Sure!

Step 1: steam your face or a hot steamy shower. Open the pores up! Refrain from any harsh cleansers or scrubbing other than gentle gentle gentle.

Step 2: swipe a stridex pad or any other salicylic acid based toner over the spot. Wait 15 min. It gently dissolves the dead skin layer that is clogging the pore, and begins to break down the layer of oil and crud that is keeping all of the fluid and pus inside.

Step 3: spot treat with Aztec clay mask, mixed with apple cider vinegar. You must mix the betonite clay mask with the Apple cider vinegar, to balance the pH and avoid burning your skin. It smells funky as hell but it is an acne killer, every single person on this thread will agree that it’s amazing for acne. It will draw it to a head quicker. This is great as a full face mask, be aware that it will pulse and tingle intensely as it dries! Your skin will be bright red for 30 min to an hour after removing it.

Step 4: wait 10 min until it dries and carefully peel it off the zit. It may even take the clogged pore top with it, opening it up for extraction — use an extractor tool or pore vacuum and do NOT just go squeeze it. If it does not come to a head repeat this again tomorrow! Do not do the full mask every day, the spot treatment is ok daily only on blemishes. As a full mask it’s best to use it once or maybe twice a week at most, or you risk compromising your lipid/moisture barrier and going through some seriously not fun times. Always follow up with a good oil free moisturizer.

This is the best way to completely drain this blemish, without forcing the pus further into your skin and creating even more breakouts down the line.

All of these products are easily obtained on Amazon, or any major grocer that has a health food section or oriented towards health. I know for a fact that Gelsons, Whole Foods, Erewhon, sprouts all carry the Aztec betonite clay mask and apple cider vinegar. Any chemist or pharmacy will have stridex wipes and benzoyl peroxide & maybe even the extractor tool as well. If they do not have the extractor, pick up some Hydrocollegial bandages as well as small diabetic lancets (Tiny needles used for blood sugar testing) if you don’t have anything you can use at home to poke it with.

Now steam your face for 5 to 10 minutes to open your pores then see if you can gently lance the pimple with a lancet or sterilized small needle. (It must be sterilized and rubbing alcohol for a few minutes first, or you will get an infection.)

Gently pierce it, then allow it to drain and very carefully apply pressure straight down to the sides of the blemish. Do not squeeze directly into it, again super bad. Once you’ve gotten as much out as you can, slap a hydro colloidal bandage on it and sleep with it on. The bandage will suck all of the fluid and pus out, leaving you with a flattened bump in the morning that you can apply a little dab of benzoyl peroxide on. Benzoyl Peroxide is an anaerobic substance, it penetrates all the way to the base of the skin through multiple layers to target acne bacteria. It’s best used as a spot treatment and will fry the crap out of your face. Always use sunscreen after using these medicines!

For starters what kind of skin care do you use and what kind of foundation are you using (liquid or pressed)?

This could be the root of the problem. Your skin through out the day will let your natural oil through. If you are using something that is oil based for your moisturizer, you may be adding too much oil to your face, then causing the makeup to bead up and roll off. Foundations aren't always absorbent, when it comes to the oils in your natural skin. Possibly try something that is mineral based. Now, I know you may be thinking 'If i use minerals, it will look cakey and will create creases.' This isn't always true. Try to find a mineral line that doesn't have any Talc in it. Talc is really unhealthy for the skin and can cause irritation and break out. It clogs the pores and doesn't allow the skin to breathe correctly, it also draws out the oils in the skin creating dryness, which is not good. If you prefer to use a liquid or a mouse style foundation, make sure to use a pressed or lose powder over top also. This will help to set your foundation and can help to absorb any of that excess oil.

Try finding a moisturizer that isn't too heavy and only use a little amount ie; the size of a pea for your whole face. One consumer flaw, in everyone, is that we tend to over use products, more isnt always better. This could also be causing your breakouts. If you have an oil based moisturizer your skin is just going to be even more oily and it will cause those break outs to happen more often.

Proper picking of your blemishes is also key to concealing. Be sure to always wash your hands before you start to adventure into picking on your face. Dirt and bacteria under the nails and on the hands can spread really fast to your skin if your hands are not clean. If you are pressing and squeezing the heck out of your pimples/blackheads you are going to create even more damage to the skin. It sounds scary, but if you get some clean lancets from the drug store, you can poke your whiteheads at an angle parallel to the surface of the skin, you just create a small opening in your blemish so that the bacteria from your blemish can come out, with out damaging the skin around it. This simple little poke will help to reduce the pressure from the bacteria that has formed in your skin, and will make it easier to extract the fluid inside. This will also lessen any sort of crusting that can happen, when you break a blemish badly. Creating that small hole also helps from spreading the bacteria further into your skin. You can also look into an extraction tool my favorite and one for blackheads. Sometimes when we force out a blemish it will break under the surface spreading that into the skin more. Cleansing after you pick is also a good way of stopping breakouts from reoccurring.

For the Concealing, if your finding that they are red blemishes you are trying to hide, find a concealer that has a green base to it. Sounds weird right! But in the color world, green and red are complementary colors making them cancel each other out. So when you put a little bit of green concealer on your skin over those blemishes that are red/pink in color it then put your foundation on, it will hid them more then getting a darker foundation. If you are trying to cover dark areas like under the eyes which is more purple, look for something that is yellow based as it will do the same and cancel out that color making it more neutral and will hide the area. Over using your concealer can make it cake up and crease also, so just a very small amount ie; size of a pin head. This will also help it last a little longer. Find some good non latex sponges for blending and blend your foundation into the areas that you are trying to cover, then blend the rest into you're non blemished areas.

Making sure you are drinking plenty of water is a good tip to add to healthy skin. Sometimes your face will feel dry, not because lack of moisture to the skin, but lack of water internally to the skin. We then tend to over use our moisturizers to compensate for this simple action. Water helps to balance the skin and make the oils act more naturally. If you get the right products and use the right amount you will be just fine. I hope that some of this helps and please let me know if you have some success! Just to throw a little out there, for skin care that is over the counter I like Burts Bees.

Hi friend! Something I would suggest for you:

There are single use, sterile diabetic lancets that are probably a better option for lancing; you can get 300 for $7, there may be even cheaper options.

https://smile.amazon.com/Care-Touch-Twist-Lancets-Gauge/dp/B01GGGS8XW/ref=sr_1_4_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1542822301&sr=8-4&keywords=diabetic+lancets

You can also get a pretty nice set of tools for under $10:

https://smile.amazon.com/BESTOPE-Blackhead-Remover-Comedone-Extractor/dp/B019SVHLEY/ref=sr_1_3_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1542822442&sr=8-3&keywords=skin%2Btools&th=1

I think both of these options may be more gentle on your skin and easier / safer to use.

This is just meant as a friendly suggestion, feel free to disregard!

An extraction tool like this one causes less damage on my skin than using fingers or needles to deal with pimples and ingrown hairs. It will still leave a tiny wound, of course. It seems to me that a dab of Neosporin before bed seems to make that unnoticeable by morning, but I keep reading that Neosporin is no more effective than Vasoline for healing. The trick for scar-free healing is apparently to avoid scabbing which Vasoline will also do. And they say every exposure to Neosporin is another chance to develop a reaction to one of the three antibiotics in it. I still use it though, mostly for the pain-killing effect. No more ouchies.

If you are more patient there are many types of razor bump lotions. Most of them use salicylic acid as the active ingredient which exfoliates, eventually removing the layer of skin trapping the hair. I can't tell you how long it would take, and they are probably more effective used regularly to prevent future ingrown hairs.

I use Stridex Pads for the salicylic acid on some areas I shave that are prone to razor bumps and as long as I use it immediately after shaving, I never see bumps. Skip it and it's a fifty-fifty chance I'll see a few bumps. It contains alcohol and sometimes stings freshly-shaven skin, but we keep them on hand, so it saves buying and storing another product.

You could also dissolve uncoated aspirins in water and swab that on, for another on-hand source of salicylic acid. The razor bump lotions will contain skin conditioners, maybe thickeners to make it cling to the skin, and other ingredients like fragrances to make it more pleasant to use, but effectively it should work about the same.

Surgery. Sorry. After dealing with them for ten years I had a tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy which pretty much resurfaced the sides of my throat, the theory being that without any holes there'd be nowhere for stones to develop. It has completely cured one side, but the holes on the other side must've been too deep because I've had a few stones in the past few years. Over all, though, it's a zillion percent improvement.

If you enjoy fishing for them, a stainless steel zit popper tool like this is the best tool for digging them out proactively. As someone that adores ickies, picking them out was the only redeeming factor of the affliction.

u/williamwchuang · 5 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

I very rarely pop zits but this is the process I use when I do. Make sure that the zit is in poppable condition. It has to be "tight" and "taut". Wash wish warm water. Use a disposable, sterile lancet to pop the pimple, and use a clean pimple popper to gently, gently, gently extract the crud. You should not squeeze the zit as much as apply downward pressure on either side of it. Then wash your skin again.

I got a pretty basic set of two (four heads total) from Amazon. Can't remember the name, sorry. But it was one of the bestsellers. Looks like this:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00A6H2DD4/ref=mp_s_a_1_4_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1499995868&sr=8-4&keywords=comedone+extractor&dpPl=1&dpID=31cm2bMnDOL&ref=plSrch

My CC routine:

Get some lancets from the pharmacy. Yep, the ones for diabetics. They're sterile, inexpensive, and scalpel sharp. Then I lance the CC rather gently, as in top of the clog as possible. Again, these babies are teeny scalpels, so a little pressure goes a long way.

Then I press the CC with the oval-ish head. You might need to re-lance, but only use downward pressure with the extractor, and a little wiggle. If nothing comes out, LEAVE IT ALONE. slap on a hydrocolloid and try again a few days later.

But you should be able to get the clog out pretty cleanly. I swipe with a bit of alcohol, let it dry for a second, then cover with a cosrx patch.

My esthetician friend rec'd the lancets, because a clean cut heals better and faster than the more ragged tear you get from straight popping.

Wash your hands. And make sure you sanitize the tools. I use rubbing alcohol, before and after I use them.

Depot! Makes everything so much easier and faster. I don't have to fumble through products to find what I want everyday. I don't have a very big collection either and I think it works really well with smaller collections. The reason I depoted is also so I could see and use more of my collection, and use products from different palettes at the same time without going back and forth (which I would find myself not doing). It works perfectly for everyday and for travel. At home I keep all my eyeshadows in one double-sided MAC palette and my blushes, contour, and a setting powder in single sided MAC palette. For travel I just take the eyeshadows, blush, contour and stick them in the same palette, so I can put on most of my face out of there.

By the way, The BEST way to depot is using the Goss method. I place one product at a time in a ~210 degree oven for about 3-4 minutes. Then immediately dig out the metal pan using an extracting tool like this one. I do my best to bend the packaging, not the tin if needed. If it doesn't pop right out, I slide a sturdy knife straight under it (vs prying it up at the edges) through a crevice created my the extraction tool.

Not an expert but I frequent r/popping and r/skincareaddiction quite a bit.

Probably turned black From irritation. Do your best not to pop or pick at them. If you need to pop them (like if they’re large and white and make you feel self conscious), wipe your face with alcohol on a cotton swab to sanitize it. Wipe your tool with alcohol, too. Be extremely gentle. Stop when you see blood. Here’s a tool set I recommend. JPNK Blackhead Remover Tools 6 PCS with a Leather bag https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01CNMASFY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_.UFzCbJETBKS2

If I were you, I’d begin using CeraVe cleanser both night and day. This is an inexpensive brand but is recommended by tons of derms, including my own. It’s very gentle and suitable for sensitive skin. I’d recommend using moisturizer morning and nighttime also, but not a must. Also, use a sunscreen in the morning (and afternoon if possible). Sunscreen will help keep your scars from darkening and becoming more apparent

u/Sarteret · 3 pointsr/funny

Actually, as pointed out by Dr. Lee, AKA Dr. Pimple Popper. Acne or comodomes are an infection. They should always be removed. She has dealt with ones that have been left for years or even sometimes, DECADES. The thing is you can't just pop a zit and leave it. it needs to be treated like any infection. It needs cleaning, disinfecting, and dressing. This could be as simple as washing your face and applying astringent. Which most astringents are alcohol based and then applying some topical redness reliever, like a cortizone cream. The cortizone reduces the size and makes the swelling go away. At worst case a bandaid, like a little bandaid plaster to keep out bacteria.

So many people pop a zit and wipe off what they can see with their finger. That spreads bacteria to all the other pores, plus anything you have on your finger is now wiped into an oozing open hole on your face. Basic hygiene is what is required. Leaving them alone can help but only because you not spreadin all that crap. But the acne will stay and cause great big sores sometimes. Best to get a comedome set like this.

Hope this helps. I suffer from pimples like almost every one does. But this will help.

u/stripmallpsychic · 1 pointr/SkincareAddiction

if you are going to remove blackheads and clean pores, definitely make sure your face is warm and moist. perfect time to do it is immediately after a shower. the steam really helps open up your pores! I would recommend using an extractor tool. something like this would be fine. make sure you wipe off and clean the tool with an alcohol wipe before each use. if you press down and its not coming out - leave it. it is not ready. trying to get it out will cause so much redness and scarring (trust me ive made this mistake many times!) also highly recommend using a toner after extracting. i would also recommend incorporating a clay mask into your routine 2-3 times a week. i use the fresh umbrian clay mask and ive noticed a huge difference in my nose blackheads. they aren't completely gone but they are much smaller and less noticeable!

u/Zaphy1415926 · 1 pointr/SkincareAddiction

I got an extractor (one of these dudes ) and now when I feel a pimple and I just get that addictive urge to pop it, I am able to at the very least wait till I get home to use the tool, as it usually works better than my fingers. The tool is easier to keep clean than my hands, and it does less damage to the skin than scraping with your fingers does. Plus I keep my popping down to once a day, in the evenings, so there's less inflammation. Now I've at least minimized my skin picking, and am working on eliminating it entirely. It's a good starting point. :) hope it helps!

Bro, I'm sorry man but like, how ISN'T this like decorating a Christmas tree? You've got fairy lights and baubles. Wut?! Doesn't your room just look like one of those prostitute windows from outside like what they used to do in the old days? You know, covering the light bulb in something red so you could tell where the prostitutes where...

Dafuq man, I don't understand how this would help with GAMING immersion? Like.. unless it somehow syncs with the the game? I couldn't see me being extra immersed in Outlast with my room glowing like the insides of a My Little Pony.

Of course! So I bought [this] (https://www.amazon.com/BESTOPE-Blackhead-Remover-Comedone-Extractor/dp/B019SVHLEY/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1498406863&sr=8-1&keywords=comedone+extractor) kit. I first make sure to double cleanse and get all the gunk off my face. Then I use a toner to get the remaining dirt off my face. I bought [this] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01BPKUCRE/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1) steamer. I turn it on and steam my face for 5 minutes. It gets really hot so I'm pretty far from the steamer itself. You want a nice warm mist on your face. After 5 minutes, I whip out the kit and examine my face. With the smallest loop, I gently press down on any sebaceous filaments and blackheads I see. If it doesn't come out with a gentle press, I leave it alone. It's sooo tempting to push harder and get everything out but it can lead to scarring which has happened to me so many times.

I had rhinoplasty done recently so I can't extract anything on my nose so I do something different for that. I first apply BHA, wait 10 min, then apply a clay mask and wait until it dries. I wash it off and infront of the steamer, I apply my cleansing oil and just massage it into my nose gently and to the rest of my face. After about 3-5 minutes of massaging, you'll start to feel grits which is all the gunk that came out of your pores. [This] (https://fiftyshadesofsnail.com/2015/03/28/how-to-shrink-pores-temporarily-plus-3-pore-myths/) is where i got this method from :)

alright, you've already gotten some pretty decent advice about your makeup. so here's my suggestion for future reference: go buy a blackhead remover. you can get them online or at a place like target, and it's a lot more gentle on your face than your fingernails! totally a worthwhile investment.

u/baking_ninja · 1 pointr/AskReddit

I know I have the perfect boyfriend because he lets me clean his pores with this when I run out of pimples to pop on my own face.
Also over the last two months I've convinced my roommate and her boyfriend to let me clean their pores as well... it's addicting and strangely satisfying.

u/Madsterrr · 1 pointr/acne

Blackhead remover tool. They can be helpful if you know what you're doing but it's very easy to be too aggressive/go overboard and hurt your skin. Best to research good technique and follow proper hygiene etiquette (sterilizing the tool, washing your face thoroughly, etc.)

https://www.amazon.com/Blackhead-Remover-Extractor-Blackheads-Extraction/dp/B00A6H2DD4/ref=sr_1_4_s_it?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1482847646&sr=1-4&keywords=blackhead+tool

u/pcpostspls · 1 pointr/food

Get a pore presser to remove them in a sterile, non-destructive way. This is the one I have, the angled ones are great. It takes about a week for them to grow back. My skin has noticeably improved, pores have become less visible and cleaner- same for my boyfriend. Rule #1: keep it sanitary (alcohol them between pressings), and #2: be as gentle with your skin as you can be!

u/cdeverett · 5 pointsr/lifehacks

They are usually called "skin tools" :)

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Tweezerman-No-Slip-Skin-Care-Blackheads/dp/B00018TMP0/ref=sr_1_3_a_it

Ignore bad reviews. I have one of those that's over 10 years old, no complaints.

Just be sure to press firmly and "draw a line through" whatever spot you're tackling (don't try to dig in or press directly onto it).

For added fun, grip your nose side to side, and firmly drag the flat tool down and across in long strokes. So. Much. Unexpected. Pus.

If you have ingrown hairs, pluck them out first.

If you have the kind of "whiteheads" that are cysts, the kind that scab over, 3-5mm diameter, and if (let's be honest, when) you pick the scab, you can see a whole cluster of white specks (infected hair follicles), try to pluck out accessible hairs and consider running the tool diagonally like this \ a few times (to cover the whole area) then diagonally like this / (again, a few parallel paths) and that should clear most of the horror.

(These moments are usually accompanied by bleeding, but if you use something simple like non-fancy witchhazel to clean it off then you'll have a bit of stinging then hopefully slow the blood as well as avoiding (re)infection)

u/beans_seems_and_bees · 8 pointsr/popping

I use this comedone extractor kit, and the one I used is the one on the far right that has the pointy tip at the other end. Yes it helps the pop, it’s much easier and more comfortable than using my fingers.

I fell in love with this tool the first time I used it. The smaller end is what I use. Also you might want to brush your tongue when you brush your teeth and gargle your mouthwash it will help the stones from building up to fast.

u/kscrimsher · 1 pointr/LifeProTips

In addition to NOT touching your face and sleeping on clean towels...

Go to the drugstore and buy benzoyl peroxide cream. When you feel a pimple coming on, wash your face with a gentle cleanser, rub the cream into the pimple, and forget about it for a while. If you need to pop, buy an extractor tool and go on Youtube for good demos. Wash your face, swish the tool in some rubbing alcohol and gently press on each black or whitehead you want to get rid of. Voila! Acne under control.

There are some stainless steel tools she can use the extract the sebum, like this one: https://www.amazon.com/Professional-Blackhead-Remover-Blemish-Extractor/dp/B01N2XZR36#

It also helps to exfoliate the face 2-3 times a week to clear out dead skincells, and also do it after a warm bath when the pores are nice and open.

You've also got several types of masks that can be applied and they harden up, and when peeled off they take the gunk amd blackheads with them. And also nose pore strips. You can find these readily available at any drugstore or beauty shop.

u/dunnowhatnametouse · 1 pointr/RandomActsofMakeup

u/kellybuMUA · 1 pointr/MakeupAddiction

Try a salmon toned color correcting concealer. LA Girl makes a really good salmon concealer, and so does Urban Decay. You can tap the product on with your finger to blend out the product under your eyes. I find that the Urban Decay concealer is very soft and buildable.

For blackheads and clogged pores, try using a facial cleansing tool after a hot shower. It looks like a metal hoop on one side and a sharp point on the other side. I highly recommend watching demos on YouTube before trying it out, because it's really hard to explain how to use it without visuals. This tool will help you clean out the deeply clogged pores that a pore strip or facial cleanser might not be able to catch. Be very careful with it and always remember to sanitize it with alcohol before and after using it. I also highly recommend trying a Clarisonic for everyday cleansing.

I occasionally get my teeth whitened at a spa, but I only get them done if I need instant results. I've used Crest 3D white toothpaste before and noticed better results than other brands.

u/tinyphotographer · 1 pointr/LifeProTips

Actually, it is better for your skin if you pop the pimples, albeit you have to do it properly (i.e. using clean hands, washing your face after and then applying a treatment). Never force a pimple to pop, as that can cause damage to your skin and cause scarring. But the really gross whiteheads that look like they are going to burst on their own, yeah, you need to drain the bacteria out of those suckers. Otherwise you are letting it fester under your skin and break down the surrounding tissue.

As for blackheads, you can purchase a comedone extractor to help rid yourself of them.

I will say, though, that you should never try to pop a cystic pimple. Those are the ones that feel like a ball under your skin. If you attempt to pop one of those you can cause the bacteria to spread under your skin. It's best to let a professional handle those.

I have a scar just below my eyebrow from one I never, ever touched. It didn't go away, it just sort of...fossilized, I guess. I recently got a little tool that helps open and drain them without causing as much damage as picking. I'm not sure if it's the even pressure that does the trick or what, but I was pleasantly surprised at how it managed to make plugs just pop right out without any damage beyond a circular impression that faded away after a few minutes.

squeezing blackheads out can cause a lot of damage to your skin because they are very difficult to get out. your fingernails and squeezing the skin can cause a scratch, which it looks like you did scratch yourself. i would use a blackhead extractor tool if you really want to get them out yourself. you can find them on amazon.
also before you try to extract your blackheads make sure you place a very warm washcloth on your face to open up your pores. or just take a warm shower. :)

You can pick up a blackhead extractor at Wal-Mart. It looks like this: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0017KCPU0

It will be cleaner and not as forceful as using fingers.

Clean your face thoroughly before and after popping.

u/krissycole87 · 5 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

i use this tool. Its a lance/extractor combo. Some others here have mentioned this same method: STERILIZE (most important step) your tool and the area to be extracted. Gently lance the pimple with the pointed end. Use the rounded end to push down on the skin around the pimple. The downward force should push the gunk up and out. Dont scrape it (you want to minimize damage to the surrounding skin) just gently push down around it a few times. Once its all out, I dab it again with some alcohol on a qtip and then put my hydrocolloid on top. Its usually flat by morning.

u/MyOther_UN_is_Clever · 26 pointsr/SkincareAddiction

If you have to extract, use a proper tool. Clean the tool before using, between each extraction, and after finishing up. The proper method for cleaning is to remove all the physical matter, then washing with 70% rubbing alcohol. Wait for the alcohol to evaporate each time, it doesn't take long.

edit: any tools like this. make sure they're surgical steel and the tools are smooth. Avoid using the hole in a metal spoon, use the round wires, since they don't have a sharp edge.

IF you feel the need to pick at your face, at least don't use your fingers. Most of the time, you do more bad than good . Pimple tweezers, similar to These. Very popular among Chinese poppers; I first saw them on Je’s channel, way back before she started using gloves. Dr Lee’s taken them for a test drive, too.

Versatile: tweezers, lancet, & extractor in one.

Many of the ones you’ll see in use have an eye on the other end for applying a clear “crystal jelly” to pops that are bloody. I’m guessing they do it for barrier purposes.
