and am so bad about scratching bites. Let's see what we can do.

  1. If possible, use an oral or topical antihistamine to control the itching so you aren't tempted to scratch.

  2. If it's warranted, use Neosporin on your scratches.

  3. Moisturize your skin with something gentle.

  4. Drink lots of water.

  5. Take an oral anti-inflammatory like aspirin or ibuprofen.

  6. If you don't have a burn and it's just the tan, take a nice warm long shower and then go to town with a scrubby mitt. The best are the Korean towels, but whatever you can find in your local drugstore would work.

Lastly, try to just let it go on the day of and feel confident and beautiful. You're already super brave for doing the shoot and your FH is going to love it no matter what! If something really bothers you, ask your photographer what you can do. If your back is really bothering you, for example, could you stick with a men's button down shirt over a bra? Or not include poses of your back?

Just sending you some love here--it's allegedly such a common issue, but I've got it worse than anyone I've met IRL.

I've had really good luck with Korean exfoliating cloths and Retin-A applied immediately after. Caveat being...that's on my body, I don't have it on my face.

Best of luck, friend. Don't despair yet. Don't let putting on makeup make you feel less masculine. It's no different than putting on sunscreen or any other product.

So someone on my original post in r/makeupaddiction thought that I should make the same post here, so I've pasted it below!

Since these things are all over Amazon, I figured I'd review the one I got.

It was packaged really well; in sealed shrinkwrap, baby bubble wrap, big bubble wrap, and then in a nice form-fitting box. So even though the dimensions are listed, and I have a tape measure, I have to say it seems so small in person! But my entire makeup collection fit (except for some of the palettes that were too tall to fit in the palette holder, which is fine since I ran out of slots anyway).

The boxes are not connected, so you can organize them however you want, including the top part (with the foundations in it). Also, each cubby can accommodate either one big drawer or three small drawers, so you can mix and match those too. Each box has two cubbies, for either two large drawer, six small drawers, or half and half, and the boxes have little rubber feeties on the bottom so that they don't scuff each other, or the shelf you store them on. They also came with pre-cut black mesh liners, which I thought was nice (I can take a picture of one if you'd like to see).

If anyone is thinking about buying one of these and would like to see specific pictures of any part, let me know! There are a ton of sellers, but I tried to pick one with a bunch of reviews (that fakespot didn't flag as suspicious). Overall I'm really pleased with it! I was concerned with the size at first, but it's compact and efficient; I actually didn't end up using one of the small drawers, and several of them are sparsely packed.

We can do little things. Starving people need food charity. But after that emergency stage, people need jobs and broad economic growth. That economic growth allows large scale things like Democracy and equality to flourish.

These towels are made from cotton grown in Benin, in west Africa. The group Cotton Made In Africa has organized a co-op of 250,000 small farmers, with a focus on sustainable growth and education.

Last Christmas, everyone on my list got towels, and everyone loved them. So my friends and family got great towels at a fair price, a bunch of African farmers got some money, and I got my Christmas shopping done in 20 minutes. That's a win-win-win situation.

I signed up for OKCupid in 2002 or 2003, when it first came out. I went on many dates, made some friends, and I'm still in touch with some of them. I met one guy, took him to an Evanescence concert, ended up meeting the brother, started dating the brother, and drove down one weekend to help the brother move to a new place...And got in a horrendous car accident. Totally screwed up my body, had surgery and everything. All thanks to online dating.

But I didn't give up. I tried other sites, too. Plenty of Fish, Geek2Geek, MMODating (my picture was in an advertisement for it in a gaming magazine), even Craigslist. Nothing stuck.

Until two and a half years ago. August 25th, 2011, I just sent out messages to about forty guys on about three different sites.

One wrote me back. And, surprisingly, we hit it off. We REALLY hit it off. So much so, that we were engaged within for months, and married two months later.

Tomorrow is our two year wedding anniversary, in fact. My parents just showed up, as I write this, to take us out to dinner for it, since we can't afford to treat ourselves.

The point is, don't give up. There are lots of people out there, and online communication is a great way to get to know someone, vet out their likes and dislikes, find out how you're similar. I was 31 before I met the man of my dreams, but it DOES happen.

And I'm still friends with those brothers I met in 2004. And others I've met through dating sites.

Keep at it. You'll find your luck soon, I'm sure. I'm rooting for you!

EDIT: Item, because some days I'd really love the ability to take a bath. We have a tub, but no way to stop the water from draining out. :-(

Just posted my routine in another thread! Its also important to make sure you GENTLY exfoliate the dead, dry skin once in a while because products will not seep into your skin if you have a layer of dead flaky skin on top. When I say GENTLY, I mean GENTLY. As in, using very light pressure and circular motions.

I usually gently exfoliate with regular face soap, https://www.amazon.com/Face-Shop-Water-Bright-Cleansing/dp/B00FJ2LU2Q/ref=sr_1_1?crid=QBAXDKBWNEI1&keywords=faceshop+rice+water+cleansing+foam&qid=1558028782&s=gateway&sprefix=faceshop+%2Caps%2C187&sr=8-1 , using an exfoliating towel in the shower, https://www.amazon.com/Korean-Exfoliating-Washcloth-Green-TeChef/dp/B00LGLOKLM/ref=sr_1_25?crid=3OPLND1BSAC82&keywords=exfoliating%2Bcloth&qid=1558028820&s=gateway&sprefix=exfoliating%2B%2Caps%2C192&sr=8-25&th=1 . Put some soap on the towel and exfoliate gently.

For skin, this is what I have found to work best for me. Currently on month 7, 30mg.

Cleanser: https://www.amazon.com/Bioderma-Hydrabio-Cleansing-Dehydrated-Sensitive/dp/B01ES79K4M/ref=sr_1_4?crid=CT33LP9ZQB56&keywords=bioderma+micellar+water&qid=1558027613&s=gateway&sprefix=bioder%2Caps%2C196&sr=8-4

The micellar water works for removing make up, but does not remove waterproof mascara. Use this both morning and night. If I just exfoliated, I will skip this step and go straight to toner.

Toner: https://www.sephora.com/product/moisturizing-toner-P253623?icid2=products%20grid:p253623:product

Serum: https://www.sephora.com/product/the-ordinary-deciem-hyaluronic-acid-2-b5-P427419

Moisturizer: https://www.sephora.com/product/ultra-repair-cream-intense-hydration-P248407

I've tried other combinations and this seems to work the best for me.

For body lotion: https://www.amazon.com/Jergens-Ultra-Healing-Moisturizer-Ounces/dp/B0034F9K36/ref=sr_1_4?keywords=jergens&qid=1558027510&s=gateway&sr=8-4

As cheesy as it sounds, I get my daughter to this little tiger growl type thing. She watches Peppa Pig and tried to imitate George doing his dinosaur growl, but before I caught on to the fact that she was imitating George, I just started calling her my little tiger. Either way, it makes me smile every time :)

These are awesome and would make me feel like a fancy-pants!

u/Jax410 · 2 pointsr/BabyBumps

How about something like this, a really nice robe & slippers, jets, or one of these to make the bath deeper.

I know some elderly people who use those suction bars instead of having grab bars installed and they seem to work pretty well, but I would recommend checking the weight restrictions (I mostly know little old ladies who use them) and ensure that you have a good seal on a smooth solid surface before using.

u/lanabananaaas · 5 pointsr/muacjdiscussion

I love exfoliating, and if that's your goal, just get these. Wash your body with soap as usual, maybe take time to wash your hair/shave/etc (it works way better after you've been soaking a while), rinse, then start scrubbing with this thing (without soap at all). The amount of gross dead skin that you'll scrub away is just great. Very good for ingrown hairs too.

If you're looking for just a spa-like luxurious scrub, I like this. I don't find it nearly as effective as the previous towels, which are the best exfoliators I've used in general (not counting chemical exfoliators).

u/nevergirl · 2 pointsr/AsianBeauty

For me, the biggest difference is ease of use. I imagine you get a similar exfoliation from both. Since the towel is easy for me to wrap around my back and scrub without contorting my arm, it's much easier for me to use. It also lathers up extremely well and is super fast to clean and dry.. which can sometimes be an issue for me with a loofah.

Here is the one I use, I just get them from Amazon if I'm not visiting any Asian grocery stores soon. They are usually WAY cheaper if you can get them at a grocery.

u/designgoddess · 3 pointsr/DogCare

My boy was too terrified to go outside for a year and half. I put down cheap bath mats. They have a rubber backing so nothing leaks through and they are easily washed. I also bought a ton of cheap bar towels. I'd use them to blot and then I'd soak the area with Natures Miracle and use more of the bar towels to blot up. For my 45 pound dog it's about 10 bar towels each time. There is no good way to get around doing a load of laundry a day unless you want everything disposable. Which gets expensive quickly. For your bed I'd get a rubber sheet to put under your sheets or a couple good mattress covers to rotate. I'm not sure one mattress cover is enough to stop it from soaking through. Put the bath mats on your bed cover and don't let your dog sleep between the seats if you can. Maybe get an x-pen or two so you can keep him contained to an area that's easy to clean.

You might want to wash them before using so they are more absorbable. I found it much easier to use a bunch of smaller towels than a few big ones. I washed everything used to clean up after him separately. Towels and mats would be their own loads. FYI, my boy hated the belly band so that option didn't really work, but it's worth a shot. You'll have to bathe him more to cut down on the stink factor.

I don't use a cleanser in the morning, but I do like using a salux cloth like this with water to wash/wipe away lint, cat hair, or whatever my face accumulates when I sleep. It is so fast and easy, and I feel like it has made my face smoother as well.

u/WithLinesOfInk · 1 pointr/LifeProTips

Prepwork: EXFOLIATE. In your morning shower (I recommend showering in the morning, if you're worried about all-day-smells), scrub your armpits, back, chest, feet, and anywhere else that may be a bit sweaty over the course of the day with an exfoliating pad and soap. This will remove dead skin cells, which are what stench-causing bacteria love to eat. Swab your underarms with a touch of rubbing alcohol before applying your deodorant to kill off any lingering bacteria. Moisturize to avoid causing further dead cells.

Wash behind and around your ears, groin, butt and feet thoroughly with soap.

Powder your unmentionables (groin and buttocks)with talc-free powder- generally I use Arm & hammer.

Make sure you're wearing clean underwear and socks and undershirts. I re-wear pants and some shirts several days at a time before washing, but some of my shirts get pit-stank after only 1 wear so those go right into the wash. If you have lingering or chronic pit-stank on your shirts, get some sports-specific detergent, scrub a bit with some water into the pits, and let them sit half an hour before washing. Don't let it sit too long or it can stain/bleach the fabric. You could do this with baking soda and water, too, with varying degrees of effectiveness.

Throughout the day: Baby wipes are a big part of my day if I'm going to be running around a lot- use them to wipe anything that could be gathering sweat, and places where fabric rubs agaisnt your body. Ladies may suffer some bra-sweat concerns and not realize it, so that's an important area to tend to. Use one after using the bathroom to be extra fresh. I prefer mine unscented because I don't care for the smell of msot baby wipes.

Re-applying deodorant at midday (or every 2-3 hours if you're super sweaty) can help, too. Using a nice, clean-smelling lotion that is good quality so the scent lingers but isn't overwhelming.

You can add essential oils to your wash to make your clothes smell good long after drying.

u/PeachOnAWarmBeach · 2 pointsr/entwives

My bathtub is one of my top 5 places to get stoned. Lucky enough to have a killer bathtub as well as a great view of awesome trees and sky, out of a couple windows in my bathroom on the 2nd floor.

I recommended the other day one of those clear plastic things that go over your overflow drain thing that let you get a couple more inches of goodness!

I've got a ridiculous, meticulous self tanning routine that involves a lot of this.

I use these Korean Italy Towels to exfoliate, making sure to focus on all of my problem areas (elbows, knees, ankles, knuckles, wrists, toes, right under my boobs, neck) that seem to hoard dead skin. I also shave beforehand.

Then I put a light layer of lotion (one that doesn't contain any oil) on the bottom of my feet, toes, ankles, knees, belly button, elbows, crease of arm pit, wrists, and any scratches I have.

THEN I use this blending balm and put a light layer on my knees, elbows, wrists, and ankles.

THEN I put on some latex gloves and use a nice tanning mitt like this one. Not all tanning mitts are created equal.

I start from the bottom half of my legs and work my way up with the actual tanning. Working from the bottom up ensures you aren't splotching your tan by bending over and hitting your chest to your legs. I use the mitt with whatever type of tan product I'm using -- spray, mousse, lotion, whatever. I spread in a circular motion, making sure there aren't any streaks or splotches. I make sure I bend my knees and wipe them while they're bent so that the product gets into my knee wrinkles.

Once I'm done applying, I take one latex glove off and wipe that hand. then I take the other off and wipe the other hand. Then I use the blending balm and put a little more on my toes, knees, elbows, wrists, and fingers and rub those areas in with one of the latex gloves so that my fingers don't get orange. Then I carefully wash my palms with a little bit of water and then put some lotion on my palms and carefully rub them together.

It's a PROCESS, but I never look weird and I've never splotched or looked orange. Also, for reference, I'm as white as white can be.

My favorite tanners so far are Fake Bake Flawless, St Tropez, Sun Laboratories dark lotion (smells the nicest), and this random self tanner mousse from Sally's Beauty Supply from the brand Tanwise.

I was actually lucky enough to find the real ones at my local asian supermarket that possessed all the markers of the authentic ones as described by the distributors/sellers of the salux wash cloth, http://saluxshop.com/.

You can purchase it directly from their website OR their ebay store, http://www.ebay.com/itm/Original-Real-Salux-Japanese-Exfoliating-Nylon-Bath-Wash-Cloth-Discount-Bundles-/120805336805. You can also get it from amazon as well, http://www.amazon.com/Salux-Nylon-Japanese-Beauty-Yellow/dp/B007IAE5WY/ref=lp_2600026011_1_1_a_it?srs=2600026011&ie=UTF8&qid=1456908663&sr=8-1

If you're interested, here is an in-depth post from them that tells you how to differentiate from the fake ones to the real ones haha: https://saluxshop.wordpress.com/the-imitations/

It's actually really not that hard to discern from the real ones to the fake ones. You will see. haha

Hope that helps! :)

Price (range): $3.73/cloth

Country of purchase: USA

Skin info: All skin types

Ingredients: Nylon

Special info: 4.6 out of 5 Stars on over 1,200 Amazon reviews.

Experience & opinion: I use it with a moisturizing body wash for my body and it exfoliates better than any loofah or scrub I’ve ever used. For the price, you more than get your money’s worth because you can machine wash and dry them when you think they’re dirty. I occasionally will use it for my face, but I prefer Rodan & Fields Microdermabrasion Paste. I originally found it because I was searching for how to treat keratosis and never looked back. I give them as gifts to all my friends. For about $4, definitely worth a try.

I have used the gloves before too, but what I really like is using an Italian cloth. You can get them, ironically, at a lot of Asian supermarkets or online:

https://www.amazon.com/Korean-Exfoliating-Washcloth-Green-TeChef/dp/B00LGLOKLM/ref=sr_1_8_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1469074797&sr=8-8&keywords=exfoliating+cloth

They last a really long time and are good for scrubbing other places especially in the winter when skin tends to get dry.

I have also mixed sugar, oil (I used coconut), and a teaspoon of lemon juice to exfoliate before I shave and then exfoliate a second time and shave again. It really makes your legs (and armpits if you can stand it) smooth!

Another bonus is you can go longer between shaves.

I second the Italy towel maybe a Salux cloth which is a little softer. The usual directions are to soak in a hot bath or shower for about twenty minutes, then scrub yourself with the towel/cloth. Moisturizing afterwards will make you feel extra nice. :)

Sorry you went through such a rough time and I'm glad you're feeling a little better now. Depression is the worst. I know what it's like to feel like everything, including showering, is more effort than you can expend. I hope things just get better for you from here.

For a "scrub," I have eschewed various "scrubby" products, and use a Korean scrub glove. You can get a package of 4 at Amazon for like, $6.00 USD. here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004C8DR1U/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 (not affiliated). Bought a set for my sister, too, who constantly complains about rough knees/elbows. Anyway, these are cheap and they are simply wonderful. I've been a dry-brusher for decades, and I've replaced that with these. Easier to use, you can sort of choose how "scrubby" you want to go, and my skin feels like the proverbial baby's bottom. HIGHLY recommend.

In my apartment we use clamp camera mounts (https://amazon.com/dp/B00PICAE4C/) with tension rods (https://amazon.com/dp/B00IF5SY1E/) run vertically (floor-to-ceiling) with the cables wrapped down around the pole. While the pole is more of a visible 'thing' than just a tiny wall or ceiling mount, it gives a natural place for the cables to run (versus just down the wall) which IMO makes it look much better than any of the other options (at least for us renters who can't run cables inside the walls).

Less ideal for tracking but more minimal, I've also seen people mount their two front cameras on the back of the top two corners of their big screen tv or wall mounted in this location along with a wall-mounted TV, and having the cables run down the back of the tv with the other tv cables.

Another option is to ceiling mount sensors above or just in-front of curtains for a window or sliding-glass-door and run the cables along the top and side of the window/door frame completely covered by the curtains.

---

Aesthetically in many cases it is pretty much the same whether you're running a usb cable down from an Oculus Sensor or a power cable down from a Vive lighthouse--either way you have to run a single black cable down the wall from mount height to floor height (the aesthetically challenging bit) and then cables along the baseboard (which is easier/not a big deal by comparison).

You can try body washes containing salicylic acid too and see if that would help. If you have a family member or a friend that can help you out, you can also try applying benzoyl peroxide on your back every day. Many people surprisingly do not wash their backs. If you don't own a back scrubber or a wash cloth like this [one] (https://www.amazon.com/Salux-Nylon-Japanese-Beauty-Yellow/dp/B007IAE5WY/ref=lp_11056491_1_17_s_it?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1477537924&sr=1-17), you might want to add them to your toiletries.

I use this GENTLY to exfoliate a day or two before. Honestly, exfoliation makes more of a difference than anything else. Then I shave with the grain with a normal razor and hair conditioner, rather than shaving cream, as it's nicer to my skin. I grew to accept that I cannot shave against the grain without an itchy, bumpy mess.

I used to apply tea tree oil afterward which helped, but I no longer do that. Instead, I do the same exfoliation a couple days after shaving. I haven't had bumps in a long time with this method, however I would like to point out something: my hair is thick, coarse, and dark down there, and I can still see my hair follicles even immediately after shaving. It doesn't look as pretty and smooth as others due to my hair type and because I don't shave against the grain. I want to try waxing one day but haven't brought myself to do it yet. I just wanted to point out that it'll never look fully smooth if your wife has hair like mine. I hope my description helped.

I keep wipes in my gym bag. If I know I can't get a shower right away, I clean my acne prone spots with the wipes to at least get some of the sweat and dirt off.
I use the Stridex red box pads too. I don't find body washes with salicylic acid very effective for me, it just doesn't stay on my skin long enough. The Stridex pads are better, imo.
Physical exfoliation seems to help too. I buy [salux](Salux Nylon Japanese Beauty Skin Bath Wash Cloth/towel (3) Blue Yellow and Pink https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007IAE5WY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_10EVzb2EXJS8P) cloths on Amazon. u/seasicksquid · 11 pointsr/TheGirlSurvivalGuide

Tony Moly also sells a version of this.

Be sure to soak your feet before using. Like, until they are wrinkly. It'll help your skin to actually soak up the solution.

Also, the basis of this is really just exfoliating. You can get similar results without having to do the full peel by simply manually exfoliating your feet. It sounds gross, but I find it works without having to go through the whole process of molting feet for a week.

While in the bath - once your feet are nice and soaked and the skin is softened, you can usually just use a pumice stone, an abrasive cloth (like Italy clothes from South Korea or exfoliating mitts that are made of fine viscose (I prefer these for full body rub downs as well as feet - easier to use), or just your finger nails. You can feel the dead skin coming off - finger nails are especially useful around the toes.

u/chemkara · 2 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

I see that you are dealing with eczema, so a hydrating cleanser instead of soap would be much better for you. Moisturize right after you get out of the shower, even better is your skin is still damp. The trapped water will give you extra moisture. If your moisturizer is not enough, add a few drops of Jojoba Oil to your hand with a dollop of the moisturizer.

Once a week, use an exfoliating cloth likeThe Salux Towel, it gets rid of dead flaky skin.

If you don’t mind extra exfoliation, once a month I use these Hammam Exfoliating Gloves for deeper exfoliation. They are not for everyone but They give amazing results if you soak in a warm bath for a few minutes before hand.

Don’t forget to use a pumice stone on your heals too.

For the back acne: Another thought is possibly a backpack that's a bit too snug that could be causing this. For me, staying dry as possible and wear moisture wicking clothes helped. Perhaps change wife beaters throughout the day if sweat is a problem?

This subreddit also recommends Salux if you don't have it yet, helps with the back washing considerably compared to a regular loofah in terms of reaching spots.

As for the dry skin, try using Cerave in the tub or anything with cermamides about 10-15 minutes after applying BP? It helped me considerably but your mileage may vary.

Good luck!

Exfoliating is to scrub the skin, so the dead skin falls off, and it can pull out ingrown hairs, and so on.

Depending on the area of skin, you may want to be more or less gentle. So a face can be exfoliated with a face scrub and/or face brush. The bottom of your feet, use a pumice stone. And for areas you shave, having a washcloth or brush can do it, it can be tricky finding something that is comfortable, yet effective, and not too rough. I'm satisfied with this.

Today my second mounting clamp and rod came in. After trying several heights and angles, and testing with the desk demo I found that tracking was perfect from top to bottom except when facing the very edge of my bottom left room corner while my hands are in front of me. In which case my body completely covers my motion controllers and a third camera would still not be able to help since my room is too small /cluttered to cover that specific angle. The biggest thing that helped was NOT mounting the cameras as high as possible, as it is suggested by some users. The higher they are, the farther away they are, and being cameras and limited by resolution, being too far away (too high) results in jitter/unstable tracking. I ended up mounting them at about 7 feet high. I suggest a rod/clamp solution as it allows you to quickly test and make small adjustments, and using this setup allows you to move the cameras in every way possible (6 degrees of freedom). Here is the exact rod and clamp I'm using for those interested. Obviously any similar rod/clamp will work.

These thieving guests are really rare, so I wouldn't worry about it for your first guests.

What I've found is guests are even more likely to take the small items with them. It ends up being a lot of waste, too, because you'll have tons of partially used bottles.

The best solution I've found is to put things into dispensers. Someone might take a full shampoo bottle, but they aren't going to pull a dispenser off the wall. They wouldn't feel bad snagging salt & pepper in the cardboard store containers, but they won't take them if they're in shakers (mine have survived 5 years of hosting). https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000FGCW0K/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Leave out a reasonable amount of TP and a roll of paper towels and lock up the rest. It'll be fine.

I think I'm caught up for now. Fortunately we've had a slow day at work and we haven't started to implement the project I've been over yet. Thanks for taking these over /u/herumph, love this series.

  1. I hear /u/Mortifyinq has some pretty solid plans and philosophies, they're pretty similar to JD for some weird reason though. But JD is who I've stuck with, I'll probably end up breaking into Pfitz for my half though.

  2. I picked up an extra 3 hours of sleep, does that count?

  3. Umm...

  4. Kind of. I had to drop mine down to 1000 after I had to take two months off. I'm currently at 879.1 and still have to run today. I'll probably hit it though.

  5. So I need to buy a gift for my company Christmas party and need ideas. The only thing(s) I have so far would be getting one of these: 1 2 but I feel like there's better, dumber things to burden somebody with. What have you guys got?

I use SuperNail Glitter, which Sally's Beauty Supply sells online. If they don't sell internationally, Amazon also sells it. If not, I've seen Martha Stewart's craft glitter used in nail art quite frequently. It's sold in craft stores (Hobby Lobby, Michael's, JoAnn's...) and amazon. Good Luck!

u/allyforyou · 3 pointsr/MakeupAddiction

I got these three -
[Acrylic with drawers] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004KKXA58/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1), Acrylic lipstick storage (you can get this one a few bucks cheaper from another seller if you don't mind waiting for shipping), and this acrylic organizer

Here's a (maybe not too great) picture of them on my shelf! photo

If you have Amazon Prime you can get free 2 day shipping. I purchased all three for a total of $47.58 so a huge saving over buying just one original beauty box.

They're all sturdy thick (but not TOO thick) plastic. No fogginess or scratches on the surface or anything!

About a year ago I thought it would be cool to offer a luxury travel set to my guest for a more hotel/upscale feel. I include a set of lord and mayfair shampoo, lotion, conditioner and body and face soap. Its a plus to offer to your guest and makes your listing look more pro:

http://i.imgur.com/miRVSw0.png

I looked online for a hotel supplier, purchased 144 of each for $175. Therefore I'm spending $1.25 for each reservation/guest? I set out 2 sets when they are longer stays. Estimate I had 100 guest since then. In 2 weeks its going to be a year since I purchased these and I havent counted them but I probably have about half of them left or a little more left.

The simple fact is that 50% of guest dont even touch them because they have their own, they also don't take em home like souvenirs like hotel guest do me included. I guest they respect the fact that its your house, etc. Its a waste because I constantly throw away half empty bottles. and bars of soaps used once.

So definitively when I run out of these I think i'm going to go with the wall dispenser route of a high end product, something like:

http://www.amazon.com/Three-Chamber-Shower-Dispenser-White/dp/B000FGCW0K/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1425747136&sr=8-1&keywords=shower+dispenser

Korean exfoliating cloths. At the end of a shower gently exfoliate you face with it, at first it will only make your skin feel smoother but over time it'll start to buff out scaring and whatnot.

A shower curtain if you have the kind of tub/shower that needs one. Also get a hair stopper to prevent hair going down the drain! Something like this. If you have a tub and like baths I suggest a drain cover too to get an extra few inches of water/bubbles.

Enjoy your new house!

The Cotton Made In Africa initiative helps sustainably build the economies of west African countries.

You can support them by buying these towels, which are amazingly high quality. My Christmas shopping last year lasted 20 minutes because every person on my list got towels. Everyone loved them.

u/Aerest · 1 pointr/pics

Get your daughter a shower curtain that has a slot for tablets/phones/ sheets of paper.

Like this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075HG56QH

When she takes organic chemistry she'll need to learn about dozens upon dozens of reactions and rather than having to write them all down on the wall, she can just stick paper/phone/tablet in between the slots to learn them while showering. This is how I got through my O chem.

Realistically you don't even use most of the periodic table as a chemistry major. You learn about trends and such but the things that are actually useful (like atomic mass) are learned through sheer repetition.

Also, get her started on memorizing the amino acids if she's interested in biochemistry :P

Hi! Looking for some help with exfoliation:

I've been using BHA for chemical exfoliation at night and AHA 2-3 times a week to help fade PIH.

What application method gives best results for chemical exfoliators? I'm inconsistent with application methods, from most to least often I either fall asleep with the BHA still on my face, sometimes BHA + immediately apply AHA + immediate moisturizer, sometimes I rinse off the BHA after 20 min and apply moisturizer.

Also, should I add physical exfoliation? I never feel like the dead skin comes off my face, and sometimes I can't stop myself from picking and scraping. I've been researching on /r/AsianBeauty and it looks like some suggestions for physical exfoliators are "Paris Cloths" and "Salux Cloths". Any thoughts?

I also have a bath overflow drain cover (allows the tub to fill up a little higher, which covers my baby bump a little more) and a bathtub tray (what I like about this one is the little wine glass slot on the right...I had this before I was pregnant 😉)

I also bring my water bottle in for bath time. The warm water really dehydrates me. I have a 25oz Eddy Cambelback water bottle that I bring everywhere. I love the straw and I can open/sip it one handed. I think that feature will come in handy once the baby is born!

I'm going to agree with the above poster. Products with urea (I use Eucerin Advanced Repair) and Stridex help a loooot. Eucerin does not specify how much urea they use for this one, but there are other lotions on Amazon that definitely do. I would second those recommendations. I also use a Salux cloth sometimes, but its VERY rough. I can only use it for a lil bit.

A buddy of mine got a set of curtain rods like these to stretch floor to ceiling:

And then these pipe clamp mounts to attach the lighthouses.

https://www.amazon.com/Grifiti-Threaded-Microphone-Diameter-Motorcycles/dp/B00E5M39AW

He's pretty happy with them.

Before I bit the bullet and drilled holes, I used a pair of mini camera tripods to put them on shelves. The downside was they were super easy to bump out of alignment meaning I had to re-run roomscale setup all the time, but they were also super portable and it'll look no worse than small satellite speakers as far as inspection is concerned.

I used these for the support rods:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00F3B4YPS/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

They are simply shower curtain rods that are supported with a spring. Since the lighthouses are pretty light, this holds their weight without any trouble, and there is no vibration at all. It's very sturdy for the price, if folks are looking for something a bit more affordable.

I’ve used exfoliating gloves after waxing to prevent ingrown hairs. But I recently switched to a Salux cloth from the Asian grocery. It’s bigger and easier to use than the gloves, and I can even scrub my own back with it- can’t do that with gloves!

My waxing lady said wait 2 days after waxing to start exfoliating, so I don’t know if it’s the same for epilating or not, ymmv. You can also try doing the scrub cloth before epilating, and then follow up with some of the lotions and chemical exfoliators other people recommended.

Did you change anything in your routine that might've caused it? I dealt with butt (cheek) acne for a while too, and I realized that the onset coincided with the period of time that I started working out a lot (sweaty gym tights and sharing gym surfaces = grossness). So I tried to be more diligent about showering as soon as I finished working out, and I also started using one of those Japanese exfoliating cloths to make sure to get rid of any build up. I also tried a butt acne clearing lotion, but I'm not too sure if it made much of a difference. I think there are also body washes with benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, or tea tree oil that you could try, but I think the exfoliating cloths were what really helped clear it up.

u/iplaywithbugs · 2 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

Probably ingrown hairs. Does that sound about right? If so, try exfoliating. Scrub daily with something (like a Salux bath towel), and chemically exfoliate with Stridex. Greatly improved my legs, to be sure!

I have mild KP, but my bumps are completely gone since I started using these towels. They're also called Italy towels, Turkish towels, Hammam or Hamam towels, or Kese mitts. But these are the cheapest ones.

It's really gross seeing all the grey balls of dead skin come off you but oh so satisfying. They make my skin feel softer than a baby. The overflow's I've seen as a consumer/DIYer are an integral part of the drain system so they'd be difficult to seal off.

Want to know how to make bath time even better? If you’re like me, your arms and legs stick out of the water after you have filled it. With this handy device you can add a few extra inches of water to your bath without the pesky metal drain sucking it away. Seriously - buy this.

oh man you asked for it. This is what I do if i have a day off and nowhere to be:

I like to put on a mud mask (I like the volcanic clay one from Innisfree, or the pore refining charcoal one from clinique) wait for that to dry, and then hop in the shower to rinse it off, and wash my hair. Then I fill up the tub and put in some nice bath salts or a lush bath bomb, apply a hair mask and a sheet mask. After extensive soaking, I scrub off with one of those korean towels (gets all the dead skin off your body. it's pretty gross but very worth it.)

After that, hop back in the shower, rinse off completely, shave, and then moisturize. Takes a long time but man do I always feel good afterwards.

I got it from Amazon! Pretty good price if you ask me, you get two packs and there's 4 in each, so there's 8 pieces. And yeah, I used to be able to see skin flakes/dust whenever I rub/scratch my legs (tmi sorry) but now I don't get that anymore.

Both of these I’ve used! I like the 2nd for its length (easy back reach) and the 1st for its efficiency (I think it’s scrubbier if that makes any sense).

Actually instead you should try these exfoliating Italy Towels that they use for Korean Scrubs, I just got them on amazon.ca https://www.amazon.com/pcs-Asian-Exfoliating-Bath-Washcloth/dp/B004C8DR1U and I love them, I just use them in the shower before your body wash/soaps/ shaving, I usually use them once a week after after my hair step, so that my skin gets softer from the water. They are reusable too.

Currently have my Vive setup in my apartment living room, which is adjacent to my bedroom with my PC. In the living room is my TV, two couches, and my Vive lighthouses.

On the two opposite corners I have these extendable spring loaded poles I purchased from Amazon.

I adjusted the tension so its a tight fit from floor to th ceiling.

On the top of those poles are my lighthouses pointing towards the middle of the living room. The lighthouses are mounted onto the pole using these attachable clamps.

They've been there stable since May of this year.

What was your favorite "i'm worth it" purchase?

I just bought some body exfoliating towels (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004C8DR1U/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) to use in the shower. Not expensive, but I take more time because i'm worth it.

I have two sets of Alex drawers (the tall ones) and one is basically eyeshadow all the way down. It’s kind of ridiculous and I don’t really like the drawers (I wish they opened all the way, I can never get to stuff in the back). If you aren’t planning to buy more palettes, maybe just display it on top? You could also get an acrylic palette organizer that looks like this maybe?

They make shampoo/conditioner/bodywash dispensers that glue to the wall or corner.

Here’s the one I have that works well for me:

Ahhhhhhhh, that's probably the key then. I'm really impatient with applying fake tan haha. I just bought these because I read in another thread that they are supposedly better than the gloves :O I can't wait to be a smooth baby hahaha.

Dunno why people are suggesting tripods when he said they take up too much floor space...

I have been using these super long curtain rods (running from floor to ceiling) + gopro camera mounts for 2 years without issue:
